#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)
1 messages · Page 42 of 1
the 727 is pretty fun in that it requires a lot of aviation intuition to fly it
its kind of funny because i find the autothrottle to be a little weird, especially in IAS hold mode for vertical speed
im guessing your not supposed to use IAS hold with autothrottles, but using vertical speed feels weird too
spent 2 hours enroute, and i accidentally deleted my entire flight plan when i tried fixing a discontinuity
not particularly impressed by the default aircraft
default F-14 is pretty awesome though
government charter flight, one of the fancy ones where they block your registration out
Welp, it's pouring in Tivat
And since quite often in such weather they use runway 14 instead of the usual 32 that's used in good weather, this gives me an excuse to get a takeoff from there
ok so I smacked into a fucking mountain
I don't think that's good
Just been given this
Southern England VFR Sectional charts, unused logbook and the UK&ireland Airfields manual with ground charts and airfield information
All from 2004
Heathrow without T5
Also runway 23

still loving FSX, i love my video games having a hard cap of 4GB of ram
im going insane, im considering dusting off the captainsim 717 again, because FSX VAS is getting on my nerves, especially with the TFDi 717
And with a third runway as well
Ngl I was surprised when I learned that in the 60s Heathrow had 5 runways
Folks, are the CS 767s absolutely horrible, or are they horrible but not absolutely?
I might just give up and buy one of the freighters, not having any 767s is so painful for freight ops 😭
It’s not great, but it does fly and somewhat realistically
It uses all default 747 systems, which in itself isn’t super unrealistic I guess, but still, not custom systems or anything
I've just been told it uses the 747 flight model
I think theres a mod somewhere that somewhat improves the systems, I know there was for the ''777s'' but unsure if its also for the ''767s''
i cant confirm or deny that, but what i do know is that the ND shows airport maps, which is so wrong and so blatantly from the default 747-8
The FMC literally says 747-8 with GEnx
that too, but that's just text, doesnt nessicarily mean the flight model is copied (though i wouldnt be surprised if it is)
Isn't the 767 pretty agile for its size?
no comment, i have never flown a 767 irl before to compare
Is it worth spending 20 extra dollars to get the -200 and -300 with their respective cargo variants?
So 777-300ERSF is seemingly in service now? Completely missed when they actually started flying
PMDG, please
3:30am, still can't sleep, great success. Guess it's MSFS time
Things to do at 4:30am:
Sleep ❌
Alaska ✅
It appears the captainsim 717 may have torpedo’d my boot SSD
I had to wipe EVERYTHING, thankfully I mostly stored everything on my external 4TB drive and that seems to be okay
Well, this was the last thing I installed last night before powering off my PC
new livery, should be available soon™
hopefully tomororow, in its basic form (without cabin)
should be the first of at least 4 on the A330
few corrections and additions needed
The pinned message in question
hows the RHD simulations 767?
ive experienced the CS 767, and that thing is pretty painful, but ive heard mixed talk about the RHD one
that is one aircraft i have no plans on revisiting, the 717 at least got a bunch of updates since the last time i gave it a shot, it has really improved quite a lot
Tbf I assume the RHD one is also basically the Asobo 747 in disguise, but if anyone has it I'd like to know as well. The lack of a proper 767 is hurting
Although in RHD's defense
At least their FMC states that it's a 767 unlike the CS one which prefers to be called a 747-8i
Bad
I think it's more or less Captain Sim quality
Well, not surprising tbh
When will we get a proper 767...
I hope at least that it takes Bluebird less than 5 years to release theirs after the 757
And you said they were the ones who initially asked whether you wanna test, right?
beijing airport was interesting
great firewall of china existed but discord worked
funny
air china also isnt THAT bad of an airline
noone really speaks english or tries to speak english
and the plane was probably twice my age
David Jason narrates this information-packed documentary looking at the people who make air travel possible, from the pilots to the air traffic controllers and other unheralded but essential workers.
Captain Bjarnason, who lives on the outskirts of Reykjavík, is the pilot of Icelandair's Boeing 727, Gullfaxi, the country's first jetliner. Th...
New BBC Archive banger
From my experience in China overall that's quite normal
Chinese people, especially the people who are now 25-30 and up, never really learned English from what I could see
Which is fair for the most part, but in an airline? You work in literally the most international industry ever, the chance of having to work with foreigners is 100%, yet knowing English is not a requirement somehow
the only L i noticed is that
on my inbound i did NOT have wechat or alipay
i couldnt buy anything at the airport
Did they not accept anything else?
the vending machines didnt nor did kfc
They just didn't want to take it?
yup
Weird
i know now for next time
Yeah, from my experience in China best to assume they don't take anything. We mostly paid with cash, although sometimes they did accept foreign stuff. Some places even accepted Russian cards and all
How long did u stay in china and where
Well in recent times only in Guangzhou for about a week, maybe 10 days?
Overall I've also been in Shanghai for a brief moment, 2 or 3 days around 2 years ago I think
Also Beijing, Hong Kong (although I'd count it as a separate territory, it's very different) and somewhere on Hainan but that was all very long ago
Those must've been around 9-10 years ago
Would you recommend it?
Tbf the place was quite nice, it wasn't bad. Some neat landmarks
Also a good place for shopping, although probably only Russians have to travel abroad to get something for a reasonable price...
Btw about this basically all I could find:
- Both are not high-detail planes, not intended to be displayed on your front shelves but more so to satisfy the need of an average non-hardcore flight sim player
- Captain Sim is better in terms of exterior, texturing etc.
- RHD is better in terms of systems (although better still doesn't equal good, just closer to it than CS is)
Essentially as I understand RHD systems are not straight up copied from the 747, but slightly edited application of whichever systems are available by default
LLM output?
Sorry 😅
but yeah fair enough
Nah, I don't use that XD
Just a bunch of old posts comparing the 2, videos etc
"not intended to be displayed on your front shelves but more so to satisfy the need of an average non-hardcore flight sim player"
I envy your creativity
oooooh I see
Hahah that's just the way I write lol
Also RHD seemingly is just 1 guy developing it, kinda as a passion project
I don't think it's right to trash RHD or the plane, although I think the same about Captain Sim
Well tbf I don't wanna trash either one, sorry if it looks like that
oh no no no
you never implied it
I simply thought it was right to make it clear since these products are very often ripped apart by the "hardcore" communities (same goes for Captain Sim)
Yeah
Tbf
It's not right to talk bad of a plane if it's just not too high detail
Well
Talk bad unconstructively
yeah I think it simply has a different target audience
Yep
Not everything has to be 'study-level' as much as I hate the term
Not everyone can develop things of that level either
I do think that the captain sim planes are slightly overpriced, but hey, if you only care about a good looking 3D model, sort of alright-ish flight model and you don't care about the systems it's not bad.
Also a lot of people that sit and bicker about wether Fenix or Toliss has the better systems wouldn't be able to select a different SID from the one SimBrief gives them
Imagine how much time and effort it would take 1 guy to make a 767 from ground up, without using any default systems etc, and to make it on the let's say PMDG level of quality
PMDG of course are not the highest you can go
Those planes are long term multi-million investments
the "good" ones
But it's generally kinda the standard for the 'top of the market' planes
Exactly
yeah the community (especially the youngest part of it, that have been "spoiled" by exceptional planes at an exceptional price like the Fenix) don't quite realize that I think
I mean, tbf, with Captain Sim I have one issue - selling different engines separately
Now I don't know if they actually simulate different engines differently
Cause I don't have any of their planes
But even if they do actually represent the changes, that's still imo bit too much
I mean... I agree, but at the same time it's nothing new
The really rubbish part is that because of the marketplace I dont't think they can have any sort of program in place to give you a discount on one engine variant if you already own another version
PMDG is doing the same with different 737 variants too (which to be clear I also think it's shit)
unfortunately I think stuff like this can't be done on the MP
Technically they could through bundles
yeah? would be very clunky though
Like how the RJ is available at almost half price if you own the 146
oh I didn't know that was a thing 👀
I thought that was only for the JustFlight store
Technically it's still full price as the individual listing, but if you look at the bundle it's cheaper
oooooooooooh that's what you mean
right... yeah then it's not a "real" solution, still shitty that it's not an option, in the same way that it's shitty that PMDG doesn't offer a 737 bundle IMO
I'm sorry to bring up odd currencies, but that's how my store is - individually the RJ and the 146 are 23500KZT each, whereas if you own one of them, the bundle with "both" (but obviously if you own one, it just gives you the other one) is 13500KZT
That's true. And tbf, a 737 bundle would be really good
These bundles act like Steam bundles tbf
The bundles aren't too great though
Proper discounts would be much nicer
And I do think it's just a bit bad that the idea of selling different engines is normal
As an expansion of some sort, I can even understand
But paying a full plane price just to have a different engine is too much
Tbh I would prefer the return of expansion pricing overall
It only is bad for you when you want 1 specific variant
And it's one of the less popular ones
Like, let's say someone releases a full A340 lineup as expansions and you want just the -200
It's not gonna be the base one, cause it's probably the least popular one
So you're gonna have to buy a plane that you don't want first in order to have the one you want
But let's be honest
Most of the time you either want the full collection anyway (in which case expansions will save you a fair bit), or the most popular variant which most likely is the base
nah i do the same
it's a dangerous game with customs though
How's the flight factor 767?
Flying ol’ pointy again
captain sim: not even once
i have never attempted a credit card chargeback, but i might attempt it with this
it is literally unflyable from start to finish
i was hoping that it would at least be flyable
wait, maybe it wasnt the latest version? apparently it needs manually updated?
In the big 25 is insane
yeah, i was on 2.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.1 or whatever captainsim calls it, the latest is .6, which is a difference of about 6 months
hopefully it doesnt try to enable TOGA power during taxi, or stall on takeoff because it autorotates at 90kts
i can ignore visual bugs, especially some of the smaller stuff, i can even ignore procedure issues like the DC start pump needing to be turned on for APU start, but i cant ignore the aircraft literally being garabge to fly
Never let him cook again
Have you got the flight factor 767?
no
Mm
nice, the aircraft stalled itself and crashed
now back to looking at P3D and the TFDi 717
im fed up with FSX and the 4GB VAS limit, i crash almost every single time on approach
which was another one of the main reasons why the captainscam version looked even more interesting
i jsut feel horribly depressed right now
i took a chance to buy something for myself even though my finances were horrible, just to keep myself occupied and with something to do after my grandmothers funeral yesterday, and it backfired hard
i cashed out my stock market money for this
and then my C: drive died yesterday, so i had to wipe that completely and re-install windows, so i spent all of last night trying to get MSFS set back up again to fly it
i dont even mean to traumadump, its just that this whole situation has been piling onto an already insanely shitty two weeks
It's been a hot minute since I've flown
JAS 👀 JAS Gripen
I see an A300
I think there is quite a big difference between CS and FF selling engines
Still shitty
But it’s 20usd as a one time purchase for all variants to get all engines
Not “777-200RR - $60”
I think the -300 will be part of the engine expansion
Not too sure about that tho
@reef isle wonder who made the livery
Also btw I think it's something that's defined in the livery config, correct me if I'm wrong there, but Volanta mistakenly identified it as I-DUPB instead of I-DUPC
Oh cock™
Probably I forgot to change it
I'll check later
For once I'm useful
Probably won't bother updating it until the next MD-11 update
Yeah, makes sense
They've got a major visual update lined up anyway, I expect that might mess up the liveries
So could need other more important fixes anyway
Ughhh I can't wait until the updates
The visual one is nice, although I'm currently satisfied with how the plane looks as is
One thing I want more
ARE THE PW4000S
Yeah that's exactly what I'm waiting
Such a lovely plane...
Wish I could fly on one irl...
Landing with the alps in the background was also really pretty
hanging around at JFK, waiting for fuel to load & then its off back to Heathrow
love the UAL tug
thank you GSX for that bs
its good
very good
better than the PMDG but I havent touched that in about a year and a half so cant speak for it now
Better than the 767?
way better
Has it ever went on sale
oh shit
I thought oh yeah sure I'll randomly post in on ini's server
fogot about it for a few minutes (until the guy reacted), then I realized what I did...
737 orig?
Yeah that's the -200
cockpit gaming
the zibo/levelup 737, cant get cheaper than free
Decent one or not?
If your running 11 the Les Saab is pretty cheap and pretty good
JAR 320/330/340
But they are absolute ass
The A340-500?
Ok how ass are they really though
I'm not really educated in xplane aircraft developers
I just know that Felis, Toliss and Flight Factor are peak
with xplane, it definitely feels like you get what you pay for
Can't really say that about msfs
eh, I've been pretty pleased with most aircraft I have for msfs
Well in MSFS definitely not all the stuff is worth buying
Mscenery exists
But when you know what's good and what's not, you'll mostly pay reasonably for what you're getting
Also Bredock
tbf even the LatinVFR 321neo that I paid money for was alright albeit with the horizon mod, but I get the appeal for people who don't necessarily want to splurge their entire bank account on the PMDG or Fenix suite of aircraft
yea but not everyone has £50 do they
as long as people just read into what they're getting, too many posts from people that don't read into shit then complain ''x, y, z'' isn't ''study-level''
when the fuck did I mention the salty 747
Uh

Anyway
Salty 747-8 isn't study level but I still enjoy it
Hell even most default planes of anything
eh, I still fly the FBW 32NX every once in a while
I held out with P3D till the PMDG 777s eventually released for MSFS, still have P3D installed for the Concorde & the 744/748s
How is P3D anyway?
if you have the patience & money to set it up to your liking, its alright
I've actually played it twice but not exactly on my PC..
Basically one of those in person flight sims
It looked like fsx but it wasn't bad per say
barring any usual ''P3D is dead'' comment from all the washed up flightsimmers, its a decent sim
just don't go buy it & then expect everything to work 100%, its a fickle beast that needs some tweaking to work well
it has the aircraft I wanna fly, so it'll stay on my PC till the MSFS versions will eventually release
(So roughly for 10-12 more years)
I installed a livery for the PMDG 744 wrong once and had to reinstall my whole sim
very sad times
V4 was my last P3D but I barely touched it
I installed alot of scenery way too fast & my add-on.cfg file had gone chinese so I too had to nuke my sim & start over & that was V5
Off to LAX
Wish we had Combis ngl
I wonder if TFDi will ever make them as some kind of expansion
Okay I'll need to buy a proper payware Malpensa cause this is an extremely pretty departure
i think its a good idea personally
depending on what its gonna include it might make more sense subbing to this than buying each inndvidual scenery itself
if its only some random airports from not really known devs its kinda shitty
i get the hate, subs shouldnt be the norm
but in a hobby like flight sim, it makes sense
purchase all major airports and youre in the 400-500s price wise easily
not everyone can afford it
Yeah
I mean, on average a high quality airport is $15-20
Just 20 airports and you're $400 already
And 20 airports isn't much
ini has finally unghosted me @rustic charm
Unfortunately that's as far as I'm comfortable saying in a public space
Please don't try to extract anything from this, it really doesn't mean anything beyond they have now answered to my electronic written communication
Nice, well at least you have a reply now XD
Ini are odd
They asked for my address to send me a bunch of merch a while back, for no reason I could identify
When I confirmed that it arrived, they asked me to post about it on social media
I then got another email later on telling me to ignore that request because it was just an intern being too keen with the social media engagement
I told them I didn't have any social media and never heard back
Nice mug though, makes a sports direct mug feel small
I didn't complain, but the whole experience was odd and they never did explain why they sent it
That's fun
"Hey, have this"
I did ask but they dodged the question
Maybe I was one of the "top customers" that year or something
I did buy plenty of payware that year
Tbh I'd be quite surprised and would like an explanation in that case too
Yeah, I thought it was a scam email at first when they wanted my address
I want to see the mug now
That's a big mug
The thing underneath is a t-shirt
Also do they sell merch on their website, I've not actually noticed it ever
XL
They never asked for my size either
They just guessed, it's a bit baggy on me
What did udo

We are delighted to announce that DCS: C-130J is now available. Developed by Airplane Simulation Company, it brings one of the world’s widely used tactical air lifters into DCS as a fully fledged, deeply simulated module.
DCS e-shop: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/c-130j/
DCS on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/a...
Ok...?
I can't be the only one that saw it coming
tried to be icelandair of alaska
such a cool trailer icl 😭
If it were for MSFS or X-Plane I'd snap it up
I am sure it is a labour of love
It’s just kind of funny, they spent all that time and effort with the legal battle over the northern pacific name with BNSF, and then they decided to go with a fleet of 757s (where only 2 airlines have them flying still), and they still couldn’t make it
I feel like unless you start with like 10 planes you aren't gonna make it as an airline
That just seams to be the case now
Not even, spirit couldn’t even make it
I mean true
Well tbf more 757s are still flying
They are of course less efficient than A321LRs
But with A321LRs it's a long queue
Meanwhile 757s have high range, are still more efficient than trijets and quadjets or even widebodies, and they probably have plenty of spare parts
How many factories does Airbus have?
I think there are 4 final assembly points for A320s
Toulouse, Hamburg, Mobile, Tianjin
Only two airlines have heavy maintenance shops for them though, if a 757 needs heavy maintenance then it’s going to have to be contracted out to a specialty shop elsewhere
They’re old, and Boeing has moved on two generations of aircraft since the 757, so parts and qualified maintenance personnel aren’t as plentiful
I'm gonna guess delta and united
Delta and UPS, I don’t know if United still has any flying
FedEx might or might not have 757s too
It’s funny, I finally dove into the world of P3D the other night and I had no idea it came with a bunch of branded Lockheed Martin aircraft, so I was just playing around with the C-130
Well Delta and United surely maintain theirs themselves, but I'm sure so do UPS and FedEx. Also there are 757s flying with some Chinese cargo airlines, they certainly aren't sent to the US for maintenance, so there must be a base in Asia as well. And then there's Azur in Russia who maintains theirs too, so a maintenance facility exists, although inaccessible to any non-Russian aircraft
Fair enough, I misremembered how many were still flying
I think I got mixed up with Delta and UPS sharing maintenance for their 757s
Not that long ago they announced a partnership for 757 maintenance stuffs
Only for PW2000s though
Oh btw, DHL also still has 757s in Europe, and so des Swiftair. Although not too many
Then you have Cargojet in Canada with a fair fleet that I think they don't yet even plan to retire
Ab yeah I saw a cargo one flying over my house one time
You mean this?
Yes, that's Cargojet
I'm definitely gonna have to buy CYHM once Bluebird releases the freighters
I had no idea that so many were flying still
It's a good plane
I was looking at the qualitywings 757 for P3D, it’s like $15, looks alright too
The MD-11 just became the plane with the most hours for me
A total of 237 hours 36 minutes
Beating the 777s by 29 minutes
Welcome to the club
It’s very addicting to fly, it looks like an old airliner but it flies like a modern one, makes for cool screenshots without being too difficult to fly

Lufthansa still does
Swiss and Edelweiss as well I think
Plus Mahan and Kam Air
South African probably?
Azerbaijan Airlines have a couple in the fleet but I don't think they use them anymore
Conviasa flies them
Yeah, it's not difficult for sure
It's certainly unique, gotta get a bit used to the way it handles
But it's not too difficult to fly
Easier to deal with it than with a DC-6
Plus what helps is that the MD-11 is fully RNAV-capable, flying without having to jump VORs is much easier
Although in some cases a bit less enjoyable I'd say
There's almost nothing I've done that was more fun than jumping VOR to VOR across the US and Canada, from Seattle to the east coast, mostly Halifax
oh shit, i had no idea that the TFDi MD-11 actually had a P3D version, and it comes with the MSFS purchase
i thought they only did the 717 for P3D
Yeah both are available
The P3D version I think won't get the visual upgrade that they're currently working on
But it will get the other parts of the big update
The 'extended simulation package', etc
Can confirm Mahan still fly 340-600s, one just took off right over my head while I'm on the way to OMSJ for my flight
In fact that might've been a -300 even
Might be literally the most modern plane on Mahan's fleet lol
actually saying that I think the RJs are newer
Tad snowy
De-icing not req
Welp, just boarded my flight here
Definitely no de-icing needed for a flight from Sharjah to Doha XD
Bit cramped but could be worse
Worst conditions ive landed in istg
the child
wut airline did u fly
Airbus update on A320 Family precautionary fleet action
➡️ https://t.co/Rf1J0atSi3
Oh boy
Oh I realised I didn't send any pictures lol
It was Air Arabia
hell yeah, i was playing around with moving some aircraft over from FSX to P3D, and i followed that guide on how to upgrade the DC-10 for v5, and its so fucking awesome now
the virtavia C17/B24/B29 all work fantastic without any modifications too
Is that one of my favourite plane-livery combo of all time
oh lcc
the one thing that bugs the shit out of me is that FSrealWX in P3D is very literal with its visibility, if the METAR says 10SM of visibility, it sets it to 10SM, so it always looks so foggy
well as long as it wasnt too bad
the only workaround that ive found is setting the weather to update super infrequently, and then once it loads you manually change the visibility to what it should be
EGSS 290650Z AUTO 18013KT 9999 OVC014 10/09 Q1002
now its raining, the METAR just says its low overcast clouds
so I've completely given up on buying a plane and I'm just gonna buy xplane 12
why
i mean u can get the same in msfs
yeah but I need 2024
the default xplane airbusses are not very good
same aircraft
the xworks thing
my personal experience crashing over the pacific
its ergh
like ngc said
its the same aircraft
with a diff body
the weight to thrust ratio is off and not like the real a340
it flies like an a330
msfs24 first and then ini a340-300/a350
they're good
the default ini a330 is okay, it's free after all
atleast for me 2024 improved performance massively
anyway plen
i should fly abit
just 12 and a half hours to go...
using orthos in P3D looks really awesome from a distance, but then you got to an airport and its just flat and empty
vs autogen stuff
Lmao
youre gonna have to fix your ortho tress boss
Xplane mobile ah scenery
the actual flying experience and everything in P3D is so fucking good, but then when it comes to the airports, its so painful
payware airports look fantastic, but then the default airports and new afcads look like microsoft flight sim 1982
at least the new afcads are realistic operationally
yeah, but even the autogen scenery looks pretty great, and then you go to the airports and its just flat green and the same 5 buildings
Do you want the -100 or -400 first
-400
i have the -200 in xplane
which is similiar to the -100
i personally dont care for the -8i
Well on the bright side it haven't fried itself yet
That whole airbus thing ended up not being that big of a deal as far as grounding the aircraft goes
American and Delta already had most of their fleet updated before the EASA airworthiness directive went into effect, and United didn’t even have to update any of their Airbus fleet
Though I heard that some non-US airlines have been really struggling hard to get things sorted out
A friend of mine told me that around 900 older Airbuses will be grounded until their computers are replaced, sounds like a rather big deal to me
am I the only one that tail strikes the 787 on almost every takeoff?
TV news said that about 50 planes of the ITA fleet are affected
holy shit that's the biggest group flight ever
the computers don't need replacing
its a software change from what I've been told
it swiches the ELAC to Alt Law and displays an error message as opposed to continuing as if nothing has happened
a lot of carriers aren't affected
Most likely only russian airbuses if anything
ofc
im there for a day
for feb idk until jan
maybe we're lucky
STN-VIE is rare with a 737
F
usually vienna based 320's
lauda air probs then
gole TNCM rotation
i have figured out that FSX AFCAD files are not compatible with P3Dv5 without a massive amount of work
i dont really get it, do people just use the default garabge P3D airports? how do you even fly when you dont even know if the airport you're flying to is just a runway with no parking
at least with FSX there was a TON of AFCAD fixes and stuff, so you could at least find something that might be somewhat useable
the worst part is that I want to do a flight out of KCHS, but the military ramp has no parking at all, so wtf am i meant to do
Just spawn on runway?
I don’t know what the P3D airport meta is
U dont fly there at all
Or u slew to the parking position
Welcome to p3d
I guess doing pax ops is a lot easier to do default airports, because at the very least it’s going to have passenger parking stands
Cargo and military are not designed for default airports
Navigraph have a free ppl type course. No sub required, just a free account, has lessons and exams. Yes most here should know it, and some of it is kiddy basic, but always good to brush up on the basics. MSFS only though
got a steal of a deal
130euro return business class on a 3 hour flight
actually baller
I should have seen this coming
Felis
Wirhout a doubt
What in the fuck
What is that
Like it's what I was talking about yes but how is it used
It’s an FMC
But
It’s a very old one
Only Waypoint navigation no vnav
You need to manually enter everything as well no FMS plans or DLink
LTN stands for laser something or other it’s cool but reasonably inaccurate compared to IRS systems
Apparently it's Litton not laser
Or no
I don't think LTN actually stands for anything
My source for that was lockheed martin btw
It's basically CIV-A INS but instead of entering coordinates you can enter waypoint names
777s are so pretty ngl
Saw one during the weekend too 😎
Wasn't expecting it so only a shit video though 😭
Considering the aerosoft CRJ
oh, flightsimdispatch died
oh, theyre back, i was just looking at the wrong URL
i was confused why it was saying it couldnt connect, i thought it was temporary
i feel like im going insane, am i too used to good visibility, or is this normal for clear conditions???
i guess it is true, the METAR reports 10SM, the game says 20 miles of visibility, and then i can visually see the airport around 20 miles
the ltn is great
WHAT DO YOU MEAN 9999M VISIBILITY WITH FEW CLOUDS
Are you sure they didn't mean 99.99 cm
On the bright side your enemies won't see ya coming
If you're right below or above the cloud you'll have 10km of visibility
It was like that all the way to the ground
Using the free trial of FSrealWX, I am not impressed
I don’t know if active sky is any better
I'm gonna try VOR flying in the 720
this is not gonna go well
now
how the hell do I find VOR's
Welp, I'm in Doha Hamad Airport
And I have just under 6 hours until my flight departs
is there a way to see VOR's on volanta?
Yep, there's a menu you can open on the right and import navdata
It has waypoints, VOR/NDBs, airways
it lagged my PC when I loaded it lmao
I feel like something is missing
Nah, looks alright to me
beauty
why did u go 6 hours early lmao
Well
I kinda mixed up the departure times
And I was really certain I booked the 15:40 flight to Sharjah
While in reality I booken the 18:35 one
Plus tbf, I had to check out of the hotel by 12, so even if I remembered I booked the one in the evening I would get here only an hour later than I did
Ngl, so annoying when you try to take a picture of the plen but get a reflection of the airport interior on the glass...
Saw some 777s now
Probably gonna fly on a Qatar triple soon enough as well
i was thinking of flying qatar
but it didnt make much of a difference and their flight times kinda sucked
Yeah, that's fair
For me it just might be the cheapest option
If not Qatar, then probably Emirates
Gonna have to go from Bangkok to any of the airports around Dubai
So options are either a direct with Emirates, a direct with Air Arabia (which I think was more expensive than Emirates when I checked) or a Bangkok - Doha - Sharjah flight with Qatar
Also me being me, I did take a look at potential Drukair flights with a connection at Paro. That is in fact possible to do, Bangkok - Paro - Dubai, but much more expensive
emirates is great
Well of course it is XD
But Qatar is supposed to be the greatest
plus tbf, if it does end up cheaper, I'll take it. If Emirates is cheaper, I'll take Emirates
Nope, not yet
Tbh with me being in Dubai, Etihad is the worst middle eastern options
They don't have any flights to Dubai for obvious reasons
And taxi from Abu Dhabi to Dubai is very expensive
Kinda, yeah
I still consider my home to be Moscow of course
yeah thats what i remembered
For flights to/from Moscow, generally Russian airlines will be cheaper anyway
For long hauls I'm always on Aeroflot
For shorter flights can sometimes go for Pobeda or Rossiya cause they're cheaper
I do want to try flying Etihad at some point, tbh I'm happy to try any new airline. But of course, price is important
But also, of course all of my experience is economy, if I write any review here it's economy. I'm not a millionaire
mood
emirates does give really good deals for business class though
i was offered business for 450 euros (one way) NRT-DXB
That does sound nice
Etihad, Qatar, Emirates
Emirates is ridiculously overrated for the product compared to the other two
They are all Instagram airlines made to look good in the end tho but Etihad are the best of all 3
I flew Gulf air once and that was excellent
Better than all of them
Same as air Astana
Way way way better than anything in the Middle East
Oh yeah I've had people praise Air Astana a lot
Tbh I would say the carriers here are overrated
They cost a lot
And really Emirates and Qatar seem to be all about business/first class
Which seems good but still overpriced
Plus tbh both airlines at this point are just about showing off
Welp, I'm boarding
And my main memory of Doha Hamad Airport?
Paying $5 for a 0.35L sprite
That's outrageous
i wanna try them
they actually seem good
i had the option to try out mongolian airlines on FRA-UBN-NRT
im sad i didnt
Gold standard on A321neoLR’s
Genuinely amazing airline
Almaty’s new terminal as well helps a lot
Old one was shit
Beautiful city as well
its expensive though
well 'expensive' but about the same price for a direct flight i believe
maybe ill find a reason to fly there tho
You can find some decent deals sometimes
I’ve never transferred through Almaty or Astana
Only flown direct
cant be worse than china
most terrible immigration experience i've had thus far
and i've flown and transited through alot of places 💀
Oh nahhh it’s easy af
It’s 30 days for most citizens and they don’t even require biometrics
Took me 5 min in Astana same on the way out
They get really confused by crew stamps 😂😂😂
oh yeah ur passport must be full af
Half of them are rejected exit/entry from flights that just didn’t happen
I have a Schengen exit and entry stamp from FMM-PMI 😂😂😂
i always wondered if u get a extra passport or something
because ur pages must fill up quick asf
Nah I have a 50 page one and I still have like 30 left
It’s from 2022 as well so it’s not new
The EU will hopefully be using Airport Crew ID’s and the biometrics on them as a valid ID from the UK soon
I can already use it in Australia and NZ as a valid entry card if Ryanair starts flying there
Still need the passport of they ask but it’s not the only way to get in anymore
stormy af
I also have an Ireland Stamp in a British passport
Shouldn’t really be possible but I have one lmao
Had an Austrian border agent ask me how the fuck
the a350 runs brilliantly in fs2024 im suprised
better than the fenix for me somehow
do u still go thru manned gates?
I might be out of my mind
I'm flying a boeing 720 on vatsim
and it's actually working
why
it just turned to the right randomly, trying to fix it using direct didnt work either, i had to go into heading mode and manually correct the course back onto the nav path
What is that a crj?
yeah, the aerosoft one
crj is fun to fly wym
I mean correcting the course
At least it was easier than my Boeing 720 flight
I had to correct the course like every 5 minutes
To be fair, that was most likely a bug that happened with the FMC, correcting the course is not normal usually
Does anyone know how to start a 707?
I’d imagine it’s similar to the 742
Are you using that Michael Wilson 707?
I’ve had that downloaded for a while but never got around to giving it a shot, I’m curious on how it compares to the captainsim one
I have no idea if the captainsim 707 works in P3Dv5 too, i hope it does but I haven’t tried, and I haven’t heard of anyone else trying either
The Virtavia aircraft ported over perfectly, so I’m curious on how far that goes
its funny, that 717 left me so dissapointed that it ruined everything else captainsim for me, even though their older products are pretty alright
Done with the training missions, finally get to hand fly - they are all about the very capable AP\AT but she is fairly nice to handfly
my cat wants to say something in this channel i guess, she keeps hitting the enter key while i try to type
I'm asking because I want to know how to start the 720 which is the exact same as the 707
It's just lighter 707-120
Tbh the 707 shouldn't be too difficult to start
I've not actually tried a 707 but I did fly the 727 a fair bit and they should have almost the same cockpit
First get GPU connected and enable it on the FE panel, then start the APU (back wall near the FE seat if the 727 is anything to go off of), switch the source to the APU on the FE panel. Packs off, APU air on. For each engine, engine start switche (overhead panel) to ground, then fuel cutoffs to on
Really quite standard startup
Then by all means let it
^^ this
Descending towards Las Vegas
Unfortunately I don't have the FlyTampa airport & city, so sadly have to endure default

Does ANA do shot hops in Asia with the 787?
do the classic
RJTT-RJCC
ana operates all their fleet on that route
unironically
or RJTT-RJOO
I'd check flight radar but that's kinda down right now
if u want abit longer
RJTT-ROAH
they're all flown with 737s, 787s, 777s
or A359, 787, 767 for JAL
stormy out of london
What airac cylce is xplane 11 on?
This has to be the most random flight I've ever seen
omg Enola Gay
its so cruel that the B-29 has the tendency to yaw right, but there is no rudder trim, so the entire time you're flying you have to be on the rudder pretty hard
finally got around to removing one of the aircraft in the formation so I had a spot to go
the only issue is that it's all technically 1 aircraft, so when the formation turns, the left side suddenly gains like 20kts, and the right side suddenly loses 20kts, so it instantly throws you out for formation and you have to re-group again
pretty fun flier, had no problems doing an RNAV approach too
i actually forgot to arm thrust reversers, but i managed to stop using speedbrake and manual braking
not only that, i actually managed to make the mid-runway turnoff too
Simbrief always seems to underestimate fuel numbers, but I have never run out yet
I always round up the fuel number simbrief gives
I usually find the dedicated aircraft profiles to be alright, otherwise I just load up an extra 3 tonnes & let it be that
I've almost run out of fuel once but that was more on me for running the engines at almost full power
And that's it actually
No simbrief just miscalculated it
I cross check the FOB and ZFW b4 engine start
It lined up
Maybe winds changed or something
I really dont know
That livery is beautiful
Usually until Friday the 5th
Then another sale for Boxing Day
the good livery
Same with the MD-11, American was a large reason why
And the funniest part
I've only done 1 flight for American in the MD-11, a delivery. And 0 flights for American in the 772
bruh
Though with the 772 it's mostly because I've barely flown it overall
I think just 3 flights?
A delivery to BA, KPAE - EGLL - EGKK
And a delivery to Aeroflot
i found a real liking in this livery lately
While the MD-11 is my most-flown type... 65 hours on it with Aeroflot Cargo, 55 hours on it with Thai (only 3 revenue flights though... I delivered it to Bankok, did VTBD - VHHX - YSSY - VTBD, and had to retire it right afterwards)
Oh yeah, looks cool
i love the md11 so much
its too bad its also not out for 2024 yet
plane was way ahead of its time
even now its as modern as an a350
Ngl I do love it too
It has so many cool features
Like how you can completely switch to metres
I don't think other planes do that
nope
You can make a 777 display the altitude in metres, but the altitude you set in the MCP will still be feet
Meanwhile the MD-11 switches fully, so you can be exactly at the assigned altitude
Also its ability to step all by itself
In any other airliner you have to initiate the step climbs manually
In the MD-11? You program them before the flight, select your final altitude on the MCP and it does everything for you
And so many cool liveries on the MD-11 too
I really liked the old Thai livery for some reason, such a shame I had to retire it. Gonna have to deliver another reg
Old American. Old Varig. Old FedEx
I prefer to forget...
back when star alliance was actually good
old liveries were just so much better in 90% of the cases
yes
good livery
For now quite a lot are locked from me cause of the PWs, but once those are out (and I think they'll be relatively soon), add Delta Widget, Swiss, LTU...
Also, I like JAT but I'm angry that they cancelled their MD-11s
I'm pretty sure they had a couple on order
But never actually got them
Also, once PWs are out... Aer Lingus
They had 1 MD-11 on lease from World Airways, but they did actually paint it into their livery
I think January - February
Now this is proper
Also
I somehow broke the engine sounds lol
Today and yesterday I was doing a bunch of stuff in the files trying to make a 777-200 non-ER
And looks like something that I did ended up completely removing the engine sounds from this thing
10/10 livery
do u just hear inside sounds now
I don't hear any engine sounds
Inside the cockpit it's only the cockpit sounds
Switches, warnings, callouts are fine
Outside of the cockpit it's just the wind
Is that a smile
Where are you flying?
Oh Beijing Capital...
smug
dead airport
closed shops everywhere
barely any food places
couldnt even go to kfc because i didnt have alipay or wechat pay
Isn't that the airport with a lot of orange
Actually wait, I'm thinking of Beijing Daxing
thankfully i have not been to daxing
simplyaviation descrbied the airport well
Daxing meanwhile is built for pretty, not for useable
'it's a very modern airport but it just feels empty, lacks character, especially at night, everythings closed, which is weird for an intl airport'
Also stuff being closed is really weird indeed
I was thinking of the right one
TWO immigration lines for the entire airport
