Yeah exactly. While I barely posted in the channel so far, when I've asked questions in various channels it was nice as it is.

We already have /r/BuildAPc + other sub-reddits Reddits, not to mention the LTT forums themselves. There's even the /r/BuildAPc discord. Now everyone is just going to migrate to tech chat 1 & 2, tech support, and general.

If I need help I very much doubt I'm going to post anything in the LTT buildapc forum. There's already better alternatives for that. I come to Discord for the live conversation, not for posting.

• free public ones are limited in the certs they offer - usually HTTPs, maybe email signing. Not other types of certs though
• most free public certificate authorities publish all requested certs, so your internal hostnames etc. can "leak" - in some circumstances, this can be undesirable
• you might have an environment that can't use public certs - either you aren't using a correct FQDN (you should, just buy a $12/year domain name and use a subdomain internally) or you want to sign for IPs
