in theory if you hit the windows key type run and hit enter you can paste: "%AppData%\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\SaveGames" into the window and it should take you to the correct directory
i found it and i think it is working now
sweet :), for the record, what did you change?
deleted the correct file
have a friend about to try and join to see if he can see the game
so it was getting the time correct on the machine, followed by reseting the cert by deleting the Server settings file.
eyy you got it in one i think xD
yes so now i can connect but my friend gets "the server appears to be offline"
check your port forwarding on your router
do i need to port forward to my ip found in ipconfig on cmd or my outward facing ip?
to the ip found on the computer running the server
ok so on my router settings i have fields labeled "local lan ports" and another labeled "wan ports"
this is what i have set note pad is just covering my ip
if its a 192.168.x.x you don't have to cover it, as it would not be reachable through the internet, that seems like it should be correct
also make sure the firewall rules on the computer have the EdgeTraversalPolicy allowed
they did not do i need to restart pc when i correct that
no
still did not work i have connected my gaming pc to my hotspot to disconnect from local network while i figure this out and i cant connect to server now either
are you sure that your WAN ip on your router is a public IP address and not a private one?
i do not know what this means
are you able to see that WAN IP on your router?
yes the ip associated with my host pc was actually in a drop down menu on router so i didnt have to input it and it is the correct ip for host machine verified in ipconfig
that would be the IP in the LAN, im talking about the WAN side
it would be the IP address that you would be giving your friend, or trying to use to test when on your hot spot
So if I run ip config on host machine that ip is 192.168.x.x but if I got to a website such as whatismyip .com that is a different ip than the 192.168 the 192 is what I have port forwarded and what the server is using
the what is my ip website should be showing you what your WAN ip on your router is, but if your ISP is doing NAT, it may not be the same
if they are not the same, then there will be issues doing it this way
Can you point me in direction of how to tell
somewhere while logged into your router, maybe on astatus page, you will be able to see what it says for your WAN IP
Would it be that ipv4 adress?
could be
is that the same as what the what is my ip website was showing?
or is it an ip that starts with a 100
Starts with 100
so something between: 100.64.0.0 – 100.127.255.255
Yes
So, that is carrier grade NAT, and not public IPs, so someone on the internet would not be able to reach your router then.
Is there a work around that you can point me 2
there are a few work arounds, ask ISP for public IP, a few services out there to forward ports straight to machine(don't remember name of it off the top of my head)
playit.gg and tailscale have been a few things people have tried and used in this chat
Enable this option to allow use of a public IPv4 subnet on the Gigaspire LAN network
This sound like it would work?
It's a setting I found in router
that sounds like it affects the LAN network and not the WAN network
to get an actual public ip, it would probably take a chat with your ISP, and may cost extra
That sucks we got lumos fiber and loved dealing with them but then t mobile bought them and I hated dealing with tmobile when I had cell through them
Heyo, sorry if this has been asked before, I tried reading through some messages searching through the server but didn't see it... Whenever I click "Add Server" and type in the server information, nothing happens. It's a brand new Shockbyte server and it appears to be running fine on the control panel
You can try to use IPv6 if everybody who wants to play has it
Double check that whatever port you enter is actually for satisfactory and not something like FTP or ssh
And if it is the correct port, ask the Shockbyte support for help
This is starting to happen to me a lot in congested areas. 🙁

hi, I tried to restart my server after its been offline for some while, but now i cant seem to get any connection to it ingame in the "server manager" tab, has anything changed the last year or so.
the server is on the same LAN, so port forwarding is not the issue
Maybe the internal IP changed?
Just checking… Can you ping the server?
im remoting in on the server just fine, i have other games running as well, so its online
What was the last patch you played on the server?
then you should have the base port on 7777 UDP+TCP already, might have missed the additional 8888/tcp port. but that only comes into play when you try to connect
i figured it out:
The .exe file got listet as a new name in the windows firewall, so i had to add it manually to the expections
heeeeey, i'm kinda new and trying to launch a game with a friend, perhaps someone could help us, we don't know how to connect to a server, even IP address joining don't work
would my average tick rate dropping be the reason my autopilot trucks / vehicles seem to be rubber banding around rather than being smooth?
more information please
what did you already do/try?
what are you currently trying, where does it fail?
Any suggestions to fix this?
I think there's an issue with EOS. my dedicated server went down suddenly (when I was on it, disconnected). Now it's no longer visible on the network
EOS has nothing to do with dedicated server
a DS is completely standalone. it probably just crashed
try other ports, maybe you find a working one
set up a VPN
didn't crash, it's up. can play on it on the server PC only.
maybe it changed IP?
make sure his windows firewall is off and he should check his router to see if it's internal firewall is blocking
idk why it failed, but I fixed it by re-adding the firewall port rules. Had well over 100 hours played on the server then it suddenly stopped working on the network. Was using a static IP, already had firewall rules and port forwarding set up correctly, but adding new firewall rules fixed it, I guess
it tells me connection time out after we tried server IP
like just giving my friend my IP and let me join
we're on a 1.1.4
the servers local IP or your routers WAN IP?
local
local IPs are, as the name implies, local and can't be reached from outside your (home)network
you need to set up port forwarding on your router and give him it's WAN ip
hm, then the website whatismyip .com is wan or lan?
wan
oh. and my connection comes from a phone, so i need the wan ip of my phone?
TF!!??
what? i'm not really knowledgeable in all this
on your phone you probably can't set up port forwarding anyway, so thats a dead end anyway
any IP you see on your phone is the IP of the phone
you would have to tell it to forward traffic on a specific port to the server. a basic phone can't do that
okay! thanks for intel
What is the IP?
My issue was that I was putting the IP:Port number into the address instead of just the IP, in case anybody else has the same issue eventually 🤦♂️
how do I join the server???
this channel is for technical support
if you are searching for a server to join take a look into #1201555265942724758
I can't get my server to be visible to the internet. Server is up and running. Can join it and configure it using local IP (192.168.x.x). I am trying to test it with a laptop that is tethered to a phone. The laptop definitely has net access. The server appears to have the correct config for the firewall, used the powershell scripts as admin and they look like they went through. I am not sure if I have the Port forwarding correct on the router, but that too appears to be correct. The laptop client (satisfactory) says that the server is offline. I can't ping my external IP from the laptop. Not sure if I have the router setup incorrect, or if the ISP is blocking it.
the phone is pulling an IPv6.
but trying to ping the extneral IP doesn't appear to work.
router usually blocks pings
use a online port checker to see if the port is open
something icmp blocks ping
that is the nmap port tester. Odd thing is that the router appears to be correct.
@pseudo pine is your routers WAN IP the same as shown on an ip checker website?
yes.
hello everyone. iam having 2 issues with my dedicated server (or maybe a issue between client-host?)
-
i have plenty of displays. they are used as lights. randomly some displays are dark and no light is visible. only restarting dedicated server or re-entering game helps. or ofc, if dismount the display and place a new one (but thats not the solution because "in backend" they are still working)
-
second issue maybe also related with 1. -> conveyer lifts assigned color are not shown. i made a video. he tells me, color is already assigned. well i cant see anything. if i switch to another color and just hover over it - magically it activates!
also this issue can be fixed if i logout near these convery lifts and relog. then i see them. BUT in another area like 2 miles away, now there is the issue! something is not loading properly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAZBK4KSP2g
can i somehow change settings of my dedicated server that it loads everything? or iam engine-game locked? then it must be satisfactory related because UE5 should handle hundred of thousands items etc.
thank you for any hint/tips
my save file is nearly 20 MB
Where can you find the admin password for a linux server?
You set one on first connection.
Stop server, delete ServerSettings.<BasePort>.sav, start server, claim server
Hello! Has anyone been able to upload your blueprints to an Unraid Docker dedicated server? I have them in the proper folder but i cant seem to get the permissions right.
got the server up and running but whenever i join it i cant control the character no movement or mouse/looking control unlesss i respawn the character then i can move and look around
to confirm not a issue with game itself i launched into single player and it works normal
make sure the network on the host is not set to public and the forwarding is to the correct IP, otherwise everything so far looks fine
maybe try a "tracert x.x.x.x" to your external ip from the laptop
how do i add mods to my server
i just opened one and its not letting me in because its missing the mods i currently have installed
from the host: looks ok as near as I can tell.
!modding
@hidden forge from the laptop client: looks like it is getting lost somewhere at the IP. Not sure if the next stop after 12 is my router.
there's a modding discord, not all mods are server compatible
there are two 172. IPs in the 172.16/12 IP range, are they yours?
no. I assume that is where the wifi-hotspot is going from the phone. maybe trying to test this over laptop --> ATT hotspot --> Charter/specturm --> my router won't work.
everything else seems to work over the wifi-hotspot though. though discord, web, other online games aren't trying to get to a local server. Suppose I can bring the laptop to panera/barnes&nobel or something
Either way - appreciate the help. If nothing else, I have a server at home now - where the wife and I can play on persistant envirnment that doesn't require either of us to be in the game hosting. The people outside our network are just out for now.
anyone know a work around for multiple servers on a dedicated machine? they both show up on server list but which ever is started first is the one that works?
commandline for each server does have different ports for all ports -unattended -Port= -ServerQueryPort=-BeaconPort= -multihome=
out of date info you have there current ports are -Port=XXXX -ReliablePort=XXXX
anyone got this working with playit.gg?
all the stuff i find online looks like it was before both ports were needed
I have 3 running at the same time on my local server
FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended -port=7777 -ReliablePort=8888
I have not launched it with playit.gg, but from reading other peoples comments, but from what i skimmed from it, looks like you probably need to setup the playit.gg first with both ports, then launch the server with the launch arguments -Port=XXXX -ReliablePort=XXXX to use the same ports as the playit.gg tunnel
I add 11 to both ports for each server
so server 2 looks like
FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended -port=7788 -ReliablePort=8899
the only other change is that you must have multiple DS installs
yes, that means I have satisfactory server installed side-by-side in 3 locations
Each bat file points to a unique server install
sorry... @untold hearth
C:\server\SatisfactoryDedicatedServer\FactoryServer.exe -Port=11280 -ReliablePort=11281 this is the .bat file i have to launch the server and it still will not work from what i read reliable port needed to be port+1
the actual port number isn't important.....what's important is that you have both forwarded to your ip
using -port and -reliableport tells the game to use those ports
also made sure that the first port has both tcp and udp for it
yes shared ip port is 11280
are you able to watch the console, to make sure that it took the port changes? or connect locally with the new port
yes....the line you see are the exact lines I have in each file
okay i will test it now
yes it took the port changes and i was able to connect locally
i think i may not have playit setup correctly
i may have figured it out i seem to be able to connect from phones wifi off the network of host pc will have a friend try to connect when they get on to confirm
@inner scroll that fixed it....... this has defeated me for awhile
is there any info about the -ReliablePort i didnt see it when searching around
it's what the dedicated server uses as a "backend" port? I didn't look too much into it but somewhere around 1.0 (I think) they included the reliable port
yeah...so, not much....basically that we just need to use it
10-4 i will read patchnotes from now on lol
UDP is a faster protocol, because it doesnt do error checking. Adding the TCP helped make rubberbanding and such less impact
nice.....but we got tcp and udp on the regular port. why add another? that's what I'm curious about. What all EXACTLY does the reliable port handle?
i think there was a dev stream that they talked about it a bit
dope....imma search it
Marv's archive site prolly has it catalogued
Marv?
ah
he's archived and cuarated almost all of the devs streams since before public launch
anyone know how to increase server cap from 4?
your a gentleman and a schollar
FWIW.. I DID manage to get it to work. (multihome and tethered via cell phone). In the end, I found HaruHost GSM that made all the network config painless and even did Upnp with my router.. also discovered that I didn't have the server file updated to the current version..
The base port TCP is for server management via https only
Base port UDP is for small game updates
Reliable port is for big game updates
I've been having an issue where my game server hitches and then whips people back to how the world was 10 seconds ago. How do I fix his?
Lag usually comes from either a slow server or a less-than-ideal network connection between the server and the client. The "fix" is usually something along the lines of upgrade the server, router, or internet connection.... or some combination thereof. Maybe some one will have a better idea... but I don't really have any good suggestions beyond that.
There are smarter people than me in here. Don't despair completely based on what I said.
Only despair a little.
@hushed cipher 👆
Thanks for trying. I've done both of the above. It particularly difficult because the server hardware is really good and the networking is affected on both LAN & WAN (and the networking is really good).
LAN and WAN being the same kindof eliminates internet connection suspicion.
Does the lag appear at the same time as an autosave?
Most of the time no. When it starts it keeps happening until I restart the app
Just spitballing here, but Is the server’s save file on an especially slow hard drive?
Or an SD card… or something like that?
Nope, it's an 2x NVMe ZFS stripe
Maybe Try changing the network quality up and down on both client and server.
Reference to an older similar issue:
I gave that a shot and turned it to the lowest setting and no dice.
Is there a different client option for that than the server
Hmm. I don’t have any more ideas for now. Maybe others will.
Thanks anyways, appreciate it
Yes, I think the client can set this under gameplay options… and I’m pretty sure it should match whatever the server has set.
It's pretty frustrating. I was trying to get everyone to play together but now most people play on another persons PC that's running some of the time instead of this server that's going 24/7
😮💨
Hey guys, does somebody know if it is possible now to use ipv6 connecting?
ipv6 has always been an option, if the ISPs support it
Only via some kind of DNS, raw entry on the client is still broken
Otherwise works fine
at the moment i have so much desync everytime i place some BP i get desync after relog everything is fine but after a view minutes ...desync cant place stuff trees dont disapear after cutting and all this stuff
Ill have you join on one of my servers and see if your problem persists
thats my arsenal building
thats my arsenal building after desync
all trees are back and i have to rejoin to fix that
yeah...I know the issue...I just haven't seen it in a long time
Had to deal with it when they dropped elevators...like clockwork every few minutes had to log to fix it
hey question. i just installed a satisfactory server via pterodactyl but i keep getting disconnected from the host. i think it has to do with this error,
[2026.01.14-16.31.21:176][233]LogGame: Error: RegisterPlayerWithSession: Failed- UniqueId.IsValid(): true, IsV2(): true, IsOnline: false
but i dont know how to fix it
did you start a session on your server?
Did you get both allocations/ports assigned to the server? Can be a common mistake
use a VPS and a wireguard tunnel
Is it free?
depends on the power of the VPS
most of the time ye
see the free options like oracle cloud's ampere
or AWS micro
Oh, so I'm cooked then. Cause I bought an entire 2nd PC with 32GBs of RAM just to run my own server and no service will do that for free
they usually only do 5-8gbs
oh nono
youre not cooked, the VPS+wireguard is basically playit.gg's method
you host the server, forward the game networking services to a VPS via wireguard
so it will be ran on your own hardware
and a little extra in the cloud :p
Oh, alright. Do you know any specific wireguards?
Cause when I look up VPS sites it shows soooo many (I'm European btw)
if you need some help, dm me and i can help
Alright, I'll do my hair and come back to my computer
in 10 minutes ill dm you
DMed you. Got into my AMP panel, I'm ready.
@loud pendant
Skip the VPS and just use tailscale
I'm gonna look into it in like 30-40 minutes. I need an eating break after what transpired with me and @meager halo
both of us have been baffled, bamboozled and robbed
Oh, why?
that works too, i forgot about that
i was just looking for ways with him to expose his game to the public, completely forgot about tailscale
yeah you can connect your friend to your tailscale and then your friend can join your game that way
Oracle Cloud thinks my city doesn't exist therefore I couldn't even make an account.
And Google Cloud isn't free in my country even with the lowest settings
Hey Guys I am trying to setup a Gameserver on my homeserver and I am using Pterodactyl insade an Ubuntu Server VM that is runnung in Proxmox and everything seems to work. As I join into the Gameserver after setting up the Satisfactory Egg and my Server. I created an Savegame in Satisfactory in My Server. As I try to join the Server it loads and I hear Gamesounds and after about 3-5secs I dc with this Error: Your connection to the Host has been lost. and it just doesnt Work I tried to fix it for like 5hrs alr and I couldnt figure it out. I made sure to disable the firewall, reinstalled the Server, configured the Engine.ini and just nothing works for me.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
did you get both allocations (ports) connected to the statisfactory server?
Do you mean those?
yep, but you used and out of date egg and/or guide
I used this repo pelican-eggs/eggs/tree/master/game_eggs/steamcmd_servers/satisfactory
Do you know 1 that works?
the one from the pterodactyl community egg repository
default ports to give it are 7777 (primary), and 8888
ok thx trying it out
Thank you for your help it finally works. Appreciate it
how do i update my ingame dds? i cant access the world or download it because i have a server version mismatch error
ive been trying to do research on it for months with zero idea what im supposed to do
probably the same way you installed it
research on what?
it doesnt work that way still. It says its updated but its definetly not
ive been trying to find the command required to run the update for the server and now im facing a access denied problem in CMD
ive never updated a server before, this is my first time so im extra stupid with it all
my suggestion would be to: backup your saves and blueprints, stop the satisfactory service from running, try updating steamcmd, then run the update command for the satisfactory server in steamcmd, if that fails, uninstall and then reinstall
i uploaded a save file to the dds server and i have zero access to it. I have older backups that are about 6 months behind on progress but i dont have anything recent from the server, does this mean ive lost 6 months of progress due to an update?
Normally id be able to go and click manage saves but im still prompted with the same error denying me any chance of backing it up
so what is the dedicated server running off of?
its ported via my router
so another computer of yours?
so why not just browse the files on your computer and directly grab them to back them up?
i haven't found the folder, ive been going through it trying to find the saves folder
that helped me find it thx
if you have blueprints, just go up a directory
okay so now that i have my recent saves, i should reinstall satisfactory?
if you think you got everything backup up successfully, then i would say that is the next thing to try if it is still not updating
i got all my saves backed up so i guess ill try it out and see what happens
thanks for helping a idiot get this far
when i do manual backups, i usually like to drop them up to a google drive with notes on what i just did in the world
i dropped them onto a usb drive
ill have to keep up on that notes idea tho that woulda really helped me out
Hello, I wanted to install a dedicated server running Windows 10 Server 2022. Everything is fine for me and I can connect, but my friend is getting this error. Could you help me?
router port forwarding, 7777 TCP and UDP, 8888 TCP
Okay, so the connection port stays at 7777, or should I tell him to set it to 8888?
they use 7777, the server tells the client the 8888 (reliable port)
no. No more beacon and queery ports
and not 7777 mapped to 8888
7777 TCP open.
7777 UDP open.
8888 TCP open.
and the software will figure out the rest
The system firewall is completely disabled
Can they see the ping to the server?
Ok, so I made a Tailscale account and downloaded it.
Now I have to download it on my server PC and my friend as well and we all connect eachother with tailscale?
Yes, download and install on the server.
Your friends need to download it too and then either you link the client to your tailnet too or they make their own account and you need to share the server with them
I’ve played a lot over Tailscale. It works great, and it even worked during the great un-reliable port fiasco of 1.1.
Alright. In roughly 1-2 hours me and my friend will try it out
ill report here if anything goes wrong
Hello, I still have the problem, my friend still can't connect.
Looks like you're hosting on a box at home and forwarding the ports through your router for the server?
The first thing I would check is to make sure you have a public IP on your router. Look up private network on Wikipedia, then Make sure your WAN IP on your router is not in one of those 4 ranges(3 private, 1 carrier grade).
it's okay
Can you repost your router port forwards with headings
What are the headings for the 2nd picture there?
That one looks odd to me
Without headings my guess is that you have it allowed from any where port 7777 to that IP port 7777 when it needs to be anywhere port anything to that IP port 7777
So I delete the first ports?
is there an edit page for the rules on this screen shot, with Game_Port_1 on it that you can show?
i think these 3 should be blank as the reference the source, as you want that to be any.
Fr
It works, that's good, thank you
anyone tryna play multi ??
Is there anyway to use the console to send braodcast commands in game?
Hey fellas i have a problem, i am using AMP to try to host a Satisfactory server, and i am also using Playit.gg to make a tunnel for it,
I just cant get it to work i dont know what exactly i am not doing but i use TCP+UDP in the tunnel i give it the port 7777 i make a 2nd tunnel for QUERY for it as well with the 15777 UDP, the server itself when i start satisfactory appears online i was able to make a word put up password and everything in between, but when i try to connect it waits a bit and says connection to the host has been lost, is this just a ethernet problem ?
outdated ports
as of 1.1 you need, by default, 7777 TCP&UDP and 8888 TCP
if you want to use playit you need to align these with the ports given by playit
the 8888 port is told to the client by the server so the server MUST know what it is and if there is any kind of remapping done
I see ty
yup ok i got it to work ty
how do i add an edited save (from sf calculator) to my dedicated server?
I’m using WindowsGSM and the Satisfactory Experimental plugin. I can connect to the server via lan from my client PC. No one outside can see the server. I have ports 7777 and 8888 open on the routers and firewall. I have 3 others servers running via WindowsGSM in this server PC. Any insights on this?
Hi, I've set up a dedicated server on my PC and forwarded all ports to a separate web server. Everything works fine for me and most of my friends (see screenshot 1). But one of my friends has trouble connecting (see screenshot 2).
did you give him your PUBLIC IP address? or the 192.xxx.xxx.xxx/10.0.0.xxx etc?
make sure he's using the right one
I gave him the IP address of the web server (like everyone else)
ok...is there a password?
only admin
have him make sure he forwarded 7777 tcp/udp AND 8888 TCP (or whatever you are using) to his local machine from his router
Wdym "forwarded all ports to a separate webserver"?
Morning, im having issues with my server, 3 out of 4 people can connect to it just fine but the 4th gets kicked as soon as he tries to join. i see him join in the game but it says "your connection to the host has been lost" and he drops out within a minute of joining
forgot to port foreward 8888, its working now
running a dedicated server on my pc using zerotier as I cannot port forward, have one friend who has no issues getting in and another who is getting a not authenticated error
can we transfer local saves to a dedi server docker?
i wouldn't mind having my world being joinable, and producing 24/7
yes....open your local save folder and copy the named save you want to the server folder
Or just use the in-game server manager to upload the save
I have a question. I still haven't done the installing on my other PC because of time constraints however..
If I do download it what then? Cause I use Ubuntu for AMP meaning I have to turn off my PC and go into BIOS and restart the PC.
Will Tailscale always automatically connect to my main PC? Or it gets turned off when I go into Ubuntu?
You install it as a service on the system hosting the game server. It then acts as a kind of additional network card for access via the "tailnet".
For local access you can keep connection directly, nothing changed there.
So when I download it and I connected it to my PC I can restart it, go into BIOS, make Ubuntu the primary boot up and then everything is fine?
It has to be on the same OS as the game server
then im cooked? Cause I use Ubuntu
"Ubuntu server" more precisely
And I for sure can't get Tailscale there
Idk why would you run it on AMP (Unless you have other game servers) instead of running it in Docker (?)
I start my 2nd PC that acts as a server that has an Ubuntu start up.
On my 1st main PC I look on my AMP panel and my main PC is connected to that server.
And then that's it
then you need to install tailscale on the second pc
you can but don't need to install it on your main pc
and it does not matter if you main pc reboots/is turned off
Ok, so I install it, connect it, then reboot it into Ubuntu just like usual and it should be fine moving forward?
where is the satisfactory server (going to) run? the main or secondary PC?
Secondary PC
and the secondary pc has multiple OSs on it?
whats OSs
Operating Systems
It has 2. Windows and then "Ubuntu server"
I go into BIOS, make "Ubuntu server" the main one and it starts as that
and the satis server will run on/in ubuntu?
Well, my Minecraft server does and my AMP servers should
so yes
then install tailscale in ubuntu too
I can't, "Ubuntu server" is just that, a server UI
yes and?
how do I install it there then
tailscale has a command that you can just copy paste
but to link it to your account you best have a way to copy the linking url and open it in a browser
does not have to be the same device
Hm, okay. You know what, I might just buy premium playit.gg lmao
it's like 3$ a month
and all I have to do is make a tunnel
and ill play it for like 2 months
ssh?
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
https://youtu.be/ceYeDX5WTms?si=emK6LCx8BKNO-M3y
Downloaded Ubuntu server on my USB, put it into the 2nd PC.
Downloaded it, restarted it into BIOS, made Ubuntu server the 1st in line so it starts there.
Created the server, linked the 2nd PC with my main via Command Prompt, bought AMP, ggs
The first link is how I did it for my MC server
minute 14:00, thats ssh
if you did the "link", then you did ssh
Then I forgot, sorry
yes "link" back to your ubuntu server and install tailscale on therr
How would I do that?
tailscale tells you ervything you need to do when you create an account
watch back on the youtube video and it will tell you how to ssh into your machine. if you followed the guide as is
ok, so I can log onto my main PC and ssh it into my 2nd PC?
yes
Alright, i'll do that, thanks
once you ssh into the ubuntu server it will be easy pickings after that
Alright. I'll try to do that as soon as possible. My internet for my PC isn't working today for some reason so I'll try it when it does
is there instructions out there in the world wide interwebs on how to configure a server through ini files?
Can someone help me I don't know whats wrong with my fucking server
I'm not even the one hosting it and nobody can join it
other player trying to join sent this
WHAT DOES IT WANT FROM ME
you need to use server manager, even just to join, not join game
wdym Server manager?
im in the server manager rn. i can join just fine it's other people who can't
are you trying to use IPv6?
whatever you entered as the server address got resolved to an internal IPv6 address. if you didn't enter it by hand that should be fine
and you probably got the wrong port? if you didn't change anything the default port should be 7777
Also can we get more information? Who is hosting? Where is the Server in relation to you (same network/internet)?
What setup steps did you up till now
I am hosting tought a service called Hostinger
I'd link it but discord won't let me
I changed nothing about the server. I installed it hit play i could join no one else can
are you connected via some kind of VPN?
no
is this from you? or a friend trying to join?
and you friends entered the same connection information in their server managers too?
is the ip of the server. (Mods don't strike me down ok?)
thats what I gave them to join it works for me and not them
might want to delete it
looks fine though
tell them they have to use the server manager, not join game
had them try all of these ports nnothing
and whatever they did, it resolved the wrong IP
didn't work
have them run "nslookup <Server-address>" in cmd/powershell/bash/whatever and check if everybody gets the correct address
what does nslookup tell him?
i told him too
i have my amp server running my satisfactory server but to login to the server im using playit to get the ports to work but every time i try to join it does this after 20 seconds. i also was trying to fix it so i changed some of the ports but i have that reflected on playit so i cant figure out how to get in to the server. what should i do plz @ me so i get the noti if someone responds
I give up I can't get it to fucking work
and the other moron doesn't know how to open a cmd i just give up
Just search for cmd in the start menu
Or hit Win+R and enter cmd
have you tried turning it on and off?
Did you configure the secondary port on the server side?
And if yes, how?
i have no idea about any secondary port
the only ports i could see were those 3
Yeah, most don't do.
The server requires two/three ports
A base port in both TCP and UDP, by default 7777
And a reliable port in TCP, 8888 by default
And as the server tells the client the reliable port you have to either adjust it to the port given by playit or tell it about the remapping
@steep lark
so what am i supposed to do??
Get another port from playit and adjust the server accordingly
I have been experiencing constant stuttering every 5-10 seconds lately while playing with my friend. I have also been lookingin hosting a dedicated server and was wondering if that would help with stuttering if the dedicated server was on the same pc I play satisfactory on?
server needs about the same CPU and RAM req as the game. Can you feed both at the same time?
We will see 🤷 but lowering graphics didnt fix stuttering and as far as my research went, i just found that coop is prone to stuttering on the host end
Number of questions. Above post says secondary port (8888) required. Is that due to using Playit, or does the requirement apply in all cases?
What happens if firewall settings do not include secondary port 8888?
I watched 3 videos about server set up, but none talked about the server appears to be offline error msg. In response to it, I checked the mini computer on which I installed my dedicated server, and found it had lapsed into sleep mode. I changed the power saving settings to 'never' and the server offline problem seems to have gone away, or is it related to something else?
all cases
you'll get a timeout when you try to join a server even if in the server manager all looks okay
if the OS sends the PC to sleep theres not much the server can do
I succeeded in starting a new game on the server (separate mini computer) and then succeeded in joining it on my primary computer. It was all working fine until I uploaded materials for Base Building (first milestone). When the rocket returned, the milestone was not grayed out, no check mark, and I did not receive any of the rewards. I repeated the process and the rocket would not launch.
I have 7777 tcp and udp, but no 8888. No time-out msg so far.
@hidden forge ty
Does onboarding not work on dedicated servers?
I didn't enable skip onboarding but we started on tier 1
yes, a save started on a ds will currently always start on T1
if you want to play the onboarding, start a singleplayer save and upload it to the server
thanks. so its not cuz i missed something
we'll just keep going on tier 1. my bro will miss out on onboarding
he can run thru it solo, or peer to peer
I made a dedicated server, all seemed well, but my friend can't join. I have 7777 TCP/UDP and 8888 TCP port forwarded on my internet provider's website. 1 thing that came to mind was that all the video tutorials showed to add the ports as an exception or something to my firewall, could that be the problem?
yeah....if you have the firewall enabled
When I create a new game on my dedicated server, it seems that it always sets up advaned game settings with unlock everything in awesome shop... it does this even though I explicitly do not click on the advanced games settings when createing a new game
Is htis just me? Or does that happen to everyone?
and how can I fix that so I can start a clean play-thru with no chats
(cheats)
does anyone have a fresh satisfactory server?
!lfg
Hello there totally awesome user! You can checkout https://discordapp.com/channels/370472939054956546/1201555265942724758 and check the pins on how to find folks to play with. <3
This happens in servers that you set advanced settings in...every game you make, from then on, has those settings attached. I forget exactly, but I remember it being a pain in the ass to reset it. So I have 3 Dedicated Servers now, One vanilla, and the other two with advanced settings
You will need to load a save that doesn't have a "Pencil" icon. If you don't have one, the easiest way is to start a regular NON D.S. server game, once you load in, save, then exit and load that save into the dedicated server. Start that game in the dedicated server, load in, then exit and you should be able to create a new game after that with no Advanced settings.
It doesnt "seem" to make sense but the way it works is, the server uses settings from the currently loaded game as its "base" settings. So every game created on that server follows those base settings. The reason the advanced settings dont behave like other settings is because of the achievement settings tied to it.
Hello Guys, I am renting a Server for satisfactory by Nitrado. After finding the right port, i can now Fin the Server in the in-game server manager. Unfortunately ne and my friends are not able to join. The error screen states that we are unable to connect to the server API. Did anyone had similiar issues or knows a fix?
Thanks in advance
Can someone give me a hint re dedicated server? Running as Docker container in unraid, was working previously (in ver 1.0), now when I try to connect t oserver, it tries to connect but I get dumped back to main menu immediately - Connection has been lost. Server data cleaned, started fres, tried with new game and save that runs fine locally - same behaviour.
I am trying to post a pastebin link to sever logs but it keeps dissapearing...
?
Oh... Ok, if anyone is same dumbass as me... RTFM, port 8888 TCP is required 😄 - fixed
Hey guys, any writeup/tutorial on how to set up a dedicated server locally?
Like ELI5 level
I added exceptions to my firewall. Friend still can't connect, I honestly can't understand what's wrong, wiki is not helpful on multiple levels. It just asks "have you done this? if yes, good. if no, we wont provide what to do"
Check that the IP you tell them is correct and reachable over the internet
Don't know what ELI5 is but try the wiki in the pins
IPv4 right?
If you want to use v4
😑
v4 of your router, v6 of the server
wiki on the subject is kinda trash, DM and it'll take me 5 mins to walk you through it
howdy, im getting these errors whenever i try and connect to my server, not sure why this is happening
this is what the console says, the popup i get in game just says "your connection to the host has been lost."
im able to upload saves and download them just fine, but it wont let me connect, both network qualitys are the same
all ports are enabled on both tcp and udp just to be sure
Looks like port 8888 TCP is not reachable if it is set at default ports
all ports
which ones?
7777,8888,15777,15000
15XXX are no longer in use
can you double check the 8888/tcp port?
15xxx hasnt been used in , what, 3 years now
i know for certain 8888tcp is good
Stop server, restart, then try connecting, then post full log, as that one says that 8888 TCP is not
how?
server seems to be in the same network as you? any kind of port remapping done?
running through pterodactyl, panel is on a vps and the node in on a local server, wireguard through and using FRP to connect, cloudflare to route to the VPS with a url, i have 3 places that i need to add it and i have verified at every single point
full log from it marked as running
i can say that is not the full log
yes
where would the full log be located
when i stop my server in Pterodactyl and restart it, it does show the full log in the window
yeah but it doesnt show all of it, so by the time its done starting, it deletes the top lines
okat found the issue
didnt allocate thje port in pterodactyl
i did it everwhere BUT there
that was going to be the next question afer verifying the startup ports in the log
connected now
awesome
thanks for the help
has there been a fix for splitters slowing down the conveyors on dedicated servers? It keeps happening on a dedicated server a friend is running (through hosting service) and a restart only fixes it for a few hours at best. I've seen reports a year old that report the same issue 🙁
Pretty sure the steam deck UI still has issues, one example but I can’t log into the dedicated server as an admin from the steam deck
Hey guys Im struggling with my dedicated server right now, Me and my friends are struggling with building a very large fuel generator and want to use t3 blueprints but we dont have them unlocked so we have decided to upload BPS, however it seems like the folder doesnt exist (see attached image) we do have blueprints saved and working, and in folders. Additionally the name of the save is not a problem as it doesnt have any spaces or reserved chars. am i missing something or is my server doing something funky?
Solved, wasnt looking in .config
I'm running into an issue where I can't get my server to do a "graceful shutdown" (ie using the quit command in the console) and have it stay shut down. It always comes back up within 30 sec to maybe a couple min. I cannot for the life of me figure out why it keeps restarting on its own.
I'm trying to edit the mods on the server but the files are locked when the server is running. If we just stop the container (it's running in docker), the file stays locked, I assume because unlocking the file is part of the graceful shutdown process.
The container is probably set to "restart: always"
A container stop should free all file handles. Are the files you want to edit outside the container image?
Stop container and restart host. If the files are still locked it is not the game
Thank you for replying! After fiddling with it all day we finally figured it out late last night. The files were being restricted to a single user so we changed the user inside the container to the person trying to edit them and that seemed to fix it.
Hi,
On Dedicated server I found a very strange bug. If I (I host the server) get close to a machine for example a manufacturer it starts working, however if I move further like 20 meters it starts Idleing. The other person on the server sees that it starts idling. Hence we have a lot of issues with Nuclear Plants, fluids, everything. Is this a known issue?
I wanna say I am PRETTY sure the machines are still doing what they are supposed to be doing and this has to do with "Low" (lower than "High") graphics settings in your game (both you AND your buddy) The game is designed to stop certain animations/render certain things/lower render quality vs how far away you are. An easy test, just to make sure, would be for you to MAX out everything in your graphics settings save and restart the game...then see what happens. But this would be a first for me, never heard of or seen this issue.
I will say there is a particular issue with "height". I was up on a pretty high cliff edge standing on top of a miner extracting Bauxite. Looking down, 20 meters or so, there was no Bauxite on the belt but when I jump down, poof, it reappears and if I move away (same-ish height as belt it's on) it doesn't disappear until I'm about 500-ish meters away.
This doesn't seem to happen with belts closer to the "Ground" (water level-ish) Walking to the edge of the cliff looking down, I see all the parts feeding on belts hundreds of meters down and away.
there is also an anomaly with the hoverpack switching electrical grids, which will cause a pause in machines
I found a bug with homing rounds on a dedicated server, they always seem to shoot down towards the ground. Only work when hovering/jetpacking above enemies
does anyone know a fix for this besides restarting the server every few hours?
Yeah that’s another but we also figured it out that the Northest Uranium’s conveyor belt is empty, even though the miner is producing the ores without any issue, later down the line (as we mive the ores down) suddenly they start to appear 🙂
That could be the issue. What do you mean it causes issue? I was using hover pack at that time
It causes a power related stutter in the machines, when switching grids (power switches). Take it off, put it back on, usually ends it for that session. have to do it again tomorrow
Oh, and btw another bug is that if I carry some radioactive material and put them into a storage, container, anything then the debuff remains on me indefinitely. Even restarting the client does not remove the debuff, only restarting the server works.
So that’s why the pumps may stop working when I’m around my nuclear plants…. I started calling them Schroedinger’s nuclear plant as the water started misbehaving when I was checking the pipe’s level 😂
yeah, its a head scratcher! lol
Awesome, thanks for the info! ☺️
heyo! my friend and i are trying to get me onto his dedicated server - currently he is using HOST on docker and has given me the public ip and port, his ports in docker are done properly for udp and tcp, according to all the guides, but i cant see his server when i go to add it
- which docker image is he using?
- which ports are configured?
- did he forward the ports from the router to the host?
-
bind mount example
linuxgsm-sf-bind:
image: gameservermanagers/gameserver:sf
container_name: sfserver
restart: unless-stopped
volumes:
/opt/linuxgsm/sfserver:/data
network_mode: host
-
7787 TCP/UDP // 8888UDP
-
router is in bridge mode
he also has the 2 15XXX ports there getting 0's back so he commented them out
@hidden forge
default ports are 7777/tcp, 7777/udp and 8888/tcp
15XXX are no longer in use
if he adjusted the docker config accordingly 7787 is fine too ofc
@knotty brook
so me not seeing the server is still the issue, could there be something else we're missing?
Pm me the full container and router config
getting hte info from my buddy, ill make aconvo with us
I'm also having trouble with other players connecting to my server lol.. seems to be a common issue. It worked before, when -multihome= was needed, but I cannot figure it out now. Hosted on a box at home, ubuntu server 24.04 with ssh terminal, ports 7777 and 8888 open with tcp/udp and also allowed through firewall. I can connect with my internal IP, but no one can connect with public. Says server is offline, name pending, not authenticated. Almost acts like port forwarding isn't working, but my Valheim server is functioning correctly so.. [edit] no docker or service file. I did try making service file but it made no difference, also tried changing the port with the same result.
Hello everyone! Are there any people who understand how to install a server on a Dedik with the same mods? I'm just from Russia, and I couldn't find a proper guide
ЗДАРОВА
how should I begin setting up a dedicated server...
I remember having some bug with SteamCMB under Fedora
Are you from Russia?****
Sydney, australia
ok
But I don't see why location would matter in a software package
@hexed flint I setup my dedicated on Windoze and it was easy enough, doing it on linux depends heavily on your flavour.
@serene skiff have you forwarded the ports to the correct IP address in the router?
make sure you use a static IP on the server, that is a big thing to make sure you do so that it doesn't dynamically pick another IP. My server recently had issues (turned invisible for no reason), and I just re-added all the firewall rules and it fixed it. No idea why it happened, I put the same rules in again...
Yes. Same device and IP I ran Valheim on. I double checked anyway, but it is correct. When I check with "ss -plnut | grep FactoryServer", it shows correct ports listening according to the example from the wiki.
same ports? because if the correct ports arent forwarded from the router it wont work.
for a temp check you can assign the server host as DMZ, but do not leave this setting on long term.
Alright. Ill get a screenshot in a bit. Maybe I'm not looking at it correctly. First.. Coffee lol
Do I also need to forward 7778 and 7779?
so these are on the server, I was asking about the router, that thing between the server and the internet.
I can open each one and show its correct, but I've checked it probably 20 times lol
One sec
just verify that the ip address that is forwarded is correct
yes the ip is correct.
do you want to dm me the external IP and I'll try to connect then
Wegen u have Problems Like this, Ask your internet provider if they have opened these ports.
i hate windows
i hate windows
But I'm familiar with Debian, Fedora and Arch
better than mac os
Well, better to have a windows pc than whatever tf apple puts in their slug-machines.
Im trying to run the server through ports 7777 and 7778 (in repalcement of 8888) how would i do that?
CrApple is dogshit
need to run your erver with a .bat file and assign those ports
Here is one of my servers
FactoryServer.exe -log -unattended -port=7788 -ReliablePort=8890
hello, Im looking for some help with trying to start a dedicated server for I and my friends. but im having an issue with my friends outside of my network joining, Im unsure on what im doing wrong. but visually when a friend tries to join it show them they have joined in game. an they are loading for about 60 seconds then gets disconnected. and cant join. I have port forwarded, and open exceptions in my firewall. I am not super knowledgable with server stuff but have a little experience. Thanks!
it could be that your friend has a dodgy internet connection then
if you PM me the server details I can attempt to login as well.
alright give me a moment
Most likely missing the secondary port 8888/tcp in your forwarding/firewall setup
i have done that :)
Might be a UDP issue then if nobody can join
so what can i do to fix that ?
How are you hosting the served?
Can you post your forwarding and firewall config?
im hosting it via a seperate small pc, and not sure how to post firewall config but i can attach a screenshot of forwarding
Try separating the 7777 in UDP and TCP rules
ill try that
that unfortunatly did not work
Any recommendations as far as the easiest set up windows vs docker container and image?
@amber ermine if you want you can PM me the servers IP and i can try joining
You need to forward 7777 TCP and UDP as well as 8888 TCP
Might also make sure your IP is static and make sure your server is plugged into Ethernet. enough lag (20 seconds), and it disconnects anybody.
I created a docker container and got the image all configured, but I am unable to connect to my own host. I just keep losing connection
Anyone know common issues with this?
How can you guys expect this game to survive when 2 IT folk, very computer savvy cannot create a dedicated server to the game... unreal - I've tried everything.
can you be a little more vague with the description of the issue?
did you try turning it off, and turning it on again?
.... it took me less than 30 minutes to get one up and running, self hosted, first time I ever hosted a satisfactory server.
I used steamcmd, never tried docker on windows though... since you are 2 IT folk I will assume you understand you have to make sure ports are open on your docker container, Windows Firewall, and network router/firewall.
My buddy tried to create through that method and ran into issues getting me to connect. I have now tried docker for the last 3 hours and cannot connect to my self.
My ports are forwarded for tcp/udp/7777/27015, my firewall configured, my pc ip is static the container is up and running.
I am attempting to join to my local ip. Host connection lost each time.
It finds the server, it just will NOT let me join it.
PS C:\SatisfactoryCompose> docker port satisfactory

The only thing I can think is that there is some handshake somewhere that authorizes me that is failing. Epic or something
the default port for reliableport is 8888, did you open that?
ah yes... I did have some trouble with the reliableport. friends were connecting and sdisconnecting immediately. reviewed docs, saw that, fixed that, been great ever since.
I just added reiableport to the config. With that said, port forwarding should not effect me as I simply cannot join my own server. Using local host 127.0.0.1 or LAN IP 192.168...
if that doesn't work at all, then your docker script or whatever you are using for satisfactory is defective.
reinstall the satisfactory server and try again
what repo are you getting the docker script from
should be wolveix?
si
might just delete it all including game, do a fresh reinstall and start over tomorrow
actually, do docker compose logs and let me see whats wrong
it'll be way too big to paste here, give a txt file instead
ive had others try to join and still no luck, i have my server connected to ethernet. and i have forwared the correct 3 ports
1 sec
server healthy, you didnt change anything from the default compose file given right?
also, you can delete this
could anyone else have any idea to my issue. im still getting it
from what was given in the image? no
allow ports 7777tcp 7777udp and 8888tcp on your firewall
its not clear what exactly is affecting it, but the udp is not working as expected as the server never gets a singular packet after the initial join
okay I'll give that a shot, going to be a minute.. I need to investigate how to do that. really shouldn't be a problem with my current fw state though...
does anyone know whats going on here, this is happening when my friend tries to join and he still cant connect
im getting desprate to fix this if anyone can help me please
Can you post the compose?
Can someone help me and a friend fix this error?

I got it working
I got it working - at least for me. need to test with friend
The old port configuration was sticky. Even after shutting down the container the old port configuration I had was staying. After I composed down and shut docker completely down (a restart for good measure) I was able to get the ports to reflect the change.
I need help deciding which host provider to go for need SEA/INDIA region for latency what specs would I need? Its for a friend and I we are in tier 8 and my pc is now struggling to host and play so Its time move to server for me. Im confused please help
Why does the server crash after preparing world? Anyone who had the same problem?
is this a known issue? i've built 6 train stations, on the map and compass 5 of the 6 marks for the stations are at 0 0, they stay there both after a game reload and the daily server reboot, i'm not really sure how to fix them
are you sure it crashes? servers take a time to load the world and do not respond in the meantime, which might appear as if it crashed
I can't find any errors in the logs. The client says the server is offline. After I wait 5 minutes the client can connect to the server again. But there is no world generated.
Should be a visual only issue, any time you get near one, it should move it back to where it actually is until you move away again.
can you try again and keep an eye on the log? does it actuall go through the startup again?
me when docker doesnt work as intended 💀
Hello everybody, my nitroserv server just expired and I was very disappointed by the performance.
Do you have any suggestion for another server hosting ?
Facts! But it did luckily!
I think the problem might be proxmox and kvm64.
Oh yeah, kvm64 is too old
Best set to host. If you can't set it to host, at least a very modern cpu-type, x64-v3 or better iirc
is there bros using proxmox?
i use ubuntu 24.04 lxc for dedicated server
7777 tcp+udp forwarded and ufw allow
router os is openwrt, forwards section ok
server runs as service with .service file with config from wiki's running as service
steamcmd and server are created without docker or smth
it was running ik for some time, then something happend and i have problem "Failed to connect to Server API"; as detail i can say that i changed vpn client in that day, the only network related thing;
also game shows that server pings ok
however, my friends can connect to the server and play ok
tried create new fresh lxc for server, got no results, also tried to find any errors or something with wireshark, got no results
what do you think is the problem?
you need port 8888/tcp too
also if ping is ok but can't connect to the API is an indicator that something with 7777/tcp is broken
yeah, ping ok
8888 is forwarded and ufw allow
is there some way to check it with logs ot smth?
see if the service logs it somewhere, otherwise stop it and run it by hand
ok i will write there tommorow
Hi this has probably been asked before but there are so many topics and posts in here, I have been playing for a couple weeks with a friend in Australia, I am in USA he has been hosting and no issue, yesterday I kept getting booted and it would come up saying "UNet Connection:: Tick: Connection TIMED OUT. Closing connection....." this happened right as i logged in. then he decided to get a dedicated server and he and another friend (in Japan) have no issue connecting, I just keep getting "your connection to the host has been lost" they say I appear in game, my avatar stands, then I just disconnect. On my end it doesn't even load into the game. just brings me back to home screen. like i said before we were playing for about a couple weeks no issue. now i cant even log on. any suggestions, im on widows 11 if that makes any difference. please and thank you for any help.
ended up getting a VPN and it fixed the problem
if a vpn fixed it, its probably got something to do with routing. it will fix itself maybe in a month or so, depending on how long the isps take to fix the issue.
so there it is
i found some intresting lines, maybe them can cause no connection
does server thinks that my home router is player?
about 7777, this is what i have on router forwards
you dont need the 15XXX anymore
ok deleted
otherwise correct, but might block connections from internal to your wan ip
maybe the VPN screwed soemthing up?
do you use your WAN ip to connect or the servers local IP?
just bypass wan/router and use the servers direct ip for internal systems
192.168.1.X ?
yes
and no multihome arg?
change nothing on the server side
just add the server in the server manager with the 192.168.1.50 IP
did you configure a firewall in the lxc?
its inactive
can you access https:// 192.168.1.50:7777/ in your browser?
you said you changed your VPN the day it broke? did you install or uninstall one? maybe it interferes with "http" traffic?
installed throne vpn, deleted v2raytun using revo uninstaller
rejected
like
connection dropped
huh
so it works fine, just not in the game client? weeeeeird
yeah it works but not in game
i remember playing with vit registry fix, maybe it killed some electrons inside computer...
it was the same day with vpn things
do you remember which registry items you changed?
maybe try reinstalling the game client?
reinstall satisfactory game?
this program found like 1500+ registry things
then deleted them
ah, revo did?
revo deleted and vit deleted "errors"
maybe vit touched something related
reinstalling now game
same problem
hmge
tried client -> vpn -> server no result
maybe try fix registry fixer with another registry fixer
if you go via VPN, you need to use your WAN IP again
i used ccleaner
now it shows this sometimes
.224 is my PC ipv4
no connect still
almost looks like it can't decide if it want to go via router or direct
i added bot wan and lan ip addresses in game's server manager
now i removed them and .224 dont appear anymore
joins game does not work with dedi server
restart game and only try lan?
i just dont appera in log anymore after deleted servers in manager
i'll try recreate lxc with steamcmd and sati just for sure
reinstalled even whole proxmox because broke something during diagnostics
still cant connect
idk i have revios, made changes with vpn, played with registry things, i think its pretty ok that something broken, i have empty ssd, so i'll install fresh windows and check
windows reinstall helped, i can interact with server
so, problem is with my pc, now for sure
anyone wanting to play? bored of playing by myself
appreciate it
HOW TO FRIENDS SERVER MANGAER CANT SEEION ID
This is a chat channel with humans, not a search engine.
Please ease off the caps and try again with a fully formulated sentence describing the problem.
Best to add additional information too, like who is hosting, how the server is hosted, etc.
idk
¯_(ツ)_/¯
hiya, guys. new here and new to linux. had a dedicated server running on windows and then moved onto linux. all is working and saves moved well... but i no longer see the dedicated server's little info window i had on windows. the black and white window where it'd say when it is saving, server's uptime, who joins, how many users pinging the server and etc. any1 knows how to get that back on linux?
That's the console window and depends on how you are running the server
on mint, through steam. literally just double-clicking it.
it does not run as a service or anything
And it doesn't show the console then? Weird
Open a console window, navigate to the binary and run it from the console then
Hm... Will try
yup, it worked. thank you.
reinstalled windows, now it's XOS, also installed same vpn client to double check issue, so now i can interact with server and i'm pretty sure that playing with registry things was really bad idea
interesting
Hello, I have a question. My game won't start anymore. I've tried everything, but nothing has worked. I don't know what to do.
Hey! I've installed a clean installation of the server through SteamCMD and when i try to join the game it shows: "Your connection to the host has been lost" after loading for 15s, any ideas how to fix?
That's what i found in logs, don't know if its any use: [2026.02.03-21.55.39:426][402]LogGame: Error: RegisterPlayerWithSession: Failed- UniqueId.IsValid(): true, IsV2(): true, IsOnline: false
probably missing the reliableport, 8888/tcp by default, in your setup
might it be something with that tho?
What Xeet is getting at is that, by default, 7777tcp/udp and reliable 8888tcp are used and you need those set as forwarded in your router and if you use a .bat for server execution, make sure you have -ReliablePort=8888 included in the command
no its normal and expected errors
Alright, so I just installed the dedicated server for the first time, opened the ports, and no matter what I do, it says the server is offline. I have a Valheim dedicated server running on the same PC (Windows 11), everything works great and everyone can connect. I cannot figure out what I'm missing, any suggestions?
how old was the guide you used to build it
or rather, what ports did you open
Yo, I'm starting a server with my friends, hosted by my self.
I got the erreor "Failed to connect to the game API".
My port is opened on 7777/8888 but its not working. My firewall too.
There is how i'm starting the server :
start "" "FactoryServer.exe" -log -Unattended -Port=7777 -ReliablePort=8888
I cant connect to the server except using a my local IP + port
Thanks is advance, I hope anyone can help me to resolve the problem
❤️
UDP 7777 TCP 7777/8888
forward those ports thru router?
I did it but when I'm watching the port on my computer, he's still looking on 39032 port
Im taking a screen ty for you're response 🌻
both of you, if the server is on your local network, use the local address (192.168.x.x)
Nah we're splitted arround Europe
I dont see the 7777TCP for you.
I didnt change his name but he was called (wasan ancient port used by my minecraft server)
Shall I screen you whats going on my firewall ?
curl: (28) Failed to connect to (my public ip) port 7777 after 21030 ms: Could not connect to server
If you are self hosting, it is normal to connect with local IP. If same machine, %localhost% would work
most routers dont like to route to themselves
yeah I guess lol
So how can I open the port to my friends ?
I was using the same strategy with my mc server but it doesnt seems to work with satisfactory
They should be able to use the public IP. Some ISPs use a CGNAT, and you have to contact them for their "workaround"
and the secondary port complicates these servers over more basic minecraft servers
okay :/
can you post the firewall rules?
ty tho 🙂
sure
There is 3*2 rules cause i tried on few plateform
Tout = All
Oui = Yes
are they outgoing or incoming?
incoming is correct
can you delete them and re-add them using the following powershell commands?
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Allow Satisfactory default inbound port udp" -Direction Inbound -Action Allow -EdgeTraversalPolicy Allow -Protocol UDP -LocalPort 7777
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Allow Satisfactory default inbound port tcp" -Direction Inbound -Action Allow -EdgeTraversalPolicy Allow -Protocol TCP -LocalPort 7777
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Allow Satisfactory default inbound reliable port tcp" -Direction Inbound -Action Allow -EdgeTraversalPolicy Allow -Protocol TCP -LocalPort 8888
sourced from the wiki in the pins
Sweet zombie jesus it worked. I knew it was something stupid. Thank you ❤️
If I was considering running a server from my home pc what would be drawbacks/limitations of doing so
wow, I fixed something!
did it
I got to answer a question about train signals today, blew my mind
you are basically running the game twice, just one without the GPU load
you have to keep your PC running for others to be able to play
you are opening your personal PC to the internet
try the servers internal IP for yourself
if the server appears there, have your friends try with your external IP
Nevermind it worked !!
I just waited fews secs
ty my bro ❤️
Check your DM
there's a present for you
So theoretically as long as I keep my pc internet and power running its open to everybody?
not open open, but attackabe if there is a security bug in the server software
So… make my friend host it instead of me?
thats the way!
imo if you thinking about hosting on the same system you play on, just use the built-in multiplayer
if you want a dedicated server, best make it a different system
Looking into server bc of shared save my friend and I have been playing
Playtimes dont always line up, so hoping to solve with server
tbf it's (currently) a low risk
more of current concern is the power of your PC if it can run two inscances of the game at once
Hmmm
My cats like to step on my power button (its on top of case) so if my friend has the hardware capability ima have them do it lol
The server process seems to be only consuming one core of the two I've provisioned for it. Is it a single threaded process? Do I need to do something to tell it do use all available cores?
it's mostly single threaded yes
For a general guide, sse the wiki in the pins
satisfactory wiki?
are you using a linux distro as server, or your own computer to run the server?
my own
You're probably using Win11 (AMD64), am I right?
when laoding my server up on linux, steamcmd it says the server and game version are mismatched, how do i solve this?
update the older, outdated version, be it server or client.
i’ve sorted it now, my steamcmd wasn’t updating correctly
How would I make it so my server is running Fixmass without the date being correct?
Do you have to do the experimental build for a dedicated server if you want both epic and steam users to work on it? My friend is telling me the epic release is behind or something than Steam's updates?
Nope you shouldn't have to
My dedicated server doesn't need that
however, i think that it's because even though i havent paid the game through steam but through epic, i still installed the steam dedicated server.
If i remember well, there is a docker image of the satisfactory dedicated server that allows you to do this
Hi, looking for some troubleshooting help for setting up a dedicated server. When trying to connect to it from my desktop using the server manager, all that shows up is could not connect to the server, failed to connect to the server API
when i click retry, a server certificate warning pops up. A message shows saying I need to be authenticated to see the information, and then a popup shows that connection to the server has been lost
Hi I rented a server from supercraft hosting I can get into server with my ftp user but no one else can join using the ftp port or ftp user using the same address
hey guys. trying to get this dedicated server up and running. i have it up. i can join. my buddy joined but then kicks him and tells him Failed to connect to server API. i have forwarded the 3 ports it reccomends
@crisp kindle are you available to help? sorry for the ping
Need help lol. Anyone. Going on 3 hours of testing
im goated and figured it out myself
Cool. Sorry for late response, but i was sleeping :/
Okay, how are you hosting your server ? On a virtual private server ? A hosting company ? A spare device of yours ?
Then, did you open all ports needed for the server ?
As you said, you add useing ***FTP *** information, not ***satisfactory ***. Try to find the port for satisfactory
Hey everyone, I’m running into a strange issue with my Satisfactory dedicated server and I’m a bit stuck.
I can’t reliably join the server anymore. It looks like a Reliable Buffer Overflow, but it only happens with most save files.
One specific save does work, and when I load that one I can keep joining until the next regular server restart. After that, the issue comes back.
When joining, I get stuck on the loading screen. I can hear machines running in the background, and sometimes I can even use tools, but I’m still stuck loading. Increasing timeouts doesn’t help. This also happens with all mods disabled.
What I’ve tried so far: running fully vanilla with all mods disabled, multiple server restarts, testing different save files, and increasing client and server timeouts. All required ports are already correctly open and have been for a long time, the server has been working fine for about 790 hours.
DM me for the: client logs, server logs, the docker compose file, a save file, and the SMM profile.
If anyone has seen this before or has any ideas, I’d really appreciate the help.
? The server is configured correctly. I played almost every week without any issues since version 1.0. Only this year has this issue started occurring.
which would explain why the patches made with 1.1 broke it
I experienced better loading times since version 1.1. There were not many game-breaking issues, and they only started about 2 weeks ago
When i create a new save the server has no issues with loading in.
These are the symptoms of the reliable port not being able to connect
hmm maybe the docker container does something weard let me check what happens when i run it outside of docker
Hi I got it fixed, was forwarding to a wrong port. thanks
I wonder how well a server would run on a Xeon E5-1630 v3 in a hyperv container with 3-4 processors and like 12gb of ram
the single thread rating is 2.2k and the wiki advises 2k
probably gonna struggle relatively early in a playthrough
does someone know good server hosting websites? all i know is gportal but you cant configure the hardware over there
and im pretty sure gportal servers dont have enough RAM and CPU power for endgame worlds
Anyone know any way to fix a multiplayer disconnect issue my frend and I are having? He keeps disconnecting almost instantly. I'm able to play no issues. I think he is having an error code that relates to corrupt belts but unsure how to fix. Alot has been built since he last played so unable to really revert back. Hes on PC with ethernet. Also have crash log as follows:
Trying to resize TArray to an invalid size of 2147483648
FConveyorChainSegmentRPCData::NetSerialize() → FGConveyorChainSubsystem.cpp:691
Array index out of bounds: -1 from an array of size 0
FConveyorChainItemRPCData::NetSerialize() → FGConveyorChainSubsystem.cpp:429
CreateSavedMove: Hit limit of 96 saved moves
Where is the server hosted? At your home?
Its just through the multiplayer option in game. Not a dedicated mp but was told to ask here as better chance of getting an answer
i'm having trouble making my server hosted on a second computer accessible from outisde my network
port have been redirected on my ubiquity network but still people getting a timed out error
i even tried with the multihome=0.0.0.0 but not working
Which ports?
i changed it to 27080 when launching the server, so those are forwarded aswell
when i ping the port they are open
but outsider cannot join
27080 tcp/udp and 8888 tcp/udp
Time out in the server manager or while connecting?
outsiders cannot access manager nor join game
Can you show me the forwarding config?
Are you sure your IP is public?
firewall on the pc itself is open aswell on those port
i'm having trouble on certain games but minecraft is working fine
Your WAN IP is not a public IP
So something is in front of it
Is that configured as well?
Firewall config of the server please
Windows Network is set to private?
8888 is TCP only, that's fine
where is that ?
i forgot
hum
FFS
its on private
You friends add the server useing the 27080 port, right?
Not at my PC rn
i can acess the server using the local ip on my end
but outsiders are "locked"
having the same issue on Space engineers
Stop the server and test the port again?
when i stop the server the port is closed
Then its probably something on your friends end
it's on all my friends that's the issue
You can PM me the IP and ill try later if you want
cause none of my friends can join this server
i'm the only one who can and i'm using the local ip to join it since i can't use loopback on my router
found the issue (my provider box)
if i remove it completly and clone the mac adrees onto my UDM pro, all my servers become accesible
so they might have played with some settings that i cannot access
gonna give them a call tomorrow to see what's up
Anyone had issues with servers showing up as offline with server name pending, my friend is getting in fine but we can’t get in
We are running the server through pine hosting if that makes a difference
hi! someone know how to fix the server api problem? i have an other game server opened on the 7777 and i don't know if is this the problem
if you have another game server on port 7777, then you have to run the server on another port.
I installed the Dedicated Server from Steam and the firewall port should be open, but I keep getting the server is offline and not Authenticated. What should I do?
nvm I figured It out
anybody on cachyOS using steamcmd? I'm trying to simply find the save files for the dedicated server and I think I am having trouble because I created a non-sudo user as per the steamcmd instructions but that makes it so I can't see the sav files I think.
the server user have a home
save files are in ~/.config/Epic/FactoryGame/...
~ is user's home
you can check your /etc/passwd for home directory
I can't seem to get my server to even work properly with the right egg on Pterodactyl Panel, ports 8888 and 7777. When I try to create a new run world it just crashes. I want to upload an existing save was just debugging it. Tried many different things couldn't figure it out. Hopefully someone could help me. Thanks.
Not sure what it could be. Did I miss something.
That is only part of the log, might need to see the rest of it, the whole log can be found at: home/container/FactoryGame/Saved/Logs
I used to play with a group on a dedicated servers hosted by one of the other players. One day I could not connect anymore . All other players can still connect. I have tried everything. Opening ports on my router, checking NAT type. Checking my Windows firewall. The game version is the same as the other players as well. I verified my game files though steam. I can ping the server using cmd with success but in Satisfactory it shows the server is offline. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated. I am out of ideas.
sh
Hy guys! I am pretty new member here and i already have a question for start 😄 Is there a way for checking who is online and/or check server stats trough linux cli (ssh)? I have dedicated server running on ubuntu server with a pretty low-spec hardware. Thank you in advance.
virtual machine looks like, so set cpu type to host instead of kvm, also unless you sanitized the log, the startup arguments are missing.
How have things been running a dedicated server on Linux from the epic store setup? I used to use a windows dedicated on the same machine I used to play, but I have a dedicated Linux server and hoped to move to that.
I saw some comments in the subreddit about the whole server bogging down after a bit of uptime and issues connecting due to client mismatch errors.
It looks like the problem is authentication. I cannot authenticate myself. Anyone know a solution or where I can find it?
Thanks
As a PLAYER you do not have to do any kind of forwarding or punching holes in your firewall
Did you try removing the server, restart the game, and re-add it?
Yes, multiple times
Can you open https://<Server-IP>:port in a browser?
No, but the server is run on portainer and I can access that (Docker server).
I think we found the problem.
One of the other players could connect to the server on the same network as me. When we deleted the server and try to rejoin we kept getting Server name pending not authorised. That is where I'm stuck at.
Same problem but hosting (mine) Game console restart/start/turn off, but I'm fine, but my friends can't connect((
Port: 2378
This fixed our problem.
I only have a gamepad: IP, a couple of buttons and that's it...
I don’t host the server so I just sent all the info to our server manager and he did his magic.
People help, the server lets me in, but doesn't let my friends in, it's just TIMED-OUT
where are you hosting the server?
url in private message
then ask the support
They give you a test server every 7 days, and you sit there and figure it out yourself.
After 10-15 seconds the host just disappears even though I play quietly and they don't see it, or it says timed out and the numbers are different 60 62 60.22ms
I am looking to get a dedicated server for up to 3 players, how much RAM would you recommend. I have seen packages with 6-10GB. I imagine satisfactory would prefer more RAM but I have not tried it before so what would be a good amount?
I use scalacube, the tariff there is simply TOP, you don't need to buy an IP (especially for yourself so that there are ports 7777, etc. To make it work)
i need some help been trying to diagnose this for a while now the sever seems to start ok but then as soon as a player try's to join it loaded them in the kicks them with a lost connection to sever this world has been running on a sever since the start of 2024 we stopped playing about jan 2025 and now want to get it back going again but it wont let us join the world works fine in single player any one know a fix for this
did you add the port 8888/tcp to your firewall/forwarding config?
does it run well for 3 people? how much RAM does it support, I dont see that on the website
so there is not firewall and all ports are open from what i know does port 8888 need to be assigned to the container
yes
ok did that but its still doing the same thing
do you use docker? can you post the compose?
its under pterodactyl using https ://raw.githubusercontent.com/pelican-eggs/eggs/refs/heads/master/game_eggs/steamcmd_servers/satisfactory/egg-satisfactory.json
looking at the ports it's an outdated egg with pre 1.0 ports. get an up to date one
that would make sence as this was pre 1.0 when we were playing it originally
ok that has worked thank you been trying to trouble soot that for like 3 days and was getting no where
Hello, Im trying to setup a dedicated server, I have the server setup. Im routing the factoryserver.exe file thru my servers firewall. I have Port 7777, 8888 open on my router but i am unable to join the server from even my local network. Any help would be great!
i can join local but my freinds can't
soo same issue
Configure the firewall with the ports instead of the exe
Also depending on your router you might not be able to join with your WAN IP from inside your network
For performance on a server with friends is it better to do modular factories or 1 mega factory?
Gotcha thanks that worked! I have a dynamic IP so I have set up a dynamic dns and it appears to be working fine for me
Hello everyone, i'm new to that game and i have my friends.
we want to play together in one world but we dont want anyone to host the game on his pc.
how we can use a dedicated server to be able to join whenever we want (not dependent on the host).
I also can see there is a dedicated server on epic games how does that works can i use that?
The DS is intended to but just that. As long as it runs everybody can join independently.
Setup tldr:
Install server
Setup networking
Connect to server
Thank you @hidden forge , is there any tutorial i can go with to get this done ?
You can try the wiki in the pins/channel description
I am having a similar issue, I can join but my freinds have errors i have the ports setup on router and firewall
I cant connect to my dedicated server with my ps5? Anyone know how?
join the master race?
steamcmd +force_install_dir ~/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
~/SatisfactoryDedicatedServer/FactoryServer.sh
Anyone have an idea why my Dedi server started loading experimental for what i can surmise is no reason at all??
if you loaded experimental at all and never switched it back to the normal branch it would have stayed on the experimental branch, just removing the command for experimental is not enough
gah, that must've snuck in from me copying my home directory before reinstalling a different Linux a month ago... is it in a config file i can go delete so that it won't do that anymore?
Apologies, quick google shows it's in server settings, and possibly need to wipe the main folder and full re-download 🙂 Thank you!
Edit: Luckily for me, just adding
-beta public
into my startup script fixed it back to non-experimental
Post forwarding and firewall config please
