#Train like a bender ! (IRL WORKOUT)
1 messages · Page 2 of 1
I can’t lift them yet XD
I used to use them in the past and I enjoy them! My muscles have completely atrophied with me being so sedentary now
practice dumbell equivalents and youll be doing it in no time !! jd gotta get ur chest and arms to level 2 remember
What other kind of fitness stuff are y’all into?
i do calisthenics and plyometrics !!
i add in dunbell weights but thats my most bc im afraid thats all i have
but i play basketball and do boxing for cardio!!
sounds fun!
I’m quite sedentary rn but
I’m working on going to the gym more and walking. I also bike short distances.
I want to build up into running long distance for cardio!
I used to hike but don’t really have the opportunity anymore
All of them are in my region so nothing exotic. But I personally love when there’s a lot of creeks and trees <3 I live in an arid region so it’s always a treat when things feel more not like that
Ahh that sounds so cool
I would do ~8 hour hikes
if you ever start to get back into it you should totally try different regions if granted oppurtunity , sounss fun
WOAH 😭 bravo
My former navigator is no longer a part of my life and I’d be too afraid to get lost
I hope in the future to be able to do true hiking again
ahh
plyometrics helps sm
that plus agility and flexibility training would be good
How would you define plyometrics?
Different than HIIT?
I’m sorry, I am not knowledgable with this. I lowkey don’t see a big difference
ahh so HIIT is interval right?
thats like
30 secs on 15 secs off repeated
plyometrics follows normal circuits ( reps and sets ) but with things like jumping on boxes
tbh idk why hiit is called hiit lol , its circuit training imo
Okie!
yeaa
So mixing cardio and strength into the same workout?
unrelated but whats ur fav dnd class? im currently making my first xhar
I don't know how ya'll be jumping on them boxes
Paladin
yeppers
My ass is just stepping up
Which subclass! I’ve played a sorc before it was real fun
high elf(?) I think thats what that means lol
My longest played classes are Paladin, Rogue, Sorc, and Fighter (didn’t enjoy that one though).
That would be the race, subclasses are specific flavors of a class
ah im afraid im not too sure
For ex — a shadow sorcerer vs a celestial one
oo will keep in mknd
OH i wanted to make mine related to shadow magix
but the app idk how to use the app i got properly ngl
it’s all good!! I’m just super into this stuff, feel free to ask if you want help. I’m not great at min maxing but lots of things I know well for dnd
ah i dont plan to anywho :)) jus wanna have fun with friends
if you wanna chat more about dnd we should prolly DM cos this is the fitness channel XD
Yep
tyy
Every gain you get in the gym is an XP earned by your character
Gotta get them 10th-level spells
ty
yessurr
Heyyyooo
I got you covered
Idk that's a lot of reps for 5 days a week
Simply adjust it to whatever your ability level is
Just like everything else
Do what you can and do your best
half all the sets unless its 2 or 1 sets and itll be good imo
bc thats wayyy too much volume lol
imo
Yeah, 25 reps is surprisingly easy to do as long as you don't go overboard with weight
Since this seems like a no weight routine, just half sets or increase rest time if necessary
yeppers it’s bodyweight
Working out again
YAS
W
So close to 3 sets of 7 pull ups
Never heard of the first and third exercises
what app is that?
Its basically holding yourself up with rings with the rings positioned horizontally of your waist so they're turned outwards
and the 3rd one is like making a T-shape by bending forward your front body from the hip and extending your back leg
Its not the full routine but its the r/bodyweightfitness recommended routine
@glass birch Progressive Workouts
I don't like dips tho
Rdl is third i think
Just looked them up and they're not for me, glad they're able to get you going though
Construction work is physically demanding to be considered exercise in its own way, at least you're not sitting in a chair in an office all day and getting tired from that
Lost fat body % in a month
from 22,30 to 19,47
i should work out more with the korra training
LOL PRAYING FOR U
Was getting ready to cook some chicken teriyaki but now my my mom is taking me to a restaurant, one where I know where I will be drinking
Hopefully I can still workout later tonight
Nevermind, the snow might stop me
Yeah, skipping tonight
There's no snow here but I think I'm skipping tonight too
Started snowing today and they didn't salt the roads yet
you don't need that amount of cardio at the begin
yes I do
damnnn
No
You guys-
It’s my routine 💀
I gotta be able to swim across San Diego bay, run 3 miles, and then drag a boat up a beach, 30 mins be working me to that goal yk
It’s also my friends rout for firefighting so we ball
that seems like a valid amount for someone working under conditions such as jay ngl , but you should defenitely lower the amount youre doing under the conditions that
- youre inconsistent
- you fully struggle/ are incapable of doing actual life things
- you get injured
- you just cant workout bc youre always too exhausted
otherwise , jayden 2 approves 👍👍👍
1-4 don’t apply
wym I can’t do life things bruh 💀
I’ve been doing that routine already successfully too
and falling down the stairs giving me an injury doesn’t count
Bro
I wouldn’t be doing any of this if I didn’t know
But I appreciate the concern
Plus my PT and gym bro who studies physical health are guiding me rn
Got the full consult
ofcoursee bro!! and i trust you and your judgement after all youre naturally wiser than me , but some people can see things others cant at times
jus gotta see different povs 🤷♂️
yessurr
Ofc ofc
good shit tho 👊👊 put in that work and youll be fcking cracked bro
I have to be for this job 😵💫
“Praise the Lord, lift weights” such a glorious-intimidating phrase
Bro is training to be Captian America
By cardio…you mean like soccer mom walk or RUNNING?
Run.
It’s
It’s still rough angel
2 hours today and then work after kills
And then 4 hour drive LMAO
FOUR HOUR DRIVE???
I really admire you
Thats dedication
Yeah
We go fast
Another 2 hr gym sesh before work
Dying

Thats wild. I would try but um
havent been to the gym for a while
it's time to be korra again
I havent been to the gym for a week
i am already tired
Yeah
only drive fast on roads you know
New PR on my squat +50LBS
yeehaw
interesting problem though
I am plateaued on weight. Lost 10+ over the course of 2 weeks, now hit a stable +-1 on my Weigh in. Never had it happen before. Friend says cus I am losing the fat, but the muscle mass gain is compensating, which I never thought about.
Dw, you get back in? I have taken month off before, nice thing is, when u get back you will know what to do ya know
got in
prob i am going now
Eat a bacon cheeseburger
I started doing dropsets in my workouts, basically for my 3 sets I do reps until I reach or get really close to failure, then my next rep I reduce the weight, repeat until I do the amount of sets necessary
My workout sessions increased by 10-5 minutes but I feel much better than I was prior to doing them
Could give dropsets a try
Just don't use them for real heavy exercises like squats
no no angel i cant lose weight lmao
its +-1LBS and its so ANNOYING
after this imma push for 3 mi
yessurr
I remember looking up burpees and just rejecting them immediately afterwards
The 6 count burpees aren't too bad
100 burpees with the Navy Seal version would mean 200 extra push ups and mountain climbers
Which is a hell no from me lol
hihi where do u find the workout program ?
Think there's some stuff that's pinned

Personally not a fan of those routines due to the amount of reps of each exercise
Finally went back to the gym today
Thank you gymbro
Arms are still sore btw😭
I think im gonna train this year for a half marathon then a full marathon!
goodluck man 👏👏 u gotta be strong
honestly hahah
i started doing runs tho
but marathons are beyind me
very very far beyond me
Haha a few years ago I used to do like 10k races etc within my city and Im hoping I can reactive that running ability lol
shitt bro gl
thank you thank you!
Ofcc
Whoever invented Navy Seal burpees
I don't like you
35 of those damn things then ended up doing 5 more push ups
how the hell do people do 100 of these

beyond me
Some are just that naturally gifted physically, while others are willing to go the extra mile
I said this already but my uncle is around 50 at least and he goes to the gym in the middle of the night
For some, exercise is just a hobby to them
yea true
I can't scroll all the way up can someone tell me the exercise?
#1169903023758245949 message
thanks
I'm feeling a lot more flexible from regular morning stretches
can consistently grasp my hands behind my back with my dominant arm
off hand arm can just touch the fingers but its progress
sweet, I'm starting my workout plan this month so this thread is perfect for me
First time going to the gym after three weeks of family holiday stuff and being sick
Now it's not snowing, I can get back to the gym
thats quite a jump haha
ahahah yes, it will require a bit of time
I am getting used though
Finally did 3 x 8 reps of negative pull-ups (underhand)
Turns out I can hold an L sit on rings for a decent time too
make sure your wrist is straight with your arm not wobbly and leaning otherwise it pulls on the muscles and can make it sore.
if it continues to be a problem you could try either another chest exercise or wrist straps
I could make 3 sets of 8 reps each 30 kg
I do dumbell press too
it's easier
yee and less of a hassel to change weights haha
You also don't risk a barbell falling on you if your arms are pushed too much, dumbbells are the safest option
im a day late but easily tbh , use wrist straps abit more leg drive and by the end of the month your pushing 65 💪💪
Korra training sheet is getting easier to make
will*
fair enough
Another good gym day
whats this?
Gym done
I can't do leg presses, those machines scare me
oooo love this channel
i’ve been trying to get my legs bigger before i get bigger tats on them 😭

☺️
Worked out my upper body last night and it felt great
Had to skip leg day tonight though due to semi-bad roads and I ate too much at a steakhouse
always excuses when its leg day 😭
@light ember you do mma? I try to go to my local muay thai gym like three times a week
nah you didn't
i have zero idea how i'll get out of both my reading AND gym slump
Still at gym
going strong, keep up jerrick!!!!
Whoever invented pull ups I don't like you
OKAY so I’m finally taking the plunge and going to the gym for the first time soon
How did you guys get started? Any tips I would thoroughly appreciate
ayyy best of luck and hope you feel good!
well... before just going, i set myself a goal on what i wanted to do for that day, and what is the endgoal in the near future. I guess you have that one already, right?
Gym done
did 3 sets of 8 ring overhand pull ups and another set of underhand pull ups to finish the session
I set a goal for myself and do some research (Not too much, just enough on how to get started) and put what knowledge I learned to the test on my first day.
As someone buildinb muscle mass I looked up the best workout routines for muscle building and did the full body regiment M/W/F as it's the best basic exercise for bodybuilding.
As I continued I would do more research on how to keep going and even began adapting my diet to my workouts.
I kinda have a bit of a head start cause I have a decent cardio base
from walking too many miles working at a hospital
and taking 4-5 yoga classes a day when I snuck to Ohio for "vacation"
I just follow some bodyweight routine on a consistent basis and poof, pull ups happened
oh yeah eating a bunch of protein helped too
Thank you guys!! x
I’ll keep you updated- looking to just gain functional strength atm instead of an aesthetic goal
Noice.
I don’t tho Muay Thai tho
That is you??
No wonder you and I got along
Finally...
I've been wondering if this server had a chat that was right for me
AND I FOUND IT
I have Jay to thank
😭 dayum W
yessurrr
Gym done
Gym done
Eh
Probably want grip strength or work biceps and triceps
pull ups mostly work the back and shoulders
Gym done
Absolutely yes
The pull up activates bicep, shoulder, and lateral back muscles
But if it's forearms you want to strengthen
Farmer's carry
Hammer curls
Wrist curls
Reverse curls by cable or dumbbell

@uncut zephyr nice gym selfie
Someone was gonna notice it lol
And that someone is me, a guy who's rather observant

my plan solos
my plans bigger than it tho
A firefighter workout plan eh?
Sounds like fun
fancy smanchy
They have one bruh lmao
MY LORDY LORD
As clean as it looks, this gym is pretty mid when it comes to the type of equipment it has and how many
This is the type of squat rack my gym has, the one in that picture for some reason worries me
It doesn't need more though
Private gym for 50 residents
Mant of which are families who can't bring their kids in
Ironically my public gym has this and that one is notoriously hated for being loose and shake lmao
Gym done
I'm just more disappointed that there is a huge space in the middle where a good cable machine could go, one of these babies to be exact
It's cause it was under construction lmao
And nah I hate the connected ones lmao
Everything separated is perfect
No dudes shaking the whole thing when I'm trying be stable
Hopefully gonna see more stuff but if not
We always got the public one still
Nice thing is the outdoor space too so you can kinda set up a muscle beach esuqe thing there
💪

Yes

on a new plan +5miles cardio

Does anyone have any tips for motivation
not gonna lie
It has to come within...
I know it's not what
Anyone wants to hear but that's just the honest truth.
Anybody can give you motivational speech, guides, but you can't really kick into high gear until you make your own reason to believe it ya know
Personally had to get a goal.
Any goal
Finding friends super good.
Thats true
You’re absolutely right actually
like genuinley don't know what to say
i wish there was a better answer
cause i asked the same thing
but i literally
I understand
a lot had to happen for me to care
bad health, covid, family death(DW long time ago), like a ton of shit had to collapse inward at the same time for me
for me it took all that, but for others its like
oh look at that hot model, i wanna be that.
or, i wanna get ready for X career
My condolences
THIS
yea
im so scared of getting back where i was before so i think thats gonna be my motivation.
yeah
once you see
your potential
and believe it
i think is when you start to really push
honestly, making sure ur comfortable alone too
literally anywhere
Maybe unique to me but I cannot be alone, I have to go everywhere with everyone
wouldn't go to the gym without others
didnt help
so, eventually the city helped. walked around more and more, did more alone, eating out alone, gym alone.
and having your own independence can really reinforce that internal motivation
I’m the opposite I can’t do anything with unfimiliar people around me
Thank you really
thats why you gotta push urself slowly...
even for stuff irrelevant, like eating out
getting gas in your car...
i mean literally
the smallest actions
i started with dog wallking, used to only do that with my mom, then getting mail, then driving around hours away, eating alone, then driving across the country, moving in, surviving, and yeah
now I can just
do whatever alone
we have to learn to be okay being alone
and know when its not okay to be alone...
thats soemthing nobody teaches us...
Yeah :(
exactly unfortunately
Idk but i grew up doing everything by myself so im happy that im completely independent im actually glad with that
downtown one yeah
damn
Doin my entire upper body
Chest arms and abs should be good
Working my forearms like a beast rn
Don't forget the back muscles
Need an azula one if there isn’t already
I ran out of time for that
wow did not know about this channel!
@dusk lantern so waht do u do when u stall
I avoid the major lifts and improvise with other exercises and lifts
oh, and then after somet ime u go back to it?
Yup
cool
nice channel, glad i found this
what kinda training programs are people doing here 👀
Just bodyweight stuff
I have completed home gymski
Rn I'm at the park, it is SUCH a warm day today in February
I'm jogging and doing calisthenics
I can only do neutral grip pullups cuz my wrist still fucking hurts
Nice nice
same I just saw this challange thing, so whats the details for this fitness challange ?
100 push ups
Mobility Drills | Bboy / Breakdance Conditioning & Strength Exercises
Bboy / Breakdance Tutorial.
Christmas Special.
🎅🏼🎄🎁
Seven tutorials for the next Seven days.
Releasing some of the ones I've been sitting on, recorded earlier this year!
Here's the sixth!
Christmas Special: Day 6 🎁
Mobility:
The ability to move a joint freely throughout ...
“Korra themed” Meh. How about Aang or Zuko themed^
Breakdancing is definitely more suited for Zuko
both bagua and Northern Xiaolin have breakdancing-like moves 🤷
They do
It's more prominent with Northern Shaolin with all the high end calisthenic moves involved in breakdancing
And Aang, as we’ve seen, has much more canon enthusiasm for dancing itself heh heh
Could develop good footwork if you're moving around like a clock
I don't dance but I could see that
Aang and Zuko inventing modern dance styles 150 years early
Hell even yoga has some breakdancing moves you see in freezes
breakdancing might’ve borrowed some stuff from yoga. IDK.
oops
Honestly if anyone here really wanted to train and move like a bender. I highly recommend Wushu. its chinese martial arts the animation uses, and u get to do cool tricks and flips like zuko
hard as fuck tho and will test your joints and felxibility 😭
“the animation uses”
Hm? I had always heard it was based on Tai Chi (waterbending) Bagua (airbending) Northern Shaolin (fire bending) and Hung Gar (earth bending)
and Mantis style (Toph’s special honed skills)
those styles are all wushu
and earth bending is more nanquan (southern fist)
fire bending is changquan (longfist, or northern fist/shaolin)
water bending is tai chi
and air bending is bagua
but those are all wushu, or more specifically, the ones depicted in the animation are all contemporary wushu
How do this shoes not burn
I don't think he actually touches the fire
Cuz if he did of course, it would burn
Gym done
Yayy
PPL+ Martial art of choice
how mnay days ppl per week? 2x or 1x?
well i only have 2 days of rest in a week
so 1x then im guessing? since u have martial arts as well
MTW rest TFS Rest on sunday
gimme a sec
nice, calisthenics? from bodyweight reddit?
Yes
yeah so ur doing ppl 1x/week then. 2x/week is 6 days a week
I recover fast idk
where do u hang ur rings, at home?
ohhh
on the days I don't workout i stretch and do jump rope
I go to a rock climbing gym and I hang the rings on top of a pull up bar
because I don't own rings
That's smart
ic, so lifting weights 3x/week? and then all the other stuff the rest of the days
I sometimes have to ask my friends if i want to do ring pull ups
I already bought an annual membership so after this year, I'll get my own pair of rings and find some sturdy thing to do ring pull ups
active rest days
oh ok, i was gonna say, ur routine looked like a home workout aside from a few exercises
it does
you can do all that without going to a gym
like rows you can use something like a broomstick
sometimes I don't do well on some muscle groups like my core or i feel tight in my hips
or something at a playground
the days i rest I work on that
Push
- barbell bench press 5x5
- incline dumbbell benchpress3x12
- shoulder press (seated)
- Side Lateral Raise 3x10
- close-Grip Barbell Bench Press 3x8
- Triceps Dumbbell Kickback 3x12
Pull
- deadlift 5x5
- Bent Over Barbell Row 3x8
- Underhand Cable Pulldowns 3x10
- One-Arm Dumbbell Row 3x12
- dumbbell shrug 3x 12
- Dumbbell Bicep Curl 3x10
- Alternate Hammer Curl 3x10
Legs
- squat 5x5
- Barbell Lunge 3x12
- Romanian Deadlift 3x8
- Seated Calf Raise 3x12-15
I try keeping it simple cause a lot of calisthenic movements get me sore and make me lose fat too fast.
If i ever want to switch up a routine I just go to bodybuilder forums and adopt one
wow that is almost identical to my workout
Simple as fakkk
hahah i guess, its still quitea few exercises
and honstly is enough, anything more complex is unnecessary
Sometimes I quit the gym for months to practice toning my muscles
I got like some dumbbell and a Ez bar
I go for high reps and try cutting calories
March is usually Cut for summer
unless ur really overweight, then u can cut more drastically
My problem is that most of my fat resides in my lower stomach
so it's like im halfway jacked?
So like in normal terms I may be 17-19% bf and i need to reach 13-15% in order to see my true definition again.
15% year round is so hard and ' 💉 ' is getting tempting.
yeah the pouch or tire is hard to get rid of
that lower portion is stubborn, but for a lot of ppl it is always the last to go, so its not unqiue to u
and obviously dont do steroids, its bad
Trust me. If i do the needle
I have lost as a bodybuilder
that's cheating!
I still want to know my genetic limit
lmao i just did a bunch of jump squats girl i am out of breath
Good job 👍
awe ty
Gym done
Didn't know he liked sweat
Started going to gym again! Completly forgot how much your muscles ache 😭
feels gooood
nuh uh, lifting arms hurts lmaoo
lmaoo true true
plus itll go away soon the more u do it
Yee thats what im waiting for haha
What'd you do there
uh yesterday, started with
18min run at 5.37km/min pace then cooldown, then triceps chest and shoulders then another sprint run for 4mins at 3.30km/min pace and cooldown plus i just walked about 7/8miles throught out the day lol
I don’t have a good before picture of my back but july of 23 i got back into the rhythm after figuring out how i can do push ups, currently working on testing the range of my shoulders.
I have core strength i still need to work on
Past arm growth pics. I still can't tell but others can
insane pics from both of you

should flex and show us ur gains next time 🙂
I agree
I will try my best to remember!

Basketball injury
Got a broken nose
same thing happened to my friend 2 weeks ago , broken nose and black eye
and he burst blood vessels in hs eye
😭( he is okay now)
@proper girder oh no poor guy
I have to visit the ENT tomorrow
I have two fractures in there
howd it happen 😭
I was playing basketball sectionals today and a big kid from the opposing team elbowed me in the nose
Was so uncomfortably numb until blood came GUSHIN
bro you good now??
Yeah the massive bleeding had stopped
But the left side of my nose is the only part that leaks blood
I can't lift weights
I can't go to the gym
I can't move heavy furniture
And I can't drink tea
Or else blood will flow again
That does not sound pretty good tho
It doesn't??
Oh my gosh!...
I didn't know that
Yeah right, get well soon!
drink tea?? irohs disappointed
Tell him I said to chat with the doctor about it
he said try jasmine tea , its better
Smh
Gym done! (Tried using the semi home gym lmao)
share ur workout program! 😄
I have a gym regime somewhere, just started to remember by heart
Plan on going to the gym tonight for the first time in a month and a half, may redesign my workout regiment for the occasion
Used to do drop sets, 3 sets per failure for each exercise
May just drop that altogether and do 3-5x15 regiment to get back in the groove
Gym done
Proud of you buddy
👍
Ngl, these weren't so bad actually
AYYY
Day 7 of going to the gym today 💪 trying to go everyday except weekends, i wanna tone but i dont wanna build muscles
We'll see if I can go today, have 30 minutes before I would normally go and now I am getting hungry
I should increase calorie intake or spread out my meals more
Alternatively, I should have had a snack like oatmeal 30 minutes ago
Cracked a mental whip against my psyche so I'm heading off to the gym now, time to get back to it
Workout was great, felt like my body was saying, "Finally!" the whole time
any intermediate weight training peeps here? wanna know ur insights on when to stop using a beginner program and just move onto another one. whens a good time to switch?
After an average 4-9 weeks is the best time to switch things up
This will be long enough to recognize the signs of the workout being too easy, heart rate is low, and everything staying the same
ive been at the same beginner program for over 6 months now 💀
Then yeah, that's probably the time to switch to an intermediate one then
how do u guys recommend i pick?
Especially if you feel - both physically and mentally - that the beginner regiment isn't working anymore
I started w the reddit ppl that does a bit fo strength and hypertrophy training, basically general all around
it is still working, my progress is slowing tho for sure
but i am also doing doubel progression (where i dont up weight until i reach certain reps) so my progress has been slow, but intentional right from the get go
with so many programs to pick from, how do u guys recommend I pick my next program?
You got a clear goal to working out? Growth? Recomp (Basically to get toned)? Lost fat? Etc? This would help as I am currently looking through my YT subscriptions for videos to help you
I'm about to cook dinner but I can help out once I'm done
at this pt id like to focus more on hypertrophy rather than strength
well actually i guess fat loss is #1, so i guess u could say recomp is my main priority right now
but w regards to strength vs hypertrophy training, id like to focus on hypertrophy more for this cycle. Doing heavy barbell compounds are getting kinda taxing
you dont necessarily have to help me find a specific program. I dont mind doing that on my own. I just want to learn about your guys' thought process in choosing the next program, since theres millions of programs to choose from these days. Even if you had a specific goal of growing/recomp whatever, theres still tons to pick from. how do u guys sift thru all the available programs and pick the one you wanna do?
@real iron My thought process when designing workout regiments is that I read up on any exercise routines that satisfy in what I'm looking for then pick exercises I can see myself push through without finding it tedious and annoying, I want it to go, "Awesome, bench presses next let's do this!" I also take an existing program/regiment someone has made and make it into a template so I can change and switch out any exercises for alternative that I see myself doing.
I can't remember what I based it off but my regiment is an "Upper-Lower Body" routine where, as the name suggests, I do the upper body (Waist up) one day then I do the lower body (Waist down) on another day. I do Uppers Monday and Thursday, Lowers Tuesday and Friday, with Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday as rest days. So far it has worked out for me well.
There is a lot more to this than what I put down (Frankly, I feel like what I said is complete nonesense unless I type up at least a full page essay) but that is my mindset when I design and/or redesign a workout regiment.
i see. yes ive been doing ppl and frankly id like to tone down the daysa little. a 4 day split might be what im looking for. but i dont thinki have quite the knowledge to fully build a routine myself
also, my main lifts still arent that great, but i assume thats fine right if i wanna switch over to a 4 day split focusing more on hypertrophy?
Building up your own routine is a skill you get with experience, I still can't do it without having at least 3-4 tabs on a browser open so I know how
IDK what you mean by "my main lifts aren't that great" but if they aren't pushing you closer to your goal or you just feel like crap doing then then switching over to something new should be the one and only option IMO. If the workout isn't making you feel good physically or mentally then the exercises aren't for you or there is something wrong with the regiment itself.
i mean the compound barbell lifts squat bench deadlift
But yeah, if you feel like you need to do something new then I suggest jumping into it
any advice on how to pick? Id prefer to pick a program someone already made, but how do i know if its a good program
theres literally so many to choose from
Honestly, that's a tricky question. Though someone can give you a regiment that is supposedly good in general they will also still admit that not every exercise will fit another person's body, since how good one exercise is to someone depends on their own physical limits and all that.
What I linked is actually my own Upper-Lower and PPL regiments when I was redesigning my routine. If you want you can try it and use them as templates for you to help.
I thinkn i know enough to be able to select which exercises to switch out if i need to, im aware of the different variations of a lot of the exercises, but i dont have to knowledge to create a template itself
I didn't include sets or reps cause this was just a list of exercises I planned on trying at the time
Some of them yes, Jeff Nippard is one of them
Jeremy Ethier is another one I am a fan of
yeah i watch those 2 a lot, do u think their programs r worth trying out>
I never gave them a try, I just watch their videos then apply their knowledge to my routines
how is it toning down if youre going from 3day to 4day
?
or are you doing pplx2
yknow the endorphins after the gym are so good i can see why people get addicted to working out
Great feeling, isn't it?
surprisingly yes
Omg I’m actually interested in doing this
Like this will be perfect for horseback riding and everything
Ppl is 6days
yessurrr
no its push pull legs? unless youre doing it twice a week
Ppl is meant to be done 2x a week
nopee! any works
Ok it's standard weightlifting knowledge that ppl is meant to be 6 days a week but u do u
well it can be done on any form
3x works fine and its the plan ive found most progress on acc
well 3x+arms
U can do any workout any form any way u want, doesn't mean the workout isn't designed a certain way Ppl was designed to be a 6 day split. Just like full body is designed for 3 days a week
He's right, PPL is usually done 6 days per week
It is a pretty hardcore routine when it comes to schedule
yeah its too hardcore, im always feeling beat up. so might wanna switch soon, thats why i asked yesterday for new program recommendations
A variant I have seen of the PPL split is 3x a week; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Less days to workout and a day to rest between each, you could try that.
if it comes to it i can do that. but ppl 3x isnt ideal, so i rather just change to a different program altogether
and i wanna do more than 3x, so looking for 4x/5x. my PPL is especially taxing mainly because im doing squat, bench, deadlift, overhead as well, and im doing low rep heavy sets . so i think if i toned those down a little it'd be better
I love this channel
I do karate and avatar is so good for bettering your fitness particularly martial arts
welcome! niceee, how long have u been doing karate?
Since last July, I'm 9th Kyu but I'm grading for 8th on 24th march
good luck!
Thank you!
The dream is to be a buff girly like korra that's my goal
I think avatar is the best martial arts show, it's such a key part of what makes bending so good
Which martial art did you do?
ooo, then u should also weight train!
yes! that was the first reason that got me in. I did contemporary wushu, which is chinse martial arts. Its basically all the stuff you see in avatar. It was the first time that I saw wushu being portrayed accurately so I was intrigued
like i was literally doing all those stances and moves that u see in avatar, and i was hyped because they got it so accruate i could name the stances and moves
I'd love to do Bagua
I LOVE DOING THE STANCES WHILST WATCHING IT
baguas one of the more obscure styles, so it shcoked me when i saw it in airbending!
I don't know it but I'd love to do it
It's really hard to find somewhere that goes Bagua here
its rarely taught much anymore. its just fallen out of favor, even among competitive wushu, its not as popoular because its less flashy
I love the flexibility I do self defence too but I love self defence that's less violent
It's why I'm 100% an airbender
if u want bagua. ur best bet is finding a school that does "wushu" Wushu encompasses all the styles. Theres rarely a teacher or school that focuses exlcusively on bagua anymore
among the wushu community its kinda memed as a "old man" style, similar to tai chi
🤣
That's really good advice, thanks!
yeah. the keywords to look for is "wushu" "contemporary wushu" "longfist" "shaolin"
and of course the generic "chinese martial arts" but that could literally be anything so
even "traditional" might not be accurate considering that the stuff u see in avatr is more contemporary, so if u wanna look like them traditional schools is not what u wanna look for
There's a sifu who also trains at my dojo and he's the most waterbender person I've ever met
Like he told me to push against me with my full strength and he couldn't push back, then he meditated and focused on his breathing and was suddenly able to push me back it was amazing
oooo nice! waterbending is tai chi, so yeah perhaps hes a tai chi sifu
He is! He calls it kung fu but it's tai chi
He said I had an excellent horse stance which was nice of him
yeah kung fu is actually a generic term thats somewhat of a misnomer. it was misinterpreted in the west/english in the 1800s as chinse martial arts, but kung fu doesnt really mean that
Tai chi is actually a form of Kung fu
the correct term is "wushu" for martial arts. but since "kung fu" kinda stuck in the western world, even most sifus use that word now
Kung fu is like karate word wise
Doesn't it translate roughly to bitter work
omg horse stance is like so emphasized in chiense martial arts. thats where i wept in sympathhy when i saw zuko trianing aang and telling him to practice it 😭
Hence why tophs training episode is called bitter work
yep! exactly. it literally means work and effort. so the term "kung fu" can be used for many disciplines in chinese, not just martial arts
Something like that
Have you practiced hot squats, they're a surprisingly good workout!
And wushu is basically martial art
my quads have been truamatized by it
Aren't hot squats just squats
Karate is empty handed and the formal phrase karate-do is empty handed way
yes
yepp, the way of the empty fist!
Aang puts his hands on his head and his stance is wider I think
I remember when I was doing karate Sensei had us stand for as long as we could in horse stance
*hand
YEP
i hated horse stance practice so much
was doing lots of horse stance kicks last night
Oh and stopping us in the middle of the katas when we are holding low forms and he just kept talking unaware of our pain-
Those are great for strength and balance
YES
What do you mean you want to loosen your kokutsu dachi while I talk for 3 hours?
Lmao for real
What style do you do?
Shotokan
So long and deep stances 😮💨
Nice! I did Wado. But Shotokan has so much nicer katas
omg i had deep stances
Goju is even worse haha I love low stances though
Some of our katas are really beautiful ngl
Yeah!
YEP NO THANKS
What are the wado katas?
I tried Taekwondo for a while and I was super surprised how high their stances were lol
I tried taekwondo and yeah it's crazy how you're just sort of standing, like we do in Kobudo
Most are adaptations of Shotokan katas since Wado comes from Shotokan but there are slight differences, but most of the basics katas are the same. There are some higher ones Idk the name that are unique. But we have pinan shodan nidan sanda And all those that are similar to yours. And our kushankus are quite similar too but yours is cooler
Ah yeah pinan in our style is Heian
Wado came from Shotokan and Ju jitsu so it's a lot like a water-bending style of earth bending haha very flowy
We go up to Heian godan
Yeah same
Interesting!
Pinan godan but yeah
I love martial arts
It's why avatar is my favourite show
yeah same
Avatar helped me deciding to train martial arts
I've always preferred more traditional ones for it too
"im doing waht zuko is doing right now! :O"
Aaah I'd love to learn wushuuu
do it!
I love how traditional Shotokan is, all the etiquette etc love it
Or any form of Kung Fu really
its fun!
Nothing in my are sadly : (
if u wanna do what u see in avatar, stick with contemporary wushu. the more traditional stuff might not look the same
contemporary is more focused on performative, artistic aspect, less practical/applicable.
so thats why it looks so cool
Like XMA?
its more about forms, similar to karate and kata competitions
i dont know what xma is
o extreme martial arts?
im not quite sure since ive never seen xma myself, but from the description yes its a it similar. basically the entire sport is based on competition of forms, ratehr than combat
so basically like katas in the olympics
not fighting but just based on your technique and form
I adore the etiquette and culture around martial arts, I'd honestly say it's a bigger part of my cultural identity than where I was born
dallas liu def has wushu training i can see it. his style of wushu is longfist/shaolin, which is the most popular style of wushu. its popular bc its flashy and very cool looking, which is why u see it used in hollywood movies a lot. for example, jet li movies r all wushu
I'm never more comfortable than when I'm in a dojo
How old were you starting, Miyuki?
24
It's a recent thing
Oh nice!
Just feel like I've found my place and my people
Yeah, martial arts really gives you a community
For me it's in the community
ahh ok
It's been open for a long time
Yeah, same
I go 3 times a week to karate, twice a week after karate to Kobudo and once a week to self defence
Oh that's really cool!
Kobudo looks awesome
It's very difficult!
6 days a week 😮
But it feels awesome when you can do it
4 days, the Kobudo is after karate
oh ok
Kobudo is so hard to get but then when you get it you can do some incredible stuff
I'd like to try french fencing some day. Very different but it looks fun and the technique required really calls me
I've not been using nunchanaku for long and already I can do some catches and things that look relatively impressive
I've always wanted to try fencing
And works out your arms no?
It's a DEFINITE arm workout lol
Nunchaku and the bo staff are heavy and you have to swing them very fast
I remember when I started doing a traditional stick fighting art we have here my arms would get so fucking sore after the first few lessons because of the other sticks hitting mine lol
staff is my favorite weapon
I'd be so afraid of using nunchakussss
I'd really expect them to hit my face
My back is probably very bruised from hitting myself with nunchaku
yeah nunchucks seem so hard to get good at lol
i need traing wheel nunchucks, the ones w the foam
Haha great good to know my fear is valid lol
The foam ones are quite tricky because they're so light and they still hurt!
Also they're foam so they fall apart if you use them vigorously
That remind me of pos
I'm constantly repairing the foam ones when I swing it too hard and the end falls off lol
I do love the bo, it's very fun to use
Channeling my airbender self using a staff
Lmao I'm not sure which I'd like the least
I need to buy my own wood nunchaku soon but I'm worried about seriously hurting myself
Why not try foam protection? Like headgear?
altho my all time fav is the dao, or broadsword, its the one zuko uses in blue spirit
hacking and slashing is jut so fun
That sounds fun!
Damn now I want to go to the gym and do weights but I need to eat then shower ready for self defence
So glad this channel exists, love the idea of training like korra!!
yes! if u wanna look like korra, def pick up weight training
it'll help w ur karate as well!
and just overall be more fit
It’s so funny to me that some people are like ‘learning martial arts can’t be pacifist’ when some of the styles have the philosophy directly built into it both in word and action
Like do they think being a pacifist means you just let people beat you up or smth
Maybe that’s why they picked it, to be a 100 year old style that’s been lost in that world.
……. Is that why they named that episode that?
You have to be careful with weight training for martial arts though. For martial arts it's better to generally use lighter weights than the max you can handle so you can go for speed and power!
Yep!
Good point! I want to be quick first and foremost
yeah u wanna train for explosiveness. not necessarily pure strength or mass
Wish I had the time and energy to do 6 days
some is better than none, as long as its consistent thts all that matters
stopping gym for awhile
i wanna stop gaining asmuch muscle mass
but im doing more and longer runs and callisthenics 6x a week
so ill hopefully see more progress
alongside fasting
same i walk before fetoor for an hour feels so great
Sometimes two! But it is amazing
man i love running so much
Especially when its at sunrise
oh my gif best feeling istg
