the issue with fusion is not really self sustained power - its steady output at high capacity

say you have a fusion reactor going steady no issues - the power deman is not always going to be the same as the output - you need a buffer
unlike coal/oil/nuclear which you have basically throttles to control output fusion doesnt work that way
