Ebuilds are same thing but source code. On top of that, it includes its own scripts to autobuild the source and you end up w binary package. Literally dont have to do anything usually. Its just like apt install mc but you write emerge mc. Boom 'you compiled it yourself' lmfao. Its really just set optimal compiler options for your hardware and you have your own builds that nobody can beat in efficiency on your machine
