#dedicated-servers

yes, but you can change it in the config
the ping was normal at the start, but when we got to some places of the map it just went up to 300
is ur server decently specced?
I see
whats ur hardware
it's on linux and the computer meets the requirements
whats ur specs
is it hitting 100% on a core when you're there
theres a difference between meeting the min specs and having hardware that can comfortably handle it
are you running on an ssd or hdd?
it's not me that is running the server so i cannot tell you rn, but i am almost 100% sure that it can handle it
well it should be a hardware related issue though
not much we can do if u dont know the specs
If you are running the wolveix image there should be options like these to choose from
it could be a dedicated server then thats a game problem, but it could also be that ur mates running it on their 2008 laptop then the problems more obvious
he said that it has like 50% usage on CPU, the computer is not that old and got 16 gb ram
and not on an ssd
I assume either cpu, ram capacity (satisfactory draws 8GB on average in my save), or your storage medias transfer speeds (if the server is using a slow hdd)
well single core performance matters
for satisfactory
so if the cpu isnt good single core then ur gonna have problems
also if you mean by that, that the server is running on an hdd thats surely another cause of the high ping
so it gotta run on an ssd then?
hdds have terrible random reads
well it will definitely improve load speeds Ill tell you that
well yeah that i know
but they are pretty fast anyway
like it takes 15 secs to get in game
You guys probably read the question a million times already, but is there a fix for the "Failed to Connect to the Server API" thingy?.. (with remote IP address, with local IP it works)
I found millions of reddit post suggesting the same things... i forwarded all ports (both 7777 TCP/UDP and the old ones even 15000 and 15777) no startup commands like multihome or anything... using the vanilly Epic Dedicated Server Launcher
It used to work with update 8 on my connection/router/ISP config
can u connect locally?
yes
Then its a router problem
try port checkers
Firewall/port forwarding issue
check that ur also forwarding UDP on ur router
Specifically 7777/tcp
or rather TCP and UDP
Make sure you're definitely running the latest version, and that you're using IPv4
Yeah, i double checked both TCP and UDP, both IPv4 and IPv6, ironically, IPv4 is not working at all, IPv6 i get the error, see the ping and session name, but cant connect
portchecktool dot com
how do i force ipv4?
enter the 7777 port there and check if its open
@wary mirage I assume you're not testing the remote IP yourself, right? You're getting someone else to test it?
As remote connections from within your own network will either be problematic, or won't work at all
Im testing it myself, i can ask a friend later, i just assumed it SHOULD work with remote ip
Nope. While it varies by setup, it's generally best to assume specifically for Satisfactory that connections to your external IP from within your network, will not work
Wolveix, amazing work on the docker image btw, its working flawlessly on my server ๐
Thanks for the love! Glad to hear it ๐
Someone knows why the client sometimes doesn't destroy buildings, when only one player is on the server?
Like certain parts just stay there
Known issue
Ah good to know
its the same when you paint buildings too fast, seems to have to do something with breaking/painting too fast consecutively
Dunno if it's known, but a server restart seems to fix it
Yep! ๐
saving the world and loading the save again fixes it
Perfect ^^
Just checking in, did the windows server bug get addressed (when disconnecting you cannot reconnect without restarting server)?
Sadly not
k ty.
that one's windows specific?
the server broke when 4 of us were in, 3 got dropped, but i stayed on server. tried to restart but cannot join anymore, the server is running tho, just cannot be joined. anyone seen this before,
we havent changed anything it happened for no reason
stop it for a few min, then start it again
well, something's on that port
Ive got the server up and running but when I give my IP to a friend it keeps giving an error.. any ideas?
can you confirm port's forwarded
2024.09.14-19.28.17:249][478]LogNet: NotifyAcceptingConnection accepted from: XXXXXX
The XXX's are my IP
@topaz scarab
Yeah, it doesn't matter
you need to port forward your server on port 7777 and give them your public ip, check if it was port forwarded properly with an online port checker.
Glad to hear it man! Enjoy!!
What is port 7777 lmao Im a bot
their website?
thats the port satisfactory is running on
we may have had a few drinks b4 we got back home and we did a shot 4 u
Fuuuuck yeah!
are you hosting the server yourself, in your own home network?
yes correct off my own pc
then first of you'll need to head to your router and port forward the port 7777 for the device your server is running on
Ill send you some screenshots one second
ok bet thank you
@crude tiger you need ports 7777/tcp and 7777/udp
Same port, but two different protocols
explain it like im a 7 year old
first of what's the manufacturer of your router/modem
I honestly have no clue, at&t runs it
buy wolv all the beers and weed or what ever he needs awesome dude
so I noticed that there is a 30-120 second delay after clicking join in the title screen where the button acts like it it doesn't do anything before it suddenly starts connecting me to the server...
DarkLotus also cool dude
did semeoe have session id i want play with semeone
192.168.1.1 <-- this is the ip most routers run on
try entering this into the browser and see what comes up
yeah thats the same orientation my IP is
or it may be better if you can go check real quick, then it'd be easier for me to help you
sometimes it takes another set of eyes overlooking the basic stuff
just check your router for a manufacturers name or even better see if a website to access your routers settings is on the routers case
guys my server implodes when i try to open a coal generator

can anyone smarter than me point me in a direction
Likely a game bug I'm afraid
wolv we be drinking with u if thats ur thing ๐
Love to see it my friend ๐ Enjoy!
Ruckus
Tried different port, cannot join, but i can connect on localhost
๐ฆ
no idea what could have happened, didnt touch anything, it just stopped working
192.168.30.1 this is the address you should type into your browser
see if your router settings come up
Did your external IP change?
just get this
Probably easier to check for the gateway through your OS's network adapter
But it is probably 192.168.1.1
he checked before already
Apologies, only half following ๐
yeah nothing, keepos coming back cant be reached.. didnt know I needed a computer engineering degree to run a satisfactory dedi lmaooo
You don't, but you need to understand the basics of networking ๐
yea it'd be really simple if I knew how to get you into the routers settings
I do environmental consulting so dont really code or anything hahaha

@crude tiger Google "How to find IP gateway in Windows"
I would send the link here, but it'll get removed ๐
ah didn't think of that
Oh man, are other people experiencing CPU spikes and the server tick dropping drastically? We're running a server with 4 players, server should be perfectly fine in terms of specs. ๐ฆ
What CPU is it? ๐
okay found it
look for primary dns suffix
then copy paste that uinto google?
Yep
ive got two different ones
AMD EPYC 7R13, got 4 vCPU's
Why? ๐ฎ
which are?
that worked for me
IPv4 DNS Servers
Single core performance is the most critical thing, but oviously that's a fine CPU ๐
Got two listed
Yeah, pretty good single core on that one
Yeah, but he needs to go into his router and port forward, which he needs his gateway for. What use is the DNS suffix? ๐
But having some real issues from time to time, the game becomes unplayable until we restart it or something.
Or it might fix itself at some point
That's very unusual, have you allocated enough RAM etc.?
Assuming so, but just checking the bases
8gb available
the dns suffix got me into the routers settings ๐
According to free -m it's using 5,5gb
2gb cached
Perhaps i should give 16gb or something a go
Yeah, I would
Without asset streaming enabled, I wouldn't personally allocate less than 12GB
That's not to say it's your issue, but it's worth a shot
Alright, lemme try to change the instance
my bad I was wrong look for ipv4 default gateway
i'm a vcpu hater and i have to say that's probably just normal given you're sharing the single core perf with everyone else
paste that one into the browser
It's a compute optimized server, so im pretty sure i got the core for myself at the moment
Or atleast, i think so
Ok itโs actually an ARRIS router
oops
and then resend it with the ip blurred, ill pretend to not have seen anything xD
are you in the routers settings already or do you need login info?
https://www.reddit.com/r/SatisfactoryGame/comments/1cke173/game_crashing_when_deleting_blueprint_from_the/
figured it out, thanks reddit thread from 4 months ago
need login info
TL;DR blueprints suck ass, dont use
is this possible that my dedicated server crashes when saving a blueprint because I have . in the name? "Dupex Corp."
should be:
USER: admin / cusadmin
PASSWORD: password
blueprints in general are causing crashes rn
best to avoid if at all possible
did it work?
But if the '.' does indeed make a difference then let us know
I think it has something to do with me being plugged into an extender.. my apt complex has some kind of rig theyve got set up in a storage room
just keep getting this
Do you have your own network router?
my ethernet plugs into a ruckus extender thing, then that goes into the ARRIS router
if its the router of your apartment complex I dont think youll be able to port forward
the owner probably has their own admin password in place
Yeah, I'd go the multiplayer route instead
damn I apprecaite you and @sturdy gust help!
Sorry im a bot
no worries! I also had a lot of questions when I started out lol ๐
you ill need to bridge your extender to your arris router
so first bridge it
second you ill take a look to your arris router if you can do a NAT rules or port foward. should be arround the firewall configuration
they're on public wifi essentially it sounds like
sounds like he doesn't own the router, so I wouldn't go around port forwarding, even if the owner didnt set an admin password
yeah I dont they got some shitter ARRIS one in here, prehistoric looking
If you get a vpn with port forwarding you can port forward thru it
Ull have to buy a vpn
but it could work
airvpn lets u open 5 ports per acct
Or if the routers in ur room just reset it
woman lover the working server wolv ty bud
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ

what am i looking at
all good but thanks for the help
Im getting a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error trying to open their website ๐
I gotchu ๐
works on my end
.org?
yep
yea
the ips 5.196.64.52 if u wana look at it thru that
at least thats my IP for it, idk if thats a cloudflare edge server or what
I wonder if we could convince CSS to program the "CONTINUE" button to connect and join you to the last dedicated server you were on.
What is my server doing?

anyone recomend a website for starting a server?
wdym? you want to rent or spin up your own?
sorry rent me and my friends want to play
For simply, pay and play. Nitrado. Never had issues with it
Select the game, its recommends a server size, pay and wait 5 mins and then its live
sweet ill check them out
Hello,
I ran a dedicated server but only one friend with epic account managed to add it, another friend who bought it on steam can't add the server, the server manager doesn't react after adding it with the same address. It doesn't freeze or anything, but just nothing happens really.
anyone has any idea if we are doing something wrong?
are you running the server through Epic ?
No, my own server with a docker-container, something like this:
services:
satisfactory-server:
container_name: 'satisfactory'
hostname: 'satisfactory'
image: 'wolveix/satisfactory-server:v1.8.1'
...
@sturdy gust ^ take a look at this might be better for you to answer. I havent dealt with Docker server hosting
Yeah that'll be the latest version regardless (unless you set SKIPUPDATE=true). Someone else mentioned a similar issue (unrelated to Docker)
Oh, have you linked your account?
Actually, that shouldn't matter
Yo! My buddy is hosting a server on docker and we cant get the blueprints to save... Any1 got any similar issues?
It works for someone with Epic, but with Steam not. Ok maybe it might not be related to Satisfactory issue, but rather he can't reach the server entirely. Don't worry about me for know, i will ask again otherwise
Thanks! ๐
Unrelated to Docker, seems to be a lot of issues with blueprints at the minute ๐ฆ
Aw man ._. thx anyway ๐
anyone having stuttering issues? it only happens when i move.
there are some very odd issues with blue prints for everyone that I have seen
you running a dedi server ?
since your other save is fine my guess is the save is corrupt. what does the server console look like ?
Iโm not, itโs a friends server. Should I ask him to rollback to an earlier save?
Hi, I'm on a dedicated server and as soon as I have my station with 4 loading platforms, I connect them and they fill up very well. But when I connect the last platform to my rail network, the stations no longer want to fill up.......
yea, or start a whole new one and see if it still exists
this is a train issue ?
not sure if thats a question for here
if u can load that in singleplayer and it does work then make a bug report
but id presume thats a train probkemn
or its normal idk
LogHttpListener: HttListener stopping listening on Port 7777
bet people aren't shutting their servers down correctly before restarting
context: after sending sigint
unrelated to whatever you guys are talking about btw
wouldnt surprise me
I'm having lagg issues... Well mine is fine but the wife laggs a lot and we have the exact same computers. Only difference, I'm connected as admin and she's client
are you hosting on one of those computer or some where differnt ?
Different computer(my server computer)
is foundation desync on rejoin a known issue?
Any reccomendations on a good host server service?
I dont have a home computer that can run as a server and I wasnt sure how renting one works
Do they have to download the server exe or do I have access to that?
When renting, you just have to configure
Those anyone know how to fix this issue?
Just wanted to check my sanity, Just started up my self hosted dedicated server that was running before 1.0, I can see activity on port 7777, but no activity on ports 15000 or 15777. They didn't change the ports with 1.0, did they?
They did change them to only use 7777 by default.
777 only, both tcp and udp
both TCP and UDP?
run the provided shell script
is the server resources fine? Sorry had to deal with children
yea, you just configure the settings.
Great, now i am more confused. I set my firewall to TCP/UDP for 7777 and yet tcpdump shows no activity on 7777 tcp
Linux minecraft-server 6.5.0-1027-oracle #27~22.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Sat Jul 20 13:14:31 UTC 2024 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux I have the FEX emulator running
prob want to check with fex then
also performance will prob be shit, but definitely do tell us how that goes
i think someone had a docker container for running satisfactory dedi on arm
thank you will try
ARM is kinda weird. I would honestly just put it on dedicated hardware.
That works the best. besides the Blueprintdesigner
I am only using an arm server because it's free
what cpu is reqired to host a server with like 5 people
we have enough ram but its still lagging and i think its a cpu problem
yes for 1.0 they change to the port to 7777 for TCP and UDP
how many players are on your server and how far in are you?
I've noticed that on dedicated monsters cause insane lag both they lag and players lag when combat is going on
10 slot serrver or 10 active players?
10 slot, 3 active
we have 5 players and lagging at 2 lol
what's the cpu
ok
4 dedicated cores
amd epyc-milan 2.4ghz
16 gb of ram but we are only using like 8 of it
Anyone got a server i can join?
should be plenty tbh
Got a question if anyone has any answers. If need be I can open a ticket. Friend is trying to host a server on a mini PC and it's running fine. He connects no problem being on the same network. I, on the other hand, cannot connect or even see anything about his server. I typed the server address in correctly and it pulls up a server but it's not named and is offline even though he can join and leave the very much online server at any point. What could we be doing wrong and what would be a fix?
tell him to read the wiki and forward his ports correctly
Is it a port forwarding issue?
Yes
sounds like it
yes
He's on the wiki now trying to find the issue
He needs to port forward 7777/udp and 7777/tcp
I'm not sure what he's got going on but after going through the wiki steps it's still not showing for me
Would it need a restart?
He is
Besides portforwarding, he'll also need to make sure he sets up his firewall to allow inbound connections via those ports.
Port forward on router and ensure firewall settings
is it Linux or Windows ?
if Windows it's better to use the provided script to setup port
Windows
A bit new to this, mind breaking that one down a bit more for us?
use the provided powershell script to set up firewall port opening
instead of manually editing the firewall rules
He did that already actually
if already manually edited it it's better delete them then add with script
ok
then need good forwarding and sending you correct port and public address
As far as I know everything he's sent me is accurate for joining the server
Going to see if it's something bugging with the Internet provider itself
Port forward is showing good on Internet provider side
go to the ip:port for the server in ur browser
also dyk the specs of that server, i dont see them listed on the website, only how many players can join
what happens
gotta explicitly put https:// in the addr bar
Did this and got site can't be reached
Gotcha
tho lemme check other browsers
Yup ur right, gotta do that in Chrome
yeah if you don't, chrome will say "This page isn't working", and firefox says "connection reset"
whatever the slot says, thats how many
so assume any chromium browser is the same
didn't some other guy have this issue earlier
Route_handler_not_found error message
@sturdy gust small update on the CPU spikes i had, the memory upgrade seemed to fix it! Thanks for the suggestion ๐
details pls, what ram speeds
Just more ram haha
Got a pretty decent CPU, but had pretty sever lag spikes and CPU core spiking to 100%
Went from 8gb of ram to 16gb
We're not talking about server cost ๐
wait you're on a vps
He just verified the port is open
Still nothing on my end
Well if u can access that on ur browser then u can get to the server
U test it with the public IP
If he can connect locally then obv he doesnt need to test that
At that point just grab an old fx rig or similar second hand this game doesn't take much to host
whats the best for remote mangement of a linux sever i am using teamviewer to remote to it atm
ssh
is there any point to these new sneezy creatures?
dunno, can i ssh into it
I run the satisfactory server with LinuxGSM via SSH
or at least, I administer it via SSH
Lol I know the feeling... But yeah, server resources are fine, below 30% usage... But yeah. We are connected using LAN IP, I don't have a issue but she does... I switched hers to public IP and no change... Thinking we might need to run updates on her system
Going to restart gateway to see if it force opens the ports. Maybe they weren't open even tho they were showing it
Do be sure your friend is pointing the port forward rules at the internal server ip and not their own, router software is not always the most useful
_s/useful/user friendly
True
oh cool so ssh gives me a remote terminal
yup thats literally what its made for
Restarted everything but still can't connect
id bet that they havent port forwarded udp, get them to check that
cool now to work out the command for Htop lol
it's htop
if u can access the ipp from ur browser then tcp is available
hit their server with that nmap line
p sure nmap has a windows binary
ok this may be a dumb question but: how do I start this server again? It doesnt look like it is offline but the game is saying it is:
ctrl c, up arrow, enter
Port forwarding both according to his gateway app
i am running my server as a service so cant see the log -log didnt seem to work
it spits out the log to a file
control c just killed the command prompt lol
how did u initially start it?
I just click on it in steam
so my wife is hosting a server through the epic thing and everytime she has the server up, and closes her game, it glitches the server out and crashes it. Any idea what is causing this?
like the dedicated server thing
then just run that again
It's a well-known bug if you host the server on the same machine you play on
did they by chance change the appid for the dedicated server for 1.0?
Nope
When all players sign out does the server die? Like I thought the point of a dedicated server is that friends can log on/off even when I'm not around
oh joy, I hope they fix it soon. Is there anything we can do on our end to fix it?
It's a well-known bug if you host the server on the same machine you play on
๐
yo that's actually funny
Not to be confused with autopause
The IP Adress will be a local one. Either you use a VPN to connect to your friends home network or you should get a dedicated server hosted in the cloud.
If the server is completely taken offline when the host leaves, that's the bug
what if my server is up and my buddy connects plays some and disconnects but the whole time I'm not connected, will it crash too?
well you gotta check the logs to be honest
no they just need to port forward on their router
u dont need a vpn
Nope
That is a security risk.
absolute tons of ppl do that, it is perfectly normal
sure, doesnt stop the normal person from doing it
ok so this is a bug that happened starting in 1.0? U8? Last I played was U7 and I didn't think this happened with dedicated servers
1.0
Port forwarding is showing. He's got it set for both TCP and udp and still can't connect
It doesn't happen if the dedicated server is actually on another machine
Like they're supposed to be ๐
honestly, I dont do that, because it is a security risk to your own homenetwork.
can I run it on a VM?
Barely honestly
bro no ones gonna attack u unless ur a diplomat or something
u aint got nation state hackers hunting u
make him take a screenshot if you can
itll be fine for 99.9% of ppl
port forwarding really isn't that dangerous my guy
Of which part exactly
it's all bots otherwise
the port forward setting
U think a bots gonna do a full port range scan on ur network?
Oh yeah, totally
that's what bots do
If ur that worried then change the port to a nonstandard one
As someone who actively looks through malicious web traffic on a daily basis for work, absolutely
and then what are they going to do with that information?
Well one of our coworkers router got hacked. Yeah I am a little bit paranoid when it comes to that. Seen DDoS attacks in the middle of the night, that I had to deflect because it inflicted our infrastructure.
well ddos attacks are a different matter altogether
So is a dos
if ur part of a large business then sure
you can ddos without scanning for an open port
No, the entire IPv4 space gets frequently mass scanned man
It's a small space and very quick to scan
Yeah, all those ssh spam login requests. gotta set your ssh keys and turn off password login.
My job is in my Discord bio ๐ Yeah, actively working on improving the state of the internet, so very well versed in it ๐
Hello friends,
Did they change the path or name of the serversettings.ini? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I have created a world and close using the 'quit' command in console, as the wiki states
I invited friend to the server so he can share a bit better what the issue is
Also my router I can whitelist what IP can connect via port forward... ๐คท
Nope, same path
But if you want to make ini file changes, do it via launch params
Hello im Mahself99 friend
my job is also in my discord bio
๐
I should rename myself to RTFM
I have a somewhat funny quip in my discord status
So port is open on my lan but not to the world
I popped them all @topaz scarab
oh the joke is that there is no job ๐๏ธ
sadge
๐น
kekw
bubble bee bubble bomb bubble cat bee bomb bubble cat bubble bee bomb bubble
tf
This looks like a turtle wearing a lampshade from a distance
hit edit on that would you
like 100.x.x.x
10
So they don't recommend editing the ini file any longer to make changes? Not that that ini has even generated itself
when i look up what is my ip address i get 68.
ok thats fine
server on its own no one in game
make sure u give that 68 IP to mahself
if the ip started with 100 then it would be a CGNAT'd IP
which isnt good for port forwarding
ok if I did want to switch to running the server on a dedicated machine (since I only have one computer) what kinda thing do I need to buy that is cheap yet still good for this game?
I've played for years dedicated on my own machine lol
u can rent from a hosting company monthly
I'm thinking renting a community servers for satisfactory if anyone wants to join
yeah you probably want auto pause on
Just wait for the fix ๐
but theres tonnes of hardware that will work for this if u want to own the machine
oh its a bug not a feature?
heheh
lmfao
Thanks guys
I mean I host valheim, terraria, dsp, minecraft, satisfactory, etc. when I play with friends and just rotate when we play different games lol but maybe it is about time I got a dedicated box for it
Thank you!
Have fun
cmon bro I asked u if you could access the site
Bro just didnt test what I asked him to
my dedicated is just so the machines keep filling up storage and tickets
u could have saved the heartbreak if u did
i play on me main pc and move the save over when not in game
Now is that the only way to get others on here too?
give them that IP yes
not the 10 one but the 68 one
or whatever the number was
Yes
so the system requirements changed for how much ram but is my i5 6300u still garbage
yeah most likely
So he was used to old Minecraft hosting where you don't have to give personal IP
update it then
also you're on a vps, which are fucky esp when oversubscribed
wait are you talking about your game client
? Since when did u not have to do that? Is this a logmein hamachi thing or smth?
logmein hamachi goated btw
ride or die for it
He just gave the 10. Server IP and it would work so ๐คทโโ๏ธ
All good tho it's working now and that's what matters lol
tell the whole world im special
Lmao
interesting
so going headless linux would be better?
define 'better'
Some ppl rather it yeah
there may be more performance per pound there, idk if theres anything quantitative for that
i use lubuntu uses about 500mb setting in the desktop
what, ram?
yeah ram
well that means more performance for the server then
depending if the drivers on the server can make full use of the hardware
idk theres dozens of variables
i have a 5900x box from OVH + i picked up an intel 12700k bundle for my homelab box
i use the 5900x for hosting all my games no problems
if they were out at the time; i'd prob do an x3d chip/box for the extra cache
the game only need cpu and ram, there is not really "drivers" for that, except for scheduling and power management, both which linux is better at than windows
yeah but sometimes games are built differently for linux vs windows
definitely id say linux is stereotypically more performant but thats not a universal truth
sometimes you need to download more ram though ๐
that would be a building bug as for server load (no graphic api stuff)
in that my laptop shits out fire
sure, but its still worth noting

Hello everyone. I got help earlier today and was able to get a dedicated server set up on my local PC. Friends from outside my network can join the server but my wife who is on the same network cannot join. When entering both my public and private IP it just says "this server appears to be offline" Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for fixing this?
Also having this issue. My friends can connect just fine to their server but I can't connect. I even tried port forwarding and still no luck. I just tried bypassing my router and connecting directly to the modem and seems to have the same issue. I called the ISP and they do not block ports. I can ping the ip just fine.
Host of server needs to port forward
Even though everyone else can connect just fine?
Who is everyone else? Same network?
whos idea was it to make the server auto-restart at 8pm?
No, different parts of the country.
Is there a way to configure when my server restarts? It is doing it every night at 8pm, I know I can scale it from every 24 hours, but I like every 24 hours, just need it to not be 8pm
I have port forwarded.
it's crazy because I manually restarted my server an hour ago, yet it still restarts at 8pm lol
I found the issue!
get ur wife to go to https:// ip:port in the browser
People outside the network can connect. Another player who is on the same network cannot connect. I (on the pc that is hosting the server) can connect.
does it work?
like 45 minutes after I first spun up my server "This server will restart in 60 minutes"
The autorestart timer is not a timer but a time of day
so 24 is midnight
it restarts at the same time every day
its poorly labelled
that makes sense, you'd think they would have hired someone that understands time.
ok, how do I make it do it at midnight?
put it to 24 i believe
set it to 4am probably
or 0
it is at 24. Ok thats so weird. Military time but also not my time zone ๐
if 24 = 8, 8+4 = 4?
if I do my public IP it says "connection refused" if I do my private ip it says "failed: took to long to connect"
check the logs in the console
u do https? thats important
do tell!
yup that tracks
Yes!
did u include the port when u put it in?
also get ur friend who can connect to try it
u should get a json response
hey yall ive set up my dedicated server and ive portforwarded on my fortigate but when i put the domain name into the server manager it just says its not up or active yet its running on the vm
but after a invalid cert error
do u have a domain configured?
Try the IP
double check the port forwarding
my tarkov server and palworld are fine but satis is the only one that kicks me back
7777 tcp/udp
yep tcp and udp i also tried haveing 15000 up as well and that didnt work either
Sorta fixed it. So my friend had his server blocking any connections outside North America and Europe. For whatever reason, despite being in the US without a VPN my IP address is asia pacific region. Assigned to the Australia. I'm located in the midwest lol. But now I can see the server name and can connect.
Yes port was included. None of the other guys are on right now but I did it from my PC and got this:
{
"errorCode": "errors.com.epicgames.httpserver.route_handler_not_found",
"errorMessage": ""
}
None of us are playing on epic so that is weird
thats correcty
thats what u wanna see
if u see that then the connection is established
Hmm none of the standard docker ways of setting timezone work :\
i believe its utc for a reason
ur just gonna have to deal w it
I mean thats one way to look at it, but this is a selfhosted locally ran dedicated server, this is something that I should be able to do. I fail to see a logical reason why it would be forced
Perhaps @sturdy gust knows?
one theory for why its like that is for ppl looking at logs who arent in ur timezone
There is this nearly 2 year old Issue, but it seems the TZ environment variable is being ignored https://github.com/wolveix/satisfactory-server/issues/158
utc means its uniform everywhere and css knows what time stuff happened when they get sent logs
๐
Good Night... I install dedicated server, version 1.0 , but It's not working. How to use it?
Were gonna need so much more info than that dude.
- Is the system Windows or Linux?
- Is the system rented from a hosting company or is it a physical machine in your house?
- What way did you install the server? (SteamCMD, Steam launcher, Epic launcher, etc.)
- How does it "not work"? Does the server not start? Does it start, but you can't load a save? U can join but other ppl cant?
Theres a couple things we are gonna need to know before we help u
Pete you code ?
Question, for anyone who else codes, Iโm going to see if I can create a live world map plugin for satisfactory, I got one other person whoโs going to work on it with me if you or anyone wanted to try to collaborate
Ooh nice
Evening everyone, qq - What does Satisfactory server browser use to look up ips? I'm assuming it's just a ping of some kind but when tracking through wireshark I can't see anything
What tech stack u using?
And where does this "plugin" exist? Is this a game mod? Or is it a discord bot? or something else
I'm also trying to setup a dedicated server. I have it running on my personal computer (Windows 10) and I can join when I connect via ''localhost'' in server manager. I've just oppened Port 7777 in TCP and UDP. I haven't port forwarded in my router since I don't have access to the option, only my landlord can access it. But since I want to play with only my roommate wich would be local I've never had to port forward in any other dedicated server before. But my roommate still can't connect to the server, I've tried my IPV4 address, my public adress, ''localhost'' and he still can't see it in server manager or direct connect. Do you have any clue what I'm doing wrong? (P.S. : I've also gave access to private and public connections for the server on my firewall settings.)
tell ur roommate to go to https:// <ip>:port in his browser (no space or <>). Tell us exactly what he sees
Easiest way could be just to make a tunnel into your pc with hamachi or something
just stop @frail grail
its his local network he doesnt need that
if its a local network, you don't need junk like hamachi
Which ip should he put? His personal IPV4 or mine?
Holy shit
your ip, the ip of the server
The IP of the person running the server
EVERY single time the dedicated server goes throguh a restart, the server doesn't come back up
Is there a bug report forum
You should see something like this
its probably not a bug, but an issue with your server configuration @stoic stream
You might have to pass through a certificate error first
What issue, there is almost nothing you can set
however your server is configured to start I imagine.
You mention ur dedi restarting, do u have the game configured to launch when the server starts?
Like with a service or something?
It wont just start on its own
hey guys im having this issue, not sure if anyone knows. made a dedicated server with my friend yesterday and try to log in tonight and running into this? says online in hub but not in game
Project file not found: /server/FactoryGame/FactoryGame.uproject
sh: 1: xdg-user-dir: not found
have tried restarting and what not
Regardless if it's run as a service, or through the command prompt, it still A) Crashes. The crash happens if someone exits, and then clicks the server again in the server manager.
THe restart I am tlaking about is the server restarting itself. The restart timer you set in the settings.
Thats a known bug
I assume ur running this on ur PC or someone in ur server is running this server off their PC?
Having issues trying to get a friend to connect to the server.
- Used steamcmd to set up server on a seperate PC in my house
- Firewall has been added (7777 TCP and UDP)
- Myself and my roomate are able to connect without issue. (Im on Epic hes on Steam)
- Added fowarding UDP ports for 15777, 15000 and 7777. TCP ports 7777
- Fried trying to connect is using the steam client
- I also added his IP to the port to potentially help resolve this issue.
Im most likely doing this wrong but any help would be appreciated. Thanks all
- Only need 7777 for port forwarding (tcp and udp)
must be both
otherwise it wont wok
15k and 15777 were removed this patch
I've tried on his PC and mine, and nomatter what IP I use with port 7777 it says this site can't be reach.
Do u know his IP?
Ty sir ๐ซก
why are u trying different IPs?
np
you guys speaking of portfowarding rules?
Huh, Do i copy blueprint into dedicated server?
Because I have no idea wich one tu use hahaha and since the IPV4 didn't work, I've tried my public ip too
I can't access %local% with hosted webserver, sadly
Well, I am running it off an actual PowerEdge server up in a VM. Last time I did this, it was buggy but worked and never crashed. I guess this is a new bug or something, don't understand how after working on the game for months to release 1.0
type ipconfig in a cmd/terminal of the host machine
U can get the IP for the server from there
Yeah wich would be my IPV4 right?
itll most likely be 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x
If u run it on ur pc itll be ur local IP yes
Remind me, is the server hosted on ur pc?
U can also see it in windows settings
Yes it is!
Okay then yes run that command or check ur internet settings
if you guys are in local you need to use the 192.168.0.X ip you guys have
hey pete you seem knowledgeable.. any idea why im running into this with a server hosting company? is it a hosting issue do you think? Project file not found: /server/FactoryGame/FactoryGame.uproject
sh: 1: xdg-user-dir: not found
your default gateway is basicaly the ip of your modem interface
something like this
well you guys use this ip in local
but be sure your firewall is of or have the proper rule to let it thru
windows and linux have both there own firewall limiting trafic
u ask if its a hosting issue, is ur host an actual hosting company?
its shockbyte beats me my friend did it
that means that PC can connect to the server
your error say basicaly the server cant be find
Then he should be abble to see the server if he adds it using this IP in server manager right?
If its a hosting co then you should make a ticket to that co
Its not acceptable to rent a gameserver and have it not start
shockbyte already have proper setup so you guys should be able to connect to the server ip
Yes add that IP in the form ip:port
it shows online on their hub and this is what we see
since its not local ip
issue is that when you create a ticket with them they basically just tell you "were too busy" LOL
lookup ethera hosting...
i know the founder and they are actualy prety humain
i help founding the service too
wich kind of game you guys wanna host
uh ppl use bisect, nitrado, some others as well
I dont think nitrado is great tho
Theres like dozens of them out there
nitrado is not great
just shop around
every service who limit you by player is just dumb
they do that?
yea they do...
thats dumb
lol thats p insane
you pay for ram storage and cpu no player count...
Idk any other co that does that
that is nuts
not big company but still
will just have to try a dif host ty guys
yeah sorry it worked out that way man
wich game you guys wanna host?
I have no idea what I've done wrong... But now it works ๐ Even thought I've already tried writing this exact ip adress. Thanks for you time! ๐
i actualy have my dedicated at home and one at US in a friend place so if you need something to save ya...
It happens bro, happy playing
@gilded moat ?
I started getting consistent crashes about half an hour ago. I am running steamcmd on linux bare metal. I've been playing fine since monday and it just crashed and will crash as soon as a player joins now
no, I restarted the system and the server. I have the 2.0 blueprint machine and have built a few but have not made a new blueprint since last night
blueprints are pretty unstable rn from what ive heard
might wanna avoid them for the time being
did they push another update since wednesday?
About an hour ago..would that be the default auto-restart time?
the restart timer in the server settings is actually the restart time in UTC
no, the restart is set for like 5:30 AM EST
wait, what??
So if u set the restart timer for 24H thats actually midnight UTC
ikr
its incredibly poorly labelled (or just a straight up bug idk)
Hence ur 530A est
I'm just thinking those two factors combined, the auto-restart and blueprint-causing-crash-after-restart thing..
I'd still explore that route to see if it ends up being the cause.
I mean I set it to that time and it was restarting at that time. (I was up all night playing the other day) but it's restarted fine every day and I've manually restarted it several times
I'll delete the blueprint machine and see if that changes anything
I have an issue on my server that is driving me nuts
sup
there is a truck that is just fully clipped
show up on map
i can see it
but cannot interact with it and it has no collision
use scim and remove it
boooooo
hmmm, downloaded the save to my local machine and it crashed there too, must be an actual game issue
yup could very well be
Anyone figure out the stutter?
@quaint grove Bad player data can cause crashes like that as well, you may have to check your logs for a general idea.
i'm having a problem where specifically when i'm moving, my ping to the server skyrockets, i dont understand why as my server is in my house and i have good internet
my ping to the server is about 20 when i'm standing around and around 200-400 when i'm moving
is ur server decent specs?
yeah, it has more than enough ram, and a good cpu
it's only using about 20-26% of the cpu also
on windows, wheres the Game.ini files?
C:\Users\ insert windows username\AppData\Local\FactoryGame\Saved\Config\Windows
on mine, when i look in the "..\Saved" folder it just has SavedGames
I've experienced the same issue. Could you share if you find any solution?
have you tried the wiki
yea
and you're saying it's not the ones listed there
it seems like there's not a Game.ini file anymore.
oh that one, yeah the game doesn't create it afaik
but where the other ini files are, that's in the wiki
There is a GameUserSettings.ini file that is under the install folder
So my FactoryServer.exe sits in C:\GameServers\SatisfactoryServer
editing player count or something?
C:\GameServers\SatisfactoryServer\FactoryGame\Saved\Config\WindowsServer
so in this folder above there is a GameUserSettings.ini
the game.ini folder should be there
Imma try to add the following lines into the GameUserSettings.ini
[/Script/Engine.GameSession]
MaxPlayers=8
have you already launched the server before? it might be created after you launch it
I only have Engine.ini and GameUserSettings.ini in that folder
oh yea, i have had a few of us playing in it for like over 24 hours
that's odd then idk whats going on
im using nssm.exe to create a service for it....i don't think I've shut it down since we've create the game tho
did you not see the part where it says to add/create it if it doesn't exist
Server goes offline when admin leaves game, is this normal ? Is there a fix ?
Ok, it seems like this was the issue. I killed the other player's offline avatar and the crashes stop. How do I avoid this in the future?
known issue, host on another machine if you can
This is a server setting, also.
by filing a bug report and hope they fix it
doubt he meant pause when he said "goes offline"
Yeah it just kicks everyone out and can't join back in
well.....
If it's a known issue, is it like a new issue or been this way forever ?
So the game doesn't create a Game.ini file
But you can add it into [Install Directory]\FactoryGame\Saved\Config\WindowsServer
and then add
[/Script/Engine.GameSession]
MaxPlayers=8
You cannot just add it into GameUserSettings.ini
Is there a command to kick someone / everyone?
Just shut the server down
Valid
I just had a buddy in my server, and in Windows, shut down the server. He glitched for about 30seconds, couldn't place stuff then it kicked him.
Known issue, should hopefully be patched soon, workaround is (afaik) join with a non-admin acct
So far, setting the network quality for both the server and all players has improved the situation somewhat, but it seems to be that any interaction with the fauna is what really nukes the server performance. Right now, it goes mostly unresolved for us, despite being at an early stage and only three of us at most.
@quaint grove Unfortunately, if you do not know who it's trial and error as far as I know even the log doesn't specify who for the ones I had. Satisfactory calc makes it simpler to delete that player's data if you get locked out. Also good for duplicated players
Yep, I've noticed that for the first time after I encountered a group of spitters. Weird, it was alright all day long and since that moment I can't leave my base, explore and expand without these nasty lags.
Is there a way to run a dedicated with individually progress for the players?
yes, sorry terrible wording
ok, thanks
anyone been successful getting the mods to work on 1.0 dedicated server?
anyone have any ideas as to what's happening? also found out that having a tractor in the world causes this to happen
My anti-virus was quarantining files...
Anyone ever had a corrupted blueprint on their server?
I have a constructor manifold with a single corrupted constructor on it. If I attempt to delete any belt connected to it, the server hard crashes.
I cannot get rid of them now, and I've traced to crashes to that one constructor on that one blueprint, all others work fine.
I don't even know how to access the file location.
Ohhh that lmao
can load in the map
I'll give it a shot ty
Got a dedicated shockbyte server. I can join through the server manager just fine but when friends add server in the manager it says "server offline" name pending - Not authenticated. I can load in just fine so I know the server is running. It was off of our current save. Any tips im missing?
get them to try https:// ip:port in their browser (no space)
Question im on my dedicated with my GF is it normal for conveyors to pause and go when items come into contact with splitters or mergers and also for it to seem abit laggy?
if they can reach the server they will see a cert error and a json response
{"errorCode": "errors.com.epicgames.httpserver.route_handler_not_found", "errorMessage": ""} is what they got
good
that means ur reaching the server
make sure ur trying to connect thru the server manager
with connection format ip:port
my server log shows a ton of warnings...
Hello i wanna ask, can i run a server on 4Gig ram?
My server wont start. its giving the error pop up box and says "the app was unable to start correctly" anyone know whats wrong?
is this thru steam?
this is how they are currently inputing it and getting a server offline error
how many player 8 gig can handle?
for now just 2 player playing
That doesnt look like the server manager to me
are you renting somewhere ?
yea shockbyte
then that is the wrong IP and port
Updating my game ill show u when I get in
how can u tell
2 players can probably be managed until like midgame
when u start automating stuff at a large scale the server wont be able to manage
@tender thicket this is how it looks for them
lemme c 2m
so with my dedi server, this appears in the logs a crap ton
[2024.09.14-21.43.56:893][793]LogNetPackageMap: Warning: FNetGUIDCache::SupportsObject: LightweightCollisionComponent /Game/FactoryGame/Map/GameLevel01/Persistent_Level.Persistent_Level:PersistentLevel.AbstractInstanceManager_2147474026.LightweightCollisionComponent_2147474008 NOT Supported.
for me, my ping is like 20-30, but my wife is getting 120-140 ping. Same home, same network. Server machine, 2 gaming computers(exact same ones) I get no lag, she gets that stutter crap a lot.
only difference, im logged in under admin pass, shes logged in as client pass...
why it is so terribly stuttery for her?
check her drivers?
because the servers says offline which means the port for UDP isnt open
Doesnt explain why he can connect
If ports werent configured properly he wouldnt be able to connect either: its a hosting company server not a local machine in his house
I get this too, no idea why. Performance seems fine, despite the spam.
maybe I missed somethign but if the server says it is offline the UDP port is what says it si offline
if someone doesnt have both ports forwarded itll show as offline yes
not necessarily only udp
can be either, both are needed
@silver orbit @tender thicket the only ports it shows are 52800 52802 52801 if that helps
Are u using 3 ports?
The old configuration?
3 ports were used pre 1.0
now only 1 is
thats just how the new server set up lol
my guess i sit is like Gportal where there give you and FTP a RCOnn and the server info
If thats your ports then your partner needs to use one of those, not 7777
Prob the 528
he used 52800
What port are u using to connect
52800 as well
so they are using the server ip:52800 in the server manager and its still not working?
correct
and ur doing the same thing but it does work
yes
your using shockbyte right ?
yes
okay, interesting
its weird though... i dont have the stutter lag, she does and we have the exact same PCs... i am updating her Firmware, as I have done my a few days ago... so seeing if this fixes her stutter
Typo in the ip >.>?
there you start the server it contains the IP and port
Hello, I've been able to create a dedicated server on my own, but my friend is unable to join. Is this a port forwarding issue or more? I've already set to 7777 but they say that the server is inauthenticated and unable to access.
7777 on udp and tcp?
yes
Is this server hosted on hw u own or a hosting co
on my own
ok, and you can connect but ur friend cant?
yes
what IP are u giving ur friend? Without telling us what it is, does it start with 192.168 or 10.?
my ping is like 400-1000. i have no idea whats going on. we didnt have this issue in early access. can someone help? when youre done helping this situation
- using xfinity and following whats under command prompt
100 different things it could be, we prob wont be able to help much unfortunately
whatsmyip(dot)com
- is a local IP, u need to google "what is my IP" and use that one
if you ping the server outside of the game does it have the same latency ?
give that one to ur friend
no
are you hostinf or company ?
hosting
are you local to the server ?
its a seperate pc but its on my network
are both hardwired ?
yeah if it wasnt a problem earlier then hardwiring (or a lack thereof) wouldnt be a problem now
well I am jellly
same
Lol
whats the hw ur running on
WIFI does all kinds of wierd things so
powerful enough?
thats also fair
its come a long way tho
it still has random shit fits
omg this worked
so hardwire still valid question
thank you very much Pete!
happy to help big dawg, happy gaming
@fleet pier Did you do a fresh install for 1.0 ?
yes
how are u running tthe dedi
i use windows gsm. thats the only variable in my mind
Steam gui or Steamcmd or Epic
