ive been doing it for 22 years now, thing i have found is that you wanna break the scope down into small chunks, dont look at it as 1 large app, look at it as many features of an app, and, each of those features can be worked on by themselves with no requirement of the other features being there... so, go back to your document... look at what you need to do to create the minimum viable product (enough to where it does something) and then work on adding individual features, fixing individual bugs, removing individual sources of tech debt... sometimes looking at the big picture is the best thing to do... sometimes, completely ignoring the big picture is the thing to do

I can agree with that, for the last 7 months or so I've been working on a singular feature, essentially a PDF editor that lets you put variables from equipment templates onto a base PDF, that went though like 3 different iterations before I finally got it down.

I think this is because I'm an inexpensive dev and anything even around my level going off the market is better, so I'm underselling hardcore

hit a lot of roadblocks along the way, wanted to just set fire to the whole project a few times, had to do a git reset --hard more than once and just start that section again from scratch... 😄

but... the feeling of getting that 1 tech debt issue gone (though it was a MASSIVE tech debt issue), is incredible... project is noticeably faster and snappier and better to use, build times are about 30% faster for our developers, saving 100s of hours over the year for the company, saving thousands of pounds/euros in hosting costs
