It would have been nice for hardware requirements to have been documented, but UE game servers are all pretty light
a Multicore CPU + 6GB ram or more and 40Gb space and you're good to go

This has happened to me withiut dedicated servers. Had to use a save editor to delete player spawns to fix. Not a dedicated issue specifically

The steamcmd command needs to include the +force_install_dir to point to the installation, or it wont find it to update it

so what the command you paste does is the following:
"steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir SatisfactoryDedicatedServer +app_update 1690800 +quit"
steamcmd launches steamcmd
login anonymous
logs in into steam with anonymous
force_install_dir ./satis/ sets the install dir to satis in your steamcmd folder
app_update 1690800 installs the app or updates it

you do not use steamcmd to start the server

to start the server you go into your windows command line, (CMD) and start the server with FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended

And
force_install_dir ./satis/
or use a bat file, which we should not upload here.. dangerous if you don't check bat files

Not really... that 16 is being overly stressed by OS, the client, other crap running, AND the server that needs at least 6
so my friend is hosting in da cloud, so i dont have the exact specs but both of us are like waiting for 5min+ now in the loading screen with the funny messages
also you're trying to connect on localhost, from what I've seen you might have to forward your ports out and connect through your actual ip

As I literally just said as long as you have 6gb available for initial load you are fine 99% of the time. I loaded a 100mb save file and it took 6gb initial load but reload it was stable at 1.5gb.

ram wise server seem to use ~7Gb of 16Gb atm so that seems to be fine. the processor is amd epyc 4 core at 2.2Ghz and indeed it seem to be going load on 1 core not really utilizing the other

but the transfer rate of DDR2 can reach 533~800 MT/

You are going to tell me there are no efficiency improvements between DDR2 and 4, completely disregarding speed and capacity there is a massive difference.
Definitely its slower. But RAM utilization under UE is really fairly minimal
well we know the server actually uses quite a bit, people here tested satis server and all say 8gb is the sweet spot that works
Anyways I have DDR4-3200 so I'd say that plays a role, in some way or another

That set of machines has ran a top 10 Ark server cluster for years, and ran the #1 Atlas server for most of the life of Atlas. They are VERY capable machines for UE engine based servers! And its running Sati great too. Just hungry for RAM. But when you have 256gig it really doesnt amtter

Assuming that SteamCMD has been installed and is ready to use, you can simply install the server using the following command (Windows: Run this in a CMD prompt):
steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir SatisfactoryDedicatedServer +app_update 1690800 +quit
This command works for both Window and Linux, and installs the server into a directory ~/.steam/steamcmd/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer
i would add below:
steamcmd launches steamcmd
login anonymous logs you into steamcmd with anomynous account
app update 1690800 installs/updates the game

I've just launched my own server and client again and attempted a connection and this worked flawlessly.
So I wonder if version checking is incorrect for dedicated servers, attempting to verify that the game and not server are of the same version.

@rose valley sorry for ping, but something you might want to look into, even tho steamcmd says server is up to date, its not for multiple people, so it actually is not updating. Soloution at the moment, just delete and reinstall basically

on pc (where I also run steam + satisfactory client) it apparently automatically took the experimental beta version, without specifying it via command

i honestly suggest not to do that. You are asking for problems when doing that with an already EXP dedicated server

I think so. Maybe try them and report back? In theory you should be able to run all commands available on the server, bar from the graphics related ones.
The server console accepts no commands, there is also no /help or ?, so can't really figure out what it does accept :p
Client side it accepts nothing in the ~ menu

If you were running the server on your localhost without -unattended then help would open a browser window with all the available commands.

also if you are running it on your own end, its easiest to just join 127.0.0.1 (localhost)
It looks like port 15000 is not reachable but 15777 is. All three ports need to be open (check firewall, router, etc).

Yeah similar issues with port forwarding here. All three ports are forwarded on router (UDP and TCP), firewall allows them through too, and have tried with firewall disabled

that's probably fine though. And if you use netstat, can you confirm that the ports are bound? Search the history of this channel for how to use netstat.

Currently I use Taskmanager and Resource manager to have a rough over view for:
CPU and RAM unsage, also Network traffic

well in your router you usually have different options for ports: what you want is Port forwarding, not redirect, not dynamic etc

a thing to try is change the ports actually used with override, i mean worth a try. But i honestly have no idea why your ports wont open. It should be quite simple when changing in the router

Running a Unraid server with the docker template from ich777 it seems to be running quite nice only seeing a 1,2% Load on CPU and 4.5GB of ram used.

In your router you need to open ports 15777, 15000, 7777, from anywhere from outside your network directly to your pc. If you have a pc with multiple ehternet sources (more common now a days) try disconnecting one of two)

@worthy fractal i figured it out! I fixed mine by removing the backup saves from the server SaveGames folder. No issues logging on when i removed them.

@rose valley i solved the issue. I think the autosave files somehow can get corrupted by the dedicated server. I deleted them and server fired right up for me and Simba.

the wiki for dedicated servers with steamcmd suggests making a folder using +force_install_dir but the update command doesn't put the update in the same folder and instead puts it in a default directory
@kindred sierra Just delete your autosave_0, autosave_1 and autosave_2 files in the server SaveGames folder. Start the server and it should fire right up!

I've noticed since the update when I use a command line like this ./FactoryServer.sh -ServerQueryPort=62007 -BeaconPort=62008 -GamePort=62009 It is incrementing a port by one so instead of the expected UDP port 62007, 62008, and 62009 I am getting 62007, 62008, 62010. Nothing else is running on this servers besides satisfactory.

concerning the corrupted save file issue - i loaded the save file into a savegame editor and deleted both of our players. then it worked aswell with the newer autosave file.

If you have a reliable polling option I'd probably go with a cronjob, seems easy enough and like the right approach
Though you'd really want to make sure your clients also have the update available before you update the server, so auto updates might be kind of risky

Its because TCP sends an acknowledgement packet back to the client so it triples the time
