nope. that's how much is in the buffer
oh
should say somewhere on the control panel ๐
if you're having issues it's 45 water pm
8x45 = 360 water pm for 8 gens
how much does a mk1 pipe move pm max?
i guess i didn't think of calculating things before i started
it happens ๐ but it's important to do if you want smooth systems
and wit hpower you usually do
it says 300
so you see your issue?
not enough water pressure
The Coal-Powered Generator is a power generator building that generates power by burning Coal, Compacted Coal or Petroleum Coke and Water. It is the first fully automated power source the pioneer has access to and also the first power source to use a mined resource.
One Coal-Powered Generator produces...
that's the guide i looked at
these layouts from the wiki show using at least 2 input pipes for hte 3 extractors
if you just copy a layout w/o understanding it making changes can easily wreck things ๐
so i can see now
for example this is a slight modification on the middle layout
only a slight mod?
will i get mk2 and mk3 pipes eventually?
mk2 pipes yes.
but higher flow pipes require more careful layouts to avoid back flow
ok
i appreciate the help you're giving me
things tend to look so overwhelming to me, like this
no prob! btw the coal gens just look complex because its 8 groups of 8
treat the milestones as a tutorial, it's ok to make mistakes ๐
notes in a word document or excel can help? You don't have to rely on your meat brain for details
meat brain, now that's funny!
what's what recording info is for ๐ not everyone has good mental notes. Nothing wrong with using physical or electronic brain to remember things
means it has lower flow iirc but generally means the pipe isn't full full?
if i add water pumps, would that help?
oh
ok, my bed is calling me
i have to go and get some sleep, then work in the morning
sleep tight!
What program do you guys use to draft out factories
break down further details in a spread sheet if needed. Generally just bigger projects or ones that requires tons of details for architecture
I mean separate from that, like some people use like graphic tools, like I know some use after effects
oh spread sheets. the cells make up 'blocks'
drafting realistic meter by meter designs sounds like a great way to burn out
Yeah sometimes I just look at them and just think to myself that looks nice, like a blueprint before building
well once you know the groups you want to make and the numbers there's a great program for that
its called Satisfactory - bonus of that is once you're done building it, it's built
instead of building it twice in two programs
Can someone help me out with this Heavy Oil Residue problem.
I have 66.667 left over from the coke and fuel plants. I need to distribute it to the Turbo fuel plant.
The turbo fuel plant has three floors of 24 machines each, and one side floor of 4 machines with one underclocked needing 16.6667.
How do I split this? I can't over produce HOR because I'm using every drop of oil in the blue crater
I have MK2 pipes, so I can feed 20 machines with a 600 pipe, but I'm just not sure how to split everything,,,,
I mean these 2 can go into 1 pipe if you really want?
What's the issue?
How exactly would I do this with 1200m^3 of crude oil/min?
rocket fuel probably. Just go nulcear at that point.
Instead of 1000 fuel generators, just need 100 nuclear
is it this one you have issues with?
I've fed the coke and fuel plants on one pipe, and the remainder is 66.667. So I need to figure out how to split the rest between all of the floors. I'm just not sure how fluids work with plopping it in at the end. So if I pipe in a 600 pipe to 60 machines I will have a pipe of 450 coming in from the refineries and a pipe of 66.667 coming off the end of the Coke plant. Will there be any issues just pushing that 66.6 in one end and the 450 in the other end?
where is this remainder coming from?
33.333 from fuel and 33.333 from coke
clocking
ah. ok, so under clock the ones feeding those two plants and over clock the ones feeding the turbo plants?
for this section you're going to want 4 pipes, probably going ot 4 floors , you don't want to have a pipe going to multiple floors. It's possible but very annoying
Got it. Thanks, I never thought of clocking on the production side for whatever reason. Makes a ton of sense now
forehead slap moment
no sweat! use clocking everywhere to make tight dedicated groups of production - it solves problems before they come up ๐
I was just really confused for most of that where the 66 extra was coming from xD
I have three pure iron patches in my starter area. Should I dedicate just one patch to modular frames, or two?
depends how much you want to make where you're at ect.
treat the milestones like a tutorial just build and learn
I'm worried I might run out of essentials like plates since I had to tear down my original parts factory to make this factory
I'm just trying to unlock stuff tbh
1 node seems fine ๐
Gotta look at the map and synapses in your brain connect an you start seeing resource node clusters as things like computers automatically
This is my current factory. All on the right dedicated to modular frames. Not sure that to build on the left.
whatever you need for the next milestones? over flow extra parts of everything to storage
This is the setup I'm using for frames
seems solid:)
Which should I go for first?
I grabbed the power one already because I wanted to build a factory far away but then I realized the big poles need steel
pick your poison ๐ no wrong answers relaly
what would be the most resource efficient way to get rid of uranium waste. I was planning to sink the rods for now, and i am thinking if using the alt recipie for both plutonium pellets and the rods is a good idea
base recipes for plutonium rods consumes the most waste
depends a lot on what do you mean by "resource efficient" tbh
to "eat" up most waste with minimal plutoniun rod output. With base recipies it uses 200 waste/plutonium rod, i don't think there is any more efficient way with any less output of plutonium
ah, if you're only caring about plut usage, then yeah, base recipes
How much Sam do i Need besides the 4000 something i Need for the ficsonium fuel rods? I cant really Imagine what i Need it for tbh โฆ.
DMR can eat a good chunk (supporting fics, but also power shards / ionized fuel / other P5 stuff)
DMR?
dark matter residue, costs SAM to make it easily or large amounts of other resources to make if you technically want to create it without using SAM (as certain recipies are net positive on DMR)
I think Ill have about 3500 left, that Should still be enough, its Not like i want to make thousands of ai Expansion Servers per Minute..
Ye
K thanks alot, its my First playthrough so I cannot really guess how much of what i Need, for example nitrogen Gas
singularity cells are an ongoing cost to run portals and cost like 40 dmr per minute per portal, dont quote me on that ๐
for the most part you'll have way more of everything than you need. It's just endgame (post-campaign) big builds which scale things up that will run out of something
A bit for everything that uses ficsite / trigons too
The top Part of the map (Above the red) I didnt use at all, so i figured I have Plenty of Stuff left. But some of the things, e.g. Nitrogen Gas, there isnt that much left, Not because I use that much, just because there isnt that much โฆ.
But ill Build my uranium fuel rods ( everything for it i think) up in the desert, so it will be used them
Nitro Rocket fuel
that wouold give you roughly 500gw if you also use HOR and Diluted fuel
@barren lance
Oil to Heavy oil residue to Diluted fuel to nitro you can set it up in a BP with one refinery and two blenders clock it so you use 75 oil at a time and clock everything so it evens out.
or standard manifold
ignore buffers theyt are not functional just for show lol
its 144gw per 600m^3. I dont know how to get a higher output than that.
this was 300 hours of play ago so my final power output maybe wrong as its from memory
I can drop it to 140GW for a much more economical output on other inputs.
this setup makes 4800 rocket fuel a minute so whatever that translates to for energy
I like doing it in nodes as described above. this lets me trouble shoot issues and turn off sections when needed
I like that my economical version uses 500 less sulphur and 250 less coal for only a 3% loss in output
if im not going nuclear i have no need for the sulfer
yeah, it would be interesting if leached refining was more economic than pure refining, but it's not.
pure refining is just a ball ache in scale.
TALL buildings, yeah. I hate the look of refineries, but I love the output
did pure iron ingots to solid steel ingots and built really high outputs of basic components like rods and plates using steel alts, which felt really nice. I just did this along side what was originally intended as a motor factory. 1500 (or was it 1440, cant remember) steel ingots/min
I built a vertical stack of 96 refineries for processing triple pure copper node into copper powder....
how many wide? I usually like to go with 8 refineries wide because it's a simple 10-platform zoop per floor
12 per floor
it just gets unruly early game before you have the damn hoverpack, that's my main complaint about vertical factories
yeah my build would be impossible without the hoverpack
i just set up my first large scale coal power plant, this is gorgeous
Thanks. But honestly its a mess lol.
I wish you the best of luck. May the pipe gods b with u
it was hell for a time, i had an original plan and spent about 4 hours tearing it down and rebuilding it until i decided it was easier to relocate the entire thing and just run power lines
pipe gods werent with me
I never wana run pipes. I build at the water lol
guys i made a nuclear setup but it uses over 20k of sam ore what sould i do to drop this down and ficsite ingot doesnt have any side recipies so i cant not use it either
sink plutonium fuel rods instead
also I think you arent using the correct recipes if it takes that much SAM
You can sloop machines
That depends i usually only use 30 or so in any world. So if I felt like I needed to use 50 to save a lot of work......
Its better then them sitting in my cloud storage
yea i think its required for efficent nuclear
Most people would say sink the plutonium rods
because you cant use another recipe
i think that loses a lot of energy
is it worth to build 5 power augmenters or double the power output
You'd have to math it out. Because using that many sloops will cost energy too
i think it comes down to if you will feed the power augmenters
to make it 30 percent
The real question is what do you want to build. Ive never broke the 500gw of power needed. Ive generated a TW but ive never needed it
So what do you want to do
No problem ^-^
is it better to use dissolved silica or cheap silica and fine quartz recipes
"better" depends on your preferences and needs
im using it for my nuclear facility which is the like correct thing
well again, it depends on what resources you want to use for it, how you value them, if you want to optimise for power or space or resources or complexity or whatever. Just check the options you would like to use and pick one you like the most
thank you
With Dissolved Silica in particular, if you have a use for the full silica/quartzcrystal output from the process, then it's the most Raw-Quartz-efficient way to make those two products
If your required ratio of silica-to-quartzcrystal doesn't match what the Dissolved Silica chain provides, though, then other recipes might be a better fit for you
i just checked and i dont use all of the quartz crystals so its more efficent for cheap silica route
the colored pipes are cool tho
do you guys have any tips to use satisfactory modeler i always tangle the lines so much it isnt even understandable anymore
I "model" it all out in spreadsheets then use satisfactory tools to check my work.
Then I work on overclock numbers
i would recommend using snap to grid
it will look cleaner
how do i do that
click the icon on the top right go onto styles click curves and select 2d
tysm
1x Oil can geht 46GW btw
20GW at most
(assuming you can add water)
you can get more out of it you add other resources, but at that point it's no longer just single oil
Does anyone have a receipe layout for nuclear power, where all recipes are "nice numerical ratios?" where making load balancers is not too costly? and the power nuclear recipes are better than just using pure non-alternate recipes?
imo alts for uranium are better than regular ones
u get more uranium rods from ore in the end
i can upload images in a second
as of whole concrete layout i dont have any
however u can design them by small units that use 300 uranium ore given max output of miners in the end game
or u can go by all uranium on map
and pick a place thats full with water
Cant you drone uranium to your power plant aswell?
'better' depends on your goal
if you don't need more than 260gw of power the base alts work great and are simpler, needing less of other resources
Is there a easy way to make plutonium fuel rode I want to sink them and I have 360 uranium waste/min
I don't care about making a lot of plutonium fuel rode I just want to use all my uranium waste
hmm
all you need is to clock it
i run overclocking on everything so i just have a 1 to 1
in this example the bottom and top refs are one to one https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/558721941410807812/1304997394869522514/ratios.png?ex=697b6fc8&is=697a1e48&hm=bb1ad053fa6398986fa773fa8320ba0b7b7ad1317ba9a47a38cdcb89d06ab761&=&format=webp&quality=lossless
examples for 780 and 600 bauxite using Sloppy + electrode
the other recipe combos are also doable. Just slightly different
example diagrams - you obviously don't need to match the layouts , just for simplicity of having most of hte machines viewed at 100% https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1286300794311938099/1286343954157277307/alum_options.png?ex=697b78a9&is=697a2729&hm=e52354adc4f278db83f77128fdb4502d0a1d5cedc2a1f6ca11be392da14a69b7&=&format=webp&quality=lossless&width=934&height=1320
im doing 600 split across 2 different set ups so 300 each
You'd want to have 2 solution machines in that example then.
a fairly rare situation where you're processing very little bauxite
depending on the recipes and clocking though you could have the waste water from both scrap machines feed 1 solution machine?
ill defintly do that on my next setup but i might just put a band aid on this one with the packagers and leave it be
you could also just do a direct feed with a powered pump right before it enters the fresh, it's a bit delicate to set up but doable
but you don't want any repeating numbers in a system like that
How do I spawn-proof areas?
I had hoped power poles would be enough but that was disproved when I got swarmed by four hogs and a giant spitter while walking back from my coal power plant to my factory
I am at the third phase of the space elevator and I only have the first 4 milestones of tier 7 and the first on tier 8
powered machines
What's the easiest way to spawn-proof along my transit routes?
I don't just want to throw down a bunch of random constructors or something
powered machines every 100m ?
or just suck it up that there will be critters you move past and completely ignore on your way
I upgraded the miners on my two starter iron patches to mk2 miners so now I have 480 iron per minute. I am currently dedicating one 120 belt to modular frames.
Should I mirror this design and dedicate the whole first floor of my factory (240 iron) to modular frames?
if you want to double your MF production, why not?
I just realised it's not possible to process the maximum plutonium waste per minute without slooping. SAM is the LR.
yes, ficsonium is a punishment
i think im going to attempt 50 ai server, 50 bio sculpter and 12 warpdrives.
whats the go to route for getting the dark photonic matter for the warpdrives?
Generally better to work from end products, than from nodes
well, ill need to minimise my sam usage. current plan seems to use up about 16000
You can also use some online planner to calculate it for you ๐
@blissful epoch my math is running at 10200 max sam per minute for the whole map
you'd only need 33 sloops to reach enough SAM to fully cleanly burn all the uranium
When you have 4.3 beta of economics and ship management you could be playing instead?!?
hmm. if i sloop my things the make dark as byproduct, i can get rid of a ton of sam requirements.
however, this would come at a cost of 400k megawatts.
you might be slooping the wrong thing
I slooped the reanimated SAM constructors, you are using WAY more sloops than I was
10 blenders alone is 40 sloops
well, i kinda want to sloop the sculptors and servers anyway
hmm something wrong with my simulation, my power usage exceeds my gains
it's called a gigawatt ๐
I think its because I'm over producing materials to get the numbers out more easily
Is there a way to stack multiple splitters on one long conveyor lift?
Or do I have to do like a snaking thing?
wdym
I don't see why you couldn't
vertical splitters are a wonder indeed
I've put as many as 11 splitters on a single vertical conveyer
(and 11 mergers on the downward one)
any opinion on that?
opinion: can't see anything ๐
Compression is real
well not like modeler's screenshots would be readable without compression anyway
What percentage efficiency do u guys aim for
My heavy modular frame factory is working at 57% efficiency
personaly i dont aim for efficiency, rather ratios
100
How??
by... making sure machines run all the time?
About to go nuclear
Damn, noice I've only got about half that
first define 'efficiency'? just machine run time being up?
if so that's easy just use a planner like https://www.satisfactorytools.com/1.0/production
then build it
personally for going up the tiers I don't bother with machine uptime. I just smoosh things together and let it run as needed to progress
I'm about to have 20 nuclear reactors. I'm gonna be close to the millions soon
God damn
@obtuse fractal many tracks branching on and off
Needs more outposts.
I've been looking everywhere. I know the answer has to be on here somewhere im just having no luck finding it. I'm trying to load balance one input to 5 output. Can anyone help me?
2:6 balancer and loop 1 output back to 1 input
Loop one of the outputs back in front of the first split?
If so i think I've got it
Thank you
Note: one way is to merge it back before the first split, but that reduces your total throughput. If you wish to avoid this, for some reason, you can split the loopback in 2 and merge each with the original input right after the first split (this avoids any backing-up of the main line)
Ok. I'll take a look and see which works best for my small operation. Thank you.
@worldly sail example of reusing the waste water , blue is fresh, red is waste
bottom refs are solution, top are scrap
no need for wet concrete and sinking it. That's a method for people that can't manage basic clocking
omg, almost for perfect 8
why do heavy encased frames need so much concrete ๐
too much
What upgrade levels should I get to for the dimensional depot in mid-game? I currently have 30 upload speed and +1 stacks
all of them
Hey. Need some help with manifold.
So firstly, i understand that manifold can work perfectly fine if you have enough input into all of the machinery, just need time to wind up, right? Or, if we not considering wind up time, balancing works better?
Secondly, for example i have manifold like on photo, only the first belt, the one that goes into the manifold, should be tier 2 (if i have 120/min output) or some other belts needs upgrade too (also am i right with numbers or in manifold they work differently)?
And thirdly, i have one manifold factory, but i think it underproducing, but i even preloaded it and got all the machinery and belts overflow before start, where should i look to check is it working correctly or not and what could be an issue? (materials inputs are correct 100%)
balancing and manifolds work practically equally (after manifolds fill up)
ideally you want all your belts to be as fast as possible. In your case though, you need the main belt to be mk2 until at least second splitter (since I assume each machine wants 30)
if you have issues, try checking all the belts, again ideally just build all of them from fastest possible belts
Me watching yall doing sum engineer stuff when im only 150h in total not js my save
Hi
Load balancing is using Splitters nad mergers as well as belt speeds to evenly split parts or in your case biomass'
something like this. O is mergers ๐ฒ is splitters
balancers are known for taking up space
there maybe a better way to balance your setup io just quickly drew a example
Ooh great thanks
do you guys just sink the compacted coal from nitro rocket fuel? or use them for more power?
reuse it in the same process?
well nitro rocket fuel only needs fuel not turbo fuel
imma try to squeeze around 18K net more power and see if I have space
hey does anyone have blueprint of stackable vertical machines? like stackable constructors?
god these ratios are messy
What's the trick to weirdo numbers like these, that don't math nicely with outputs of others? Are you meant to overclock to get to more neatly divisible numbers or what?
ratios are meaningless when you total control of clocking
@knotty lynx yes ofc the layout matters on your pipes. The diagrams are like that because it avoids any one point needing to move more than 300 water pm
Do it in multiples of 5
which one did you guys choose? Leaning on the third one but those aluminum casings are ALOT
I'm not sure why you wouldn't be comparing teh same outputs ?
just looking at the wiki gives you a better idea as the numbers are much more relatable
and much like ... every single other recipe choice - highly depends on previous recipes, location, what else you're building on location
you just... calculate how many machines you need for the amount of product you want, as with anything else
make exactly what the number of machines need pm - put them on a belt.
clocking is the main tool to manage these things in the game
just looking at this plan is intimidating me lol
I'm building a symmetrical factory for basic iron materials. Would it be fine to have dimensional depots on each side, or should I only have them on one side?
Maybe level one storages with depots on top on one side and level two storages on the other side for symmetry?
do u guys like swirly rails
also on a side note, is this something im gonna regret later?
Personally I donโt like to use daisy chained stations but thatโs just me. If trains waiting are not an issue go for it. You can always change it down the road
What are peopleโs experiences of using a manifold to deal with empty canisters in a diluted packaged fuel set up? Does it work? Or is it better to assign a belt from one packager to another to a refinery in its own closed loop? My other idea was to just sink the canisters and use an impure node to flood the water packager with canisters that later get sunk after unpacking?
probably , the rails look way too close together
ive been told this mutliple times, ive already laid down 20km, i am NOT changing it
Direct feeding tends to be the most used approach as it's usually simpler and more blueprintable ^^ (blueprints also include the items you put in machines'/storages' inventories)
the trains can rub agaisnt each other for all i care
I figured thatโd easier. If I provide enough canisters aka flood it that would prevent things stalling?
On a new note I unlocked the blended turbo fuel recipe so after doing the math I think Iโm off to go conquer the blue crater ๐ much easier set up all round
It's not about the trains themselves, but rather how the game might treat what you built as "two rails" as "one rail" instead, with consequences on signals (eg: trains on opposite tracks dead-locking becouse the pieces of track between them touche and the game thinks it's just one big rail block instead of 2)
It's not super-easy to get the amount of canisters right in the manifolded approach because you also have to account for belt length. Having a storage between the output and input sides of the empty canisters can help, as you can keep adding stacks until things balance out (if you put too many, the system might also have issues)
Hmm yes my other fear was that, preventing a stall is not what I want as I want a steady power grid
I feel this blended turbo fuel recipe is the way forward. 23GW off one pure oil and I can easily handle by products. Just need some coal and sulfur
they will block each other from moving because it's the same block
It shouldn't completely stall in either case (too many or too few canisters), the downsides should just be on some machines not running all the time (lacking canisters or being full of them)
But yeah, blenders are much easier anyway ^^
as long as you have a container of empties at teh start of the manifold to completely flood the feeders they run fine.
but a BP of a self contained loop is perfectly viable too
Yeah I assumed as much but those machines not working will equal loss of power
I worked out the most direct approach for turbo fuel (split oil between fuel and heavy oil refineries) but wonder if adopting the heavy oil to packing unpacking setup would produce more?
ill.. manage...
I can see some fun in trying to create the most compact self contained loop possible lol thatโs always a fun challenge
lots of ways to do it ๐ the example I gave above could process 1200 bauxite with a couple more machines and more clocking
Whats the fastes time to progress through phase3 is it worth it automating the parts or should i just get the exact amount of each and let them run through overclocked manufacturers etc?
If you just care about progressing ASAP, watching how a speedrunner does it could help
This time there are explanatory subtitles. I use translation software, so if there are any parts you don't understand, please ask.

The run is in Japanese, but it has English subtitles in which they explain why and how they do stuff (make sure you enable them on YT)
Watching parts of it helped me to finally learn to embrace the portable hyper cannon way of traversing the map, it's honestly so fast and freeing to do that
@hollow rover you can sink the compacted coal to reduce the input materials.
The different alternative recipes for Fuel all have the same resource efficiency (ie: same amount of Fuel from the same amount of HOR). Using the Packaged one over the blended one just needs a bit less power iirc (the machines consume less)
If I build a 8 to 16 Balancer and one of the 16 outputs is full,
Will the Balancer work as 8 to 15 equally?
And then 14 and then 13 etc...
I have a really big system that I need to get 13,987 Coopers as input...
I'm thinking of an easy way to do this (so that the chance of failure will be low)
Easy way: hook each belt to the amount of machines it can feed. No balancing needed
I have rows of refineries connected in a manifold...
These are not pretty numbers...
For example a manifold of 800 or 500 etc...
Maybe just make their input as a manifold and then it will take forever to load XD
How much ficsit ingot/ficsit Trigon would I need
start small, scale up later
You'll know once you solve the questions:
"how many parts needing ficiste trigons will i make?"
@hollow rover for the radio cotrol unit my preferce has alway been the rubber recipe you cant really compare these without builing out the entire chain. What i found was the radio control have least total manufacuteres. id much rather make occilators over high speed connectors. still before i build these at scale i would plan you Phase 4starter facotry with a small amount of supercomputers, turbomotors, fused modulars, and cooling units For last phase buildbuilbles. tier3 miners.
I decided I'm going to do 295/min
It's easy I found a pure Sam node then a pure bauxite node
Im not to sure where silca should fit. while thiers is substal increse for aluiminuim yeild thier isnt enogh quartz in the would for the bauxite.
and while silca cirboards are nice that path wastes most of the cateruim.
What?
you dont use the quartz purification if you want just silica
you get more if you use cheap silica
There is a blended version of the HOR to fuel recipe? Thatโs interesting and sounds way more practical. Luckily Iโm not going for min max here just trying to get the most out a node as I can whilst using the least overwhelming approach lol first time getting this far in the game so keeping it chillish for this playthrough. 23GW seems like it should see me to the end if Iโm building modest
Y'all how much per minute should I have of the following items early-mid game?
Iron plates
Reinforced plates
Iron rods
Rotors
Whats the best place to make steel/general purpose factory? Looking for a flat, rich place to settle down
Personnaly I'm at phase 5 I'm making like 20 iron rod/ min same for plate
rotor like 10/min and reinforced iron plate like 10/min
But this is just for personal usage
How much do you wanna make?
I make almost all my steel part in the grass field there is 2 pure coal node
@oblique hollow Id like some quartz crystal. Assement is on point if i were make cheap silca with half the quartz i have enogh left over to challange my computer with the output of occlilators.
and that does not dent the limestone on the map
Yeah thats more like how i remember the limits.
Quartz Purification is more for if you need a proportionate amount (ish) of silica and crystals.
But here you need a lot more silica which is where cheap silica's efficiency outweighs it
Which one should I choose
Wait
i would go to advance game setting have them all.
id say copper rotor are best untill aluminum can make steel beams then the default recpie is best for rotors with steel rods.
bolted frames is not bad, preety good. im making frames with steel pipes sence the overall machines are less.
if you count all the assmber you see the saveing of less machine is outweghed by more machine downstream supplying reforced plates.
and before aluimium your cost on steel is the same with bolted.
quick question I wanna make 10 stators and im trying to do it out in satisfactory modeler but uhh its .999 instead of 80 and 30 will this make a difference or will the factory work at 100% or will it be at like 99% efficiency
thats a comupter math error it will be 30 and 80 per min. compurs need to convert numbers to binary.
any of these four worth it? I am on Phase 2. Haven't rerolled any of them.
Just wait
the one you wana use is worth it. If you cant decide..... just waiut
sigh....
You shouldn't get figures with errors like that - unless perhaps you've set the over/underclocking or the number of upstream machines using decimal which won't be accurate enough if repeating. Use mixed numbers with fractions instead,
question. i changed up a turbofuel train to move rocket fuel instead. it doesnt want to load the new fuel into the empty trains
do trains not accept gasses or something?
the station happily takes it
actually. im a melon.
btw: gasses apparently do not play nicely with buffers, and tend to not work well in trains. Liquids are fine but the gas changes apparently cause problems
For transporting gasses via train (or vehicle or drone) it's generally recommended to set up a packaging loop instead.
all of them have their uses - figure out what you might use in your next factory ๐
I've personally used all the recipes there except moulded beam, but that's really only because it's new to 1.0
Fused quickwire is nice imho. Saves Caterium. Moulded Beam can maybe be usable ig. As for the rest idk
But yes. Highly depends on the needs of your growing and young factory
make fused wire and fused quickwire out of Caterium Copper AND Iron. ๐
Never been a fan of the alloy recipes. I might give copper alloy a go sometime but usually i run tempered and pure
too many refineries.
Made a plan that used 3000 copper, some iron and 60 foundries
same plan with pure was 2400 copper and 160 refineries... ffffffffuck that.
Might i interest you in the petcoke agenda?
While I'd agree if you were talking about SFTools, such errors shouldn't show up in Modeler (ie: if they do, the plan isn't working as expected)
wait how do u do this??? ive never seen this customization before
also, look at my "entrance only" and "exit only" junctions
train schedule menu has a per station filter
can be useful. can also cause a headache 500 hours down the line (see my rocket fuel situation)
ok wait i have a situation
A - primary factory (needs copper wire manufactured at C)
B - oil brach with copper nearby (delivers plastic to A)
C - cadmium branch (needs copper)
i have a train already established that goes from A to B to A
youll still want a cart per product, but you can ensure the right things are loaded and unloaded
nono listen first
this is station A, the first slot is for quartz carried by a different train
the second slot here is plastic, delivered by the train thats transporting plastic
this is what the plastic carrying train looks like
as u can see, it has an empty first slot thats never used
hm, yes. this looks like precisely the situation where the filter could be quite useful
i was thinking i could use the first slot to deliver copper from B to C, and not unload the copper at A (cuz that slot is for qurtz at A)
I'd generally just do direct A to B trains instead of mixing routes in one train
so a A to B train and a B to C train and a B to C train
thatsa lot of trains
yeah but much simpler to work with
my infrastructure is not stong enough to sustain three trains
note, i already have three trains
two more would be very heavy
why so? power?
infrastrutcure
yeah which means what?
i didnt build this network with so many trains in mind
trains get stuck a lot
add signals and expand network ๐
everything is very tightly built
and theres only one U-turn in the entire netowork that exists at A
you don't need any U-turns with proper networks
and that U-turn is built into two stations
sorry what?
how will trains turn back
well, trains can run backwards, but that's not the point
point is that if you have two rails, one going there, one going back, then you don't need a U-turn to turn from one rail to another
i cant visualize that
ohhhh
like what i was doing here?
indeed
thank ypu!!!
is there a better way to do this...
i need 28 automated wiring per min
the amount of cable is straight bs
it's normal for the game to scale up over time
i do not remember this much scaling on my last playthru that i did a year ago
afaik, i reached those converter things in my last playthru
ficsite ingot and stuff
well the scaling changes with how much you want per minute
i guess im more hungry this time around
i think last time i was making barely 0.5 of these per min
what is the name of this site?
thanks
there are others like https://www.satisfactorytools.com/1.0/ if you want a web version (and also if you want calculator instead of a planner)
this is similat to my base, by they were way high up
can you pass me this proyect because i'm the same situation
?
no...
I wish I knew about that thing above before I made my stupid list with all of its math's and stuff. It's a 5 page long list I typed out on my phones notes app with constant switching between the game and my phone. It genuinely took like 25ish minutes just to get the steps to make 9 fused modular frames per minute all typed out. And dont get me started on the 11+ hour endeavor to build the thing since I didnt have it layed out in a nice visual.
Some of use like that process. But tools is a great resource. Definitely recommend keeping it in mind
My brain was broken trying to figure everything out all the time
Oh I get it. I use spreadsheets to keep track
And that was with my notes guide although it was literally just organized by color and had the expected results, resource cost, and if it existed the Byproduct of one thing removed some cost to other recipes. Ex water & sillca when making aluminum
My lasagna factory didnt make anything any easier oddly enough
Ya, i make a spreadsheet for every factory.
What's on its power grid, resources tapped. Resources gather and used. Parts in, parts out locations of those parts
Lol lasagna
Its true. Just look in the screenshots page for a sec and you'll see it cause I posted it a bit ago
sighhhhhh
maybe trying to convert everything from iron isnt a good idea
let me try to convert everything using steel
Only like 3 pure nodes with mk2 and the boosters
If you're at mk3 it should be even easier
What are you trying to make?
this is slightly better
this thing
That'll do it
Your lucky its just modular engines that you want a lot of
I just spent about 11 hours straight to make only 9 fused modular frames per minute
I wish fused modular frames were as easy to make as modular engines๐ฅฒ
My last build i did 10/min of all phase 5 parts. It was....... a task
Sorry but... how?
Like genuinely how?!
Omg I can only imagine all the planning...
Do you even have a stable fps anywhere?
Oh ya, no hardware issues
Thats nothing. Look at post from @cinder silo
He has factories thats process all nodes of any given type in the game.
All sam for example or all aluminum
I did have to up my object limit though
Its fine! We're good! Just a little to much water being pumped into my aluminum system!
Fixing that rn then everything will be good... maybe...
@tribal sun lasanga means multiple floors lol i get it
Its perfect right?
im,ma try tyo take a pic of my current motor factoy for you. First person games are a issue atm do to Lazik surgery
Sadly my lasagna mess is the only part of my factory that organized. Everything else is spaghetti working at like 70% efficiency. But thats generally for simple things like smart plates and what not
waiting for the hover pack to decorate
i included a pic of the pioneer for scale
I have 0 desire for decorating in this game
my first playthrough was 100% utilitarian'
I do the math for efficiency and then spend hours building hovering piles of lasagna and call it a day
I have 0 decorations rn and im the second to last phase with all but one thing unlocked
Second playthrough btw
this is two Metal works all the iron ingots, copper ingots and Copper powder needed for 10/min of all phase parts
i got sick of refineries real quick
its something you need to build a knowledge base for. tricks and self imposed rules to make them work consistently. Something the game currrently ill prepares you for
This is my main base and I suggest you shield your eyes.
I would fix it but... I really dont have the energy rn or ever to delete everything and rebuild it
no fixing. leave and move on
more efficient
Hold on ima pull up my first base from way in early access and show you that spaghetti
I got rid of the idea of "main Base" long ago. I move my hub to where my fucos is
better then my laptop i imagine. i run at 30fps and when i blow up something i go to 2fps for 5 minutes
Im weirdly proud of it too and idk why
Same
Trust me it looks worse the closer you get
And my fans are roaring rn
lol ive seen similar
Another angle
Probably but its still really bad
meanwhile
There's also like 10 individual storage silos
weaving belts lol
Clean
at somepoint i starter running my pipes above my refineries. really solved a lot of issues
Am I crazy or do you not have those annoying massive water pumps?
as needeed for example bottom of the pic
How many hours do you have in satisfactory? Im talking activity playing not afk
I dont generally afk maybe for like 5 minutes to get water or go to the washroom
im around 1000 hours
Im probably around 200-250. Granted majority of that was before 1.0
is there a way to make versatile framework without using coal?
Probably but idk
i think with the right alternate recipes you can
possible in mid game ?
ya, solid steel ingots bypass coal
k
Gonna take a lot more iron though
many think its worth it. paople love setting up huge iron owrks in the Dunes
I get that
so it does not bypass coal?
I only make steel pipes with the recipe thats pure iron
No it does but youll need more iron per minute
oops you are right. youll need coal no matter what
hmm
Wait why?
ok ๐
i dont have alluminum
then youll need coal
im working towards phase 2
solid steel requires coal
where did you start
is there a decent looking way to run like 3 conveyors across along distance
near like a river at the northern tip of north forest
i make conveyor pylons personally but many just run conveyors over or un der foundations
This is my strat though it ain't the best
lol
This is the only stupid tall one but I got these all over my map
getting a little creative with a blueprinter allows for quick placement and connecting of conveyors
this is another way. Just use foudations to give you a conveyor highways
Rate this base
im jsut using screenshots i have mind you its hard to play currently
Or...
looks good
๐
Better than mine
when i did that start i built my first steel factory here
yeah thats where mine is
then i decided to make a crocodile train station in the river
The final uploader is cool..... buit you could use those spheres to build more depot and have higher throughput
I just really want to finish the upgrade tree
it almost broke me. I ended upobuilding a train loop back under the whole thing
This is making my blood boil BTW. I spent the last 11 hours trying to make that number 100%, and this is what I get?
Though its still giving results so I guess I cant be to to upset... but still
I genuinely dont get why it says 94% cause it should be perfect. I made it perfect. But sadly numbers lie to me๐ฅฒ
A person can spend there whole life looking for the perfect cherry blossom only to find out they are all perfect
1 ammo per second
Im so pissed rn
I forgot about about the awsome shop till now and when I looked in it I saw so much that I wanted
For example this throughput moniter! When did they add this thing! Where has it been all my life!
ya, seems optional but the aw4esome shop is a requirment in my mind
This throughput moniter alone will save me so much effort
Assuming I make a another mega lasagna
so it works on avereage fyi.
but great for diagnosing
Thx for the heads up
I vaguely remember someone having a melt down about it lol
I'd love to see what that looked like
๐ฟ
Gotta love the fact that as I played i started using more and more clean and visually pleasing designs for all my machines
In the beginning it was a mess but slowly changes into a managed mess
its good for clarity. And makes tracking down issues so much easier
Kinda like any garage I've ever seen
Game can be so pretty I posted some pretty shots in #design-and-architecture
I love this game but sometimes when I work on something new its harder to start than homework
thats the part i like
Wdym?
the building less so. I gotta make a train network and two factories. all the planning is done. I know how many machines i need. the layout and such. But the actual building feels like a chore
Starting something new is a lot of work especially figuring out every single step to make it 100% efficient... or I guess 94% in my case
Personally the planning phase is harder for me despite the fact it can be done 100x faster
I can build it all cause I find it fun, but planning it? There's just so many numbers and a lot of self doubt to boot cause I dont trust myself to do math's right even with a calculator on standby
I work it all out in spreadsheets then use Satisfactory tools to confirm my numbers
This is what my planning was like cause it was all done on my phone
Might be hard to follow but all that really matters is I knew what I meant
heh. I also have to notepads on my desk
Also look at those numbers! Why were all the numbers several hundreds and some thousands!
if you have to use notepad to plan try this: https://www.satisfactorytools.com/1.0/production
works great
Honestly I might need a several day break from this game
breaks are good.
As I've said before i literally stayed up all night for those fused modular frames or whatever its called
I started playing no rest for the wicked. Suplexing my way through the game
I wonder how fast you could beat this game with like 4 people
By beat I mean complete tier 9
75 hours is my best time to credit roll
Im sorry... what?
But... but... 75 hours? I genuinely dont understand.
i kinda speeed ran the game the first feww times for achievments. Most myy playing happens out of game while planning
that way when i play i maximize what im doing
I still cant belive its even possible to beat the game that fast solo
That's the time id expect from 2 or 3 people
I thought no lower than 90 hours solo
idk i dont have a context. i didnt know that was fast until i mentioned it a few weeks ago to someone
not much reason to bypass coal anyway
Dude I have like 70 hours on my current save and still have so much left
my current slpw save is 130hours deep and im only starting phase 3. im taking it real slow for me
Granted im on tier 8 but I have a lot left to make and to make them be made fast thatll take like 30+ hours
I dont know if cursing is bad here but... damn... thats slow๐
while i have you here. Someone was asking why tools says 1.0 and if there was a 1.1 version. I told them it is up to date and it is accurate and not to worry about that. but.... just out of curiousity does it say 1.0 becuase there was no changes effecting the math since 1.0?
Idk tbh
self impossed rules. Like no floating factories, Make them look good before moving on
Im not the guy to ask cause I barely know whats going on
thats why i asked greeny. its his tool
Ouch... yeah that'll slow you down a lot...
because I didn't really update it and for some technical reason it's not super easy to change it from 1.0 to 1.1 (and URL would still show 1.0 anyway), so I didn't bother
I figured it was something like that and not wirht pinging you about it when you were not ac tive lol
I've noticed you love those extra spaces huh?
im just real sloppy atm. I had eye surgery three days ago
Don't know why but they're almost always the first thing I see not only in your messages but any
You doing alright?
oh ya, It was Corrective surgery. Once i recover i should have 20/15 vision. Previously i was blind without my glasses. With my glasses my vision was so bad i could not drive
That seems... inconvenient to say the least
Doesn't that mean your eyes will be better than average or am I backwards?
correct. 20/20 is what ppl want i should have better then that is three weeks time. ATM i have 20/20 and im still early in recovery
but the strain on my eyes is real. focusing is difficult which is to be expected during the recovery period
so im just chilling watching movies and chatting
should i add a industrial buffer going from my blenders making rocket fuel to the fuel gens or just make it straight from the blenders to the gens without one
you shouldn't ever use buffers in the middle of piping, unless it's for trains
Honestly I probably have like 20/25 vision or worse cause I swear my eyes just stop working sometimes. Like a full 2 and a bit seconds to be able to read something a ways a way
no i find Buffers mess things up
alright thanks
and gases dont like buffers
I use buffers for decor only
Wait gasses dont like buffers?! That actually really messes some things up for me. Why dont they agree?
in general fluids don't work well with buffers
they just act wierd. once you add them pipes dont fill directly and you get wonky outputs sloshing too
I might be cooked then cause I got most my fluids hooked up to buffers
if it works dont touch it and move on lol
Like nearly all of them
oh yeah heavily recommended to remove all of them
Wait is that why my thing is 94% and not 100%???
mayhaps
yeah one buffer messed up my 600 pipe and it was showing 274-ish
Is my math's and hard work messed up because of like 2 buffers in the system???
I really dont want to touch any of that stuff again...
are floorholes still buggy or thats fixed? cause i have quite a lot
afaik fixed
seems to be fixed for the most part. Ive had some odd connectionm issues like the pipes not wanting to snap to them but beyond that they work
one little problem if anyone knows the issue, one of my blenders making the rocket fuel doesnt <<push out>> the rocket fuel as a result it idles after a while and some gens shut down.
Is your output pipeline on same height as the output on the machine and/or input on the generators?
blenders are higher than the gens
i decided to add a 3rd pipe so i wont use the 2 mk2 on their maximum
hi i want to make a factory to make 1200 plastic and 1200 rubber, which recipes should i use
HOR, Recycled rubber and REcycled plastic are a good start
Oil to HOR alt to Diluted fuel Alt to Recycled plastic / rubber is the most oil efficient?
I recommend you make 2 factories though
1 for hte plastic , 1 for the rubber. Independent of one another
so i'm trying to make some packaged turbofuel, but satisfactory modeller keeps bugging out when i connect the residual plastic recipe to the canister recipe, how do i fix this?
or try Modeler discord
kk i'll try the discord
You could add a priority splitter and a sink. It may be having trouble closing the equations if there isn't an escape valve for the goo
or just use a planner that doesn't require you to do all that - like in the link
Well, his real system will need the sink so not sure it's s bad thing to have in the modeler
yeah i'm using this as part of a wider factory
using the one impure node in the area to make turbofuel for the jetpack
just have a sink in the game. It's not rocket surgery
Because 10โ 16.66?
The numbers have to match to work
normally it'd just lower the final result to compensate for the low water no?
Or you have to supply the missing items, or sink the excess
The issue isn't water
It's the ratio between the Turbofuel and canisters this chain makes
No matter what the final output you choose, the ratio will always be off
ig i just won't connect it, put a sloop in the constructor so it makes more canisters than there is turbofuel for it to go into and sink the excess
Hey quick questions guys? Smart splitters, I've got a train station outputting upto 8 different items, the 4 outputs go into 4 smart splitters. I put four different items on the belts and let it dry run to make sure they do where they need to. and after a little bit it binds up and stops. I've dry ran it with each item individually and it works, but once i pull the spot outs it freezes up after a little bit.
Any Advice/input would be helpful.
so in this example you have multiple items dropping off at the same platform?
some item not in the filter stuck in the spliter
Yes I'll had up to 8 different items dropped off at the same platform, and sorted out from the 4 outputs into 8 truck stations to be moved to the small factories
I thought that, but it should just indeffinately run itself around, because the third output on all the smart splitters is set to undefined item
ok so at the drop off location you want
platofmr > buffer > smart splitter sort to different single item bufferse + overflow sink
welll.... the cleaner setup would be to have one item per wagon
aye but pulling 8 waggons would of been a bit much.
which is pretty much what i have, other than the overflow sink atm.
np just have a train in back too
you're interlinking a ton of belts before sorting buffering and sinking
I'm not at all surprised this is locking up
platoform > buffer > smart splitter sort to different single item bufferse + overflow sink THEN send off to various machines/systems
don't interlink them
trust me you will clog your items
Im confused on why that would be clogging it, that thirds spot it set to undefined item and should just cycle the item that doesn't match till it gets to the smart splitter that does and then the item is filtered out, this is all while i stream line my pickup stations to to the right items in the right carts.
any undefined will almost always clog things up
set it to overflow
I've never seen a situation where 'any undefined' doesn't murder things
Ah okay
but also it's very hard to tell where you're going to have throughput issues in that
hence the sequence I suggested
filter out individual item belts from each platform
you will fill the wagon with one item cause you ditnt need so much and the whole setup glogs
you have to make 8 buffer and sort the items in and get rid overflow or it clogs
I've set it to overflow, rather than undefined, and we'll see.
again hard to tell what is going on mixing all the belts there - but if it doesn't work after that definitely individually sort all the platforms on their own first with overflows to sinks
1:sam
1:copper
2:quarts
2:caterium
3:iron
3:limestone
4:coal
4:oil
Are what is going to be incoming, and the splitter it is on( 1,2,3,4) I have one stations that loads, sam, quartz, iron, coal, so im using that as the base.
the cleaner way is one item one wagon
yeah but you're mixing all the belts together and sink placement is really important.
Like it could work smoothly after you make the change or it could still just clog up
oh as long as you immediately sort the items off the platform - sushi platforms are fine
so you have a way better speed per item
but if you want to make your life simpler with sushi trains you do want immediate sorts
you have no control how much you get in ratio per train cycle
that's why you have the buffers post sort - effectively just turns it into a normal delivery system
buffer > sort/sink > single item buffe
well when you scale up the belts not fast enough
just depends on how much of each item you're bringing in ofc
the same with trucks, make better trains or belts
like if you do need a full platform just for 1 item? yeah maybe don't do sushi at that point
but if you're moving small amounts? it's not a huge deal
for small high tec suff you use the fly things
but the list up ther is all T0 stuff who needs processing
I've buffers all over, and im only bringing in either ingots or raw, from the train. Im gonna streamline it, i just wanted the ability if i forget which goes in which wagon, the sorter will figure it all out. once it hits the platform and then the trucks, then it'll get processed and moved to another sorting location, but i'm not that far yet
5 smarts in row allways with overflow to the next an one sink will do it
the belt speed is your limmit
yeah, looks like the undefined was the thing hanging me up, so i'll get another load of something else and try it. see what happens.
GL HF ๐
you may also be facing the problem of trying to delivery too much on each platform? how many trains are stopping there ?
I've one train atm, gonna see how that goes, and keep my belts as high as possible to speed things up. See how it does from there.
9 stations in total including the drop off, i'm not gonna have it pick up at all of them in one run, I'll work out the schedule so it fills each of the four wagons, and then returns.
oh shit you're trying to funnel 9 stattion's throughput to that 1 drop off point?
unless you're doing a small fraction of a belt from each outgoing station you're going to clog your system up
Not all the stations have four wagons to pick up. Some only have 1
still OK SO trains have a throughput
Itโs only one pick up station that have a full trains worth
but platforms also have throughput
and because every time 1 train loads/unloads they pause for 27 seconds
that means they can never deliver 2 full belts
and the more stops you have at a station the more lock outs you have
so if over a 10 minute period you have say... 10 trains stopping there, that's only 5 minutes of throughput (roughly) meaning for the entire station, each platform will only move 1 belt throughput each
which means every train you have coming in better have very low throughput on each wagon that needs to move
Throughput meaning? Sorry Iโm still learning lingo
so a mk1 belt can move 60 parts per min right?
that's it's throughput
maximum throughput*
Iโm moving from which takes steel beams, to encased steel beams so idr what mk the are atm
But itโs around 240ppm
yeah that aspect doesn't really matter right now - with trains if you assume you're using your fastest belt everywhere you can kinda talk in belt throughput
but yeah with that many trains stopping at the station you might be able to move 1 belt TOTAL on each delivery platform.
this is why the general advice is to do A to B trains with their own stations
especially with raw resources since yo uneed so much
Alr, im understanding, i guess im jumping a few steps to do some more adv circuit stuff. Which only one train rolling and its unlikely the stations are gonna be filled I can throttle the input at pickup with lower belts and throttle up the output at the drop off and see what happens, since its one train doing it all atm, likely gonna just move the liquid on an a-b loop since thatโll be easier than packaging and unpackaging
I mean I guess? but you really want to decide what your delivery factory is going ot need and send it there
satisfactory doesn't really have 'circuitry'. All processes are constant.
Plus since most of the stations are a single pickup in one wagon. And not the whole train itโll also slow thing down
I mean circuit trains, going in a loop rather than back and forth, even more so with multiple stops
yeah you often want to avoid multiple stops. Again each individual train doesn't have THAT much throughput
Yeah, Iโm starting to get it, ima give it a shot, weโll see, I think Iโve a good plan, just gotta see what Iโll have to fix
life hack, plug up the output to a part of your factory so that the filled machines stop on their own
it speeds up manifold filling
How to make a sushi belt? For ex, if i want a sushi belt for my assembler making quickwire. One caterium for every 5 copper.
well in general you put exactly what you need for a group of machines on the belt - smart splitters set to ITEM and then over flow at each input, then a final over flow to a sink until it balances out
mweheheheh
my heart rate looking at #screenshots
I actually have so idea why it's fluctuating
The primary powerplant is entirely stable
I think I set up some plants that are working off trickled fuel that I forgot about
@fathom radish No? i dont think there is a downside. But hyour lack of foundations is disturbing.
I prefer the power priority switch.

yo im doing trains rn and a pathway signal says the signal loops it self what does that mean how can i finx it ?
first.... do you know what signals do
ye le cut the railway into blocks and if a train is on the block it wont let other trains go there and pahtsignal have an extra even if in an intersecion has a train it let the other train thruo if they will not collide
or at least that what i got form a tutorial
so if signal is placed and there is no other signals to ping off of it sees itself
all signals that you want to work with eachother must be on the same side of the track facing the same direction
The defualt clipping points are often bugged and you need to place them just before or after the suggested clipping point
np they can be a pain
so now its red and says waiting for paht reservation but there are no trains in the intersections what then ?
Which signal is it
So that one is designed to be placed before a intersection. It does the math for all incoming trains letting them pass without hitting. It will say that until a train talks to it
When train asks for permission to proceed it will do the math and direct
i see
thx
you seem to know a lot about trains can i show you mine how does it look ๐ ๐
and if im doing something stoopd ?
You can try. Im more of a hands on kinda person. But yes trains drove me crazy so I spent 100 hours figuring it out
Feel free to @me if you struggle
Something annoys you so much you learn it out of pure spite.
Youtubers also did a poor job explaining known bugs that break the rules they tell you about lol
That will drive me crazy.
So I made it a personal mission to remove confusion
Right now I am at Phase 3 and my question is, how many modular motorns and adaptive control units should I produce. I dont want to escalate with this production but I am sure I will probably need them later for the next phases
can i dm you?
Sure
sent
I generally just decide how long I want to have to wait for the elevator delivery, and then build out that rate of production. (I'm personally generally happy with just a 2-hour delivery.)
It's true that you might need/want to later beef up your production to support a similar later-phase delivery timeline, but in practice I've found that if nothing else, adding some sloops to the earlier phase's final step is generally enough to get me there
to plan for the future what would you gets recommend as a split in my aluminum factory. 50% casing and 50% sheets? or something different
sheets are used in belts casing is used in some phase 4 part phase 5 parts and packaging gases. if you plan on moving lots of gas later you may want more casing
thats all they are used for? kind of sounds like they dont get used much
really depends on the player. i did a 50/50 split of one Bauxite impure node and beat the game with no issues
atp idek why im making 900 aluminum ingots per min
make 200 ingots worth of each casing and sheets. Sink 500 and you can just expand if you need more. or whatever arbitrary number you choose.
alright ty
worst case you got lots of tickets for the golden Nut later ^_^
im planning to make a rocket fuel factory to fuel drones. my question is how much would be enough? Im not planning to make a kibitz style world but not a small one either. any ideas?
well that depends on how many drones you plan to have and what journeys they'll have ๐
I've seen this a few times, must be glitch in the matrix
"Planning for the future" in general just isn't worth it in this game. The answer always depends heavily on how "big" you build, what you decide to build, what recipe chains you use, etc. Best to just make whatever you need Right Now, in the knowledge that you'll need to make more later
For Aluminum in particular, IMO there is certainly some value in centralizing at least the ingots, to some degree, but I wouldn't recommend trying to just guess what your split of casings/sheets will need to be. (Don't forget, there's also tanks!)
What I nearly always do with aluminum is: max out a bauxite node making Aluminum Ingots using whatever recipe chain happens to be most convenient at the time. Have all those ingots go to the sink
Then, as things need aluminum material (sheets/casings/tanks/etc), peel off however many ingots are needed and either send them over, or (depending on the product + availability), produce onsite and then send them over
Over time, the amount of ingots you're sinking gets smaller and smaller, until it's time to tap a new bauxite node
It's pretty much the exact same amount of work as if you happen to guess the "future planning" ratios exactly, with the benefit that there's zero guessing involved
(And it's less work than if you guessed wrong, which is quite a bit more likely)
I jsut process a entire node. take half the output of aluminium ingots and make a equal split of both sheets and casing leaving a verticle space to expand if needed. the other half of the ingots i just sink until i need them
well thanks i decided to do a 50/50 split
does anyone have info regarding recycling water back into the system for alumina?
mostly chat wil give you options in tyhe end you make the decisions ^_^
i mean i saw it was only used for the 2 things if u disclude alternate recipes so wtv ig
can just scrap parts of the factory if i want later
- the current factory is built for 1200 and i only have 780 conveyors
I always recommend looping it back, but keeping "fresh" and "recycled" on totally separate pipe systems. A real small vanilla example plus a larger sloppy/electrode setup:
Will often need to use overclocking/underclocking so that the numbers match up, and I always recommend pre-flooding the "recycled" pipes with water so that everything starts up pretty much at 100%, but it's quite foolproof
How accuately can i estimamte route time knowing fuel useage and distance of my truck routes?
If you do want to combine the fresh+recycled into a single pipe system, the most reliable way to do so is with a "VIP Junction" (see https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/images/Pipeline_Manual.pdf) though IMO it's not worth the potential debugging
page 14 i think talks about that
lol you beat mne to it
Other folks will recommend you take the recycled water and send it to some other process like Wet Concrete, but that always strikes me as unsatisfactory. :D
if your doing aluminum i suggest building in balance moduale blueprints. 3 to 5 machines with defined inputs and outputs
IMO not worth the bother; just set up the route and then time it once it's set up. :)
for recycling i have had success using the Variable priority Junction described on page 16 as a backup feeding and backed up water to a wet cement setup as a release valve is something went awry. turned out i did it right and it wasnt used mnind you
And if a single vehicle can't support your required throughput, given the round-trip time, you can always just add more vehicles to the route
wdym on a seperate system, do you mean have lets say 75% of the refineries on fresh water and the o ther 25% run exculsively on recycled?
ALSO, if i have 1800 water usage total, and i have a total production of 500 recycled water, do i externally bring in exactly 1200 water?
Basically, yeah. See the images I set up -- in the first "vanilla" set up, there's two refineries being fed from Water Extractors, and a third taking its water entirely from the Aluminum Scrap recycled output. I believe the Alumina Solution refineries in there are all clocked to 66.6667% or something; it was a pretty small initial setup
this is the least effeceint way to do aluimium but i like it sence i tested it overclocked.
i dont think i have room to underclock....
Blueprints are certainly quite handy once you know what you're doing, though someone setting it up for the first time is probably better off just doing it by hand at first. :D
There's also overclocking, of course. :)
i mean i guess i could but i would rather not ๐
that just takes in 240/480bautite and gives 360 scrap.
i want to do one for slopy alumina and coke on this playthough
this might work i but wouldnt trust it witthout testing.
why the buffer?
its needed sence machine pull more on startup for the first few seconds. then things go steady state.
module can be starve for coal or bautixe and have no issue when resupplied.
im not going to say you cant make a module without a buffer but addeing one makes the math easier.
i find letting my pipes fill completely before activating the machines and filling fluid inputs from above solves many issues
thier more thier becuase i expecpted supply issues for inputs and wanted to be sure nothing need to happen to reset the system.
and i did have many logistical issue added to more train cars and balancers.
didn't we solve your alumina waste water issue the other day?
i think that might of been to do with fuel
now is the worst stuff with alumnina ๐ญ
no it was definitely alumina #1467706557411102792 message
uhh idk cuz this is my first alumina factory, maybe we got confused with smth and started talking a different route
You can look at the thread, we were absolutely talking about alumina
you're even the one to bring it up
anyway re read your own post. Very simple ways to manage the waste water
@hexed minnow this is the grasslands the green nodes are pure coal nodes yes the iron is mostly impure but lots of it and lots of limesotne
@hexed minnow this is the same area with my currrent run i have two buildings one makleing steel in the bottom left another making 10/min rotors, Stators, and motors bottom right
steel
rotors motor and stators
you can string multiple impure nodes together into your build
planner is the math https://www.satisfactorytools.com/1.0/production?share=mV9z3EboyxVubgGoD7X7
you can be more oil efficient though
I check and I cant generate for turbofuel
you want oil or sulfur effeceincy?
or you you want power or packadge fuel for dimimonds.
or you want power go for rocket fuel
build a small oil step and do it with blenders in a later phase well worth the tech wait.
turbo blend is most sulfur effecint. nitro rocket most oill effecint
thats what im doing but im starting on the left to get into next phase
and being in dune desert not near allot of water i have allot of sulfur so im not maxing that.
if your in a differnt location you may want turbo blend fuel.
you need to check compacted coal and turbo fuel in the alts recipe. the link I shared to you should already ahve that
oh okay thanks
Don't have blender but thanks a lot
ok thanks
it works the same just more water without blenders. and you want stright line from packer to unpackers.
working on a new train depot, but ive never been able to get these pathing signals to wrok properly. for everything i know about them, this setup should be working. any ideas?
just use blocks here
and there's no need to have the rails connect between the front and back of station
its now only these 3 not working lol
show the block colours?
sometimes having signals right at the jucntion can be a bit wobbly
I'd prob just put 1 block signal in the middle there on each of the sections
that worked thanks, no matter how much i play this game i never understand these things
there's just a current small bug with signals right on junctions atm. You're doing it right
yeah i know of it, we make do though
All I do when placing my signals is oh it isnโt working? Ok Iโll place more
how would i route 8 outputs of 100 per minute into 10 inputs needing 75 per minute and then sink the overflow from the outputs
what's your fastest belt?
You could change the machines making the 100/min
Build 16 machines clocked to 50 or 8 clocked to 100
wdym
i have 16 constructers producing iron plates at 50/m and thats merged to 8 outputs of 100/ minute
Yeah and hook each belt to machine needing 100 or two machines needing 50
no i have 10 assemblers making reinforced iron plates and it need 75 plates/m
So clock the machines differently
You get access to clocking in the MAM
itโs your main tool to do what youโre asking
yea everythings clocked to the max rn
How? Itโs unlikely you have enough shards
i explored like the entire map
then clock it to 50 and build more
its clocked to the max and still at 75
if i want it to be 50 then i have to input like 2 decimals and it messes up the other values
how many plates pm is your constructor making?
exactly
ok clock your machine to need 50 plates pm
ok look what happens hold on
it doesn't?
it does
and what's so bad about that?
i want maximum eficiency
this will be at max efficiency
then clock it less
or have 2 machines feed 75 plates pm
per minute
oh mb
you can have 1 machine make 50 and another make 25
whats that do other than advance it
wdym advance it
make it more comblex
more simple
btw how are you feeding that many screws per min into the machine if you only have mk2 belts?
if you match inputs and outputs, it's way simpler than doing weird shenanigans to put 17 belts into 33 outputs
i got an idea
150 screws pm is too much for a mk2 belt
ok i made it 60/m and the screws are 120/m
so have 2x machiens make 30 plates each
then i wouldnt be using all my ingots
you build more machines
ok
point is to make machines make a good amount per minute that you can hook directly into next step
