Really excited for the upcoming regiments dlc, it looks like it'll be a lot of fun
Yeah, it´s a big package with lots of new nations, vehicles and a new campaign (IIRC). Regiments is really top-notch so my hopes about the DLC are high, as well.
half life 2!
Smile for the camera
GHPC?
Yes, finally picked it up during the last sale. Really good, but pretty unforgiving.
snagged CM:BS, I'm quite enjoying it so far
Nice, you can't get a more hardcore game on tactical combat than CM. I bought it years ago and found it pretty good, if challenging, especially in real time mode. You're playing turn based?
Yeah, there's not enough wego games out there, I'll always play wego if I can
sketch
and in a shocking turn of events, it turns out strikers don't fare well when ambushed by an mbt
it's honestly kinda refreshing (if frustrating) to have everything go swimmingly, then the moment I think I've got a handle on things all my 'armor' gets schwacked by t-90s within seconds of each other
WARNO has recently received its first small campaign with the latest GROUCHY update and I gave it a look on Youtube. The Bruderkrieg campaign seems to be quite well made, has anyone here tried it yet? And is WARNO generally a good purchase? I've played various EUGEN games before so their concept isn't too new to me.
I've not played the new campaign but I've got warno, it's alright but as someone who was hoping for wargame 4 it was pretty disappointing, it's really more steel division three
Recently I quite enjoyed SD2. In what ways did you dislike WARNO? From what I've seen on the 'Tube it involves quite a lot of micro-management, especially compared to Regiments.
it's micro heavy (similarly with other EUGEN stuff) but I suppose my biggest gripe is the system of divisions that's lifted wholesale from steel division. I always really enjoyed deck building in the Wargame series divisions make deckgame far more limited.
I can't wait for that dlc
The more we see of it the better it looks. Will likely be a Day 1 purchase. I recently also came across this one: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286220/Sea_Power__Naval_Combat_in_the_Missile_Age/
Looks fantastic, too and very well made, as well.

Coming soon
yeah I'm really hoping it'll be a worthy successor to cold waters
Tbh, never played that title. My knowledge of naval warfare is also very limited, but what the devs of Sea Power showed off so far looks really interesting. There are also some wargames set in WW2 Pacific in development that look pretty interesting.

Hi everyone, welcome to another Sea Power Dev Update. The biggest developments over the last weeks have got to go to our terrain team. Ian, Martin, Mek, and Nils have completed fantastic work on the terrain shaders, along with other systems. These improvements mean that you should see excellent lighting effects from cities, those lighting effect...
It was a really fun cold war subsim, I've heard the devs world war 2 game is pretty decent as well though I've not played it

I really hope it's just as good as Cold Waters when it comes to submarine warfare
If not better
I want to be able to drop decoys and form knuckles and sneak around below the thermocline

Brought my friend "Holly" along to help commentate on submarine gameplay in Sea Power. The scenario places a US Los-Angeles class submarine up against a Soviet Alfa Class submarine...
It looks like it's a bit more abstracted and you've got less granular controls than cold waters
yeah, I saw that - I'm still happy with it
I don't feel like I need keyboard control over the sub to enjoy it
I'll sort of miss the old "which sonar picture does this line up with" minigame
but I guess it makes sense that it's something your sonarman would take care of, it'd not be the captain's responsibility
at the very least, it looks like the level of systems depth is still there, plus they have towed sonars by default now, and they seem to have brought in the guy from DotMod and some of their ideas, which is very promising
I think for subs I'll probably stick to cold waters, I like the granular control. I do like that they're adding more than just the us and soviet subs though, another video showed 205s and 206s in the armory
I'm hoping that they'll include enough stuff to do the Falklands
Sea Power is soon coming so here is the full unit list to get you thinking on what scenarios you may want to make in the mission editor. This video acts as a reference so feel free to hop around. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286220/Sea_Power__Naval_Combat_in_the_Missile_Age/

^The most terrifying aspect of naval combat.
There are so many videos out for the game, from all sorts of creators, it´s crazy. Thank God I´m in Japan in October, early November, otherwise the suspense would kill me. Unbelievable, that the game takes another ~ 1 1/2 months until release, it looks so good.
I'd probably pay for what seems to be there now, honestly
From chatting to Enigma, it seems that the misison editor is already in
Yeah same
From what I see in the videos it looks like a lot of the quality of life stuff is what's remaining, some bug squashing, unit descriptions, tutorials(?) Etc...
But what's there so far looks really good
I really hope we get a falklands dlc though
It does indeed look very advanced for an early release, even appears to be in a state where other games would´ve been released already. From binging a few videos it could indeed do with some QOL stuff, like less fiddly controls, though. Will be interesting too see the amount of last minute polish the devs will add.
The modding and scenario builders scene will hopefully be thriving, the game looks like THE perfect sandbox platform for that. I´m personally totally in the market for a modern-day South China Sea setting.
Agreed. Plenty of interesting scenarios I can think of would fit this game very well. As I said before, the Falklands conflict would work very well, as well as the various Arab-Israeli wars, maybe a fictional Kuril Islands dispute as well.
I really hope they do something to simulate the lifespan of these ships, they've got the permit class for example but do they have a mk37 and hull sonar only version for the 60s? Stuff like that
Oh yeah, different versions of ships would be cool. I'm not sure that's something the devs are implementing right now but might be done by the modding community.

Wolfpack made a really good video some days ago, showing off a mission he created in the editor. Feels very Tom-Clancy-esque and cinematic at times. 😄
I'm happy that they matched the correct squadrons to the carriers, presumably by date
Yeah, it looks really cool

Glad to see the sonar modeling is fairly in depth
Yeah Enigma's been learning sonar stuff for a little while now, glad to see it paying off
I'm hoping that there are whales and fish like in cold waters, to give you false positives
Yeah same
Wolfpack also uploaded a new video about another mission he created in the editor, this time from the Soviet POV: https://youtu.be/xexAKqX4-yw?si=3B_w_13RNejy-ne3
His tactics are quite good, can´t wait what else we´ll get to see.

As preparation.. 😄
I like it a fair bit! It's definitely an early access game, it's got a fair few missing QOL features to contend with, but so far I've been lucky enough to avoid any major bugs. I think it's a solid foundation for what they seem to be working toward according to their roadmap.
That's my impression, too. When it works, it's great. The action is tense and gripping. It's a joy seeing all those units moving and fighting. I just find some of the missions a bit borked, some have weird pacing and sometimes the AI is acting weird.
What game is that?

Interesting

I don't actually have hoi4, was just asking for hoi4-ish games
War is war.
Played the first mission of the Pacific Strike ´85 pack and that was really quite good. Interesting objective, good forces set up and good pacing. I love how the community is cranking out those missions so fast.
Last update for GHPC dropped the first Bundeswehr content. That Leopard 1 is awesome.
