It doesn’t look bad either
I’d buy it if it weren’t for the price

anyone looking for a flightsim?
The Cirrus community welcomes the most complete yet competitively priced Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) SR Series cockpit trainer on the market. The NFS Cirrus Commercial Cockpit is the culmination of our tireless work to create the most advanced Cirrus sim capable of placement in even the most demanding training environment.

LOL
when your product is so unoptimized, that people are using 256x256 N64 textures to get any sort of normal performance
it turns out that its a lot easier to fly the MD-11 when your actually paying attention to where your TOD is
i signed up for fedex VAC and its fun, im doing my first flight
they dont allow simrate, but they do allow pausing thankfully
im starting to get the negatives to rating a landing based on fpm
i have a -400fpm landing, but 1.02gs, by all accounts that is a very smooth landing with a little bit of a steep approach
the biggest piece of information that has helped me with learning how to land a lot smoother, is that you should hit 50 just as your crossing the runway threshold bars, the rest is mostly just keeping it centered, and a continuous slope down, and flaring appropriately
Tbh this is what I don’t quite get about VAs
Allowing and forbidding things
Why not let people fly the way they prefer? Why does it have to be so strict and serious?
there was a va which prohibited doing pause
lol
My friend told me about a VA that had some very strict rules, I was quite surprised. It was BA iirc
What he told me is that they had a whole ass application, then you had to do an exam proving you know how to fly? And after that they would make you a first officer which meant you could only do short hauls on narrowbodies for some reason (as if there are no FOs on widebodies). And it’s just weird, I myself wouldn’t be to bothered since that’s what I mostly do anyway, but in this case we’re talking about a friend whose most-flown plane averages 9 hours per flight
yes BA is ultra strict
i was apart of them
although
i like the 'hour' system where u have to get certain hours to unlock more aircraft
it's a level system and gives u a sense of achievement and stuff to do
thats my opinion though
somethign like 50 hours for a350 or sumnth
NOT 250 hours
My fcking total is 250 now 😭
only VA I am in at the moment is Fly UK, might be fictional but they're nice people to talk to & they don't have like a billion trillion rules
flyuk is good
i dont like their system though
skytrack
I think its alright, im not one to really be interested in a program telling me exactly what I fly & how I fly, just that I get from point A to B
not one for fictional stuff usually, but its nice that its run like a real airline would
Fly2 summer schedules are 🔥
definitely one of my favourite franchises to fly
FlyUK is the only VA I regularly fly for, used to fly for Walker Air a whole lot but just kinda died out
what i like abt alker is that
even after the drama
any plane any route
their livery (regardless of drama) is just kinda poo
their concept is coool tho
i used to fly qvirtual alot
I tried BAVirtual for a time, just wasn't active enough to really give a shit
thats the realistic baw isnt it
back when I didn't really play flight sim regularly
yea
with the whole entrance exam & shit
oh
they have a cool community
but the take it too serious
u couldnt fly to haneda until you had like 250 hours and have done an exam and chrckride as PIC
which i found dumb
it was alright, I like FlyUKs concept of fly, rank up & get to fly even more shit
luckily I joined right as they had the rank free weekend, so easy to get to Class D
sometimes works, sometimes doesn't
airwego is also good
At least with the simrate stuff, it makes pilot hours feel a lot more special when you acquire them, if you see a guy with 100 pilot hours in a VA with no simrate, it’s a lot more impressive
Especially since the fedex VAC does pilot hours as a sort of seniority system, where you rank up via hours
At least with the fedex one, it seems quite lenient, but they also want you to do quality flights and being active by doing 1 flight every 3 months
Well, that sounds more or less fine
And I do agree with hours feeling more special, I never used simrate myself
It does make my flights and routes feel more real, at least to me. If I have a line on volanta going from Moscow to Denpasar, that means I did really spend 12 hours to get there
Or if you take a look on your profile stats and you know, all these hours you really spend flying
That is a fair distance
Ngl I probably won’t handle much more than 12 hours
I like me shorter flights, more to do 😛
I’m a mix, I either do something under 2 hours, or something over 6 lol
I booked a week off from work purely just for flying, only because I rarely ever fly when coming home from work cos im too tired
Honestly I don’t really do any specific kind of flights
I often just randomly choose destinations
I do endeavour to try the London to Perth flight, if I ever get the time for it
& then the Singapore Airlines stuff when the ULR drops, but im happy just doing a standard pond hop, they're decent fun
Sometimes I just do flights I’ve been on in reality (Moscow to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk or Bangkok as examples), or places I would love to visit in reality (just did a Moscow to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy recently)
Then there are times I literally just choose random stuff, kind of “I wanna do a 3-hour flight in a 737 out of JFK, let’s see what there is on flightradar”
And sometimes I just wanna push the planes to their limits, like how I decided to cross from Cold Bay, Alaska into Japan in a 727
I was bored on a random sunday, so I decided to fly London to Hong Kong
Thats me usually
Kai Tak too cause I didn't have scenery for the new airport at the time
Oh, Kai Tak is great fun
Not even gonna try it for now since the only plane I’d be confident going there in is the 737
oh yea, used to do Kai Tak loads in P3D
Well, I mean not gonna try actual flights
747, 777, 737, 320, 321, all the aircraft
i flew heathrow to perth once
terrible
thats one time i was actually super cautious about load
wanted to do it in the Concorde too, but one has uninstalled P3D now
I did already do a couple practice laps around there, touch and gos. I’m pretty sure I was a bit drunk when I came up with that, doing touch and gos in Kai Tak in a 777 at night
Did 320s/321s actually go there?
Cause tbh for me Kai Tak is pretty much entirely associated with earlier widebodies
747-100/200/300, L1011, A300/310, DC-10/MD-11 kind of stuff
Apparently so
Yeah tbh not too surprising, of course there was regional traffic, plus 1998 was not that long ago after all
Just feels kinda weird to me
Actually the last arrival to Kai Tak was an A320 aswell
Wait that is not an F28 there is it?
Does look like one
No actually the 28 is shorter and has smaller engines
md80 mayb
But that’s a Fokker for sure
they had f28s
An F70 or an F100, certainly
nah md80 is too long
nah it a fokker
That’s an F100
Didn’t know they called 100s that
But tbh that’s possible
Yeah, so looks like I have some ideas where to fly the F100 once it’s out (hopefully not far off now, I hope it cones before summer)
Do you have the kai tak scenery
Only the default for now
if i can use it, i will, personally i just dont see the value in sitting real-time for like 12 hours
To me it just feels more special, idk. I can totally see why people use it, sitting 12 hours straight while doing nothing is not for everyone. Best you can is just leave and do other stuff. But for me it’s just quite simple - if I don’t have the time to connect the dots on the map, those dots won’t be connected.
Jemwings
so real
Yeah
It's the bane of my existence when trying to find some F28 photos
F28-0100 and F28-0070 are the F100 and F70
it is exceptional, though their devs are... not the best personalities
A350 was fun, back to the tried & tested 777
Triples are lovely
atleast I can rest easy knowing I can do a long haul from A to B without any fuss
Seems like the FS24 marketplace is finally open and also you can upgrade to premium deluxe via steam now https://store.steampowered.com/app/3341960/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_2024__Premium_Deluxe_Upgrade/

$79.99
I thought of upgrading to 2024
But my laptop would burn down
The issue with it is PMDG 747s are being made for FS24
people are WAY too harsh on the A350
yeah, its not great, but its also not bredok3d
i would say that it's on par with the FBW A380 as far as systems go, the flight model needs improvement (but there's already a mod that fixes that, so...)
its not fenix by any means, but i dont regret buying it, and ill still happily fly it
+1
The a350 is good
Fenix said its bad and all of a sudden it‘s bad
Lmao
Lmao
The usual cycle
EXACTLY
Well idk what version the 350 we have, but i just had a go at him bc hes told me hes got it from a external website....
I might be wrong though
or some chinese site
we on fs20
so most likely yeah
💀
well lets see how it goes lol
LMFAO
ive just googled it
well i think 350 is ok but will have to find out once done flight
350 is okay, just the AP disconnecting randomly midflight & A.Floor kicking in on a longhaul that annoys me
no issues otherwise with shit like WASM crashes
I don't think anyone from Fenix said it was bad per se, just that it was not as high fidelity as they'd have liked. Reddit just took that and ran off with it
I'm at the point where I just think IniBuilds are a bit odd
I have no doubt the 350 is gonna be far better down the line
& tbf I have no issues with lower fidelity aircraft, I bought the LVFR 321neo with the Horizon mod & thats alright in fairness
They make such a variety of addons, which is nice, but the depth of simulation seems to vary quite a bit which is odd - means it's a bit of a gamble as to what you're buying.
They make great looking scenery, but it's really poorly optimised compared to some of their rivals' work.
There's also the time they sent me a box of free stuff for no apparent reason, then asked me to post about it on social media (I don't have any social media) and then immediately (before I could even reply) saying not to worry about it and sorry for asking...
Like, they seem to be quite customer-friendly which is good
I just can't really get a reliable sense of who their products are aimed at
Quite cheap atleast
Yeah their pricing is definitely fair
I think PMDG are only going to seem more archaic as time goes on, with their massively inflated prices
Wish we did have a better 340 though
Fenix and IniBuilds proved that you can sell a good product for a reasonable price
Amen, I see them overhead every so often, love seeing a proper quad jet
just awaiting the FSLabs 321neo then the LVFR will be collecting dust
I wouldn’t say that ini is always reasonable price tbh
already kinda doing that tbh don't do 321neo shit often
ngl I'm just waiting for Falcon BMS 4.38 at this point
after several episodes of Suits, we've landed
But most excited about JF 3B4, PMDG 74 classics and the 757
& my munich scenery is broken again, fuck sakes
Out of 74 classics though I want the SP the most. Hopefully PMDG will do them justice
I found the jankyest way possible to fly on VATSIM using DCS
For legal reasons the above is a joke and I always follow the CoC to the letter
okat found the issue, not the scenery thats broken
just the WU18 Munich thats somehow installed
Tbf, it’s only “good” because it’s the only 321neo in 2020, horizon stopped developing for it because LVFR stopped them
The fenix 321 blows it out of the water anyway, if I want to fly a 321, I’m flying the fenix before the horizon one
if im flying a 321ceo, its usually the FSLabs 321 for me
neo, its the LVFR... obviously till FSLabs releases theirs
not sure why people are so up in arms about high fidelity aircraft, most people just do the bog standard setup the MCDU & fly & would have fuck all clue on how the rest works
That could be a website banner lmao
Airbus A330-200
Nah it’s a 330-200F
The tumor on the bottom is to raise the nose landing gear for cargo loading
To make the floor of the aircraft flat
A330’s naturally are nose down especially -200’s
This alleviates that issue
Ok, I like the 350 now
Sexy pic
JFK-EGKK
on descent into lhr
ngl, if someone could make GTA V and all of its runways and stuff in MSFS, i would do so many flights around there
Tbh you could probably add an island somewhere in the middle of the ocean and it’d work I reckon
But really flying there would make no sense, you’d be basically just doing holds cause the distances are too short to go through a proper takeoff, climb up and have time to set up for the descent and landing
true, the runways are microscopic, even at the los santos international airport, you could probably only land a cessna
not quite understanding how xp-11 works, but for $10 im not regretting it
my biggest issue with xplane is EASILY the controls, they make literally no sense
i want to set it up how i have it in MSFS, but it just wont work
no options for deadzones, no options to bind axis to more than one option,
okay, im at my limit with xplane, im considering refunding it
this is a garbage "simulator", even worse than anything DTG could put out
I’ve figured out controls, so tomorrow I’m going to give a flight a shot
If I can nail a few flights in the 737, I might buy the rotate MD-11, because I’ve heard it’s exceptionally good, even compared to the TFDi one
Why an unfamiliar flightsim is a chew - you dont know how to do anything
If you give up on a flight simulator that fast just because of initial setup difficulties, you're missing out on one of the most detailed and realistic experiences available. X-Plane isn't 'trash'. Just because it didn’t work for you right away doesn’t mean it’s 'garbage.' Maybe take some time to learn the settings before making such a sweeping statement. A bit of patience and learning go a long way ....
I was frustrated, but I still maintain that the key binding setup leaves a LOT to be desired
I can fly aircraft like I can in MSFS at least, minus camera control on my controller, and reverse thrust is a weird binding
If I can do a few flights in the zibo 737 tomorrow, and if I can get used to the sim, I have no issues sinking some money into it
Though, I have a hard time coming up with a reason to get any of the A320s in that sim, considering I already own the fenix in MSFS
I’ve heard that the MD-11 in XP is second to none though, and I’m curious on how the flight dynamics stack up between sims, not to mention it’s literally my favorite aircraft ever built
Camera control on an Xbox controller is the single worst thing that MSFS has
Sorry but I don’t what yet another USB plugged in on top of rudder pedals, yoke, keyboard, mouse, headphones
I still call it easy dock or whatever the P3D plugin was with the set views
Main is W then other views assigned on the numpad
The defaults for XP are a little scuffed
If you want a free camera the C and use full stop and comma to move around
Can also use arrow keys to move around a bit smother
In the cockpit view you can use those controls to move around
If your used to the MSFS Xbox controller then it will take some time getting used to but believe me it’s easier
Wait hold on do you just have the thrustmaster Airbus side stick?
Because this is a known issue with it where the yaw axis becomes fucked because the cabling inside is too tight
I had the exact same issue but I fixed it too late so the sensor was already fucked
they make a lot more sense to me compared to MSFS
but that might be because I'm coming from DCS
DCS control binding is, imo, the gold standard
Separate, per-aircraft bindings is something I really missed in MSFS 2020
Plus the ability to bind a switch's "off state" to anything is really useful
It's a widespread Thrustmaster issue
also affects the Hotas X/One and T16000
XP also has per aircraft and per aircraft type control setups
Yes, and the throttles, but for yoke aircraft I like using an Xbox controller (I know)
An xbox controller is good in dcs, not for flying, but for sensors etc
trust me xplane is a way better simulator than msfs
you just need to figure it out
I have most flight control surfaces bound to my controller, except reverse thrust, which is right stick button, and the right stick has nothing tied to it
The bumpers are trim too, which works, but is really not ideal
its kind of funny how every sim has their version of the FBW A320, the big freeware, study level aircraft
ive been messing around with the zibo 737 and it handles and runs just like the PMDG one, and there's that max 8 mod (which is apparently really controversial) thats extremely good too
speaking of the zibo B738, why
The Cold War is officially coming with the DCS: Cold War Germany map from Ugra-Media. Set in the 1980s and spanning 980x800 km, this superb new terrain will cover West Germany, East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and the Low Countries. https://t.co/FP7mCFGcYJ
oh.
holy shit its fucking massive
And it's made by Ugra so it'll actually be good
perfect for some phantom opos
maybe it'll be released with the mig
w
And Gazelle, if it survives long enough to see the release
I haven't been missing DCS at all honestly
I will probably only take my simpit out of storage after BMS 4.38 drops
im definitely liking how open-source of a feel xplane gives, there's a LOT of freeware plugins for stuff that is usually payware in sims like MSFS
the default airports are also in another league, i dont even feel like i really need payware scenery to enjoy flying to them
i got simcoders headshake, and it makes flying, especially turbulence and stuff, feel WAY more realistic
its a little bit intense, but compared to MSFS where your basically glued to your seat and the only indication your going through turbulence is the yoke shaking (if your even in an aircraft with a mechanical yoke), its leagues better
U need to get fsrealistic
Also
I recommend autoortho
For xplane
In combination with simheaven x world
Looks esp good on 12
ive heard that fsrealistic is kind of a bust, most of the features are so small or over-the-top that people end up turning most of them off, and it makes landings seem harder than they actually are
famous 737 max feature: the wings flap to give you extra lift

In this video I review NEW Latin VFR (LVFR) Airbus A321 CEO (Current Engine Option) for MSFS2020! However I would end up regretting the £23 purchase..

i was like "kid? probably like 18-20"
aaron rheins has made this hobby insufferable as far as social media goes
whos that
youve seen him, he's the mr beast of flight sims in that his content is extremely "trendy" and low-quality

i love scrolling his page and seeing the same face png in the thumbnail of like 300 videos
Indeed
jfc
It is somewhat realistic (think driving your car with a low sun in your eyes) but I agree, its a PITA
it should be a setting
They dont believe in options nowadays
Is there a decent/recommended ATR 42 or 72 or pref both for MSFS? def none in xp
Excellent
There's only the Microsoft one
Which is ok
Isn't that the Expert one?
I’ve heard it’s reasonably good, haven’t got it myself yet
Costs just a bit and you get both the 42-600 and the 72-600 iirc
Anyone know how to make discord badges? I would like one for a flying group I belong to
Not sure how exactly it’s done, but you assign it through the roles tab. I guess it is just importing an image that then shows up with the role
the Aerosoft one for XP is actually not awful if you can figure out how to get it
i ended up getting the rotate MD-11
you actually get a very significant discount on the other variant than the one you purchased, i got the freighter, and because i did, the passenger version is only llike $35 now
yeah
its also taking like 8 hours to load because i downloaded a bunch of x-world stuff thats like 30GB
if you want better than default autogen then SFD global
but enhanced skyscapes is an almost must
where can i get it?
i cant find it
nvm, i think i found it, in their discord server
Vivid Sky This is the sky textures from my xVision preset so they can be used standalone or with other plugins. Not tested with Reshade but should work well. If you are using xVision it may still work by replacing the textures of your chosen preset with these, but don't expect perfect results. Wo...
this as well
just chuck it in the FlyWithLua plugins
hm. for some reason flywithlua quarantined a script
for some reason i have this weird cross at the center of my screen too, if i click on it, a box draws around it
and i dont have any scenery in atlanta
im using that x-world stuff
check the Scenery_packs.ini in your custom scenery folder
found it, for some reason my xbox controller wasnt connected
global airports should be above X-WORLD
like this?
above the demo areas
like so?
Blue is airports and library's (library's should be below the airports)
Red is where you want your Overlays, Large patches of scenery and green is where you want orthos and other things
ignore the blue below the red
thats me being lazy
if you want to see the XP landmarks then have them above the orthos
Sam Suite Library
Airports
Library's
Global Airports
Overlays, ORBX TE, X-World
Global Landmarks
Ortho's
Custom Meshes (including airport meshes)
thats how it should be
roughly
this is my XP12 one
very scuffed
but you see how it works kinda
i c, works now
So uh, weird question
If I were to, say, buy FSX right now
What would be the essentials to get started? There are always at least some addons needed on top of the base game
All I know of FSS is there are Russian planes, that’s quite something for me at this point
It can’t be that bad, right? Plus I’d pay like $1.5 for it right now
meh, for that cheap i dont think you could go wrong, but dont go into it expecting a good sim
it hasnt aged very well
i dont know why my speed is doing this
it does it on the 737 too
its like the autopilot is flying drunk
it turns out, thats just moderate to severe turbulence over the appalachians
Like $90 and about a week of your time to get it looking good and get working plugins
Excluding scenery and aircraft
or just be me and have it 90% vanilla with just ActiveSky and (from time to time) AutoOrtho
sorry I thought you were still talking about Xplane lol
well, it's even easier for FSX
nah lmao
as I have it completely stock
eh, the whole world is there 🤷
indeed
I only download sceneries because I need them to be somewhat up to date for VATSIM
and I also have a live weather thingy
the only free software I could find
Cool yep I'm on this guy's Patreon
(just the free tier)
Cockpit looks a bit rubbish but looks like the systems are good
I just randomly looked for a Caravelle a few days ago (because unfortunately I remembered the Aeroplane Heaven one exists) and found it
youtube
If you give this guy about 10€ on Patreon you can get it
yeye ik
Not sure how far away it is from a complete release
i wouldnt lly it enough tho
thats a bit too old
for me
i like anything from 707 upwards
is there a comet
Yep
bruh
Has been in development since like 2007
wtf
And the guy (which amazingly is still active) said that likely it'll release this year
Yeah it's ridiculous 😆
I am delighted to announce that I have a de Havilland DH-106 Comet in an advanced state of development. For details, please follow this link: DH-106 Comet Final development is continuous now, and I'll update the web site over the next few weeks. Guy. -- Guy Montagu-Pollock http://www.dh-aircraft....
that might actually
be an aircarft im interested in
i'd pay
the comet more or less is a special aircraft
There's also one in the making for MSFS
the tupolev for msfs
"In a day and a half, the comet has flown over 14 countries, travelled over half way round the world, and cut what until this morning was an 86-hour journey, into a 36-hour one."
The BOAC Comet now travels from London to Tokyo, more than halving the time it takes to travel between the two great cities. The first official flight is today, but B...
that video popped up in my recomms
i watched it
highly interesting
and someone said thats one of the aircraft that crashed
Oh really
BOAC Flight 781 was a scheduled British Overseas Airways Corporation passenger flight from Singapore to London. On 10 January 1954, a de Havilland Comet passenger jet operating the flight suffered an explosive decompression at altitude and crashed, killing all 35 people on board.
The aircraft, registered G-ALYP, had taken off shortly before from...
It was indeed 😬
holy shit what is that cockpit
back when aviation was more than just typing a few numbers into the fmc
jesus christ
The Comet made its first flight 8 years after the Lancaster Bomber
So if the Comet did it's first flight today, they Lancaster's would have done its first flight in 2017
also totally unrelated but
concordes cockpit in hindsight
looks old
but
is pretty well organized
easier to navigate that thin than some modern aircraft w a billion screen options
the msfs one isnt good is it
I still think the L-1011 was the absolute peak of steam gauges cockpits/systems, Mercure and Concorde were very good too.
It's not too bad
Ngl I just hope MSFS will get some old planes too
There should be a Comet in dev
The 707… we don’t talk about that
Probably the only MSFS purchase I regret
The Caravelle… I don’t know if it even still exists tbh, it was supposed to be released alongside the 707 iirc…
Some Soviet jets would be wonderful, I would genuinely pay a fair $150 just for a high quality Il-62
It's so sad that the FSX version is so mediocre
Il-86/Il-96 would be wonderful. Tu-154 would have a lot of use, not even just in Russia. You can fly Interflug, Malev, LOT, Tarom iirc too
Yep
Fun how it’s still in commercial operation too
At least there's a Tushka coming soon
Air Koryo flies a scheduled service to Vladivostok on them (well, sometimes it’s other planes, but often the 62)
And there is also a cargo airline in Belarus that still flies 62s too
Going to do the Cross the Land Americas tonight with the Cubana Tu-154
ATC be like “Excuse me sir… what are you flying?”
Is it not good? I honestly considered getting FSX while it’s on sale on steam just to fly some Soviet planes cause iirc there are some freeware ones
Actually the 154 is relatively popular, I usually get that kind of reaction if I fly the Mercure, Trident of VFW-614
Oh yeah, those are not as known certainly
Tbh surprised people don’t know about the Trident, I did know about it
But I personally had no idea of what the Mercure and VFW-614 were until I saw your screenshots here xD
There are 2, and they'd complement each other fairly well unfortunately, I think someone managed to merge them, but not sure if that's publicly available.
One has all the navigation equipment and a very good looking model/cockpit but has next to nothing in terms of systems (APU, fuel, electric, etc...) I think the only way to start it is Ctrl+E, the other has these systems but very basic navigation/cockpit
Ehejhe
Oh… well that’s a shame
Still, I guess at least having the plane is good
I've known the Mercure for a long time but I also discovered the VFW relatively recently
When I saw it for the first time and read a bit of its history it was love at first sight
I guess MSFS will probably never get these kinds of planes… such a shame
I need to learn to 3d model so I can make all this planes
Ahhahahaha
I want the real 220
Genuinely to make some good Soviet planes I would learn how to code stuff, I reckon with some trial and error I could make a plane work. But I just don’t have the hands for modelling, I can’t do it at all
Like, if I had a model, after a lot of time it would probably become functional, and after some more time maybe it would even have some good systems coded in
Oh yeah, those would be nice
I reckon older planes are not as complicated to code as modern ones too. I mean, at least I’d expect making full VNAV/LNAV logic, as well as FMCs and stuff is complicated, more so than making the plane able to fly VORs
:(

Gotta love arriving to Moscow

whats the difference between the levelup 737 and the zibo 737 anyway?
is one better than the other?
ive been using the zibo because there seems to be more liveries and stuff for it, the levelup is relatively new so there isnt much
levelup had better textures n stuff
First look: DCS: Cold War map - Berlin - a symbol of the Cold War.

now what i wanna know is
can you see the difference between east and west
or is it just buildings spammed

#dcscoldwar #ramstein #airbase #tiger2 #dcs #dcsworld
so based
I see eastern plattenbau in the video, but I didn't notice the border crossing itself so some of them may be in the west
why the cold war specifically, am i missing something or is it a fictional thing
But given it's ugra, I expect it'll be done well
Because the cold war is where dcs shines
best example of this is 'seven days to the rhine'
Not much point in a modern germany
but its the cold war? its called the cold war because there was no actual fighting?
yes but if there were going to be wars
which dcs mostly simulates 'wannabe' wars
it'd be the area where it took place most
Yeah, but it's a video game 😅
yes
true, im just kinda used to video games mimicing real wars tbh
And if you want high intensity peer on peer conflict in the cold war, Germany is the place to be
ive really considered trying out DCS for the A-10, but the cost and space is extreme
Dcs has a lot of really nice things going for it, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend jumping in at present, not with all the drama that's happened during the past year
And honestly if you wanna do ground pounding I kinda feel bms does it better
But there's no better sim for combat helicopters than dcs
And the leatherneck/heatblur jets are impeccable
if u want to fly f18
fly f16 in bms
they're the same minus carrier
f16 cant really compare to the a10 imho
cant take too much equip
air-to-air combat is way to fast-pace for me, i havent done any air-ground combat yet, but i feel like id absolutely love it
you overestimate air to air
most of the time its locking someone on at 25 miles
firing a missile or two
and flying away
just to go for a re attack a minute later
i've messed around with air-to-air in VTOL VR and it is extreme
and that sim is dumbed down quite significantly
flying, managing throttles, and then trying to use targeting systems all at once is a LOT to manage for a solo pilot in a tiny, fast jet
bombers and transports are really where i shine, because its already what i enjoy doing, low-stakes cargo flying is just
I'd honestly just start with bms, it's almost free, has decent performance and has equivalent quality simulation for its simulated aircraft, as well as having the best dynamic campaign of any game
+1
Then if you like that and want to try other planes that dcs has, potentially move over then
DCS doesn't really do transports outside its helicopters (which are awesome)
c130 mod
And a c130 that is coming soon ™️
And this
are there any sims with a good C-17? the freeware MSFS one makes me sad, and im too broke currently to get 2024 super ultra mega premium to get that version
Vrot noooooooooo

Not that I'm aware of
It does look like a 255, so that's right, just wrong livery lol
Oops sorry for the ping
FlightSim Studio have also announced the Boeing 727 Super 27 Expansion which will include a Modern Avionics Package, GPS, EFIS, Navigation Systems (FMS), Digital Gauges, and a New Autopilot system 🤮🤢
Eww
🤦♂️
I probably won’t be buying it, just not interested in any of that newer stuff
modern avionics package wwwwww
tbh, the GNS-XLS is modern enough for me
just enough to still feel old, but modern enough to where i can fly it easy enough
The pax version though I’ll definitely get, you can only fly so much with painted on windows
Can't tell if it's a v200 or the Romanian shitboxes, era appropriate livery though is nice
Doc judging the map by trains
I think so
offtopic for the channelk but a underepresented train in train sim
But it might be the west german v200 from the shape
Guilty as charged lol
Right region wrong era lol
Can’t have vrot in back in the day
Hopefully they'll reskin it to weinrot eventually
cant wait for the mods
Tbh seems like an interesting map
Mi-8 take-off on Mount Brocken Transmitter
#dcscoldwar #dcs #dcsworld #Brocken #ugramedia
WHY
Yeah
that isnt too far from where i live
Haven’t really ever been interested in military flying, but it does look quite good
systems disagree on both airspeed and altitude, and its not a failure, so i cant even fix this and its probably a bug 😭
Also, I just have to…
Why is the mount broken?
It's and the 29 are actually getting me interested in dcs again after the razbam debacle killed the 23
Well what I can definitely say is that mach .78 is not over the limit for the 737 at either 29k or 34k, so the captain side screen seems to be correct, just fly according to it
the only issue is that the overspeed clicker is going off and i forgot where the mute button was
plus im not sure if the plane would allow me to do a precision approach with the displays disagreeing like that
Honestly not quite sure, possibly aft overhead
I think ILS should work, but autoland won’t
Definitely a 219 or similar

i ended up nuking the flight anyway, if it really was a bug, it was unrecoverable as far as im aware
for some reason it wanst tracking waypoints that great at all either, it was overshooting really bad
Demonstration of tank exercises on the Cold War map.
An important component of the map will be the realization of military ranges, where the scenarios of interaction between different types of ground vehicles and air groups were practiced, it will allow players to realize the scenarios of military exercises simultaneously for aviation and ground...
Yeah, I get the feeling it's pretty close
maybe it's worth learning the f4 real fast
It's definitely the map for it
It'll be great for the f1 as well, especially once we get the French portion
You can buy it via the marketplace for 22 euro in FS24
i thought it was a premium deluxe supersize mega ultra edition exclusive?
Correct but they're gonna be releasing all the different editions plane on the marketplace now for those who don't want to buy a more expensive edition
(get gamepass)
id prefer it on steam
With other words if you only want one plane from the premium deluxe you can now buy it via the marketplace instead of needing to buy premium delixe
Would’ve been useful in 2020
Cause the Dreamliner is literally the only reason I got premium deluxe
(I have flown it 0 times by now)
Also about FS24 since I’ve not been following it too closely, is everything still from the cloud or did they eventually let people download stuff?
Level up has much better textures and more config for cabin and such. Also has the -600, 700, 800, 900 & 9ER
Afaik still via streamed
Real 😭
Though, I think the last I checked, it only used up like 40GB in a month, which I use like over 2TB/month with just watching YouTube and downloading stuff
It fucks with my brain that the 757 is both a narrow body, and the successor for the 727
It feels like it should be a wide body or something
If you use the 737 as a sort of "reference point" both the 757 and the 727 are a bigger, higher performance version of the 737 😄
I think if you see it that way it makes more sense
Also the "successor" of the 757 should have been a wide body if Boeing didn't decide to self destruct for the last 10-15 years
The New Midsize Airplane (NMA), or New Midsize Aircraft, (culturally referred to as the Boeing 797) is a concept airliner proposed by Boeing to fill the middle of the market segment.
In 2015, Boeing determined the market was large enough to launch a new design. In 2017, multiple airlines expressed interest in a composite, seven-abreast twin-ais...
Good thing I was already well into my windshear escape manoeuvre 😬
60ft -1000ft/m and Vref-5, sank to about 30ft before gaining altitude again
is that the flyjsim 732?
Held Vref+15 for the second attempt, and preempted the airspeed loss as I got close to the ground and got a much better result 😄
Yep 😄
ive been extremely tempted to get it since its on sale for half off, but the 727 in MSFS was already a massive undertaking to learn
I don't know how the A/P is on the FSS
But be prepared to only use HDG mode to track VOR radials in cruise with the FlyJSim stuff
The A/P really is useless for most navigation stuff
i was going to say, even then, ive only really learned how to use the honeywell unit in the 727
They have the default X-Plane FMC if you desire to use it
No idea how well it works, I only did a couple of flights with it and it was OK
But I used it strictly only for lateral navigation and nothing else
The FJS 737-200 was my most used plane last year probably followed by the 727, and unless Just Flight releases the A300 or ini releases the L-1011 that's probably not going to change this year. I only have good things to say about the FJS planes, except for the lack of customizability and other cockpit options/configurations
They are just so good to hand fly
I usually have A/P off below 10.000, just so nice
thats definitely not going to help me much in x-plane, the AP behavior in xplane just seems to be extremely strange
aircraft have trouble tracking waypoints and LNAV paths, they overshoot and just make up random floating paths regardless of speed, and it doesnt help that turbulence seems to be a massive factor in x-plane
The only two modern-ish planes I have on X-Plane11 (the A300 Beluga and the 737 Classic) both have perfectly functioning APs
Don't know what would cause that
Especially with the Zibo
A friend of mine that flies the NG a lot always spoke very highly of the Zibo
I think the Max variant is not great, same goes for the other freeware built on top of the Zibo
Which I don't remember the name of (LevelUP)
its funny, ive had 1 successful flight in the max without issues, but the zibo was giving me most of the autopilot errors, and then i had that data mismatch that had me completely bin the flight
Weird, you definitely had the Pitot Heat on? Also if it happens again you can try and go to the menu at the top, I think in flight configuration you should see something like "edit failures" and then click "fix all failures"
i tried the "fix all errors" and it didnt fix it, it was either a bug or i didnt have something configured like i normally would in the PMDG, and all pitot heats were green
Yeah weird
Never used the Zibo myself
Next time I hear that friend of mine I'll ask him
I think most planes that use the default FMC/systems are mediocre at best
I've always heard that the Zibo was the only exception so keep that in mind
a380neo wen
wtf is this? is this ground fog?
i just got autoortho installed, thats the only change ive made
why it farding💔
the heat blur coming off of the engines is just comical too
this would be my second sim close-call in almost 120 flights
autopilot would just not climb out of 3000
It’s not as complex of an aircraft
Just in general it’s easier to learn
100% recommend
is there a freighter version, or is it just the passenger?
i could complete my aerosucre fleet if it has a freighter version
It’s just pax
The new one they are bringing out has Freight, Pax and combi plus gravel kit
So you can do some proper arctic flying
But it is XP12 only
Another aircraft well worth getting is the TU-154 felis
Very very very rewarding to fly
Some nice liveries for it as well
Hm, im getting auto ortho errors now
My friend has been trying this out
I think it’s a tad less jank than AO
im in 11
Oh fuck yeah this doesn’t work on 11
Ignore me
I’m still using a world models + ortho4xp on airport tiles
Or world ortho at about ZL12-13
So it looks kinda ass
If XA Snow was ported to XP11 then that’s what I would everlastingly recommend
Because AO really hates working for me
ive tried about everything but i still cant get autoortho working
Are there any alternate systems or anything? Could switching to an older version work?
If you follow the instructions to the letter it works. Doesnt look great (msfs melted cheese) and makes the sim take forever to load, but it works if the instructions are followed
Ortho4xp is where you will get quality ortho
Ice
@hollow oracle
if u really want the a10
nows the chance to buy\
alternatively just use the free 30 day trial on dcs
or 15 day
Well, the 737 itself is just a smaller, shorter range 727 after all xD
Yep hahah
And of course one of the key points was not having a flight engineer
And then United had a crew member in the jumpseat reading checklist and flicking a few switches because of the pilot union 🙃
That is fun
This is awful
The 737 has a tiny flight deck anyway
Can barely sit 3 with the instructor jumpseat down
Yeah, I heard that was fairly uncofortable, and United wasn't even the only one, thankfully I think it only lasted a few years
And the dead seat has I’m not joking about 10cm of legroom
It’s a glorified table
I’ve had to use it properly before and if you have a captain that’s rather large around the waist then you physically cannot get in
Had severe turbulence when the FO was having a piss and I had to quickly get on the harness
To get the harness on because it’s a 5 point you need to have your knees forward and that was quite difficult
I’d rather have melted cheese over whatever the fuck the default is
tbf, i think if im going to spend any more money on flight sims coming up, its going to be the 737 classic
This is going to end badly, me and my younger brother doing a flight on the a380 xd
V good plejn
Seems like you can buy the 787 separate now in FS20 https://www.flightsimulator.com/march-13-2025-development-update/
i think i figured out autoortho
i didnt have dokan downloaded, now that i do it seems to work
i need to fix my scenery ini though, for some reason i have no buildings now
load order ye
@hollow oracle
got it fixed
honestly, even though it took me like a whole day to get it working, it is SO worth it
11
do u notice any diff in perf w ao
not sure, the MD-11 is quite heavy on performance anyway, so if there is i dont notice it
the rotate MD-11 taxis like a fucking cruise ship, the TFDi one has unresposnive taxi too but nothing near the rotate
you have to take turns at like 6-7 knots or under
the clouds in xplane got me fucked up
are those extremely high alaskan mountains that im about to hit, or is it a weird cloud effect, we will never know
Isn't the gpws suppose to call out terrain otherwise?
yes, but i dont entirely trust xplane yet
Cumulogranitus
XP11 default scenery is ugly as sin. 12 better, but still not great. Ortho is a requirement for both
dont know why the rotate doesnt like replays now, it was working fine last time when i recorded my landing
Just bought the MS ATR
let us know how it is pls
That’s gonna be tough considering I have no idea of how it is supposed to be xD
Plus I have no idea how to fly turboprops
im very close to considering buying the 737-200, but i feel like im making a big mistake considering that i havent done much manual navigation
not to mention in an unfamiliar sim
It is quite fun
Unfortunately seems like no Flightlink livery
And one of the reasons I bought it is to do the flight I did on one irl around new year
And that was on flightlink
Eh, VOR to VOR is easy
i had enough points to get X-CIVA for free too
im honestly kind of surprised that the 737-200 doesnt have a flight engineer, its basically just the 737 NG with only ancient VOR and autopilot systems, and gauges instead of screens, the rest is about the same
oh, huh, you can even fly it with a modern boeing FMS too
and it turns out you dont even need x-civa, oops, at least it was free and i dont really care about rewards points
hah, no IRS' to align
i dont think im going to fly it quite yet, but im glad i have it because i definitely will be eventually
You can kinda see how by the 72 the fe was already almost redundant, so a couple systems are made more automatic and you bump up the pilot and co pilot's workload slightly and you can cut a job
Check back with me in a bit on that one
^^
Where there's still jet airways
Also, if you're doing /a or /w, plan your own flights, don't have them get calculated for you
true, their main function was basically starting up and shutting down, balancing tanks and stuff, and all that can be done by the crew on the ground, and the fuel balancing can be done with extremely primitive tech
So as I'm finding out the camera views on the F28 are very unfriendly
Right so after taking the plane out I had to return to the field as the ADF / NAV compass decided to fail and just keep spinning left
I thought the F28 didn’t have failures
Wish we had some jets even earlier than the 727. Comet. Tu-104 (yeah… I can keep dreaming). Stuff like that
Something didn't seem to set up right, as I couldn't get the Skid test to work properly either
the external engine sounds peak my headphones on startup, but other than that, theyre crazy good
i like how you can switch between PW and GE engines too, and passenger noises arent connected to the passenger version, so if you really wanted, you could fly the freighter versions with passengers in hte back i guess
i am very rapidly catching up to my A320 flight hours in the MD-11, right now i just hit 29, and i have 36 combined hours in the A320 type rating
it also means that, even with the added cost of buying the rotate MD-11 in xplane, im still $5.65/flight hour average with the MD-11
it is my most flown aircraft by 13 hours, the second place most flown is tied at 16 between the B77W/F and A20N
Well worth it I think especially with how cheap it currently is
It’s not overwhelmingly difficult to learn either especially if you know how to fly a 737
They have basically been the same since the -100
Pure VOR navigation is a bit daunting, but I’m sure I can figure it out
It almost seems easier than using the CIVA unit, that way you’re just doing simple VOR to VOR, instead of mixing in stuff like waypoints in the middle
I had a shitty landing in the MD-11 after a 4 hour flight, and the replay wouldn’t load, so I’m pretty down right now
It doesn’t matter if you’re a 10k hours irl pilot, or just a sim pilot with 29 hours, everybody has those landings where you’re like “that DEFINITELY broke something”
Is there a way to create a replay that isn’t your ENTIRE flight?
Wdym?
That is the most important thing IMO
Levelup is the better one which is still actively being developed and updated
TIL that a russian gas company has its own airline
@rustic charm did u know about that
isn't it awfully convenient that Moscow and Montreal are Cross the Pond airports? 👀
maybe
I'll have to figure out if it works in terms of flight time first
Tu-114 is slower than jets
instead of 62 i'll do the reg tu154 tho
you're still flying vor to vor though arent u
Don't think it has enough tange 😅
Yeah, this flight I'm just using the original nav
a dream is a dream
trust
let me check actually
ahah fair
yeah that's the problem 😄
The Tu-154 has an inertial nav system
(NVU)
so that's fine for you
the IL-62 and IL-86, I think had a similar that was quite similar to the CIVA Carousel
The Tu-114 I'll probably have to cheat 🤷
tbf, i don't know how much block fuel the tu154 can take
if only the 154 worked in xp12
pity
I doubt the 154 can do CTP tbh
oh it could
Maybe if very light on payload?
Pretty sure it can
Well just the atlantic yeah
Don't think it would make it from Moscow, but from some other European destinations it would be fine
Maybe without much payload though 😅
You got the Wright Flyer isn't that old enough for ya?
Well
Moscow to the Americas definitely not
I’m pretty sure there were only 2 Soviet planes that ever did something like that, those being Tu-114 (one presidential visit, plus I think they might’ve had a stopover somewhere bit closer in Russia) and Il-96
Il-62 probably could if light?
Not sure if it ever did
IL-62 had loads of range
il62 such an udnerrated plane
I thin it flew straight to Havana
I think so yeah
Not directly from Moscow, I think it needed a stop over in eastern russia
I know that when going to South America they did a refuelling stop on some islands west of Africa, not sure how they would fly to Cuba
also, why did the 62m have a second yoke (or steering wheel?)
guessing that's the tiller?
Probably nosewheel steering
what a funky aircraft
Not even just the nosewheel, I’m pretty sure the 62 also had a tail wheel to aid with manoeuvrability or something
bruh
I'd love a Yak-41/141 for any modern simulator 🫤
Honestly Il-62 would be just wonderful to have
But MSFS will probably not get any Soviet planes
major L
There's a Tushka which is fairly complete
Best we can hope for is that the guy converting the 154 does finish it
If you have Xplane just fly the FJS
It's doing it
it recently had a closed beta test
you can follow him for free on Patreon
i own both the xp and msfs one
Oh right, I completely forgot about that
Fly the XP one
I’ve seen that and actually wanted to apply
