A lot of people got burned with Vega and/or RDNA1 and haven't been able get past it. Which is fair. RDNA2 has been solid, it took a little to get the drivers/software there but it's finally there. But it's going to take a bit for a lot of people to see them outside of 'the other guy'. Performance to Power ratio for the normal gamer will most likely be what will help if it holds up to the announcement's statements.

Yea, RDNA1 definitely lit a fire under NVidia, but early it had some issues on the software/driver side. It's definitely better now, and fan curves on earlier cards are still 💩 and that causes issues for regular users.

yea, between the open source community helping get RDNA up to snuff for Linux and that helping get their windows side working better has definitely made HUGE strides for AMD in the GPU market.
