#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)

shes flies good though
the flight model is actually really nice
of course i dont know how its compared to rl
but i think its just right
it doesnt feel too heavy/sluggish like the a380 or a350
it feels quite light for an a340
It looks to be the same as the default A330
Or very close to it
From what Emmanuel has shown so far
Uh oh, I've not heard all that much good stuff about the default 330
I saw one fly over in real life today, they sound weird as fuck IRL too
its just 4 APUs trying to get a widebody to fly
my parents must have volanta or something, because its uncanny how accurately they know when to finish dinner right when i takeoff or right when i go to land
even if i dont finish the flight, its all about the practice
sort of related, in mexico there is a genre of music called "narcocorrido" which translates to drug ballad, and its usually about drug smuggling and trafficking, and the 727 was so popular in the mexican drug trafficking that there is a narcocorrido about it

its unironically a banger
every time i fly the 727, i have to listen to it enroute at least once
its a day that ends in Y, im flying the B-17
i found out that you have to disable accu-sim to get it to play nicely with replays as well
This doesn’t surprise me one bit
I mean the FJS 727 is very good
But in 2020 there was no cabin model
I remember the price being like £50 as well
So not even cheap
No shock to me that he won’t be finishing either and porting them to xp12
huh, i didn't know that iris made all of their FSX aircraft free
the warthog is actually pretty great, definitely on-par with the DCS one (technically even better, because it has interactive switches, where the DCS one doesnt)
definitely going to play around with it a bit
id be interested in trying out their F-14 and doing some carrier landings and general top gun garbage, but im not too familiar with the systems in the first place, im at least somewhat familiar with the A-10
Tbf it’s 4 CFMs, same ones that power the A320 iirc
They just feel like 4 APUs due to the plane’s size
It’s not like it’s powered by low-bypass fans or whatever
Looking at this guy
Wish we had one
I assume you mean the A-10A because the DCS A-10C definitely has interactive switches
There's no way the flight model is as good
Is that the il-86 or the 96?
That’s an 86
Yeah, both are A-10As
The only widebody airliner in the world powered by low bypass turbofans
Yeah they're cool as hell
Obviously I’m not a pilot, nor a fighter pilot, nor an A-10 pilot, but from my experience in DCS, the flight model feels pretty good
Definitely better than the MSFS one from Deimos, that’s absolutely certain
DCS one is definitely better, but the iris one isn’t far behind tbh
I’m still pissed about the ED/razbam situation, I’ve been a little interested in getting back into the sim again recently
Fair enough 😅
I haven't played BMS but DCS can't be beaten in terms of FM unfortunately
I don't even do combat
all my flying in DCS is just formation and "free flight"
I mean all Deimos aircraft are shit, not surprised that's better, probably most FS9 planes are better than Deimos' pieces of shit
Agree
Ngl
Il-86s are super fun due to just how underpowered they are
And they also used to fly to interesting places
For example Tivat
I don't think any European airlines ever flew widebodies there, meanwhile Russian carriers used to send A310s (only S7 though), Il-86s & 96s, 767s
My favorite part of the Deimos A-10 is the Boeing 747 MCDU
Welcome to the club
Now i don't gotta get jumped when talking bout FS24
Also which variant did you get=
?*
it's still shit
I only switched for the L-1011
it runs much worse at comparable graphics settings compared to 2020 on my machine
If I fly in VR, Xplane11 with AutoOrtho genuinely looks better AND runs better
and yes, Xplane 11
FS20 is much more trash
hard disagree
but let's see if the next SU improves things
I still think FS2024 as a whole was a mistake and shouldn't have happened 😄
The download/updates takes forever
wait, you use the streamed stuff in 24?
I downloaded all the planes I use
Yes
Oof
But on FS20 the downloads and updates takes forever
I haven't really noticed a difference
Did SU3 actually add in the downloading feature that was in the betas?
Only thing that's quicker in 24 is the loading time
but having an almost empty Community folder helps 😅
Yes
I'm never going to fly a streamed aircraft.
Speaking of FS24 aircrafts, I tried the Miltech C-17 and holy crap
it's horrible
Now I see why nobody bothered to do liveries for it
Did you rent it?
Nooooooo, that was one of the main reasons I wanted to get the super mega ultra deluxe if I upgraded
No, I initially bought the expensive edition, then got that refunded (because back then the game didn't actually work for me, it would barely launch), a few SUs later I bought the cheap version, but somehow MS didn't correctly remove the entitlement for other other version
It seemed like the only C-17 with a proper MCDU and everything
Because I'm an idiot I would normally remove that stuff manually, but this time because of all the pain and grief FS24 caused to me I've decided to see it as a generous gift from Microsoft
The Virtavia one in FSX is completely busted and wrong, and the freeware one in MSFS uses a civilian GPS (which works nicely, but far from accurate)
Atleast there is a heavy airlift wing livery for it https://sv.flightsim.to/file/98208/miltech-boeing-c17-globemaster-iii-sac-heavy-airlift-wing
✓ Miltech Boeing C17 Globemaster III SAC Heavy Airlift Wing är en Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020-mod som skapats av Crispy136. This add-on provides a repaint of the Miltech Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, representing the SAC Heavy Airlift Wing based at Pápa Air Base in Hungary. The livery features 4k textures...
It's the only and only USAF livery for it
which is quite telling
especially when you consider that there are a lot more liveries for the free one
HUD is wack, velocity vector is just a random indicator that doesn't really mean anything, the autopilot is buggy and EXTREMELY basic (only navigation modes are: Route, Approach and Heading), only vertical modes are Pitch and V/S, very limited (if at all existent?) TACAN support, flight dynamics seem decent, but they're a bit weird, especially the FBW system
the SkySim DC-9 has a more capable autopilot
also if you go through the manual you'll see that loads of things are INOP, or not modelled
for me the bad Velocity Vector and FD/Autoflight system is enough to put me off so I won't really go further
Ah well, at least looking back on it, that and the dreamlifter were the only thing in the premium deluxe that I was interested in
The standard includes the beluga, the new A-10, and the A321
The dreamlift i've heard is heavily buggy
Oh they're both terrible, I won't even try the Dreamlifter
Don't forget the A400m
I mean… what isn’t in 2024?
2024 defenders are all like, “you just saw the reviews from early on, it’s gotten much better”, yet I seriously can’t name a single positive review of 2024 outside of “it works the same as 2020”
the new lighting is quite nice
The Cessna 172 :P
I always hated 2020's lighting and colours, 2024 is much better
that's the only improvement I saw
everything else is worse than 2020 from my experience
oh wait actually that's not true, suspension and ground handling seems better as well in 2024.
At least for me, Rex atmos fixes that pretty well
Yes, but I'm not paying for better sky colours
I’ve heavily been considering buying game pass to get 2024 to try out the microprose B-17, but I don’t know if I want to do the entire process of migrating sims just to go to a subscription version via Xbox when I’ll probably end up going steam when I permanently buy it
2024 didn’t even go on sale during the Steam autumn sale too
Definitely just FOMO with the B-17 though, it’s undoubtedly going to be pretty rough on release
It’s funny watching DCS/war thunder dogfight tactics videos, every move has a name like chess moves, vs CAS in the A-10 is just ground pounding at anything that moves
Standard
Expensive enough as it is
And there isn’t really anything that interests me in premium or deluxe
I mean, I bought the thing for the A343
DCS models flight really well, but only in perfect conditions - turbulence and wind in the game are super simplified and it really takes away from the flying when you start noticing it
True, but even then it's still better just because the "baseline" is much higher
I think X-Plane is probably the best of both worlds, wish I had the disk space free to try it
if that makes sense
It does, yeah
I kinda like it
Tomorrow our first Airbus A350 “Lausanne” (HB-IFA) lands in Zurich as LX5359 around 3pm.
Come by Zurich Airport and public spotting areas or watch our YouTube live stream and track the flight on Flightradar24.
https://t.co/tQfUuzeAAJ #flyswiss #HBIFA #AirbusA350
send ur overhead panel
Airbus won the civilian aviation market
What’s really fucking crazy is that the “Boeing 737 family” includes all the way back to the -100 and -200, all the way up to the max
Tbh, I'd more emphasise that Boeing lost
The airbus A320 family is just the A318/319/320/321 plus neo variants
Yes, but don't forget that the demand for aircraft, especially of that size, had risen sharply in the latest years
Airbus sells planes really rapidly
Boeing would've been doing it just as rapidly now if instead of the 737M we got a new 757
True, but Boeing had a 30 year head start as the “name brand” in airliners
But back in the day, there was just no such demand for planes. Even if the A321neo started production in 1960s, it wouldn't have been able to reach so much sales so quickly, simply because there was nobody to sell to
Definitely, and they took advantage of that, but then in one moment they screwed up and lost it all
Like again, my opinion on the matter is quite simple - 737M should've never happened
How many seats was the 737 designed for originally? 100. How many seats do they want from a 737 now? Close to 200. Which Boeing narrowbody was designed specifically for 200 seats and proved to be one of the best and one of the sturdiest planes ever built? The 757-200
Boeing went down the tubes after they bought md
You mean after MD got paid to take over Boeing
Getting rid of the 75, canning their new midsized plane, etc...
It just makes me furious that they chose the 737 over 757 for their next gen narrowbody. The 757 is essentially the A321XLR, just needs some optimising
Like come on, at the very least look at what we copied from you. Did Tupolev build a 737 ripoff? No. Did Tupolev build a 757 ripoff? YES, TWICE
Yes we're cheap and we flushed our whole civil aviation sector down the drain after 1992 but we're not stupid, we copied it because it's good
757 MAX 3 would be crazy
Honestly, idk if Boeing even has any chance to retake the market they lost. I'd even say most likely not, it's all just too bad
They really need to come up with a new mid-sized plane, to replace the 737 max and actually compete with Airbus, but they can't do that anymore. They don't have the budget to build a brand new plane now
boeing makes most money from the gov anyway iirc
so its not like they're too dependant on it
I mean, the 757 is really the only possible option to try. If they dig up the blueprints and work from there, there's at least a slight chance of success. Although even then, Airbus will remain dominant, while Boeing will be secondary
feeling confident enough for a longhaul flight with this
Yeah, but they lose a lot of it too
ofc
NEAT
I'm setting up for a delivery right now, Toulouse to Zurich
Gotta say
It's gonna take some time getting used to 2024
I just use a 2020 preset
I loaded in the first time
Nothing worked
So I went into the settings and found that there is a preset with 2020 defaults lol
bruh if only i knew
too late now
@reef isle did u hear
flyjsim abandoned the 727
its kinda sad but i understand
I don't really mind, I like Xplane 11
Yeah it's a shame to hear
to be fair, i never really found the flyjsim 732 to be much fun to fly, the VOR tracking was all over the place
i've only done two successful flights in it, and both were a massive struggle to properly track VORs
i try to not jump around aircraft so much, and actually fly the same aircraft a bunch of times in a row, but the B732 is just not that fun to fly compared to really anything else
I really liked the FJS732
Didn’t really use it for VOR nav only INS and FMC flights
I was looking forward to the XP12 port with the Q4XP FMC in it to get some weird Europe hops done
I just don’t trust them anymore
The Q4XP is by far the best Q400 currently available in any sim and I think that’s all that’s keeping them alive atm
(Don’t get mad the majestic is like 15 years old now)
the pain of finishing preflight before the IRS aligns
the "taxi down the runway" of shame
the fun and interesting part about flying FSX is that even custom airport scenery is stuck in like 2016
though, mistaking the wrong taxiways happens way, way, way more than it should IRL, so im not too concerned
All pilots are autistic so it should be pretty easy for them to read a map you would think
It’s usually the ADHD ATC who fuck up the instructions
there are also some airports with pretty shitty designs
my plan was to take red, but i took blue on accident, because the taxiway is still shown as open in FSX
probably one of the reasons why it ended up being closed tbh
i suck so bad at reading taxiway signs too
its interesting that theyre going with an MCDU first
apparently programming the CIVA unit and the gauges was the biggest holdup
apparently the fix is disabling unused scenery, turning down autogen, and some other settings
whatever, itll give me the opportunity to fix my shitty taxi out of SFO
im playing around with the iris A-10 some more too, and it is pretty perfect as far as systems go
i figured out how to align the IRS, and everything functions as it should
systems-wise, absolutely spot on to the DCS version, but physics-wise i really cant say, except that it does feel good to me at least
the stick feels a little bit twitchy compared to DCS, but i also had my joystick curves dialed in pretty good in DCS
Certainly gotta buy some hardware
Thinking honeycomb bravo for throttles and separately either the thrustmaster or the winwing sidestick
The majestic
Amazing plane
Not many will know the struggle of forgetting the gear pin
Quickly re land, stop the engines, remove it and then come back in 😭😭😭
The Bravo is highly recommended. love my one
Note taken
Tbh
I was kinda set on it anyway
I really like how many custom levers some people make
I just don’t quite know what to take for the stick, either winwing or thrustmaster (I want a proper airliner sidestick, not one of the military things since I don’t like military flying)
Winwing
Note taken too
The sidesticks are iirc pretty much the same price too, so if winwing is better, it's not a hard pick
Take command of the legendary Flying Fortress in B-17: The Queen, now available in Early Access for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Experience the thrill and challenge of piloting one of WWII’s most iconic bombers — from startup and taxi to formation flying and long-range missions across Europe.
This first Early Access release introduces ...
:(
the A-10C is on sale for $30 off too, but of course im BROKE
i can get the free trial again starting december though, so that's fun
im kind of interested in the WW2 stuff for DCS too, its not quite flying the B-17, but downing B-17s in a Fw190 over france sounds really fun
ive heard there's a mod that makes the B-17 flyable in DCS too, but just no detailed or interactive cockpit
rate my landing guys
The DCS ww2 is kinda half arsed. I prefer IL2 for ww2 stuff
personally, im a lot more comfortable with DCS' mission editor, and i feel like i could do a lot more with it than IL2
The DCS WW2 aircraft are very well made, fly exceptionally well and sound great, although they are mostly abandoned and get an update once every few years. However, the sad thing is that they're trapped in DCS WW2.
- The planeset doesn't make any sort of coherent sense, with Spitfires from 1942 and Axis fighters from late 1944.
- The AI is dumb as rocks, and there are far too few AI assets (non-flyable aircraft, ships) to make it possible to build a half-interesting mission.
- The interesting ground assets are locked behind a paid asset pack, but going up against these is a nightmare because the ground AI is hyper-accurate and can see through clouds, so you'll be pilot sniped by something that you can't even see.
- The Mosquito, which is one of the latest WW2 aircraft ED have made, is missing a major promised feature and hasn't seen any real movement for several years.
- Multiplayer is pretty much dead. There's at most one server, and it's barely active outside of peak hours where it is rarely full.
Having bought all of the DCS WW2 stuff until the latest half-arsed attempt at an F4U, I would not hesitate to recommend that you run a mile from buying into this ecosystem.
What IL-2 lacks in fidelity, it more than makes up for it in actually making you feel as though you're taking part in the war, where the results of your missions matter, etc.
You cant call it abandoned thats completely unfounded
Sure the pits need updating like the 190 and 109
But there still maintained
IF dcs did il2 damage model oh boy would it be good BUT that whole dcs damage model is tied into one.
What did get me pissy was the ww2 asset pack to have an A.I lancaster but ED removed it
Okay, the last patch any of them received was July 1st:
DCS: Mosquito FB VI by Eaglе Dynamics
Fixed. Undercarriage warning horn sound in improper conditions
Before that, we're talking March 19th:
DCS: Mosquito FB VI by Eagle Dynamics
Added RU localization for lessons. (It’s been done earlier, but not mentioned)
Prior to that, Feb 19th, something a little more "substantial":
DCS: P-47D Thunderbolt by Eagle Dynamics
Fixed. 'Engine Degraded' with WEP usage.
DCS: P-51 Mustang by Eagle Dynamics
Fixed. Landing lamp is covered with non-transparent material.
DCS: WWII Assets pack by Eagle Dynamics
Ju-88A-4 Fixed. Wrong damage visualisation on distanced LODs.
The problem is ED will go by there bug priority high first low last
Right, and WW2 (because so few people play it) is always dead last
They still haven't delivered the promised AI navigator for the Mosquito, it launched 4 years ago and it's barely moved since
Exactly but not abandoned
Okay, not entirely abandoned but it's near as makes little difference
Not talking about missie
I cant find anyone on dcs that can use the mossie navigation
They did actually start working on an updated damage model for the WW2 stuff, which was then later meant to roll out to modern stuff - never went past a first attempt on the WW2 stuff, where it remains
The one reason i brought the mossie
I've used the radio navigation tools once or twice I think, it was good fun - real pain in the arse to do it solo though
Yea i cant solo it but cant find a navigator
But yeah, the lack of a proper coherent planeset and any relevant assets outside of tanks is the killer for me. In a war where a few years made a massive difference in tech, it's not something you can skimp on
tbf I don't love IL-2 either (the great battles series has kinda stagnated a bit, and their direction since Jason left hasn't been great) but I'd definitely recommend it over DCS if you really want to do WW2 stuff
ED should of done the battle of the bulge for there plane set
And added a lightening
yeah 100%
they should have picked a single period and done that
Like the old janes ww2
I think they're trying to start over with the pacific theatre
but apparently the F4U is kinda half-arsed, and there's no Zero (yet) and probably won't be for a long while
Yea not sure where there going with it they should of just done battle of britain already having the maps.....
Imo the dcs world war ii planes are the best versions of those planes available in any filght sim, but if you actually want to use them for anything beyond just puttering around on free flights you're far better off with il2 gb
Both for multi-player and single
I’ve been somewhat interested in IL2, but there is so much fucking shit to sort through to even get started
Like, there’s that ypack mod(?) which adds in heavy bombers and stuff which is literally perfect, but that’s 1946, but you also don’t even need 1946, but it’s also SAS and the fucking zonk mod(?????)
And I’m honestly not even sure the level of AI in IL2, from what I’ve seen it looks like it’s massively focused on multiplayer, which I have no interest in
I’m going to have to do like several hours of research just to know what is what before I even download anything, which is not a fun introduction
PhotoMode in 2024 is the end of me finishing up flights in time
1h flights are suddenly going to take 3h
Especially when you fly with a livery like that
Fuck it, I’m not getting to sleep any time soon, research time
Chatgpt really has its moments, and this is one of them
It could just be straight up lying to me, but it is a great aggregator of just years and years worth of forums posts
that was SO COOL
recorded the approach with SkyDolly, so I think I'll take another milion screenshots later
1946 is really quite old at this point; most people would start with the Great Battles series (no mods really needed), or Cliffs of Dover Blitz (more depth, great damage models, flight models aren't as good though)
When i read JAS i think of the JAS Gripen lmao
Finding FedEx routes out of Kai Tak is so difficult
fixed my performance issues on msfs24
went from medium on 40-50 fps with stutters to ultra on 90 fps
all i had to do was enable auto oc on both gpu and cpu
crazy
PC specs?
32gb ddr5 ram (6000mhz), ryzen 7 7800x3d (oc'd now), rx7800xt and msfs runs on a 4tb m.2 ssd
Forgot to check live weather pre-departure, apparently it's supposed to look like this
if anyone cares
VOR to VOR works in the a340 flawlessly
suprised me that they actually implemented it
yeah... i spent the whole day trying to get ypack working for il2 1946 and it was not worth it
controls are a nightmare, the UI is ancient, airports are missing runways
im losing my shit
its one of those times where it feels like EVERYTHING is broken now
nothing fucking works anymore
why
im going to try BAT instead
its probably going to be equally as garbage, but im trying to salvage literally anything i can out of my purchase
oh wow, ypack is fucking garbage, BAT works significantly better
the learing curve is more like a learning cliff
thank god it was literally $1.90 on a key site
at this point id rather fly fighters in FSX or MSFS, or even DCS honestly
my biggest issue with fighter jet sims is setting up controls, because you have to balance the actual flying controls with the actual fighting controls, and with the B-17 you have double the buttons to manage too
DCS lets you do shift keys, which basically triples the amount of buttons on your controller, but IL2 doesnt let you do that
yeah... i think im going to abandon IL2 and just shift my focus to DCS, because i forgot how awesome the control bindings are
it sucks that there's nothing to shoot at in FSX/MSFS, but honestly i prefer that over having to suffer through using a keyboard for my throttle control
there is
use tacpack
Tactical Combat System & SDK for P3D
idrk if its still a thing for fsx thooo
it used to be for fsx
Randomly just wanted to share this
a little project I've been working on and off (more off than on) for a long time, about 500 lines of code flying this little drone 🙂
once in forward flight it does great circle navigation (I'm planning to add rhumb line very soon) and follows the correct course automatically, it can also just hold a specific heading or bank angle, for vertical navigation I only have Altitude Hold/Vertical Speed and Flight Level Change
I'd like to tweak the control response, but it's been so satisying seeing it take off and going towards where it's supposed to go.
At the moment I'm manually telling it what "A/P Modes" to use, but in the future I'd like to have it so I can just give it a waypoint to reach and for it to do all the flight planning and A/P mode changes autonomously.
99% of all the (terrible
) code was written by hand by me, I haven't really used LLMs at all, and have kept the copy/paste to an absolute minimum (mostly just some boilerplate stuff to get the pitch angle and bank angle using KSP's coordinate system, which I still don't understand at all)
But I need to make it able to land vertically precisely on a predetermined point first 😬
I can't explain why but I almost feel weirdly "proud" of my little virtual plane whenever I can get it to actually work and do what I want
system wise this thing is S tier, s isnt even justifying it
model wise a c and sound wise a d
i mean this is amazing
the cbs acutally work
That's super cool
Welp, I'm about to try ini's 330
Since I'm on a sidequest to deliver as many different planes to Sheremetyevo as possible (10 right now), it'll be an Aeroflot delivery
Well, tbf 9 right now because I have 2 Aeroflto 77Ws there, and they're in essentially the same livery, just one has a decal. I just had to deliver the second one since I did a random flight in it before
I think I can get to 20 different planes in there XD
On another note, how to even install liveries in 2024 lol
Same as 2020
Oh right the community folder will just be in some folder in appdata most likely...
Is there any way to move it on 2024?
Cause on 2020 you of course choose the whole install location
Uhm, thanks I guess? I would've hoped that with an RTX 5070, i9-14900HK and 32 gigabytes of RAM my laptop could meet the minimums at least
Looks like for some reason it's using my intel integrated graphics card lol
Welp perfect, for some reason the liveries on the A332 installed normally, but the A333 ones don't show up
Guess that decides that tonight I'm delivering an A332
did u make sure u switched to the correct model
of the a330
its abit weird the way it works in msfs24
like select your variant first
and then the livery
Yeah
I looked through all of them lol
Also ngl, that model is weird
Cause you can have the same livery on different things for some reason
Like the liveries for the A340 from the iniManager are applicable to all 4 variants of the plane
Right now the liveries for the A332 I installed only apply to RR A332s, but to both the normal and the VIP configuration
classic
pretty sure thats mt rainer
actually there so many mountains along seattle and portland i really dont know
it is evidently extremely important to learn how to recover from a stall in fighter aircraft
becuase you make one wrong move and you're spinning horizontally out of the sky
im trying to use joytokey with il2 so i can bind controller bumpers as shift keys, but for some reason its not working
the actual buttons to keys work, but the bumpers to alt and ctrl doesnt work
this game fucking blows, i figured out how to fix it
and then i have controls bound to the numpad keys (after i cleared out the POV controls, which were already using the numpad keys normally, which i never use POV controls anyway)
so it essentially gives you full DCS button controls with the modifiers being the bumpers, and im sure i could bind stuff like the stick buttons and stuff to keys as well
And time to descend
Can already see Moscow
Light rain, contamination 51-100% up to 2mm, friction coefficient 45%
Simply lovely
Reversers definitely on this time
And this thing doesn't have a landing calculator btw
That's one drawback for sure
I wonder if ini might go on to update their previous planes (like this one) with the new EFB like in the 340. Probably not
Weren't working wipers supposed to be a core thing in FS24
I kinda don't really feel them working
apparently not
i wondered the same thing funnily enough
overnight to kai tak
Beautiful
VOR action
well I have this to compete
oh the screens are CRT rounded like the A340 as well damn
I've never noticed that
hong kong?
yup
I took off from there not too long ago
I've been online for 1:30 so I can't say not to long ago...
I did an oopsie when trying to lineup but it worked out in the end
I wish it wasn't the middle of the night so I could take a screenshot of the plane
bang smack interception
I love chinese altitudes...
kai tak 11 hours later
I'm just gonna ignore it's meant to be night in that shot but cool
Mine looked like this
One coming from the southwest was from Bangkok another from the northeast was from Anchorage
In 6 hours I'll be in Bogota
And from Bogota later onto Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro
Idk where this plane would actually be based
I'm delivering it just to fly between Santos Dumont and Congonhas anyway lol
Can't wait until we have a DC-10 cause apparently Iberia flew those to Santos Dumont and that is absolutely crazy
(And from there they flew DC-10s onto Congonhas as well, but Congonhas isn't as crazy as Santos Dumont)
go to the cool rio airport
with the tiny runway
That's Santos Dumont
yes
Congonhas is cool too though
Also a small runway
And it's in the middle of the city
737M
havent flown it in forever
Ngl I like the NG cockpit more
Is it the Boeing one
yup
when do I contact atc here
alr
that's sad
Well
It's an empty 319
Just over 7 hours in the air according to the plan
I did have to load it almost full too
18.9 tons of fuel and I think the maximum is 19.0?
Those 18.9 include reserves of course, I'm almost over Cuba and I still have 10 tons remaining aboard
ACA A319 at LHR
to me it's less cute and more cool
Although it's not an RJ, I always think of the swiss commercial
I think I agree, I think the more rounded nose planes look "cuter" to me
The A220 being a prime example
True that
Although I wouldn't particularly say the 220 is very rounded
The 320s have a really nice rounded nose
Yes, I think what I meant was rather than round that it has no "steps"? (If that makes sense?) It's just one continuous smooth curve across the whole nose section
Comet, Caravelle would be another two good examples
6:57 flight time, I'm in Bogota
Still had tons of fuel remaining
So yeah, a light 319 can easily do this distance
is that the A350?
yes
that food looks interesting
its not official
doesn't work as well in english, but it's the itsy-bitsy little concorde
also rare occurance of me not flying a long deceased airline (and also managed to find enough time to do a short flight in the morning
)
Welp, time for me to continue on from where I left it
That looks cool
It's the saab?
Flying out of hot & high airports is fun
Took me like 80% of the runway to reach Vr in an almost-empty 319 with less than usual derate
Well tbf not too hot in Bogota right now, just 12 degrees according to the metar
But it being at almost 9k already makes up for that lol
etihads new livery is really nice
I agree
For once an actual livery upgrade and not a downgrade
Almost halfway there
Oh that's neat
Also I'm flying this and realising
I probably could've cut off several hours from this delivery
If I went via Cabo Verde instead of doing it through Keflavik and North America
Fair
An hour to Congonhas
Congonhas here we go
And going around
Scary airport
I like it
Going for a this approach first might've not been the smartest decision either
ILS this time
2 gos, great success
First one was because of a descent rate too high, second one because I floated
Going for a third attempt
I am no longer commenting
Only took 4 attempts
14 hours to sydney
today in IL2 adventures, i figured out how to hand-fly in formation (after fixing the AI speed), and the norden bombsight
functionally, the bomber simulation in IL2 is pretty much identical to the microprose mighty eighth games, so its actually pretty fun
and there doesnt really have to be a ton of changes in the controls too, because bombing is automatic, you just have to line up the bombsight and set the automatic sight, it drops automatically
THIS PLANE DOES GO TO TAHITI
Why are there no nice RDR2 Tahiti gifs
Not even any good ones with "Does this trolley go to Tahiti"
Neat
I really need to fly in South America more
I should do some cubana flights with the 154 from Cuba to there
Let me see if there's anything interesting
Yeah, myself gotta fly there more
But well
Now that I have a Varig MD-11 and a LATAM 319 there, definitely some options
Volanta shows quite well that I've barely flown outside of Europe and North America

need more asia and west africa
cool plane
Not too different
Just Moscow is a big hub lol
That's the testbed for the m-15 right?
Yeahhhhhhh
AN-2 with a jet strapped to the back and an APU
It's so jank I adore it
An-2 the Soviet Cessna 172 except the size of a 208 and a taildragger
Time to descend
And almost resistant to crashing for some reason
Idk what antonov was on when designing that thing but I want some of it
Oh yes, the An-2 is pretty much uncrashable
And when it does crash, most of the time everyone will just walk away from it
If you crash it you're either:
A. Dumb
B. Too high
C. There are way too many clouds for you to see
Or it just doesn't wanna take off, it's not in the mood
You made it sad
is this the A321neo
yes
it's probably one of my favorite aircrafts in the sim
It‘s good
It‘s very good
It‘s as indepth as the CL650 for xplane
The CBs actually work
It flies amazing
The model is abit mid though
nah FSL never give dates, they said ''few weeks'' around the release of the NEO & thats it
we were meant to be getting a small update to sort the LEAPs out too, but I suspect they're gonna be doing a pretty big update eventually
very cool, paused at TOD and now i have no engine noises
flying into italy for the first time, and the first time over the alps
known pmdg bug
that apparently still hasnt been fixed
love it
i guess im landing with noise cancelling headphones on
ive never seen this before, FAC instead of LOC?
final approach course
r u flying a rnav approach maybe
FAC / GP are used for non precision approaches LOC/GS for precision approaches
im on an ILS approach, i dont know why its saying that
weird
outside of the weird naming, its a pretty normal ILS approach so far
Do you have the correct ILS tuned
FAC approaches use the same symbology as ILS approaches
yeah, im on the right runway, on the right glideslope
The first and only time I had FAC is when I forgot to set the correct ILS frequency into Anchorage because I got too used to planes doing it automatically lol
i checked when setting up my approach stuff, correct frequency and course
whatever, landing was good, and not a ryanair navy landing either
Flying a heavy MD-11 is always fun
Is there a decent AN2 for msfs? sadly the xp one is long gone
Way bigger than an 208 lol
AN2’s are way bigger in person than you think
Does just flight do winter sales?
Just landed in Shanghai
Holy based
we're going to have to beat you to death with hammers, sorry!
Honestly I don't think it suits a triple
You mean the astrojet 737?
ye
It's slightly different tbf
But I agree it would've been better on a 737
Tbh if they want to paint a triple into a special livery, I'd suggest choosing something widebodies wore
Imagine a triple in the previous AAL colours
Bare metal is lovely
And it suits widebodies too
Triples wore it, MD-11s wore it, even 747s wore it
Alternatively could paint a triple into a US Airways livery. They didn't wear that one afaik but I think it'd look decent too
i cant believe everybody but me has a dent in their brain
Bet
i feel like im going insane
in FSX, its not possible to take an AI aircraft, and have it fly a route between waypoints
why
I actually agree
Lack of brushed metal makes it look weird
it's not ugly, it's sort of "cursed"
it's 95% like the old one, but it's just a bit off, enough to make me feel a bit uncorfotable
but I really love the idea and I love that the thing will exist
I personally wish they would have gone for this variation instead of the even older one (I think that designed is based off of the DC-3, Connie and DC-4)
but that's beyond nitpicking
Great, I have to reinstall FSX
back to XP11 today 😄
Can anyone explain pls what does RNP (AR) mean
For example RNP 20L (AR)
What does AR stand for
Uh
I think it's altitude reporting, but let me check real quick
Oh good thing I checked
I have no idea where that came from, but it's actually Authorization Required
Ah yeah on that very same document it says that by default all Airbus planes can do RNP, but not RNP-AR
From what I can see on the charts basically I'll just have to go manual a bit earlier, before the final turn
Yeah
Was planning to do it visually anyway, the weather in Rio de Janeiro seems nice
Also I wonder if Drukair's 319s have RNP AR capability, cause while I did fly manually anyway, the flight director in NAV mode was showing the path correctly almost right up to the runway in Paro
The only thing that stopped me from landing in Paro at night was the fact that there were no runway lights. Probably realistic too, that airport has no night operations at all, why would they add runway lights XD
Welp, time to descend
Did the arrival calculations for SBRJ
That is
SCARY
1320m available?
This time I'm genuinely scared
This is a terrifying airport
Honestly
Could flightsim dispatch have the wrong airport for a flight
Or the wrong aircraft
Cause I refuse to believe Iberia flew DC-10s into there
Maybe only if the airport used to be larger
You sure it didn't go to SBGL?
I can believe them going to SBSP, but SBRJ is just too much of a stretch
Yeah pretty sure it's wrong @rustic charm
Does make sense
FSX is going to be the death of me
i spent the entire night last night and the entire day today trying to get FSX set up again, but i couldnt because fsrecorder was broken
how did i fix it? i literally just went into the files and ran every EXE in there
somehow, running every exe in the FSX folder managed to register FSX:SE as boxed FSX, and then it installed FSRecorder
i was really considering just going in deep debt and buying FS2024 and the microprose B-17, because thats honestly the only thing keeping me in FSX
Both are in development, the Caravelle Is the only one you can fly now
Caravelle and comet, can we have in MSFS please please...
Preferably not from aeroplane heaven
my hopes for a comet die more and more
@reef isle do u have any experience using old fsx stuff
e.g?
i expect JF to be good
Their L-1011 is quite mediocre to be honest
A friend of mine that bought it ages ago gave it to me (no idea how)
and yeah, it's not good
og a220
classic airliners seriously are underrepresented
at what altitude does one put the altimeter to standard
transition flight level
look it up on the depature charts or the corresponding ARTCC

what
Altitude -> Flight Level (climbing) = Transition Altitude
Flight Level - > Altitude (descending) = Transition Level
have u tried the
IL62m
the vc looks decent
you heard me
yeah and it was disappointing
regardless you'd follow the countries transition altitude
so as far as I've seen there are 2 IL-62s, one that has good VC but fairly shallow systems and one that has good system but only 2d panels
that's fair
its a never ending fiasco
god damn only 4000 feet in romania?
The IL-86 is also the same, there is one that has a good VC but it only has modelled the "piloting" stuff
so all the navigation, flying, etc... is decent
at this point i might just fly the dc6 again
but everything that the flight engineer would do (electric/hydraulic/air system managment) is missing or extremely simplified
The Tu-144D is probably the best one @trim harbor
but it's very hard to learn and get used to 😬
the tu154 development is also taking a turn it seems
someone is making a dh4 for msfs
my hopes arent gone
and it looks great
also @trim harbor the Transition altitude/level thing was just poking fun, it's a bit of an inside joke to point out when people get it wrong, and making it seems like a huge deal, it's just making fun of the... you know what kind of people
I know what transition level is just I didn't know when the altimeter is put in standard
fair enough, just wanted to spell it out since you know, it's an inside joke from another place that I just brought here
so don't think that I really get upset if you use the wrong term (especially in a case like that where it's really inconsequential)
I like how you can set the slats to 15 with no flaps on the A310
MSFS publisher
Released multiple high quality aircraft
Willing to work with someone else, not just their team
Willing to publish a niche (Even though the 154 is by far the most useful Soviet airliner, it's still old and Soviet, that's still niche) plane
Could the 154 be released with JF
Cause tbh JF are the only ones who I think could agree to do that
I think JF too
JF did publish Soviet planes for older sims too didn't they
Maybe even developed, idk
And they seem to be rather open to publishing other devs' stuff
I actually think it's really good that it's going to be released by an already established dev and will be payware
It might just prove commercial viability of making Soviet/older planes
And with the majority of the modern scene already taken apart, that might just mean someone will do more Soviet afterwards
regarding this, I just realised that I have to divide the calculations for great circle distanze by 10.9 because Kebin's diameter is about 10.9 times smaller than Earth's
if I want to send that to Laythe I need to remember to adjust that
(I will 100% forget)
Get RSS
For accurate sizes plus names
Ksp1 is great
I quite like the Kerbol system, it has its charm
And it allows me to create cool looking spaceplanes that would never ever work with RSS
Maybe after this VTOL project is done (if that ever happens) I'll try the more realistic aerodynamics mod that I'm forgetting the name now, Ferram Aerospace
I was thinking of creating a Yak-141 / F-35B kinda thing with a swiveling main engine and an electric ducted fan in the nose
How much I'd give for a good Yak-141 in any flight simulator 😭
Landed in Novosibirsk
Honestly
The MD-11 is such a good plane
Not talking about TFDi specifically, although imo it's amazing too
But the MD-11 overall
this took more effort than i am willing to admit

Thanks to the team ...
Time to go to the Pacific
And eventually run from Guam to Honolulu, East Asia, etc
Actually flown in central america, did a proper teardrop VOR approach into MGGT during the even (the controller was super cool for accommodating me)
Unfortunately the approach and landing were a bit rubbish because I had terrible FPS, so I just ended in a very low frequency PIO and couldn't really keep a steady descent rate
but it is what it is
I don't get why in Xplane11 in VR sometimes just works flawlessly (always >30/40 FPS) but other times it struggles to get above 10/15, I guess I got unlucky tonight
also Xpilot putting the disconnect alert about 15 cm in front of your face, taking up pretty much your entire lateral FoV, perfectly at your eye level is beyond annoying when you're trying to do a non precision approach in challenging conditions (both weather/high altitude airport AND low FPS)
but the landing was survivable, in the LZ and I didn't overrun, so great success
mcdonalds douglas
first time in ages that im flying with FSLTL traffic too
works well with the MD-80 because its not a laggy aircraft, but i cant imagine using it in the fenix or ifly
i see its a bright and sunny day in seattle
somehow KSEA is reporting VFR conditions though
dont look too close at my configuration, i definitely did not just realize i was flying at 10k when i should have been at 6000
No, don't have XP12
I very nearly bought it when it was on sale
But it's just a small one time payment to the guy's Patreon
Almost at Honolulu
i think i might attempt an RNAV approach
is it basically just all done by hand? like, you set the autopilot to follow the LNAV all the way until the last waypoint, and then from there you adjust course
and then with VNAV you just manually figure out your descent rate for your approach speed?
What plane are you planning to use?
MD-80, i was planning on flying into san diego
Yeah I think LNAV+VNAV would be the way in the MD-80, you can follow VNAV until the final approach point IIRC
Or, you can do it using the appropriate vertical speed for your ground speed from the initial approach fix
Just realised I didn't mean IAF/FAF, you know what I mean
im more confused with just the glide path than the LNAV part, is it literally just setting it manually or is there more to it?
There is no glide path.
If you do it with VNAV it's literally like the calculated descent for any other waypoint, you'll get the very same indications you'd get Enroute, same for LNAV
In the A320 and 737NG you'd get additional symbology, the A350 does some dark magic to make it more ILS-y
really? i always assumed that it was a lot more manual than that
Well, if you want to make it manual you can just do vertical speed, look at your ground speed and then select the closest V/S (according to the diagram on the chart)
Like you would do for a VOR/DME approach
Yeah sure, just be careful because you won't get any vertical deviation shown on the PFD, it will still only be only in the navigation display IIRC
But I haven't done an RNAV approach in the MD80 in ages so I might be misremembering something
thankfully it should be a pretty quick flight, so if i screw it up its not a big loss

im so sad that the A321 + 2ACTs + sharklets doesnt have the same range as the A321neo
i want to do the KBOS-LFPG flight that jetblue does in A321s, but the fenix doesnt have the fuel range
and the only option for an a321neo in 2020 is the LVFR one
which was bearble when the horizon mod worked, but now the horizon mod is broken, and its just not worth even having it take up space on my hard drive
Tbf, while an 11-hour layover is extreme, an ATR is very fun to be on
But I guess what also added to my experience is that I was on an ATR in Africa, it was HTZA to HTAR, maybe that made the plane more fun
Novosibirsk to Tokyo this time
This one's my most-flown MD-11 I think
Actually the Thai one beats it by hours (will change after this flight)
But in terms of flights, it's already the most-flown
Also ngl I like how I'm all over the place with it
Visited UUEE (based there obviously), EFHK, ZSPD, UNNT and soon RJAA, from where I'll go to RKSI and only then make the return to UUEE lol
Btw I saw M'M released Frankfurt Hahn, and these did fly there a fair bit, so the question is, are M'M airports worth it?
it's a 15 hour flight beforehand
and then a 12 hour layover
It'd be worth it to avoid an ATR
Hey, ATRs are fun
My previous laptop's screen started moving slightly side to side after a flight on an ATR
(I still have the laptop and it's working fine, basically my secondary one now, but it's fun how it now isn't totally fixed lol)
thats fine tf
go vienna
lovely city
train is like 5eur return
Tbf Vienna is indeed really nice from what I remember
Wish I could go there again
Overall to Europe tbf
So many places I'd like to visit
That was janky in crosswind but I landed
hell no
i decided against it
lufthansa and ana have a whopping 1500EUR difference in price for the same flights
i dont understand airlines
Oh it's not the worst thing even
When I was looking to book Bali - Dubai via Doha, the Bali - Doha leg stayed absolutely the same, same flight and all, but the price for the same class pretty much doubled when I was looking to connect to DXB compared to what it was while connecting to SHJ
Same airline, same flight, same class, but ticket prices differ depending on where you want to go on the next flight
