Usually a system won’t work with a lower capacity charger.

typically, what will happen is the system will lower its power consumption and just run off the battery and the external charger will only be able to charge the battery. I do not recommend doing it this way because you will short cycle your battery to death in a matter of days.

I have found that the on-board power circuitry will actually not draw power if it’s not up to a minimum specification

It really depends on the board and manufacturer and charger of course

In short, don’t get some half assed solution charger for your laptop

I would also recommend getting an OEM replacement because there can be electrically weird stuff that can go on if you have the wrong internal components in the actual charger brick itself.

I honestly just don't get my job.... we're in charge of the monitoring and maintence of a fiber optic network. BUT we have basically no control over any of the hardware. Switch having issues? Call one team to fix it. Fiber break? Call another team. I feel like a dispatcher :/
