No, it's a brand new savegame. We set up the server a few hours ago. And we have this "problem" since we started playing on it.
What are the specs of the server?
Sorry, I was distracted. It has an i5-6400. It's a TrueNAS Core Machine and Satisfactory runs on an Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with SteamCMD
And what about ram?
been running a dedicated server for about a week now, so far, great experience! some graphical glitches and sudden teleports here and there, but! it works great on consumer level hardware!

We are playing as 2 players and we are in the same network. We both are connected via cable (and the NAS as well). The Network Quality is set to Ultra in our clients and on Ultra (3) on the server.

for example if beacon is missmatched, you will get connection, but it will be laggy...
Hey so I've been playing with some friends on a dedicated server but they have backed off a bit ftm and I'm considering a new start with mods just for me. My question is will me having a modded game mess things up when I want to to join the dedicated server to play with them?
not sure about mod support on the server, but i suspect everyone would need to have the same mods, if they were to play on a modded server...
The goal is for the server to remain unmodded while my private save is.

it enables profiles, so that you can choose to start the game unmodded

I didn't change anything about the Ports. So they are all on default. But now I set in my router that the Satisfactory VM can open ports by itself. And now it works

The way found it to work is input then close the window then open again , been persistent like that works but still need the materials to actually come through so that is the finally test lol
Hi, sometimes the game crashes when I join to the server, I play with three friends and everyone has this problem sometimes
I'm kinda pulling my hair here - I got a dedicated server setup on a local desktop and i'm trying to connect to it through local network (so no firewalls involved, and disabled the windows firewall on the server pc)
i can see the server, but if I click join, I get "you are not connected to this erver". I can then either do nothing, or press "connect" - either way, a moment later, I get that network error popup.
I didn't change anything on the config. I installed steamcmd.exe, and then followed these instructions: https://satisfactory.fandom.com/wiki/Dedicated_servers#Installation
I'm trying to join using the correct local IP (192.168.2.110) and I tried starting the server with no multihome option, and with multihome=192.168.2.110 with no difference either way.
Can someone tell me how to join my local server?

hey, i have the same error popup than the guy above, except instead of showing me the normal menus it just says "could not connect to the server" after loading for a while. The server used to work back in early access and i barely changed anything (apart from updating the server's firewall). also, I'm connecting to the server through my local network and not over the internet. any kind of help is greatly appreciated

the 3900x made a huge difference, was a 3700x previously
and I did have 64gb but was getting lag, wasnt enough becasue sometimes it spiked over that

Hello. I'm trying to implement a linux dedicated server behind a firewall, on one machine with 2 instances of Satisfactory server. I have different QueryPort and GamePort for each instance. About the Beacon ports, the used ports will be 15000 and 15001. Right?
You can manually set it, look at the wiki in the topic for flags to change all 3 ports

I'm hosting a dedicated server on my LAN on a separate computer. I can access the server from the LAN and others have accessed it from outside the LAN over the internet. It appears to be working, however I have a several warnings and errors when starting up.

means you cant modify it in your router
so you cant set port 16000 on the outside of your router to point to 15000 internally

connect to it and if you can connect its the same version as your client, if you cant connect it will display version mismatch with the server version

hmmm ok, and what user is that service running it as?
the only thing I can think of is the server is running as a user that somehow has no write permissions to create the folder+ the ini files when you quit

hmm well you could rule out permissions if as root you recursively chown the server install directory to be owned by the user ubuntu

its not that hard if u dont have some security setup u dont understand
its when people run bunch of things they dont know and skip over during setup

straight windows or linux isnt that hard
u can get server from launcher
and just do the cmd line and such as per wiki page
forward the ports and tell defender/firewall to behave
there is script for setting windows firewall
and i think something for ufw or whatever
so all you literally have to do is just install it? not taking away from your other tips

I've been getting "connect to host lost" when trying to connect to my dedicated server. It's running on a windows 10 vm (has 2 cpu cores and 10gb ram), fire wall is off, port forwarding done, can connect via administrator mode and upload/load saves but when i go to join the actual game it fails. Any idea where to start looking at trouble-shooting this?

typically thats a windows firewall issue
but if the firewall is off it could be one of the ports 7777 possibly is not actually open
problem solved. I had mods installed. Disabled mods and was able to connect.

that is normal warnings.. they arent errors the server should be working
Ah... you are right... this is the normal warning when starting an unclaimed server. All data from the earlier sessions are lost somehow... sad, but "normal" when using experimental versions...
big hint is it says Warning (notice) ... not ERROR
i'm so damn annoyed rn, trucks are damn shitty on dedicated servers... trains are working fine, no laggs,... not even when you stand on their roof and cruise around... but trucks... their location isn't properly displayed on the map, it's damn lagging, teleporting itself every few seconds... it's soooo annoyinnnng, hope they fix this soon... :( don't think they do because vehicles causing issues since they're here (in multiplayer sessions)

From what I talked to Ben from time to time, they're always tinkering with something... fixing here, making a bug there. I do wonder though if there is a difference in issues between a Windows DS and a Linux DS... have to see what happens when the new exp comes out.
dunno, but I did find a weird one last night on the client end of things by accident. 2 of the DLLs that are being referenced from the game are using the wrong case so they failed to load in linux when I was trying to load it up via proton
I ended up creating sym links to the files using the correct case and the game loaded
oh that is comical, but classic admin cure there
so if small mistakes like that make it to the linux DS yes I could see there being different issues

honestly trucks, tractors and explorers work fine on my DS...I am scared to try trains because of issues people had before. From what I understand they are fine now

if you are unable to connect to the server or its been pre-setup you will need to talk to your hosting provider about that

and the permissions in /etc and possibly /bin got munged
yeah, thats time to restore from backups
sadly the best solution here is to reinstall the OS or restore from backup

as restoring those permissions correctly by hand is going to be some combination of impossible and extremely tedious
yeah something horrible happened to that server it looks like
somehow something did the effective equivelant of "just delete C:\Windows\System32" on your system
possibly a mistyped command as root or a badly-aimed script
(this is why we try not to be root unless we really need to )
hopefully you have backups that will restore it to a time before all the permissions got screwed

Hello all, my client updated today and I am trying to update my linux headless server as well with no luck. I even backed up saves and removed the whole satisfactory server and did a reinstall with no luck. When I go to start the server it just fails and goes back to a command line. The only red flag I can find in the scroll is ""Failed to initialize server. Could not bind any addresses to port '15777'"" but I can't find any fix online for this. Any ideas?
@sharp depot The most common cause for that is that the existing server had not been properly or fully shut down.

depending on the OS the server saves are stored in either ~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server or %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames\server
so you just need to pull the save file and drop it back into your local save dir %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames
provide the whole command you are attempting to run, not just the failure output

hello, since the upgrade what's change to traffic on port 7777 ? I used to count the paquet on this port to know is my server is used, otherwise I shutdown it. Now the counter is always at 0

no its for if you have multiple ethernet adaptors and you would like the server to only listen on one of them

is your server on windows or linux?
you will likely need to contact their support if you dont have direct command line access
not knowing how you installed it
would be hard to direct you on what needs to be done to update
there is quite a bit more to it but it sounds like its a managed provider and they likely installed it for you
