#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)
1 messages Β· Page 56 of 1
I've had it go to like 5 miles of drift in a 727 going from Seattle to Ottawa
Well, almost a full transcon
Had a huge brain fart moment where I thought "aren't they both really close" and then realized... At least I didn't write it
Going to:
Europe
Maybe Germany
Potentially West Germany
Hopefully Dusseldorf
Actually sounds fun hahah
Hopefully the plane doesn't misbehave, feel free to blame me if it does of course
Tracking 020
Korean 007 moment
Well at least I'm not flying anywhere near the USSR
Then that's totally fine
Although tbf KAL managed to get a Paris - Anchorage flight break the Soviet airspace lol
They genuinely just flew in heading mode
Yep
Flying Paris - Anchorage - Seoul
Yeah I've heard of it
And due to it overflying essentially exactly the magnetic north pole, the INS just said "aight I'm outta here"
The plane made an almost U-turn
Breached the Soviet airspace over Kola penninsula
Ooof
Got shot down and made an emergency landing
I think they landed it on a frozen lake
It's a big rule of mine that when this stuff happens I never judge the real pilots from my armchair pretend to fly pixel plane position
But man
How can can you see your heading being like 130 after a long right turn, and think "that's fine"
"The crew of Flight 902 blamed the compass, which had started working incorrectly, due to the flight path of KAL 902 flying close to the magnetic north pole"
Interesting
I think those were just different times
I don't remember if I ever posted it here, I think I did
But on the DAL 1011 manual there's a whole page that's like "extremely basic cross checks to make sure you always kind of know when you are even if you're using an INS for dummies"
Right...
The USSR AF obviously says they tried to contact the airliner several times, yet got no response
The crew obviously says they tried to contact the interceptors, but got no response
And you really can't know who to believe
Obviously the USSR would try to shift the blame onto the crew, if there is any blame
But yeah, at the same time that doesn't seem the most alert and observant crew π
And the crew clearly messed up in some way or another, cause not noticing that your plane is going in a direction not even remotely close to the intended ones is weird
Yeah what an extremely weird incident all around
I've seen some mentions a while ago (again, choose for yourselves whether to believe it or not, cause as always there's 0 proof that it did happen, and just as 0 proof that it didn't) that after the plane was disassembled, the USSR found what they described as "surveillance equipment" onboard, stuff not usually present in 707s
Yeah
But I guess at the same time this wouldn't even be the US' wackiest idea during the cold war
So who knows π€·ββοΈ
But at the same time, who's to say the US wouldn't resort to using another country's civillian planes to do their thing
Yeah exactly...
The fact that the Soviets didn't release the black boxes certainly leads you to believe they'd found something "wrong" with their reaction, I'm sure that if they clearly showed the crew was all to blame they'd release them?
And obviously it being a civil airliner just makes it easier to say it was a simple navigational mistake, not an intentional test of the air defence
Maybe... or it could be the reverse. If you push that it was an intentional breach, meanwhile the recorders show that it genuinely was a mistake, you wouldn't want them release
Or
It could also just be the USSR being the USSR
They pretty much never released flight recordings etc
Yeah that too
In fact most of the time they would do their best to make sure any accident gets 0 publicity, and nobody actually knows that there was a plane down
True
Cause well, in a case like this, Korean authorities would 100% be involved
And most likely American too
Yep
Am I right in thinking South Korea and the US were very close during that time? Probably more than they are now
Although I wouldn't say any involvement of the US authorities would even be weird or suspicious. It's entirely normal that Boeing would like to know why the hell a 707 would do something like that
Well, the Republic of Korea and the US have always been close, but I reckon back then even closer than now, considering that the Korean penninsula was one of the conflict points
Yeah that's what I was thinking too
Guessing the memory of the wars in South East Asia were a lot more prominent back then
In fact tbf, I think it would be more suspicious if the FAA/NTSB/Boeing weren't involved
Without needing a tin foil hat
If the US wanted to spy/test the USSR defences, this was probably one of the better ways to do it
I mean, definitely
That was 1978
So it's just 3 years off the end of the US' tour in Vietnam
Although I do think it's not very probable. But definitely it's not a crazy conspiracy I don't think
Unless there are some facts I'm not aware of
Yeah. Basically, is it a conspiracy theory? Yes. Is there any way to prove or disprove it? No. Is it one of the more probable & realistic theories out there? Well, it's definitely more probable than earth being flat
The main thing that imo is weird about it, is how the crew didn't notice the turn
Like, in the case of KAL 007, the plane was following roughly the route it needed, and it didn't make any unexpected/sudden movements
In this case, it would've been a lengthy right turn, and knowing the autopilots & nav equipment of that age, it would've been a rather abrupt one too
So hardly something you can just disregard
But at the same time, there are many reason why the crew could've disregarded it
Fatigue, wrong compass indications, simple confusion...
Yeah
Like, I'd say if you're not fully paying attention, I could see how you could miss it
And at that stage of the flight, I doubt the pilots were at the top of their alertness
With a non-functioning compass, the only way to really understand how much you turn is by calculating it from the speed, bank and turn duration
Which the crew wouldn't be doing for sure
So for all they knew, the autopilot could've just been correcting course after being slightly off for whichever reason
Also great success, MSFS just creashed...
Luckily this conversation actually prevented me from doing any work so I was still on the ground
I am stupid
I only now noticed that my plan starts in Long Beach instead of Palmdale...
Too used to delivering MDs lol
And I have stab trim out of range...
Perfect
Will have to pull up a fair bit more I guess
Cool
So
On the ground I forgot to switch the INS from alignment mode to nav mode
So now it kinda gave up
Looks like I fixed it
3am is fun
The 1011 AT can only be referenced with IAS, right? Can't set a mach number for it to follow?
NBT23 | Airborne out of Oslo, Norway and bound for Miami.
On the cruise FL380 over the waters.
Thunderheads up and down the Easter Seaboard. Many had Tops up to FL480.
On final "Zero Niner" / Miami.
On Blocks, Gate E30 to complete the ten hour journey.
yes
only way to get mach displayed is by using TM mode but that follows the PMS and cant be adjusted in flight
Yay, 7-something hours later I'm still in the air
Me when better pushback
Huh, I wonder if anything's wrong...
I think it's been like that for a while and I just didn't notice
Tbf I was empty & light, so it felt absolutely fine on just 2 engines
I did an in-flight restart afterwards, and transferred all the fuel from the centre tanks into the wing tanks too
Ngl, the 1011 fuel system is kinda fun
do u alawys just get called in on home standby
ltus livery so good
I've always found that going towards the middle east feels, idk, longer than it should
I guess it's just perception, generally you think the countries here aren't that big, so once you're away from Europe you just think "Hey, just Turkey and Iraq left, then a bit over the gulf and I'm landing in Dubai". Then... 4 hours
Btw
How hard is it to do a simple repaint for XP
I just want to change the colour of the TSO 744 engines
They should be blue, but the paint doesn't fully work so for me they are white
not too hard
depends if u do it with blender or paint/gimp
for engines most likely gimp
unless u know how blender works
i used to make liveries in gimp
it worked well for simple stuff
Ugh
Cross feed valves open?
The vertical ones
They weren't, I fixed it later lol
Oh right hahah
Yeah atm because we are undercrewed massively
send the application, im omw
lol
is it hard to become cc actually
6 pages of bases
Like u need to k ow your shit and be ready to get paid fuck all
is it a fun job though?
Very
No
In Germany itβs about 23-26k eur per year after tax
WTF ONLY?
nevermind
Itβs nothing
My friend is a truck driver and earns more...
That's very sad to hear
lufthansa pays equally as trash
atleast for lufthansa city
i dont wanna sound like this guy but idk if i could do short haul FA
i'd much prefer flying long haul
And spending so much time flying does have some real health implications
I don't think I could deal being a F/A instead of a pilot. I'd personally feel like being a failure TO ME
I'd just have to work in a completely different industry
Obviously not saying F/A are "worse", or that I don't respect them
It's just looking at that from my life's (and choices) perspective
And yeah, I know it's a "toxic" way to look at it
It's how my brain works unfortunately, and I'm aware it has probably caused me some big issues from a "career" PoV π
any job in aviation is a job i'd like to do
becoming a pilots' expensive and if i have some history w the airline they might pay bit of it ontop
aerologics' offering ATPL academy with direct entry on the T7 for a whopping 115kEUR
which seems decent
A friend of mine went to Spain and paid just shy of 80k
Integrated ATPL
Before next year, I'll have to figure out if it's possible/responsible getting this amount of money myself and seeing if I can actually do it
Becoming a pilot isn't too expensive, becoming an airline pilot costs more than a fucking house
I hope I'm not offending anyone, but I'm not too fond of the idea of being a "hobbyist" pilot
Don't think the economic and environmental cost is worth it for my own personal enjoyment
No matter how much I'd actually enjoy doing it
I mean, I'm just not too interested in GA, or even bizjets
So like, I would like to get through to airlines
Yeah same
I'd definitely rather do the integrated than modular
For this exact same reason
And think that in the US you'd have to get 10k hours before being able to work for the airlines...
Because of an incident that had nothing to do about lack of experience
Emirates academy's integrated ATPL is $220k...
AirArabia is 190k iirc
They only accept 18/19 y/o people or university graduates too IIRC
I think it's 18 - 26
Maybe the changed since I looked at it then?
IIRC 21-26 was only if you completed university
Yep
Before 21 you only need a high school certificate to apply
After 21 you need a degree
When I looked at it I think it was still 180k or something
Before March it was 180k
Which is still expensive
But also at least that covers everything
You get accommodation for the duration of the course, 3 daily meals, etc
And the reason why it's expensive is because you'd get paid a lot in Emirates
Tbf I wouldn't be too certain on getting right to Emirates
Wouldn't be too surprised if FlyDubai was the first stop
Well, IIRC they did advertise that they'd give you a type rating on the 777 or A380
wtf
love unpausing the sim
Well 220k is due to what I expect is rising fuel prices
I wonder who caused the rising fuel prices
It was normally 180k
And as I said, that includes an apartment on campus for 2 years (a rather nice one too)
for direct entry for LH
The only positive thing that could come out of the fuel price hike is more support for electric trains π
hoenstly not too bad
Don't you have to pass a special psychological exam for DLH?
A few of my friends were trying to avoid DLH and other LH Groups carriers for this reason
(like EWG)
Well, knowing about that flight, I wouldn't be surprised if DLH/Lufthansa Group are stricter on that
Yes

dont see why i'd fail tho
i already have control of peoples life
I'd always be scared to do any kind of psychological examination. I can't help but feel that a lot of it is very always very "subjective"
it is
it's based on scores and stuff
i've had the pleasure to view a few when doing my psych ward training
Yeah but like, maybe one psychologist thinks X is fine, another thinks you're the next Lubitz
Well, tbf every academy (especially ATPL courses) requires some psychological evaluation
Maybe I Just don't know, and I'm scared of what I don't know hahah
But usually they're not like full-on evaluations
if all fails ill just do my ppl and vibe
Yeah, it's fairly basic
Advanced Ultralight
Is just a little harder than to get a driver's license

seems like a dream
With Emirates for example, they simply pose it like a 'no wrong answers' assessment to 'build a picture of your personality traits'
I didn't yet get that far, so can't say what it looks like
or guy sdont worry
if ppl doesnt work either jsut build a homecockpit
same price as a ppl

Tbf with WinWing it's getting cheaper and cheaper too
I am still absolutely shocked by a $350 full A320 overhead panel
i am thinking about building a homecockpit
Like come on
for that reason
$350????
That's a steal
Around $500 for a force feedback floor-mounted yoke, essentially a 1:1 737 yoke replica?
how much would a current a320 cockpit from them cost
Let me see
another sunset landing
Counting prices listed for global shipping here
- Sidestick: $62.40
- Full throttle pack: $242.98
- Airbus rudder with damper: $338.56
- Full A320 glareshield: $319.05
- MCDU: $133.85
- ECAM: $57.63
- AGP: 116.34
Total: $1270.81
Add $350 for a full overhead when it eventually appears
There's 1 major problem right now though
No PFD/ND
Yeah that doesn't look nice at all...
Landing right into the sun is annoying
Yeah, wouldn't wanna do that
its cool smog is acc modelled in the game tho
Never actually flown to india in sims yet
empty airspace if i do say so myself
yes
The closest I did was Sri Lanka
theres not a lot of good msfs sceneries for india sadly
Agree, it's nice the game does it
Also light pollution, I don't think any sims other than MSFS do it
my love
myeah
xp has decent clouds but the nightlights are just sprites afaik
so no emitted light
D:
Oh definitely, they're upgrading and upgrading
xp is
So I wouldn't say that anything is completely off the table
lack of addon updates and generally new ones
it's too bad because xplane is genuinely an amazing platform
and the sim requires quite some effort to just look pleasing visually still
Would be cooler if it was an MD-11 :P
3 engines is always cooler than 2
Don't wanna do long hauls
I would've done a Delta delivery, but...
Delta's based in ATL
I hate ATL
Would've done a Delta 772 delivery too, but same issue
I love how Delta's old liveries look
Even Ron Allen which iirc many people dislike
the current delta livery is criminally lame
yes
compared to ron allen or widget
yes
it would make sense for them to bring back some similar to those older ones nowadays, as they are trying to up their premium game again
Honestly Delta liveries have always been amazing/great, until now
cant exactly say that the current eurowhite screams premium
Even back in piston ops days they had an amazing livery
whats that
Like, try to tell me this doesn't look incredible
winctrl airbus throttle
Admittedly sitting there for
6 FCKING HOURS
oh i only have some other stuff from wnctrl
To just get from LA to Atlanta
it's alright
Was not as amazing
i c
cuz i was gonna ask how one would bind it with the l1011
do u have the airbus stick?
neg, i have combat stuff as i flew alot of dcs
I use the TM stick and Honeycomb Bravo for throttles. No problems with either
icl, quality of the dampening is poop but hey its 60 bucks so
prolly gonna get a Bruner and a Moza later on
Well, I used Honeycomb, but currently it sits in a storage unit cause I had to move around a bit, and the bravo is just bit too bulky to constantly take with you
myeah
speaking of the bravo
blackbird controls have got some sick throttles for it
727 replicas
etc
V1 has been praising them quite a lot
But I plan to get a bunch
I've even seen DC-6 sets on ebay
Prodesksim also have a bunch, I've been told theirs are bit worse than blackbird though
But also, they are the only ones who have MD-11 levers for example
Honestly I'm not sure how I got here but I don't think that's an MD-11
w finnair livery
Tbf I prefer the older one, but I think 340s didn't wear it
I did have an MD-11 in the older livery, but I don't think it was updated to v2
Ngl, if I had a choice irl of any single plane to get a TR on, it'd be a tough choice between the 340 and the MD-11
toulouse_
Nah thatβs fire
Where tf are you flying to, that weather doesn't look like Earth
KORF
norfolk airport
we doin cat 3 dual on this one πͺ
the closer i get the more red it gets jfc
Do you have some beef with Thor or something
ILS decided to say "aight I'm out"
Still no ILS, so going visual
MSFS weather be like
lmao
thank you navigraph, i wasnt sure what app i had launched
it does that sometimes where its like double size, but ive never had it be half of the screen before
new xplane update bad :(
simtoolkit crashed my sim when i launched it and connected it
I had the exact same opinion tbh, but I was pissed off at my old job and was flying a lot so I wondered if this was possible for me. Decided to apply and yeah Iβve stuck with it. It does also take a very very special type of person to do this job as well and itβs not exactly an easy job but it gets you into aviation and you get so see some really really cool shit.
You need one for any job working on planes, not just pilots and not just Lufthansa group. After the Germanwings incident it became pretty standard practice across the industry. A lot of safeguards now compared to before. At Ryanair we have a zero trust policy so no one is ever left in the FD by themselves with the door locked under any circumstances. DLH group have a very similar thing these days.
Also I wanna note a fully integrated course is all well and good until you realise you have a 6 month leeway before your licence expires and it was all for naught. Modular takes longer and is considerably cheaper and it also gives you a really good in to keep the licence if airlines decide to lay off half their employees because fuel is too expensive.
A lot of people I know had significant issues with integrated courses
Also knowing those people, they are all unbearable βdaddyβs moneyβ types
Wait, what's that about 6 months before the license expires?
Genuinely curious cause I don't think I've seen any mentions of that, maybe something I missed
Just for ATPL if your not flying
That might just be a CAA thing
Remains of a Greek sparrow
Or some small thing
Ah, understandable
No Sorry
I didn't want to delete it
It's back
No bunnies were harmed in this flight
Alaska
Honestly, the wildlife & aviation mix there is just crazy
I think the only ever recorded aircraft fishstrike was in Alaska?
Then I've heard about deerstrikes
Bearstrikes too I think?
Btw, there's a free Yak-40 for XP12, right? Remember someone tellng me
yeah

Was great in 11, not tried in 12
Neat, thanks
love the a330
What's wrong with that?
Dear XP
How am I supposed to deliver planes
When the factory airports don't exist π
Idk why UWKG just doesn't exist at all
I need to get my Tupolevs somehow
How hard is it to edit scenery in XP
Cause like, if I can at least place the apron, a couple taxiways and the runway, that's good enough for me
Anything below 500 is fine, people are too obsessed about buttering it and then float down the runway lmao
I wanted like -300 maybe on that landing
There's one rather important reason why buttering is not necessary
But ofc the plane decided to climb and fucked me up
That being, the runway ain't infinite
Meanwhile the 767 pilots slamming it every landing
RAAS be like 10 metres remaining and you still haven't touched down
I mean, it takes a lot of runway to stop a 767
At jfk?
Anywhere
Tbf, if I'm on a flight, I'd rather land with a bit of a bang than look out of the window and see the touchdown markings come and go
Gs are the more important measurement for landing too
Like, when you're in an A320/737 and come to land on a 4km runway, you can sacrifice some landing distance for smoothness. When you're in the likes of a 777, best not
I'd rather autoland in CAVOK conditions at this point cuz I get like -700 every landing
If you autoland every time, you'll never learn
autoland in sims is way too inconsistent too
and the quality of the airport you're landing at too
It might as well don't
I have landed at kai tak smoother than at Dubai bro I am inconsistent af π
I mean, that's already better than empty
I have a runway at least
A very uneven runway
for that you can just tick a box
what did you do my guy
Which tbf is quite a bit better than MSFS
My whole thinking in this case is just "Anything is better than not having the airport at all"
then go to steam
There's no scenery
I'm be happy to pay, at some point I'd appreciate if you could share some of these, the lack of these small airports has been frustrating for me too
UWKG just doesn't exist
Well tbf you won't use this one unless you do deliveries
I imagine the reason it doesn't exist in the first place is because, being a Tupolev factory, it's considered a strategic military object
oh
Finding any info about it is a pain
that's the tupolev factory π
there was an american airlines 787 that flew to constanta here in romania on the 4th
I can literally see on the maps that both runway ends have ILS, but can I make it? No. Why? Cause there's 0 information
Just make it up
I might
Tbf, I myself won't need it to have ILS lol
Cause I'll only be flying out of there
But well
Once I'm done with this one and understand the editor a bit
If there's any airport you feel is missing, I don't mind looking at it
I had a big navigraph flight plan with all Yak-40 flights from an airport, and almost all of them were missing
let's see if I can find it
Obviously I won't do great or high-quality stuff, I can't
But I imagine even just something you can fly into is better than having nothing
Ah yes, this time the problem was that the airport wasn't in navigraph
yeah the airport is actually there
but isn't recognized as such
IIRC Baiknour cosmodrome was the same
I'm sure I still have my beluga flight plan somewhere
Seriously?
(I'll never fly it
)
Not having Baikonur is weird
I did all of this by hand, the simbrief ones were absolutely terrible
I did it so long ago that one airway already broke π
The first is this one, right? Kolpashevo
Looks like it yes
W spaceport
I hope you do realise that if I make it, it'll be just the runways, taxiways etc
I have no idea where to even start with any custom objects
Also I just realised just how wide that runway is
100m is a lot lol
It is somewhere because Iβve flown to it I think
Some Russian forum somewhere on the internet
Hmm, fair
Amazing thing with XP tho you can add brand new airports
Set ILS, VORβs and have everything work like it was default scenery
Yep
Overall it seems much easier to make stuff than in MSFS
You can get Kai Tak in xp it doesnβt exist on the default scenery
Gotta say, making taxiways ain't that simple
Great success, we have some janky taxiways and aprons
Btw this is how the whole Tupolev facility looks like
Scenery dev arc
Basically lol
Damn, kinda proud even
let him cook
Why the fuck are there basketball courts inside the Tupolev airport/factory
It's almost the same π₯²
AviatorCro has created this release preview trailer for the upcoming PMDG 737-700NG for MSFS 2024. The 737-700 delivers on Thursday, 09APR26 complete with the new High Detail Update to bring the PMDG 737NG product line up to date as one of the best products available in MSFS 2024.
The lineage of the PMDG 737NG series has evolved along with the...
2024 only :(
I mean, we already have them for 2020
How much will it cost anyway, roughly the price of a coffee?
box ops
Does the default XP library really not include a single dirt road...
What am I supposed to do now? UWKG literally consists of dirt roads π
a couple of coffees actually
not this updated versiont hough
Nah, don't lie to me
they said it'll be free
The update adding the cabin and stuff for the 600, 800 and 900 for MF2024 are free
If flaps/slats are stuck on one side, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to extend flaps to get the other side to the same position (or at least as close as possible)
You really don't want to fly with flaps out on one wing, but not on the other
they're both stuck
ur time to shine
Yep
you're sitting in the left seat after all
Time to unleash all the piloting skill you have and don't have

ok I landed
how tf did I land smoother with flap asymmetry than with a perfectly good A330
night flights r chill
yeah they're both stuck
Holy kitbash
Also fun, this all needs to be just random low density housing. Guess will have to build that by hand too...
you're overcontrolling the aircraft hard
you get on a stable approach path, you make small, smooth inputs to correct your course if you need to, and you let the aircraft fly itself down to the runway
Yeah but if it was smooth the plane would have dived into the ground
that means your configuration wasn't right
Well you can't quite configure much with stuck flaps
oh, i didnt know that was the same flight
What
PC Flight Simulator X Trailer
legendary trailer
ye, isnt that towards the netherlands
Yeah there's a bunch of them
In the channel, also in the North Sea off the east coast of England
i knew about them in the north sea and england, just not the channel
What was that oil rig again
TIL
g'ole london
Guys give me a small runway in Europe
I'd say this part is done
Just all of this left now
Now it would be nice if discord loaded the fucking image
Oh and of course, still a couple more aprons to pave, and I need to do all the apron markings yet
Omg it loaded
It's bit annoying the editor doesn't let you copy and paste stuff, idk how I'm gonna be making the red octagons for parking stands, cause they are supposed to be identical, yet manually I doubt I'll be able to do that
@reef isle I mean, this looks good enough, right?
Why is discord taking 70 years to load images today
You probably just have poor connection
its funny, we just changed from spectrum to verizon internet, and i've been on wifi all day because i need to buy a longer ethernet cable, so i've been like paranoid that it's because of verizon
Since I have most of the basics done, I think it's time to use the airport in a flight
Where is my guy gonna fly
Now time to try to understand this
Well obviously the first delivery I do is Aeroflot, over to Sheremetyevo
Are you gonna deliver Tarom
Maybe eventually
Don't see why not
Okay how do I remove the pitot and engine covers
It's fucking 1984 I ain't got no tablets
The menu on the left
Okay yeah that's useful
Thanks
Gotta load over 5 tons of cargo (think just ballast) to simply get TOCG into working range lol
Beauty ain't it
Hahah, the crew voices in this thing are amazing
If you forget something and run through the checklist, they'll have some angry comment about it lol
I think that's Felis himself
If you look up at one of his tutorial videos that's his voice
Well there are multiple voices there
But I wouldn't be surprising if Felis voiced the majority himself
Now it's time to try to figure out all of this
Great success
Out of 3 engines I have
0 engines are working
Welp, it's almost 4am, I'm not really ready to deal with this at 4am lol
Today was my L1011 learning curve day
Needless to say I totally didn't get the INS to set up correctly, but I got it up in the air somehow
I envy you for being able to use a russian cockpit
Knowing Russian helps
But also
I still kinda don't understand a good chunk of things
Cause you have abbreviations etc
@rustic charm whenever you start using NVU this is your friend
https://forums.x-plane.org/files/file/34331-xnvu-calculator/
Also if you use LittleNavMap I can share a file with all the RSBNs there
Is bro flying vfr
Yesterday I was flying in vspeed and roll mode
Well
Until the plane gave up
These nav systems require separate learning
why didn't Russia just use the C-IVA, are they stupid?
I'd say Soviet nav systems are more comprehensive, at least from what it looks like
I gotta say
The 154M has literally the most random mix of instruments
Guess that's what you get when you need to switch from metric to imperial mid-life
Some of the Russian libraryβs would be good for this
True, maybe I should look up some libraries
I'm kinda happy with how kitbashing is going for now, it looks decent imo
The main problem for now is that the area is just very empty
Which well, I'm working on
Sorry, I hope I'm not overreaching, feel free to say no, but if at some point you'd like to fly togheter in shared cockpit I'd be happy to spend 5β¬ to try
Yeah sure, I don't mind
I actually wanted to try shared cockpit at some point for a while
Didn't know it was paid though
Itβs very good btw
I did it a few times
Super smooth experience overall
No lags or desyncs at all
So the free one allows to join, but not to host flights?
yes
Fair
But yeah, I don't mind doing shared cockpit, just tell me what kind of flight you want to do cause I'd need to prepare for it
I don't know
I don't think so
NoOne doesn't fly on VATSIM IIRC
so I'd defintely not push him to do it
Well I could try
I kinda want to try, just can't ever really find a good place
The controllers either are in the most random places, or part of an event
And I wouldn't want to do my first flight in an event
I just don't think it's my job to push people to do stuff?
I wouldn't mind
But it's not up to me to decide
Well, I'll just put it out here - just ask me, I really don't mind being asked anything like this. If it's something I don't want to do, I will say that, I won't do it. You're not pushing me to do anything by just asking, I really don't mind
yes
is it specifically for msfs?
Well, it's good that we know it's smooth then
ooo
That sounds fun
that would be fun
now only if I had the damn money for it
which airline?
747 lets go
what
Get the 742 π
Honestly, idk if I want to get it in XP
I want to see what PMDG comes up with first
Oh definitely, I'm not saying it's bad or anything
I just have everything in MSFS
I have everything in both but
I dont like setting xplane up
Good sim but effort som
Sim
MSFS has a shared cockpit thingy too iirc, but idk if it's good and stable
Alitalia Ofc
peak
Oh lord itβs coming
Honestly cannot wait
@rustic charm @reef isle boeing 720
Its fine MSFS kids on vatsim canβt figure out XP
I think the cables on my rudder pedals are dying
Its mid
isn't it buggy as well?
Casually turning XP into a city builer game
But I just thought that huge empty chunks of land make the airport look even more horrible than it is, and filling those 2 areas will be easier and quicker than trying to build up the whole Tupolev plant
So basically, I'll just do the easy part first
@reef isle what do you have in mind for a shared cockpit flight in the end
I think they saw the TU154 and went βI want thisβ
Didn't have anything in mind
Just wanted to know if you were up to it at all
Alright. I just gotta know which planes I need and where
Hahahah cool β€οΈ
Maybe I can help you out with the navigation
I can worry about flying the plane while you mess with stuff
Well tbf I wouldn't exactly put myself into an "obviously captain" role lol, to be fair you're more experienced than me overall, and definitely more experienced in Soviet jets
Let me look at some flights and see if I can find some interesting routings
Knowing what Tu-154s are, there will be plenty lol
Well thing is, the normal tier of shared cockpit seemingly only allows one person to join
I'd have to pay more for a threesome
Sorry
Yeah. I think with the 5$ plan you can only have one free person
That's one way to call it
WHAT
Hm, @reef isle how long of a flight do you want
Cause I found
Probably one of the weirdest flights you could do in a Tu-154
But it would take like 7:30 (which tbh, I had absolutely no idea a Tu-154 could get even remotely close to)
Now knowing fs dispatch, it could be wrong
But it could very well be right too
Well
It seems to be real
This is just crazy
Tbf, I'd pick something shorter first, but this is certainly a flight that I will do at some point
And the flight afterwards continued to Seattle
Honestly
I want to see how the US vatsim controllers would react to that lol
I think I have the full version actually
"Uhh... Mike-Victor-Lima? 801, could you please clarify the aircraft type?"
Ooooooh π
Gonna have to check when I get back but I believe I do
Got a special code for being a beta tester
Yeah probably something like that
Someone told me βcoolβ when I was flying one of the east coast events in a UN livery
Tbf having 4 crew members in a Tu-154 isn't even wrong either
Hahahahaha yes
Soviet aviation in a nutshell
Funnily enough
In Russia all pilots are still taught the roles of a navigator and a flight engineer in university
So when you graduate from one of 2 flight schools (which are full on universities too, it's 4-5 years of education in Russia), you're qualified to fly as a PIC (obviously while being a first officer in the beginning), but you're also fully able to perform the other roles
I don't know about the St. Petersburg university, but I am pretty sure Ulyanovsk uses a Yak-40 as the jet training aircraft
Not even a Yak-42, a Yak-40
That things pretty much a cropduster so for trainees itβs probably not that bad
I mean, tbf, in case what you can land it anywhere
Yeah
So it's probably a good choice
What's interesting though is that I'm pretty sure all prior training actually happens on foreign aircraft
For multi-engine they use DA-42s iirc (or 40s, don't remember)
Btw
So
A couple flights I could note as kinda cool
- VLK 367: UHWW - UHPP, Petropavlovsk is a neat airport and in good weather the arrivals there have pretty views
- VLK 379: UHWW - UHMM, Magadan is kinda cool, total middle of nowhere
- MVL 4141: UHMM - UHMA, if Magadan is the total middle of nowhere, then Anadyr is just pure void. It's also the easternmost airline-operated continental airport, located at 177.74 degrees east. Anything further than that is a random dirt strip
- AYZ 203: UUWW - URSS, Sochi to be honest is just a cool one to fly into, nice views on approaches and mountains surrounding the airport on 2 sides
I'm gonna try flying the 154 again
if xplane lets me
last time I tried the game said no
I think it said yes
Wait for a second
I think the M works for me but looks like shit

Second from the top
Yak-40 is there too
new russian technology
do I have to make an account
Ah, then probably yeah
I'd suggest making yourself a "trash bin" email for all that stuff
I uninstalled both 154's cuz they're both broken
I have this so much
there are so many mods for the 747-200 my god
ik it's crazy
Tbf though I did buy a payware version for MSFS which works fine
lmao
ah yes
WHAT DID YOU DO
A ramp
R u building a ground version of a russian aircraft carrier
I'm not, MSFS is
Yes?
There's an An-24, not sure if it got ported to 12 though
Can't find anything about a working one in 12 unfortunately
There was also an IL-14 but again, not sure if it got ported to 12
It's not too funny to see that on the only taxiway after a 7-hour flight from Moscow
Sadly can't find anything about it being in 12 either
Thanks
O that was in moscow?
Yike
No, that's Petropavlovsk
7 hours away from Moscow
Not too funny to land there in a triple after a long day and see that lol
Damn, the old Alrosa livery is kinda cool
Unfortunately finding any flight data is a pain lol
finally managed to fly again after almost a week
W livery
