#Flight Sims (MSFS, P3D, X-Plane, DCS, FS98...)
1 messages · Page 34 of 1
some of these things are ridiculous bruh
https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/comments/1ku8rkn/fa18ified_the_sim/
can't lie though cool as a mf
8 thousand dollars
quite rusty at flying the e-jets, but its still fun as ever
when it works, it works awesome, when it doesnt work, its the worst DLC in any simulator to ever be developed (including big rigs over the road racing)
no VNAV still sucks on the simulation side, but its not hard at all to actually just do it yourself, otherwise the aircraft flies pretty awesome
MSFS isnt really the sim for regional jets either, the default airport gen is so horrifically bad, if your destination is some hole-in-the-wall regional airport with 1 runway, chances are the parking is going to be nonexistant
you just have to actually use your brain to plan descent rather than falling asleep and letting VNAV do it all for you
not realistic, but you should be doing it anyway
there are still a few bugs that should have been fixed ages ago, which is frustrating, like this is just lazy UV mapping
if you have the source model, it would take 2 seconds to create a new UV island that's mapped to its own thing
the cockpit door still wont open/close if the battery is turned on too, if you forget to close it before you switch on the batteries then you're going to be flying the entire flight with it open
i dont even know what's happening here, it might be the fault of whoever made the livery
Thinking of getting the CRJ
sexy
i ended up crashing this flight so bad, funnily enough, because of no VNAV
needless to say im looking at the xcrafts E175 now
i think i might actually end up waiting for the A-10C to go on sale, or at least once i actually get my first paycheck at my new job, because $80 for a fighter aircraft hurts regardless of how good it is
(i say as i buy the $105 e-jets package for xplane)
How?
i was coming in way too high and way too fast, and i both didnt want to/didnt know how to do a go around in the FSS E-jets, so i just forced it to land. wouldnt capture the glideslope either, so i was manually piloting it all the way down, having no idea what was working and what wasnt, it was not fun
VNAV in planes like the Ejets usually only tells you when to descend, you should always have the minimum safe altitude dialed up on the MCP
Oh, next time just add some track miles
i mean, next time im going to be flying in the x-craft ones, so i wont have to worry about a repeat incident like that
Don't rule it out
As far as I've heard from real pilots VNAV in the Ejets is trash, also high energy situations can happen for a wide variety of reasons
IMO it's better to learn to deal with them
i mean, i have 100x more confidence in the x-crafts simulation than the FSS one, which was a massive part of it
i know for a fact that i can do a realistic go-around in the x-crafts one, no telling what the FSS one would do, so i was just "fuck it, we're forcing it on the ground"
As long as you have control of the aircraft and you can see the runway it doesn't matter how good the systems are
i had schrodingers control - the AP and AT lights were on, but i was manually flying it, and i was trying to troubleshoot that while also trying to land, not knowing if that was normal or a bug
That sounds like the situation where you should have just flown straight and level at a safe altitude
But I'm not here to judge or teach other people, sorry that happened, I hope you have a better time with the x-craft. Although yeah, I've not heard great things about them
But being better than the FSS is a low bar
i ended up getting the full e-jets family pack, you get all 5 for the price of two basically, and i was thinking of getting the E-190 eventually to do jetblue ops, so it kind of works out
plus it was $50 off, and i can say i took part in a sale today
its also for both XP11 and XP12, so i can upgrade sims without losing anything, which is always good
Tbh the 727 is rather nice
The first plane I had to write off in my MSFS fleet lol
Was delivering OY-SAS to Sterling, crashed on landing at CYHZ
Halifax is a fun place I gotta say
Only one ILS approach out of 4. That runway was not in use at the time, so had to go for the LOC in a gusting crosswind. What happened next is a huge skill issue on my part - I don’t really know how to deal with crosswinds
the FSS 72s are awesome, but their e-jets are a joke to say the least
i got that new pittsburgh city pack for MSFS too, im excited to do some sightseeing flights around there
I hope they will become better eventually
Cause regional jets are sometimes fun
its fun, it changes up the operations a bit, plus you get to fly to a bunch of regional airports
don't worry, flying with keyboard and mouse makes you invulnerable to any skill issue diagnosis
Thanks lol
Not invulnerable to hull losses though xD
And I kinda have a thing where if I crash a registration and it can’t be repaired, I can’t fly it again
I could change the reg, but no idea how to. Asked a friend of mine to do it for me so eventually will have Sterling again
Yes
i havent actually done a flight in it yet because ive been troubleshooting the regular issues that come with getting a new plen
launch game, "oh shit i forgot to update navigraph", close game, launch game, "oh shit i forgot to save the flight plan file", close game, etc
Doing my first flight in the 777F now
Of course it’s a delivery to FedEx, flying light from Paine to Memphis
Nice ❤️
Is there actually no good Memphis in this sim
The default is awful, and looking across the stores the only one is bmworld and amsim
bmworld and amsim is the best option unfortunately
far better than default at least
awesome, started my takeoff roll in the e-jets, and i crash halfway down the runway
otherwise, runs good, controls feel okay, im not sure about AP/AT disconnect yet, but usually ill play around with those in cruise just incase something goes wrong
sometimes you can use trim up/down to disconnect both AP and AT, sometimes AT can be forced off if your using buttons as your throttle, idk
for some reason i was getting a single cue FD on takeoff too, i believe they said it should be the crossbars for takeoff and landing, and in cruise its singlecue
i got the mango soundpack for the e-jets too, i honestly didnt even know they made one, and im 100% convinced after messing with the MD-11 soundpack
for $15 for all 4 too, good stuff
extremely short flight from DCA to PIT
the mango soundpack was absolutely worth it, its awesome
for some reason the FD was still single cue on takeoff, and it was in FLCH on the climb instead of VNAV PTH
the difference between xcrafts and FSS is literally like going from hot wheels cars to driving an F1 car in an actual race
not even comparable
something isnt right, trying to get it to follow the descent path is not working, it hits TOD and just overshoots it in ALT hold even though its purple, which should mean its being worked by VNAV
now its not following any sort of approach at all, wtf
i dont know what its trying to do, it REALLY wants to go this way
of course just when i go to praise xcrafts, the onslaught of bugs start 🥲
i might have figured it out, i didnt use the TOGA button on takeoff, which might have put everything out of sequence in the autopilot
using the TOGA button automatically arms VNAV, LNAV, the proper crossbar FD, AT TO mode, all of that stuff
oh hell yeah, the FA cabin lighting panel works, as well as the seatbelt and smoking signs
i dont know what the fuck happened, i just hit over an hour in this flight and both of my engines died, and my yokes dissapeared
i have no yoke control, nothing, im just in a gradual left turn descent, so i cant even get the engines or APU restarted because i cant control my altitude
couldnt quite make it back in time for a diversion to KSLC
The vnav is buggy, also the fmc doesnt have the ability to hold over a fix
the lineage 1000 is insane, the entire cabin is interactible from the reading light armrest controls, to the TV screens and everything
normally i dont particularly care about private jets, but i might do a few flights in the lineage 1000
if i had enough to buy a private jet though, i would definitely be the one flying it, or at least sitting in the cockpit for the flight
If I had the money I would be the one sleeping in the bed. Giving it "wake me up on final my man" 😆
oh fuck yeah
it doesnt look very good, but its cool that we finally got the clipper
Folks, anyone yet tried switching computers without reinstalling MSFS? I have it on an external drive, plugged it into the new laptop, and the game works, yet is completely broken. Any plane I try to fly, it spawns me in a 737 at Renton (because that is the first thing I spawned when I started the game on this laptop), and the plane isn’t initialising either
i'd reinstall any planes on the new install, make sure that they're actually tied to the new pc
Fair, yeah
I reckon it’s some DRM kicking in really
Though it’s weird that the default planes don’t work either, it still spawns me in Renton with a 737. Probably will end up reinstalling the whole sim
I just opt reinstalling the sim tbh, just got a new pc recently & wanted to make sure everything worked & affirm it did
I know the PMDG 737 likes to throw a hissy fit every once in a while with no landing gear & yoke to the left, but otherwise it works fine
CSS droppingn today
25 minutes left
Gonna be flying it now
Though has to be on my older laptop, cause new one still isn’t sorted out
Would stream if I could, but only have discord on my phone
is it out?
send some pictures in if u can
and give a little review with a ping when u did a flight
im very very interested
Will try to
Dinner first xD
I’ll be sure to provide feedback as detailed as I can
First off, payment: they promised direct support of Russian cards, which I will try out now
Although let me take some time for a meal, their servers seem to be bit overwhelmed right now anyway xD
Which looks like is the standard for MSFS lol
Servers are officially down
Just finished dinner, well, will read through the documentation meanwhile
Awesome, now the xcrafts ejets are blue screening my PC
Will get it in a couple minutes, will keep the channel updated on how the plane is
Installing
prepare to be dissapointed
Was already bit tired today to deal with a new plane, have a lot of time tomorrow
yep, now im getting working VNAV, you have to hit the TOGA button on takeoff, otherwise youll be out of sequence and it wont automatically work
i dont know if thats realistic or not
i love flying into an airport with default scenery and realizing that the ILS freqs arent set up
managed to make a nice visual approach, clear day too, but its not preferred
Its probably not that bad
usually i hate it when the flight sim community blindly goes after a product to say its garbage, but i feel like they might be onto something this time
Eh, half the complaints are unreasonable
At least for now I’ve not noticed any issues with the model and the textures
Honestly the community basically just says it’s garbage because 1) they don’t like the pricing model and 2) delayed release
The fact that their servers went down today only makes it worse, even though these same people will defend PMDG for having server troubles on releases
That
Accurate
U see half of the stuff being released
The css isnt trash
Theur pricing model is weird but oh well
I rather have a mid looking plane w banging systems than another ejet
Im gonna keep it real
And with the pricing model, again, I can totally understand the complaint. I myself hate subscriptions with a passion, so if I do like it tomorrow, I will then buy it forever for that $120. And $120 is a lot, genuinely. Especially that for now it’s just the 735. When it will include the 734 and the 733? It will be absolutely reasonable in my opinion. People just don’t want to buy a promise and I get that
I mean
The 736/737/738/739 together are upwards of $220 iirc
One thing I can say about css and their promises though: they promised ability to purchase the plane from Russia directly, they delivered it. And not even at a terrible exchange rate
US airways hits a bit different after watching Sully yesterday
one of the best airline liveries
Well, I’m not that much of a fan, but it is nice
its very sharp, i like the blue and the red, with the simplified flag logo and the sublte swooshes, its awesome
Well it is great, there are just a lot that are better imo
im also sort of biased towards the (almost) all-airbus fleet
god damn i forgot how good squadrons was (technically a flight sim
)
its just so weird because its space controls, sometimes it makes more sense for it to be straight joystick instead of the regular flight sim inverted style
The latest US Airways livery is the weakest IMO
I think both of those are better
(also special mention)
737-200 ❤️
Welp, for now I have no complaints about the 735 apart from the fact it doesn’t let me change the default aircraft state to turnaround instead of c&d for some reason, the option just doesn’t change in the EFB. But well, that’s fine
And toolbar pushback gets a bit confused with it lol
Startup seems absolutely reasonable, haven’t found any issues
Takeoff had a giant skill issue, but well, I’m not used to the plane at all
it doesnt look bad
As for its looks, I really don’t get any complaints. People say the model is bad, the textures are bad, I don’t agree with any of that
Anyone know any solution for msfs 2020 not starting after the latest update? Uninstalled and reinstalled, but the progress bar when starting just gets halfway along and it quits
Default install
Do all the usual stuff with the Xbox app and signing out and back in
might as well update gpu driver
oh yeah, the CSS installer is confirmed to be an fslabs situation
it reads the date of your windows install, it renames a few utilities, and what security settings you have set in edge
this is how one of the CSS devs responded
theyre also a russian company registered in the UAE, make of that what you will
Being russian and headquartered elsewhere is pretty normal
Tbh antiviruses often detect stuff that’s actually normal, I’ve had that with other apps. As for reading system installation data, I’m pretty sure it’s not the first time either
The other stuff does seem rather sus
Afaik reading some basic system data is rather normal, it will just tie the product down to one system. At least I’ve already experienced legitimate installations stopping working after I reinstalled windows, which indicates that those products were tied to that exact system
And that’s also indeed normal. I’ve already mentioned it about them. Most likely they fully reside in the UAE. A lot of people, especially those whose work was mainly computer-based, left after 2022
Yeesh. What is it about the flight sim community that makes developers do stuff like this.
Most likely again they just want to make it tied to one specific system
And reading some of the most basic system parameters is the simplest way to do that
Reading stuff, yes - edge security settings, though?
Iunno, I feel like a lot of these flight sim devs want to double dip and sell user data
It can't be massively profitable unless you're an inibuilds or orbx
Yeah, well, edge settings is a weird one
Cause if it is intentional… why? What could you possibly get from edge settings?
doesn't look like it
in that same reddit post there's someone that says he knows about cybersecurity, looks to be an untinerested party, and said this after a bit of back and forth
"The actual outcomes of the installer appear to be valid and legitimate, but the way they go about implementing it (e.g., unpacking and executing files in temporary folders) is a method that detection tools are trained to rightly identify as potentially suspicious. This can very likely be remedied by a more purposeful packaging of the installer, prebundling of the required runtimes, and overall simplification of the installer chain. What we see here is likely explained by some packaging defaults left in the Visual Studio configs and poorly managed dependencies that would take time and effort to unwind - something that they hopefully do."
of course, we don't know anything about this person, they could be a CSS shill, but that's also true for the OP being a hater or something
Idk, one of the CSS devs went in to give a whatabout-ism argument as their only statement on this so far
Yeah, communication from CSS has been a disaster since the very beginning, that doesn't make their installer a new test.exe
and I say this as someone that really hopes that (even though it feels awful to say) they really fail financially, it's either that or subscription becoming the new norm
As individual people and as a company I wish them the best (as long as they're not making me download something malicious or become very anti-consumer in the way they handle subscriptions), but I really hope people vote with their wallet against this.
Oh no no no, can we not have subscriptions please
Honestly as nice as it is to have an option to basically try out the plane for just $5, subs are just way too much of an uncertain way
When you buy something, you just have it. You keep it. Subscriptions are too dependant on the servers etc
Its 2024
*2025
Being a russian company = trying to hack u
You would be surprised
If your a small studio say 20k people buy your plane, that 20k worth of people’s data that they can sell adding up to about $1500-2000 per person per month.
As for piracy control, the FS community especially the Russian and Chinese side of it are very very very prone to software piracy. To put it bluntly you have a lot of “nerds” who don’t have a lot of money, they are gonna turn to piracy to get the planes they want to fly and the scenery they want to fly to.
The WW 737Max, Fenris A320 just in XP11
It happens all the time and there isn’t much devs can do about it other than put in super complex anti piracy measures and hope for the best
SASL3 for XP is a godsend because it’s really hard to crack it and you need to do it individually for each aircraft
MSFS doesn’t have an equivalent
So I’m not the only one who hasn’t totally moved to 2025 yet
Tbh on the Russian side it isn’t like that just in the flight sim community, it’s the same when it comes to other games
A lot of people just consider it normal to not pay
A big portion of those same people will then proceed to complain to support that their thing doesn’t work
Just how many people I’ve seen that ask for help fixing their RailWorks installs, “it is totally broken, this game is buggy, the devs should do more to fix it”, and it turns out to be just a download from some shady website and not an actual real install
On the flip side of that, we get loads of awesome freeware for russian/soviet stuff
Not in MSFS sadly
The cubs STOL abilities never cease to amaze reckon thats around 30 feet EGEP Papa Westray
I would suggest FS24 instead it's smaller in size and streamed which can give you better performace
Performance*
Literally me playing DCS
Fun
Msfs 2020 getting a hung error then msfs 2020 crashes its only happening using 3rd party content do i just need to uodate that content? Its not happening on msfs included content
FS24 is streamed, exactly. Hate that tbh, if I buy a game I want it to be downloaded. At least they’re adding an ability to download stuff in SU3. And as for performance… FS24 performing better than 20 sounds like some miracle, haven’t heard about anything like that even a single time
Ok got another reply from support re my msfs 2020 crashing after sending event log - crash was caused by nvidia driver. Just had to delete NGX folder and it works again. Thumbs up for their support
I like the streaming side of it saves that endless effing about with updates
Except that it doesn't
Because world updates are still going to be separate "downloads" apparently 🙃
back in the MD-11
completeing the home leg on vamsys, heading back to memphis
no TCAS surprisingly
even if its not a direct threat it should warn you of close traffic
KDEN from 37000ft
Taking my new toy round the pattern at Bergen
That looks like a beautiful airport
once you sort of understand the MD-11, you get to know that bouncing and somewhat hard landings are actually par for the course
freight does not complain
i also didnt realize i was landing onto a 9000ft runway in memphis, in a fully loaded MD-11, so i kind of wanted to get down now rather than later
are there any A350 routes that arent 8 billion hours long
Moscow - Vladivostok. Not 8 billion hours, just 8 xD
But being real, idk if 350s fly any short routes
Singapore - Kuala Lumpur gets A350s seemingly, under an hour
Singapore - Bangkok as well, around 2 hours
If 5-6 hours is fine for you, also Singapore - Shanghai and Singapore - Beijing
i was going to say, its either like 2 hours or 15 hours
Well which flight time do you want roughly? Around 4?
yeah, 4-6 hours
Well, some options from Singapore then
WSSS - RKSI is under 6 hours
WSSS - VOBL is just over 4
OMDB - VCBI is around 4
OMDB - DTTA is around 5, OMDB - LFLL is around 6
its terrifiying, just going onto flightradar24 and filtering by A350s, its literally like 15+ hour flights
UUEE - UAAA sometimes gets A350s, it’s around 4 hours
Well the vast majority will be of course
its funny, its not even like im against doing a flight that long, i just dont trust my power, PC, MSFS, or the A350 to make it that long
and then i could go all that way and get a landing so bad that i cant keep the flight
tbf can always deputise for another aircraft, thats what I did before the 772 released.. I just used the 77W on most of the 72 flights
from the one A350 flight I did since getting my new pc (KLAX-EKCH) it actually didn't throw a hissy fit even once, but unless im super bored I probably wouldn't fly the 350 again
I'm physically unable to do that 😭
used to do it loads back in P3D, 747 vice A320 yum
obviously now I try to use the actual type on most stuff I fly, helps that I don't really fly A350 dominated routes that often
if I ever do a long haul, its mostly just American Airlines or United Airlines shit
All my long hauls for now have been Aeroflot on one 77W
Less impressed with this after my first full flight - can barely see the HSI needle not sure if its an msfs or fss thing. Shame, cos she is such a joy to hand fly
I really don’t have any words
america come on bruh
i wonder whats going to happen when the "chemtrails" dont stop
airlines are going to get endlessly fined for contrails, and then theyre going to stop flying over louisiana completely is my guess
Just avoid the entire state
I don't think us states have the power to regulate what overflies them anyway, maybe they could regulate planes that land in their state, but even then I'm somewhat doubtful
If they actually narrowed down the chemtrail ingredients (which they obviously can't as they're not fucking real) then they could ban the sale of them in their state like CA is attempting with leaded avgas, but unless I'm mistaken that's really all they could do
It's going to depend 100% on wether it's a Federal or State matter, they'd have jurisdiction on the airspace above their territory (+territorial waters)
I mean, I most likely expect that to be just a vanity thing so that someone can say at some point "I've done this" without it actually having any consequence at all
Yeah, and I'm 90% sure it's federal and they're overstepping their bounds
Yup
the other way around, the state fines the airlines so much that they willingly dont overfly
alaskan is getting hawaiians 787-9s it seems
Given that a large portion of the B-52 fleet is based there, and those do actually have some fairly bad engine emissions... Good luck, Louisiana.
Check out our latest development version with a sneak peek of an ARC arrival into Lanzarote, Canary Islands.
mate
finally
I'd given up on ever expecting it
I’d given up so much on those that I bought the $100 x-crafts pack
Finally got MSFS to work on the new laptop
@reef isle sorry for ping, but iirc you have it - is the DC9 any good? I’m just looking for freighters, plus Everts did fly the thing and I like Everts, and iirc the DC9 unlike the maddog has actual freighter variants
No problem, yes I have the DC-9
it has freighter variants
It’s a shame the maddog doesn’t tbh
yeah 🫤
Is the DC decent to any degree? Cause the dev doesn’t have the best of reputations…
it's not too bad
it's flyable
That’s great to hear then
if you get it tell me because I have a custom flight model for it
Alright, will do
fun! xplane has had a knack of crashing completely randomly recently
i was trying to do a flight from MSP to SEA, and the levelup 737 was constantly crashing the game, and then the IRS would fault and never align, and then when i tried to restart the game to see if that would fix it, even more crashes
so, back to dusting off MSFS i guess
its funny, i actually prefer MSFS' control scheme because they allow you to do shift keys like DCS, but xplane's physics are second to none
i also hate booting up MSFS and then having to sort out what needs updated, or what new stuff has been released on flightsim.to, its a nightmare
Back in MSFS 2020 after not having touched the game in half a year. So far so good. 😅

Flying a bit of Everts now, an empty DC-6 between Anchorage and Fairbanks
Ngl, flying with nothing other than a heading to follow is fun, especially on lower flight levels. Makes you really pay attention to the surroundings
Aaand that flight ended in a terrible landing and a runway excursion
The DC-6 is going back into maintenance less than a month after being back in service
Bold of me to be setting up a virtual alliance that includes Everts if I can’t fly their most interesting plane
pretty good systems wise but the physics still need work
i think its worth it at 50$ for the full bundle
i got it for 70 before the v2 update
Ah, understandable
Yeah tbh $50 doesn’t sound too bad
On another note, does anyone know any good tutorials on livery creation? Preferably ones that start with the very basics and can teach someone who knows nothing xD
How's the iFly 737 these days? Worth purchasing?
It always was IMO
Far and away the best airliner flight model in MSFS
Alright, cool, that´s good to know, thanks. I read some comments about the flight model being quite twitchy but wasn´t sure how accurate those statements are.
Always has been quite calm for me
Throttles are a bit fast but otherwise a solid aircraft
that's actually a good point
I think engine behaviour has always been it's weakest point, not in terms of power/rate of climb, but I think they start a little bit too fast and also react really quickly, I think that last time I chatted with a friend of mine that knows a lot more than the 737 than me, I came off with the impression that engine perfomance is on the upper boundary of what you could expect, but in reality it's overwhelmingly more likely for it to be "slower" in regards to most engine-related stuff
There’s this bug on takeoff where the auto throttle wants to cut back for a second once you go wheels off, which is kind of dangerous at times
That’s about my only complaint though, outside of that, it’s easily as good as PMDG
Never had that
The auto throttle sees you pass V2, thinks your overspeeding, and will try to cut the throttles in the few seconds before it goes to N1 mode
It might be alleviated by hitting the TOGA button on takeoff so it arms TO mode before you even push the throttles, but I don’t know
I usually move the throttles to about 40% (A/T armed), then push TOGA
I also bug up after takeoff
I'm pretty sure it's Ryanair procedure and helps keep commonality with the MD80 and 737CL
So that means, rotation, gear up, after thrust reduction (or before sometimes) I put select FL Change and put the speed bug to 250 (or lower if there are speed restrictions)
I don't like the LNAV+VNAV combo below 10.000ft, it feels like I'm not properly in control
I honestly just try to not use VNAV at all, just makes it more interesting and you don’t just sleep the whole flight
I really only use it when there are some complicated altitude restrictions that I don’t know, or during actually long flights when I just leave it to fly by itself
And even then, that’s only if the plane has VNAV in the first place
Climbing above 10.000ft is the only time I use it
I think it just saves having to look the optimum climb speed in the FMC 😄
i just spent $100 on e-jets and i already want to spend another $90 on the IXEG 737s :(
Well, just bought a new plane
Or more so an old plane
Cause it’s rather old
And now I’m failing to start the engines
every single time
i go "man, the 737-200 sounds so much fun to fly right now"
and then i fly the 737-200
and it sucks
this is what its doing after i left it on VOR mode and made lunch
like, wtf
which 1
The DC-9
Just did a little test flight with it, not too bad
Flies a little weirdly
@reef isle I remember you mentioned a custom flight model?
yep
stand by
the one by sky sim?
Yeah, that’s the one
is it actually good
What I can say with certainty is that it’s gonna be an easier bird for Everts than the DC-6 xD
Cause for now 2 out of my 4 DC-6 landings resulted in maintenance log entries xD
gonna try my luck in the atr
It really is. Lovely bird. Shame we can’t have an actual original condition one, but well, that’s too niche anyway
Still lovely to fly, PMDG really did a good job
I just need to learn to land it. Every other phase of flight goes good
This this
Also ngl I think the simplicity of the gyropilot is something entirely different
It does not feel like any other autopilot at all
And it’s lovely. I also gotta say, the gyropilot makes it very easy to draw nice circles in the sky
Idk but the DC-6 has a completely unique feel. It’s a plane you pretty much control fully. And when you’re cruising at some 17000, it’ll just you and the plane. No computerisation, nothing tells you what to do basically
And enjoying the scenery from 17000 is so much nicer than from flight levels 300+
Yesterday went right past Mount McKinley on the way to Anchorage, it was beautiful
Alaska had surprisingly visual weather too xD
The ATR seems nice
bruh the atr has this?
Well the -600 is quite modern tbf
🙉 🙈 🙊
Funny little plane
honestly, quite fitting that controversy follows the max 8 even into the flight sim space
it helps the immersion
for the xplane one theres alot of controversy
tldr:
levelup was making a 737 max 8 (theyre an xplane dev)
a person named walter white (ww) came around and i think kinda stole some assets from then and then released a half assed max 8
levelup in return cancelled their development and sparked a huge outcry with ww
it's been literal years though
close
from how i understand it, WW was working with levelup/zibo on the max 8, for some reason WW was kicked out of the project, so he released his version and was working on it as a seperate thing
levelup is still "working" on their version, but there hasnt been a single update on it since the whole WW situation
the entire controvery is stupid, because laminar technically owns everything, it's their 737 model and core stuff, all the zibo and levelup mods do is improve it off of that base, both sides are in the wrong as far as im aware
and the irrepairable damage that it has caused to the reputation of everybody involved (including the end user) is so stupid, when you show or tell somebody in the xplane discord/forums that you're using the MTD max 8, the instant response is "you are a pirate, and that is filled with viruses, you are bad and you should feel bad"
literally on a 69deg heading from BAWLS
Yeah but it wasn’t his version, he took the model they were working on, polished it up quite significantly after he was kicked out and then released it. He said he was doing the models and animations for the LUmax, LU then said “no actually he did nothing and stole it”, then threshold posted an article about it and everyone got angry.
It’s stupid because everyone involved tells a different story, Zibo said they are all lying and stupid, LU said he just stole the model and WW said he only released the modified bits he was working on. It’s a shame because the final versions of the MDT max are actually quite good looking and have quite a lot of system depth (even if it is modified -800 Zibo systems).
AFL are doing a payware max now so I doubt we will see anything from LU or Zibo
There is a “morally compromised” max by someone from Panama I think if you go looking for it. Works on XP12 and I think it’s just the WW systems with a whole new model that he’s done himself.
Has the 8200 with the MED as well
But no one has caused a shitstorm about it yet
I’ve been considering flying it recently tbh
Model isn’t great but it works
More recent version of Zibo used as well
You sure you haven’t accidentally arrived to the UK?
Also I guess it’s the start of the summer, so rainy season. It’s pouring here in Moscow too
In fact the funniest shit ever happened yesterday, Vnukovo’s main terminal literally started leaking and got a bit flooded
tiny
Also looks like the DC-9 can’t do Long Beach to Anchorage direct
Don't think they'd have the range, that's a long flight
Yeah, tbh it seems the tanks are quite small
The maximum I could load was iirc somewhere around 25k or 27k
Compared to the 727… well I think that’s around what the 727 holds in the centre tank alone
Yeah, 24276 is the maximum it lets you input
I think that’s less than what the 727 holds in the centre tank
And after the DC-6 I just slightly forgot how little fuel 21k is for a jet lol
We’re not making it to Seattle today
Their range was generally <1000 miles
I could be certain in not running out and just land in Sacramento in like 30 minutes
Or I could try to stretch it, I should make it to Portland (the fake one)
I’ve used under 30% for now, and that’s including high power on takeoff
I’m curious how Hawaiian ever got these things
prob extra fuel tanks instead of seats
Yeah, probably
and back to base
tbh, i want to fly a max 8 in xplane, and that's the only available option and it works great, so thats the one i use
Started descending into Eugene, OR
With 9k left probably could’ve pushed to Portland
But hey, already started descending
Ngl, the DC-9 is genuinely fairly fun to fly
losing my shit with xplane, now the x-crafts e-jets are crashing again for no reason
all i did was launch the game, load in, realize the FOV was fucked, exited, edited the FOV stuff as ive done a hundred times to every new aircraft, and now it crashes
didnt even generate a log this last crash, and the log from the crash before didnt have any errors that could cause a crash
and 12 hrs to chicago
Doing a tour of Denmark - the 24 PC-6 Altimeter doesnt work, not a failure, just bugged, you cant set the baro. Luckily there is the stanby which works
is it just me, or does anyone else feel weird about doing IRL flights that your family members are going to be on
my brother is going from boston to pittsburgh after coming back from france, and its in a jetblue E190 which ive been wanting to fly, but id feel weird doing it in a sim as he's mid-flight
i feel like it's a bad omen if i dont finish the flight for whatever reason, or if something goes wrong in-sim
One of my friends does that often when I’m flying, I don’t find it weird tbh
I guess you could see how it would look bad if something goes wrong in the sim, but I just am not really superstitious
Plus there have already been occasions when he didn’t finish flights (I mostly am on overnight long hauls, he would just fall asleep near the end sometimes xD) and I can tell from experience, haven’t had anything go wrong in reality yet thankfully
A Dreamliner crashed in India
The first 787 hull loss too?
Could be, yeah, I don’t remember any others thankfully
I don’t mean for this to sound fucked up, but this morning I woke up to 2 notifications that my Boeing stock plummeted $15, and I knew something happened
I went from being 50 cents up on Boeing to 50 cents in the negatives
At least right now there is 1 confirmed survivor from the plane
Again, not to sound insensitive, but I’m actually shocked that this is the first ever fatal crash of a 787, with Boeings track record I could have sworn there was at least 1
almost in sfo
im fucking done
awesome end to a 3 hour flight
i literally cant even put into words how pissed i am right now
when i tried arming approach and VOR/LOC, it completely fucked up VNAV and starting climbing rapidly too, so i had to take control manually and fly it in by hand
I don’t even know what the fuck happened to the aircraft too, no abnormal gear indications, I literally floated it so it was a soft landing, and I always fly with failures off
I don’t even have failures on, that’s the first thing I turn off ever, very clearly I’m not good enough to troubleshoot failures when I’m trying to learn how to fly it normally
smallboy ops
CSS -500 or the -600 cosplaying as a -500?
the CSS -500 has been calling out to me still, but i hate subscription based stuff when it comes to sims
PMDG 737-600
i have been thinking abouit the -500 for some air do / ana ops
but as far as i know
no livery
ive been wanting to get it for BAW stuff, but im in the same spot, no liveries
thats kinda holding me back
same, they havent even released a paintkit yet
i havent flown to the islands east yet, but i have flown to okinawa
you do not
The fact I hate the most about Japan is that there are a lot of cool approaches and it's genuinely amazing for VOR navigation, so I really enjoy it on Xplane, but I also really like the fact that it's so beatutiful in MSFS, but flying the MSFS planes there feels like a "waste"
Japan is too good 😭
i think i might be done with flight sims forever
i just tried taking off in the MD-80 and i had a dual engine failure, lost power, and crashed
Leonardo?
most likely pushed throttles all the way forward right?
unless you take off with auto/throttle remember to set take off thrust yourself
is it throttle up a little bit, normalize, and then arm auto throttle?
yeah, don't forget to press the button on the thrust levers
the FMA you should see
TAK
OFF
also don't forget to set your EPR Limit
I think if you forget it's going to default to something useful, but I'm not sure
i did that alot
then i never flew it again
major skill issue on my end
why does that happen though
i wanna fly it on xplane as well for 767/Ejets but holy dogwater scenery
No FADEC
so it will not limit itself
How do you not have the 772 with the rainbow livery?
私の一番好きな飛行機。BGM入れ替えVer.

This is the n.1 reason why I bought the 772
i was forgetting that too
@hollow oracle
forgot to check trim 😭
and cursor position is wrong, wtf
also check if those are in line
the green indicator and the white rectangle
is that ur voice
yes
destined to have a teenager's voice for the rest of my life looks like
i wach 0 aviation youtbuers anymore hahaha
was mentour pilot the one who flew the 747
for atlas air\
fair enough, yeah I don't watch nearly as much as I used as well
Ah yeah I stopped watching him a long time ago
then there was the german airberlin pilot
im so out the loop
the only people i watch are the nomadic folks
ahah oh yeah, I think he got a position in a 747 as well
I think he's now flying for Cargolux
but I stopped following him pretty much after that
i forgort about that airline
I only watch Mentour Pilot and an italian channel now
we need a good 747 in msfs
Looks like PMDG's 74s aren't too far
maybe?
but I think they'll do the -100 and -200 first
i pray they dont release the -100 before the -400

i love both of those
alot
but i prefer a -400
they will
unless they change plans
unfortunately
me neither, to be honest that plane does nothing for me
yeah same thing for me
i just stalled out???
now i just lost apll power????
i dont know what i did wrong, i set it in cruise mode, i normal speed, normal altitude, and it just slowly lost speed
WHEN THE FUCK DID THE GEAR COME DOWN???
the interaction system in the MD-80 is the worst i have ever seen in any sim of any genre
why the fuck would both right and left click activate the switch your hovering over, when right click also moves the camera???
you have to always check to see that your not hovering over a switch before you right click
fucking garbage
iirc the art switch being left in the up position after takeoff can cause that
I think I had a crash or two caused by that early on
I think you have to turn it off shortly after takeoff
auto is the default state though?
Yes
i thought you turned it off for a flex takeoff, and then once your in climb you turn it back into auto
iirc it's the opposite, but I haven't flown it in ages
im 0/3 on the last 3 flight attempts in any aircraft and any sim
You’re probably thinking of 74Gear with that one, mentour is the one who does detailed accident explanations on one channel, and aviation news reviews on the other
I’m actually not sure who exactly Mentour used to fly for (I think he’s not flying at the moment? Or could be back with it by now), but he’s a captain & instructor on the 737
Pretty much the only aviation youtuber I watch
Fairly confident it's RYR
It was indeed
I need your help
Title: Dassault Mercure The Dassault Mercure was an intended competitor to the Boeing 737, backed by the French government. It was designed for 140 passengers, much more than the 737-200 then in production. The prototype first flew in 1973, but struggled to attract customers primarily because of the aircrafts short range of only 1700 km. In...
please convince me to noy buy it
it's calling me, but I need to resist
Buy it
Buy it
Don’t buy it
Honestly the mercure is cool, but there are better manuals to buy there
They all have a flaw though, they wouldn't be about the Mercure
You’re already dead, just buy it
I did actually buy it
Thanks to weak dollar it was just 9€ as well
So I actually saved 1€ (don't look into it, it's not mental gymnastics, it's just how currencies work 👍)
Yeah, but is it genuinely saving, or just comparing to what you would’ve paid at a different point in time
Of course now when you are Euro-based and pay something in USD, it will be cheaper than some time ago when dollar and euro were basically 1:1
But I just keep remembering the times when 1 USD was ₽60, and comparing to that, I’m pretty much always paying 150% for stuff
Well, half past one in the morning, I think it’s a perfect time to fly xD
Gonna go for Juneau - Seattle
Eh that seems alright
That would be a top 10 landing for me 🥲
I feel like Gs are the way to go with measuring a landing, because you could have a super steep descent but a smooth flare and touchdown
All fpm does is tell you your late approach rather than the actual landing, and even then a steep approach is required at some airports
I think vAmsys averages the last 5 seconds of your approach to get your fpm, which is horrible
You’d actually register a smooth landing if you floated for 5 seconds and then landed
My track clip pro is showing signs of dying - the clip itself. Cant fly without tracking now. Lokking into alternatives there is the delanclip and something called the luke clip. Anyone tried?
i had a delanclip, i didnt like it
switched to trackir after not even 3 months
it's alot of finnicky work as well as DIY
Might just get another track clip pro then I could DIY my current one with duc tape, but 😬
I have Delanclip and it works fine
And it was pretty much plug and play with Opentrack
japaense maintenance at an all time high
In this video, I reveal the pricing on the 757-200/300 passenger version. I also talk about the progress, Expo, 767 and then end the video with some extra commentary.
$80
Honestly, not bad, and I think they’re making the right move by releasing it for 2020 first
And not even a vague release window lol
As for the price, I expected more in the 60-70 range with Bluebird being a new dev and all, but I think 80 is absolutely reasonable
redmoon
But idk cause it would really be learning to fly from ground up, airbuses scare me
airbus isnt too diff from boeing
Plus if I’m buying, I’m getting the 319/321 too. I really want the 319, it’s cute
Oh hell yeah
the A319 is surprisingly hard to land
im gonna relearn the 742 later today
Seeing the 319s depart Vnukovo is always fun, especially when they are using the runways facing towards Moscow
Somehow the 319 looks the coolest when doing that drawn out turn away from the city
Tbh all are cool, the 319 is just really cute I guess
a318 my love
Does anyone operate it actually
Also shame that the only one in MSFS is LVFR
Yeah that’s cute
Is that a real livery?
xplane hates my pc
sadly not
Yeah, it’s a shame no other routes get those
it doesnt really make sense to do it
not many airports support the a380
nor is there demand
for inner domestic routes a 747 would make sense but
they're retired
my brother did a transatlantic jetblue flight, and one of my souvineers from his trip was the jetblue eyemask and earplug pouch thing, because he knows i like planes
(he also saved one of his paris metro tickets for me, and a cool challenge coin from normandy, but neither are aviation related )
i got fed up and just bought a new gpu
cba with this terrible software
Yep, domestic 747s are a fun thing ngl
Who else but Japan
(Well Rossiya still flies 747s and all of those flights are domestic, but routes like Moscow - Anadyr are very different from where Japan used to send 747s
)
Also fun fact, all the 747s Rossiya has originally came from JAL
it doenst make sense to run 747s in the long run
they werent that full
and the train is still the ultimate competition as well as the bus (suprising i know)
atleast from what i saw personally
Well yeah, if there isn’t the demand for it really
even the inner domestic flights on a 777/787 arent full lol
i dont think i was ever on a full one
even during peak times
Especially considering that indeed, Japan has exceptional domestic railway and coach infrastructure
the young pop of jp doesnt have too much money, bus has become more popular, especially night buses
they're not bad
i paid i think around $60 for a 'vip' night bus for a 9 or 10 hour ride
which was fine
train is mad expensive but obviously the most convienient - and japan is all about that
I can say though my roundtrip to Sochi in a 747 was actually full, and that is the only short route they still fly here. Other routes are all like 8-hour hauls to the far east. And those flights get heavily subsidised by the government, and really, the 747s act more as freighters on those
That doesn’t sound too bad
How expensive are the trains though?
Yeah that’s not ideal
hold on
one moment
@rustic charm
that's an off peak service
first option is non reserved - 4960 jpy ontop of the 8910 jpy base fare
second option is reserved - 5610 jpy ontop of the base fare
third option is green car (premium) 10480jpy ontop of the base fare
Okay, $96 for the cheapest option on a 2:30 ride is quite crazy
Cause I’m looking at tickets here to compare, and the Sapsan doesn’t seem less expensive (although tbf I am looking at tickets just 2 days from now, obviously it’s always cheaper to book earlier)
(Aurora costs just half that though, but it’s not comparable to Shinkansen I’d say)
Well yeah, it’s definitely not cheap
would it cost less if you bought it in advance?
(the train ticket, replied to the wrong message)
Plane yes, train not so much
Ugh ok
Depends on where u book it as well
Online theres usually a discount for it on select sites
Though I think those require residency
Idrk
Hornets* 😉
how hard is it to learn helicopters?
uh
well
if you know they work \
and understand it
not too hard
easy to learn, hard to master imho
depends on which helicopter too
What game are you refering to?
really anything, just curious tbh
the most helicopter experience i have is GTA V
ive only tried to fly a helicopter in MSFS once and it was terrifiying and i crashed almost instantly
From what I’ve heard, don’t judge your helicopter abilities by MSFS
X-plane and dcs generally have the best helicopters
If you want stick and rudder helos, I'd give the dcs huey a trial
Give the msfs ones a go, they are very easy in comparison to the others. If you enjoy that then as Doc said the DCS trial system is great. I would trial the KA50 though as its the easiest to fly
Scramble: Battle of Britain is a tactical dogfighting game that thrusts players into the High-Octane chaos of the 1940 summer skies. Set in a dynamic 3D airspace, this simultaneous-turn-based game embraces the intricate details of aerodynamics and physics-based simulation unique to the piloting experience while minimizing time and reflex dema…
$29.99
162
This is a novel idea! Turn based fighter combat
huey takes alot of getting used to though
ka50 is the best for getting into helis overall like ximm said
from then move down the ladder on what route you prefer
if rather a transport pilot or combat pilot
and then opfor or blufor
opfor helis are usually more hands on but more fun (imo)
blufor helis have all the cool shit and are easier to fly
i dont know if i should keep playing on xp12 or switch to msfs 2024
You dont have to chose, fly both.
i cant win with MSFS, now its crashing
i havent installed any mods or anything since the last time i played
games without an easily accessible log file should be a crime
MSFS be like
huh, DX12 turned itself on for some reason, i dont think ive ever turned it on outside of testing stuff
The thing about the Ka-50 is that it doesn't fly all that much like a helicopter due to the coaxial rotors
The Huey is sadly turbofucked since the "engine update" that gave it more torque than a BNSF intermodal service
I think that the Kiowa Warrior is probably the most like a civilian helicopter, and can be pretty easily flown with all the aids turned off
That said, the Hind is the best helicopter in DCS by a country mile because it does everything and looks good doing it
I've no idea if they've sorted the Apache out yet, that thing had so many "work in progress" asterisks on its flight model when I quit
Chinook is DoA, I wouldn't bother even looking at it
genuinely one of the few things i miss about DCS
idk, after trying out the DCS trial system, im not a fan
i got to play around with it for like 2 days before starting that nightmare job that i ended up quitting anyway, so i didnt get to actually do anything with it
so now im left with the A-10A and casaucus again
that seems more like personal circumstances rather than an issue with the trial?
still crashing
you get another go with that aircraft 6 months after the first go, at least
and you can trial anything else right now
still havent gotten MSFS working, i might need to dump my entire community folder and reinstall everything fresh
yeah, i have no clue what's causing the crash, i managed to load into the cockpit after uninstalling FSUIPC, and then it crashed a few seconds after
couatl for GSX maybe? at least from event viewer its crashing alongside MSFS, and it would explain why i was able to go into the cockpit for a few seconds before i crashed, couatl/GSX was still launching
what in the autism is this
where is graggle simpson
now im getting massive performance issues with MSFS that ive never had before
i might actually be done with flight sims
my mouse camera controls are horrible, it jitters and slips
whatever, my PC has almost a week of uptime, and for some reason task manager is showing a billion explorer.exe tasks open, among a ton of other duplicated apps open too, so hopefully i can shut it off, and then when i turn it on in the morning itll be better
The ‘Bent Wing Bird’, as she was affectionately named, was built for long range air-to-air and air-to-ground attack operations and packed a serious punch with rockets, bombs and machine guns. It mainly flew over the expanse of the Pacific theater from land bases, but also operated from Essex-class aircraft carriers.
E-shop: https://www.dig...
malawarelabs a321neo is out
hard to say no though, i want a 321neo and LVFR is just not good
$70 isnt bad for a high-fidelity aircraft either
i bet it was a memory issue, no more mouse jittering and slipping, smooth camera movements now
it doesnt help that im at RKSI, and the pacsim scenery is not easy to render by any means
(from another discord)
yeah... the flight model is a bit... uh...
only flew around a little bit so far
hope I'll have enough time to do a proper flight later tonight
than I'm away until Monday afternoon 😭
How've you liked it so far though
It's really really cool, I only had one weird electrical issue, I couldn't manage to close the battery ties, so the batteries weren't actually recharging and doing the non normal checklist didn't help. Good chance it was either user error, or a weird input combination that caused a weird bug, so I'm bothered.
Flight model seems decent, sounds are good, and systems, as far as I've understood and played with are great fun 😄
I've quite liked the black square stuff I've had and this looks like yet another step up
this is actually my first black square plane, so I'm very much looking forward to flying it 😄
I loved the black square stuff in 2020, have they ported it to 2024?
I have the tbm and I really liked it with the exception of its mediocre sounds, but given this has boris' work I expect it'll sound incredible
Boris is top tier
Went from the Beech final assembly in Wichita to KGCK just because I found this
if anyone has any other reccomendations of where to fly I'd gladly listen
I'll have to do some pattern work first though, this thing is really strange to land
Just finished the first leg of a Jet2 delivery, not the 737 sits at Halifax
It’s fun how my most-flown transcontinental America route is Boeing Field - Halifax
All others I have flown just once
This one is the third - all on deliveries, Aeroflot 737, TUI 737, Jet2 737 now
What's next on the list?
I think apart from this one that, I haven't flown any delivery flights so far
Actually there is 4 actually
There was a Sterling 727 there too
But
We don’t talk about how that landed
We don’t talk about that 727
As long as it lands i say it's fine
Well, it ended up on the runway is what I’d call it
That's good enough 😉
I deemed it a hull loss, cause in such circumstances as that, something similar to Delta’s Toronto would’ve happened if we had damage physics
But well, next depends. If you mean just the next delivery, I’ll need to finish the delivery of an Everts DC-9 at some point. I also need to finish a delivery of an AirFlorida 727, that poor thing is literally sitting at St. Petersburg, FL, a 30-minute flight away from its base in Miami
Next on the list between Boeing Field and Halifax is either a second attempt at Sterling 727 (the plane will then go from Sterling to DanAir) or an S7 737
Really need to learn livery creation here
Will be lots of help in doing realistic deliveries
Plus tbf considering a friend of mine and I are kinda trying to set up a VA, being able to at least make some liveries would be of great help
finally get to uninstall that LatinVFR crap from my pc
Nice
Tbh I’m considering getting the A320 myself. Not FSL, probably will go with the current full Fenix package, but I do kinda want the A320 now
Get the fenix
Jet2 holidays would’ve been 100 times cooler if we had a 757
Dear Bluebird, can we before the end of 2025 at least please
ive only flown the 722F twice since ive gotten it, so maybe one i get a little more used to how it works
thank god FSS didnt fuck up the 722s like they did their e-jets though, the 722s are actually great to fly
ignore the neon purple man, for some reason GSX doesnt want to display people textures
gotta get some fresh air
i had it open for taxi and didnt even realize that it was still open for takeoff and climb
okay, something isnt correct
for some reason the gear came down AGAIN in the 727 and almost caused me to stall
now my pressurization panel broke completely
shame, the new 727 update broke the aircraft pretty badly
pressurization panel is completely bugged and the nosewheel doesnt steer
FCR has been ending replays like 30 seconds early too
i click end recording, it all goes fine, adn then when i replay it, its missing the last 30 seconds of flight
this time it was mostly just taxiing to the gate thankfully, but the last flight i did, it was the entire landing
it really didnt fucking help that oakland was 15kts 30kts gusting too, and i was overspeed because im not used to the 727s manual throttles, so i went to flare and i shot up like 50ft
if i actually did go arounds when i should, i would have 5 flights completed on volanta
the autopilot on approach was rocking like crazy, and at times it was going from +10 to -10deg pitch
Weather in Seattle is shit right now…
Doing KRNT to KBFI in a 727
I don’t see anything
Welp, landed fine enough
Now for Boeing Field to Minneapolis-St. Paul
This time ILS actually went rather normally
But I’ve had it pitch down aggressively in the past too
Most of the time I either disconnect early and fly by hand or follow the glideslope in vert speed anyway
Cruising over Idaho for now
No issues at all
And finally the update fixed the aircraft shutting down when you close all 3 generator breakers (for some reason I always had to keep one disengaged on the previous version, otherwise the plane would shut down fully)
Gonna be doing lots of flights out of MSP with this one
