#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)
1 messages · Page 36 of 1
im amazed
i've yet have to try to it with an actual sub
sonodipper works too
patternwork
just the flaring & taxiing that were big issues for me personally, rest of it was fine in all honesty
Tbh I did not notice too much of a difference in flaring, but really I’ve only owned the Fenix for 2(?) days before the update lol
But I do agree that taxiing is much nicer now
Before the update it just felt weird
felt like the whole world was covered in vaseline
now it actually sticks to the ground
If you're interested in participating in the pre-order, head on over to the ASC website and buy directly from them there:
https://www.airplanesimulations.com/products/c-130j
Hello all, with the announcement of the C-130 preorder going live, I'm proud to say I've been working with the ASC group behi...
Multi crew
Looking well advanced
Wait, they’re seriously opening pre-orders on a product without a release date? WTF?
Standard in dcs you know anything theres not even a release date on the mig29
one of tfhe bst UAL liveries
Ngl, never quite was a fan of it
It’s definitely not bad
But just definitely not my favourite either
Meanwhile I'm trying out another Airbus
Orange
Only issue is I don’t actually remember the ILS frequencies for Sheremetyevo lol
That's the reason they aren't allowed to do pre-orders on Steam any more
I heard it was Q2 2025 or Summer 2025 or September 2025 maybe possibly
Keep guessing lol
Another Horde of drunk germans has landed in Mallorca
Looks like the ATC ain’t doing too well with traffic separation
Average unicom moment
Saul Bass, Battleship Grey and Blue Tulip I think are all very close at the top, but I think Blue Tulip is my favourite by a tiny margin
followed very closely by Saul Bass and then even more closely by Battleship Grey
then Continental came and replaced everything with the most boring livery imaginable
been a while since I flew to Copenhagen, was alright I guess
So the first flight I did earlier today (well technically yesterday, it's 4am), a delivery from Hamburg to Moscow
And a second flight I did now, Edinburgh to Heathrow
This one was fully hand-flown
Didn't even enable the AP
Not for takeoff, not for approach
Not for cruise
I don’t want to be the one to make the joke that’s it’s a standard Russian western airframe now
CPT PFD INOP
Thats how I do most of my flights. Only use AP if Im online
Oh yeah, that plus also some fuel system fault and a flap fault xD
I might’ve accidentally pressed the button that triggers a random fault in the plane… several times…
But you’re not wrong either. Aeroflot tbh keeps the planes in wonderful condition, but some other airlines will just fly with half of the cockpit being inoperative
anyone play flightgear?
Years since I last tried it. Was a decent flightsim but lacking in the UI
there's a really good A320 and it's got simbrief integration but it's complicated to import the flight plan without a navigraph subscription
and the mcdu does double imputs a lot
It's a bittersweet farewell to our R2-D2™ ANA JET. R2-D2 has flown countless missions across the sky.
Final flights: August 6, ANA flight NH 102 from Haneda to IAD, August 6 ANA flight NH 101 from IAD to Haneda.
Details may change. More at https://t.co/d8HVxbvr54
Anyone know if this is any good?
I’ve been tempted by a yoke for a while and this price is kinda shifting me
what do I do from here exactly?
that's the one i use, for a cheap yoke it's pretty good
though mine is the older one, so it doesnt have the rudder pedals, or the extra switches and stuff on the face of the yoke
looks like you're missing your entire flight plan & have just put in the SID & STAR
@untold finch u got any experience w cowansim for choppers
looks interesting
I have most of their stuff, it's decent flight-model wise but not quite as good as Taog's Hangar, which was the closest I got to DCS in MSFS (still some way to go but oh well)
I do like exec type helicopters...
Feature wise cowansim is pretty good
MAX gaming
Can’t wait to fly lots of Icelandair once the 757 is out
Hopefully it’s before 2026…
FIDAE Virtual is the digital version of the most important airshow in Latin America, recreated entirely in DCS World (Digital Combat Simulator). More than just a performance, it's an immersive experience where virtual pilots from around the globe come together to showcase precision flying, teamwork, and cutting-edge aviation technology.

I'm taking part togheter with a group of 4x MB-339s, you can see a snippets of our thing at 1:42
Something’s waiting off the coast of Costa Rica.

This is just the beginning. Stay tuned.

Some people will moan about Orbx doing that but I see now issues
Bush flying seeing dinosaurs I think is really cool
I mean, I’m not much of a fictional enjoyer myself, and I only fly airliners, so probably the only plane I could potentially use that with is the DC-6
But at the same time, I don’t see any issue with that being a thing. I won’t use it, others will though
I dabble with the fictional stuff from time to time. The Halo Pelican was nice, the Dune Ornithopter was really fun to fly too
i like it, definitely want to do some bush flights there
especially if they have landmarks and stuff, that would be really cool to explore
another IT airline ground stop
from what I saw in a video it looked basically complete but apparently it wasn't
nothing like flying in china to remember why i hate flying in china
what the fuck, it happened again, my gear came down mid-flight
for some reason the 787 REALLY wanted to do a -10000fpm descent rate as the regular VNAV descent
PMDG’s turned 28, so they’re offering 28% off until 10th August for everything
Can’t fucking wait until they turn 100
And past that? A couple days when they give you the plane and then pay you part of the price? Don’t mind if I do xD

Sooo
Now I have both -200s
(Well technically we have 3 -200s cause F is also a -200, but I mean the ER and LR)
Which means I now have all triples
plön
They originally just did manuals and flightmodel (no visuals) in FS98
Fair, the name makes a bit more sense then
it was a lot easier to program the A320 MCDU than I thought
I tried doing a flight just now
no clue what happened but I crashed after takeoff
so that went well
If that sort of thing happens watch the replay so you can learn from it
it's apparently a massive work-in-progress
despite taking something like a decade to get to this point
i was gonna say
its been in dev for YEARS hasnt it
kinda sad
pacific theatre is madly undersaturated
I just hope Combat Pilot will be our saviour
thats the new IL2 right
from the devs
it's from Jason Williams, who was the executive producer behind IL-2 Great Battles, but he's since left 1C to do Combat Pilot
There will also be an IL-2 Pacific after they have got Korea done, apparently
huh, 6 out of my top 10 best landings are all in xplane
the ground effect simulation in xplane is really a massive factor i think, it makes landing much more easy to handle
i just wish that xplane had the control customization like MSFS or DCS, that is the sims biggest drawback by far
and all 6 are the top 6
Guys do you think msfs is worth the money for a beginner?
prob yes
get gamepass for a month and try it out
get the fbw a320 with it
it's free
As an X-plane preferrer I would reccomend msfs for a beginner
Just a shame that they don't have Rod Machado doing the flight instructor stuff any more
I remember that from FS2002
showing your age there pal 😆
FS 2000 was what drove me to X-Plane, came back to msfs in fs2004, loved that sim and the rod machado FI stuff. FSX drove me back to XP
i feel young reading this
my first PC sim was FS2020
fs2004 was goated
i loved fs2004
ifly 737ng was class imo
with AES back then
yuck
✓ CSS Boeing 737-500 British Airways pack G- GFFG 4K is a Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 mod created by dubov. The CSS Boeing 737-500 British Airways G-GFFG add-on features a detailed 4K livery for the popular aircraft model. This version includes distinctive eyebrow windows and contains certain inaccuracies that are...
FINALLY someone did BAW
the CSS 735 is truly something
5$/month 50$/year or 120$ lifetime for a russian virus
and you can only pay via crypto and credit card
They added paypal iirc
And
It’s not Russian and not a virus
The devs are ethnically Russian yeah, but they’re based in the UAE
Paying w cc only isnt rate
Rare
Fenix had cc only for a while too
Yeah, and it’s available via simmarket now too btw
can you buy the subscription there too?
cause 120 dollars for a decent plane is outrageous
Not very often do you see me in an arliner
Not actually sure
And I do agree that for just the -500, 120 is too much
But they’re already working on the -300 and -400 at least
You can buy the subscription
But the prices are much higher
With no VAT, simMarket prices are €5.5/€55/€130
Which is already quite a bit higher than $5/$50/$120
And that’s without VAT
bruh
if they deliver those promises, 120 is a good deal
out of all of the aircraft i have purchased in any flight sim, the felis 747 and the xworks embraers have been the best ngl
felis is ukranian, so i dont mind supporting him and his devs, and the xworks guy is super good at communication as well as making a good product for its price
of course RJTT went IFR, headwinds of 20 kts
once again, weather was the cause
for some reason the sim said 18kts of crosswind, even though it should have been around 18kts of headwind, at points the yoke was going hard over to keep it literally uncentered on the runway
i need to stop using live weather, but then i cant use navigraph's weather panel
just flight sims in general for me lately have been horrible, either i dont finish the flight, or i get a landing so bad that i cant keep it, its like 1 in 5 flights that end up getting kept
i think im going to try another flight this week, but in the E-175, something so modern and small that weather wont be an issue regardless of where i go
Yeah, and I really hope they do cause there’s so much to do with classics
Unfortunately as of yet they haven’t mentioned any plans for -400 combis, Alaska had those
But at least we’re supposed to get both freighters
Just had my first flight on the Sukhoi Superjet
Moscow - St. Petersburg on Aeroflot-Rossiya Shuttle
Got lucky with overbooking and got bumped to business
Hpws russian aviation nowadays
That looks like rudder trim or asymmetric thrust/drag
There isn't any crab to speak of, doesn't look like wind correction
Reminds me a bit of Dynasty 006
Service in business of course is great, especially considering I only had an economy ticket xD
But no, the service is genuinely great
It was a flight of less than an hour, they served actual warm meals - chicken, shrimp and some fish, plus ice cream for desert
ths is kinda regular in business
if im not mistaken the SSJ is still C9 Y78
I mean, yeah, it’s regular business service of course, but it’s not bad
What would that mean?
9 Business and 78 econ
I thought it was eurobusiness 2+3 config
Nah, it’s 2+2 business, 2+3 economy
Look where the plane is pointing and look at your engine #1. The cause is not wind.
"Meanwhile, as the airspeed decreased, the autopilot rolled the control wheel to the maximum left limit of 23 degrees while maintaining level flight. As the speed decreased even further the aircraft began to roll to the right even though the autopilot was maintaining the maximum left roll limit. By the time the captain disconnected the autopilot the aircraft had rolled over 60 degrees to the right and the nose had begun to drop. Ailerons and flight spoilers were the only means available to the autopilot to keep the wings level as the autopilot does not connect to the rudder during normal flight. "
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Airlines_Flight_006
It's exactly what happened to you, just that it was worse in that case. The wind had nothing to do with it.
If wind was the cause you'd have more crab, you can also tell by looking at the slip indicator right below the artificial horizon
China Airlines Flight 006 was a daily non-stop international passenger flight from Taipei to Los Angeles International Airport. On February 19, 1985, the Boeing 747SP operating the flight was involved in an aircraft upset accident, following the failure of the No. 4 engine, while cruising at 41,000 ft (12,500 m). The plane rolled over and plunge...
Yeah
Tbf you can’t really fit another seat there
The plane is the size of an Embraer
It’s essentially an E-175 (and my personal opinion slightly better-looking than one) with an A320 cockpit
wider
its like 25-30cm wider i think
thats why the SSJ was potentially gonna be big in europe
then the BCS1 came along
CityJet did like there jets
Yeah, fair
Tbh yeah it’s closer to BCS in size
And tbh the SSJ is a nice plane
Obviously for the rest of the world buying an A220 makes more sense though, at least it’s made by proven manufacturers, plus it’s European, so for European countries to get them is more logical
But it would be cool to see these flying in other countries again
I miss seeing these things
Cursed
Lol forgot the gear 😆
The lines look quite cool on it tbh
Though I gotta say I really like how the plane looks overall
Probably in terms of looks my favourite modern regional jet
I think it’s genuinely very beautiful
oh yeah i forgot about the brussels airlines fleet
its funny
Aeroflot pilots and crews working for cityjet who are working for brussels airlines
Last time I looked at this I couldnt make out the HSI needle making it kinda useless for anything. They either fixed it or its my settings
You can do some lovely landings in her, she is a joy to handfly
I'm gonna do something daring tomorrow
transatlantic in an A320neo
also today I've done my first proper flight in ages
They do transatlantic in 320s???
My brother did the JetBlue flight from Boston to Charles de Gaulle, and that’s in a 321neo
transatlantic in a narrow body sounds painful
I was not jealous
Air France does that same route but in A350s, which would be a lot cooler
Though, I’ve heard that JetBlue is pretty good as far as customer service goes, so not sure if it would be that bad
i mean as long as the seats are somewhat comfy and you get food like you would on a wide body, i dont see an issue
Idk
Like I don't think swiss has flights to or from Luton either
But I did it anyway
except for speed
issue is on JBU they fucked the catering, because they use both the 321neo and the 321neoLR they have different oven configs that makes it a logistical nightmare
My brother said he did get a menu, and he did order, but he never got anything, so that’s something
What even is global airlines
Their downfall has to be studied
More like airline
they really thought running an A380 between gatwick and jfk would break even
Even the major flag carriers can’t keep the A380s running, I have no idea how they thought a startup could sustain that
Right now, $0, because they already went broke after like 1 flight
Lmao
i think they did 4 flights
Gatwick - JFK and back
and Manchester JFK and back
something like that
I only knew of the media flight that was a disaster
if you think about it BOS-LHR is about the same flight time as EDI-LCA or LGW-HGH
Yeah, 90 something passengers xd
so its not like a new concept
and the crew still couldnt keep up with the food and stuff
What even happened on that
holy shit
Terrible service, dirty aircraft that was just brought out of storage, and like nobody was on it
Dang
I love FS 24
A320?
yes
Well that's my question answered
I think it was global that was advertising a “gamer class” too, they had like first class seats with gaming PCs built in
Aw nah
Their inflight entertainment didnt even work
Bro global isn't a clown it's the whole circus
playing FS 24 in that would be dope tho
I wish I could see a 747 man
ultra rare wyndbain non europe flights
Legit there is 0 way for me to see a 747 without leaving my country
i see this from time to time cause EDDF is my local
Lucky
nobody knows when they will retire, cause the 777X will replace them
and who knows when thats getting delivered
blessed SAS
Longest runway in the country can maybe hold a 747
But it's still kinda a stretch ig
Or idk depends
A320ceo with IAEs, wingtip fences and a mask is an interesting combination
i love the IAEs
IAEs are peak, used to fly a SAS 321 all the time back in P3D
sadly never flown with them in the real world, but heard good things
IAE A320 is the best engine for it change my mind
They're more efficient than the CFMs and sound way cooler
But they like to eat oil i have heard
I like how skinny they are
they take 2-3 business days to start
and blast your ears with very deep bass while they do so
atleast the fenix ones
It sucks though
Like actual asscrack
Not the plane itself
But Lufthansa
Cap
I flew on it alot
Their -8is
EDDF-RJTT
I‘m not a tall person
But even I had my space issues
The food sucked, old IFE
Junk
Hope LH replaces it with their 787s soon
777X
Or that
whenever that gets delivered
(It didnt work halfway through)
you didnt touch it enough
guys I'm on xplane 11 but the pitch and roll aren't working
Any more details? Does it happen on all planes? Did it use to work and then broke?
I use Xplane11 almost daily and it's fine
let's see if this gpu can handle msfs
wow it actually runs
surprising
I was really not expecting it to even run
Is 2020 still better than 2024?
Still waiting for the new career update to be able to get all the certs
I don't remember msfs taking 3 hours to download
I give up with this GPU man it can't handle anything 🥀
Nah
atleast for me
except for that some liveries just dont show up in the game, even when theyre marked as fs24 compatible
anyway
how do I make simbrief give me a eastwards flightpath from hong kong to london
if that's even possible
bro what
wait until bro realizes that ryanair only uses 737s
Based on the top-selling all new A350, the A350F brings latest-generation efficiency and choice to the large freighter market. With unbeatable efficiency in terms of fuel burn, CO₂ emissions* and economics, the A350F is the only freighter capable of meeting the latest ICAO requirements.
More info: https://aircraft.airbus.com/en/aircraft/freig...

new 777 livery
is there a way to do 4K screenshots in MSFS?
are you kidding me, it happened again
the sim is reading the celsius METAR temp as fahrenheit
it thinks its 30 degrees F in dallas in august
i think we should coin a new term, "roadtrip flight", where the taxi feels like it takes longer than the flight itself
a good example is KDFW to LFPG, you're in taxi for a solid 15 mins at either airport without any trafifc
landing in a warm & sunny knoxville
Checked your hardware in the xp settings window? gust lock or similar?
Aboard the SSJ again for a flight back to Moscow
No free business this time but economy’s fine enough for an hour of flight
6F, space+, plenty of legroom here and it cost me next to nothing xD
Hope the updated Headwind SSJ comes soon, cause for now I think it’s simply the FBW 320 cockpit
Once they do get the new cockpit out, I’ll probably get a few flights in it
Ngl the ipad fits the MAX more
The Boeing one would look better on the NG imo
Or on the older triples
the crazy thing is that the EFB they modelled is the boeing stock option one iirc, so its technically not inaccurate
but i dont think ive seen any aircraft within the last decade that doesnt have an ipad for an EFB
bout damn time
the ipad is very modern and big touchscreen, visually it fits a lot more with the max 8 tbh
having these big cockpit displays with this EFB that looks like it came out of the very first NGs is so weird
Yeah not to mention it sucks to use it too
Just did a quick Moscow - St. Petersburg - Moscow roundtrip in the A319
In about 4 hours I’ll have to leave to take a flight in reality
Welp, I’m about to be in Sheremetyevo for the 3rd time this week, but this time for a nice 6 hours in a 737 xD
4 days ago I got lucky flying Rossiya and got reseated to business class, today that happened again with Aeroflot lol
I wonder when russian airlines will finally run out of airplane parts
lets hope trump manages to stop the war somehow
Some pics from the flight
It's clearly satirical

Can i make a report about a user not within this discord?
Sorry for the ping
I need to report someone for being a nonce and a doxer
You can report them to discord and possibly get their account banned
alreadyd one
We can't really do anything about a user that's not in this server
#off-topic
Headed back home
Wow those graphics are fire
man I wanna play msfs again 🥀
So turns out I now live literally around 5km away from the crash site of UPS 006
wait what?
Yeah, I wouldn’t say if I lived in some scarcely-populated area
boo
Dubai airport seems kinda dangerours ngl
@runic hare do u collect miles
All those buildings around it
amex miles started sucking and so did lufthansa miles & more
they're barely worth anything anymore
if some pilot decides to pull an Air India, the plane would just fly into a building
i have like 100k miles and barely can affored return in eco without paying 400eur ontop
useless
i was thinking about avious mayhaps but theres literally almost no carrier out of germany that utlizies it
jal does for japan but i dont take them enough (plane sucks there)
the touchdown zone is quite far behind
How does one afford to fly that much anyway
work 40 hours a week with 8 24 hours shifts a month and end up with 4k on the hand
24 hour shift???????
What??
i can sleep there of course when theres nothing to do at night
it's usually not a full 24 hours of constant work
i also dont pay for my flights to japan alot of times because my family covers those
It only has a few years left to live anyway
My theory is they'll rip up part of it and leave it as an exclusive, VIP, Emirates-only airport
Are they building a new one
Kinda
yes
Expanding an old one
dubai world wasnt it
Al Maktoum is much further away from the city centre, for now is dominated by cargo and only has 1 runway
They want to move everything there and expand it into a 5-runway hub
Dubai World Centre technically, although for now still Al Maktoum International Airport I think
They want to expand it to handle something between 160 and 260 million passengers annually
Meanwhile for now the main airline in there is Emirates SkyCargo
i dont really understand how they wanna do it yet
but its the UAE sooooooooo
they plastered a modern city up in like 20 years lol
I think they haven't yet learned about physics, time and limited resource supply, so they can just build everything in 2 days and it'll work
well they arent as bad as china
i enjoyed dubais skyline
cool city
marina is the best part abt it
I mean, that's why I said and it'll work
lmfao
Cause in China that's not a guarantee lol
Honestly that looks like Istanbul but worse and better at the same time
Oops ping
istanbul is a TERRIIBLE airport
And if you know me, you'll know I HATE Istanbul International
100000000% valid opinion
I once had like an hour-long discussion with a friend which was more of a monologue about how much is wrong with that thing
I don't really have a certain favourite airport, many are competing for that place, and it's easy to compete for it
But my least favourite?
Sorry no, no competition, that one is not changing
i hate frankfurt
personal grudge
abysmal to transfer in, especially when short on time
and overall just ugly and old
Honestly I just wonder what they'll do with EFTA once all that is done
whast efta
Cause it's right nearby
Emirates Flight Training Academy
ahhh
Cause having a flight school (even an elite one that costs 182k$) near such a busy airport doesn't sound too safe
and a position at emirates i hope lol
And that covers accommodation and 3x daily meals for the whole 2 years
Quite likely
Thought about going for it myself tbh, I might in the future if I get the money
182k is so much though
Yeah
as much as id like to but aviation is turning into a 'worse' direction imo
we missed the primetime
Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if accommodation was like half of that though
Can still always get an ATPL, move to Alaska and fly 80-year-old DC-6s xD
Or move to Colombia and fly Aerosucre if you have nothing to lose
Eh tbh 737 Originals have another 20 until they're 80 xD
god man
Is it even 20, might be something like 25
time flies
I reckon we'll be able to find airlines that fly 737s and A320s for like 40-50 more years
Yeah major ones will move away to newer planes
And tbh those newer planes might end up being ugly, we don't know yet
But these will still fly, they'll just get moved to smaller carriers
What's sad is that relatively soon all 727s and stuff will be gone
we msised the golden age of aviation
I have quite a few avios from random stuff
Seesh they really upped the graphics
Tbh I’ve never tried the DC-3, but my opinion of the DC-6 is quite simple - it’s much harder to operate, requires a lot more mental capacity, and as a result it’s definitely not a plane for every day. But when you do get a good flight in it, it feels so much more rewarding
do u use cc
or how do avios work
You can get avios for so much stuff over here now
Get food delivered? You get some. Frequent shopper at Sainsbury’s? You get some.
Like I mean if you spend £50 in Sainsbury’s you can convert the nectar points you get to 250 avios ish
It depends on what the current deal is
But like a month of food shopping for 2 people and your gonna get about half of a one way flight so it adds up
But that being said you also get more from the avios that you have flying BA as opposed to JAL, AA or Qatar
It also helps having a GF who works for British Airways because I get club upgrades for free essentially even if I’m traveling by myself and they are all added to my BA account
If your gonna be using them then it’s better to be smart, use them for Iberia or BA because you can get a lot more from them
Like I got a MacBook Pro last gen for stupid cheap in Black Friday. I got 4011 avios just for that
Even though I didn’t pay the equivalent in curries
I’m not 100% sure but I think Europe - Asia is best served with avios
I really need to start getting enrolled in some program like that
Both for rail and air travel
I wishhh
Yeah but for taking JAL for at most 10-11 times a year pn short routes doesnt suffice it imo
How much are flights for avios
you can get BER-LHR return for about 20000
idk about iberia
i think its about the same
its about 20000 for a one way to new york depending on demand
i use them mainly for upgrades and inflight extras
Wtffff
Thats so goood
I remember seeing it and goinf "huh?"
but yeah thats a pretty standard fare for the lower demand flights
like wednesday at about 12
also, avios for vueling are fucking excellent deals
I did santiago last year for 12560 return
idk if they still do it
couple months ago we missed a flight back from palma with work
they wouldnt pay for another airline and they wanted to fly us back via Luxemborg to stansted
I booked a one way with Vueling with avios last min and got it for something like 17k
bliss
i only have like 5000 left now but I'm getting them back up
it keeps getting worse for eagle dynamics somehow
yeah, this has been known for a little while but i didn't expect M2M to go public with it
it's kinda gross that ED double dips third parties and just sells their stuff on in their professional version without any compensation
Do FedEx md-11's fly outside of north America anymore?
All the flights I found on flight radar 24 were flying from north America to north America
Extremely rare instance of me doing present day flights

Flight status, tracking, and historical data for F-GSTB 18-Aug-2025 (TLS / LFBO-SNR / LFRZ) including scheduled, estimated, and actual departure and arrival times.
They fly them globally, they still have some legs on them, so fedex still uses their range
Especially from anchorage and Honolulu to points west in Asia
FedEx does the same thing as UPS, they release their departures at night and in waves, so if you go into playback and look at FedEx MD-11s overnight, you’ll see a ton more than in the day

cant stand how the only good B-17 in any flight sim is FSX
i've tried on-and-off to get into FSX, but it is so damn hard, especially trying to do it casually with an xbox controller instead of setting up hardware
plus one of the only good DC-10s, and L1011s
the mighty 8th is even worse as far as confusing controls and stuff goes, and its not really much of a flight simulator as it is a pure B-17 simulator
actually, trying FSX again after playing xplane, the control setup is identical (just even more simple), especially with axis controls
I kinda overran
Wayyyyy out of my comfort zone
oh yeah, speaking of B-17s, this seemed to have flown under everyones radar (pun not intended)
khamsin and philip ubben (dev of the T-6G) are remastering the B-17 for XP12, including an accurate honeywell C-1 autopilot
khamsin also removed the XP11 B-17 from his gumroad store fairly recently, so that may indicate that it might be ready for a release sooner rather than later
considering that it's been 4 full months since it was announced, and it was in development long before that, i could see it releasing late 2025/early 2026
isn't he also doing a B-36?
so uh
this is intresting
not even intentional
I ain't flying to the same airport sadly
I was so close to london bro
Career mode is still unfinished you can't get the heavy airliner cert either
Anyone here had issues with installing the TFDi MD-11? For some reason it really gets stuck on installing navdata for me
The installer is just sitting like this for some 30 minutes now
the FSX camera system still makes me want to eat shards of glass, but otherwise, fun
the terrain is pretty awful too, but i dont think anything can be done about that, there's no autoortho for FSX
ORBX
doesnt make it autoorth type of good
but it does alot
gives me big il-2 1946 vibes
unsurprising honestly
it still pisses me off seeing how many people reply to "what sim do you play?" polls with 2024, like who are you???
how is it that a majority of the flight sim playerbase has moved onto 2024 when the data clearly shows they havent??

the base pack is $60, the vector pack is $40, and the openLC stuff is $35 each
for that price, the default scenery is just fine
FSX still had FSX prices tbh
Nah really?
Wait guys does the 737-800 auto put the flight path after you set the sids and stars
Cuz if no I know what I'm doing immediately
landed it for the first time, went very smoothly
the hardest part by far is taxi, there is no traditional tiller, only differential braking and half on/off throttles
It flies like a dream, I hand flew it the entire trip and it looked like autopilot did it from the track on Volanta, which I’ve heard is characteristic for the B-17s
Definitely getting very used to FSX too, I still want to get chaseplane eventually, but other than that it’s not been too bad to get into
i havent entirely decided if im going to continue with FSX either, i may jump to P3D, so i dont want to invest massive money into it right now
plus there's the khamsin one for xplane 12 coming out soon, so i may end up going with that, or even the microprose one for MSFS (whenever that's going to release)
Do p3d
Honest to god
You‘ll thank me eventually
Mostly because it graphically isnt terrible
And from p3d v5 you have volumetric clouds
And openlc included
And isn’t P3D like the best physics-wise?
X-Plane is the best physics wise afaik, P3D still uses lookup tables
I'm starting to give up with these transatlantics
twice now my engines cought fire for no reason
I feel like FSX is better in some regards than MSFS
Don't invest money in neither of them
It's all outdated tech with very little hope of being supported long term
this is also v true
I use FSX quite a bit and I'm only using freeware stuff
Man I want the A300B4 so bad
Sameee
AAL bare metal is so nice
A couple weeks ago I barely resisted buying the MD-11
Now I bought it almost by accident
Will at least somewhat satisfy the need for polished aluminium
Hey, I have good taste 99% of the time!
(Although tbf I do want to do a sizeable Iran trip because with some luck I’ll be able to check off A310, A340-300, MD-80 and BAe 146 at the same time)
a 146 would be super cool
Or if not both A310 and A340, then A310 and A300-600
I agree
Politics aside, Iran is a super cool country for aviation
They have 742s and A3B4s still flying freight
It's a fascinating country overall
this aircraft is banned in the UK
some WW2-era nose art is WILD
the sally B is a restored aircraft too, i thought it was kind of discouraged to use straight-up nude nose art on restored aircraft (even if its accurate)
This almost went bad
Only three months ago, I couldn't even tell what V1 means or what the APU does. But now it has turned into a new hobby, next to all the train stuff. This game is beautiful.
Does anyone know where would Continental/United/American deliver 772s? I assume it’d be LA/SF to put them in service as quickly as possible?
What mods Are good for the a320neo?
Redoing a flight from a bit ago
Second leg of the delivery, Sharjah - Paro
Last time I had to modify the in-game time because I was approaching Paro afterdark, so I decided that the flight doesn't count
ive been wanting to make this livery for months, i only finally got around to it now that i have the accusim B-17
there's only 1 photo of it, so i had to make a guess as to how it looked based on other B-17s in the squad, but the aircraft's tail number and letter were recorded so that is accurate
the only real fictional thing on it right now is that i added the nose art to both sides, some crews did it that way, others didnt, i did it so it would be easier to get screenshots
first transcontinental and first transatlantic in 1 flight
2 birds 1 stone ah situation
Migrated over the 2024 now with SU3 and also it's my first time flying the BFU
Damn is all I'll say
How’s 2024?
I’m considering it
But it’s expensive
But at the same time, there are several planes on the horizon (ini A340-300, PMDG 74s and the Aerial Simulations 707) that are planned as 24-only that I really want
Hi, can you skip the preparation Part on the FBW A320neo? It sucks and sometimes doesnt work
I'm gamepassing it at the moment but I've found it lovely
I only use 24 as a secondary sim, but as far as I can see its superior to 20 in every way. Heard some having probs, but not experienced any
The main issue I have is flow and chaseplane not supporting it yet
First Flight with the RJ done
really easy transition from the BAe146, not sure if it was worth the money even though I paid less than 40€. but still... cool plane, enjoyable to fly, I'm happy 😄
there are many routes and operators that are RJ only, so it's not like it doesn't have any purpose
hot
And it’s Northwest too, lovely
Tbf I don’t use either, so I guess as soon as it starts going on sale I can look into it
any intresting flights that take less than an hour?
I want to do something short but interesting
If you want something Fenix based I always like doing Charlotte to Raleigh
TFS-AGA Ryanair
once you get FSX rocking and rolling, it's easily up there with xplane 11
extremely space efficient too, i have a good chunk of content installed, and i think im still under 35GB
my wings look like theyre flapping from the turbulence
its weird, whatever ambience chaseplane or the 747 has makes it sound like the stall stick shaker is going off when the aircraft is creaking for turbulence, so i always look down in panic that im going to just fall out of the sky
i dont have FSrealWX set up, and FSX doesnt have a native METAR display for non-live weather, so im going to land in the blind as far as winds and altimeter go
after this flight im going to see about setting it up
bullshit, it was such a soft landing that i didnt even realized i touched down
if i didnt have the audio cue of the wheels hitting the tarmac, i would have thought i floated the entire runway
its funny because chaseplane in FSX has the same issue as chaseplane in MSFS, the camera rotates with the pitch of the aircraft, so the landing flare gets kind of shitty pictures on the ground
It really is BS how volanta calculates landing fpm
Like I don't think I did a positive landing at O'Hare man
First 772 delivery
hot
Bye Greenland
Can't see it that well but passed what I think is the northernmost airport in the world
Can't see Norway, but it's there
And across the border, so now I can actually say 'Welcome home!'
Keep always flying into Moscow at night
I suppose you're flying the long route around Norway and all the countrys?
Nope, it's a delivery so it's just the most optimal route
Or sometimes just the route I want
Starting in the US anyway, so why avoid other countries
And in reality this plane was delivered to Aeroflot in 1998 anyway
es geht nach Sylt
Looks like a Chinese routing, like how they have restricted airspaces, all over the place
Oh yeah, I got orbx global + orbx vector and FSweatherX lite set up
Also, sorry UK people but you’re going to be executed because you saw the nose art
The funny thing is that the sally B is literally restored and operable in the UK, do you have to show your license to go into the museum???
What if it’s out flying, you gotta show your license if you’re in the vicinity of where it’s overflying
@ mods nudity ban hammer plz
all jokes aside FSX is proper worth it if you can put up with the OOM errors with decent scenery and decent aircraft
the physics in FSX feel way better than MSFS, which is kind of funny
depends on the specific aircraft i guess
its all lookup tables for all good aircraft
the majestic q4 has external software for the physics
they can be really accurate
the good old times

i am now realizing where FSX's drawback is
there is no KMEM
all of the free solutions are extremely outdated, though i did at least find out how to use ADE to find proper parking positions
very cool
i guess i could use ADE to make it myself, but id have to change a LOT of taxiways and parking on the west side
just go on avsim and sort by newest
im not particularly picky on the actual visuals of scenery, only as long as the buildings, gates, taxiways, and runways are accurate
MD11 my beloved
DC-10
MD-11 has winglets and is longer, DC-10 has no winglets and is shorter
i wish we had a MD-10, which was fedex's rebuild of the DC-10 to introduce the MD-11 systems, but nobody has done it yet
nobody has really done a DC-10 proper either, the justflight one is pretty garbage, but it does look nice
IIRC the JustFlight was originally the CLS DC10
How does it happen that the only Memphis in MSFS is BMWorld & AMSim
Fortunately they are better than they used to be, iirc
Like there's no way it's not a highly-requested airport, I'm sure lots of people fly FedEx
Aren't they also quite controversial
Oh yeah, didn't they get in trouble for plagiarism or something?
Like iirc there was a bunch of drama with them with both BMWorld and AMSim separately
I'm pretty sure there was also something about piracy
Plus tbh, the cost of their stuff, at least on the marketplace... I mean, Flightbeam/Drzewiecki/MK Studios airports are all cheaper
If Flightbeam is cheaper than your products then you're overpriced
Flightbeam is premium pricing for premium quality
Well... there are some exceptions
Drzewiecki Paine was for me more expensive than Flightbeam SFO
But it's, well, Drzewiecki Paine
Right now Memphis is at least on a bit of a sale, but idk if I wanna buy it
But at the same time, not really any other choice
Default is unusable
At least from the one landing I did there
Because the taxiway bridges that should lead over the interstate don't exist
So you literally fall into the cutting and there's nothing you can do about it
Fair
I'm not too into either UPS or FedEx, I'm more for smaller cargo airlines
Like NAC, Aloha, Cargojet etc
But I did get the MD-11 and FedEx and UPS are the main users
Oh yeah, Everts too
But Everts is like the niche part of niche
I do have the DC-6 and the DC-9 though, it's lovely
I'm kinda in the process of setting up a VA-like aliance between several small cargo airlines and Everts is of course part of that. In fact to start off it's Everts and the 3 I mentioned above
But as always it's going slow, I'll need to learn how to make liveries before I can go much further
Btw where's UPS based? I think they have even more MD-11s than FedEx now don't they
Isn't it somewhere not far from Memphis too
I want to say Indianapolis
Ah, it's Louisville, Kentucky
It's a combined UPS hub, international airport and national guard field.
Ah fair
Yeah I remembered it was like in the same state or in one of the adjacent ones
Oh yeah
Now descending
So I have an idea for tomorrow night
Seattle - Anchorage - Seattle, real-time
As ASA65 then ASA66
10 takeoffs, 10 landings, around 15:45 total time
That would in reality be Seattle - Ketchikan - Wrangell - Petersburg - Juneau - Anchorage - Cordova - Yakutat - Juneau - Seattle
Anyone believe I can do that? XD
I'm not totally set
But
Almost
what kind of museum piece are you flying
cessna 140
it really did not work
which kind of sucks, because otherwise it looks kind of fun to fly
its funny, because on the outside it looks like a fairly generic cessna, but on the inside its like 1950s car dashboard
i love flying old planes, because sometimes volanta auto-picks pictures of it being scrapped
huh, the concorde has a custom volanta icon
appproach was enough to delete the flight, i had no idea how to get it to do an ILS properly, but the landing itself was great
Finally off to Paro
Second attempt and I landed in Paro
Had to redo the flight because the first time the game froze and I basically crashed onto the runway
MSFS 2024, is there any flight tracker etc to keep a log of what we fly?
Volanta
simtoolkitpro too, i havent used it all that much, but it stores flights locally rather than on a server, which some people might prefer
volanta is the best by far though
i was a long-time subscriber to volanta premium, which says a lot for just a flight tracking app tbh
You can export data from Volanta and put it into simtoolkitpro too, so it’s not like you’re stuck with one
Though the Volanta export isn’t very detailed, it’s basically just the routes themselves and aircraft data, so it’s not a seamless transition
Ugh I hate being late, I'm 3 hours late on this milk run 😭
That's because on final on the first attempt MSFS lagged and decided to yank the plane into full left bank while I was at 20ft above the runway xD
Welp, being late means a 165-knot flaps 15 final into a short runway
And here is Ketchikan
Sitting here ready for the departure
I'll push in 5 minutes I think
11:40 Alaska time
For an 11:45 departure
Exactly 3 hours behind schedule
This would look and feel much better if I had GSX tbh
Okay so this is quite nice
If you start the engines again shortly after shutting down, the EGT will still be high, and the engines will spool up faster
VNAV for whatever reason decided not to work on the last flight and still doesn't
Eh, being more manual isn't a problem for me
Also I just understood the scale of the delay I'm in
This delay means that my planned 4am (potentially 3:45 if pushing it) arrival into Anchorage is now 7am, maybe 6:30
I'll need luck
Wrangell done
This is supposed to be a no-pushback stand, and it would've been if I had GSX
Also if I had GSX I'd have Alsaka-branded equipment and not PMDG
So tbh I spent too little time at each airport
So this doesn't really count as a real-time milk run
I spent like 15 minutes in each one
the new xplane forums search system SUCKS
you can only do 1 search every 30 seconds
but changing pages in a search counts as a search, or trying to fix a search counts as a new search
going back a page counts as a search
Since when is runway 26 in Juneau ever in use
It literally has no approaches
But they're using it right now
What even is that
That is something I'm gonna have to do now...
Honestly eyebrow windows would've helped in doing that
Guess I'll redo it cause the flight path doesn't look nice
i was wondering why fsrealwx lite wasnt working anymore, it worked once and then it stopped
its because theyre moving servers, the day after i downloaded it
huh, only just realized im on flight #150
giving the TFDi 717 a spin
for flight 200 i might do a special livery or something
flight 150 was originally going to be that fedex DC-10 flight, if the approach wasnt so nightmarish
okay, the G rating in FSX is absolutely busted, because that landing was not almost 2Gs lmao
you know its a good landing when you get the 5 callout
it's kind of funny how you can see my burnout cycle
Hi everyone, I am having some problems with the Fly by wire A32nx stable version . I am on MSFS 2020 and I cant start the boarding. I dont have the button for it to start. I already tried reinstalling the mod but that didn’t work, any ideas what I can do?
Love this livery
Niiiice
Not really flight sim related, but enjoy
It really does suck, spirit is a fantastic airline, it’s just that their reputation makes people stay away
I’ve always said this about Spirit, if you’re looking to get from A to B on time, spirit will get you there safely, quickly, and cheaply, just don’t expect anything more than bus amenities
Plus they serve our local regional airport in A320s, we literally went down to Orlando from a regional airport with 1 gate, only having to deal with crowds at 1 airport was so fucking awesome
Redoing yesterday's flight
For some reason pack 2 is not operational
Even though it doesn't show up on the EFB as a failure
Off to Tivat now
The T/D definitely wasn't set too late so I'm definitely not full flaps, slats and gear down at 20k
And there we go, perfectly stabilised on final
I adore this airport
anyone use the sparky 747-400?
I tried to, it is horrible
The VNAV is completely broken, it’ll overshoot your selected altitude by thousands of feet, it over/underspeeds, it’s just not good at all
its not that bad
I've had some really good experiences with it
works fine
I don’t know how some people have good experiences, because it just flat out doesn’t work for me
i mean you do have really bad luck with flight sim
I had that one takeoff too where it felt like the engines on one side weren’t working, and I ended up slamming the engines into the runway on takeoff because I was at max yaw
its buggy but its not terrible
