Basically that "Client side encryption" is something that cannot be supported for service you want.
For that price I'd rather buy 2 NAS devices and keep them in different cities while doing backup lol
man at this rate, it's going to be aws.
Secure storage online backup service: โ cheap data storage โ GDPR-compliant hosted in germany and finland โ 100 % green electricity
Ah, Hetzner. Came across them.
That seems to be the cheapest you can get in EU based on various comments, for just getting bulk storage as service via standard protocols, and not via Amazon S3 or like special API or provider specific software, or rolling your own by renting a server instead.
Point was that lot of places have S3 compatible object storage API services.
But probably not a protocol that NAS backup software knows.
What NAS maker is it?
Seems Hetzner is what I need.
Synology.
So can do rsync or Amazon S3 Storage (and clones) basically.
In addition to specific listed services.
For that Synology Hyper Backup in DSM 7.3
Yeah I know ๐
It can do a lot. That's why I was confused with the other cloud wanting it's own software.
honestly 10 euro for 5TB is nothing.
Will probably turn on compression not sure if it will help a lot.
A lot of videos and photos. Already compressed.
rsync on synology is abysmally slow
Implementation, CPU or like limits or something else?
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
rsync (via ssh) is VERY slow ( ~85 Mbit/s)
So not that slow, just slow in comparison to stuff that is expected to work on fast links.
Edit: Not on Synology.
a syno nas can do the full ~100MB/s on a 1Gbps network with SMB, but barely do 5MB/s with rsync
Ok, yeah, Synology was slower, 15MB/s in one part.
But rsync is very old protocol.
But it is the best generic protocol that that Hyper Backup supports.
There is also other packages. Active Backup for Google workspace etc.
but hyper seems to be most broad.
<Synologys own ecosystem>
Remote Synology NAS or rsync servers
Public cloud services: Synology C2 Storage, Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft Azure, JD Cloud, OpenStack Swift, Rackspace, HiDrive, hicloud S3, S3 Storage (and other S3-compatible backup destinations)
Support for various specific services via their own special protocols, but rsync is the only "standard" one, with S3 Storage approaching that at this point.
Hetzner has S3 Storage compatible service, but it is more expensive: https://www.hetzner.com/storage/object-storage/
Get your object storage: S3 Storage that grows with your needs โ GDPR-compliant โ cheap price โ 100% green electricity
That you can buy the storage for less than a month.
And if you rent, then cancel in suitable time, you get billed by the hours you actually used and not the monthly price.
Ah, that is even different. No was right.
why?
Need for higher space for short time?
Or just needing space at all for short time.
Note you don't need extra traffic.
That is for downloads, not uploads.
So you need that only if you need to restore.
Some is used when uploading, but not significant amounts,
As in confimation traffic etc.
๐
why so complicated ffs
I know they call it "flexibable" but it feels like a scam.
Like, I pay for storage.
How is my data going to get to storage if not by "traffic" ?
So why not ask just one price ffs.
Billed for outgoing traffic, not incoming traffic, pretty common thing in enterprise space.
So what am I getting?
a container that I can use also for a website?
But also for storage or something?
In what scenario, would I have 1TB storage and 10TB outgoing traffic?
If I have a company and everyone is pulling in that 1TB constantly?
Riggght... started to get that feeling mhm.
I should contact Hetzner support. And ask them the questions.
all I can contact is an AI ๐
or a telephone pff.
Not even a mail adres.
Customer support costs, if you want that, you don't go for the cheapest possible.
Yeah ... but not even an email for real?
The money they spend on the crap AI which will 100% not give an answer to my questions, they could spend on a human.
I don't imagine Hetzner being so big they get 500000 mails a day.
Let's give it a try shall we?
Damn, it did give me a somewhat decent answer.
So, traffic is min 1TB (I can select 500GB but pricing stays the same). If you go above, you pay 1 dollar per TB or something in blocks of 100MB.
whatr cloud do you use @twin dew ?
i bet none
None at that time.
I should, but haven't gotten far enough.
That was the point of why I had looked onto those couple several years ago.
cloud storage is just a waste still
๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Your data, I don't care what happens to it.
To me it's too important too lose. So backing it up. Makes me sleep better.
it costs more than getting the drives yourself
Why spend all the effort in getting a NAS, setting it up, and then not to the final think to make it foolproof.
i could get using a free 5GB plan for backing stuff up but thats not storing stuff
IIt's like so much effort, but then not putting the cherry on top of the cake, and then all your drives get fucked and you just lost all your data.
there a diffrence between sotring and bakcing up
You can backup your NAS to other drives and put them in a vault seperate place.
Then take them out of the vault every month, plugin them in, back up and put them back in a vault. Yeah. That can work.
I don't even have working NAS right now.
Will see when I have time to install and configure the OS.
12TB?
No, I don't have 12TB of data.
Baldur ... ๐ a little bit up. Not you. MagicZ.
Should have used the reply feature my bad!
i wont loose sleep over most of the stuff i could loose from a drive failure
I have about 100GB of data that I actually care about, 10GB or so that would be semi-critical.
2TB goes to windows which i could recover fairly effortlesly
2TB of games is jsut redownloadable
All that is already mirrored and backed up inside same system on different mirrors with snapshotting.
But need to get that NAS up too.
For actual backups.
And then get cloud backups for the most important shit.
Not judging.
But I did not expect that from you Baldur.
I did expect that from MagicZ though ๐คฃ
and then i have a 8TB drive of videos and old stuff i dont use but want to keep that isent full + laptop and some other drives
probably recording 24/7 4K videos and too lazy to clean it up, so they keep buying more storage ๐คฃ
Limited time.
"Lost" basically all free time for stuff like that this year to other shit.
so overall outside of passwords and acounts i really have nothing i would loose sleep over
Sorry, I feel guilty ๐ ๐ ๐
I did use up a lot of your time.
yea i do need to cleanup my raw recordings
Freaking new it!
No you haven't.
i have some going back to 2023 but there not actually taking much space
Nice, you forgot
Talking here doesn't count in that at all basically.
ok thats more than i tought but still only 25%
also i dont record in 4K
mostly 1440P 60FPS and upscale if i need
I haven't reached 1 TB yet but close to it
i have that as windows bloat alone i think
I also keep very important data on multiple locations while not-so important data is on NAS
well, 2026 I will focus on my NAS and all my data spread across multiple devices.
I mean, I would feel bad if something happened to NAS data but not much tbh
But before I throw everything to my NAS, I want to make sure it's backed up.
i should really go through my storage again
i havent since 2023 and its really becoming a problem
I have 2 drives with photography (.raw) files.
2 drives with entertainment. 2-3 dead laptops to recover data from. 1 PC to recover data from.
My current PC and laptop.
Hope to have one ring to rule them all. My NAS ๐
but seems I am better prepared than most in here.
I should probably backup this to NAS too
Man ... why do you even have that on your system.
I saw 2-3 pictures on a YT video and got nausieus. ๐คฎ Bunch of rich white men with girls that have their names on them like they are some sort of product.
Heck yeah, NASes
I guess you could say curiosity has killed a cat lol
just incase i ever needed it lol
No, Asablic with Epstein files.
its supposed to autodelete after some time normally but mine nerver did and i nerver needed the space
That's disturbing.
oh
What's your setup? (backup, cloud, ...)
I want to see if there is some confidential data which has been redacted in acrobat reader but you can copy it to word tbh
Honestly having a backup of that laying about is understandable if you put the right amount of trust in the us government
But it's always good to know about the world secrets!
hahaha, secrets ... yeah ... haha, most well known secret.
I have a 24tb nas i bought for 80 bucks, and it's served me well as a samba disk to stream off of
Ok, but you don't back it up?
and 80 bucks for 24TB sounds sketchy.
but ideal for a media station if you don't care for the data
It's configured as raid 1 so there is some redundancy, and if both drives break I have the important stuff externally backed up as well
why are you so stressed over data loss tho????
It was an official WD refurb that just... Cost 80 bucks. The 12tb version was 500 so everyone was suspecting price error
even my decade old M.2 hasent had any significant data loss
Why aren't you?
But everything was honored, no emails or anything
iv nerver had a storage drive fail from internal factors
So, yknow, we take those?
I had. And pictures of my family, people who are dead, ... I don't want to lose that.
It used to be all on paper (for my grandparents etc). Now it's all digital.
thats fair
I also have 200GB worth of music since my puberty. Like 20 years + of music collection.
but print them out?
Just the library alone is super important to me.
yeah... paper is not really fire resistance. Or floods. Or any natural disaster.
I do wonder what happens if I die ๐คฃ Will it be forever in the cloud.
a plastified printed pic is more flood resitant than a storage drive
I'm not a biker, but I'd still wear a helmet and protective jacket all the time even though it's likely that it wouldnt be necessary on any individual trip
My most important file is KeePass database lol. I keep it in 4 locations: my PC, USB, NAS and cloud
Something about having to be unlucky only once to be screwed
And the master password is stored in my head and a piece of paper
honestly, if people think about it, that's already big step. MagicZ clearly though about and just has the conclussions it's all data they can miss. I understand that.
having to manually copy every file i own to a bunch of drives on a diffrent pc through usb sticks sounds like such a pain in the ass
i dont care enough
i backup my passwords on a few usb's at once aswell as both my pc's and thats all i really care about
everything else can be recovered from there or isent the end of the world
I could set PC to backup password database to 3 locations at the same time and then put it on USB stick later
So I don't have to do it manually every time
Eh, I am not sure. The more places you store the DB, the more points of vulnerability you add. And if it's all your passwords.
My keepass DB is on my three Windows computers, my phone, and dropbox.
And dropbox doesn't have the corresponding key file (+ password), but that keyfile has printed backups instead.
brute force is still a thing ...
if you update your passwords every x months, it shouldn't be a problem.
Without that keyfile it can only be done direct on the DB file main encryption.
As it basically forms part of the password.
So they would need to brute force the actual 256bit AES or ChaCha20 key
Not the manual password used to unlock the actual key.
It is likely, if not inevitable, that quantum computers will soon be able to break the encryption methods that secure your passwords, your data, and anything else kept under digital lock and key.
In a 2021 research paper, Google engineer Craig Gidney and his coauthor suggested that it would take eight hours for a quantum computer with 20-million noisy qubits to factor RSA-2048 encryption.
I know, but still. It's something in the back of my mind. I would rather store DB on a device that's not connected to the internet (usb stick. floppy disk, cd, ...)
with new year pretty close what would you guys rate your 2025
im genuinely curious
cause i think my 2025 was overall solid despite all the stuff that happened but everyone says 2025 sucked
yea id give myself like i think a 9/10
You'll drop the rating when you see RAM prices next year lol
yea i think next yea will drop
i just went through my phone and found what my setup looked like at the start of the year and realised how far iv come this year
I am going to shoot myself if 32 GB of RAM is going to cost more than 50% of PC hardware total cost (although it already does for some brands....)
january vs now
What are we rating, because all 3 are different to me.
id say personal
Technology 1/5. It got totally fucked by big tech and Trump.
agreed with that one
and I just calling a dog a dog here.
And no.
Next year wont drop I think. I posted about it a while back.
everyone thinking asus was gonna solve the shortage proves the average person ahs no understanding of the situation
Nah.
People in here were still on copium while I was posting articles of one after another vendor deciding to leave us in the cold.
and focus on AI companies when it came to RAM.
yea that was a cold but expected move
i hope there money catches on fire and they burn with it
Micron foretold issues untill 2027.
Saw a lot of videos about how Asus was going to save the RAM market and consumers and was like: "Yeah, that's not going to happen" ๐คฃ
there were some but few at first
Expecting corporations to save consumers is worse than trusting the government
But that's just cynical me ๐
that was early this month.
Transcendโs letter describes Q4 price moves of 50โ100% in just seven days, while CyberPowerPC warns that system price increases will likely persist into 2026 unless component pricing normalizes.
Red94 cites Reuters interviews with smartphone makers who warn that handset prices may rise 20โ30% by midโ2026 purely due to higher memory costs.
Red94 cites SK Hynix as projecting that new conventional DRAM capacity will not come online until 2027โ2028, implying sustained tightness until at least 2027. Red94
Doesn't read as; "there is a light at the end of a tunnel".
It reads more like... there is more end of the tunnel at the end of the tunnel ๐คฃ
Thanks for rubbing the salt in the wound Letterdief, I needed that ๐คฃ
At least I managed to upgrade RAM on my work laptop before the RAM craze began
Although I don't follow laptop RAM prices lately
Which if true, will further fuel the tech war untill it spirals out of control and everyone is in isolationism mode.
Not to mention if China invades Taiwan, electronics prices will skyrocket
Fucking AI...
Wish people realized AI is a tool which has it's strengths and weaknesses and it's not some miracle device which will solve all problems
But guess corporations literally think it's some miracle device
Most people believe what AI companies and leaders tell them.
it's snake-oil sold by the rich and powerful.
and since they went all in on it, which is at best a calculated risk, they wont turn back now.
Unfortunately this
I do miss NFTs now ๐
There was a year where every company vowed on NFTS. Like most major game studios had some near years speech mentioning NFTS.
Now it got replaced by AI ๐
Maybe we will go back to times when people didn't have electronics and had to go out and have fun and maybe it's a good thing
atleast NFT didn't mess up hardware market.
But the world will collapse because it's too dependent on technology
Then I lose all my NFT value! ๐คฃ
Oh it will crash. It always does.
And then it blooms for a good period of time.
Since we exist, you can pretty much divide history between "dark ages" and "light ages"
Guess we might see this soon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGhVxTxjS-Y
Deus ex: The Conspiracy Dark Age ending
Ripped from the game itself, by Mr Cyberpunk of the OTP forums
This is from the PS2 version of Deus ex which had cinematic endings and intros instead of in-engine like the PC version.
"When JC Denton destroys Area 51 at the end of Deus Ex, the center of multimedia communication and the Aquinas communication grid, the Internet is disabled and humanity descends into a period of war and economic recession known as The Collapse."
Eh, not sure if it will be a singular event.
Most of the time it's the accumulation of events over years leading to "climax"
when the stars are aligned, we go to war.
when the stars are aligned, we make peace.
and war in the broad sense, economical, culutral, physical, cyber, political, ...
the only accute threat I believe is real atm, is nuclear.
and I mean, threat that is imminent and can fuck the world in a few seconds.
just needs one wrong interpretation and the missiles are send... that's what I believe
it's not mentioned anymore, because I don't think they want to scare us. But that doesn't mean the threat is gone.
Something similar already happened but we were lucky: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_Petrov
Stanislav Yevgrafovich Petrov (Russian: ะกัะฐะฝะธัะปะฐฬะฒ ะะฒะณัะฐฬัะพะฒะธั ะะตััะพฬะฒ; 7 September 1939 โ 19 May 2017) was a Russian lieutenant colonel of the Soviet Air Defence Forces who played a key role in the 1983 Soviet nuclear false alarm incident. On 26 September 1983, three weeks after the Soviet military had shot down Ko...
I feel sorry for the guy because they punished him in the end when he literally saved the world
His subsequent decision to disobey orders, against Soviet military protocol,[3] is credited with having prevented an erroneous retaliatory nuclear attack on the United States and its NATO allies that would have likely resulted in a large-scale nuclear war.
He should have gotten a medal, from every fucking country in the world tbh ๐คฃ
They were like: "We don't care if you saved the world, you disobeyed our orders and that's the only thing that matters"
I haven't looked it up yet. But I heard france also has a nuclear nukes
And most of these countries have this ambigious "if the existence of our country is treatened... then we are allowed to use it."
Which is for interpretation ofc. So they can use it whenever the fuck they want.
Which technically would allow france to take in land, say it's french soil, and if they want to take it back "the existence is threatened" and the nuclear option is on the table.
just got to make sure to take land of a non nuclear country ๐
Hope France doesn't let us carry nukes since we recently bought Rafale from them ๐
Not sure if it's the BF3 version though
It's this situation since the first nukes got developed.
nobody wants to use it, nobody wants to lower the guns, so we have to keep pointing the guns to keep others in check.
It's a situation that's never got solved. We just ignore and live with it.
if solved, all countries would have started to reduce nukes. But instead, we are increasing production.
Not we, but the US.
Oh, you are referring to MAD doctrine but it assumes people are rational
All it takes is some crazy person and we are cooked
I find it ironic that they named it the MAD doctrine
I think ... what I really hoped for was they actually never opened pandora's box.
and never developed nukes. The world, and I mean literally our planet, would have been safer without them.
We already did open pandora's box, it's called AI
Nah, AI is nothing without nukes.
but now if AI really does what we see in the movies, it can take over submarines and launch nukes I guess?
AI is harmless, as long as it doesn't have tools for mass destruction ๐คฃ
but on the bright side, US submarines still updated with floppy disks.
because of no internet, for obvious reasons.
and they can't update the system either, technical difficulties ๐คฃ
My nephew doesn't know about AI since he is a toddler but he is already terrified of Roomba lol
I 100% don't want to be the IT guy that needs to update a nuclear submarine or the weapon system of the nukes itself ๐คฃ
He won't sleep in his bed unless we remove Roomba from the room
"Update failed... Launching all nukes. Have a nice day." - FUCK.
At first, my nephew was curious about Roomba but later developed fear for some reason
Probably because it's loud and it might look like it's chasing you from his perspective
Hard to tell what's going inside a toddler's mind
should put some kids stickers on it, to make it more kids friendly
But he is smart enough to know which remote belongs to which device. If I give him AC remote for TV, he will give it back and look for the TV remote
mhh...
maybe he is so smart, he already knows what's up ๐คฃ
can't trust technology
also might be confused with Bumba and Ruumba.
Probably. At first, he was obsessed with Roomba but he doesn't like it anymore
mhm, I remember reading somethbing about Roomba this eyar.
The company went bankrupt
Yeah
because the competition sells cheaper robot vacuum with better specs
how the fuck did they pull that off.
damn, sounds like a lot of fuck ups and free market at work here!
They had a huge ego and though their robot vacuum is the best when in reality it's just overpriced and competitors can offer the same thing for less
Good to hear. robot vacuum cleaners are still expensive for what a "additional cleaning tool" is.
Most of those robot vendors say you still need to use a regular vacuum cleaner to keep the house thighty.
So it's not even a replacement.
I love it because I despise cleaning under the bed and hard-to-reach areas
But still use regular vacuum for some areas Roomba can't reach
Best combo is robot vacuum + cordless vacuum
Yeah, I still want one. But my current living place isn't suited for it.
I remember when we had an electric lawn mower 20 years ago. I hated it so much because we have a big garden and moving the cable was a nightmare
The robot will struggle ๐
the amounts of time I drove over the cable ๐คฃ fixing it with ductape and piecing the wires together.
this thing is a life safer for fixing the cable ๐คฃ
I drove over a rock hidden in the grass 1 month after buying a new gasoline lawn mower. Damaged the blades ๐ญ
100% not safe for moisture etc.
I also need a robot vacuum cleaner that can handle animal hairs.
I burried a cat 2 years ago.
a year later, goverment called and said they had to dig open the yard for a river.
at the spot where I burried my cat ofc ... =_=
Sorry to hear that
My cat got choked to death by a german shepherd whose owner was a terrible person
I probably shouldn't own pets since there is risk of getting too attached to my pet
the car isn't to blame ๐คฃ
funny story, a while back, I made my first emergency brake.
where the car comes to a full stop and the blinkers automatically go on because it assumed I was in an accident of some sort.
Or made emergency brake.
the reason. a frog on the road ๐คฃ
I went full stop for a freaking frog. Nobody was behind me anyway.
I tried adaptive cruise control on rain once, never doing it again
The car detected "nothing" and applied brakes
Not to mention line assist is a nightmare on curved roads because it thinks you are switching lanes and forces your steering wheel
doesn't suprise me at all
I have a lot of false possitives in my car for collision.
on empty roads.
I try turning all that shit off, the technology is not reliable yet
and I haven't found out what is causing it. Must be light or something.
or certain shapes + contrast + light ...
I hate it turns on everytime you start the car, because mandatory by EU.
still thinking about buying that hacking device.
to hack the car and unlock features and turn stuff on/off permantly.
Btw, my personal mechanic confirmed start/stop feature damages the engine which I suspected from the very beginning. I turn that thing off each time I use my car
So happy to pay 20-40k on a car, that I don't really own, but EU does
The mechanic also said electric cars are very expensive to repair. People fall for the "if it has no moving parts, it's cheaper to repair" bullshit
Not to mention the inverter and battery will go dead after 10 years and you might as well dispose of your electric car
not that, it's all cars.
I replaced brakes on my car 2 years ago and I barely used the car. Went to a yearly inspection and I passed but they mentioned brakes on the left and right side don't brake equally
I was like: "Are you saying my new brakes already have issues?"
Truck drivers are going to be pissed lol
I guess EU doesn't want us to buy brand new cars and use older ones. Because they do everything in their power to make them less appealing.
Especially regarding speed limiter
all implemented btw.
if you buy new car manufactured after that date, in the EU, you will get all those systems mandatory.
you can turn it off, per travel. So car turn on/off = reset again.
I don't think I'll be ever getting a new car again
If I need it for special circumstances, there are apps which let you borrow a shared car
Much cheaper than buying a car which only eats your money
Still thinking about buying older car and fix it up myself.
I might have someone who can help me out with it.
I have 157.000 km on my 16 year old car. It will still last but the repair costs are higher than the fuel cost....
My city is going to buy new buses for free public transport and at that point, I won't be needing a car anymore
They are building a charging station 50 meters away from my home. Pray they put a stop sign near my home lol
Not to mention my city is small and you can get anywhere fast by walking or using a bicycle
Wish more european cities had the amsterdam concept although some are too big for that
amsterdam concept?
I mean, how they designed the city for bicycles
It looks like utopia compared to my country
We will probably never reach that stage (if ever)
but you ever visited it?
No but I am planning to since flight cost is cheap and it's close
And no, I won't be going to the red light district
hehe, curious if you still think it's a utopia after you visited it and been dodging bicycles for a full day.
Oh, like I am not dodging food delivery guys on bicycles already lol
100x worse.
because they all use bikes. So imagine every car, being a bike that can come from anywhere at high speed.
and are 100% pissed off at you, as a pedestrian for not dodging em.
One guy with a bicycle ran into my dad waiting for a green light and just went away without checking if my dad is ok. He is lucky I wasn't there....
Why do bikers think they have right of way...
Welcome to Amsterdam!
This video was filmed at Eenhoornsluis, the bridge where the Prinsengracht canal flows into the Korte Prinsengracht, right next to Haarlemmerplein. For one full hour, you can watch the endless stream of cyclists and locals crossing this historic spot โ a perfect snapshot of daily life in Amsterdam.
๐น Format: 4K UHD ...
Enjoy.
I almost had a collision with a cyclist on pedestrian walkway just around the corner
๐คฃ
There is a reason I call them idiots on two wheels.
No problem
but it has drawbacks trust me.
I really don't like these "let's go 100% this or that ..." reasonings.
"Let's go 100% electric cars, let's go 100% AI, let's go 100% green energy and fuck nuclear ..." all without thinking.
What we need is transition plans and vision.
I think bicycles can be great. But not like in Amsterdam.
in the end you are just shifting traffic from cars to bicycles.
So accidents are bound to keep happening. People will keep dying.
I am probably going to get hit by a food delivery guy on a bicycle at one point considering how dangerously they ride
Already had close encounters

bikes are not a solution
travel will always be a problem for as long as it exists which is likely to be forever
just depends which consequences are best to bear
I hate food delivery services because they reward fastest cyclists and those are usually the ones ignoring traffic rules
Red lights mean nothing to that guy
Also, food delivery services ruined restaurants imo. When they entered the market here for the first time, they attracted customers with cheap prices
But after several years, restaurants became too dependant on them because of larger customer pool and food delivery companies then started charging higher prices because they know restaurants can't survive without their service
Yeah indeed.
a good large meal here now is like 30$ which is insane
5 years ago, you could find a pizza between 4,5 โฌ and 5 โฌ
Now you can't find anything under 12 โฌ
For large cities that is
They are still selling pizza under 8 โฌ in my city but it's because the city is smaller and so are the costs
oh, that also has another reason.
pizza prices are because of Ukraine being under attack.
grain prices went through the roof, and so went pizza ๐
EU reflects the same.
And while the prices did go down, pizza prices stay up ๐ญ
Yeah. History has taught us prices rarely go down once they are up even if the input cost has been reduced
This is a good question for AI.
Bro this is some brainwashed AI shit.
You literal can guide the AI to the answer you want to hear, lovely ๐คฃ
Since it's trained on internet data, it probably hallucinates you need to inject bleach to protect yourself from COVID
Well, that's a fact.
We all know bleach cures covid 19.
I think bleach can even cure life itself
If you kill yourself from poisoning that is
cured is cured.
AI is basically garbage in, garbage out
in the presidents defense, noboby said people needed to be cured AND alive.
lol
That's the conclussion I came too after using it intesively for about a year or two now.
I wonder what the AI model trained on reddit looks like
I tried to be open minded. Implement it in my coding work flow. Or workflow when searching information. Or for learning.
But it keeps failing so much still.
if the thing actually helps me save time, it would be useful but so far it hasn't.
So either I still don't understand how to use the tool. Or like I said earlier today, it's snake oil.
I think people grossly overestimate what it's capable of
Crayon AI also still sucks. It's a free AI so ... ๐
but it doesn't know what dreeaming is. Concept.
It even draws a pig riding a unicorn for some reason ๐คฃ
and a kitten turned into a unicorn.
I think so too, but not everyone agrees with us
Isn't "Hello Kitty" IP? ๐
Hello Kitty, also known by her real name Kitty White, is a fictional character created by Yuko Shimizu, designed by Yuko Yamaguchi, and owned by the Japanese company Sanrio
Wow, he called it an insult to life itself.
I guess it's because AI strongly reminded him of his disabled friend and he felt insulted by that
Yeah he mentions that.
But I have to be honest. I don't fully understand what he is trying to say.
Because what the researchers show, is an AI using a 3D body to move around and it does this in a creepy way. So the researchers conclude that it can be used for a horror game.
Then Hayao brings up his friend that has a disability. And that it's an insult to life that AI does this.
I don't see how they are correlated without trying to be rude to what he feels.
At first I though he would say something that he hopes AI would lead to technology that could actually help his friend.
Not do tricks like drawing or mimick music.
his argument isent really objective but i also cant side with whatever abomination the ai presenters are showcasing
its not unatural movement its a teribbly trained model you made in an hour
Oh yeah I agree.
But the argument of "it can be used for a horror game" isn't that far fetched ๐
I'm amazed it didnt make the text all fucky wucky

I turned my pc off after I got off stream and I tried turning it back on and I ts saying the cpu fan has an error idk what to do can someone help

Alright, I've got an odd diagnostic issue
Case fans spin up and rgb works, but no post and no USB power to rear or front io
GPU fans also spin up but no display output at all
Done the usuals of reseat RAM, gpu, clear cmos, reconnect all power cabkes
I'm going to check rail voltages in a second but if I get nothing there I'm going to assume dead mobo
No lol
Was more just sharing the story, troubleshooting for a friend and have no tools or spare hardware
also check wall power
garbage in, garbage out
wouldn't also be above it being a failed PSU either
it is kinda suspicious that it's unresponsive across the 3.3/5/12v spectrum and not just a single rail
Except the fans and rgb work
And there's no hub
So there's at least 3.3v and 5v to the mobo
Its lga1700 so I just told him to buy a new board
Anyone have actually been successful ripping 4kudh blurays
Got some Christmas money and I think now is the time to buy a drive
ngl i ditched discs before bluray really took off
i did discover recently that one of the inventors of the disc laser also invented the Super Soaker
Depending on the lvl of DRM it's not unlike ripping a dvd
Sometimes you need a specialized reader
The board doesn't have even the diagnostic LEDs?
And you don't have a PC beeper to plug in to get the audio codes?
Could possibly get those out with multimeter voltage measurement mode from the header.
Or possibly resistance mode between the ground pin and ground, as usually the modulation is on the ground side, working by connecting and disconnecting it for PWM.
Yeah, sadly was just socializing at a friends house and had no tools, didn't expect to be looking at a pc
But yeah, no diag tools or anything
So very cheap MB if it didn't even have the four diagnostic LEDs.
Either way, was a super cheap build with an unbranded mobo and a gigabyte bomb psu
I hate people who call themselves "independent" journalists and then post fake news like this....
More like independent idiot
Perfect example of dunning-kruger effect
Jokes on you for still using X
And expecting real journalism on a platform ment for entertainment.
If you want real journalism, go buy a newspaper.
Bold of you to assume newspaper contains real journalism
Better than whatever the fuck that X is.
Can't remember when was the last time I actually read some decent article by a journalist
You can say what you want, but atleast, journalism has some extra steps built into.
X or the internet in general is a platform for everyone, fascists to tree huggers.
And everyone can nilly willy spout more or less nonsense they want.
True sadly.
But do yourself a favor, stop reading social media for your mental health.
Make that your 2026 goal. Unless you do it for the fun and giggles.
Too late, mental heating is already ruined
Speaking of tree huggers, you just reminded me of this lol https://youtube.com/shorts/ieKQngPIizs

Verbal sampling technique for LLMs
Just ask for examples and get much more diversity out of model without additional training, compared to asking multiple times
ok how have i never thought of this as a way to combine driving & flying. scaling this up would be an absolute global transformation
it makes inefficient wheels and inefficient blades/propeller
i mean, yes, but it's also the best combo of both i've ever seen
using the same electric motor for both is something i've never seen attempted before
Doesn't even seem to be using same motors for both.
But separate wheel/rotor guards and then propeller motors inside the wheel spindle.
Instead of just using the propellers as the spokes too and rotating outer edge.
One motor per side for wheels, shared with gearing.
And then one motor per rotor.
So just using the bad wheels as overweight rotor guards.
And that wheel gearing gets busted very fast by any real use, even if switching to light metals.
In that prototype, it is all just 3D printed plastic.
unlikely it will ever be same motor for wheel and rotor
those (seem to be) very different kinds of loads
rc flight channel showed how much efficiency changes for same motor when you change propeller shape... so now imagine changing not just that, but also rpm and torque applied on the motor
wheels go slow and sometimes need a lot of force to go upheel,
rotors go fast and can change rpm rapidly
There is reason why there is always some kind of gearbox between electric motor and ground wheel. Usually just fixed gearing one.
Letting the electric motor to run at much faster RPM than with direct drive.
On the topic f combining technologies... usually it doesn't work.
I am honestly surprised that we got to see CPU being universal,
and that comes with big asteriks:
- it operates on boolean oeprations, with everything possible to be done built around that limitation/concept
- it still uses a bunch of very specific parts to do very specific operations, so in reality it's a swiss knife in disguise
in my small experience with gearbox videos I haven't seen that can optionally change ratio on a the same axis.
my dumb imaginations tells me you need at least 2 gears and that would also reverse direction
Multiple gears, but fixed ratio, single speed gearbox instead of changeable ratio.
In this, for the top wheel, it just goes motor to that small gear, to the wheel inner surface gearing.
Two gears with fixed ratio between them.
For the bottom wheel, it goes to the larger gear under the small one, then through two other same size gears, into that second wheels small gear, to the wheels inner surface gearing.
Where most of that is just to move the force around, and just that small gear to wheel acts as really a ratio changing gearbox.
But usually you have multiple stages, to keep the size down.
How to not do software updates...
In a way that even makes it possible for the vehicle to brick up.
Well that makes two of us then

But for that to even be possible, Ford software engineers fucked up hard.
for anything remotely critical dual boot rom is always the way to go
you 2 step patch
one Rom patch, hard reset on it : it it fails fallback
if it succeed you perform reliability/integrity testing
if that fail fallback
if not you go on with less critical / easily reseted software update with runtime cycling tests

it'll never happen. helicopters already exist and most traffic is not those. and if you've seen how half the drrivers out there operate their cars, you'd know that would be a collosal disaster to put those kinda drivers into helicopters.
Question: since power outage can damage electronics, is it better to install a surge protector in your breaker box or hook up a battery to a solar inverter so you get immediatelly notified when there is a power outage and you can shutdown your electronics properly on time or disconnect them
Every time a power outage happens, I am like: "Great, guess something will stop working soon...."
that was more of a concern in the past as i understand it, but i also never run without a surge protector still to this day.
They're kind of like bike helmets. once they've protected a couple of big surges, they're kind of damaged and don't protect as well after that. (bike helmets should be replaced after any significant impact, not a few).
so you want them in places where they're easily replaceable. but also, some houses do get wired up with surge protectors in the box. those are just more expensive than power strips are.
I have APC surge protectors for my PC and a TV but I would like a "central" surge protector which would protect the whole house
But not sure if backup battery might be a better option
2 kW battery should be enough so I can shutdown everything properly in 1 hour
older electronics would pop the moment they caught any amount of out of spec surge. i think it's mostly fine now a days, though it's still smart to mitigate surges hitting your machines
๐คฃ Bird: not shocked.
i live in a very power outage heavy area. 70 - 100 foot trees are everywhere in this forest, rising high above the power lines. branches and trees fall all the time.
i heard current doesn't actually travel through the wire or something. it goes through the field around the wire
Asablic, it sounds you are looking into seperate things tbh.
backup battery != surge protection afaik.
most apcs come with surge protection too
I wanted to buy this:
Not sure if there is room in the breaker box though
thats a more robost surge protector that would go on a circuit breaker.
i think we're talking about the ones that are power strips that plug into the outlet. while they don't guard against big surges, they're good enough for residential use.
and countries with 240v might want to have a little more protection than countries with 120v
I only have a main rcd breaker and standard breakers for each circuit
I actually prefer that over a power strip since it protects the whole house
it just makes more sense to put protection where electricity enters the house instead of every seperate device in the whole household.
But that's just me ๐
I want a "centralized" product to protect all electronics
Because if you pull that off, you don't have to worry and think about it again when you plug in more devices over the years.
And a backup battery might be good for your NAS etc. Things that don't like it when they are turned off nilly willy ๐
its the varistor component that is what fails after a surge. it doesn't protect anymore after that. i just replace my power strips once a year myself. i'll probably replace it again sooner than a year because this past season was incredibly stormy and we had many power issues.
if it's a RAID nas. usually they're fine if they get interupted power if they're not in a RAID config
It's RAID 1 (mirroring)
Doesn't sound like something I would risk ๐ (but I still need to have a backup myself).
Now I am thinking, is it worth it if I have a backup of my NAS.
Because if my NAS gets bricked, and I got backup in the cloud. I should be fine.
I think power outage might have damaged one of the hard drives in the past. Synology NAS really hates sudden shutdowns
Or NAS in general
I got so lucky. It happened 2-4 times last year because of power outages.
but might be because I put my NAS to sleep when it's not used.
I could set it to backup files on cloud services
I don't think that NAS is backed up in the cloud.
That's what I am about to do in a few days ๐
with AI being trained on his music, kinda sorta
Guess I am going to change my small NAS network name to "Lil NAS X" then

german based cloud service.
Had Baldur help me out when I was searching for a good cloud in EU.
and a decent price.
there is also S3.
And honestly, for piece of mind, 10 euro isn't much.
This might actually be cheaper in the long run than buying SSD and new NAS
Also, I had to buy 2 new drives which failed and that's additional 150 euros
I think we have an online store where you can buy inventory from bankrupt companies. Might check if they have some file server
also, redundancy is key

material maker has a few presets you can download but my PC cannot load ๐คฃ
Trying to take a heightmap, and then slice it into chunks to generate map parts
ah, UE has features for that.
you load in heightmap and can slice it up for partial loading.
I've got some code for that as well, not the partial loading but not hard to add.
partial loading helps with large size maps, not a must
But I wanted to pre-generate certain areas so when I design certain areas I can have that area in blender as a reference.

Gonna focus around having an application context struct that contains user defined application data.
Or at least that's the idea.
Basically
extern AppSetup(AppContext& ctx) // user defined.
void AppSetup(ctx)
{
ctx.resourceLoader += userDefinedResourceLoader
ctx.resourceLoader += userDefinedResourceLoaderAlternative
}
etc...
Gonna have other things there as well, as the ability to add scenes and layers if the application needs it. (e.g editor layer, and in game debug layer)
are there any recent-ish dual full ATX mobo cases?
Don't think there really has ever been one.
I know just ATX + ITX cases in the past.
Corsair not honoring orders for RAM or complete computers, which had been done at older prices, but canceling them.
And YouTube seems to have decided that for me, "Auto" means 360p...
Possibly because of adblocking.
do they still ship good quality only with premium?
at least on mobile i can see that 1080p and 1080p premium
Just single 1080p option for me on desktop in browser.
i hope youtube alt clients are not prohibited to discuss on discord
yes same on desktop
I am almost sure that if original video is at 60fps, there will be duplicated options for HD and higher with 60fps;
on mobile 1080p 60fps is premium
my bet is that it's a .1 cent fine for pulling greedy shit like that
if it's even illegal
I never trusted the auto setting on YT and always set it manually until I got a plugin on desktop or changed app on mobile
EU energy labels for fridges are really confusing. I thought all electronics need to have A class minimum until I looked for fridge labels online
Then I realized they did rescaling which is more confusing because I don't know which new class belongs to the old class....
Wish they used the old one imo
Because back in the days, E or F energy class were considered extremelly energy inefficient
Also, those energy "experts" made a complete confusion when they said a fridge consumes most of electricity and it makes 30% of your electricity bill which is mathematically incorrect if you look at the energy label annual consumption and your total annual consumption
They only make 30% of your electricity bill if you have some really OLD fridge
DeepSeek released paper on their new tech: manifold-constrained hyper connections
If you have that old fridge you probably still have incandescents and then it's still not true ๐
I have a 10 year old fridge but never understood how those experts calculated that 30% of your electrical bill goes to a fridge
Here, experts keep repeating that fridge is the biggest consumer of electricity but my math doesn't add up
My air conditioners consume more in a year than a fridge
Here is a report how much a single AC unit in my home consumed electricity in 12 months
Can't extract a report for multiple units unfortunately
nice to have other means of heating
Yeah
I'm still on purely electric heat and it's terrible
I use gas boiler for heating but plan on totally switching to AC heating when I install solar panels
Because radiator pipes are old and outdated and I don't want to remove new flooring so I can install new pipes
Inverter AC that offers heating is almost identical as using a heat pump
That is a heat pump
I mean, it's 95% the same but there are probably some differences
The differences are marketing ๐
(realistically there are some differences in pressure ratios and condensor/evap sizing)
Heat pumps here have both indoor and outdoor units and they are also connected to fan convectors or wall-mount AC
While a typical individual AC has an indoor and outdoor unit only
I think the keyword is that a heat pump is usually centralized while a standard AC is not. Each unit is an AC itself
Although the way they work is identical
Not really.
Just some weird way marketing works in your country.
They do the same in US
Use "heat pump" to refer to central, forced air heating as a marketing term
That. When they say "heat pump" here, they are talking about a system where you have a central heat pump with multiple units and those units can be air conditioners, radiators or fan convectors
But really heat pump is just that specific type of phase change cooling with a compressor and refrigerant, evaporator and condensor
If you wanted to install a new AC, called your HVAC technician and said: "I want to install a heat pump in my room" instead of saying AC, a HVAC technician would be confused
Or if you wanted to replace 3 AC units in your house and told your HVAC technician you want to install 3 heat pumps, he would be even more confused
Example: When we say "AC" here, we mean on this
But when we say heat pump, we mean this
"ilmalรคmpรถpumppu" for the models that just have air at both ends as the transfer medium in Finland.
ilma = air
lรคmpรถpumppu = "heat pump"
Then for example "maalรคmpรถpumppu" with maa = ground for ones that have the outer unit instead with underground piping of some sort etc.
The main difference here is that a heat pump has an outdoor and inside unit. An indoor unit is then connected to floor heating, radiators, fan convectors, water tank or wall-mount AC or whatever setup you have in your home
At least, that's how marketing works here
ilma-vesilรคmpรถpumppu (air water heat pump) with air outside and water inside.
I guess it's primarily marketing issue here
Yeah, used the generic base name for one very specific version.
So all the others need weird names instead.
I can't install a central heat pump here because I have one-pipe radiator system and they are not compatible
I think a high-temperature heat pump might be compatible with one-pipe system but they are much more expensive
But for languages without combination words, somewhat expected.
When in Finnish you can just slap stuff together and it doesn't end in something weird like the english direct translations.
My heatpump is an outside unit that pipes into two heads in the house
I love it. Way better than AC in the summer and wood burning in the winter
We still got the wood stove set up and maintain it though. Power outages are too common
yea i have 2 of those
Trying out Ubuntu live on USB after a long time:

Or one large USB with multiple OS to run
Never tried Ventoy but guess it can make multi-boot OS USB stick
No
ventoy is good
I am still using a bootable USB I got as a promo gift
Maybe it's time I buy a big one for Ventoy
UwUntu
no, thats another distro
fine for ssds or small hdds. for 3,5" HDDs you need additional power
just get one with usb 3.0 or better
Mine has an electric heater in it to supplement if it's needed. Been performing on the coldest nights just fine
Yea Linux being somewhat usable running off usb is quite nice
Let's test it in Winnipeg
Wouldn't want to live there during winter lol
A.k.a. Winterpeg
Nyarch
Ours have a heatter outside aswell and no drop in temp in -30 last night
Coldest weather I ever experienced was around -22 degrees celsius
Theyre still more efficient. Even if you supplement them with baseboard heat or other sources, it makes those operate more efficiently too
Although that was in 2018 and the average temperatures here keep increasing
I live on the coast so it gets to -15 here but that's worse than -20 in drier higher climates
Coast air is thicker so has more thermal capacity. Wetter so it's less of an insulator
A lot of people don't believe me when I say coast air is different, and then they get out here and realize why we all dress with layers when it's still above zero
I regret not insulating outer walls with rockwool and went with EPS styrofoam instead
The problem with styrofoam is that it won't let the walls "breathe"
I just checked and it looks like Winnipegs utility companies are offering heat pump rebates
We have EU funds for heat pumps but you need to have an energy certificate for your home and your home needs to have a high energy/insulation rating
Because heat pumps are worthless if your home insulation is poor and the air keeps escaping everywhere
I don't understand people who recently built a home and decided to install an AC or a heat pump without even insulating outer walls
Some of them have bricks which aren't even covered by plaster on the outside
I think we recently adopted a law which requires new homes to cover outer walls with plaster or something else in 5 years so you don't see those ugly brick homes
An example of a house in my city where there is no insulation but multiple AC units
Whoever laid the bricks made a very poor job and using multiple air conditioners in a house with no insulation is a nightmare
This gives me a heart attack each time I see this house
And that balcony looks unsafe
I wouldn't want to walk on that....
funniest part about that is that proper outside insulation will save money on both heating and cooling
lower upfront price at the cost of higher operation cost
Literally this
They might have saved money on not insulating the walls but their electricity bills won't appreciate that
If they can't pay so much at once, get a loan and I am sure your monthly payment will cost less than the money you pay for your electricity or gas
idk how many times I've had coworkers talk about EVs, insulation or more efficient heating and every single time they had a calculation for when they broke even on cost
none of them were longer than 5 years
makes no sense to me to build a "forever home" and cheap out on stuff that'll cost you more after only a few years
the only people I've heard speak against stuff like heat pumps were either too poor to buy one ("I would if I could") or politically motivated ("I'm not getting indoctrinated by those greens")
We literally cut our heating costs by 50% when insulating the walls
if you can afford a 400k home, you can afford spending 5% extra to upgrade efficiency
inflation aids those with debt yet somehow debt is a flourishing business
A lot of people around me are so skeptical about solar panels when I mentioned I am going to install them. They won't be laughing soon when electricity prices increase....
Not to mention I will have net metering where you pay utility company only if you generate less electricity than you consume and this model cuts down your electricity bill by 86% which is a lot
sounds like murphy's law
New model from 2026 has no net metering and savings drop from 86% to 55%
Good thing I got permit before 2026 and will use net metering
you don't become a billionaire by being charitable
dang those units are tiny
why does this sound like I'm reasoning against charity and justifying billionaires when my intention was the exact opposite?
Not to mention Gree AC is one of the cheapest chinese AC manufacturers and only poor people buy them
That house owner must be a cheapskate
well, being poor is expensive
not cheap enough to not have AC
you need to be able to afford the upfront cost of the stuff that saves you money in the long run
I have a cheapskate neighbor too and he always brings hvac technicians or tradesmen with questionable qualifications
He recently installed Midea AC and he keeps wondering why our new AC outdoor unit pipes look neat and hidden while his look like a spaghetti monster
I was like: "Maybe pay an actual HVAC technician and not someone who thinks he is an HVAC technician because he watched some youtube videos"
funny how having money makes you less likely to learn financial responsibility
and the cheapest people are often ones with money to spare
We have a saying here: "I am not rich enough to buy cheap stuff"
someone explained to me once that when you're poor, you buy deodorant when yours is empty
and when you have spare money, you buy deodorant when it's on a good discount and store it away until the current one is empty
Btw, hope my neighbor doesn't use Discord but here is his new AC outdoor unit lol
Those pipes look ugly the way they were laid
that looks teriffic and the placement is somehow even worst
A certified HVAC technician would not make that mess
also, a 3 for 2 pack of deodorant may save money overall, but it's still twice as expensive as a single pack, so you still can't afford it
Wish we had a bulk store like Costco here so you can buy more amounts of something and save money that way
And I mean on things you really need like deodorant or toilet paper
Closest thing to Costco here is Metro afaik
This affects so many areas of life
Clothing, furniture, electronics, household goods
Boots theory comes for us all
Buying in bulk for things that matter is amazing
For a cheaper per ounce can of food just because you need it once for a recipe is likely not going to save you money
I mean if it lasts then why not
But sure buying 5kg of tomato sauce to make Bolognese for two isn't the smartest choice.
I buy a lot of stuff bulk or just try to find cheaper deals
Nutella is cheaper on amazon.de than local grocery stores for me lmao.
Not by much, amazon is โฌ8/kg, local is 10
I would say 2 is much at this point
At the rate I consume it, yes
Flying to Egypt today. My first proper trip, 3rd time flying on a plane.
Went to sleep at 2, had to wake up at 3 ๐ซ
And then the flight got delayed for 1.5h
Youi can have brick outside, with insulation on inside of them, then the inner walls.
Which is how it is usually done in new buildings (internal insulation)
External insulation is for cludging older buildings up to code.
And that multiple small ACs gives better per room temperature control, and might even be cheaper than central AC with ducting.
And cavity wall insulation is also very common too.
But based on the brick patterns, that really was built by idiots as some really weird version of solid brick wall, not the "standard" one of that.
Still might have that inside insulation.
The IEA estimates that โspace coolingโ โ mostly air conditioning but also fans โ consumed around 2,100 terawatt-hours (TWh) of power in 2022.
For context, global electricity use in 2022 was around
29,000 TWh. That means AC uses around 7% of the worldโs electricity.4 Thatโs nearly 20% of electricity use in buildings.
Of course, some of this electricity comes from fossil fuels, so AC is also a driver of carbon emissions. The IEA estimates that space cooling caused around 1 billion tonnes of CO2 from electricity use in 2022.
Thatโs around** 2.7% of total CO2 emissions** from fossil fuels and industry.5
I will keep resisting AC as long as I can. They are a solution to a problem (heat). And the "solution" actually feeds the problem further.
What percentage of household use is heat responsible for?
Tell that to @languid gulch . He will kill you since he lives in an oven
Not that the situation here is much better but at least I don't live in the desert lol
My mother would probably die from a heart attack if there was no AC considering how sensitive she is
Not to mention she has problems with circulation, prediabetes and arrhythmia
Ok, but there are other solutions for not dying to heath/cold.
Don't want to ban AC, but I also think the increase of AC in regular households can lead to multiple issues.
for some reason fps limiter doesnt work for me, i just want to reduce gpu load

framelimit with adrenalin?
That's for satisfactory only. (Top left corner).
When enabled you can configure those values.
I know it's not an answer to your question, more of a work around.
But I have no idea why satisfactory isn't respecting the limit you set.
i had a heat pump in the house i grew up in. it worked ok except for when it got really hot. then it didn't work at all, which is the worst option possible
You can also vsync from adrenalin.
Ouch, I would move out to hotel until heat pump is fixed. I have low heat tolerance and even 30 degrees celsisus is a lot
Guess I can tolerate cold temperatures better than hot temperatures
I sometimes use wim hof cold shower therapy and can tolerate freezing water for a couple of minutes
If you survive first 15 seconds of hyperventilating without fainting, you are fine
Wim hof breathing method is also cool. Managed to hold my breath for more than 3 minutes few times
Ugh, I will have to annoy my old college because they didn't enter my diploma into a government digital diploma register....
Or perhaps it's a conspiracy by college deans who have connections with people who have a counterfeit diploma and they want to protect them from being exposed
*puts on tinfoil hat
Friend of mine did a Football Manager stream a couple years back and created a player for every friend of his that was interested.
The game sent that team to a training camp in Pilsen once a year, after and during which the team's performance always tanked
We stay here! Cuz that guy was a gamer gamer
it is, it's a fully MSI computer, everything that could be by MSI is by MSI

this PC is 4 years old, I am due for an upgrade when I get the money
I need to graduate from college first though
I have 1 semester left
I'm going to get a 5070TI and a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 64GB of RAM
that CPU is clocked at 5.4GHz
and the GPU clocks at 3800MHz
Is it bad i dont know ky specs off by heart?
I kinda just built something and it worked
something about my GPU, it clocks the memory clock speed at only 7000MHz, which means an extra 1192 MHz is on the table
I overclocked my GU from 1970MHz to 2070 MHz
I do run the game at 1440P at Max settings though, and I still get 120 FPS
my monitors are both 144Hz
one is 1080p and the other is 1440p and they're both 27inch monitors
not really a point lol
I've talked to optomitrists and they said the human eye is capped at 60FPS
But I run mainly 240
I can see the difference from the ps4 pro that is 60 to the 180 I run on spiderman 2 on pc
Its clear as day
One is sm smooter one is choppy and looks considerably worse
Try VR headset at 60 and 90Hz, the difference is obvious

I'm working on my next Youtube video
For refrence I am an actual credentialed political scientist and economist
I have 4 college degrees
AS in history, and a BS in: philosophy, political science, and economics
Yeah, I have early version of Pimax 8KX which only can do 90. Later models can do 120 with firmware update
I bought my brother the meta quest 3 this year he said its sm nicer on the eyes
120 frames really help apparently
He was on the 1st one
