Turned out to be the secret success for me, because I could copy and paste commands and set up a server that did exactly what I wanted in record time. Then I discovered docker containers and again, logging the setup so I can copy paste was perfect.

Honestly, I’m fine with slow as long as it is best-in-class efficient and easily adopted. If I can compress something on Linux and can’t easily uncompress on Windows/Mac, It’s a no-go for me. I don’t mind installing software to enable the capability. As long as it is scriptable.
7zip is my gold standard for Windows.

neither is better then the other, lzma2 is just faster with non compressible data mixed in at a slight efficiency hit

zip needs to fucking die tho and using it as a method for compressing binaries for distribution is downright dumb.
PNG uses a similar method as deflate and its the reason its hilariously slow compared to lossless WEBP
