Windows pre-caches frequently accessed stuff into ram if you have ram spare, that way the system is more responsive. oyu can see this in action comparing different ram amounts. i have a device with 2gb of ram, that uses 800mb-1gb at idle. my laptop with 16gb ram uses 2 to 3gb idle. my buddy's laptop that has 32gb uses 4gb idle
