Hey I used the GIF tab thing
Become an elite human, duh
I press, it fail. discord Fail.
Get floatplane
Na
Get it now or I will send Anthony and luke to kidnap you and bring you to linus where you will be tourchered
Although you know the saying about throwing rocks in glass houses, if I also lived in certain parts of London I would pay for a similar service... so...
Are the numbers the same
Idk that’s why I’m asking to make sure
G14
6800hs
6700s
Is it the same thing he’s talkin abt
Y'know, it'd be cool if AMD didn't use the exact same numbers for their CPU and GPU products
?
yep that
you might want to switch the WiFi card out at some point, the mediatek one it comes with works fine until you're like, on the go which the driver sometimes bugs out
if it's gonna be primarily at home or school it'll work ifne
Wym the only weak video was the wii dev kit
Heads up y'all, TMobile announced a price hike for new customers.
Through the guise of new plans and basically a forced hotspot upgrade.
exposing HP is always an automatic W, flipper zero was pretty good whole avoiding to get into the illegal shit, same for the android boxes though i would have liked them to show the malware in action
Like holy shit if you know that box is sending and recieving data from some IP address get some folks toghether and mail them a zip bomb through the TV, now THAT is content
Well showing the malware in action might require hooking it up to stuff, and right after a hack it's understandable they don't want to prod the devil
Lulz, Mullvad VPN got Razziad but just said "No."
Also I think the point was made, don't even TRY it
New Labs idea- Viruses & malware lab
Uhhhh considering LTTs seeming lack of trained IT/ security right now I would say no
Oh but what if they got john hammond to lead it
Isn't that like the top gear dude
no
Ah
All my bills rose by 17.3% this year
Inflation rpi
'Inflation'
eppic
I still do not understnad how they can paywall hotspot
Wdym
isnt hotspot like a mchanism in the phone itself ?
what does it have to do with the simcard
the only explanation is that they tell the phone to block hotspot
which means there has to be a way that you can bypass that no ?
phone becomes sort of a limited wifi router and allows devices to share that 1 mobile data connection between multiple devices
windows setup or a WindowsToGo install?
just windoes 10
so i can boot up windows in school
if their systems allow usb booting
yea so it can be bypassed
You're also still going to be on the school network, please don't do silly things
i think they do i mean they are thease old ass systems that still run win7 and take ages to load google
vpn ^^
yup you can. Rufus has a WindowsToGo option iirc. I myself have a full fat bootable windows USB on a 64GB SanDisk Extreme Go drive. I have all sorts of tools, backup/recovery software/etc that I might need whenever I have to fix my own PC from a different boot environment.
You'll have to go into BIOS (press F2 or DEL repeatedly when PC turns on) and change boot order to prioritize your USB first
if the network admin hasn't blocked vpn traffic
ok thank you i will experiment woth operating systems
I hate vpn blockers F
might put a linux os idk i already have a few of them
you underestimate how far some of these school network admins will go.
my school doesnt care
you can go on adult sites they have not blocked them
🤨
well I never really tested how far I can abuse the schools system cause Im not in school
but understandable'
my friend went on there as a joke and it let her in
also thair network is easely hackable
still dont do this though unless you want them to know what you are into
as well as the web server
lmao i dont watch adult content
None at all?
no
just saying
Are you ok?
back when I was a junior in HS we had user accounts for everything, from windows credentials to wifi login portals. One thing that they didn't really hide for w/e reason in the CAD labs was the district's general storage server's IP. So dumbass me vpn'd in and tried putting my credentials to see if I could get anything.
yes are you?
Suffice it to say, no. The attempted logon was flagged and I had a chat w/ the IT admin the next day
Hahahaha
my school has a bruteforcable ssh port on their server LMAO
I was not a smart teenager lmao
my credentials
brooooo...
very curious and hands-on, yes. But not smart.
they asked me to check their security
Did they? What were your findings?
you to me orr?
Did they ask you, or did you ask them
they asked me
And what were your findings?
i was able to get in in like 2 mins so we changet the password and yeah now it doesnt anymore
at least it sholdnt idk i think i picked the one that wasnt in the rockyou file
but i know that they might have few more vulnrabilities
ehh fuck idc its not my server
man ive been doing this thing where I like make a fresh web session and make a new identity from scratch.
like email. accounts. random ass social media
that is fun o have also done that
and then after the session ends I just start over again
at some point it really is not fun TwT
all I know is that atleast its private af
ehh yeah
also what do i do if my IT teacher doesnt know what she is talking about
i mean she doesnt even know what linux is
yeah you are right
happy 420
LMAO I JUST REALIZED
thank you
thank you for this lovely information goot sir
what does 420 even mean i just hear it everyehere
Weed
oo its weed day
ohhh
April 20 = 420
no but what is your problem?
A lot of people here work in the IT sector
I am and I work remotely
If you’re easily distracted it won’t work
i cold see that it wold work better
I love it. It isn’t for everyone - you need a separate work space from where you chill/game etc
Otherwise it's too easy to get distracted?
No, you need separation from your living space and your work space to prevent never stopping
Worth noting that IT in a bank, there's gonna be tons of red tape. You'll be doing a lot of the same work each day and you'll be limited in the options you have for troubleshooting, esp. if you're working remotely
Or resenting your living space because you can always see your work area, etc
Ah
Whether you’re distracted or not is entirely down to your personality
For me, I would do it anyways just cuz it's easier to stay organized when I dont have unrelated stuff mixed in my work stuff
Linus can see what you’re doing and he is concerned
drops lotion and toilet paper
ok i also need some reccomendations
so im soon off to highschool and i want to work in cybersecurity where shold i go?
ok i will check thease out
thank you
why do they never use a funnel when filling water loops
or better yet, a fitting with a bit of tubing, and a funnel. that way, you have some headroom for cycling the power and its a lot easier to fill with a funnel....
i've only ever built one real water loop and know to do it this way lol
and why not use an external power supply with the power connectors jumped so that way you dont have to cycle the main computer until the loop is filled.
Water going everywhere
I work in cybersecurity. To say "there are a lot of options" is putting it mildly. I can't say I recommend a cybersec degree (I have one lol), they don't really reflect your average day to day stuff (mine taught mostly programming which is only useful to me in very specific circumstances at work). A lot of people do T1 helpdesk support, then transition into cybersec after getting a certification like Sec+ or CISSP
Unfortunately there's not really a "one size fits all" recommendation. Someone recommended programming concepts earlier, and while that can be very helpful it really depends on what you work on. Most of my team couldn't write a PowerShell script if their lives depended on it, yet they are extremely competent engineers
that would not have helped in this one
better yet, disconnect cpu/gpu/atx power, wire the atx connector to turn on the psu and pumps, so you can fill it all.
and again, on this one, that wouldn't have fixed it. (But it would have been a better idea overall)
I recommend finding the things that actually interest you, like an interest in networking/programming/configuration security. All things need to be secured at some point, so you can easily find yourself a niche
"Oh but it all interests me" yeah if you figure out how to solve that problem lemme know lmao
The Bykski thing was a great idea, and almost awesome execution, but instead, they fucked it all the hell up.
you never turn on your pc with an untested water loop that needs filling. you disconnect all the power and wire the psu to turn on with only the pump, you pressure test and fill the loop that way. i learned that back in uh...2012?
I found this old pc I had ages ago so I figured out a use for it
Plex and mc server
Cause that's what's my pi doing rn
But I'm incredibly ram and cpu limited with a pi
One day, linus will find a way to water cool a water cooler. Pumps get water cooled, tubing gets water cooled, reservoir gets water cooled, fittings get water cooled
you generally dont need to water cool a pump
electric motors are extremely efficient, very little waste heat
the water in the pump cools the pump lol
We must water cool the water
Anyone here uses citra emulator?
they did that, by hooking it up to the sink lol
nuclear power plants already do that
which was insanely effective
just not cost effective lol
oh absolutely not
the water thats cooling the reactor, is cooled by another water loop through heat exchanger, so that your radioactive water doesnt get near anything else lol
until there's an earthquake / tsunami
So you're saying we need a nuclear powered pc
Molten Salt Reactors
well its usually the pipes outside of the exchanger that leak and not the exchanger.
MSR's still have that same thing, you need a heat exchanger to boil water so that you can spin a turbine.
oh i know, I was responding to the earthquake/tsunami bit
so yeah, finally got my switch going again, i havent used it in...probably close to a year
Guys im going insane i swear
low SN/unpatched too lol
So i bought a switch oled and i got bored of it
So i sold it
Then bought it a switch oled again because i wanted to play mario kart
Now i am bored again, should i sell it?
Idk what to do
send it off to get it modded
My switch only gets used for splatoon and animal crossing, and its been collecting dust for a while now cuz splatoons netcode is absolute trash
then play whatever you want up to the ps1 era.
Mine only for splatoon and mario kart 8
oled switches require an actual mod chip to modify them, while mine just requires an RCM jig and a pc.
Im scared if i sell it that i will want one again
could just get a deck and emu the switch....
then don't
or a higher end portable pc and emu the switch
it's not like it's gonna take up a ton of space to hold onto it
there is the new asus thing coming up
It kinda hurts seeing it not getting any play either
switch emu is still really hit or miss
ugh im so confused
they're saying the rog ally is going to be about 850usd
but its pretty beefy for 850usd tbh.
do you actually use the portable features of the switch
or do you just occasionally want to play nintendo exclusives
thats why i modded mine lol
i dont really need multiplayer, i'm more interested in single player games
neither
Just playing mario kart and splatoon from time to time
But im kinda getting bored of those
I think those 2 games count as nintendo exclusives
Using the Switch for its portability would be playing something like Hades- a game that you could easily run on a desktop PC, but choose to buy on the Switch instead cuz it's more portable
Of course, that's something that you also easily do on a steam deck for the same portability reasons
Thing is, these two games are like sweets for me
I would want to play them but i dont feel the need to get up to play them
In this context to boot up the switch
Well, well well
Idk, what would you do if you were in my situation?
Still, if the only reason you're keeping your Switch is for those 2 games, then teeechnically you're keeping the console for nintendo exclusives
Why own a console for just 2 games
That's a bit backwards
It was the same for wii u, to be fair
People ended up only playing splatoon and smash bros on that thing iirc lol
It would be a lot more compelling if first party games werent so fricken expensive tho
No one wants to drop 80 dollars a pop for a game that may or may not be worth it
Oh lets make it more fun: 80 dollars for the game, but also charge for a subscription to use online features
Oh lets make it even better better: charge for the online subscription, but make it so that online multiplayer is dogshit peer to peer connections on a console that originally doesnt even have an ethernet port
Btw it took u long enough so i think u used ur moms number
I think im gonna buy a ps5
I have no mom
L
With the money from the switch
I have a pc too
Use the money to upgrade the pc
So ur admiting ur under 13
Ok talk back in gutzy aiden i need ask u smth
Or moms number
My phone number is 2364568888
lol dont do that
I hope that's just a joke and you're not doxxing yourself
Eid Mubarak to all my Muslims though love you all
guys can the stema deck even run cyberpunk 2077 or are they liyng?
LOL
battery life: 14 minutes
average fps: 19
thermals: surface of the sun
graphics: POTATO
resolution: 1x1
crashes:yes
also it's 4/20 today
yes
finna test some OS
probs gonna flash windows
@full fossil please dont kill me
also i higly doubt that this "2tb flash drive" is acctualy 2tbs
No, it isn't.
you probably dont want to use it to hold any sensitive info
but flash drives nowadays are pretty replaceable with cloud storage
idk, amazon?
aww we cant do that here
Yo Where Do I Need To Go To Get Help Fixing Some Stupid Mistake I Did?(Software Fucked Up And I Cannot Change It Anymore)
i mean we can if we pay 60 dollars for shipping
unfortunate
what happend wich software?
I Accidentally Disabled Some Driver Setting Now I Cannot Turn It Back On
wich setting?
oh just restart the pc OR find the device in "unknown devices" in device manager
My school on fire 🔥🔥🔥
wait nvm
Now I’m outside in the rain
not disabled devices right...?
congrats
Where Can I Post Screenshots?
tech hat 1 or 2
Sure Thanks
I wana ask gpt the essential questions
what does it mean to live
why does everyone have an online persona
is reality a simulation
Because I literally cannot be a cat in physical reality.
Uh i was thinking of doing a custom rom , pixel ui with my redmi note 10 pro sweet any good youtube tutorials on that 💀 ?
that is true I cannot be chikin either
because im code
My current PC has a AMD Ryzentm 7 5800X3D CPU and a Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition GPU
I was thinking about getting a new gpu, but i dunno what one to get
the AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT looks appealing and has been lowering in prices but I am unsure if I should go with something that isnt current gen
why wold you need a new gpu?
More performance
is there any way to make OBS stop recording and give error message if screen is completely black? This dumb piece of @#$% updated and all my scenes went to a black screen no idea why, turning last 3 days of screen recordings into just black screen, useless.
My 3060 ti is not offering acceptable performance at 1440p
for gameing?
As in i want to match my refresh rate without making games look potato
Does Someone familiar with a problem on iphone where i can get into footplane through safari tho cant sing in, in the app?
Did you have a stroke
I just singed up now
but i have a 2060 and its compatible with 2k resolution
Compatible and acceptable performance are two different things
has both
I want to match my refresh rate
It says my accont isnt active on the app, but on safari it does work well
Did you create a floatplane.com account or did you sign in with LTT forum
Try chrome?
Footplane account
sell a kidney and buy a 4090
Not practical advice
On the browsers it does work, the app is my problem
@fossil ether ,
Do you know anything about it? May i dm you to a screenshot of what happening
z490m gigabyte do i need rgb fusion 2.0 for the rgb to work or are there like any other software?
you can cut off the link after the?
oh ok sorry
uhm, I can't tell if it's real or not but it's not a good price regardless
I bought my Corsair RM750x V2 new for 40$, now it costs 200$ in Sweden? Wtf
Not real
man usbs are expensive here
how much is expensive?
8 euros 32 gigs
oh but imagine paying the 0,94 Euro and you get a non functioning piece of plastic 😄 Thats basically Ali express for you
I wouldn't pay more than 4 Cad for 8gb here LOL
you get what you pay for. and definitly won't get 128 GB for 1 euro xD
That seems like a scam waiting to happen
nah they steal your money and send you an empty shell 😄 without content
read the reviews and you understand 😄
how else is aliexpress going to track your clicks and everything you do
imma just rob the nearest tech store for usbs

if you dont need the USB for flashing try using cloud storage
i think the cloud is a far better option than a USB tbh
of course there are still use cases for USBs but if you're storing your schoolwork and pictures try something like MEGA
ok
But then the link loses the magic 🪄 sauce
yes we need super long links
yo you guys see spacex's thing exploded today
It's just an link, not a biggie.
oh shit thay is an actual pearson
thats what she said 😦
Let em suffer on pings then
Hi all
hello
hi
im back after my 7 day mute for saying political shit
god damn alot of stuff has happened in the 7 days. im running a roblox black market and im deploying tactics used by real businessmen for this shit
my head hurts
RTX 4080 is kinda sucks value and is kinda bad tbh
its bad just like when the demon of babylon disguises himself with the cloak of the righteous
Depends on what is defined as "value"
Holy shit, 3-0 and my friend scored 2 goals in like 3 minutes.
Used to give em out everywhere for free but as soon as I need them I can’t find em
wait what? normally they just nuke the chat
you got muted for a whole ass week? thats tough
it was for "harrasing"
he confidentaly said something didnt back the source up and bitched to mods for harrasment
rule 14
ur gonna get muted again... be careful mate
it's a nuke if it gets out of hand + mute for whoever initiated it
Lot of helicopters & GA craft aloft today.
I hadn't, but yeh it's not surprising, litterally commented on one of the animations of it that it would going to be significantly more explody IRL. As long as it didn't explode over the launchpad and take all that it tis fine, if they don't get it on the third try though it will be worrying.
so yeh basically I don't expect the second launch to go much better.
Imagine if they were serious about LV development & located in an area where they could build a real launch facility.
they litterally had engines exploding on the way up
Fun Fact. If you get hurt at LTX. Ambulance fees are about the same as the USA. 🤔
They wanna put people on that thing. JFC

Errr you do remember F9 didn't get a successful launch for it first 2 launches right?
it succeeded its still in very early development
everything past the launch was just "icing on the cake"
no, they had engines flame out, not explode. although if you rewatch the launch, you will notice that just before the rocket starts to leave the ground, there are "extra" flashes of flame coming from somewhere that isnt the bottom of the rocket... which is probably the stage separation mechanism failing
“Ah yes one ticket for the half gainer with a surprise ending launch”
Everything past the failure of a launch.
It was a huge failure.
it's considered a success
By who?
it was a partial success, since the rocket they launched today is already 2 versions out of date, and the entire point of the rocket today was to see if they could get the entire thing off the ground
they always planned to blow it up, just a bit later on in the flight
the commentor said that today's test was just to see if it would launch, and everything beyond launch was just icing on the cake
someone drives a brand-new car off the assembly line, and it falls apart and calls it a huge success. That’s basically what you’re doing..
Yeah, the commentator working for the company that launched the giant exploding failure
not my words lol
It's considered a success because it didn't take out the launch infrastructure which is way more expensive than the rocket.
they got what they came for
its closer to "the first prototype of a fully assembled new type of car didnt explode when you turn the keys, but, just stops working part way through its first test drive"
not quite, it'd be like testing a floating car and having the car float in the first placd
It’s considered a success because it’s not a real company & never has been.
if it can actually go anywhere (without just collapsing) that's already progress
??!?!?!?!??
I am hype, absolutely hype, I nabbed a flipper zero before they went out of stock again
Just look at the employee working conditions and literally how many ridiculous obvious failures they’ve had with their hardware. Some fascist creep pretending to be intelligent at the helm.. it’s all a bit morbid actually.
alright bro i think that's enough
im separating my disdain for musk, from spacex, because, he has nothing to do with it really, he is just a hype man for himself and spacex helps him do that.. and based on KNOWING how technology is developed, and how it works, today was a success
Uh k
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Apollo_missions "Two Apollo missions were failures: a 1967 cabin fire killed the entire Apollo 1 crew during a ground test in preparation for what was to be the first crewed flight"
If the launch infrastructure had been lost yes I would agree it was a massive failure, even given that it's a test rocket still.
^^^ that... is a failure
but that was still not an unlikely outcome still
Soyuz 1 - failure, Soyuz 11 - failure...
Y’all must have ordered the bulk vat of kool aid.
as said I wont be worried unless the the second and third flight fail.
Launching something into space, especially for the first time, is really, really difficult. Test flights, even if they "fail" according to the general public, can be an absolutely smashing win in other regards.
because those were all completed systems, fully tested, designed to work 100%... and still failed... starship is on its first version... designed to see if its even possible
Spaces is a joke. A morbid joke.
no, some of us just know how to separate the art from the artist (even if musk isnt actually the artist and is just an arsehole)
Who died?
and anyone defending their ongoing calamitous failure of an existence I really can’t take seriously.

Pretty sure he said he sort of expected it to fail
i cant take anybody seriously who only deals in black and white reality and doesnt understand nuance and grey areas... but here we are..
and or the launch infrastructure is taken out
Though in that case, idk why he launched it
because the point was, to launch the already obsolete version of the complete assembly, to see if the concept is even possible, before you start to just put people on it without ever having fully tested it
do you have like a whole server just for your home-grown emotes?
but SpaceX is building a second launch tower for a reason
In addition to what I said earlier, a "failed" test can be waaaay more valuable than a "successful" test.
Pretty much, lmao. Makes it easy to remember names & server locations.
Me every morning-

what should I do when I get my flipper
change the gas prices
i made 1 change at work today, went from 0 failing tests, to over 2000 failing tests... was very very valuable to know that we have tests that absolutely KNOW that we cant fuck certain critical parts of our api 😄
SpaceX is a long con. The fact that people are celebrating that the thing didn’t just explode on. The pad is beyond pathetic, and I’m sorry I’m not gonna speak about it anymore in here because frankly, my brain cells are worth more to me than that bit yeah defending a clear failure of systems integration and launch infrastructure tells me that you’ve got sucked into the con.
transit you sound like you're coping and shitting on spacex for the sake of shitting on spacex i cant lie
feel free to start your own space craft company and do it better, since you seem to know how to do it
now now, children
absolutely
You understand development. There are some here who absolutely do not understand development. It's NOT a linear line of progression. It's a herd of cats moving in a general direction.
pls behave
Dude they launched more than any other launch provided for a while now, if SpaceX is a joke then every other launch provider is a laughing stock.
I don’t care what defence or excuse or reasoning you’re going to come up with it’s all a con job.
I'm gonna buy a Wi-Fi devboard as soon as I can
tbh elon should have just stuck with the space shit. The cars are neat, twitter is a hellscape
again, you are free to do better yourself... go and do it
I mean, give me 300 billion bucks
It’s not really a fair comparison
or, just apply to nasa, if you are smart enough to know better than spacex and nasa, they would jump at the chance to hire you
Plenty of billionaires make tons of idiotic choices
Do better? ITS A CON JOB.
Elon is a particularly foolish example
ANGY SOUNDS
“Mars: it’s a bit cold, but we can warm it up”
Only… we can’t
No. Make a space company that isn't a con job.
don't raise your kids there
But I want them to have extra high doses of radiation
The mars atmosphere is vanishingly thin.
The everything on mars is vanishingly thin
Do none of you listen to Elton John
Any tech horders here
no, because his music is shit 🙂
Oh you sweet summer child..
I wanna know where I can find plain motherboard boxes
Not particularly, no
The fact that there can be dust storms is more a testament of how low the gravity is & how fine the particles are with such a thin atmosphere
If it was any thinner, we actually wouldn’t be able to use parachutes
you've heard of Courier New
But have you seen this?
you can put color text in this box but idk how
Mars is definitely one of his worst ideas, up there with Twitter and his naming scheme of Teslas
not with our current technology we cant
I need one Plaid please.
yet human scale objects seem to drive around on mars just fine, even in that "low gravity"... gravity is about 1/3 of earth, but still enough to keep human scale objects on the ground.. and we know there is no atmosphere, and almost no, to no, magnetic field to stop an atmosphere from being lost to space...
🤦♂️
the tesla naming scheme is genius marketing
Elon lives in the current, not the future. Sorry that you’re under the Iron Man illusion
There’s really nothing we know of that can be done, not even in theory
you are talking to the sort of people who would have stopped in the cave, while others went to look what was on the other side of the valley, and when those who went to the other side of the valley found a better life and didnt come back, those who stay behind use that as "look, they all died... they never came back, we should never leave and never progress"... then get eaten by a bear
The moon would be more sensible as it’s inert & bases can use the terrain for shielding
[2;37mI wish i could put a Spongebob [2;31mR[0m[2;37m[2;33ma[0m[2;37m[2;33m[2;32min[0m[2;33m[0m[2;37m[2;34m[2;36mb[0m[2;34m[0m[2;37m[2;35m[2;34mo[0m[2;35m[0m[2;37m[2;35mw[0m[2;37m GIF here[0m 😭
the sort of people who just complain about problems, but never actually do anything about them
^ basically the same benefits as mars, only it’s 100 times closer and has actually important resources
the sort of people who are monday morning quaterbacks...
damn that kind of thinking kinda kills progress and innovation - imagine if the folks who developed bluetooth, wifi, the internet, computers, etc. thought "nah this is impossible lets just call it a day boys"
kinda pessimistic dont you think

Godzilla had a stroke reading this and died
thats the sort of people you are talking to... pessimistic people with a victim complex
Yes. You could also bring asteroids in orbit around the moon to mine them or use them as an anchor structure for long-range exploration.
Where are you going to get the atmosphere from
we'll make one 😎
Yeah, from what
you dont have to fill the whole planet with an atmosphere, you do what you would do on the moon, keep it in the tube you live in
the same way we do on a plane now...
i have faith in the progress of technology - the tools of today may be insufficient in our goals but they will help create the tools of tomorrow that can 🫡
Would you like to live in a plane your whole life?
Or really for any prolonged period of time?
nobody said anything about my whole life, a rocket has this great ability of being able to go somewhere ,then come back too
I need better curtains. These succ at blocking light. Tv all washed out
the reason i don't get my great ideas because i don't have a sponsor. i'm currently leeching $20-$50 a month from my aunt
usually even if i have the money my idea dies
Yeah, totally
not necessarily better - you can buy filtering curtains, block out curtains, etc.
so true, if i was the president of the world the planet would basically be 100 thousand times better
and tbh, a prolong period of time? given a better density of people within the craft? yeah, wouldnt mind living there for a while... in the same way that the people do on the IIS, or in submarines... people do it all the time
will you disable currency?
technically... rockets do not.
You would need to be there for at least about 3 years
i will siphon all the currency to myself
Yeah. These curtains are too sheer. More decorative than functional
And once you leave, you have no choice, you can’t just go back halfway there
ok... you think you are trying to talk me out of it... but you really are not
you'll get hunted by SEALs soon enough
i fear no seals, those guys cant even beat orcas how are they going to beat me
So you’re just being ignorant to the facts
how exactly would you "disable currency"
Dude if we are simply talking about basically any comment Elon has made about colonizing Mars as being Stoopid I can agree, like the idea of terraforming Mars is outrageously stupid if you comprehend the scale, and if you are having to live in a tin can anyway you might as well just build a rotating habitant inside a asteroid.
But to dismiss SpaceX because Elon says stupid things is stupid in an of it's self because SpaceX has proven it's self to be more capable than the traditional launch providers. for example F9, Dragon 2 which has less time and less money to develop a capsule vs Boeing's Starliner, but managed to get there capsule in use a whole year before Starliner had a successful test.
technically, since the cold war was just 2 guys being scared of each other if you take out their weapons no one would be able to fight 😎
the concept of computers would be unfathomable 100 years ago
not really.. im a believer in progress, and have an ability to adapt, and dont just stick to my comfort zone
Is anyone here good with sound editing?
There’s is a difference between progress and a personality cult
Progress and ridiculousness are different
the unfathomable ideas of today are the technology of tomorrow 😎
@full fossil what’s goin on?
render them all useless and make the real currency backed by trading actual items instead of numbers.
just like the old days
He’s trying to use an abacus to make Minecraft
I'm trying ti fix some popping on my audio in Audition and idk how to get the saves to match up
some people call doing a triathlon for 14 hours "ridiculousness" or "stupid" or "impossible"... but what they really mean is "not something i would do myself personally... but im too closed minded to know that its just me who doesnt want to do it"
yeah so you're still having currency, you're just changing it. I'm not against this per se - but "disable" is 100% the wrong word
i posted a photo in tech 2
it will definitely take time - might not be in our lifetimes, might not be in our kid's lifetimes, but i have faith it will happen
Of course it will happen, no crap
people used minecraft to make a pc that runs slower than an intel 4004, and also to make minecraft inception.
#audio-tech & #1027757333117415424 might help?
we'll be lucky if we last that long
well glad we agree
surely we will
Just now is not the time
gotta start somewhere pal
You’re starting too early
the early bird gets the worm
He’s trying to discover America before we developed boats
instead of gold being put in bars and on people's fingers we can use it as CPU pins! 😲
cant let those aliens get to mars before we do
haha didn't see that thanks
…
... but it already is?
So you’re a troll
well some to think of it, if we start another cold war they're gonna develop even more rockets!!!
are you going to tell me you dont believe in aliens
they are already there, but we need to catch them up so we can get elvis back
Imagine putting stock into a fascist con artists con job & not actual real technology and vehicles that exist and actually work. Hell of a thing to witness.
so true, which is why i propose a 400% increase in space force funding
386s and 486s contain more gold in their than in an entire PC nowadays I was informed
we will get there are realise that he didnt leave by force... he didnt die... he just wanted to go home
Their pins were like 90% gold
truly a tragic story
yes? so what?
I’m telling you you’re being stupid enough that it makes more sense that you’re a troll
he's not a troll as such, he's an idiot
I’m being optimistic
absolutely incorrect
And perhaps ignorant of the more common truth
you are just coping about the capabilities of humanity
if diamond has the highest thermal conductivity, when is the diamond CPu cooler coming? uncut diamond costs 10% that of cut diamond
That’s you
Fortunately, you’ve already said you, thanks
average ultra pessimist non believer - if everyone thought like you we would be living in villages manually plowing fields with cows still
they have diamond paste already which you can just crush up and put into paste
i mean diamond drill bits don't cost more than $20
so I got a old cpu I used till like december 2023 thats Q6600 quad core and could I delid it? without any tools?
What is happening I look away for 2 minutes-
We would be investing in fixing climate change, not going to a planet we can’t even inhabit
could you imagine JFK being like "nah the apollo mission is impossible, lets cancel that shit"
the highest? by how much? do you know the cost differential? Has anyone tested it?
you live in the FUTURE!!!
we are already fixing climate change
there has been more focus and discussion on climate change than any other point in history
what
and other lies you can tell yourself
this is true.
some people are trying to fix it, some people are ignoring it, and some people are actively making it worse, for money
?!? climate change has literally never been more in the spotlight
I believe aliens almost certainly exist somewhere in the universe and maybe somewhere in the galaxy, but that they have visited us on a regular occsion butt probing people... na.
can I make 30 dollars with that, need some 8gb ram module
There has been more worry from climate change than any other time in history
yes. this is true. it's also true that SFA is being done.
it being in the spotlight, and people actually doing something about it... are two different things
Hell, germany turned it's nuclear power off, in the stupidest move ever
this is ten years old and swept under the radar https://youtu.be/IJaEf3Tb00c
germany doesnt want to get chernobyl'd or fukushima'd
“We are already fixing climate change” breh. No. What reality are you plugged into?
working on it at least
nuclear is a bad word, everyone should have just renamed their nuclear plants to fission plants
Not a reasonable concern
the paris accords, COP, the kyoto protocol, the montreal protocol, yada yada
Are those carbon capture programs actually feasible?
not at all, it's simply "nukular bad"
No. It’s accelerating & there’s more carbon and methane emissions than ever
i thought they decided to shut them off after the 2011 fukushima disaster and deemed the risk too high
no. it was just cheaper to buy russian gas and burn that, than it was to run their nuclear plants
except that the risk isn't too high, particularly because - germany isn't japan
and i agree this is a very stupid decision
...Why has nobody ever built a nuclear reactor in a mountain?
oh
because it is hard.
But is it smart?
building it? or.. the mountain its self?
There’s been like 2 big incidents in history, and they are far less dangerous than other sources
What happened at Chernobyl would’ve been unique to Russia, because of the reactor designs, and what happened at Fukushima happen, because their nuclear plant was on the coast of a country prone to tsunami. Germany, switching off its nuclear power plants, had nothing to do with any of that. It was an idiotic, knee-jerk reaction to a issue that could not have happened in a landlocked country with newer reactors.
Not really
i'd assume high elevation/slope angle? probably be too hard for a foundation maybe and mountains look way cooler without a giant smokestack coming out of it
Nuclear power plants store waste in pools outside the reactor
not just the reactor design, it was the shear incompetence of those in charge too
nono, in a mountain
in a volcano?
Putting the waste there is super expensive and people would get angry

Nuclear waste is radioactive for like 40,000 years, and we need to put it somewhere
we could use musk's rockets to fire the waste water into the sun?
He’s saying put it in a mountain
im saying put it in the sun...
Stupid idea
Put the reactor in the mountain
Where do you put the waste
put the reactor in the sun?
Forgetting that chernobyl happened because they didn't have a pressure vessel which every other reactor in the world had which would have prevented a radiation leak and that they built it stupidly in other ways as well and that they violated the procedures for the power plant because the engineers knew that it was badly designed.
Fukushima happened because of a tsunami that killed over 100,000 people, how many tsunamis has Germany ever had?
Gen 4 reactors will be far safer and far less of an issue with nuclear waste because they can run hotter and therefore produce fewer extremely dangerous isotopes.
fukushima also happened because the power company ignored reports that the reactor was probably unsafe
It’s a huge amount of work to put the waste in the sun; you need to remove all the velocity, which is a tremendous amount of energy (less than it takes to launch it out of the solar system). It’s incredibly expensive too, way too expensive to ever consider. It’s also just not safe enough, we can’t have rockets blowing up with them ever, not once in 100, 1000, 10,000, it has to be insanely rare
i was informed my purchase of case fans would arrive today, but it's been six hours later than usual
i know, im taking the piss... i shouldnt have had to have said that
The human body has actually evolved with uranium background radiation in the environment. It’s the isotopes in the spent fuel which are the real issue.
it would be easier to fire the rocket into the depths of space, aiming at exactly nowhere... then it would be to get it to hit the sun
Plutonium, especially since plutonium is not naturally occurring
in fact... it would be easier to get it to hit another star, than it would be to hit our own
Where do other reactor facilities put the waste?
Fusion reactors will be far far far safer and more efficient and product almost none
into the ground
(if we ever get them to work)
Sarcasm.
Yes, I’m aware, but we are still working on that
In pools outside the reactor
it's actually cheaper to yeet waste out of the solar system than it is to yeet it into the sun
Eh, we probably will in our lifetimes
I said that in the message
but right now, they use more power than they produce, so they are a failure, so why bother?
Typically, they store the spent fuel in cooling pools in the reactor building until the rods are cool enough to transport to a long-term storage facility or a re-manufacturing facility
See here's the thing, there's this really, really neat concept called material transportation that we can do with, get this- Vehicles on roads
They actually had plans to increase the wall height I believe, but it also probably wouldn't have stopped it, having the generators in the basement when one of your primary ways the reactor could be damaged is loss of power due to a tsunami, also probably not a good idea.
What happens if one gets in a car accident
There is a place I think in California that has open air fuel cooling, but I forget where that is
yes, it turns out the design was poor and should have been fixed
You have the bad, so you need to be extremely careful moving it
people move nuclear weapons around all the time
We do it all the time!
Erm as far as I am aware the only issue was the wall height.
nuclear weapons are not nuclear waste
hazardous materials transport is hardly some unexplored science
^
yes, they're nuclear materials surrounded by conventional high explosives, which is clearly much safer
Materials that can make the area toxic for 40,000 years is something we don’t like moving, so they just store them onsite
The tsunami triggered by the earthquake in March 2011 would’ve topped over most seawalls and it did
ok and how do you think we get this material to long-term storage where we bury it
they store them onsite because NIMBY's don't want us to build final nuclear waste storage facilities in the middle of the desert
We often just leave them in pools
and you could literally shoot one with a gun, or drop it out of a space ship and have it hit the ground, and other than making a hole in it, or, pile driving into a pancake... they wont blow and cause a thermonuclear blast, because thats not how the chain reaction works... it has to be very controlled and blown up in a very specific way
Fun fact: “the middle of the desert” is still a living ecosystem
to be fair though they a built not to go off, for example the US accidently dropped a nuclear bomb on there own turf and it didn't go off.
that doesn't matter
if the high explosives go off
you're still spreading radioactive material in a wider radius than you would otherwise
like I mean from 35k feet
there are still 2 on the sea floor just off California that they cant find
It did come very close though
uranium is incredibly dense and very heavy for its size, so likely what has happened is it has sank through the sediment down to the rock below and will never be found
isn't finland already building long term storage sites?
i store the nuclear waste
Plus those nuclear bombs weigh like a ton and a half.
I think they dug one into a mountain or something
finn and transit seem to think they are smarter than the people at nasa and literal rocket scientists, so they should know best, ask them 🙂
Erm should point out though just because a nuke doesn't go off and isn't even particularly radioactive, like plutonium which is what bombs are actually made of is stupidly stupidly poisonous.
I only think I’m smarter than musk
It’s not about smart, it’s just about knowing information.
people are allowed to learn information. Shocking revelation I know.
And most of musk’s mars supporters
There isn't a whole lot of nuclear material in a nuke itself.
like 1 milligram of plutonium will kill you
it's like... two handfuls
It’s a spicy grapefruit
that is from toxitiy not radiation btw.
musk doesnt do anything at spacex other than act as a hype man, he has no involvement with the running of it... but you seem to think he does, and you didnt complain about musk, you complained about spacex and called the test a failure and both of you claimed you knew better... so yes... you claimed you knew better than literal rocket scientists ...
Pretty sure high level waste can degrade stainless steel, that’s what the rear problem is
Plutonium is not found in nature therefore, we have no natural defence against it through evolution
it's pretty rad we use concrete & lead, then
Also y'know, neutron absorbers
I seem to think he is the one who started it, and I think that he is the one who initiated the big mars hype, that’s what I think is stupid
Rockets fail all the time
the US is missing six nukes it has lost over the years
the soviets/russia probably more then a few in subs that have sunk
he bought a company and renamed it... other people who actually know what they are doing, run it and come up with what they are doing.. and the whole mars mission came from nasa
thats why nasa are pumping money into spacex and starship... because its THEIR project
@thorny axle imagine launching a car into space to get investors and then having your big day and the rocket explodes and nearly destroy the launchpad but “huge success”.
lets see that grain silo fucking flyyyy
that's literally how rocket science works
its so fun to see spineless people back down from things everyone saw them say... you said it, just own up to it
well
usually in rocket science it's preferable to avoid rockets exploding when you don't want them to
finn and transit know better than that though... they think that the first flight should have carried people to mars, and back, and found elvis on the way back
Here's an excellent guide on how to learn the hardships of rocket science-
Play Kerbal Space Program
reminds me of Nikolai Ceausescu or Kim Il Sung. 😬
it is preferable of course, but it's hard to avoid entirely
Pretty sure those don’t do perfectly against it either
They prevent radiation, sure, but will they last 40,000 years?
nothing is perfect, go eat a banana
for the armchair scientist stuff I've seen in this channel the last 20 minutes, it'll do
You only need it to do enough
you are exposed to all kinds of radiations every day
By “not perfectly,” I mean we need to start thinking again
shame project HARP didn't work out, the inventor of that wanted it to launch satellites into orbit cheaply
by firing them out of a giant 16 inch gun
I mean, rockets fail
@manic torrent radiation & clone disease.
Oh wait I read your reply wrong & didn't check the message you replied to
Not like nasa hasn’t had plenty of failures
The rocket launch itself wasn’t a failure, I just think the idea of trying to start a “mars base” is a poor choice
oh my god, a launch that is probably gonna fail failed
wtf clone disease? literally the top hit for clone disease is a translated crohns disease study
Bananas are all clones.
They don't need to last 40k years the material is about as safe as when you dug it up after about 10k years
...... I'm familiar with bananas, yes
bananas are not clones. That's not what clone means.
Yeah, so it just needs to last 10k years. Same point again
Because all of the plants are clones, they are extremely vulnerable to this fungus because none of them are genetically diverse
I also completely fail to see what this has to do with nuclear power, weapons, or radiation.
yes. I know all of this.
Well there is a plan to vitrify it as a glass so it wont leak ever.
Bananas soak up radiation from the soil, and they’re also starting to be impacted by the fungus on a mass scale
like ok, banana contains a extraordinarily small amount of potassium
That sounds a bit better. As I said, we need to start thinking again is the level
??????
'clone' implies human cloning. Propagation of plants through cutting is not 'cloning'
im sorry this is not how it works
They are literally genetically identical, every single one of them - they are cloned.
literally everything soaks up radiation from soil. that's not why bananas are radioactive.
while yes they are the same kind, disease does not magically spread, you need a medium
like all humans are pretty close to identical, when ebola happened i dont magically get it
no, the point is valid, and it happened before.
the bananas of today are not the same as the bananas of the 70s and before. They were wiped out.
To be fair though I think the real solution is to go for breeder reactors as they can use nuclear waste as there fuel to generate 20x more enegy than they orignally did in a burner reactor, and because you will have fissioned all of the transuranic it's safe after like 300 years
yes, but disease does not spread without a medium
Yeah, now you have weapons-grade materials?
good, now we can get defense funding
Seriously
hey, reactors aren't free
now we get the big money, so we can build and rnd more
Honestly, I just hope fusion is developed before the shit really hits the fan
Because it’s not far off
you can think that, but literally nobody uses it that way
Fusion wont be in service for at least another 20 something years
Probably. Hopefully that’s soon enough
At least I personally dont think so
Eh there are molten salt fuelled designs where you can fuel it with a mix of nuclear waste and plutonium as start up fuel and your feed fuel is uranium and nuclear waste, and that plutonium mixed with nuclear waste is useless for making bombs out of because the effort entailed would just make it easier to make a reactor specifically designed to make plutonium
Really can’t say much more than that
we'll probably get most of our energy from renewables before we manage to get fusion working
Not that it matters anyway, the Potassium-K40 inside bananas is insignificant even compared to background radiation we're exposed to anyway
battery and renewable tech is advancing way faster than fusion research
since there's actual commercial applications for them already
Ah yes, Solar, perfect. And just have tremendous amounts of plastic waste every 25 years
which is the point of the banana comparison - to show that some radiation is normal
(Inspiration from California pushing for Solar)
sure?
still better, cheaper and much more proven than fusion
Worse, cheaper, and more proven*
yeah, all solar is solar panels /s
solar shits on fusion power right now, and for the forseeable future
That’s great in practice, but how is it in theory?
The issue is energy storage
the plastic waste would be negligible compared to other power sources
that's not an issue, battery advancement is both profitable and useful
Well duh, it can be worse all it wants, if it's cheap to implement it has its value
Yeah, Fusion definitely has waste greater than solar
Erm you know if we took all the batteries we have from everything there is like minutes worth of power...
batteries are not getting THAT much better
Now you just need to solve the great problem of plastic waste
we're already developing industrial-scale energy storage
There are quite a few different energy storage techs
Not going to happen in our lifetime, deal with it
How long do they last?
Yes maybe we get to an hour
currently, massive heat batteries are being deployed for steel production
You never know
but like we need months worth of energy storage
which is a lot.
it won't replace energy input, but it'll help stabilize energy input into critical manufacturing steps and reduce costs
incorrect.
No winter
best solution to energy is to not put all our eggs in one basket and diversify our energy sources, because fossil fuels being so hard to replace is a result of not doing that
Nup, I do know. That's not something you fix within 100 years
Best solution is to invest in the best solution as much as we can
Not the actual "this can power up a whole damn city" level of batts
fossil fuels being so hard to replace is because it's cheap and was very very readily available, and could be easily scaled to meet higher demands when needed
You definitely know the future, 100%. Sorry god, but stop lying to yourself
building out any other infrastructure would've taken more time for less gain
solar still have quite a long way to go
it's only cheap because it has a shitload of subsidized infrastructure
yes
how are you going to argue that renewables and battery tech isn't good enough while defending fusion
^
And the reason for needing to be replaced is waste, not “putting our eggs in one basket.” By your logic, we should keep fossil fuels.
I italicized "was"
Sure, I think it is, just not as the ultimate solution
Having a 193 countries and its thousands of companies work together to not throw plastics everywhere and getting billions of people to not do it is not something you do within 100 years, cope
it's obv not great for the environment, but neither is nuclear
it is not good enough because it is not good enough, and fusion still have a long way to go as well
Winter and sometimes the wind blows less, okay the output isn't going to be 0, but like 50% so you would need like a month if you were just going to rely on Solar and wind to make sure that you just don't go without power for weeks at a time during winter.
renewable also wear out over time
it wouldn't be the worst idea to keep a small amount of fossils fuels in use where it's viable
so?
research and development into renewables and batteries are constant
… I’m not hearing this correctly, am I?
Nobody says remove fossil fuels, just reduce the reliance on it
how would I go about delidding a Q6600?
no, fusion research is wildly expensive and entirely academic
you don't, it's soldered
Solar is a great intermediate step to fusion
there is currently no commercial application for fusion
first, go to the museum
if you must, toss it into the oven
I literally used a Q6600 till last year december
throw it across the street then get something newer
Does Nukes count as a commercial application?
if only there was a way to just combine power output from disparate sources
Yeah, fossil fuel isn't your archenemy, we're just using way too much of it
the pc died due to a HDD issue I believe
no because nobody actually wants to use it\
I don't think you should be relying on fusion to ever happen, not something I am willing to bet civilzation on.
but my defence budget
Nukes are a show of power
I used one for a long time also, but ... it's time to move on.
like yeh it's a cool concept and we should be spending money on seeing if it will work.
everybody with some research can do fusion, getting the materials required is hard (I've tried, lots of government protection around them)
There is nothing wrong with using solar and wind until we get fusion
I've moved on, I'll take the q6600 out of the mobo
Yeah, definitely
anyways, you cannot shit on a power source just because "currently it have no commercial use"
it will happen eventually, but the idea that it will be the best way to produce energy in any scenario will not come to pass- renewable sources are always going to be cheaper, just less energy-dense
That’s definitely the problem
yes you can
solar, wind, hydro, etc. etc. are all much better investments than fusion
we don't need to reduce usage of fossil fuels in fifty years
we need to reduce them now
cheaper in the long run *
Waiting for Fusion with fossil fuels is the worst idea we have
it's hella expensive given it's still considered new tech...
building a few wind turbines is incredibly cheap for the power output
Investing in other clean sources until we get fusion is the way to go
where
how do people hold motherboards these days? it stings from the bottom!
Obv we should not wait for fussion with burning fossil, but ditching Fusion is not the idea either
If we never get it, we have other clean sources
corners and edges?
literally anywhere, problem is finding the space to put them
The more pressing issue I believe is that they are intermittent, and that means building peeker plants which are half as efficient as regular plants so you actually end up releasing more CO2 if that is your option.
^
good idea
that's what I meant by where
that's what energy storage is for, yes
nuclear is the way to go currently
Fusion is the goal, but at the mean time, we also need other source to fill the void
its cheap but hard to start up
nuclear is not the only way to go
you want to find where wind currents are easily formed like valleys, but you also don't want to block things like bird migration paths
Also kickstarting a continuous fusion
Nuclear technically generates less than it uses
Without it, we’re doing no better than nothing until it comes out
and the waste has to go somewhere
solar panels long term have the potential to be hugely efficient
current solar panels are what, 12% efficient or something?
Yeah, that’s the only real problem with fission plants
And as I said you need like a months worth of energy storage for the winter when we are like at minutes at the moment, and battery technology just is not going to improve that much.
well solar in theory generates a lot less than it uses, but what it is using is being used anyways
i.e. the sun
guys how do I take off the stock intel cooler I don't see any screws
no you don't?
unless you live in like, one of those places where there's no sun for months solar panels still work in the winter
Another one we could look into in the future is geothermal
wind turbines still function when it's cold
right it's much too inefficient to generate electricity from ground heat
even if we do live in a world where nuclear is cheap and fusion reactors are a thing, wind turbines and solar panels aren't going to become irrelevant
with a lot lower efficiency yeah
sure?
you still don't need months of battery capacity per city
the future is nuclear like I said
when nuclear becomes cheap is when our world is coming to an end
Halving your energy throughout the winter means that you need to have either capacity somewhere else, or have enough storage to replace it.
how is it coming to a end? with regulation they're a pretty good and a safe energy source
what regulation is gonna purify nuclear waste
Honestly, in a world where fusion is cheap, all other energy sources ARE irrelevant
You need a hard excess of energy to offset when it is being used when you cannot generate enough
hole in the ground
nuclear waste is stored deep under the earth
and plus the energy loss during storage
there is some cool stuff happening with modular nuclear reactors
literally, a goddamn hole.
or you can just
have enough capacity anyways
We can use a combination of everything we don't have to phase out "old tech"
and nuclear reactors don't generate much dangerous waste
Erm actually that is only true in 1 place in the world.
You wish that was fine
if you want to have enough cap during low efficiency times it would generate way enough when it is in high eff times
if the future is something we're considering it's gonna be the exact same as carbon dioxide
erm where have you seen a nuclear power plant leak in the last 5 years
yeah, so?
you just have really cheap energy in the summer
and it is not economical to do that
nuclear waste? well it's solid so it's not just going to float away
coal power plants let off more radiation then a nuke one does even with the waste created
It’s highly corrosive, kind of goes right through stainless steel on a timescale of waste
and in some country energy prices went up dramatically with the announcement of nuclear energy decommission
Do you realize making those panels require, power, energy and money?
About to contaminate a whole aquifer for a ton of people
do you think natural gas extraction is free
they does not come out of thin air, and economics is a thing
are LNG terminals cheap and easy to build
And more importantly in the future, turn into plastic waste in 30 years
why are you guys trying to dislike nuclear energy? its proven to be safe multiple times.
fuck if we're talking this... how much did it cost to get you the food you eat
i.e. Energy storage
you store the energy you make excess, so you can use them when you does not make enough
Meltdowns aren’t really a problem, but waste is
Meltdowns don't happen without someone stupid doing something stupid
if you are being ironic, like nuclear energy is one of the safest forms of energy.
there is a already solution to waste, how do you think tens of nuclear power plants operate?
waste is perfectly safe, most of it isn't radioactive and is encased in concrete
I am talking about the talk of "generate enough energy when it is the lowest eff, and disregard energy storage is the more economical method"
no I am not, I am serious its the best way in my opinion
How do you think they store it
so use fossil fuels more in the winter and less in the summer?
solar panels don't work at night so
no
a quick google search will lead you right into it
Correct
they generate so little waste that it can just be stored on-site for now
you'll need energy storage if a significant portion of your grid is solar
But do you think that storing it like that is perfectly safe?
So generate enough excess energy to offset the decrease during winter
yeah ofc
no shit sherlock how else did you think it'd work
Turns out, it isn’t
Waste is extremely corrosive; it goes right through the stainless steel it’s held in
if nuclear waste somehow gets out of the concrete its encased in, you have much bigger problems than radiation
the other guy says "just build enough to just generate enough during winter"
Read the news, it’s about to contaminate a huge water supply
yes, why do you think an another chernobyl hasn't happened? cuz we have regulations, and those apply for waste.
yes
in addition to having energy storage
source?
however
you don't need to store months of capacity
coal has caused more radioactive contamination than nuclear waste
renewables don't just stop functioning in the winter
and also because soviet safety standards were bad at the time*
you obv dont need months of capacity since you are still making power, just less
Chernobyl happened (according to a prof's friend's friend) because some dumbasses were seeing how hot they could run the bloody thing
well you can't copy links here but death per terrawatt hour is comparable to wind or solar.
You can send links?
chernobyl happened because the soviets were like "hm but what if we don't fix this glaring flaw in our reactors and don't tell our operators about it"
Sure, I never said nuclear waste was bad, just that waste is still a genuine concern
you probably still need about 2-3 months worth of energy to offset the decrease during winter, if you winter is about 5-6 months per year
I’m not talking about meltdowns
ah my bad I was trying to send it as an image
it's really not though
how does solar kill people
do they fall off the roof during installation
Clearly didn’t read the source material
the same authour as multiple articles focused on unsafe water etc., clearly fearmongering to get more clicks, provide a more reliable source
again, it's encased in concrete, and by the time that concrete erodes, it will cease to be radioactive
except for a very small percentage of waste that will need to be buried
Lots of stories, but I still think it's entirely possible because they didn't have the right training, they disabled some safeties to test out the reactor and the entire thing just dominoed
Yea how else do you think solar kills people?
well it was a known flaw in the reactor's SCRAM, but the soviets didn't want to spend the money to fix it so they just covered it up
I'm a linux user and I have enough money to get a new m2 mac and put asahi on it. Are there any laptops from other brands with similar batery life?
Might be sunburn to skin cancer actually
does asahi still have really good battery life?
I assume asahi is not so tightly integrated with the silicon
in addition to the authors multiple other fearmongering articles, it fails to specify the isotope of the radium which tells it if it came from a enrichened factory (for nuclear power plants) or not, and radium is found naturally so it isn't enrichened.
Surprisingly they did a really good job of reverse engineering applesilicon and making drivers
a bit too much sun beam does that as well(the kill)
