yes, that's similar to removing the battery
yems
Random question do I need any program to use floppy disks? Besides the floppy disk drive it self
no
Windows has native support, so if you use that then no
Okay just checking
windows bad
just about the only storage media you cant use in modern windows is Cassette
11 yes, 10 no
10 isn't bad anymore its just Mediocre
10 is fine honestly. i still prefer Mac over it by a long way but it's nowhere near as bad as it was on release
I probably need a new gpu soon…
Maybe I’ll buy a rx 6650xt
Still black screening problems while I try to use my pc
😢
How to enable safe mode
Jesus Christ I am getting seizure lights from my monitor
My computer seems more stable after running DDU
Also it’s Deepavali today
This is tiring though
Now I can’t do my studying
Where should I post it?
here only dude
Which channel tho cause I can’t in public
you need fp or twitch sub
Well it’s not letting me

Okay
question, if the flash ran with milk, would the milk spoil faster because it's interacting with the speedforce or no
is flash just fast or is he manipulating time?
he's not just fast, he's got this weird speedforce thing which does all sorts of weirdness
meaning he can time travel and stuff, not sure exactly how the flash's super speed works
but i DO think it's just moving really fast
lost me, i've never cared for superhero movies
as he does require more calories canonically
so i believe it's just moving really fast
would he die if he got on a pair of really tall stilts?
elaborate
like when he smashes his face into the ground when he inevitably trips? orr
mmhm
they really gave this man plot armor huh
i think no human should survive having their head explode like a watermelon after falling from a pair of stilts 5 stories tall or some shit tall.
you think correctly but also not with much foresight
If my teacher is mad at me. Should I buy her a new pc?
why?
Lol I saved money from that.
what
do you happen to be the son of elon musk or what
No i am a son of a parent that gives me celeron laptops
we have XAEA-12 in the server
you dare butcher X Æ A-12's name
feel so bad for that kid
their school life is going to be disastrous all because elon wanted to pull a publicity stunt
wasn't it pronounced Kyle or some shit?
Idk man, and I really don’t care, take it up with the person who was trying to defend it
I shared that to show how damn pointless y’all’s bickering was
Well I really need a job now so I have money to buy a new gpu
At least my exams are ending soon and I could start work in mid November
But for now I might jerry rig a solution to use the igpu
they must hate you if they are giving you the most bottom of the barrel systems.
or they're just ignorant
My advice to get a gaming setup?
- Be absolutely determined.
- Do a side job (for me that's selling noodles) like mowing other people's lawn
And for those who think of giving up, I have worked on this setup for 2 years and honestly, it's worth it.
hey! we have Guy Eldoon in the server!
I don't know who's that
dude that sells noodles in Ace Attorney
can you serve me some ramen
sure (I have to see if I still have stock tho)
Ayooo
eat the bowl thats on his head. he wears a noodle bowl on his head
ayo
i was looking through LTT's old videos and found this video with the ogs but riley too. Is this from when linus was still doing contract work for ncix?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jN3yL6Geni0
🤔 f i killed my kezboard by accident
well just ordered some wormir k61 as replacement
🤔 48€ for an kezboard with hotswap switches
the new ones are alright for basic tasks especially with linux
i have a n3160 chromebook and its enough for youtube and basic applications but nothing beyond that
good luck gaming on one
they do that okay at best. your best off using Athlon instead.
yeah the gpu is going to be a lot better on an AMD
at that low budget you’re better off going used
with an older intel i7 and nvidia gpu
what if you want something small that can still game? hey RDNA 2 is here may as well use it right.
yeah nobody is having a good gaming experience on a $250 brand new athlon laptop
those basic laptops are passively cooled though so they run silent

i wanted a m1 macbook air for a little while but decided against it
i never said High Refresh rate 4K Spiderman. manage your expectations and you'll have a decent time.
they should be enough for minecraft or roblox
i used to play mario kart double dash on my a4-6210 all in one
ran at about 45fps so i used the pal version as its limited to 50fps instead of 60
it’s just a bad recommendation
that's not an Athlon but yeah it works. still waiting to see the Athlon 7220U in the real world.
i would never recommend anyone buy a celeron/pentium/athlon machine because they’re practically e waste straight out of the factory
at the lower budgets going used is so much better
my parents dont like buying used electronics what about in that situation
used can get you a really good deal but i can see why these cheap laptops exist
never recommended them to anyone, just that they are decent now RDNA 2 has been slapped on. gaming Chromebook anyone?
they are enough for what they are made for (basic tasks, office)
my dolphin always runs slower than that yet i'm on an i5 2450M and a GT540M.
hardware from the dark ages
does it really make sense? no. but does it based on my experiences? yes
"you guys wanna go back to the Dungeons And Dragons days?"-Joel
we do not speak of those times
Chromebook gaming is a joke.
Just get a renewed thin and light and put Linux on it.
its the same thing really
It's not. Debian sucks.
ChromeOS is Gentoo
Wut
i thought we all knew this. ChromeOS is built on Gentoo
Chrome os is Gentoo based but the environment you can install is debian unless they changed it to full gentoo
Which is kinda dumb
yeah ironically the most usable distro is the most advanced
Gentoo isn't unstable and neither is arch. I wish people would stop saying so
Jesus, i love linux and Admit its not 100% perfect.
Arch is stable until it's not
*Stable until user downloads a million Desktop tweaks
me:
xorg breaks
💀
i can fix any problem im having but when xorg breaks i just redo the installation
because fuck fixing xorg
All these Docks and floating panels. top bars and High refresh rate Animated backgrounds, yeah bound to be a bit fuckin unstable don't ya think?
oh, there is also the fact that i cant use my type c displayport of my laptop because its connected directly to the dgpu which is nvidia
a lot of cobbled together crap pmuch
what animation
shits flat as it gets
well they did fix nvidia issue but type c port still fucky wucky
im not typing all this to shit on linux, i love it but there are minor inconveniences
not talking about yours, talking about the average Arch desktop. frick if i know what it looks like
ah, average ricer b like
NGL if you like Docks, then get out. they just suck. the entire idea is to take up more screen, wtf
how do i close minecraft
i use windows with nothing on my desktop, everything is tucked away into the start menu
set your taskbar to 40 pixels and you are fine.
desktop is for when im doing actual work
Hidden docks are a thing
The biggest issue is they default to the bottom, which ends up taking more screen space than if they were on the sides, cuz 16:9
Sounds like a skill issue imo. The only issue I've ever had is grub updates which can be fixed by a hook or just switch to systemd boot if that's your init system
hey, can anybody who knows their way around blender help me out a lil
Aha! You've activated my 'skill issue' trap card!
Technically no OS is unstable if you're experienced enough to mitigate it
Sanic, how are some people so good at answering questions with USELESS responses when asking for support?
I'd almost say it was on purpose some of the time.....
I've tired to figure out another reason. Generally it's someone doing something they shouldn't or a "cursed" system which happens on all OS
Like, I have 3 arch systems, one of them is more then a year old at this point and they are all fine. Ones a fucking raspberry pi for christ sake
If "one year" is a benchmark for stability? Then windows is also generally really stable.
Where you're very experienced in something, it's easy to become blind to the difficulties of average users. Not just computers, but anything
It's a marvel, really
I can sit down in front of any KDE Plasma desktop and crash it within 15 minutes just by fiddling with desktop customization settings. Anyone who says it's stable just isn't trying to break it hard enough. 😉
God forbid if you tried to install it in a machine with a windows drive present
🤔 how are outemu switches?
I wish I could say the same
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1463046-gpu-fans-stopped-spinning-after-installing-an-ssd-and-formatting-windows/#comment-15620825
This guy... I have no more fucking words.
That's the shiniest 1050 I've ever seen
Something about other EFI partitions being present during install, even if it's another drive entirely
After windows ran some updates my linux EFI just kicks me back to the BIOS. I can fix it, but it's just a pain
Same
I believe the trick is to have the windows drive physically removed
Maybe I reinstalled windows fresh after that? I can't remember
Regardless, "stable" is not a word I'd use to describe it
I'm so damn close to never touching it again. Once I get a working Star Citizen install & setup my cuda environment properly, I'm golden
Hello
Skill issue
i wonder if anyone else has overpowerd psus for their system
never gonna happen
im on my 3rd character reset this year
Oh yeah? I haven't reset in years (aside from the server wipes of course)
There are plenty of linux players. There's an entire org of them. I just haven't gotten around to the necessary config changes to do it
every time its happend i logged out in my ships bed and tried to log back in and i would get insta kick
I was gonna ask if you're bed logging lol
so now all ships with beds are useless
They always were :P
Well, if you bed log in deep space, it works fine. Most of the issues come when you do it near stations/planets
id like them to work so i dont have to spend 30 mins minm getting out of hurstons fkn atmosphere
I usually QT and stop mid-flight, cut engines and bed log. Done that dozens of times with no issues (a couple times I spawned at a station but never needed a reset)
Lmao every server wipe I fly my lightest ship to everus and just claim any big ships there
Though I really enjoy the slow parts, like long QT and atmo exits
but i hate how long it takes
execpt the sheer amount of volumetric clouds there makes the frames go way down
Turn those off silly goose
no, it adds to the scale and realism
🤔 well lets hope the 13$ outemu greens are better as generic red switches
Facts, that's why I tolerate it :)
i hate red mechanical switches lol
I've heard good things
tbh 25fps in sc is alot smother than other games
doesnt matter what brand but reds alwazs feels so mushy
It's a sim, the MSFS2020 fans can attest to not needing many frames
msfs is totally playable at 30
🤔 well i gues my purple wormir k61 with green switches will be nice well needa wait an monrth tho aliexpress lmao
#peripherals !!!!
I'm just glad they're not bothering to optimize these systems that will soon be replaced anyways
it is funni tho that the 5800x3d beats the 13900k and every new ryzen in sc
Cache do be like that
🤨 why is the german/european pc hardware and periphals market so bad sometimes
That's the case for quite a few games
yeah sc does love its l3 cache
Are you in any SC orgs? I'm looking for a new one as my old one was.... toxic af
not at the moment
rn im just exploring every system
i bought the game during invictus week
This year? Nice!
ive done a few free flys before that
I got it in 2017... have more ships than I'd care to admit.. and not many ppl to crew them
Every org has like 15 carraks and 10 hammerheads so it's not even worth the trouble lmao
Especially once the ship component damage comes into play, those things are gonna be sooo hard to maintain
Is Java even worth keeping on the system anymore, or should I uninstall it?
Do you use it?
Very rarely? I never notice it.
Ditch it, not like it's hard to get back
Alright
average based maple pfp take
OMG Sanic, the dude managed to fuck up pictures of the card AGAIN
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1463046-gpu-fans-stopped-spinning-after-installing-an-ssd-and-formatting-windows/#comment-15620828
Windows would have given me at least a few BSOD at this point. Opening the Nvidia control panel alone should do the trick.
this was painful to read
Every time I'd had BSOD it's been a hardware or driver issue. Windows hasn't really done it "just because" for some time now.
I'd say probably from Vista onwards they really have been an indicator of "something is seriously wrong."
But yet most of this information it commonly available, people just refuse to use it. I in one instance gave a person a link to a short arch wiki page that should have fixed their issues but they instead use stack exchange.
I've also asked users why they were using x before and got "non answers".
More then 30% of the BSOD on vista were Nvidia drivers and major of them were drivers in general.
All OS are surprisingly stable it just so happens all the shitty drivers are on windows.
Why? Because most of them are baked into the kernel on Mac and Linux and or are FOSS.
Coming back to Linux after a decade, the information was readily available, but I had no idea what anything I needed to look up was actually called anymore. And that's with a years of experience with Mandrake/Red Hat/Debian back in the day.
The only real issues with vista was security issues which was mostly a non issue and needing admin for everything
Nowadays Windows just reboots the display subsystem with a graphics driver crashes. It can happen during games, and all that happens is that the display blinks for a second. It's an incredible bit of engineering.
That's only for user land stuff right?
I think you may be confusing "Refuse to use it" and "Have more important things to do with their time"
Most people just want a system that works without tinkering, and would rather do something other than read wiki's and learn CLI
Use Mac then I guess
It's almost like every OS has pros and cons, and the best choice for any user depends on their needs and wants
Imo no singular OS is a catch-all
Oh god, TempleOS lol
Given a QHD monitor and an RX470, what preset would peeps here suggest running FO3 on? And/or maybe specific shit that needs to get turned off? (just grabbed it finally where it was free on the Epic store) nvm, fixed the screen tearing I was getting just dropping down to 1 screen
TempleOS is objectively the most stable and user-friendly system. There is no reason to use anything else.
windows is templeOS but nobody realizes it
powershell is holyC but with a funky syntax
Don't touch that curse os
BSOD's are actually divine interventions from god
TempleOS is God's OS
I personally prefer Windows Me
I take pride in knowing I'm the reason Linus got subjected to TempleOS
oh you can't post images here lame
If you go to LTX I hope you plan on bringing a device running it
Go get floatplane, you get embed :)
I'll just use embed hacks to get av1 embeds thanks.

no i mean that powershell in windows literally does all the holyc stuff
you can just create classes and objects and run any code in the same terminal you use to browse files
if I typed something in custom status will ppl know that im using spotify?
it even exposes the registry as if it were a file system
I gave Anthony the idea via Floatplane
Gosh you're so cool
Yes and no. It'll continue to display your custom status message, but it'll show the Discord Rich Presence icon next to it, so if people open your profile, it'll then show what you're listening to on Spotify
i mean it doesnt show "Lestining to Spotify" , so ppl will know?
People will only know if they choose to look at your Discord profile directly
You could just disconnect spotify
usually ppl click on profile a lot ?
Not unless they're looking at your bio for something they can use to insult you with

I look at people's profiles to make sure they're not complete idiots before engaging
@marsh mortar Here's my question then: do you or do you not want people to know you're actively using Spotify?
yeah i want you to know that i’m listening to spotify
i want them to know my activity that i am using spotify
Then just don't use a custom status message, so it'll always show Listening to Spotify when you're using it
but i want to use custom status thats the problem
If you do use a custom status, the only indication that you're doing an activity of sorts is the Rich Presence icon, which looks like this:
Then too bad
What exactly is it that you want people to know: the fact that you're listening to Spotify, or the song you're listening to?
Because people always have to click on your profile to see what song you're listening to anyway
that fact that im listening to spotify
Then don't use a custom status message
I wish I could embed stuff but go to the connections tab of ur settings in discord and look where it says spotify
S n o w o n t h e b e a c h
My brother in Christ, the individual WANTS people to see they're listening to Spotify, not the other way around
Which is why he's complaining that a custom status overrides Rich Presence statuses
what
you don't have priviledges to send them in public.

Hello, does anyone here also watch NetworkChuck?
SponsorBlock extension server's are offline for matinence so nobody could submit the segments for the new LTT video
I was forced to listen to origin pc
yeah why
What about Mosh?
nop
i feel that way about most people in general
i just spam right arrow
sponsorblock seems nice but it's an overkill fix for a pretty trivial problem tbh
adblock + right arrow
Trying to decide between the i9 and i7 for these new 13th gen CPUs, I noticed the base clocks on the i7 was higher than the i9. Generally speaking is the i7 a better purchase for single core speed performance?
buy an i7 unless you have a specific use case for the i9
Half the time I'm not close enough to my PC and or phone and or I have something like wet hands.
It's also a set and forget. I personally don't feel bad doing it because I'm broke as fuck.
boo hoo?

It's quite pleasant not having to deal with that right arrow, especially when I have picture-in-picture on firefox and am doing something else entirely
I have no guilt for using it, cuz Premium user
how do you set those
i can't save mine after changing
do you need nitro 🗿
tried browser and desktop
of course you do
did you manage to do it somehow? and on what platform

because my profile is brown now
is the color grey?
but i can't change it away from brown
or is dark mode broken
nah it's dark grey on light mode
Does anyone play overwatch 2 often?
yes
adblock + sponsorblock is my setup lol
ayo is ltt gonna review the 13700k? anybody knows?

AMD ushered in the new generation of desktop CPUs with their Ryzen 7000 Series just last month, but Intel is clapping back in a major way with the Core i9-13900K and Core i5-13600K. Can T...
oh nvm you said the 13700
What are your PC specifications?
yea, seen this one but i'm surprised 13700 is not out yet
yeah
ill probs upgrade my pc to it tho
im getting a shit ton of crashes right now so hopefully if i just keep throwing money at the problem it will solve itself
Desktop: 1080ti / 12700K
Laptop: 2060 Max Q / R9 4900HS
Have you considered a 3060ti, 6700XT, 40 series cards for your desktop?
naw
$1,500 in pc upgrades just so i can stop crashing
RX 7000 series (RDNA3) is likely my next upgrade
If it works it works right
Ah, I plan to benchmark those cards when they are released on my YT channel
but realistically, I can still max out my monitor in OW2 at native res high/epic details, so i'm technically good for another year or so
A770 or 3060 ti
so i guess q3 2023 is probably when I'll look to upgrade
Never even heard of the A770 bud lol
If you ever need a performance review for those cards, feel free to follow my channel
explains why I've never heard of it lol
yeah since I don't really play DX12 or RT games; there hasn't been a ton of need for me to upgrade
Intel's marketing has been so poor for their GPU lineup
there’s reviews for it
13700K wasn't part of the initial review embargo
but not from ltt correct?
I don't think intel's after a huge user base this generration.
They're trying to work out issues now, and gen 2 will likely be significantly less buggy
(And honestly, LTTs tech reviews on chips and stuff are okay at best.)
hardwareunboxed has a video on it
GN, HWUnboxed and some others do much better actual tech hardware reviews
I watch GN for actual information.
I watch LTT And J2C cuz they're fun.
Oh, good to know thanks, i saw a few video titles like 13700k is the "better choice" hinting at 13900k so i thought ltt will jump on that in a similiar fashion
Time to watch those reviews then
The never-ending "Quest for More Subs" will invariably make a Tech Channel dumber.
The 900 series is (almost) NEVER a "smart" buy
The primary audience for the 12900KS / 13900K are idiots who want to brag about their hardware numbers on places like this.
We had a guy in here recently who swore up and down that he needed a "13900K and a 4090" so he could play "Microsoft Flight Sim"
If they already have the minimum requirement for monetization I agree. After that point its just a pursuit for vanity
Small channels it doesn't apply to, it's the bigger ones.
Like GN has 2.Something Million subs, but he's not actively shilling for more subs, because he knows that most people won't listen to him spend 30 minutes talking about detailed hardware specs.
LTT is doing something weird, and it may work out for them with Labs.
Because the main channel is the "income" channel, and "Labs" will be the detail oriented one, with many fewer subs.
or someone who makes enough money to where the cost is nothing to them
But they're not the ones on discord asking if it's the right buy
Well to be honest i was thinking of getting either the 7900 or 13900k before any was announced just for the fps boosts but after i saw the the temps i changed my mind
you can run the lower core count chips at a higher frequency and get the same fps
Also i only bought the 3080 so 13700k will probably be a better fit anyway
if you’re willing to wait until early 2023 the ryzen 7800x3d will hold the gaming crown but it won’t be cheap
For gaming? The difference between a 7800x and a 7900x is minimal.
most likely $450 for just 8 cores
for a pretty penny, it ought to be baller
i’m debating buying one when it comes out
7000$ 7800x3d
I'm not upgrading for a few years, as my 10850k is plenty fast for anything I'm doing still.
(I got it on a heavy discoutn from Microcenter, after 11th gen came out.)
Also, if you can wait a month or so, Ryzen 7000 is likely getting a price cut to be more competative with intel.
Definitely
I would but i'm kinda tired of waiting, and now cpus come out like every few months and each is a tiny bit better, i know x3d is gonna be nice but the who knows about the price + ddr5 + am5
If amd price cuts enough, I’ll consider going amd
Unless it goes down by 200€ i don't see it being a better buy
yo i want like a 30in TV or monitor that i can power with 12v car power, is that a thing?
What month do you recon 7...x3d will come out?
if you’re wanting to buy one right now the i5 13600k is fantastic
with a cheap b660 board and some ddr4
like $550 for a total platform with a 14 core cpu and 32gb of ram
TVs don't' take a ton of wattage, you should be able to run one off an inverter
but why do you want a 30" TV in a car?
i mean a tv might pull 120w which is 10a at 12v
I already picked something like 13700k + asus z790a d4 + 32gb + 3080 is that a good combo?
(But realistically TVs made for campers / RVs exist, but they're probably more expensive due to what they're made for.)
unless you're planning on a lot of overcvlocking, Z790 is a waste of money
i would suggest a 13600k + b660 + 3090 over that combo
or a 3080Ti
I already got a 3080 separately right when the msrp prices hit back a few months ago for a relatively good price so i didn't hesitate
It's the D4 so a little bit cheaper but maybe i'll go for the same but Z690
Are you overclocking?
No not really, at least up until now, i know Z is not the best pick unless OCing, but does it make sense to OC on a new 13700?
Opposite: Z690 is the only board that DOES allow overclocking.
So if you're not: Buy a cheaper chipset.
the rest is same? like power delivery, vrms, features etc?
it varies board to board.
But realistically the more expensive boards have features that almost nobody needs most of
It looks like asus maximus is like that f.e.
In my experience, most real world uses of 900 series since they launched, are profession cinema production. Whenever I see active film sets in my city, fairly often through spring/summer, i try to chat up the av guys to see what they're using for their field gear. It's usually threadrippers or 900s
its rare i've found someone who uses one just for flexing. But that's my own anecdotes on that subject
Would anyone have any android discord clients they’d recommend
the official discord beta
anything that isn't official is against discord's TOS iirc. Likely won't find any of that on play store.
android beta = all the bugs all the time
Frankly discords mobile client sucks ass
it does
It's far worse on Android. God I remember the initial switch to react native.
Zenfone 9 just arrived today so will work on moving to it from my iPhone 12 mini
I wish JS didn't exist because people keep putting it where it does not belong
react native can go get improved and less resource heavy plz
its gotten better since the initial switch, but its still buggy compared to the old android client
It’s fairly buggy on iPhone as well
if it wasnt' JS and react, it would be some other megalithic library that allows degree mill "computer scientists" jump into a company's project without causing major issue
But it just feels like there’s missing features
Or wasm.
Like favoriting gifs isn’t possible
i just want them to fix all the channels disappearing when i open the sidebar
or my cursor disappearing as i type
I have a lot of transparent images I share that end up not transparent after sharing. Though that could be the iPhone itself
sometimes the image selector is 5-wide and sometimes its 3-wide
on the same phone in portrait
wasm will get it's own mega libraries like react before it see's widespread use. Degree mills can't train people on webasm as well, since that requires actual 1on1 instruction for passable students. They prefer mega libraries that are easily tested towards with open book rules. Passing grades are marketable
Bout to revance this when I get home it’ll be nice
developers that are good at wasm won't be common
Wasm is a magnitude faster so Frankly I don't care
faster bugs are still bugs
I don't care if there are bugs it's it's so slow I can't fucking use it
rust development will likely be what takes the stage tbh
rust is nice but it ain't replacing things like c for a while if ever
tell that to linux 6.0 lol
rust compiled to wasm is where it will really shine. and drivers
Rust replaces nothing in 6+. It's only a rewrite of existing c libs.
You're going to see an acceleration of replacement as the foundations are cured out
rust is a c++ replacment not c.
let's way for that, before jumping on it
40oz bottle worth it? I feel like based on dinensions its "just" too big to be comfy in like cup holders etc/unwieldy. Im deciding between the 40 and 21.
do you drink 2L of water everyday?
I have a roughly 24oz cup i refil throughout the day
40 will take you like 2 day, give to take
so,maybe, you know it's like 2kg everywhere with you vs 1kg
dang i drink way more than that
i can easily drink 1-2 gallons if i have access to bottled water
isn't that like 16L?
4.5-9 L
I have both the 40 and 21oz, and I use the 40oz way more often
poor kidneys
eh theyll be ight
i usually have a bottle of water when i first wake up, one when i get to work, one while im working before lunch, one during lunch, and i sip one or two after lunch before i go home
not including any i have after i get home
each bottle is 0.5L
I barely drink at all, just have wet food with every meal
huh? it is
The review for 13700, from LTT
ohh ya I don't get why no one does reviews of it
I guess it is the middle child lmao
The few titles i saw were praising it so double surprised there 😄
yea, i7 isn't really popular
I own a i7
depends what resolution and frame rate you’re trying to get
240hz 1440p
Depends on what resolution and settings. If you are going 4k then even a 13600 is fine
are you sure you want to play at 1080p with 4090?
nah it wont?
yeah you’ll be cpu bottlenecked in some games but there’s no better cpu options just yet so it is what it is
most games you’ll be able to hit 240 though
all*
i dont really wanna go all out on the cpu nd buy a 13900
all AAA games or indi games?
wrong
sorry, all of the ones I play
don't worry, cs will hit 240fps
if you already knew you’d be fine with the games you play then why ask
purchase validation?
i play at 1440p240hz as well and i’m waiting for the 7800x3d
so, what's games?
I just wonder how bad the bottleneck is
OT 14th chips will get a new socket?
idk some competitive stuff not really the main reason im buying this pc though
it’s rumored that there will be several models with extra cache so maybe
yes
yeah new socket, they’re moving from 10nm (equivalent to tsmc 7nm) to tsmc equivalent 5nm+
you know, most e-sport games works on igpu with 100+ fps?
with 14th gen
15th gen is supposed to be equivalent to 3nm and uses the same socket as 14th
14 is second half of 2023
not really the main reason im buying this pc though
huge l3 is nice but i would like to see bigger l2 and l1.
Love lake Quadra should be in a month
wait, is it Love lake or Lovelake?
oh, it's Lovelace
a month?
if Nvidia will do it like with Ampere
I want to see someone make a game of life clone that uses as much resources as possible. Trying to be as unoptimized as possible
Will only run on 4090 unoptimized
so, how much that game would sell if people hate Star citizens model?
But make everything it does actually important. Not useless functions
id rather see someone make a game that’s well optimized but hard to run
int main() {
for (;;) {
malloc(99999);
}
return 0;
}
so factorio/doom?
you can short it
its c i could make it one line if i damn well pleased.
haha
At work we get PRs declined if we oneline anything
how many threads factory use?
I mean yeah not everything needs to be one line but sometimes its better.
if it works, it's works
factorio used to be like 2-4 threads but it might be diffrent now
In prod environments, makes error reporting 10x more opaque
Our company's custom linter also has some rudimentary oneline checks to stop it from even committing to the branch
still limited to 4
Open the same 100GB file to memory on X number of threads
they could probably make it use more but it for sure would increase source complexity, require a rework, and hurt performance per instruction.
Scaling over servers is much more efficent lol
oh,right, 7000 is way faster in factorio
bigger cache and better clocks helps it a lot yes
game still limited to 4 cores
altho the average person wont get to the megabase sizes required to start droping ups
I guess, game doesn't know what's e-core
Its complicated
Okay then, for those that have 40oz bottle. Do you have any issues fitting it places? Like backpack pouch, cup holders etc? And is it too big to carry around?
it's way worse than complicated
wdym?
Hybrid design can make way too much problems to table and need consistent work
for the schedule and kernel devs yeah but you dont need to design your software around it at all as a developer
either your application threads or it does not.
You could do meta optimizations like avoding context switching and the like i guess but there are more important opts you could make first
kek
So I noticed the 13th gen i9 boosts to 5.8 while the i7 boosts to 5.4 ghz, but the base clocks are higher with the i7. For workloads that prioritize base clock speeds the i7 is the better bet or the i9 with the boost that it can reach?
i9 use better silicon
For workloads that prioritize base clock speeds
What does this mean. base clock is a arbitrary number that your cpu is guarenteed to run at.
where the core speeds is more important than core counts.
particularly with CAD and things of that nature
hope that load not cache depended
not the rendering side of things
your cpu is almost never going to be running at base clock while you are running something like cad
Its irrelevant
thats why i was wondering if the boost in the i9 would make it the ideal choice
isn't 7000 boosted pretty high even with cad?
im essentially just stuck between the i9 vs the i7.
might just say whatever and go all in with the i9, only 200 bucks more
you can limit current a bit and still get pretty damn good performance. Most mobos just redline them stock
ill be doing a custom loop
oh, cooling not a problem
i havent done a proper build since skylake, i figure 13th gen is the ideal time to upgrade.
yea, go with i9
gonna go all out on everything.
if this is a new build.... i wouldnt go intel
its a dead platform
is 13 gen endlessly boosts?
but i am juggling the idea of doing a micro ATX or mini ITX build.
which is going to be tough to stuff a custom loop into a case like that.
but i kinda like the challenge.
7950x under custom loop should be faster than13900
i'm contemplating building a 13700k Z690/Z790 + 3080 now or waiting for new socket but new stuff will keep coming out anyway and 4k 144hz is gonna take a while to go mainstream to go all out on the build
oc board?
bad choice?
pointless choice for 4k
but if you want put pc together and forget, it's just best choice
nah i have 2k 144hz so that's what i'm aiming for, for 4k 144hz i'd need to go for 3090 or 4090 no?
3080/6900xt at minimum for 4k 144 in brand new not-esport games
i say this as someone who used a 6900xt for 4k before i went back to 1440p
it all depends on what you play though
i'm not gonna upgrade regularly, i usually do a whole new setup that's why im thinking of going 13700k + z690 + ddr4 route since i already have a 3080 (i got one once they restocked at msrp for a while) and next upgrade is gonna be a new socket anyway = new build
3080 to 3090 not big jump
i got 2x 2k 144hz monitors some time ago since 4k 144hz was non existent basically and now it's still expensive
wait for AMD released and guess if there will be 4090 ti
if i have 3080 bought, what would you build around it?
13600k+b660+ddr4
13gen best for buck, 5800x3d best for last gen
I've got a 3060 Ti and I'm running 2k on games. Works fine. Paired with a 5600x
7000 for support until 2026
i dont even wanna go 4090 route cause it's too expensive, i feel like i won't play 4k 144hz new games so feels like a waste
1080p is closer to "2k" then 1440p
I've had that debate with aldonist
don't upgrade now then
Still don't know what the difference really is
singleplayer, some fps, nothing crazy fps bound like cs go or such
3080 can handle that at 4k
I'm building a new PC, not upgrading.. actually i have intel 2500k now 🙂 so need to build a new pc to be able to play anything
13 gen for best for$, 7000 for support until 2026
so if i stick with 3080 for a few years, its enough to go with 13700k and b660 and ddr4?
yes
i don't think i'll update sooner than 4 years anyway so intel is fine and then i can go ryzen 10000 or intel 20000 😄
that will be ddr6 platform anyway
yea, that's crazy
AMD is good now, not like it was in 2500k era
2k 144hz even?
yea of course, the 7000 was my first choice before 13th gen reviews and prices, i was almost sure i will go amd
7000 isn't bad, let's say it like that
and 3d refresh already on horizen if you want to just have plug and play
Windows Dev Kit 2023 looks cool.
32 GB RAM, strong CPU, Win 11 pro included... for $600. Only thing it's missing is 5G.
and -100w too
that like 6 hours old news
and you forgot - it's arm
You mean the undisputed future of computing?
Talk about future proofing

My monitor is actually 165hz
RISC-V still there
ARM for the win
and there are sights that Intel and AMD will jump to it
Windows 11 from my phone when
Screw Samsung DeX let's put a hypervisor on the premium flagships like my S22 Ultra and have full Windows 11 when you dock
Samsung will be so sad
Would be extra nice if you had the option to let it run in the bg on the go, sure battery life will suffer but your work on the PC OS can keep churning
can someone help me with BSoD?
good old 2009
we have a #1027757333117415424
Thanks but no one seems to be able to help there. Thank u though
Dumb question but did you google the error code?
Did you try LTT Forums?
Yeah
Yep
Discord server just for the type of thing you're doing
Sometimes i can game for hours and sometimes the PC crashes on Boot
And what's the code?
Idk what BSoD is but like, right now I'm setting up a home PBX. I would not ask for help here. I joined a PBX server.
PFN_LIST_CORRUPT
This is the code
this isnt #1027757333117415424
Tech support says we can't have discusssion there?
Yeah, no i Formatted Both SSD and HDD
Are you on the latest windows updates?
Maybe you are getting an error because of something else and it just doesn't have a message for the real error
Yep
It's also possible you pissed off a tech nerd spirit and it's haunting you now
It started happening since I upgraded from 1650 to 3060
Not helping here🥹
I spent my first ever Paycheck for that GPU only to meet this

Thanks to ORIGIN PC for sponsoring this video! Check out their new EVO 15-S system at: https://bit.ly/LTT_EVO15S
The team at LMG are a diverse bunch with a wide-ranging skillset - and they often use those skills to cast a critical eye on the choices Linus makes with his setups. Today though, we play the uno reverse card: it’s time for Linus and...
Yes I watched this🤣I loved how there worst setups are better than my best🥹
They better not see any of mine then
Memtest gave errors in Test 13...what is that
Idk but did you try swaping rams?
i think with all the monitors in the video combined they have as many as you
Maybe. But that's my main PC, I have other set ups around the house.
Don't have more than 2
soon sugar will have this setup
Well one of them may be faulty, so try with 1 and run memtest, how often do you get the bsod?
1-2 times a day
rx 580
How much 5500 right now?
140 ish
Still terrible deal
rx 590 are also around 140
The roasting employee set ups video is the perfect case of “don’t meet your heroes” at least for me
One of the previous roast videos had Linus going off on how awful it was that a setup had a single visible umbilical cord coming off it. The setup in question was a standing desk. Our heroes are definitely not perfect. 😆
So has anyone bought the backpack?
A few thousand people have
what backpack?
Can someone tell me if it's worth it? Would they except suggestions?
lies, fake news,defamation
Does anyone knows how to fix fortnite crashing after 20 minuets every time I've reinstalled windows updated my drivers and uninstalled and reinstalled it any one know how to fix it?
if you dont play the bad game it will never crash
lol but seriously anyone know how to fix it
idk this isnt #1027757333117415424
spent a full evening trying to work out why my WS2812B addressable RGB LEDs... dont do anything other than display green, all the time... never thought to think that the seller on aliexpress sent me the wrong thing... yes still rgb LEDs, but not addressable... they have individual R, G and B pins, with no muxing... and about 10% of the price.... fuckers...
just dont buy rgb and not have that problem ez
its not PC rgb... its through hole LEDs for soldering to a PCB
i can recomend this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PNL5STG?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
worked really great
best part is the paw is the charge level indicator
That alone is worth it
In this video I talk about the time unknown to most people when cell phones had TV tuners built into them to watch free local TV channels without using data. They were around between 2008-2014. How come these phones never took off?

Which one?
@spice haven can I buy your 1650 super?
what?
but ya i thought i got myself a good deal now that the gpu market has cooled down
Buildin' 1000 dollar pc

and infra-red on some models too, as in proper remote usage from an old phone!
Guys
Be very careful installing msi afterburner for gpus
i almost just installed a fraud one oml
Gave me a heart attack when i realized i had just seen a tiktok warning me abt that
only get it from the official MSI site. anywhere else and ...yeah might be asking for it
should bundle with RivaTuna if it's official
Only on YouTube... Can you watch a Florida man fuel a car using a bucket of brake.clean... and run it on a Dyno.
Sounds like some "life hack" on Tiktok as well

Anyone good at arguing warranty with logitech?
mouse's scroll wheel has gone fucky... Issue is - they're saying I'll have to wait for the mid-grey replacement (I paid more to not have the black on black plain version). All they have "stock" of - is the black on black. Yet they're still listing the other colors for sale new in their own amazon web store...
? Kinda the principle argument; paid more to not have the melted black plastic look. Now you're saying if I want it replaced I have to take the cheap version...
first world problems
yep - no argument but why charge for non-black if you're not going to send only black as replacements?
Frick i'd just be happy if they sent a new scroll wheel
me holding the urge not to send the 13gb 4k morbius fit inside a discord embed
this is the same server where an informaous dude said adblockers are piracy, literally 1984 😔
...hmm, grey area...
no the grey areas are those 50mb discord movies
I mean it's better than putting the entire Shrek movie on bootup of the SteamDeck
Na, your name looks pretty damn good even at 50MB. Unless you use a hardware encoder
oh yeah someone should redo 8MB shrek, its almost watchable now
just use dlss
why when upscaling is built into the av1 spec?
nerd
It's useless anyways, less then a 1% efficiency gain.
So out of curiosity, why is there no 16 pin connectors?
Like we went from 6 to 8, why not a 16 pin connector?
So you can 16 pin + 8 , or 1 x 16 pin.
(Coming out of 2x8 from the psu, clearly)
Im watching j2c video right now, and was wondering about that shitty pin
Ive posted buildzoids comentary on it already and people talked about it in other channels.
there is no real way to fix it without a new card revision.
For the record, didn't say "go F-word", i said "F-word nvidia".
so it is true ? holy
They are saying the weight of the horizontal mount weight
(remember, cable THEY supplied....) put some strain on the connector and forced less contact between pins.
Nvidia is just sweeping power draw issues under the rug it seems.
According to them we are "using it wrong".
because you can just have 2 8 pins beside each other. there is no point in making a dedicated plug for it as it limits your options for power pins.
Fair
Nvidia is fk'd xD
This was already a issue with rtx 3k.
it just wasnt this bad.
and whoever approved that connector style = doom.
I have a very silly question
Why did they made the 12 pin cable SO SHORT
Why not manufacture something that hooks to the card, but goes all the way to the power supply, THEN splits?
Probably inspired by Apple
I don't think they really want to save some cents on the copper....
Aesthetics. it serves no pratical use.
What i mean is
You have 4 8 pin connectors that are HEAVY, putting strain on the connector on the card.
Refrain to #tech-chat-1
well you dont need all 4
why tech > ? still related to PC
Posted a pic, sorry 😛
Do yall think amd is going to drop their prices on their cpus in response to kind of getting crushed by intel this gen?
would be nice to see a $180 r5 7600x
It's the boards that need a price cut, not the cpus
cpus are way expenisve
the $309 i5 13600k beats the $399 r7 7700x
and it kills the $299 r5 7600x for just $9 more
Cinebench can flex the extra e cores on the 13600k. dont expect it to scale to all apps.
the 13600k is a 14 core cpu
Doesn't it chew like 120w more?
in between the 7700X and 7900X
if intel replaced the 6 p cores in the 13600k with another what 12 e cores it would be a monster of a compute cpu.
which they could with Gen 14
they could do it this generation
e cores are more efficent ratio of die space to compute and they do have the IPC advantage rn iirc. they could easily make up the clock difference
I mean, its valid
POV ur compiling gentoo on a 20 e core intel cpu you bought for 250 usd
But if I ask you: Back then, knowing how the platform (am4) behaved. Would you have bought a 9700k, or a 2700x with a b450 motherboard?
the 9700k because a large chunk of b450 mobo either didnt get the micro code update or just died
you can not have zen 1-3 support on the same mobo either, only zen1/2 or zen2/3 at the same time
x470
Oh sorry, alright.
In some sick way, motherboard manufacturers are right in charging premium
You probably won't change motherboards till the end of the line.
We're getting... 3 generations on am5 right? 7x00, 8x00, 9x00.
amd would have to offer am4 level of cpu support and a huge discount on ryzen 7000 for me to even think about buying into it over 13th gen
That's if you already own the platform. 13th gen is on a dead platform.
im still happy with my 5600x
I3-12100f or ryzen 5 5600x
why not a i5 12400f?
Sure, that is fine as well
Probably cant find a setup with avx-512 now which is sad.
from what I heard Intel's AVX 512 implementation sucked anyway
AVX512 is impractical on modern CPUs in the first place.
Iirc AMD does not have a "real" implementation. They instead run it in two clock cycles. You still get a speed up tho because of the instructions added in avx512.
can someone help me with my powerA XBOX controller not being reconized on my pc
For example, 512 adds support for bfloat16 which is not only one of the few cases of x86 supporting float16 but speeds up ML significantly
we charge $25 per hour for #1027757333117415424 related questions inside #public-chat

So I've determined that at the next LTT LAN party? They need to hands-down have everyone turn their mousepads vertically just to piss off Linus.
ur funyy
(I can only imagine the meltdown when someone turns a LTT Deskpad vertically for the memes at the LAN and he sees it)
do you want to get kicked out ? 😛
I make LUKE look short, nevermind the little guy!
but your tall and skinny right?
I haven't been skinny in nearly 20 years
I'm a bit over 2M Tall (6'7") and a good bit past 300lbs
Will lttstore ever make things like fans in the future?
Linus would be, like, the size of my right leg or something
I doubt it. It's not a market worth the fight, when they can just partner with /good/ existing brands they like working with.
Thanks for the answer, I would assume it's hard to compete with established brands and the cheap Chinese ones
At high-end, people will pay for Lian Li and Noctua.
At the bargain end, a 5 pack of Arctic P120's are fucking amazing for 25$ (per 5 pack)
Any recommendations for budget rgb fans? I found some that are $50 for a 6 pack by a company called "EZDIY" but I'm not sure if they're that reliable.
budget and rgb dont go together
They're better than you'd expect for the pricetag, but they're not "ARGB" they use a custom controller and a remote.
The ones I found are aurasync compatible with my motherboard
Arctic P12 ARGB are not that expensive, and are pretty good.
But... yeah, RGB Fans for controlled fans are pricey.
link?
that's a new set, I haven't seen, so IDK
https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-P12-PWM-RGB-Pack/dp/B08Y8N5J89
These are the arctic RGB fans, they're solid, and very reasonably priced for most RGB fans.
I might buy those, not sure yet
check on YT for the EZDIY fans, they may have been reviewed
Alright 👍
seems pretty small
Where is that? I'm curious
Itx + 4090
ew ryzen 7000
so it's going in an MATX case? lolol
That'd be an matx case, bruh
It's going in a case that can have ITX on the very top

that's ATX? jesus shit that card's insane
why are they upsdiedown
It's also the smallest 4090 we carry

We get the color orange for free😲 🤯 🔥 💯 WE UP! ☝️
technically not incorrect, but rgb LED's fail to truly capture that spectrum fully
quite loud
huh? Arctic fans are quiet
i have the non rgb version
Noctua+Phanteks Halo's
its quite loud
then you either don't have PWM, or you have them configured wrong
they are the pwm ones but I probably dont have them configured right
I have 5 of them sitting at elbow''s distance from my chair, and I can barely hear them
speaking of my 6600's fans keep going berserk
Are they plugged into your mobo's fan headers, or into SATA adapters?
nocuta mod them
not yet
I'd say Arctic Mod, but same difference 😉
that's blasphemy in my sleeper

Apparently Raijintek is releasing a new Morpheus, which will be compatible with current-gen GPUs

I seriously have no idea guys pls help
gpu is not strong enough
Oh do I need 4090
yup
cool, keep trolling.
i'd wait for the 5090. its faster than the 4090.
Oh ok so pair the rtx 5090 with celeron g5920?

ye. come back in 2024 when ur ready to buy
With the gigabyte 750w v1 right the one that has explosive performance
well if it explodes get the PC insured
Wait for 2026 and 5090 will be cheap 🤯
true. but in 2027 the 6070 will release by then and be cheaper than a 5090
ok but let's talk about the future, 2028 is going to be the year
im not interested in the 7090. 16K gaming is a bit meh
we will be alive in 2027?
should come with its own PSU
damn I certainly hope so.
well im getting close
its An Inteleon Spy hired by intel to nuke AMD.
Can't wait for the rtx 69420 super omega giga ti
ill be dead by then
hey I don't really want to drum this up again but doesn't lightning put mechanical strain on the device rather than the cable?
who cares? they suck regardless of what they do
I don't really care enough as long as they ditch it
they should have once USB C rolled around.
the money that MFi brings in is insane though
60b notably is what I believe would be the problem...
they said it stops innovation, yeah bullshit. what stops innovation is no competition. like what Nvidia is doing.
Lightning isn't even worth talking about, it's USB 2
honestly I prefer that usb c cables break this way
never had a type c break on me
it's meant to break still
it has a finite life so that it doesn't break the port just the cable
meanwhile the lightning cable if you never put strain on anything other than the connector the phone would break first
Yeah.. So are like 70% of other cable types
Just how it is, durability doesn't excuse shitty overall performance at extraordinarily high cost
