I've had good experiences with KVM (Kernel Virtual Machine) which is the Linux equivalent to Hyper-V and is widely used for virtualisation. A distribution specifically tailored towards virtualisation is Proxmox (https://proxmox.com/en/). I personally haven't used Proxmox but a Ubuntu based system which was due to the requirement that I wanted to use the host OS as a main system and virtualise specialised systems when needed.
