I do remember clothing was worn on the dragons in the game past cutscenes so maybe this is the Chroniclers sister or cousin 🤔
Yeah they had clothing as shown in the TEN storybook flashbacks
And this is the full image, although a little blurry cause of the game quality
Looks like the 4 main elements and the Chronicler there, also their clothing is different on each one
Cant see earths clothing though -<-"
Ohh now I see it
Ceremonial maybe? To signify their status
Perhaps
Makes sense when you see the Chronicler with a scroll and quil back there
Maybe thier doing thier vows to be a guardian or something
Interestingly I do not see a fire guardian in this picture 🤔
There are 4 dragons, Malefor and the Chronicler
From left to right I think it's
Chronicler
Earth
Electric
Ice
Fire
I see it now yeah I thought the dragon on the far right was earth not fire 😅
I had another thought
Jordhim and Eurune, I have a theory that they could along with The Chronicler be related. Still not entirely sure on it yet though.
We know that The Chronicler originally was an Earth Dragon too.
We know The Chronicler was around during Malefor's reign as well as during the construction of Warfang.
Better image here of the flashback
To be fair, this image may not necessarily represent The Chronicler himself, as per this quote:
In the same flashback image and the image of Warfang being rebuilt in the epilogue, the Dawn of the Dragon character model of the Chronicler was used for the background dragons but with different color palletes. This was likely done to save time and resources for the game.
But pink
Oh I didn't know about that
I thought that was intentional.
Especially considering it looks like the Chronicler but without a beard and not white/light blue.
The devs reused models a lot in dotd
Recycling assets and models is a normal thing to do in games, back then it was. I thought the Chronicler was a wind dragon cause of his colour and patterns and fluffy hair but Im not sure.
It is common ye, but the devs were so crunched they even just reused ignitus' model for all the guardians with minor changes. It was pretty rough. There was so much more variation in the characters in Kromes games.I remember somewhere the modeller had posted how crazy it was somewhere.
When Krome actually showed different designs for background character dragons in a short time and low budget than EL
Oh here's the link you were talking about from the DOTD character modeller, @vague forge
this was my first job in the industry. I was working on several characters at the same time , switching from one to another, so i don't really know the time i spent for each... probably 3 weeks or something...
https://polycount.com/discussion/57321/some-of-my-first-works
This reminds me of my uni experience only 3 weeks to work on a model, no time at all.
Its amazing how they pulled it off but the Guardian designs look so chunky compared to ANB and ETN models
New page!

Hayze’s chain appeared…! Does that mean it was Eurene who collared him with her magic by urging of the Council?
Yes, that would seem to be the case
And Jordhin was Eurene’s apprentice… he did mention he studied under a master

Those eyes. XD

Public reveal of Zseurael’s profile!

And character profile of Eurene revealed!
https://www.destinyintertwined.com/characters/eurune
Eurune is a distant descendant of the current Chronicler, who was alive at the Unification
So the Chronicler we know is already dead and recording the events surrounding DI
Unification is when Warfang was built. So Jack is using DOTD’s take with what we see is the soon to be Chronicler being alive and around when the dragon city was first built
Ah, I see
Unification happened in Year 0 in the First Millenium.
During the comic events, it’s now the year 3016, the fourth millennium
https://www.destinyintertwined.com/copy-of-realm
https://www.destinyintertwined.com/realm
Nevermind then ._. I guess great great great granddaughter
Yep and so we finally have official confirmation on the whereabouts of The Chronicler and his relation to Eurune.
Even though in the normal TLOS canon it's implied the Chronicler was around during Malefor's childhood, I think we can make an exception in this case.
Also holy crap another chapter so soon!
Always trust Jack to come through for his fans. 😄
I have a strong feeling that Eurune is going to be a fan favourite very quickly.
Yeah DI is Jack’s take on TLOS lore surrounding Malefor’s backstory. May not make sense but it’s something he carefully put together in his own way that makes sense to him ^^
I really don't mind honestly.
The Lore around TLOS is vast but very barren at the same time.
There is so much wiggle room to take a different interpretation on things.
And so far he hasn't done anything that I would consider canon-breaking at all.
It compares rather favourably to a large skeleton with very little muscle or tissue; there’s so much to attach to and build off of, but very little detail that actually is
Precisely.
At the very least I haven't seen any of the dragons flying around with a jetpack equipped yet.
Props if any of you got that reference.
Nope, that one is lost on me unfortunately
Prospera gives the rundown on how to be a Dragon Commander!

Huh… well alright then 🤔
Made by the same people that did BG3 by the way.
Or Div OS: 2 - the only game of theirs I’ve played yet far
Yes, I recognized Larian’s name, but alas we are getting off topic now aren’t we
Here, have a smol lad
Yes, splendid.
It almost looks like Aether drew that.
Looks edible

Oh i see he wants some too
leh
not sure if you need it, but here's Reason #2:
I totally didn't spend the last 15 minutes editing this image
Hayze himself alone would give you a hell of a ride, remember what he did to both Vitreus and Malefor?
But Malefor and especially Lynerius would just reduce you to ash.
This is actually every main videogame company rn besides a few outliers
Kind of exactly what I said so ye.
New page!

hmmm
Look how giddy Malefor is X3
His awakened Fire power is beyond Discovered status
I feel like for purple dergs magic comes a lot more easily to them than a standard derg.
Well yeah, they're the legendary purple dragons, they are special among dragon kind for a good reason.
Wonder if it's because they can use Aether since it is the purest form of magic
Fire reference
https://www.fxdeviantart.com/dragonoficeandfire/art/Destiny-Intertwined-Element-Mastery-Chart-925735387
From the shape it looks like "Adept" level?
How well his surroundings ability works will tell us how strong he is. In before he accidentally unleashes a fury.
👀
That fire be pretty
I assume you're referring to Spyro and Cynder. They aren't in this story because it takes place in the distant past, long before they were hatched. It's still a pretty good story, though; I recommend trying to read it anyway, if you can get past the disappointment of Spyro not being in it 😄
God damn another page already!
Jack be treating us this week.
Great to finally get a page that shows Malefor training.
I really like the training area they are using. You can see just how massive it is as well.
Also this is the first page where Terrenus has actually spoken.
The dojo where they’re training in is in the Great Hall where the Summit is at the top. Eurune used her magic to lift the stairway up
So im pretty late on arrival. Whats got everyone captivated?
I'm not sure I understand your question? 😅
I was simply explaining that Spyro and Cynder aren't involved in DI
Best Shadow dragon.
Personally, I like the realistic and dark tone of DI, I got the feeling it makes it set apart from all the other TLOS fancomics I've read so far over the years.
There is some form of realistic tones, like prejudice in a few other TLOS fan comics, but DI shows a different variety of it, at least to me. DI also shows a take on Warfang's society during Malefor's time, the history to how it's built and what's happening outside the city. There's so much effort in the characters, even the canon character Malefor, and lore surrounding it written by Jack (DragonofIceAndFire) and community members of his server.
Im not one for fanfics but this does have some decent undertones of oppression and more subtle interpersonal dramas or gatekeeping or smthn
It’s really quite thorough and deep, in it’s world building, and the characters are quite well written, IMO
Just be aware that the depth and breadth of information here is likely to increase as time goes on
I think fanfics are best when they take the world and expand it into its own story, rather than just taking the characters and forcing them into some scenario that hardly makes sense
Pretty much this with DI.
Although Malefor is a prominent character in this story, I feel like Jack (DragonofIceandFire) understands what Malefor could've been like as a juvenile duiring this period of time.
I'm glad as well that he hasn't tried to make Malefor a copy of Spyro either, very different.
Plus the dragon society compliments all of this too.
Malefor = golden retriever in dragon form
He really is a puppy.
Or making them all be a group centered on heeding to a gary stu or mary sue.
The kind of things that make many a fanfiction suck rotten eggs.
Don't forget the self inserts and all current characters suddenly seeming inexplicably more incompetent than their canon counterparts, especially any that might compete with the self insert's love interest.
Ohh yeah that is a common thing in fanworks
He is in full doge mode atm.
Just look at him!
I like worldbuilding somewhat, but what about the narrative themes?
Or if theres more elaboration on this
Among other things, this story touches on themes such as:
-family and belonging (emphasis on noble families)
-loyalty, whether to family, friends, nation or self
-(in)justice within a stratified society / corruption within high society
-prejudice, especially in relation to race or lineage
So I looked back and read about DI's dragon magic and read under Restraining Magic
Restraining magic essentially creates magic ropes to bind someone. These binds cannot be cut, bit, or forced apart. The only way to free yourself or another from magic binds, besides undoing them with superior magic, is to use elemental magic to destroy them.
Restraining magic can be cast at the Competent level, however the strength and resilience of the binds increases with mastery. While a Competent can slowly undo the binds made by a Practiced caster, they cannot undo the binds created by a Proficient caster.
Similarly, a Skilled element user cannot destroy binds created by a Proficient caster, but an Adept can.
Restraining magic and the binds they create takes after the caster's magic color.
And the color of Hayze and Jordhin's collars is yellow. And who's magic we see is also yellow?
Yep.
Not bad, though not to my interests
Maybe the societal structure injustices is something i could tap into some
fair enough
If you're still on the fence about it, I can recommend reading through just chapter 1. It's only 25 pages, it gives a variety of action, character and lore
I know i tried reading chapter one at some point
Dont recall if i did the whole deal or not
oh, well fair enough
Thanks for being so precise in some of these replies tho
Oh, no worries. I tend to be pretty careful about details and accuracy, sometimes it's hard not to be 😅
I reckon give Chapter 2 a crack as well and see if it does tickle your fancy or not.
Maybe ill get back to you on that?
Thats a good trait tho 😮
O rightn part of the issue was i felt in very little control with deviantarts ui
Theres another website that has individual page links and all that iirc?
Let me see here
There's a link in one of the pinned comments
Unfortunate
the UI is a bit simplistic, but the format works quite well if you're on desktop
Should actually be this one:
https://www.destinyintertwined.com/
Kk
The wiki main page does have a link to the ComicFury site, but as you said, it doesn't work great on mobile
Looking at desktop hasnt faired too much better
The pages are displyed at odd sizes and such
Honestly downloading all the images seems like the best method :p
Yeah, if it works....
There isnt anyone whos archived it like that before?
I wouldn't be suprised if someone has, but we've never bothered to ask
Darn, i was hopin there was an existing folder or smthn
none that I am aware of
I've got an archive actually
les go i was just about to get back to that now that i'm done cookin
destiny intertwined, more like destiny zip foldered

O right i need to get back to that. Either getting tbe archive or archiving it myself
Oh, new page for real this time?
Ohhh Clef... XD
Also the page shows a chilling foreshadowing. Malefor's Fire is already strong, awakened at the Controlled stage, and he has Fire manipulation on the first try...
i can't wait to see malphy put the guardians and the frostspears to their places
"Now he has become the Dark Master, Destroyer of the Realms."
Poor Vitreus.
Really his auntie is the only semblance of family he's got.
He's lucky he ran into Isolda and not the other members of his family
True, they'd have mocked him.
The first 4 letter... smeh

DI on hiatus because Jack’s cat passed away. Let’s give him time and space
Poor Vitreus. The only source of positive reinforcement he has is leaving.
Also RIP Jack's cat.
_ _
Fingers crossed for DI in a few more weeks once Jack gets back from his hiatus.
He'll need the time to process his emotions, him losing his pet is painful to him.
I can relate as someone who along with my mother has lost pets.
Numerous of them.
Character refs have been updated
Even the Frostspears got updated
My boi got an update.
That would be Raii.
I mean, he didn't change at all. We just now know his eye colour, tongue shape and bean colour.
And he got an E added to the end of his clan name.

Seeing em side by side, Raii’s markings got a little more dark orange in em now! They’re not mono colored like they were
It looks the same to me.
it's super duper subtle, but it's a lot easier to see on his thigh marks. oh and that one new marking too lol
They're also a little sharper, I think is the right word?
Oh yeah, I can see it now. Hopefully he gets more lines and doesn't get murderized in a terrible way a few chapters from now.
So all that talk about Hayze being a threat to their society was all just an excuse to discredit Stormbringer because they have more power over the Army
And Frossar, he was raised from birth to hate the Stormbringers, including his rival Lynerius
yup
Squeak
Damn, shots fired at Frossar from Isolda.
So it's not even actually that the Frostspears are xenophobes it's just that Frossar and Isrun are straight up jealous of Lynerius and Tordner.
Them having more influence over the army, while the Frostspears only have the city guard
They're always jealous.
from beginning
because of clan in 1st.
With most reputation of course.
Welp, with nobility power and influence has always been the most important thing to them
I suspected we would get a chapter given Jack did say it would be a 2-3 week hiatus (and rightfully so btw). So basically the Stormbringers and Frostspears are fighting for influence over the Warfang Army.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this boils over.
And further hones in on the fact that Frossar is a bitter ol' bastard over this.
Another new page!
And... poor poor Vitreus... screw Frossar man...
https://www.deviantart.com/dragonoficeandfire/art/Destiny-Intertwined-Page-145-983369167

Fathers like this get whats coming to them
Sweet jesus.
It's even worse than I thought.
Poor Vitreus.
Straight up to his face tells him he won't heal it, in a world where easy healing crystals exist.
'No son your not allowed to heal that wound cause you gotta show them that boys a monster'
The irony is definitely not lost on us with that one.
What idiocy is that -.-
I'd give him one heck of a smacking for saying that if I could
"Are you giving up on protecting our kind so easily?" Manipulation at it's finest.
Yep
Boy needs a break, I kind of hope he gets away from his father for good, I know he was the bully but it just shows hes going through a lot as well
He wasn't just a bully. Following his character and home life shows what really goes into what makes someone a bully.
Yeah exactly
He wouldn't be the way he was if his father didn't brainwash and outright use him as a tool.
Even worse, it seems, it's not even that Frossar does it out of any sincere belief that dark dragons are evil, he's ruining his own kid, and his own character all because he's jealous of Lynerius.
Yeah hes using his son to get the upper gain but as soon as hes no use then he just doesn't care about him unless hes useful to him again
I'm hoping Vitreus gets the wake up call before he ends up to brainwashed
He already has.
He's seen how his family treats him, and how Hayze treated him compared to the Frostspear clan.
The council scene was the real breakthrough.
From the fight he had, he looks more conflicted and trying to understand why his father is like the way he is
I glad his auntie is helping figure things out
Get a good look at Vitreus' face, after he came back from the council.
Also factoring in that his father is pulling him out of class away from all his peers, all the people his age that he's ever known.
Probably isolating him to gain more control over him sadly
There's a good mix of guilt, sadness, but also anger.
His brows are furled so clearly he's realizing how bad his family is and he's growing disillusioned with them.
That's one thing I love about the comics is how well Jack conveys the emotions of the characters in just the faces alone, and how complex you can see they are.
Yeah Jacks good at doing that
Vitreus from what I see both feels sorry for Hayze and realizes what happened to him, and how he ended up being part of subjecting him to the fate he was given, he's also heartbroken at the prospect of losing all of the peers he's ever known, and it all culminates in him being angry at his family, particularly his father for how they treated him, and are alienating him from everyone.
Vitreus may be young, he may be "The bully", he may have been manipulated, but he's clearly not stupid.
Vitreus' face in the first panel, it's not only receptive to reassurance from his aunt, the only relative who cares about him, but it's also her words about her brother sinking in.
He knew the way his family acted and treated him, particularly his father, and with his dad, he now sees why: He's a jealous little bitch.
Don’t forget he has a murderous older brother who bullies him
True, but he has no real personal or ideological agenda other than to elevate himself no matter who he hurts, because he's literally a psychopath.
He does it because he can.
I now cannot wait for the day that bastard Frossar falls along with his family (save for the daughter and Vitreus, they can stay).
Can't be bad in the future
It's very unlikely his brother would kill Vitreus.
But only torture and tease at the same time.
I dont know why but I got a Beserk reference in my head just then
Berserk PTSD intensifies
Dang, just caught up to speed on this
well, once more, fuck the frostspears
Hopefully, Isola will help Vitry get out if all this...
Probably can't do much but she can at least explain their clan's corruption like what she's doing here
You gotta feel for Isola as well, she went through the same thing but managed to leave and get away from it.
Now her nephew is going through the same thing, the concept of status and keeping basically the purebred of Ice alive really just justifies why this is just so wrong, but some family lines did do this to keep the family tree big and known
I doubt he can get away that easily since his life is already set up to go in a certain direction with his family, but it would be nice to see him rebel and stand up against his own father or even his own grandmother
I wonder how Isola got out of it though, makes me very curious how she did it 🤔
Given her 'rebel' status, I'm guess that she behaved in such a way that the clan wanted nothing to do with her
They wanted her to join the guard but she chose to pursue magic instead.
On her wiki entry, it's said her family was utterly disappointed over her having the common Ice element coloration instead of a rare purple ice element the Frostspears were hoping for
https://www.destinyintertwined.com/characters/isolda
Isolda was born to Isrun, the current Frostspear Matriarch, in her third clutch. Her father was a clanless purple ice dragon, contracted to Isrun in a failed attempt to introduce purple ice into the Frostspear family. Isolda was in a clutch of two, with her hatching hours before her clutch brother, Skadin.
Because of her coloration, she was hoped to possess purple ice like her father. When her element presented however, it was white, and an event that should have been exciting and joyful, was met with utter disappointment from her family. This permanently damaged Isolda's relationship to her element, and caused her to lean heavily on magic.
Wow..I hate them even more for looking down at her for not having purple ice, like that's just cruel
I doubt she cared too much. Was probably glad she didn't have it
Yeah probbably
She believed she would be praised when she got her element, purple or not, “an event that should’ve been exciting and joyful” but wound up disappointing her family
I think the "an event that should’ve been exciting and joyful" pertains to the fact that everyone gathered to celebrate her getting purple ice, and ended up being disappointed by her regular ice, not necessarily that gaining an element is always a massive joyful event
Wow does this remind me of Encantos scenario
Their about to awaken/ unlock their special ability only to not receive anything and be a complete disappointment in the family and are just there
could be subconcious inspiration xD
our brains love to recycle stuff without us realizing
Very true
Though I do like how Jack shows more distance of Isolda and her actual family, while in Encanto the bond is fixed and everyone can heal
Not all families do this so the representation of a dysfunctional family because of higher reasons mainly their own hubris and status is a nice touch to add in the comic
When a dragon turns to the dark, does their element become a specific one?
Like nature becomes poison, fire becomes shadow, that kinda thing?
I was curious what ice would become, if this is the case
Fear I would guess.
Who knows. We really don't know much about the Dark Dragons and their elements right now. There's not even info about them on the official wiki
They added a Warfang City page! New info! And 3D models to few of the key areas (so far the Ancestor Temple, Crescent Hall, Warfang City Temple, and the Army Fort)
https://www.destinyintertwined.com/warfang-city
Well this is interesting indeed.
Not just the new artwork for the city
But also the information regarding the Underground City
It's basically a place rife with crime.
Awww
The purpose of the Underground City was to expand housing options to keep most of the above-ground Warfang City high class and peaceful, and this partially succeeded.
Isolda's name is not only a real given name in German and Welsh, also spelt as variants such as "Isolde" and "Ysolda" but the meaning of the name is interesting, and fitting for the context of the story.
It is influenced by the Brythonic "Adsiltia" which means "She who is gazed upon" refering to beauty, but it's main root words are the old High German word "īs" meaning Ice, and "Hiltja" meaning "Battle".
"Ice battle", the fact that Isolda is at odds with and detests the ways of the Ice clan, the Frostspears.
Neat
I like etymology in lore
I wonder if it’s intentional
What about Vitreus then
Where does his name come from?
There's Vitreous which means glass. But I don't think that's what Jack is going for here.
Unless he's meant to be like glass, like fragile.
Speakiing of Vitreus:
I can't wait to see him finally hit his adult stage.
I’m excited to see all of their adult forms, honestly
Oh definately. Like as a whole, I'm so keen to see the dragonets finally become fully grown
One of them in particular is Malefor, how he'll look before he becomes corrupted.
If this comic is still following the original lore, then Malefor will be banished when he's an adult/young adolescence.
He had a fragile ego in his bully phase.
Who made this?
It's very good. Also seeing Frossar with a tear in his eye makes me very happy.
That's not Frossar, that's Icarius, also, I'm pretty sure those are his actual eyes, not tears.
:v
It's not frossar x.x
And not a tear.
Just neutral face while waving.
And it's Icarius dork!
Sorry, they all look the same to me.
(don't cancel me)

Speaking of Malefor me and hun noticed something in his design over time, when Malefor gets corrupted and chooses dark Aethur, his horns over time in the game started to split further apart from his head. You can see this in the statues, im hoping Jack shows this in the comic as well
Yep, this is intentional
Could also be when they were designing him for DOTD they wanted to really emphasize how evil he had become too.
DOTD redesigned Malefor’s original Krome Studios designs
In Destiny Intertwined, Jack said Malefor’s DOTD design will be used in some way
His appearance is based on his The Eternal Night depiction, though his Dawn of the Dragon appearance is not entirely disregarded.
Sounds like it'll be a design that encompasses both.
Interesting, on those statues, it looks like Malefor is wearing some sort of chestpiece that also covers his shoulders too.
Not sure if it's armour or some ceremonial thing.
According to the artwork of the temple statue, it’s a ceremonial piece Malefor’s wearing
Ah yep that definately looks ceremonial too.
The Well of Souls statue added more tweaks to the design, like a scar on his left eye and other changes likely done by his Dark Aether corruption
I'd actually like to see a side-by-side comparisson of both.
Beyond the concept art above.
Younger me never noticed the difference but now I see you're right.
Here ^^
It was posted above too
Sorry I meant how the looked in-game.
I did see the concept art above.
Those are ingame statues
No you're not understanding.
Are there versions with the textures included over the model?
This is what I meant.
Or in-game screenshots
I think, I may have to look and see
The intended idea was for the temple statue to be gold stone, but due to technical constraints of the console versions, it looked like simple stone
Posted in #🔷spyro_chat
Yep
Poor guy
But still
You must understand that Isrun is only one of them are manipulated.
I feel sorry for your ass about Frostir or kinda little hate character about it.
or anything
Isrun is still most evil one than Frossar.
Sorry!
Having no parent love is good way to be manipulated and cruel.
Whatever their choice
Isolda was the favorite and even then she saw her family how they really are; A bunch of cold-hearted elitists who's children are nothing more than tools.
Yup
Useful until your not and then your nothing more than garbage to them
Skadin had it worse out of the two. Shamed and discarded since birth
Exactly what she points out, and even so, she detests the way her family shunned him.
She only figured it out after being rejected though. She basked in the love and attention until her ice element turned out to not be pure
I get the feeling that was partly why she didn't stick up for her sibling. She was probably scared of receiving the same treatment

Things just keep looking worse and worse on Isrun's behalf. And what a tragic turn for Isolda.
She seems to have pink magic, is that not special?
Good. Fucking. God.
Just....god damn.
Isrun I can''t wait to see die.
We are all gonna rejoice.
No, sadly. Magic works the same regardless of colouration. Elements often have different properties based on their colour.
Oh interesting, I wonder what pink ice would do
Purple ice is also seen as the “purest” form of ice, so there’s a reputation reason, for the entire clan, that they’d want her to have it
Wonder why it’s considered the purest
Maybe something to do with aether
That part I don’t actually know
I'm a little confused at the choice of language calling a dragon a man.
Just seems a bit odd. XD
O
I just noticed lol
I mean, when did you last refer to someone as an elder human? X)
it is odd.
You know what isrun want.
I believe deep blue and purple ice element.
But this is possible for Isrun's next plan
You'll never know, but you'll know soon enough.
Well more like Elder Dragon in this case? XD
I was more referring to the fact that in a lot of literature it's quite common for dragons to refer to each other as dragons, meanwhile humans don't refer to each other as humans, but man, woman, the collective people etc.
So a dragon commenting on another dragon with "Look at what that dragon is wearing" is equivalent to saying "look at what that human is wearing" and it works much less when they're the focus of the story
I actually consider that it would've been a great story-telling tool in societies with both dragons and humans, since dragons refering to each other as dragon would suggest the language and manner of communication was formed by an outside party (humans) which didn't need to distinguish between the collective and the species, cause they were one and the same from the point of view of an outsider
sadly, can't really use that if it's commonplace to call dragons dragon xD
I see what you mean, but at the same time I don't see much difference between saying that "human" and "that man" or otherwise, it's still kind of calling to someone that, depending on the speaker, may refer to an identity the speaker themself shares.
I feel you could just as easily argue dragon/dragoness are a dragon's version of "man/woman", and personally don't see too much true issue with dragons calling each other dragons as I do this it's one of the most easily explained away issues between how a different species, say a dragon, would speak.
I've read a few where the terms dragon/dragonelle (that series name for female dragons) as an analog of man/woman.
Imma move to #💬general_offtopic
"reproduction contract"
that's not the usual term, iirc their version of marraige is being "united"
That would be correct. Within DI, “Unity” is their term for marriage.
Within clans, however, it’s often common practice to have “reproductive contracts”, which are more or less what they sound like.
The wiki explains it better than I can, however, so I’ll just direct you to the relevant section:
https://www.destinyintertwined.com/dragons-society
Subheading: “Love, Marriage, and Eggs”, paragraph 3
My hate for Isrun had gone up through the roof. But now? It’s gone through the stratosphere.
Isolda being not just an aunt, but the mother that Vitreus needed, and otherwise would've never had.
Because of how cold and heartless Vitreus' biological mother is.
I didn’t know she had a kid
If it hasn’t been mentioned before, makes me wonder if somethings gonna happen to it 👀
I’m a lil confused about family trees too
So the ice matriarch is the magic lady’s mum, but isn’t she also the lil ice guys mum too? So they’re brother and sister?
Also wasn’t Frossar her brother too?
Though that’d mean the ice matriarch had a kid with her son

The Ice matriarch is Vitry's grandmother. His mother is from another clan and only shows up for one page back in ch2
It's not not the most clear unless you go back to reread the first couple chapters, though, so I can see how it'd be confusing
And yeah, there's never been mention of Isolda having (living) children before this, so I'm concerned as well.
I wonder if my niece is old enough to enjoy this comic too
She’s 11 I think? Started being a lil edgy so I don’t think it’d be too dark
Born in the year of the dragon, too! With the element of water
Well there are some scenes of violence and some scenes can be a bit much for youngsters which is why some pages are covered by the tag mature content on DA
Ages 17-18+ at least for the comic itself
Yeah I was going to say since I looked at the content warning, its not appropriate for a 11 year old
Aww okay
there are some things in the comic that are a bit too uhhhh
silly
Like?
There was this one thing much earlier in the comic
Idk if I should mention it here
Honestly, the CW list here pretty much covers all the obvious things, aside from language which also can be rather adult at times. Beyond those, there’s also a lot more nuance and complexity to the story that a child would probably not understand very well.
Oh no... a miscarriage.
Or sabotage.
I'm not surprised with all that stress
I was afraid this was going to happen ;w;
Dragon biology in DI from the wiki
After around 3 months of gestation, a dragon lays its eggs, and the hatchlings within will continue to develop. At birth, the egg shell is somewhat soft, but will quickly expand and harden, becoming quite thick.
||What about artwork of Lynerius choking Isrun while she was fighting back?||
||I still know this was uncomfortable or unexpected answer to say but still. Regardless another page made me sad for last time.||
Where was that and what does it have to do with this current scene? Unless you're just talking about how dark the story can be.
||And just to be clear you're talking about literal choking, right? If so, after everything Isrun did it'd be nothing but entertaining to see that.||
@limpid wolf Bud. Isrun did more than that but still isrun and villain is required to get rid of.
Isrun may sound like ice bitch but still. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
||instead of choking.. Perhaps something dfifferent than that.||
At first Isrun didn't seem that bad, just xenophobic and snooty, but then it just got worse and worse.
Including especially how she treaterd her own children.
Isolda and Skadin both.
Though you might like this https://www.deviantart.com/hikari-no-rail/art/Sad-Dragons-986097186
I like Terrenus
I'm glad you do :v
I still know Terrenus looked at Hayze during chapter 2.
Lmao
Malefor is just happy to be there
It fits when you consider that Hayze was infact arrested by Frossar.
Malefor doesn't know or care what it's about he just wants to do something with Hayze.
Even though Hayze was basically sentenced to living in what amounts to Malefor's house.
Bro mah boi Terrenus is BEEFY.
He could probably bench press most dragons with the amount of testosterone he's packing alone.
For the love of god don't challenge him to an armwrestling contest (or wrestling of any kind). 😄
This was also updated to Terrenus' profile as well.
Basically this guy mastered his elemental manipulation before finally being able to breathe it.
He's simply built different
Them Earth Dragons are like Popeye, they eat their spinach every day.
This is cut from the episode Too weak to work, if you want the theme as a music file, maybe for a ringtone, use Clipconverter.
:v
I could buy commissions for Terrenus
but that's plan for while now.
Still gotta wait until three commissions to be finished.
I would love to see those. We've already got Nivalis artwork of him reading. I'd love to see someone do one of Terrenus doing some sort of activity.
Will do.
also WIP
Herakidpatrol's style
She's lovely though.
A lovely artist herakidpatrol.
Very nice!
Who da green goober
That’s Imerus, another soldier under Lyner’s devision
Isn't that the soldier that's in love with Lyn as well?
Correct. Imerus does in fact have a massive crush on Lyner
Imerus is one of his sub...ordinates, along with Raii.
Full wiki page enty on Imerus here
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zQJbkkRu2ep-yMfryjN_MLQ6PsFKbe-6JmLmg_WIh_Y/
HEH
*WEH
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH
^
Many dragons have a crush on Lyn.
And sadly for them it oftentimes is not reciprocal.
Ontop of Lynerius being contracted to an arranged marriage to Auralis, which isn't what he wanted, but atleast Tordner hooked him up with a quality wife, you gotta give him that.
Well, not my dragon.
I noticed something
:v SQUEAK!
as sad as this is, the first panel looks adorable with Vitreus next to Isolda like that
It just looks worse and worse on Isrun.
👀
Yeeeep Tordner was actually onto something when he taunted Lynerius about liking other men.
Damn
I mean it also does say on the same article that Lynerius is bisexual.
Ah
^ you mean this guy?
That would be lieutenant Raii, if that’s what you’re asking

Still feel bad for skadin
I do too.
He sees his family is bad, he doesn't want to be bad, but he feels trapped.
One of the many side effects of abuse. You know they are bad but they constantly make you feel like you are nothing without them so you end up feeling like you can't do anything without them
Mhm, that's how abusers get their victims, the physical and obvious acts would never slide without the way an abuser mentally breaks or manipulates their victims.
Yup
Stockholm syndrome on an extra twisted level
When in that cycle, you can seek out that kind of sadness too
It can become addicting
Which is why when people who were abused as a kid try to move on and find a relationship they only end up repeating the cycle by finding and settling with another abuser, because that's all they know.
It’s very sad, yeah
I was in a short relationship with a man who was abused when he was younger, he left me for another abuser
I think he just, craved the feeling
Wasn’t used to having a nice person treat him well
She does not allow him to be in contact with any women now, so I have not heard from him since
I hear she || hits him :/ ||
Without getting off-topic (in saying that I'm sorry to hear you had to experience that). That is classic stockholm-syndrome. The abused get so accustomed to it they can't see beyond that.
I could get another Skadin artwork.
If you like to
With Isolda?
There still 4 artwork currently WIP.
The 4th one is for LastKrystalDragon. not like DI related.
I'd love to see one of Amberius
That is one very, VERY awkward campfire right there.
LET THERE BE BLOOD!!!
pfff
Ooooo a new side story featuring Skadin is coming
After an offer from Clan Glacehelm, Chief Isrun has decided that her son, Captain Skadin, is to be unified.
Content warning
Intentional and unintentional misgendering
Arranged marriage
Age gap
Emotional abuse
https://www.fxdeviantart.com/dragonoficeandfire/art/Destiny-Intertwined-Be-Useful-988931854
Just read it. The story is bittersweet
It mentions there's an age gap between the characters, I'm guessing in this Skadin is a, still young, but older adult and the person he's in an arranged marriage to has only freshly become an adult?
Oh, yep.
I dont really mind if they're still adults
Still kinda
tho
Yeah the thing about age gap is, generally, if it's two consenting adults, it's two consenting adults, there's nothing you can really say about that as weird as it can sometimes be. The problem is in the story, the marriage was arranged when Skadin was well into adulthood and Hivere was still, in their culture, a teenager, Yes the marriage takes place when she comes of age, but Isrun still made the plans to marry Skadin off to them while they were still a child.
God I feel sorry for Skadin.
I know how you feel
Oooo new DI Holidays and Special Days details on the Dragon Society page
https://www.destinyintertwined.com/dragons-society

hehe~
doin good!
Good good :>
Damn
Very nice!
Ohp, it's him again.
That psychopathic stare in his eye in the last panel, Yeesh.
It's piercing.
And more slasher stare, too.
That lad is gonna kill us all
I actually like Frostir's design and appearance but by god, he is such a sadistic freak.
Always lovely sadistic freak
Oh yeah..
Had to change commissions
From Undacus and Tordena to Frostir and Vitreus.
And as of recent he's now gotten the most twisted evil eye I've seen in a long time.
Between this fanart piece and the comic.
Something like that
I'm talking about his piercing stare.
He's got a death stare that could give Puss n' Boots death a run for his money.
Ngl
I'd like to get a wind dragon that's in IceAndFire's style
I nearly fainted with that stare god damn
I don't think I've seen many glances like this that so clearly say "I'm gonna off an innocent person".

Hey again everybody! Been a long time since I last posted a new track, but here it is... my annual Halloween creation! Usually I do something mysterious or bouncy, but this time I wanted to do something a little different... a track that could actually borderline scary, something with a bit more tension. A...
He gives me classic Joker vibes
But I know if I got on his bad side I bet id get ice bladed .__.
Oh man
Yeah I'd definitely say this isn't going to end well 😬
i feel like this situation is going to give truth to what incendis said
God damn.
Boi! get your sniveling claws of him!
Funny because ice
You get it
He deserves something, at the least for dissing Isolda.
pfff!
👀 ono
Frostir's manipulating Vit now... hisss.... And he said one of the chapter teaser arc words too!
They're different from us, that makes them a threat.
Frostir is wrapped in his own twisted world too, even sees the commoners as a danger to what Frostspear stands for. Practically anyone different from Frostspear is considered a threat
"Our blood is above theirs, they despise us" Despite the fact that the Stormbringers are a military clan and the Frostspears are... essentially equatable to a cop family.
Isrun and Frossar both being jealous of Lynerius for his greater prestige and might.
and their bias is passed down to their most broken and murderous heir to the family
we're gonna need bigger hammers
Oh lord.
And just like his Grandmother, refers to Hayze as an "it".
Talk about superiority complex.
Aye hes so brainwashed
Squeak :v
No, not hammers for this one.
Give me a flamethrower.
Burn them all.
perhapples
Heck yeah. I'll use my Sunfire! :3
I feel like Vitreus has a little bit of sympathy fir Hayze now
He's long had it. Ever since after the council incident, you can see on his face he feels guilty about being involved in Hayze being unjustly persecuted.
Between the scene at the council and how they treated Hayze despite how nice he was to him compared to his family, and his father pulling him out of his classes with all the kids he's known his whole life, just look at his face.
It's a perfect mix of anger, sadness and guilt.
He's a victim of his family plain and simple :<
Most certainly.
The wiki also confirmed that Frossar purposely placed Vitreus in Hayze's flight from the start
In other words, Frossar purposefully put Vitreus there to target Hayze and get him in trouble, ultimately just to hurt Lynerius.
And once Vitreus no longer served that purpose he pulled him out.
And Frossar did all this all because he's jealous of him.
In 3006, he (Vitreus) joined the Temple School, and was slotted into a Flight with no other clan dragons. This was odd, but Vitreus did not know that.
Frossar also wanted Vitreus to call out for Hayze's execution and do more during that fated meeting
And somehow this does not surprise me. Frossar may just be a pawn in Isrun's game but for him, he will use any opportunity to one-up Lyn. At the same time this does not in any way excuse him from being an absolute bastard.
and that is sadly an understatement
i don't think there is a word to describe his behavior
and it's even worse with isrun
A petty child throwing a tantrum? Take your pick
A dragon from a broken society my sona would save and give a new home in a heartbeat, and try to do the same for his family members
Yep, awr
Does destiny intertwined interact more with themes of the source material or themes of its own invention?
By themes I mean morally rather than world building to be clear
Yeah, in that case it's fairly different from TLoS. There are themes of self vs family/ nation, corruption of society, racism, just to name a few...
Actually, in a lot of ways, it's similar to Star Wars - comparing the original trilogy (IV, V and VI) to the prequal trilogy (I, II and III)
It's game of thrones with dragons as far as I've seen
Like remove malefor which appears so rarely and it has nothing to do with the source material at all
I thought game of thrones had dragons lol
The Star Wars OT, and TLoS both deal with a fairly straightforward moral dilemma: a small force of dissidents fighting an overwhelming evil power
Star Wars PT and DI both deal with the moral greyness of a large society/ empire with good and bad elements mixed throughout
That explanation is a bit quick-and-dirty, and it's not a clear cut as that, but it's a start
I mean I adore the prequels but I dont see the relation or necessity to tlos.
More secondarily, there's already implication that the ancestors have failures that led to Malefor and that Cynder / Spyro aren't immune to similar fates
I mainly compare to SW because it's something that a lot of people know, and has a lot of decent parallels
I'm not entirely sure who you mean regarding "the ancestors", but with the way it's shaping up currently, it's likely that the Elders in the time of DI play a major role in shaping Malefor into the villain we know him as in TLoS
Also, yeah. I would agree that Spyro/ Cynder aren't immune to similar fates. That said, I think that both the state of their world, plus who they are as people (personality, soul etc) is enough difference so as to make it unlikely.
Tl; dr - I don't see TLoS Spyro or Cynder ever becoming villains like Malefor, but I also wouldn't say it's impossible
So its expanding on whats implied in tlos
yeah
The writer works tries very hard to avoid contradicting anything in the main games
Thats respectable but sounds more like what I understand of the kotor situation?
But as far as relating to source material, its mainly malefor motivations backstory stuff and then the rest is original?
Just read the comic
I read the first half of ch 1 i think
Like this
In ANB/TEN - The dragon who becomes the Chronicler was alive when Malefor was young
In DOTD - The dragon who becomes the Chronicler was alive when Warfang was built
In Destiny Intertwined - The dragon who became the Chronicler was alive during Warfang's construction (aka Year 0 The Unification) and is deceased, and now recording history. His distant descendant, a dragon resembling the Chronicler (Eurene) is alive when Malefor was young
And that's one thing that separates Destiny Intertwined from so many other fan works; The author works to ensure that the setting does not contradict or disregard the lore of the original works.
But rather it compliments it.

I already see the chronicler with those implication and effect (i think) idk about distant ancestors, thats pretty removed. I dont really feel theres as glaring of holes related to the war as people tend to feel ig?
Jack confirmed that Eurene is a distant descendant of the Chronicler we know in TLOS. The Chroncler is already dead and recording history in DI
https://www.destinyintertwined.com/characters/eurune
Just read the comic, theres a lot of info in the chapters
But il say Jack does a good job at tying in the lore with the origin story of Malefor
Yea what im trying to say is idc about a descendant of the chronicler, that is so far removed given how long an age lasts in tlos
I read a good bit but resizing every page and the ui of sites became too cumbersome
Iirc there's two main sites to try? One that's deviantart and another that is a comic archive site? I tried both on mobile and desktop I think. Likewise I'd visited the destiny intertwined website a couple times
Okay, fair enough
I’ve had the best time reading it via the archive on desktop.
I just know that reading it on mobile can be difficult, regardless of which site you use
Yeah
Any particular viewing mode?
The ones I've used before I end up needing to scroll over a whole panel
It’s still hosted by ComicFury, but the URL and formatting are different
Same deal
Strange
It's on Chrome, Windows 10 🤷♂️
Maybe try a different browser?
Oh, you know what, it's actually like that on my end too. I'm just dumb and forgot 😅
I've just gotten used to it
It's generally not necessary to see the whole page at once, so I don't mind it
Ill just read the whole thing in an hour ig
just putting it as a point of where i'm at
still going but for my own note there is a spelling mistake on page 54
Yeah, that happens occasionally
I mean, in editing, sure
Oh since im coming up to it, it seems chapter 3 is still in development, yes?
Yeah, ch3 is still releasing page by page right now
Ive had a lot of thoughts through reading but I'll have to collect them after my motivation to read dwindles
Glad to hear you're enjoying it lol
More mixed honestly but Im trying to be attentive
Fair enough
I should only have a few more pages of ch2 to finish when i return from church
Im at the night of celebration / betrothment
Your monitor is either small, or low res, or...I don't know something just looks off about it. That's probably why you can't view it all in one screen.
Frostir tryna dig into Vit's brain and twist it.
Another key feature of psychopaths; manipulation.
Its a laptop
I forget if I got to try on pc
Damn Frostir needs to back off
Either way, weird considering these are fairly standard sizes
Hammers
btw i shall still finish DI chapter 2 but I have a chunk of paperwork to plow through
Shows how easy I am to manipulate, the fact I was there like “huh maybe he’s right, maybe he’s just looking out for lil frosty, he just has a bit of an aggressive way of doing so”
Or maybe that feeling is right 👀
Naivety, it's a vulnerability that manipulators look for.
Mhm
And they know how to prey on a person's insecurities
Another key characteristic of psychopaths and sociopaths.
They see a vulnerability, they do not hesitate to capitalize on it to get what they want.
Plus Vitreus is already in a vulnerable state, after the meeting that nearly got Hayze killed, him attacking his classmate, and see the dark side of his family
DI uses lots of established ideas from TLOS series as well as a lot of concepts that didn't make the cut. Stuff that Jared Pullen, one of the devs on TLOS confirmed in interviews himself.
But at the same time it brings a lot of these concepts into the story in an interesting way.
Hes an artist, not a dev, but curious if so
He was lead concept artist of the first two Legend of Spyro games
Yes
He focused on helping build the universe of those games such as characters, enemies props and landscapes, he knows more lore on the games world building than anyone else does
Any specific cut concepts from tlos you can point to occuring in DI that I can look for?
Probably best to read up on it so you see for yourself
I have been
One of the big things was confirmation that there were other Guardians. Including one for each of Cynders elements (Poison, Wind, Fear and Shadow). He also revealed that Spyro's purple element that he uses in both his fight with Cynder and Malefor was in fact Aether. In his fight with Gaul this was Dark Aether. Aether in essence is the element of "matter".
I recommend reading the whole interview., it's on deviantart. Very fun to read about.
Regarding Cynder, had she not been corrupted, was a Wind Dragon (or rather that is what the artists intended), hence why she gains the power of wind whereas her other 3 elements are dark elements.
Water as an element was going to exist orignally and Cyril was to be the Water Guardian but this was changed to Ice instead.
Ice is cooler, literally.
If there was to be a water element I would of preferred it to be a female dragon
Ice is cool but water is barely used in games with elements
Cyril WAS going to be a female water guardian
Yep
And I just read that bit too.
Cyril was originally going to not only be the water guardian but female too.
But this got scrapped of course.
Jared Pullen also has an inactive DA account where he explains the four elements and Aether, even story ideas on ANB and TEN, on HD concept art submissions he worked on
https://www.deviantart.com/that-spyro-guy
I did watch him awhile back but he later moved onto other projects, I was keen to know more about the games lore and concepts from him
Oh right i forgot the water thing but do remember all of these.... but just presenting the information doesnt grant much use for it? Im waiting to see why ideas are presented or how they develop atm
Would of been neat to see guardians of the dark elements
Wholly agree.
I’m curious to see what this guys design of a water dragon looks like
Not sure but during development of DOTD there was concept art of Spyro fighting a massive sea serpent.
Oh damn that's badass.
Really showed how many ideas they had but couldnt implement them all
Squeak
such is the way on small budget
maybe the destroyer was originally an elemental being
that would have been so cool, several phases using different elements as a body
Yeah such is the curse of crunch time in game development.
And sometimes ideas get scrapped simply because they just don't fit in the game.
They really thought they could be Insomniac crunching out a masterpiece each year.
I don't think it had anything to do at all with that dude.
That's a big claim with no basis.
I'm just joking.
Few can be as based
Even though insomniac themselves hated that
Insomniac never hated those games they were just mainly focused on Ratchet and Clank anyway
Dang! XD
Almost posted it too lol
"We are the leaders and voices of all ice dragons."
"We are Warfang Guard, and through our leadership, we maintain peace and order in our nation"
We don't have the same definition of "peace" and "order"
I like the way Tordena is shown in this piece.
The artstyle well captures a "tough gal" look in her.
Don't buy a lick of it, Vitreus, you know he's just full of it.
Vit’s in vulnerable state right now, probably can’t tell who is right
Like me all the time lol
"Oh did I forget to mention that we're also all a bunch of psychopaths too?"
Basically Big Brother telling Vitreus to harden the fuck up and earn daddy's respect.
Ya know who this reminds of....
Oh wait, this guy:
As in Frossar.
Frostir meanwhile:
Vitreus should know first hand there's no earning his father's respect. With how much disdain Frossar treats him with.
That's just it, he doesn't yet. Right now he's going through that development. Especially after Isolda's chat.
They were overworked and felt they did all they could with spyro. Also the latter 2 entries have some odd padding stuff so I cant imagine they were as passionate
Man im gonna be fucked its been like 2 days and I already forgot practically everything from DI
Oh man, Insomniac absolutely loved Spyro. But that's just it. Like Naughty Dog with Crash, they were done after 3 games.
All 3 games had also done very well and made them a lot of money.
:v
Made perfect sense to move onto a new project.
Yiou know what commissions DI that i am about to do next
Which?
Lynerius's niece.
oooooh
Maybe not right time yet
I'm still curious as to what his brother Styrmer looked like.
Yeah right now he's being told one thing while he was told another by Isolda, contradicting views and he's at the very middle
SQUEAK!!
Wish people would apply this to most other franchises
Awwwww… yeahh Vitreus is so broken and confused… and Frostir knows he’s got him under his thumb now…
https://www.deviantart.com/dragonoficeandfire/art/Destiny-Intertwined-Page-159-993428961
It’s great!
I get the feeling Vit is gonna snap and end up becoming a psycho killer
NOOO
Qu'est-ce que ç'est
Duh nuh nuh nuhh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuhh nuhhh
:v
It's not too late for our boi Vitreus.
He can be saved.
I can definately see him trying to win his father's approval and then having it backfire on him.
I wanna slap Frostir so hard, boi get your claws of him
Bit too late though.
Accept your fate.
Or hit him with hammers
No! It's never too late! He is but a boy!
You know it
it'll be always too late :>
He hasn't done anything malicious yet
We can still save him!
Very cool!
How much was the reference sheet?
I’ve got an idea for a character is all
From Dragonoficeandfire? :v
You could get base.
For Dragonoficeandfire commissions is closed indefinitely.
But ya. You can certainly try to commissions some of artist to let do that for you like LastKrystalDragon
For that base reference sheet
Excellent pieces, especially the Malefor one.
Nice~
Both are very nice 💖
Lol I had a dream there was a new page
In it the older brother had his paw on Vit’s head, pushing him to the floor :o That’s all I can remember
Not out of character for him.
:v
It'll give false reality though.
Anything can make bad happening to these character in comic.
