Well, to disable any sort of hardware, you would have to disable USB port the mouse is occupying. Unless you can find a 3rd party software designed for the mouse to enable or disable functionality.

esp given it's a closed box, aby moisture in there is problematic

oh and minerals and other crap like that can be left behind after the water evaporates causing more issues

also alcohol smell is a good indicator of if water is evaporated yet using a hair dryer or heat gun
