#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)

flightsim.com is a nice domain if you wanna launch and monetise a file uploading site lol
wonder how much thats worth
Happy new year
may 26 be the year I get to fly a 747-400 for onceee
if we all survive long enough for pmdg to port it from p3d
oh and surely the bluebird 757 comes out next year
surely
isnt the PMDG 747 coming to MSFS the -200 and not the -400?
i remember them showing off a flight engineers panel
100 & 400
i dont have particularly high hopes for the bluebird 757
it has the half life effect, because it's been in development for so long, the hype turns into unrealistic expectations
gonna be quite a stacked year if dev all lines up for the companies
older stuff you got the l1011 if it comes this year, then JFs Fokker and 300, 747-100
modern a220, 747-400 & fenix neos
finally LFPG and KDFW
should be fun
thats's so nice, I've just ported all my controls and plugins from 11 to 12 and everything works
dont forget the a220!!!!
oh wait
i misread that as another airbus LOL
theres the imaginesim whilst not awful when my friends told my ini are doing one they were pretty happy abt it so
I think it was like 25 gbp for a mediocre scenery
LFPG and LIRF v2 are what i'm more excited about
this should be really fun
My predictions for 2026 were as follows
Now for my predictions of 2026:
"Definitely Yes":
- ini L-1011-500
- CSS 737-400 & 737-300
- FSS 727-100 (+ Super 27)
- AS/ToLiss A340-600
- JustFlight F70/F100
- BlueBird 757
"Maybe Yes":
- PMDG 747-100
- PMDG 747-400
- JustFlight A3B4
"Yes if they get made at all":
- ini L-1011 other variants
- AS/ToLiss A340-500
"Extremely Unlikely/Definitely Not":
- PMDG 747 other variants
- Aero Dynamics DC-10
- Aerial Simulations 707
- Classic Aircraft Simulations Comet
- Bluebird 767/787
Seems all about accurate to me
id be surprised if the JF A3b4 doesnt come out 26, in their recent dev blog it said its basically complete and ready for testing
pmdg 3 more 'couple of coffees' will be out too, and the fenix neos missing from that list
Oh... I completely forgot the Fenix neos existed lol
Tbh that shows my relatively small interested in modern planes cause as a friend pointed out, the A220 is missing as well
Yeah, the Fenix neos are definitely 2026. They were initially planned for end this year iirc
All have our preferences and tastes, I do wanna learn vor to vor nav at some point but i'll continue to be a magenta line brainlet hehe
Lucky
this isnt terrifiying at all
OH MY GOD I ACTUALLY CRASHED
THAT WAS TERRIFIYING
i ended up stalling and crashing
ice buildup was apparently the cause, i wasn't expecting that to cause a fatal stall though
2025 was empty
i fly like twice a year, if even that, i didn't fly at all this year
i've considered doing a day or one night trip just to fly a bit, like flying from pittsburgh to new york and back for no real reason
bad day for flying it appears
i really probably should have vectored myself around flying through the center of this, too late now though
So I flew with FD1003 2 days ago in Georgia
The day after that it was still windy in the area

this is genuinely some of the most insane weather i have seen
i'm 0/3 on flights in XP12 right now
Lmao
R u using default or as?
default live weather
i think at this point im cursed, i think i need to do another aircraft or something
flying in the us so expensive though
so is taking the train
Happy new year fellow UTC+1 people
oh
i somehow managed to choose literally the worst two routes possible with the weather currently
KORD-KBUF and KOAK-KLAS
ABQ-DFW should be fine
u too
Try flying in Norway and northern Sweden I've heard the weather over there is lovely
in the dead of winter?
I'd do it, but MSFS does a shitty job with representing bad weather so I'll probably end up in CAVOK conditions anyway 😭
Not too full for me, but considering I don't do this for work, very far from empty as well
This probably is better than the mobile screenshots lol
Still can't believe this happened
I think this is pretty
Although in reality it looks somewhat less pretty like this
Ngl, wish ini updated the 310 with the new EFB
Well tbf I wish they updated the 310 with the PW4000s that they already made for the A300, but just the EFB is at least realistic, adding new engines is definitely not going to happen
I quite fancy the Caravelle, but £3 a month seems a bit much
Yeah
If you pay once you'll get all future updates too IIRC
I gave the guy 15€ (I could have given him 8), and I'll cancel after this month
are you shitting me
is there nowhere on the globe that isnt going to cause me to crash because of the weather
thankfully it just looks like regular cloud cover and no actual wx, but still
Man, I can't get away from doing livery work 🥲
the latest Caravelle update changed the textures so basically none of the livery worked, so I just spent this whole time figuring out how to fix them and just managed after about 2h of messing around
hopefully I'll manage to do my first flight this evening
hopefully I won't end up like this
the nose windows were licensed from the comet
i'm not interested in the caravelle, but im sort of interested in trying out the felis Tu-154
the tu is so based
i love how the soviets copied american designs
the Tu-154 is at least uses a soviet cockpit design, but everything else was heavily based off of the 727
I wish Flightly had an android app
yesterday i found the CBT software that united used for classroom training on their 737 classics, so i was playing around with that
it took me 2 hours to get halfway through the electrical lesson, out of 18 lessons
i had to set up a windows XP VM for it too
sure
i literally just want to do a single flight that isnt going to be massive turbulence in cruise the entire way
yipee, good landing
that's a massive monkey off of my back, my first flight in XP12 is done
Got the Caravelle, only figured out the startup and done a couple traffic patterns so far but she seems lovely
yoooooo that's super cool
on the caravelle you have to set rudder trim yourself
because no yaw damper
autopilot is giving no aileron input
rudder trim is nearly 1 unit to the right
and in fact, side slip
THIS IS SO COOOOOOOL
I think it's cool guys
It is indeed, always heard old timey pilots saying how important it was do use rudder trim propetly and always saw it being done in old cockpit footage
but that was never really part of any flight sim plane I used because somehow apparently the yaw damper was always more capable than IRL?
but finally it's my time to set rudder trim
Try to fly it on vatsim
o7
oh yeah I deffo will 😄
I can't begin to explain how cool of a feelign this was
for the first time in my flight simming "career" (if you want to call it that, I never got paid) I actually had to use rudder and rudder trim as primary flight controls
Olympic had caravelles right?
Don't think so?
i have 3 monitors, but i can never get a triple monitor setup done to where im satisfied with it
the FOV is so weird, i like having my two main displays in view as well as the window, but trying to do that with three monitors is impossible
and then if its too big, you get like a fisheye effect where you can see 90 degrees with not nearly as much of a view
do u recommend 3 monitors
for like just pc stuff
or is it over the top
100%, 3 monitors is my sweet spot personally
i have an ultrawide and a regular 1920x1080 one rn
ive been thinking of going to 3 1920xs
i can play games in the center, usually i'll have a youtube video or spotify up on one monitor, and then on my third monitor i'll put up charts if im playing a flight sim, that sort of stuff
two monitors is good too, i don't know how anyone does anything with a single monitor
Uhh not really. The only thing that's the same between them is the fact that they're trijets with all 3 engines on the tail, that's it
true, i also dont know anything about soviet airliners
And that is most likely a coincidence too, cause the Soviets just prefered having the engines on the tail
Even the il-86, which is a widebody, was initially planned to have all of its engines be tail-mounted, but then during its development there was an official meeting between the Soviet engineers and the Boeing engineers in order to exchange knowledge (the soviets wanted to learn about the 747 to apply some of the principles in the il-86, Boeing wanted to learn about the Tu-144 and the supersonic work in order to apply that in the 2707)
The PC6 needs a ton of rudder trim. Also the KA50 needs a bit
I'm dual quad hd with a single monitor myself
Caravelle has a heavy feel for the size of it
@reef isle how hard is ti to fly the carvelle?
considering theres not many VORs left
it's alright
I've flown VOR only for a long time on different planes and it's always been fine
on VATSIM
might have boot up the g'ole xplane
I think in the sims most are still active
Idk if Xplane removes VORs once real ones get deactivated
In MSFS I was able to fly VOR-only all across the US and a fair bit in Europe too
Time to fly 2024
I would wait for 12.4
I’ve been super busy so haven’t been flying but simhaven+XPME lagging whenever I go near Frankfurt or paris
Even on default scenery for those airports
queue the airberlin song
Costs another 2 coffies to develop
I wish they made it. Screw the performance differences even, they're going to be minimal anyway. Just give us no-winglet visuals
MSFS is refusing snow
Had a goaround, but well, gotta do them occasionally
This plane isn't fun to fly on keyboard
LU/Zibo does have the perf differences and it’s free for all 5 variants
It’s a PMDG skill issue
Doing some pattern work at EDDF in the 720
I'm about to be over 20 minutes late on departure cuz of a DC-6
My first flight in the 737NG in months if not years
throughly enjoyed it, really cool mix of old and new, just like the iFly MAX 🙂
before today my last 2 flights in the NG were 18FEB24 and 30OCT23
Not exactly flight sim, but hell yeah
1:200 flight miniatures plastic model, the A320neo is way old and a diecast gemini jets model
anyone know how the start the Tu-154?
With a hammer and sickle
You take a lighter and throw it into the engine and boom fuel is cooking
And that's how the engines will start
ive been looking at the DHC-2 for XP12 ngl
doing some harbour air flights with it would be fun
Going to be honest and say Thranda dropped the ball a tiny bit with the Beaver. The sounds and the ground handling are not up to their usual standards. It can be "fixed" by also buying the REP pack for it
that's what i was looking at too, looks like a pretty massive upgrade
most normal DCS drama
whos cubanace
he made the Su-57 mod
The actual fuck
In that case, with the REP its one of the best ga planes
If youve not flown taildraggers much be ready for a learning curve though. Proper stick and rudder aircraft
hows it it? worth it now?
well i need different opinions
the videos look solid
but people on youtube usually have a biased opinion for moolah
yes, i will refrain from saying anything because i wasnt asked, but also
just keep in mind that the VNAV and cFMC is a public beta, after years of delays and "it's coming soon we promise"
it is better than nothing i guess, but also keep in mind that it's still very, very buggy
Hard to give opinion until I try descent portion but me and the person im calling are getting induced migraines by the way its shaking
yeah thats not entirely correct afaik
you are, the old one didn't even have the VSD
I'd be having a much better time if not for the violent shaking
r u using chaseplane or something
weird
skimmed through vids and streams cant find anyone who has this too
ok so some guy is doing lufthansa 431 in a 742
i did the same thing funnily enough
very cool
thumbs up emoji
wasnt even doing anything lmao
I was looking forward to how it was going to absolutely cook the descent and approach too :(
i have never had a WASM crash ever in MSFS, i have no idea how its so common for everybody else
it might have happened to me literally once in 1200 hours
how
oh
Feeling eepy?
Rare sight for me (in an airliner)
i bought an xbox elite series 2, because I use a controller more than I do any of my actual flight sim hardware, and holy shit is it a good controller
unfortunately x-plane is being x-plane and it hates controllers, so the back paddles are just mirrors of A/B/X/Y
i'm fairly confident that MSFS is going to have full support though
it's really fucking cool, you can adjust the friction on both thumbsticks, they're magnetic so you can swap them out, and it just feels good
and, the best part, it was cheaper than buying the full thrustmaster boeing yoke and throttles, which was my original plan

decided to check out the new CSS 737 update before my 1 month ran out... yeah no
the IXEG is so much better and its not even close
gave a look at the 20th anniversary update for the maddog too, not half bad honestly
subscription model for a aircraft addon is so chronic
it cant even do turnarounds from what ive heard
i'm not against the subscription model, especailly with how hit-or-miss flight sim aircraft can be in quality these days, you can pay $5 to try it out yourself before deciding to continue with it or not
what i don't like is how it's primarily a subscription model, and highly discouraged to buy it outright
i actually like to own the aircraft that i pay money for
well yeah its when the price to own is like 120 usd which is
p3d/xp11 era pricing
even leonardo has finally learned
i would disagree about x-plane pricing being high, but the IXEG version is still insanely priced too, $85 for the -300
though, to be entirely truthful, in X-Plane you really get what you pay for, cant say the same about MSFS
speaking of MSFS pricing, how is the ATR? i've heard that it's a pretty great beginner airliner for $20
not super interested in it right now, but it could be a fun option
didnt even know it was posssible to get a clear day in XP12
There is an ATR coming to XP
can't wait to not buy it
wish we had the old denver airport, but the current one will do
I also accidentally did the cardinal sin of landing an aircraft, you never touch trim below minimums or otherwise you’ll have a bad time
Peak
Mfw i always do thatp
i did it, and then at my flare i was like "this feels wrong" and i floated a little bit
i should have just left it and gotten used to it
it also distracted me from throttling down, which is also not good
I've flown it before the update and it was quite nice to be honest
And the sub is actually good for a "trial"
But I dislike the sub as a sub
I just hate subscriptions XD
And tbh, again, that's $120 for everything
and right now, and for the unknown future, "everything" only includes the -500
$120 for just the -500 overall would be outrageous
Most likely for under 2 months
when you compare it to a couple of coffees it doesnt seem bad
genuinely annoys me how I have to spend sm to get the 77f and 772 again
Aren't the 777s free to upgrade?
They are, but after buying the 77W not getting a discount on the others is dumb
True
Especially between the 77F and 77L
Like man
IT'S THE SAME PLANE
The 77W is at least a different model
Cause of course we don't get the regular -300 because PMDG
And about that, why the fuck can't they make the regular -300 and -200
The -200 would literally just require them to edit a couple values of the -200ER
The -300 would require a bit more work, but all the components are already made anyway
took a weird routing out of KMSP because i didn't think to vector myself around before heading direct to a waypoint
Its frustrating when theres sm ops and airports I have that use the 200er and freighter, but justifying the idea of a whole new plane instead of it being an 'addon' of sorts just
immediatly makes me less enticed
and the other stuff you mentioned them not doing for likely 'financial' reasons is so self enflicted due to their pricing lmao
my regret was falling for the hype of the 77w
the ideal pathway for me was 777-200er for engine variants, then 77f for some frieght at a reach but ehhh
I just hope they dont do some weird stuff around the 747s
Uhh
I reckon
They're just gonna do each variant separately
And most likely we won't see the "rare" variants
Things like -400D, or -100SR, or the early SUD variants
We're probably gonna be lucky if we at least get the freighters
I'm gonna be happy enough if they make the SP
oh hell yeah
they added the option to control a view with an axis in XP12
in XP11 you were limited to just an auto-centering view, which ignored any preset you had and always reset to center horizon
Time for my first real flight of 2026
Denpasar to Bangkok
And I'm in a perfect place to take pictures of these wonderful little things
737-500, fully active, taking off
And I should see another one land & take off before it's my flight
Sex livery
I have hardly flown the felis 742 since I bought it ages ago. Shame, cos its v good
Man why the fuck is everything in Europe so fucked
North of the alps it’s all LIFR and 3ft of snow
Now I’m getting called off standby for minimum rest tmrw because people don’t have the hours to do the last few sectors
Home standby and then work
Holy shit thats ass
60 min to the aircraft
If they give you 60 min then your aircraft is going to be delayed
They are 11h unless they need to push the start
And it’s covered under basic pay so technically it’s paid but it’s not
I have that same rule
Its sounds shitty for you though
Lucky with 11 hours, mines 24 hours 💀
Do u get paid on the home portion too or nah
Only active hours?
arent u supposed to be airborne rn
Yes
noooo the xplane store sale ended today :(
oh, something is very broken with the levelup 737
the DEP/ARR button goes to the hold menu, the menu button goes to the fix menu
the INIT REF, RTE, and LEGS pages work fine
We have until 6:25am so it’s fine
No 6:20
I’m limiting the crew hours by 5min
nothing beats this, apparently
something really funny about the xbox elite 2 controller, on my stock xbox controller the triggers would "stick", if i didn't make smooth inputs then xplane wouldn't register that they centered and it would get jammed in either direction until i pressed it again, but the elite 2 doesn't have that issue at all
very cool, xplane decided to stop loading after an hour and a half of flight
Fun
the only thing i could think of that might cause it to happen is the xa-snow plugin
removed the xa-snow plugin, and adjusted my settings down, so hopefully this wont happen again
very cool
i'm downgrading from the beta and seeing if that fixes anything
this was a beta issue, im guessing the beta includes the fix from the scenery gateway, but it was implemented incorrectly or something
i'm pretty depressed because i feel like I can't trust XP12 now, like any routes over 2 hours in the IXEG are going to crash and it's going to be wasted effort
the RAM issue I had in the 737 over europe might be related to the beta too, because I was flying almost over the same spot in the same aircraft before I upgraded into the beta and had no issues with crashing or memory on that flight
Lmao what
Why don't you respawn somewhere near the sim crashed?
here for example XP11 crashed, I respawned to an airport nearby, set the fuel and payload to what I had, quickly programmed the FMC and used the map to teleport at the correct place speed and altitude
took no longer than 10 minutes
had to do the same in FS2024 a few days ago
report it
horse
That's an A300
I was tempted to get it on ini's end of year sale
(Tempted to get it thanks to 1 successful flight in the A310 boosting my confidence)
Ended up not doing that though
a300 is probably in my top 3 even though i dont fly it much
I need to do some research on previous airlines and routes it does
do recommend it, and has got me more excited for the 757 and 747-400
I love the mix of modern and older dial stuff bleh, hurry up bluebird and PMDG >.>
Yay
Easyjem
Thai
Their old livery is pure peak
Tbh their current livery is as well
And they used to be based in Don Mueang until I think 2006 when Suvarnabhumi opened
And idk why but I just love Don Mueang
Also don't forget to fly some Iran Air
Oh and Thai did fly that thing to Kai Tak if you want a challenge
Eastern
Eastern never had -600s tbf
Only earlier ones
JAS had -600s, American had -600s (they in fact didn't operate any others), Air Hongkong, China Airlines, China Eastern, China Northern
There's not as much to choose from as with other A300s but still quite a bit
Oh, the airport every single one of my Airbus planes has been in, but not a single one has landed in
Wlel tbf that's a lie, plenty of A320s I have started in Hamburg
I love this scenery for that reason
Thai a300s are so nice
I did some monarch stuff with this before as well but
not much else
think some Emirates too? icr
oh according to ini this thing did lots more than I thought, got liveries for alitalia, air france, transavia holland, metallic american and even modern delta
hapg lloyd too
I gotta get to planning
Ehh ini made some liveries that -600s never wore
But that were present on B4-200s and other B4s
Like I think Hapag Lloyd only had one -600 on lease from Lufthansa, the rest were B4s
Air France and Alitalia didn't have any -600s either I'm pretty sure
Delta I think only had A310s?
Well ini (or I think it's just a painter who ini hired) just did more in order to expand potential playability
Like with the A310, they also have tons of liveries that A310s never wore
When JF release theirs (and I reckon that's this year) we're in for a treat
Unfortunately still no B1/B2, but it's much easier to imagine that a B4-100 is one of those
It's gonna be easier to imagine that JF's B4, with its gauges and flight engineer stand, is a B1, than imagining a glass cockpit, 2-crew -600 as one
True
just realised I called them JT not JF lmao
but yeah both of their products are gonna be nice, the F70/F100 looks so fun
xplane runs quite smooth w the new public beta
even with XPME and max settings
wait the felis has a cargo version now
when did that release
Quite a while ago. You get a discount if you own the pax version

i think it includes some other bits too, like digital display options, but i dont know if that carries over to the pax one
no, just different engine displays
And the other INS thing
5:30am, time to go to the airport lol
i got my streamdeck plus, i dont know entirely how much i like it
it is cool, and there are some awesome profiles for MSFS, but outside of that is the wild west
if you fly anything outside of the fenix A320, PMDG 737/777, and iFly max 8, you have to set everything up by yourself manually
it's actually not hard at all to get pilotsdeck set up with XP12, it's just using a command/dataref finder to bind everything to, but the hard part is making everything look nice
Xplane is a horror game
man I'm so disappointed
I managed to survive the whole IFR part, I even got very stable on the ILS without F/D with some gnarly gusts, then when the runway was in sight my brain just went "hurr durr, no need to try as hard, it'll be easy now" IMMEDIATELY got super unstable and did a barely survivable landing
you are a superhero, you cannot be disappointed
Indeed
got slow over the threshold and had no pitch autorithy to flare properly 😭
was full nose up elevator and barely anything happened 🙁 (flaps retracted is a replay issue)
Caravelle is just built different, they don't make em like they used to
I was hoping that not retarding the throttles until pretty much touchdown would be enough to compensate, I was wrong
is simbrief down for anyone else
Wild west you say?
I love not being able to see a thing
And I'm over in Dubai
Where are you flying
Where were you
Bangkok
Only a 6 hour flight?
Also when I landed there was an Iran Airtour A310 taxiing along the runway, but I didn't manage to catch it
DXB Terminal A is nice
The hell am I saying I've seen a Concorde
You've seen a DC-6 man
I guess we can say
I think it's a VC-10 anyway
Not a single non-retired long haul airliner lol

Also, I guess I know how Emirates manages to fill the 380s now
This flight today was marketed as 5 flights for 5 different airlines
EK375, TP6361, AC7602, QF8375, DE5976 all in one plane
Flightradar shows it as for example "TP6361 -> EK375"
Cause the flight itself is EK375
But TAP Air Portugal sold tickets to it on their website as TP6361, Air Canada did that as AC7602, Qantas did as QF8375 and Condor did as DE5976
Ah yes, condor flight no where near germany
Air Canada flight even further from Canada lol
Isn't that just the usual code sharing?
It’s easy to earn Skywards Miles on everyday spending and leisure activities, as well as when you travel.
I think it just means that you can book the flight via other carriers
Yeah
But the point is, Emirates has passengers from 4 other airlines on this flight, so that's how they fill the planes lol
Gotta say though, the 380 is very nice to be on as a passenger
It's gonna be 20 years old next year
Are you sure it's safe to evacuate in that location
Welp, it's finally the moment
After almost 2 years
I ordered the first set of flight sim hardware lol
That set being the thrustmaster airbus sidestick and the honeycomb bravo
No custom levers yet, that will be a bit later
worlds funnest skydive
guh???
Yeah
aerosoft has it for $65, and a $13 discount if you owned either the freighter or pax
20% off if you own any other 727
the 727-200 pax is only $42
The stores have different prices
And is separate from the freighter and the super
The -100 is one package for the pax, the freighter and the super options
ohhhhh
thats kinda unexpected
the P-8A mod for the zibo 737 works pretty well in XP12 surprisingly
i had to remove the exterior windows, but that took like 2 seconds, and you have to set the winglets to none so you dont get two winglets
its more like
PMDG loves perfectly manufacturing drama to hit at the precise moments when they become irrelevant again, so its just this up and down of drama -> people remember why they dislike PMDG -> people forget drama -> people go back to liking PMDG
truly a vicious cycle 😌
Their own forums drive most of it to be honest. Truly the most boomer of all sim boomer sites.
please sign your posts with your full legal name, address, and last 4 digits of your social security number
its a hard competition with avsim
ngl
P3D?
XP12 according to ngc's earlier post
ye, XP12
still works, just needs some fixes which took me like 2 seconds
1,000 artist hours. 13 days. 1 epic reveal. Introducing the first @Boeing widebody 787 Dreamliner ft. our new aurora borealis-inspired global design. This stunning aircraft pays tribute to Alaska’s rich history and proudly reflects our bold vision as the country’s fourth largest global airline. We can’t wait to welcome you on board.
What is it with airlines and ugly liveries
It's not that ugly
thank god it's not a permanent livery, it's just for their 787s
i love the inuit man on the tail
the alaskan inuit man and the hawaiian hawaii girl are some of my favorite airline liveries
Anyone tried the msfs dash 7?
Tbh I wouldn't quite say it's ugly, but... it's not too great either
Welp, time for my first ever flight with a sidestick and throttles
Also, what's the go-to stuff for honeycomb custom levers?
Well flying an A320 with a sidestick is much easier
I see a 727
DC6 so based
And I'll finally be able to land it without crashing I hope
I think I'll have to wait until it warms up
You don't say?

Ok tbh I give up with the sparky 747 myself
Even with the enhancement it's really buggy
If anything it's worse
Mhm
Aaaand this flight ended just like all others in the DC-6
Ngl, maybe I should try using less flaps
Cause I did a test run landing with flaps 20, and that was seemingly fine
But whenever I do an actual flight and use flaps 50 as per procedure, I touch down fine and then it starts behaving erratically

I remember wasn't there a sticker inside the DC-8 that said flaps 50 only in emergencies
Shouldn't be
Flaps 50 is the regular operational landing setup
You generally approach with flaps 40, switching to 30 and 50 to manage speed and altitude, and just before landing you extend full 50
In this plane flaps act as speed brakes too, cause there are no actual speed brakes, and generally you want to touch the throttles as little as possible
you cant park there
Radial engines don't really like changing power settings, so on approach you set them to a predefined value and then use flaps to decelerate or accelerate
i havent really had that issue in the B-17, obviously you can't make microadjustments, but making big and few adjustments to keep a general speed range works for me
Try to land a bit faster idk
Flying this is much, much, much different from any jetliner, even the early ones, it's not even just about the speeds. It's such things as this. You need to be able to completely switch the mentality of how you operate the plane
I need to do the opposite and land some 40kts slower
This touchdown I had was at 124kts, that's just way too fast
120kts is about what i land at in the B-17, so that should be a good speed
For a 124-knot touchdown I should've just not used flaps at all
afaik the DC-6 is larger and heavier too
Who the hell is that
Welp, just checked the cockpit plaque, and it says that for my weight there, 125kts would've been a flaps up landing speed
And in normal landing configuration I needed to land at 99kts
Brother slow down
Did a couple of flights in the FSS 722 for the first time in a while. She is pretty well done, but running a sim that you are not that familiar with is a chew
Need to spend some time making the keybinds more familiar
it's pretty fun, definitely one of the better early airliners available in MSFS
Haha, 707
i remembered the AH 707 existed the other day, and i was so tempted to buy it again, but then i remembered that it has cessna 172 sounds and immediately was turned off
i don't entirely mind that it doesn't have a working CIVA, but that is kind of a bummer
I was gonna ask what AH but I remembered
Uh yeah, love me the nose gear facing perpendicular to the runway
And the outer reversers not animated
And the random beacon light in front of the plane
And the fsx ah model
Can you tell I hate that plane?
Well, Alaska's been a Boeing airline for the majority of its existence
they did a uk unit for a italian airport hello 😭
13 pound to upgrade bleh
My immersion in this plane sim is ruined
I just found out you can click the FSS 722 civa nav ready light to speed up the alignment

is that levelup or couple of coffees
Zibo
personally i find the visual upgrades of the levelup to be worth the tradeoff of a slightly worse flight model
ibr
im not a cc myself
if the product is good idrm
a big if
obviously not right what they're doing but what can you (as the consumer) really do
that definitely killed any intention of mine to buy their 727 pax versions
pretty much the only good thing to come out of FSS
Fokker time
and im looking forward to flying that plus the dash soon again
the freeware ones are still significantly better than the FSS ones lol
their paid ones are even more worth it, but theyre not cheap unfortunately
outside of the weird landing gear collapse and dual engine failure in XP11, i havent had any issues
bruh lmfao
almost certainly not going to be flyable, just an AI asset
most of that roadmap is just the previous years' roadmaps copy/pasted lol
Hell yeah
Not going good lol
So what's going on:
Attitude indicator is out, nothing
I can only judge my pitch by looking at speed and altimeter, and roll by looking at the compass
No visibility
No AP or anything
You did turn on the radio masters yes?
Sounds like a descend into VFR type situation to me
Well
No VFR
Everything's overcast quite low
I got into clouds right after takeoff
Now that I did not. So that's most likely the reason why the AP isn't working
Yeah they're basically turn everything on switch
Wait, that's the reason why no attitude indicator as well?
Most likely
Also now that I'm remembering, I think I had the same exact thing the last time... fuck
Although I think I did have the attitude indicator, just was unable to track any VORs or engage the AP
I mean, you flew with keyboard for a long time, so I believe you can get yourself out of whatever situation you'll find yourself into
Hahahh
And yeah, just the 2 switches, and now everything works...
I'm used to the 727 where the radio master switches control, well, the radios and the VORs power
Even if you forget them, the plane works. Even the AP works, you just won't be able to track VORs
Guess I'll just reload and fly again, this flight is definitely not for keeping anyway
I'm surprised I managed to stay airborne with nothing for that long
Actually I think I'm gonna go for something similar in terms of how advanced it is, but I'm a bit more used to
Also btw does anyone use honeycomb here? I still have no idea how to map reversers to the levers
Time to go into the grumpy Canadian sky
I certainly need better Ottawa lol
yeah, i got the plus
hows it and how exactly does it work w games
thinknig about buying one (not for flying though) and im wondering how exactly i configure it
idk, it's pretty handy if you like to quickly change audio mixing with programs and stuff
the flight sim integration is pretty limited as far as pre-set profiles go
there are incredible free profiles for the PMDG 737/777, fenix A32X and ifly max, but outside of that, you're going to be spending a day to set up a profile for each aircraft that doesnt have one already
its definitely pretty cool, it takes some time to get used to, but it can be pretty handy
truthfully its mostly just a hotkey box
i ahve been very tempted to buy the rotate MD-80
I think MSFS dislikes Canadian VORs

Also I thought I had the world update for Canada (which includes CYFB) installed but apparently not...

I wanna mount it to my desk, not have it atop but below
More of a handy tool because the keyboards miles away
i have mine just sitting on my desk
i'm not sure how the mounting situation would be with the other models
the plus has been really awesome for me personally, having physical knobs is really nice, i dont know if i would like the regular or XL with just buttons
oh
i forgot about the extended sim pack, i'll have to buy that
i think it only adds failures
Wait is it not an update?
the art update is, but the extended sim isnt
i think the extended sim is only going to be like $10 though
a couple of coffees
$5 for the extended sim pack
god the ixeg 737 is so awesome
A330 with CF6
Just a bit of fog
Uhh I'm not too sure I'm within takeoff minimums
Tenerife ah situation
thats a very nice livery
Yooooooo Aeroitalia
There are some incredibly HILARIOUS cockpit videos of the pilots being very, shall we say "nonchalant" I wish you could understand italian
ITA sued them recently because their branding is too similar to Alitalia, so they'll become Air Italy soon
(yes, the third Air Italy in history...)
Lemme guess
They're gonna go bankrupt
I hope not, but history is certainly not on their side 😛
I've flown with them and it was quite nice
I hope they dont change the livery but wonder if that was part of the deal
or reason they sued
He added that he expects an initial aircraft to be carrying the new name and livery by March next year, and the whole fleet to be rebranded by the end of 2026.
bweh :(
yeah was part of it I'm fairly sure
it's not the same but you know, both liveries had the vertical stab doing the "A"
(hopefully that makes sense 😅 )
it does, shame though
Seriously, that's considered too similar?
"Nooooooo too similar 😭😭😭"
I mean...
For the layperson they're kind of using similar design language
I personally was OK with it, but I can see why that went the way it did
The name is also very similar
Meanwhile 90s East:
Lmao
Also meanwhile
I’m gonna be honest, Italian airlines never struck me as interesting
Well Rome and Milan aren't too far apart
It's a nice short hop to do though
Flying into/out of Malpensa in clear weather is sooooo pretty with the mountains as the backdrop
I gotta get the Alitalia maddawg delivered so I can do short hops through Europe
DME-INN
Looks rather bland
being in the tfdi voicechat right now is insane, i heard every accent imaginable out of everybody there
i'm definitely a boomer at heart, technology still sometimes seems so insanely futuristic to me
i can be talking live to someone from australia, the UK, france, and the southern united states without any discernable latency, that shit is so crazy
Huh
Looks like TFDi finally added VR support for the MD11
Can't believe it took like a year and a half
oh yeah, we're in
https://flightsim.to/file/77633/tfdi-md11-ge-pax-alitalia-2001-2003-i-dupd
First livery updated
✓ New Art Update | TFDi MD11 [GE PAX] Alitalia (2001-2003) I-DUPD 8k is a Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 mod created by FD1003, TFDi. Alitalia operated the MD11 for passenger service from the '90s to 2003, this livery represents the latest iteration of Alitalia's passenger operations with the MD11.
The other two will follow tomorrow
i wasn't thinking and forgot that all of hte liveries have to be converrted
i wanted to get a quick fedex flight in to test it out, but there aren't any liveries
holy shit
the lost art of normal mapping
more polygons equal more better
especially the external window frames that are less than a half inch deep

for some reason they chose a real 1-800 number, and google turns it up as a domestic violence support number?
they 3D model everything down to tiny ass bolts on the fucking engine, yet they get AO baking and wire positioning wrong in the dead center of the cockpit
really? they 3D modelled the interior of the overhead baggage compartments, yet you can't actually open them
this might actually be usable with the failures, but even the oxygen mask compartment is modelled, including the oxygen generator canister?????? what are we doing here man
the inside of the bathroom doors, including some decals, are modelled but no actual restroom interiors
Time to get rapid depressurization
i'm all for high quality and detailed modelling, but just making everything one million polys is not good modelling technique
i'm guilty of it, but i'm also not a professional, nor am i releasing something to a massive audience
20 bucks

the rotate MD-11 still blows the TFDi one out of the water, but the TFDi one is pretty nice
fedex actually doesn't fly this route with MD-11s, but im making a special exception because of the update, and also because i don't have a 767 worth flying
I mean
better than mscenery
It's still good
Ah yeah did y'all see that mscenery released an A350

You're the only one I've seen have that opinion, howcome?
Tbh the TFDi is really really nice
It's a top tier plane
Yet to try the v2 because of their amazing servers...
But even v1 was quite amazing
I've just got it installed
Even before this update the tfdi was better
I can't vouch for any other sims and any other MD-11s, but the TFDi is definitely one of MSFS' top
the TFDi really mostly suffers because of how awful of a core simulator MSFS is
I mean, MSFS isn't the best core of course, but I don't see the higher-end planes actually suffering from it
When it's from a dev who doesn't really give a fuck and just relies on default everything, the MSFS-ness shows
But I don't think on planes like the MD-11 it becomes an issue at all
Money
Xplane + msfs + $80 plane + second $80 plane
the mango soundpack is unbeatable too, their sounds are top tier
like, the default airports and default physics of XP can't hold a candle to MSFS, it's just night and day
i don't feel like i have to go out and download a custom airport scenery every time i fly in XP, but i feel that way in MSFS
which makes flying cargo a million times more enjoyable, you can just choose two airports and fly, you don't have to worry about getting scenery, especially ad-hoc cargo services that fly to smaller airports
finally made my last purchase of the holidays, and the last aircraft that i'm interested in getting for XP12
rotate MD-80 + mango soundpack + the mango IAE model
i actually didn't know too much about the MD-90, and as far as i know XP12 is the only sim that has the MD-90, so that's pretty awesome, so for $5 it was a no brainer
and the default laminar MD-80 is obviously horrible in comparison

I'm so envious
At least I still have the 772 🥲
i was mostly going to fly delta with it, for $5 i'm fine with just flying 1 airline with the IAE
I'd love to have an MD-90, but there's no way I can justify myself buying the Rotate MD-80 since I have the Leonardo, love it, but already use it fairly little (and should use it more)
Also the Fokker 70/100 will make that even more "marginal"
XP12 has impressed me so much that i haven't had an issue buying duplicate aircraft, the sims are such different environments that it's night and day for me
plus the MD90 sort of fills the gap of the 717
yeah, but it has the big goofy engines
But that's not modelled in that pack last I checked
Yeah the main appeal for a 717 to me is cool MD-11 cockpit with cool short haul flights
the TFDi one in P3D is awesome, but it's also stuck in P3D, with default airports that have been the same since FSX
Yeah I've nearly bought the 717 for FSX a couple of times but I already know I'd end up not flying it
I can find enough short flights with the MD-11 to make me happy for now
don't even bother getting it for FSX, the hard VAS limit is going to kill you with such a high fidelity aircraft
Yeah, that too 🙁
But yeah, regarding MSFS and Xplane, I'm not leaving MSFS, The A300B and L1011 are non-negotiable, I won't have the will power to miss them, so even though I also prefer Xplane12 I can't justify buying duplicate aircraft since I'm not going to switch from one to the other, I'll have keep both
the rotate MD-80 has a very slightly different cockpit layout from the leonardo one too, it's interesting
Oh yeah McD had tons of different cockpits
Not surprised tbh
Not as bad as the DC-9, but still crazy
it's always a weird feeling buying an $80 aircraft and then going to bed before completing a flight with it, but that's just the way flight sims go
i don't have a specific route in mind or anything yet, i just wanted to get my foot in the door and my budgeting list cleared out
well, that's a lie, i do have a specific route in mind, but i don't have anything set up for it yet
im having trouble getting the mango soundpack working :/
the IAE engine model works fine, the sounds don't
ah, i was installing the IAE mod wrong, i had renamed the acf file to keep it cleaner but that broke the sound pack
i love the MD-80s stall warning, SCHTALL
i dont know what i did, but somehow the time is slowly moving backwards on its own
75 wen

i'm shocked that there are still people around that have the qualifications to fly those
Tbh I'm sure considering it's the last one left and it's out of civilian use, it's subject to different rules
Cause I doubt any 1011 training facilities are left
Can I fly it
something is not right with the rotate MD-80
VNAV will not arm, after takeoff it was stuck in T/O and CLAMP
i figured it out, i was in EPR TO mode, it needs to be in CL to engage VNAV
that's automatic in the leonardo one, which is annoying that it isnt on this, but i'm not sure which is accurate

STABILIZER BULLSHIT"
