yep, you need a 3D printer to manufacture the mechanical parts, and a phone, to act as the sensor. and then you can run some software on your phone which moves the phone round on the motorised parts and takes photos, and converts that into a 3D model

apple's m series silicon is pretty fast, it can't run games well because they have to run it through emulation and translation layers

I tolerate macOS on my MacBook because it's mostly a productivity/browsing machine, I'd suggest giving it a shot. The trackpad gestures are fantastic
