#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)

So sad that they decided to bring it to, not only MSFS, but 2024 even
The worst of the worst
africa is the only continent i havent flown over yet
mostly because its fucking massive, and theres not many notable intermediate airports
theres alot of airports
its fun because 90% of them arent modern
africa was the first place i ever had to fly a VOR approach in a 777
i was going to say, there's a lot of airports, but most of them are just a concrete strip
id like to do some more bush flights, but flying GA is a lot harder than flying airliners
hold on
i got just the video for you

hell yeah
dont even need to wait for the ifly -200 version
@runic hare does it remind you of work
Yes
However
This is not a Ryanair config
No row 1BC, 2A extra legroom and a bulkhead at the front row
Also the back galley
4 oven positions available, we use 2 in slots 3&4 where slots 1&2 are used for 4 O2 bottles (1 120L on emergency, 1 120L on therapeutic, 1 311L on emergency and 1 311L on therapeutic)
Oh wait this is a Max?
Then ignore me the back galley is completely wrong
The Left side is two toilets, one oven and one water boiler on the right
Not every day you get to see a 757 up close
ill miss the pencils
757s are gorgeous
We NEED An-12s and An-24s
Would be able to fly in 2 literally opposite environments - snowy dirt strips in the north of Russia and sandy dirt strips in the middle of Africa
Ngl I should fly in Africa more, the 727 has a lot of opportunities
Do we have many African sceneries overall
standard?
Just any
Tbf I've also seen tiny strips on fs.to, although mainly those that are in wildlife reserves
tiny strip with a 727 lets go
(You can literally do safari in a C408 irl there)
Don't underestimate the 27!
It can land anywhere lol
YS-11 announced @reef isle
FUUUUUUUUCK
it's in collab with asobo/microsoft though
it'll be another shit plane just like the Saab 340
noooooooooooooooooooo 😭
That's god awful
Genuinely worse than the free F-27
My disappointment is immesurable, and my day is ruined.
they should just stop making planes
all they're doing is making it harder for people that actually know how to make planes
that's us not getting another YS-11 ever
great, thanks, I hate it
At least Fenix is doing the ATP 🙏
it's as confirmed as it can be without being officially confirmed
they've hinted at it multiple times
indeed 😄
Who’s ATP
That looks neat
British Aerospace Advanced Turboprop
The British Aerospace ATP (Advanced Turbo-Prop) is an airliner designed and produced by British Aerospace. It was an evolution of the Hawker Siddeley HS 748, a fairly successful feederliner of the 1960s.
The ATP was developed during the 1980s, events such as such as the 1979 oil crisis and increasing public concern regarding aircraft noise led b...
That is the straightest flight plan I've ever seen lmao
yep
yup
so its an asobo aircraft
Tbh if it's ini it might even be decent
hm... not sure about that 😬
Look, I didn't say good xD
also, is it 2024 only?
Let me check
Ngl I kinda don't want to even try with anything released as local legend/famous flyer
The 707 was awful
Never again
They were also supposed to release the caravelle around a year ago too iirc
But
I don't mind that they didn't
most sad moment ever
next time Xplane 12 is on sale I'll buy it and I'll try the alpha version of the Xplane one
AGREE
i wished for a good 707 :((
Well
There still might be one
Well there is gonna be a 707, we just don't yet know if a good one
Nope
Available on 2020 too
Along with the world update Japan
Theres one comingnfor xp
@rustic charm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SaIfFog04g
After years in the making, we are finally getting closer and closer to the release of the superjet. Lots of love , blood , sweat, and tears have been poured into this. We entered this into a contest and asked.Aviator CRO to create us. phenomenal trailer. I cant describe the amazing job he did to capture this.
Alex
Oooooh
And they have the vip version too
whatsup
fuel endurance is how much fuel u have with in hours
simbrief gives u that
did u prefile via simbrief? @dusty sky
This is news to me ok
I've had this account for like 10 months but I haven't done 1 flight
Me taking off when it's time to leave France
And yes I did forget the lights
But in my defence, considering all the ATCs are on strike, therefore I never had takeoff clearance to begin with, it's not the worst thing I did
really STEEP climb
goddamn
As I said, a France departure xD
(Just joking, I really just sometimes decide to sent it lol)
Pretty
I once forgot to raise the gear and only realised at like 20k when the DC-9 just gave up climbing
And the whole time I was like "What's wrong with it, it should perform better"
Technically on a goaround
But I didn't manage to descend enough to even require any goaround thrust application
I just levelled off at 3000 literally above the runway
Could've just rammed the runway otherwise
Its always time to leave france 😆
Second goaround, perfect...
Come on, this is an A320, it's meant to be treated nicely. If I were in a 727 I would've pushed it for sure
Attempt number 3 now
This time on ILS
Aaaaaaand the flight is done
Not in a good way
I was in for an autoland
And for some reason right above the threshold the AP disconnected and the plane went into a heavy left bank
That's not what ended the flight though
Cause I then threw it into a right bank a bit too much
And instead of striking the grass with the left wing, ended up striking the runway with the right
we really got a MSFS 2020 world update in the big 2025
As far as I know 2020 is where the majority still is
Descdenging into Helsinki now
what the hell
Down in Helsinki
Also wait actually what the hell
are you gonna get it ?
oh my god
never trust african atc jesus christ
not sure
I haven't really played flight sim in a while
and I feel like I already have too many planes I don't use enough
adding more more isn't going to help
Especially the Fokker F-27
I've bought the RJ recently (got lured by a sale) and the Starship and I pretty much haven't flown them 🙃
I would also really like to get back into the soviet planes and learn more about them
That is too close
I bought the F28 and the BAe 146 on a sale either in April or May 2024, over a year ago, not a single recorded flight on either of them yet
whatsup
TX transit , RX recieve
they'll light up
when either happens
I got it to work
how do I set standard altimeter?
what the hell is this may I ask
MANUAL THRUST
LEVER CLIMB
man before u fly on vastim u should know this
seriously
people will get pissed off when you dont know what you're doing
in worst case it'll end in a suspension
oh no
town
nice Bugatti bro
ayo
i actually forgot that radar in africa is more advisory than helpful
pilots monitor their positions on a different frequency

Didn't know Africa had something like that ngl
here
lemme find you a video that explains it
https://youtu.be/w_X-ixGw6vU?t=30
30 secs to 1:20min
LTU flight 674 cruising over Africa with some funny stories from Joe Moser
Thanks, will give it a watch
almost in south africa
id love to play this, if it wasnt in DCS
im also not into fighters all that much
give me a C-47 to drop paratroopers over france through flak and that might be enough to win me over to download DCS again
idk : (
that's been there for ages, i think if you don't follow taxi instructions it tells you that
the funny thing is
Oh wait I don't have it installed after reformatting the ssd...
it was the ai which sounds like hes in a civil war, deep black male voice
screaming at 200%
i died
Also I don't think I've flown the A320 with ATC yet, so it's gonna be a nice thing to try
I'm pretty sure Fenix has some good integration too
Mr Worldwide
Flying with failures on too?
idk
I think I set my 772s to age at like 10x lol
Just so I can see some service-based failures occasionally
theres no suitable airport to diver to

i just wanted to fly the FSS 727
i forgot that GSX is still broken
if you do the auto checklist stuff, the flight engineer will try to set up GSX pushback automatically
but that is extremely broken
im at a pull-through freight gate that doesnt need pushabck
nevermind, i forgot that it's an option in the settings now, i forgot to turn GSX auto mode off
the only issue is that my engines are on, and GSX stops working when engines are on, so im stuck with a pushback tug attatched to my nose
i like flying with no autothrottle and VOR/INS navigation, but the 727 is annoying enough to where im happy flying with autothrottle and the XLS
i love flying small aircraft
you can be so inaccurate with your landing distance and centerline distance and its still 100% fine
its not pretty, but its far from unsafe
like obviously if you're flying a 747/A380/A350, you want to put it down early and right on the centerline, but in a 727? just put it down wherever, youll stop
Try flying into Tempelhof with that mindset
Tegel massive
It's fun ngl
Most of the ASA milk run runways are longer
Wait, why is the YS11 also in the 2020 store?
It sold pretty well when it came out no? I bought it, it's a good upgrade on the original Normandy map
Ugra just keep adding stuff to their maps for years, they're the best terrain team in DCS imo
Oh did it? Hadn't realized it had come out yet
yeah, I wanna say it was a 2023 release off the top of my head - shortly before the Strike Eagle dropped
my beloved
its kind of depressing trying to find flights for the 727 freighter
most of the liveries and stuff available are for the pax version, or the fake freighter to pax conversion
just fly random flights
youre doing freighter
freighters consist of 50% chartered flights
So true
That requires research though, why would you research when you can just plug in the aircraft and get an instant list of flights
msfs2024 running worse than 2020 is just peak microsoft
this pop up is so damn annoying
it makes a sound, you cant disable it, it pops up every stutter
Uhh
I don't even know
Ah well, worked on another frequency
Why didn't it work here though
Landed in Helsinki
Last i checked Russian aircraft aren't allowed in Finland so you may end up getting arrested very very soon

I found a workaround in the form of a time machine
rly? i get so much better performance
yuh, i run ultra on msfs2020 with atleast 35-40fps, i can run most planes on high (pmdg, ifly, default) in 24, fenix is already struggling and the a350 doesnt even wanna wokr on medium
i was not running SU3 beta at that time though
ohh what the hell that s so weird
i tried flying a helicopter for the first time in a while
i still suck at it
my brain doesnt work fast enough to do stable flight in a heli
comanche time
i've learned how to properly use the rpm control too, so im all set to fly the comanche
i've learned how to use the GNS 430 too, not pure VOR flying, but it is pretty close
it's definitely become my favorite GA aircraft, the A2A accusim C-172 in FSX is extremely fun too, but flying VFR in FSX is not very fun
i still cant land it
both times ive stalled out just above the runway and bounced high
theres literally no way to land it softly, you get right above the runway and float, and you cant do anything to put it on the ground except either stall it or nose down
literally every single video i see of the A2A comanche is a horrible landing like mine, either they land deep and almost overrun, or lands extremely hard
i am extremely fucking angry right now, but i will say nothing ther than i did not enjoy that flight, and i have realized that i do not enjoy flying the comanche as much after landing it
i really need to stop doing flights right before bed, because if they go wrong, i just get pissed off and i cant sleep
Back to Moscow
Absolutely missed my TD
Love this bird. Flaps 35 approach would literally exceed the maximum permitted speed in Sheremetyevo, I have to go flaps full lol
@rustic charm @echo gorge @echo gorge https://fselite.net/content/nimbus-simulations-teases-707-cockpit-progress-for-x-plane-12/
yooooooooo
Why can't that be MSFS 😭
About fucking time
They said this was coming out for XP11 😂😂😂
lmao
I took off with atc for the first time so that's cool
also what the hell is the vnav doing
Context is people asking for KC-10 release
If it's out yet and or being worked on
it looks complete to me tbh
unless they haven't made the CIVA yet
ok they seem to have done that
I'm just gonna assume they have things to iron out
what I have put in vs my actual altitude
Your on FLC not vnav
vnav is about as useful as a frog in cutting wood
bro what the hell I was on altitude hold and the plane was just putting the nose up
like actually what
another thing ive learned, especially with airlines that used to have 727s, is that you can use their modern flight routes and just fly the older plane
it really doesnt matter, but it does mean that its a realistic pair of airports
especially for airlines that actually do fly scheduled flights, like the DHL airlines
Psssst #1165354616993632397 message
Better late than never 😆
is that a freighter skin or the real pax version?
Real pax
I'm now debating super 27
im not interested in the super 27 tbh, the whole appeal of flying the 727 is a steam gauge cockpit
You can still have cooler engines with clamshell reversers while flying gauges
I really ain't interested in screens either, I have the 738 for that
Plus I think super 27 adds TCAS as just an internal system, you don't have to use screens for it (although obviously without screens TCAS will just shout warnings and you'll have no idea where traffic actually is)
And for anything semi-modern, TCAS is necessary
Anybody knows which airports Thai used as stopovers for their flights to the US?
Some of course went direct in 747s, but I've seen pictures of MD-11s at LAX and SEA
And there are those pictures of MD-11s in LAX and SEA, but not a single one showing Honolulu or Anchorage
And a loaded 11 can't quite make it from Los Angeles to Bangkok
Ugh
I can see if I find something
Wait
Do you mean ferry flights or normal scheduled flights?
So I've got told it'd be Osaka
Well normal flights, they most likely would use the same stop on deliveries
Any particular era/plane?
First quick check on FlightsimDispatch doesn't show any flights to the US
Yeah, I've tried that, no data there
there you go 😄
look at the captions for both
Thanks, that's amazing
Airliners.net is great 😄
Wait what even is SEL
I can assume that stands for Seoul
And from that I can assume it's a predeccessor to Incheon
So I see it used to be the code for Seoul Gimpo until that got changed to GMP and SEL became just a code for any airport in Seoul
Still flying
12:08 in the air according to the plane
Past Japan, soon going to be in Seoul
Not even counting this flight, I have over 80 hours on the MD-11 even though I bought it a month ago lol
Meanwhile different 777s I've had for over a year, and the total on 777s is 235 hours
And 135 of those are on a single reg lol
Honestly cannot wait for the FF777F
Gonna be flying nothing but 777 freight routes for a few months
Ex-PLAY TF-PLA at the 70 stands
It’s only been ex-play for 24 hours
ctp cancelled was not something i had imagined but
it makes sense
with the amount of people and then the people who dont know how their plane works ontop it's understandable
that's so fucking funny ngl
so many toddlers who dont know how to fly their aircraft
flight sim went too mainstream, and this is the issues it's causing
they should have a minimum flight hours requirement for big events like that

It was a stupid event
The traffic flow and amount of traffic was too high and not at all realistic in any way shape or form.
It just made no sense in its current form
No matter how good the pilots were, it was, at best, a huge stress test on controllers and VATSIM infrastructure itself
They'd need to have a rethink about the whole event, it doesn't work the way it's done now, the last 1 or 2 have been terrible for everyone involved.
Yeah it was a massive mess last few editions
I remember the last CTP I enjoyed was 2023 Eastbound
Flew CYYZ - UKBB
Had a great time because at least then everyone knew there aircraft and it was before the “MSFS 2020 NUMBER 1 VATSIM TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNERS”
ive had this image saved for ages because ive wanted to make this a repaint for the FSS 727
More MD-11-ing
My only problem is the decent
My plane doesn't decent
Unless I start hand flying
Now that I think about it I probably just didn't program that into the fmc
This
This
Or a seperate server all together for newbies
I think its partly fucking morons who don't know how to fly their aircraft & partly fucking morons who don't get a slot they won't but choose to fly the same route anyway
Who's going to control there?
I've participated in pretty much all CTPs since like 21 eastbound & every year its just gotten worse with 5 people trying to fly the exact same route as the 3000 other pilots & then get mad that they get put in the back of the queue
& i'll be genuine, I don't think theres any interest from Vatsim themselves to make any effort in improving pilot quality
& especially not making them go through the same amount of training that ATC have to

diffucult
but i see it as the only option
or well
for ctp maybe at the VERY least a seperate server
Which Don Mueang is more recommended, Dominic Design Team or Siamflight?
(Unfortunately haven't found any freeware for it)
apparently its going to be 2024-only through early access, after full release theyre going to work on porting it
im having a fun time trying to fly the xcrafts e-jets again
for some reason LNAV will not engage no matter what
the last time i tried to fly the E190 is when one of the main landing gear collapsed on landing and i got so mad i had to shut off my PC for the day
oh, its because i was on V/L nav mode and not FMS
still no vnav
oops
i misread that
i thought you were trying the fss one
the xcrafts one is very decent
if its v2 atleast
the FSS one is horrible, it genuinely shouldnt even be "early access", its just not a complete flyable aircraft
the x-crafts one is very good, definitely the best embraer available
i have a feeling that my issue is with embraer and not xcrafts/FSS though
twotonemurphy went live on Twitch. Catch up on their Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 VOD now.
twotonemurphy did a preview stream for the B-17
im behind on aviation lore, but i love the fucked up 747 bootleg
Yeah they're funny
Are there any decent DC 4 models for msfs? none for xp that I know of
oh thats gross, MSFS 2024 still isnt on sale
i was hoping it would have gone on sale for the autumn sale, and i could pick it up for the B-17

Looks like Boris is working on the 777
And PMDG are shitting their pants over it
& having listened to the sounds in video, I am excited. The 737 soundpack basically revived that plane for me for like a month straight
the BAW 737 soundpack is insane, it completely changes the entire plane
Honestly it looks great
I really hope they don't screw it up
By this time I gave up hope that they'll release it for 2020 too like they apparently did with the 350
So I guess I'll be buying 2024 soon enough
Potentially I bought this plane around a year and 4 months ago
And potentially this is my first flight in it
airac update day
$33 for early access, not too bad i guess
early access in planes ;(
the thing with B-17s in flight sims is that you try anything because there is no other option
Forgot why I never flew this thing, ground steering is uncontrollable without any hardware XD
Guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer with it until I finally get something lol
xbox controller all the way
small, cheap, versatile, works for a ton of games and not just flight sims
full hardware like joysticks and yokes are great for immersion and technique, but a controller just works for everything
i might make my own custom patch for it, there are some pretty bad misspellings in the cockpit, and for some reason the breaker panel is like lighted
Kai Tak, here we go
Anyone tried onair? looks quite interesting
After one goaround, I'm in Kai Tak
Costs almost $1 more than Navigraph lol
Yeah, within Chinese airspace, so it should just be metres
Just unusual to see for me
Since I don’t normally fly in the region
Think this was actually the first time I’ve seen metres planned for the flight
When I was flying the IL76 across Europe on vatsim I remember getting all the controllers to clear me in metres
Where’s that from
Yeah, Soviet planes will make you do that lol
Russia now is in feet normally though
Inibuilds discord
Nice
I really hope they do a good tristar
Also, they haven't yet officially announced it have they?
They have now
With that message
Not yet
Though tbf, ini from all the recent releases if I remember them right tends to make big announcements once the planes are closer to ready
Ngl, trying to understand schedules hurts my head
Found a 1993 Thai schedule
And I see a flight from Hong Kong to Zurich in the MD-11. Why not? Sounds fun
It's flying on Fridays, TG968
And it is scheduled to leave Hong Kong at 20:30 for Zurich
But flight 968 also leaves Bangkok at 23:59 for Copenhagen...
And obviously a stop in Bangkok is rather realistic, but why does it fly from Hong Kong to Bangkok with Zurich as its destination but then somehow switches to Copenhagen
Can you send a screenshot?
Wait, I think I understand now
I missed the part where departures from Hong Kong to Copenhagen are listed
And it's there too
So it seemingly goes to Zurich via Copenhagen
(And yes, looking at timings, it arrives to Copenhagen earlier than in Zurich, idk why they would do it that way and not to Copenhagen through Zurich)
That’s pretty normal for the era
Okay that flight is a lot more now that I look closer
BA used to do LHR-BAH-HKG-SYD-MEL
On a 742
That was there premier Australia service
Qantas did SYD-HKG-ATH-FCO-LHR
Thai must've had several planes do that flight
Using some feeders
Cause this simply doesn't work
The math doesn't add up
23:15z departure from Kaohsiung and then 0:00z departure from Guam, there's just not any way one plane could do both
What year was this?
The timetable is from 1993
Just found a timetable scan online
We going to Sydney
Can you send it?
There are two different flights
There's 603 from Hong Kong to Bangkok with the A300-600 and then there's 962 from Bangkok to Zurich with the MD11
and yes it looks like 968 stops in CPH on the way to Zurich
weird that they don't mention that directly, looks like whoever used this timetable just added those using a pencil
the only thing that you could notice is that it takes about 2h longer than 964, which makes sense

thank you ini

eis1 looks so good

just need these now
653 is "the same" flight every day, they're just telling you that depending on what day it is it arrives at a different time
Yeah, seems so
Gotta say it’s more understandable now
But I only got roughly 4 hours of sleep today after landing in Kai Tak at 3:30am lol
So comprehending literally anything is a challenge
I get it...
(Call it job training… at least I’d love it to be, but idk if I’ll ever have a chance to actually get a license)
my vnav is on some sort of substance man
why is it decending
and now it's climbing
I'm just gonna assume it's cuz the vnav page is fucked
?
Most normal Ryanair flight
don't you see how far off the cross it is
You mean the flight director…?
same thing
went in and finally fixed some typos
why am i updating an addon that is over a decade old, visually outdated, and surpassed by better versions in better sims? because i hate typos
Do some antiviruses falsely detect the FBW installer as a virus?
most likely
if you downloaded it from FBW themselves or flightsim.to, its 100% safe
I was telling a friend to get the A380 and he showed me that an antivirus is saying that it's a virus
Could just be simbridge who know
Which antivirus?

I know the guys working on this
do they know if the passport tasted good at least?
Nah fuckers trying to claim asylum
“Oh we are stateless give me asylum plz”
“No passport”
the smartest way to claim asylum is by going insane and eating your passport on the plane obviously, that will always help your case
Issue is they started eating about 200 miles early
FIXING BUGS IS MY FAVORITE THING EVER!!!
i cant figure out why jetways dont spawn in KMDW no matter what scenery i use, no matter what i do, nothing works

Yesterday I chatted with ini_001 about the TriStar, recap:
-
It's done by one of their "main" teams, the same that did the A300, so It will be a High fidelity plane, not a local legend level thing
-
It might release before the end of the year
-
DLC [Direct Lift Control] is planned
Wasn't Ini also making a A380?
So they're planning to release 4 airliner planes this year?
Or well more if we talking bout small planes too
Nobody said A380 is this year though
Yeah i worded that wrongly
And them updating the FS24 planes which also means alot of planes getting worked on this year
And one of them is really different from the others in terms of everything
I finally fixed my FS2024 walkaround/enter the plane thing
if anyone had a similar/same issue you can check how to solve it here
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/walkaround-behaves-weirdly-and-cannot-take-control-of-the-aircraft/688061/17?u=fd1003
Update: I accidentally managed to fix this problem, I can’t tell you why or how it worked, so I’ll just leave here how to reproduce, not a bug for once, but the solution. Since I have this problem, I thought that one potential solution would have been to just skip/remove walkaround entirely, which is something that a friend of mine told me ...
Is there a way to disable it yet
Apparently yes
ayo??? finally???
you have to edit an .xml file
I've forwarded it to the FS24 discussion chat too
Any A320 experts here, what's the acceptable engine vibration level with CFM56s
Not quite flight sim, but aviation, and I need help, someone please explain why
I wanna go from Bali to Dubai on 5th January, and Emirates is expensive, so I decided to look for a connection via Doha
And here is me searching for Bali - Doha - Sharjah, Bali to Doha leg
A couple things to note: offers 3 economy options and business, doesn't show first at all
Now here is what happens if I search for Bali - Doha - Dubai International. The first leg, Bali - Doha, stays exactly the same
THAT IS THE EXACT SAME FLIGHT. It now only offers 2 economy options, doesn't show the cheapest one at all. Both of those that are present are more expensive than when looking to connect to Sharjah. And it also shows an option for first
Again, the parameters for that flight are the exact same
All that changes is whether after arriving to Doha I fly to DXB or SHJ
Can someone please explain what's going on there
Like I get not offering first to those who fly to Sharjah, yeah I'm flying to Sharjah so I'm poor. Or really it could be explained that if you want to fly first class on one leg, you'll want first class on the other too, and flights to Sharjah only have business (not even all)
But what's up with economy prices being different
Like, am I missing something or what

Me like
Seems like I’m gonna have to buy 2024 xD
Yea just hoping ini learnt from the 350 bs
Hopefully
Ngl that shot of the Kai Tak approach is really nice though
Hope we at some point get some better scenery for the approach
The airport itself with freeware enhancements is very nice
But the buildings on the approach aren’t
Actually about that, does anyone here have samscene3d’s hong kong? Does it improve that area or does it only really focus on the skyscraper part of the city?
There's some decent enough mods to restore a lot of the old skyline for Kai tak

Thank
I’ve flown into modern Hong Kong, but never Kai Tak
they have released the liveries for pre-download
kinda weird but alright i guess?
yea 100%
Welp, for now I've only flown into Kai Tak twice, and both were on MD-11s
I gotta say
MD-11 is an amazing plane
Definitely not the best if you judge constructively, but also definitely my personal favourite
McDonnell Douglas had the perfect design philosophy, a little bit of Airbus and a little bit of Boeing
Boeing is kind of on the extreme of manual control, and Airbus is on the extreme of automation, so having something in the middle is perfect
McDonnel Douglas had the design philosofy of CHEAP:
C - Cheap
H - cHeap
E - chEap
A - cheAp
P - cheaP
They did manage to do some things right of course
Like you mentioned, the balance between automatic and manual control
I honestly can’t really think of anything objectively wrong with MD aircraft outside of the MD-80 having a panel layout designed by an insane person
And tbf the reason why the 11 is my favourite is because of its very weird characteristics, and those weird characterestics happened entirely because MD was cheap
oh speaking of Kai Tak, I still need to sort scenery for when I eventually take the Concorde there
been busy, so its pretty much been put on the forgotten list
The MD-11 was supposed to have a newly-designed modern wing, but the structure of CHEAP (as mentioned above) prevented it. Instead, it had the same wings as the DC-10, just slightly improved (added winglets for example). That combined with a stretched fuselage made the aircraft underperform heavily, so they decided to improve efficiency by reducing drag. And the best way to reduce drag, MD thought, is to make the horizontal stabiliser smaller. As a result, smaller elevators on a bigger plane made for a serious lack of pitch control on slower speeds
Re-using designs doesn’t necessarily mean they’re being cheap
Especially because the MD-11 was going to be the next generation DC-10, it only makes sense to start with the DC-10 as a base and work from there
Well, reusing designs that were not planned to be reused because of money concerns does make them cheap
Does it result in a plane that’s interesting and (in my personal opinion really neat) to fly? Yes
Does that result in major contributing factors to incidents? Also yes
Does it also result in performance figures lower than those that were promised? Again yes
Completed my first MSFS2024 flight 🙂
I fully moved from 2020 to 2024 now 😄
now I'm ready for the TriStar
Hopefully the tristar will be good
Will have to move to 2024 myself
Maybe not right in time for the 340, but in a bit
there's a lot less to get wrong compared to even the A300
I'm hopeful
at the end of the day ini hasn't been as bad as some people say IMO, most of their planes are solid, even if they could be better/more polished
True
And also true
Well from my experience at least
Although my experience is limited to around 6-7 total hours on the A310

Also I wonder if ini will only make CF6s on the Tristar as well
If it even had CF6s, don't remember tbf
But probably did
not if you're Lockheed
At least we'll certainly have the correct engines for all the liveries
that engine (and all its problems) were one of the main reasons why it got to market so late compared to the DC-10
I know it's entirely a limit that I set myself
But it's so annoying seeing a nice A310/MD-11 operator, look into the reg and it had PWs
yeah I get it, hopefully the MD-11 should be updated soon
Cause the 310 obviously only will ever have CF6s in this game
The MD at least has PWs in the future
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't collectors edition MD-11 customers get PWs right away too
yes
THEN WHY DO WE STILL NOT HAVE THEM OVER A YEAR LATER 😭
but as far as I've understood they were never "good enough" so they redid them, or tweaked them
they'll release them with the big update that should happen soon™
Yeah
At least it's not too long left
The poor A310 will likely never get either PW4000s or JT9s
Yeah, the A310 seems to be more or less abandoned
which is a big shame, it had lots of potential
Yep
not just the engine, but the other pax variant and the cargo variant as well
And the chances someone else makes one... almost 0
Yeah, no -200s at all, no freighters at all...
yeah no point, and to be fair, the ini A310 is very good, I think it's actually better than most of their modern busses
Oh yeah
And even if ini wanted to expand it, Asobo won't allow it most likely
And it's quite likely even that they have a line in a contract that they can't make a fully new A310 from scratch either
I'm sort of surprised that the community didn't take on the project
it seems a fairly straightforward thing to do if there's someone that is looking to do a model replacement or model tweak
same sort of the same thing as the Salty 747-8f
but I guess the A310 isn't as mainstream and popular as the 747 😅
Maybe I will do it whenever I learn blender
(which is probably never going to happen)
Same lol
Need to learn modelling
Although tbf, whenever I do, the first thing I'm doing is an Il-86
I want a widebody powered by low bypass turbofans lol
well but you know, if you do that all you have to do is model work
LTUUUU
TRIPOLI TRIPOLI
they had a banging livery
THEY DID
really?
Yes
that's really cool 🤣
yup
what a legend
It's amazing
Also I didn't know that was the old one
What's the new one
does he still fly for Aerologic?

shortly before the airberlin merger
air berlin was a big L
their decisions anyway
they had a cool song tho
The livery was nice too tbf
Good thing they didn't build an airport almost exclusively for them
And Niki Lauda owned a share
we went from great to shit in modern times
their new livery was okay but the old one cleared tbh
oh right hahahah
I landed with throttles still in auto following 121kts
Which resulted in a bad and rather bouncy touchdown
with kai tak, how do you get charts for an airport that has been closed
But well, never too late to push toga (until the reversers are deployed, then it's too late... normally)
For me just googling "Kai Tak approach charts" worked
im kind of interested in trying to land at kai tak, but im terrified at the same time, because visual landings in airliners in the past have not been great
When do yall actually whip the autopilot off
i tried landing at DCA in the fenix A321, and trying to do visual turns while also staying on a glideslope is so fucking hard
On clear conditions ofc
depends on the aircraft, airport, how good the approach is going, the winds
if the winds are good, and im solid on the approach, i usually take it off around 500ft AGL
enough to get a good feel of how its going to handle, while also not going so early that i risk cocking something up and getting off of the approach path
if winds are bad, ill wait until minimums to take over, if the aircraft is doing something i dont like i'll usually take over right by the FAF
In Kai Tak? Usually once I cross from the bay into the city
Once I'm over the buildings, it's manual
I meant in general
Oh, then depends on the mood lol
And the plane
The 320s admittedly quite early, they handle themselves very steadily
I've once done Edinburgh - Heathrow starting at around 3am, while drunk, without ever engaging AP
The whole flight by hand
737s and 777s mostly around 1000-1500AGL, but sometimes I'll keep AP for a lot longer if I feel like it's gonna work out better
Woe I expected alot higher
idk, im a big believer in letting the airplane do its thing
if you're on the approach, and everything is going good, there's no reason to kick off autopilot until you really have to
And with keyboard and mouse
You're the best flight simmer I've ever seen
Respect
i may or may not being flying into kai tak
i had no idea that they actually had turn lights on the ground on top of buildings lol
I usually turn it on at 10-13k fr and whip it off at 5-10k ft (clear conditions) ngl
I enjoy flying the plane except a few exclusions
W a weird FM
Same
At the very least I do all the approach myself
from ILS intercept ownward
in the sense that I want to intercept the ILS myself
only exception is bad weather
its one of those days where i know i want to fly something, but i dont know what aircraft, or where to fly it to
im feeling pmdg 747 right now, or i might redo my worst landing on volanta
yes!!!!!! i love random lag spikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
B-17 activities
i tried cleaning my shader cache and FTX broke, so now i have to fix that B)
i havent decided if im going to buy the microprose early access, after watching a preview video, it looks not great even for a paid early access
the startup sequence is simplified, the mixture levers are reversed, the heading bug doesnt work, seems kind of sketchy
Found this at Stansted last week
Thing must be older than about 50% of the people in this server
They used to have a base at STN and used the satellite I was sat at
Ayoooo
From the days before we relied on computers for everything
well
I would say its a departure board
but its not
stansted was finished in the 90's with all the modern bits for the time including departure boards fucking everywhere
I would say its a baggage reclaim thing
but then it says "boarding time" on it
but also exit?
Maybe that or for staff maybe?
But why would it be in german
Well yes ofc
they did mainly fly to germany
But for staff it would seem random to be in german
Mönchengladbach is the interesting one

its out
Why does the A340 store page have the recommended fs2020 specs
Idk
That's weird
Maybe ini just had some standardised thing for their pages and just included it
the sounds r abit weird
Ping me when you take a quick look at the systems, what's there/not there etc
I'm really interested in this one
fmc wise its a standard a340
crt screns are nice
Standard as in good kind of standard, meaning a true-to-A340 kind of A340?
It looks really good I gotta say
A3XX run i think a standardized fmc across the board
except 350/380
