I can also understand the alternative, though, because in a text chat you want it to be as fast as you can type. The problem is, there's no double checking put into it, so it leads to the same type of "twitterization" that we see everywhere on the internet. If every place forced users to stop and really think about what they were typing because their message was held to a higher standard, then a lot of the trolling and toxicity that we run into on a regular basis would be significantly less common (probably because people just looking to troll wouldn't be as enthused).

my hot take: IBM Model M keyboard is a severely overrated keyboard. Yes, it is a good keyboard in certain aspects, and a lot of the high rating, i suspect, is due to nostalgia. Okay so here's the solution:
Rather than sending a message, you type a command to the bot, that throttles the messages and then sends it from the bot. Otherwise the message gets deleted.

Bot would need to be highly scalable and would depend on discord API speed. 1000 people sending messages regularly could still fill up a lot since I think receiving messages and deleting them takes longer than anything. So this could be a lackluster solution. Plus, if you had to type /say :pog: every time people might get sick of it

The game itself isn't necessarily bad, the launch was bad. Same reason why people shit on no man's sky and a bunch of other games. Bad launches turn people against the game altogether (usually). All they had to do was suspend release until the game was finished, but they didn't. It's a shame, but in the end the game did become fairly successful.
