Cracked eggs mean one of the couples on the family tree had an egg but the hatchling died before it hatched.

Tordner and Levina had two eggs well after Lynerius and Tordena, both died before birth, likewise it seems Tordner had many siblings who died before hatchling, a few who lived, but died later in life, perhaps in war.

Well whoever it is weren't crowned the Grand Master of Healing for nothing. They had to have seen stuff like this before, since Grand Masters of Healing are known to saving lives that are on the brink

In Magical status, a dragon of healing magic can, potentially, revive a dragon from death (within a few to several minutes after their death), which would instantly deplete their magic and risk their own life in the process

Those are the elements Spyro learns in the games, but Malefor was stated to get fire, ice then wind in that order, with electric appearing to be his fourth breath.

A premature hatchling can take much longer to develop than others, or even have problems that persist through their whole lives.
some dragon eggs are known to wait for decades to hatch. While eggs may 'intuitively' wait for better conditions to hatch (to certain degrees, the hatchling is able to sense winter weather, heatwaves or drought, and will wait to hatch to increase their odds for survival, up to several moons if necessary) some eggs wait so long, they are believed to have been affected by ancestral intervention. They have been given special purpose, and must wait for a certain point in time to hatch. This is extremely rare, happening only a few times every 500 years.

Gestation lasts three months, and it takes at least six months for the egg to hatch - however, ancestral involvement can prevent an egg from hatching for years, decades, even centuries if needed. No matter how long it takes, the potent magic within dragon eggs will keep a hatchling alive until the right time.

Very conveniently, Jack decided to make the "standard" timings for these dragons the same ~9 months as we expect with real world humans.

He was threatened/blackmailed into going through with it while she was on board from the beginning. Corruption is the process of turning a dragon of natural element into one of the dark elements. This magic can be cast on oneself, or on another. When a Proficient casts the Corruption spell, their magic is depleted entirely. Casting the spell is relatively quick and is finished before the corruption process actually starts. The corruption itself is 'self sufficient' and requires no further magical input, which allows self-corruption.

The actual corruption can take up to one or two excruciating hours, in which the dragon is physically deformed and undergoing rapid, painful growth. There is no control over this transformation, which can cause undesirable results that may cost the dragon their life.

The Corruption magic is strictly forbidden magic, and kept far out of reach from the public. Keeping any instructions on Corruption without permission from the governing body is considered treason and punishable by execution. Planning, attempting, or performing the Corruption is also punishable exclusively with execution.

Becoming a dark dragon would have him executed right away. There's no way Frostpear would allow anyone from their clan to live if they went that far. Besides, they see dark dragons as filthy vermin anyway, so that makes it even less likely for him to go there.

My interpretation: yes. The original curse (disease) is cured, given that Jorhdin is still alive presumably years later. However, the general public of dragons consider Jorhdin to be just as cursed, if not worse, because now we're dealing with a half "corrupted" dragon which may as well be a curse even if Hayze is meant to be a living example that those dragons aren't inherently evil.

I like a story that doesn't pull punches. Not because a story has to to be good, but if you're going to put a certain theme in a story, don't shy away when everything comes to a head.

Now imagine him being nearly fully grown, having mastered all the elements taught to him, his head filled with what the elders and others have told him what his "destiny" is, and then when finally being told "no" by not only his elders, but Hayze too....

We're talking about a walking napalm of a major temper tantrum waiting to happen, especially with how Malefor sheltered he is right now from the world and how much the elders are hiding from him

Malefor even basically repeated what the Elders envisioned him to be:

Malefor: Because I was born here! The Ancestor put me here; I exist to expel the dark! The Ancestors deemed them the enemy of dragonkind, and if I don't succeed in my destiny, then they kill us!

Makes sense. It's the closest thing he has to someone that also experienced what it is like to be treated like a shadow dragon- and maybe the closest to understanding what it even means having undergone it. Probably the first time Hayze has spoken to anyone even remotely close to this.

Huh, so becoming a dark dragon or trying to become one is viewed as denying one from the afterlife set by the Ancestors

In DI, Warfang sees dark dragons as lesser beings, monsters that chose to abandon their lives as normal dragons

In this case, Jordhin’s father sees his son’s attempt to become a dark dragon as so unacceptable that the Ancestors won’t allow him into the afterlife where his family would be waiting for him

I can see it. It feels like a believable view on how this works. Have a dark dragon anywhere in your bloodline and your bloodline is forever corrupted before, during, and for what is to come.

Eh, it depends. From that perspective, if you think about it, it's probably like, "I am dead to them, but if I didn't do this I'd have been dead anyway."

The amount of life and family and friends that are being missed out on is probably causing some nostalgia and regrets, but in a different world where this didn't happen Jordhin would have been actually dead.

So does Jordhin regret doing it? No. Because the alternative means not having a life to regret anything at all. The second chance cost everything, except Jordhin's life. The alternative would have taken even that.
