Somerium Fuel Rod concept (some crafting components/steps omitted)
I'm thinking since plutonium is blue-ish gray/cyan, the mixture of Somersloop-Soup would make the fuel rods a purple tinge.
It makes the final product look unnatural, but that makes sense considering that the Somserloop is native to the alien world, so the resulting fuel rod would also look sorta alien.

A nice lore suggestion: The somersloop is a type of alien statue that was carved from large chunks of somerium ore/stone that an ancient civilization had mined/quarried ages prior to the pioneer's arrival. The somerium ore/stone was not known to be such a potent power source until the pioneer analyzed the artifacts and discovered their hidden potential. The somerium is found deep below the surface and is extremely difficult to reach and rare to find. Once crushed and mixed into a fluid (known as the somersloop soup or somersoup) it has the ability to react and bond to the atomic structure of plutonium pellets, fortifying them and creating an even denser and longer lasting power source for nuclear generators. (Using the alien mixture has been known to cause some power fluctuations and an ominous purple haze around reactors.)

The waste byproduct has yet to be analyzed however it appears that it exhibits an exotic radiation type with a shorter half life than usual. It seems to emit radiation in a smaller radius than uranium waste but is even more lethal than plutonium waste when standing within a couple feet of it.

Here is my version of @drowsy thorn's 3D files for the nobelisk detonator. I used some different colors and made a couple of modifications. The main one being that the buttons and top part actually move! This was achieved by redesigning some parts and adding a handfull of springs. This is gonna get a nice spot on my desk 😁

This is a concept train that I thought of. It is much faster but has no freight car attachment. A larger inventory plus a crafting bench are smaller benefits.
