Just use the MB box instead.
๐คฃ
And then 8500G would give about same performance on IGP side, and 8600G would give about double.
And that 7600X without dGPU would give about same as the AM5 numbers I gave.
Advantage: PC parts stay clean
Disadvantage: no pizza

Again has stock cooler included.
And don't know how much that single-channel RAM would affect IGP performance at start.
right, forgor
but ddr5 8gig is a no no
DDR 5 less than DDR 4 at least
ok for $40 i love this
no
๐คฃ
For 40 yes
oh i mean for me
Oh, the didn't connect any the cables in the picture
8GB DDR5 gives about 10% less performance on RAM bandwidth.
Going single-channel gives 50% less performance on RAM bandwidth.
finnnnnne
8GB vs 16+GB sticks.
didn't notice that. so what you save in case cost you'll spend in custom cables
Also, that 8600G with double IGP size costs 24e more.
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/user/jennytime9/saved/qwYJmG im leaving enough to fate rn just to get a concept before choosing actual parts

A power board would be great for this
also, it removes the annoyance of nerds telling me what cases and psus are bad
just realized that a case config like that would be super sexy with the new reverse socket mobos coming out
litterally just stole my words
how dare you
๐คฃ
Yeah, but anyways, going even with just 1x8GB at start would be ok start.
Then add second identical stick once you can.
Going with 1x16GB and then adding second identical stick would be better.
yea, there is such a thing as going too cheap
budget is 570 and we are around 450
That 8GB of RAM+VRAM will cause issues as save grows of course, so 1x16GB or 2x8GB allows to run for longer before problems from that.
With 2x8GB giving about 180% RAM bandwidth compared to 1x 16GB, but 90% of 2x16GB.
shoosh
i'd rather you pay โฌ5 more now than have to pay an extra โฌ40 in like a month
also here
for like 20 more
any other fusses?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 8600G, Montech AIR 100 LITE MicroATX Mid Tower
780M igpu beats the GTX1650
That is the 12CU part, 8600G has 8CU, 8500G has 4CU.
But still about 66% of that, and is useful performance.
knocks it down to 1050 territory
but yea, great for an igpu
just terrible vs dedicated
But playable for Satisfactory, and can then at some point get dGPU.
definitely
Still contains that cooler, yes, that is better than the stock one, but stock one does work, just noisy at load.
MB might limit to using 120W TDP max CPUs, but that does include 7800X3D and 9800X3D, at least without top-down cooler like the stock AMD one.
Officially supports all up to 170W TDP, but the VRM might not actually allow running those at full load.
Gigabyte has 4 different revisions of the "same" MB, not going to check for differences.
SSDs are always up for debate, but in this case even cheapest QLC is usable, even when they aren't good.
Would need to look lot closer to see what would be good deal right now.
Case is at least ok, again, would need to closer look and cases are lot about personal preference.
And still that point that you can run without case if no free pets.
PSU is almost certainly crap, but will work for at least a time.
There was that tier list posted earlier to help choosing PSU.
And that 450W and even much lower is ok without dGPU, but that 450W would limit dGPU selection later.
Large enough MB revision differences that they have separate product pages, for small production changes they are shared, when actual specs don't change.
Ok, on the actual spec listing only difference is higher RAM speeds on newer revisions.
But the exact selections should be done inside few days of the actual buy anyways.
Actual selection, im presuming, will bring it up by like 20-30eur but that should work fine

Better MB.
SSD is HMB with TLC-NAND with either Phison E13 or SM2263XT controller, so ok IMHO.
For PSU, that yesterday linked site that combines PCPartsPicker prices and PSU Tier list gives following recommendations for PSU, for cheapest 550W and 650W units:
C- tier:
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/XrDnTW/montech-apx-550-w-80-certified-atx-power-supply-apx-550w
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/hcbypg/montech-apx-650-w-80-certified-atx-power-supply-apx-650w
C tier:

https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/8LNxFT/msi-mag-a-bn-650-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-mag-a650bn
C+ tier:
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/NJzFf7/adata-xpg-pylon-550-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-pylon550b-bkcus
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/LWYQzy/adata-xpg-pylon-650-w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-pylon650b-bkcus
Where that C+ tier 550W Adata XPG would be 41e.
That current Deepcool PF500 isn't on the tier list at this time.
55e for 650W Adata XPG Pylon.
That C- tier Montech 550W would be 38e.
https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/ explanation of the tiers in expandable part near top.
B- tier stuff starts at 80e.
Ah, that other site had somewhat different tiers, in the lower down on the page:
https://cheesysponge.github.io/psuTierSorter/tierAccess.html
Search for a specific PSU on SPLs tier list. Open-source and built for PC builders.
i will never not be amazed that you can recite all this off the dome
I didn't recite off my head, did lot of checking after that question was posted.
That DeepCool PF-series is E-tier on that SPLs PSU tier list.
it's technically not hard after a few times.
yh, didnt actually bother to check lmao
hmmmm
Yeah, but when that 550W C+ tier Adata XPG Pylon is 41e, wouldn't go for anything less.
With that 650W one for 55e.
c?
Yeah, that one, that other list then does subdivisions, C-, C, C+.
So 38e for that C- Montech APX 550W, and 41e for C+ Adata XPG Pylon 550W.
dang my school fixed game streaming rip lol
but at least you cant really run out of VRAM on the IGP
unlike on a 1050/1650
When that D tier 450W PSU was 35e
guess im back to sniffing glue and bitchign about having 30 minutes of battery life
hรค
honestly its not even the battery life thats the worst part its the fact it takes 10 minutes to launch any decent game
which is absurd on a m.2
i dont think its the m.2
plus
you can technically run FSR 4 on it : D
technically
no ik its just cpu instability but still insane and unbearable
a cpu hitting decimal value MHZ isent exactly gonna be responsive

YouTube marketing is wild
"Try nicotine pouches for 10 days for free and then we'll give you a bunch more at a discount"
And it's framed as a "challenge"
That is... so incredibly brain dead
And also a disgusting move for somebody to even market that for a company... If you aren't already addicted to nicotine just avoid it like the plague, trust me.
Yep
For that matter nicotine itself isn't even really dangerous, it's on par with caffeine and in fact both are similar in other ways.
But most methods used to get the nictotine have proven to be very problematic.
smoking tobacco being extremely bad... but orally has caused mouth cancers
Caffeine is more regulated than nicotine patches, interestingly
Yeah
But yeah nicotine on it's own isn't even incredibly addictive... about like caffine
In tobacco though there are other compounds that increase it's addictiveness
an MAIO
Combine them and it's now super super addictive
Caffine is also quite addictive in the right circumstances (also gets more so when combined with other compounds)
from caffeine level to heroin level heh
Fun
yeah
so far vaping it is the safest
i mean that method has been used to get meds into lungs for ages with no problems
Problem is ultimately it's just a monkey sink, you don't relaly get anything from it
If you need a stimulant caffine is far more convenient
And it's also still far from safe
I must say I do enjoy a nice cigar from time to time... but the prices are so high these days
I don't smoke gas station bullshit heh
And vape is essentially unregulated and has problems with dangerous cheaply produced products
Now I'm getting advertised an investment app that automatically mirrors politicians stock moves
The manufacturers here have been mostly fine
There was one company that had a big issue because they were using titanium dioxide as a coloring to give it a milky white appearance
and uhhh yeah shouldn't be inhaling that...ever
Wet and vaporized it might even be fine problem is that hasn't been studied and we already know just breathing it in is very bad
Yeahh
The real question mark is the flavorings honestly
the glycol bases have been used for that same thing for decades
And as long as your kanthal isn't overheating, which is normally shouldn't, you won't be offgassing metals from the coil
most resistive wire used goes from totally safe to throwing out some pretty nasty gasses just chock full of metal atoms
past a certain temp
That's why that 2009 FDA study is worthless... they were testing "dry hit" conditions. I'd expect the exact result they got. Nobody sits there puffing on their vape 1000 time back to back to back...
i'm yet to see inhaling literal smoke as "safe"
it's burned byproducts
other than it looks similar lol
nothing is birning in a vape bro
if it's functioning normally there is no borning
no combution
no smoke
if it's a foggy morning do you just... assume there's a massive fire?
or do you realize who that's water vapor not smoke
does it... choke you out?
exactly...
my mother is allergic to cigarette smoke
guess what... she can sit right next to somebody vaping no problem
weird...weird
it's almost like it's...not the same!
you proud of yourself?
no dude sorry
but
acting like vapor is the same as smoke is fucking bone headed on new level man
had to read, last i heard the heating element scorched the liquid
like that demonstrates even a basic understanding of science heh
no it... boils is basically
and if the wire does get too hot it CAN offgass... metals
but that rarely ever happens espeically in current year with the stuff they use now
also you will hit a dry vape ONCE... trust me
you won't hit again until you're sure it's wet because it hurts the back of your throat man
not a vaper, so 0 issues there
and it tastes disgusting
like a burned atomizer tastes worse than a cigarette lol
way way worse
Even back when the tech was terrible I had maybe... 3 bad dry hits ever
Some stuff now it's virtually impossible to happen because it's temp controlled, as soon as the temp start to shoot up it'll just lower the power or shut off entirely
But just like the pouches or anything else if somebody isn't hooked on it already just avoid it, there's nothing good to be gained.
100% safe or not doesn't even really matter, it's just going to waste money heh
smoking is def in the top 10 dumbest things i've ever done in my life... and i've done a lot of really dumb shit
allright
lets see
do i crash ?
If I turn all that on I go from playing a video game to watching a slideshow
YES I FIGURED OUT A THING
begone economy cores i dont want makign a bunch of extra heat
it already feels so much more responsive not having 6 cores raming the clocks down to decimal MHZ values lmao
not running performance mode and im on battery power but 50C is promising
seems promising
last time i tried PT on cyberprank i had 15GB+ VRAM usage
now im down to 8
density is the only thing that isnt maxed (well if we ignore SR)
everything else is maxed
including PT/RT
If you use any of these NPM packages. You might be f'cked.
www.aikido.dev/blog/npm-debug-and-chalk-packages-compromised
The packages were updated to contain a piece of code that would be executed on the client of a website, which silently intercepts crypto and web3 activity in the browser, manipulates wallet interactions, and rewrites payment destinations so that funds and approvals are redirected to attacker-controlled accounts without any obvious signs to the user.
Oh that's great
The concern with those isn't so much me using them directly as them being somewhere way down my dep tree
thoughts?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 9900X, GeForce RTX 5080, Deepcool CH260 MicroATX Desktop
That is that 9900X that is bad buy for gaming, and somewhat bad buy for work.
9800X3D for gaming, 9950X for CPU intensive multithreaded work, 9950X3D for both.
So the budget wasn't this?
Probably another dreaming list.
it is
Oh, ignore me then.
Not off enough for me to care and to try to drill down more for dreaming list.
the price difference is holy shite
fair
Point is that for gaming system, you want 9800X3D, not the dual-CCD parts.
And for actual work, the extra 4 cores on the 9950X(3D) pay themselves back pretty quickly, so no reason to use 9900X(3D).
Who uses MiB
I see it quite a bit...
tech companies
ffs. Just use GB as every normal human.
GiB then.
uhhhhhhhhh
See now it's a matter of perspective
Not GiB. GB.
And that first would be weird as GiB.
you're the unusual human to them ๐
GB can mean power of 10, or power of 2 at this time.
And when the actual stuff is mostly power of two where Bytes are used.
YK, GiB is actually the non-norm - people started cooling KB 1000 so we had to rename the KB to KiB
So GiB would be the right unit.
yh
more matter of fact by the way computers work
Look it's everywhere. It's all I am saying.
Then suddenly somewhere starts throwing GiB's, MiB's at me. It is confusing ๐
Windows is using them wrong.
Windows is showing GiB and TiB, but labeling as GB and TB.
Windows can't be wrong.
So how many MB is a GB myguy
You were going to come across it sooner or later
please noooo
Surprising it took so long really...
Officially GB would be 1000000000 Bytes.
While GiB is 1073741824 Bytes.
Somebody who is used to mibi will tend to use that..
This is just part of them. Aren't we going a bit too crazy here?
Gi is 2^30.
G is 10^9.
yes you know that number off by heart... why?
No, had to calculate.
phew
I ran something once that used that system almost exclusevily, I just found it annoying but that's because t's not what I use and i had to figure out what it equated to
Basically computer people started to use the closest SI prefixes for power of 10:s for computer stuff with power of 2:s.
Until HDD manufacturers started to use power of 10:s because that inflated the sizes.
And then the stuff got so messy that those official power of two prefixes were added.
I am so blessed we have AI for this shit.
To convert Mebibytes (MiB) to Gigabytes (GB), you can use the conversion factor where 1 MiB is approximately 0.001048576 GB. For example, to convert 10 MiB, multiply by this factor to get about 0.01048576 GB.
Yeah this was way before AI unfortunately
Like if I didn't know that I had to multiply by 0.01048576 omg... I would be so lost.
It was a minor thing, but the point is it was an extra step I had to stop and do to continue.
doesnt work like that
The moment we need to use converers, something is not efficient.
it's /2 till you get the lower number you want or x2 till you get the higher number you want

Local news claims: this GPU will be released.
Comment section claims: this GPU will not be released and is modded to 128GB.
So kB used to mean 1024 Bytes (2^10), but was unofficial use.
Officially in SI system kB means 1000 Bytes (10^3), KiB is explicitly 1024 Bytes (2^10).
And so on with MB being 10^6, MiB being 2^20, GB being 10^9, GiB being 2^30, TB being 10^12, TiB being 2^40.
Blame the HDD manufacturers during 90s for this fuckup.
MS is still using power of two in those screens, but still using the old style unofficial units, which are now mess.
Like imagine if we had a measurement system and suddenly somebody starts counting in different measurements. Like feet. And miles. Can you imagine that confusion?
k so why dont they double it
you looked at power consumption?
Maybe heat. Not sure.
This is source;
But everyone was using the same "perversion" of SI system prefixes in computer space, until the HDD manufacturer marketing departments switched and stuff went impossible to know.
And now software people in various parts still haven't updated to the new explicit units.
So when you see MB, GB, TB etc. you cannot know how much that is, unless you check the often hidden or subtext spec on which one is being used, power of ten SI, or power of two legacy computer.
another 12 volt high failure rate connector then
And Windows is currently on the wrong side, using the SI prefixes for power of two units, like we were still in early 90s.
i use arch btw
Arch is wrong.
That new spec for power of two prefixes was standardized in 1999.
Apple is wrong. But some random screenshot of a 5090 using MiB is right ๐ญ
RAM and VRAM are still in power of two in all cases, even those 24GiB dies.
Yeah, windows is all over the place and most of the time wrong xD
Same with Flash.
HDDs are only place where power of ten can be the actual implementation for the size.
your punishment is public execution by hanging
Everything else on computer tech is powers of two.
The short answer is powers of 2 are easy for electronics and powers of 10 are easy for humans.
Bamn. In a nutshell.
For people working in IT: binary/SI
For people using Tech: decimal
A bunch of geeks saying it has to be this. And a bunch of humans looking at it and saying nah, too difficult for my head ๐คฃ
And point is, that writing kB (1000 Bytes), when you mean KiB (1024 Bytes) is just wrong, and confusing.
Did I ever say anything else? That's a point you making to... I don't know who.
Most people still do it for everyday use
the saying "we could never do that" now means "i couldnt do that"
Yeah, and MS is using it wrong in most places, still, even after 25 years of actual spec.
All I said; this is confusing. And please stop (the world) making simple thing complex
Like kilometers and miles. FFS. We had one unit. Just take it. Don't create something different because you can for no reason.
you're welcome
Atleast here there is some logic ๐
We also bastardized the Kings english...
No, that's just English/American people being stubborn
But still, once you need a convert that gives you 20-30 options, you could start to wonder if we aren't makings things overcomplex.
again... you're very welcome ๐
Then again, IT people like things harder than it should be ๐คฃ
It was nothing really... not even an inconvenience
To show off big brain or something.
We had things "simple" by repurposing the standard prefixes as there wasn't actual powers of two standard.
Then marketing fucked that simple state to get higher numbers for same hardware and stuff got complex.
And it is still complex, because even after 25+ years, software and people still haven't switched to the new standard.
we did get a chuckle when we got to the whole inches and feet thing
Microsoft is really to blame for this then.
it was a real side splitter in the moment lemme tell ya
I was thinking; kinda funny how Microsoft is used in professional work environments?
Would you use tools in a car repair shop, that weren't using the correct measurements etc?
eh my friend works for a large IT company they use MS shit
they all run around with surface notebooks... use all their stuff internally
really the tools don't matter as much as the brain behind it anyhow
MS Surface devices... Exist.
Some interesting ideas, but mostly overpriced garbage
I'll use a wrech to tighten or loosen a bolt.. a monkey might use it to beat it's own testicles... ya know
But lot more in the History section about the whole clusterfuck.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_prefix
A binary prefix is a unit prefix that indicates a multiple of a unit of measurement by an integer power of two. The most commonly used binary prefixes are kibi (symbol Ki, meaning 210 = 1024), mebi (Mi, 220 = 1048576), and gibi (Gi, 230 = 1073741824). They are most often used in information technology as multipliers of bit and byte, when express...
But to use a OS, that doesn't even show the data in correct format (MiB) doesn't give me confidence, for professional environment.
now im picturing a monkey with a "monkey wrench" beating it's own balls with it
It does, just not in the most prominent places
Well maybe but either way it's the best way for that company to do what it needs to do honestly
Professionals know.
And MS is afraid that adding the "i":s will confuse normal consumers too much.
Almost certainly same with Apple.
Everywhere I look it says GB, TB etc.
them switching to another OS would be far worse
That's dumb logic.
"Hey man, you ruler seems off..." - "Oh I know, just add 0.5 to everything" ...
Yes, but when you check the exact details, and calculate the size from bytes, you see that MS is still using powers of two, and not powers of ten.
They also need everything foled in... laptops, phones, tablets yada yada
It's not the professionals who should know it. It's not their responsibility, let me phrase it like that.
MS should just do it.
They fucking switched their whole startmenu, to the fucking center.
If their consumers can handle that, they can handle a little i being added. To MiB, GiB, TiB.
My friend actually, generally speaking, likes the system
Yup, MS should have done it long long time ago already.
Brain dead end users often cause issues but that's not the systems fault
Microsoft have done more drastic things than that.
Microsoft will do what they want to do. And find excuses for what they don't want to do.
And user input, has little to do with any of the two. They just do whatever the fuck they want. Same for Apple.
they had a stretch way back of bad press because... well windows was pretty fuckin unstable tbh
Always said 95 as shipped was a mistake and they should have bit the bullet and migrated it all to NT right there heh
So didn't really help.
would have avoide ALL of that
So seems no way. Not even a toggle. Or registry. Or pro feature.
Yeah, would need edit to language files.
User; "Hey I got this problem with your OS"
OS maker; "Install this 3rd party tool"
๐
I don't use them anymore because i don't really care or need the features but there are plenty of file explorers that blow the baked in one out of the water
or at least used to be... surely there still are
Most of those "helpers" aren't even MS employees, like this one explicitly states as the role.
like being able to open an FTP site and just drag files into it like it's a drive
I know. I don't know where they find these people.
well you didn't even have to open it... t would connect if you tried to copy there
And the worst part is that those official helpers don't even have avenues to report stuff to actual MS people...
All I know is that "I am Arnold and I am here to help you" is a warning to get out asap.
Apple isn't better.
And this is also stupid imo.
Does english have a concept of 1st and 2nd line? Like the flow of calls when you call a callcenter?
Look they gotta figure out a way to save a few more nickels to line their pockets with
๐
"First line" is the first person you speak too that will tell you to turn it on and off.
"Second line" is the second person you speak too, that will try to help you more and goes indepth etc. It's an escalation of help depending on if they can fix it or not lol.
Anyway, first line feedback is so valueable for developers and a team.
MS scrapped all actual internal help people.
And externalized some, with no actual contact from those companies to inside MS.
Nice, a bubble.
Only current actual feedback to in theory to MS has to go through the "Feedback Hub" reports.
But they only read the stuff with lot of upvotes.
So actual problems get swamped and never seen.
was it public feedback hub? Like satisfactory forum/QA I believe?
Program installed by default in all Win10 and Win11 computers.
So blackbox. You put in your thing and poof that's it.
I like public more, you can look up issues, add extra comments to it. Upvote it.
You sometimes can see that it got picked up by a teammember of the company.
Basically like the QA site, but in app instead.
But basically as everything ISN'T monitored, only issues that affect lot of consumers actually get seen.
Enough for people to open the app and find suitable post.
For example that camera fuckup many years back where lot of webcams etc. stopped working after update was reported on that Feedback hub multiple months before from Insider branch people, but it didn't get visibility, and wasn't noticed by MS people.
And MS doesn't even care I think.
The less they have to deal with "plebs" the better it is so they can make the features they have in their head. (At this point, put AI into everything)
Lower levels might care, but the people deciding don't.
Yeah lower levels out of the picture here.
They just do whatever they are ordered to do. But I mean, peeps that make the descisions.
We got the order once to actually start making more connections with consumers and gather more direct feedback.
At one point, the company send out a team on the streets to interview people about the product/app.
not sure how a boxed version works but back in the day windows issues were pc makers issues
they just passed the buck on all support to the pc maker
Basically drop internal QA, externalize that to prosumers (on Insider branches) and consumers, and then put up bug report system, but don't monitor that either...
And it's not hard for Microsoft to find users ๐คฃ
Pretty sure direct support from Microsoft is a unicorn that shits rainbow ice cream and farts glitter
Apple has direct support. But they are like AI.
Yeah AI works perfeclty im sure
where was it that rolled that out... mcdonalds or some fast food place
somebody ordered a medium soda and it's asking what they want to drink with that
so someone finally notices that AI is just a buzzword for computers that act like drunk people?
or somebody ended up with like dozens of drinks on the order
No.
ok then nevermind
I have a hard time wording it.
I am sure there is a word for it.
But AI is very slimy, pleasing, "omfg, that sir, is an AMAZING idea!" ...
and Apple support is also kinda like that. Way too friendly. Sleezy?
ai summaries summarize like a person when drunk
"I'll take a medium coke"... "what would you like to drink with that?"
or... better watch wording i said take...
south park recent episodes are about the AI being... a suckup. a pleaser.
"I'll take a medium coke"... -AI calls cops for theft
It's just a mind trick they play on you.
dont forget intel too
they pull up the most irrevlant forum support things or whatever the fuck they call them
what was that other one... somebody ended up with bacon in their coffee
So yeah.. AI really is like a drunk person lol
that sounds like pure aids to use
Genuis!!
its an extra 33% effort each time
They probably ordered bacon and coffee and AI was like welp guess they go together SHRUG
Maybe the AI is actually really really smart and it's just fuckin with us... o.O
So no MiB GiB TiB?
but it is the standard

I came from Katowice to Warsaw to visit my friends. I am interested in automation and robotics, so I was very excited to see the robot in the Zabka store chain that prepares hotdogs on its own. On the spot, I happily started recording the hotdog making process for a keepsake. I was hoping for a delic...

I should install the app on an old phone I don't use, create a proton email and then use it to sign up for temu just to see if I'm going to start receiving spam
Might as well use burner sim card
Because a lot of people claim they started receiving spam and scam calls as soon as they installed Temu and signed up
well yea obviously
when your information is out there against your will its just a matter of time before someone exploits it
you make me proud, that you use proton. Hell yeah ๐ค

Which had a little bug. haha

what you want of a 2 factor authentication app ๐
Ouch
Yup. It was brand new product. For context.
So debug functionality left in the final release by mistake.
Yeah, for iOS. Shit happens. Still not the best.
Better prevent. Especially with a new product.
You want to win over people, not turn em off.
But fixed quickly afaik.
i aprove of this
All hackers; "ah c'mon man, why do you have to fix this" ๐คฃ
Remember when Google Authenticator didn't have "backup codes" option a while ago? It was a nightmare when you got a new phone or had to do factory reset....
They should have added that option from the start imo
serious?
I been resetting/contacting support for a day after I got my new phone.
yeah
I think they added that 2 or more years ago
Because it didn't have the freaking back up codes ๐
And my old phone just died. So no access. It was not a pleasant experience.
Almost moved to other authenticator app because of that
I've been mailing, with one company, for two months!
They replied once a week. With stuff like; "What is your name again?"
Next week; "And your e-mail?"
Trying to force people to use their Google Account as the backup method.
Next next week; "What is your bank account?" ๐คฃ
Which kind of defeats the purpose of authenticator.
After 2 months, I got my account back. But I emailed them; all good. Rather that you do a good check then just take away 2FA off my account ๐
After it, I contemplated to remove 2FA (app) alltogether. Or switch to mail 2FA.
Wait till they ask you for an ID number and you give them a different one because you recently renewed an ID
At one point, I was a bit sus, because they asked weird questions.
And it was a russian company.
I think they moved their base of operation, not sure.
And they will be like: "Sorry, your ID number doesn't match, guess you'll be locked out of your account"
And even worse was when another one asked me my secret questions.
That I filled in 14 years ago ๐คฃ
"What was the name of your first pet?" "What is your favorite game?" (this one had me pull my hairs out, I really couldn't remember what my favorite game was back then).
I was mad and tried to explain that you renew ID card here every 5 years and obviously get a new ID number but they didn't care....
Yeah, or I should switch to proton authenticator but yeah ...
not fun losing access to 2FA.
Btw, our company outsourced SAP procurement support to India and I feel like those guys used AI to interpret what I am asking them to do...

Time to start looking for new employer then.
Maybe in a year or two....
plot twist; they all want AI now ๐คฃ
Either the project is scrapped, and more cuts made to pay for new attempt.
Project is kept going, and more cuts made to pay for the overruns.
Or the project is put into use, and is so horrible that no sane person stays in the company, and the company goes under with time.
They won't fire me because the whole department would fall apart if I quit or left and my superior (he is great btw) would be overloaded with work
No one is unmissable. Or not replaceable? ๐ค
The amount of time i heard people say they are "not replaceable" on their job, then started to act superior* and get yeeted out ...
You could try impersonating ai
I am replaceable but you would need someone to know everything from the first day and that's impossible. I learned how to do my tasks through years
"Wow, that's an amazing idea. I really like that. Let's go over that."
Point was to start looking, so you can actually select a good place during those couple of years.
And don't have to jump ship at minimal notice.
Don't stay for your superior though ๐
Hired.

The answer is -15.
Would you like fries with that?
Fair. Not your fault if the company does not provide solutions for knowledge transfer. What would happen if you had an accident and wouldn't be able to make it into office for 6 months?
If they really want.
Hired. As I said. Hired
Big trouble ๐
@visual tree Not disrespecting what you have done to get to whatever position you are at. But I've seen managers get fired in the middle of a project.
Me and the team were just standing there after our lunch, with no clue what was going on besides that his desk was empty.
a few hours later a manager-manager, I don't know, someone important, came down and told us he got fired.
They pointed to someone else, our lead and told him. You got it untill we find someone new. And on we went. The benefits of a self sufficient team.
We did have a scrum master to help out.
My projects are a little tricky since they are important government projects and abandoning them would mean bad public reputation for the company
It was a goverment project too.
We were handling the database of a big goverment project. To find jobs etc. Employement.
Seems that asablic is the only competent person in the department, unofficially above the rest of the peons, but under lowest level manager, or something like that.
Basically indispensible, but only that lowest level manager knows that.
Pretty common occurance.
Yup.
Would 100% fuck em over though ๐คฃ But still a corporation decision.
That was the point on that the closest manager knows, but the higher ups probably don't or might not just care.
Oh, we have a lot of competent people in the department but every person is an expert in their field and if someone quit, there would be a huge disruption since it's very difficult to find a replacement
They look at numbers on a paper or screen.
I wouldn't trust it man.
Don't quit either, but just know it can always happen. Never say never.
At least the benefits are nice

was after the rebuild of wo2. dude was kinda old ๐
haha, I know a ex mechanic of the army ๐คฃ
I could also do communications in military

What method are you using to get those loaded?
Task Scheduler or something else?
Because the old method of using Startup entries under Start Menu folders has been depricated for a long time.
Hello off-topic-tech. Me and baldur have agreed on this to be the cheapest build which uses the am5 platform, ready for a low end GPU and can play satisfactory. Anyone here have anything to say against it?

That was why I asked about if using the legacy depricated method(s), or Task Scheduler that allows you to manage if you need the task to start right away, or delayed.
But basically the idea is to delay as many of startup tasks to only happen after desktop is usable, and spread them out so that the system keeps itself responsive, even on bad systems.
Not actually needed on high-end systems, but still the default.
No, traditionally it was all at same time, as soon as possible.
Except Windows Services explicitly marked as delayed start.
It can have been thing for long time already, but not always.

small question
its super hard to make hdds corrupt right ?
since the data is stored on the disk
Depends.
Bit rot happens over time if stuff isn't read from time to time, so that the drive automatically rewrites it when getting too faint.
Both classic magnetic drives, where that magnetic alignment is lost over time.
And with SSDs where the charge stored in the FLASH cells leaks out.
Expected time range to actual bitrot is few years from writing, if not rewritten in meantime.
good
our pc kinda ran into a crash mid bsod
and im worried that we loose the hdd data
Almost all should be fine even if file system metadata was being written.
But any data that was being written at right that moment when BSOD and/or crash hit can be lost.
๐
I've corruped my nvme like 8-12 times in the same day
well, hopefully nothing got corrupted
quick to fix but easy to do
As in whatever small part was being written at that point and hadn't made it to the disk yet.
The actual file system metadata is AFAIK journaled even with NTFS now.
BL4, yes please gimme FSR 1.1
Most are set as a startup app under services
Could be that a few are in the startup folder, that might be it
theres a way to downgrade from windows 11 to windows 10 right?
Probably not?
Without full wipe and fresh reinstall.
Except in 30 days after upgrading.
And not sure that exists for Win10 to Win11 inplace upgrade.
"full wipe" of the C: partition
full wipe of any partitions you remove during setup and whatever drive the os is on
So . for this for others to check the list one final time.
For actual buy soon it seems?
Coded a little in Vue.js today. Must say, at this moment, it's a bit more easier for my brain than Angular.
less boilerplate code and more; get it to work.
you can just import a .json and return it in the data() function. and with a v-for inside <div> element show the data. Without any other shenanigans.
`@JsonComponent
public class MyJsonComponent {
public static class Serializer extends JsonSerializer<MyObject> {
@Override
public void serialize(MyObject value, JsonGenerator jgen, SerializerProvider serializers) throws IOException {
jgen.writeStartObject();
jgen.writeStringField("name", value.getName());
jgen.writeNumberField("age", value.getAge());
jgen.writeEndObject();
}
}
public static class Deserializer extends JsonDeserializer<MyObject> {
@Override
public MyObject deserialize(JsonParser jsonParser, DeserializationContext ctxt) throws IOException {
ObjectCodec codec = jsonParser.getCodec();
JsonNode tree = codec.readTree(jsonParser);
String name = tree.get("name").textValue();
int age = tree.get("age").intValue();
return new MyObject(name, age);
}
}
}`

new $1400 iphone has a usb 2.0 port
Wut
How
I don't believe this disinformation
That's been the case on lots of phones for ages
I personally dislike it but honestly very few people use it nowadays
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 6900 XT, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Lian Li V3000 PLUS ATX Full Tower
is't a non-pro apple, of course it does
i just find it laughable that they couldn't be bothered to do a connection that's been around since 2008
I'll probably get the next iphone after this one... it'll be about that time
Eh, nothing wrong with using stuff that lasts long
You breath in ancient o2, you speak language that is quite old (though it evolves... Skibidi), you yourself wasn't born yesterday
unless you are trying to transfer a bunch of files it doesn't matter anyhow.. and most people don't do that
also considering even the pro max is 1200... it's not 1400 and the pro max has 3.2 sooooo
you aren't entirely accurate there...
also so tempting to click buy
lol but no
"Leave the trillion dollar corporation alone!!"
it probably costs them more to source reliable usb 2 chipsets than just using a single stock pile of usb 3 chipsets for all models
it's just hilarious. the new line of iphones are a clear step backwards. as usual. they'll add back the capabilities they took away and use that to justify the price increase
no im saying it's silly to worry about since almost nobody cares if it's 2.0 or 3.x in practice
nor will it matter for them... ever
so it's a bit nitpicky mostly people that don't even use them seem to care lol
you're saying you can't find anyone upset about the new models having a deprecated port? oh. okay.
either way it's not 1400 and the 1200 one has 3.2 anyhow, so my point stands that the situation was not even being portrayed accuratly to begin with
how is it depreceating?
i can't copy files faster? how does that fucking mater almost nobody does that man
even i arely need or want to do that and i have a massive storage in my phone
the data rate is... who give a flying fuck
i could just as easily say oh look another thing for andoid users to cry about apple about
see.. ๐
and if you try to trell this to 99.9% of the people buying them their eyes are going to just gloss over
im mroe upset by the change to usb-c than any speed
having a proprietary port in 2025 makes no sense
cause usb-c is too underregulated and no cable has a minimum requirement to function in all the advertised scenarios
that is the one thing i don't like about my iphone, it was the year before the switch
so i have to have a cord just for that...
buying a usb-c cable is a lootbox
you either get one that works or one thats data only or one that dosent and theres nothing about that that has to be specified to the consumer
there are more faulty iphone connectors made by 3rd parties than standard breaching usb-c connectors
I've had very few problems with cables
but i don't just shop the cheapest thing they have and stick with something i've at least heard of
usb-c standards are open for anyone to adopt. apple keeps theirs under lock and key so 3rd parties have to hack around the secrecy
when i upgrade phones im tossing this charge cable in the fire
i will have 0 devices forit then
i have to drag lightning around anyway so usb-c is a chore and not a standard
the only thing i own that has usb-c that isent a inconvinience is my switch
"usb-c is not a standard" is just delusional. i wish you well as you detox from the age of apple proprietary cables
Hello off-topic-tech. Me and baldur have agreed on this to be the cheapest reasonable build which uses the am5 platform, ready for a low end GPU and can play satisfactory. Anyone here have anything to say against it?

regardless of what you carrry that isn't what most carrry heh
pretty much everything is c but older stuff
btw, i agree
i still have a microusb device
am not a fan of microatx boards but hey, if it gets you gaming then thats good enough
first person to not like matx that i have met
well yea no duh controllers still use them now
..it's one of my most used devices actually, an guitar audio interface
and most knockoff anythings really
works with ios, windows macos...
maybe android not sure
i can carry my entire guitar rig... in my pocket
well except the guitar... and amp/speakers... but there's always headphones
my mouse has a microusb charge cable. i rarely upgrade to new mice. i hate ewaste
i use mine until they just aren't usable heh
keyboards pretty much too, i'll swap it to another system or keep it as a spare
always good to have a spare mouse and/or keyboard!
mines a logitech mx master 3 so it's a tough little fker. just keeps on mousin
i do have entirely too many power cables
the spare is another logitech thats wired. the g502 one of the og versions of it
i have... decades worth
I at least might have another use for one at some point since these days amps (a lot of them) switched over to that type of power connector vs hard wired or something proprietary
i wouldn't read too much into it. i dont prefer them but they're hot sellers after all.
i'd consider getting a little more storage than 256 but thats just becasue i'm a big data hoarder personally. 256 feels so tight
thinking about it makes me claustrophobic
for a game rig?
but mainly just for satisfactory?
just a general pc that's dec but yeah would feel tight to me but it depends on what ya doin
But don't listen to me im the guy that went with the 4TB nvme...
microcenter was happy to see me that day
(and i was happy to see microcenter)
4???
WHATCHA DOING WITH 4???
yeah but i play a lot of games that take big big space
Not even AI models are that big
daily stuff
2TB free... and 10% total space overprovisioned
so 10% of that drive is gone right off the rip, but still have 2TB heh
i have dual 2TB nvmes and im fairly stacked up by now
should be fine for just one game, but what if like me, you want to install 20 more games (that you rarely load)
got a 1TB nvme in it too, and a couple smaller SATA SSD's
aaaand 500GB usb 3 external that is more than fast enough to play games off... if you really needed or wanted to
it's mostly use for oldschool arcade/console emulation
i mean you can game off a usb stick comfortably so its not like you exactly need a lot of speed if your not bothered by launch time
WHAT VIDEOS DO YOU HAVE
i have some sticks here you would not want to play video games off of
unless you just enjoy pain...
WD_Black >>
a lot of raw mkv of various resolutions and framerates most being 1440P60
I ended up with the 990 pro because it was on sale
so i calld an audible at the store and switched to a larger drive... that one
i ended up with WD cause they were on sale for 50% off albeit still 200$cad
it's just money SHRUG!
definitely not a drive id reccomend on the regular but its been reliable as heck
well i knew that with what i had 4TB was overkill even for me really but i didn't care...
lol
how much storage do you need kylo ren? "MORE!"
I always think "but what if...."
oh same especially now that i have gigabit wifi i really dont need to be a storage hog anymore i could live off of like 1-2TB if i got rid of most my videos i keep for fun and generally cleaned shit out lol
plus i also don't currently have flight sim and it's ENORMOUS cache on there
that is something you want on a fast drive and fairly hefty
i have like 600GB wasted on a OS that dosent even exist anymore lol
mkv... ofc
one time my internet went down while i was playing flight sim and i didn't realize at first... then i ran out of the area i had cached
the changes... they hurt my soul ๐
gigabit?? what for? to download a picture of my mum?
my os drive has most of the stuff i actually edit after but i always forget to copy them back to the HDD
it want from beautiful to "what the hell is this blurry nonsense"
downloading speeds at not youl get to play by next week speeds
i had gigabit internet
and plus staying at 45mbit was more expensive than going up to gigabit by this point lmao
but your point, jenny, is valid
that'll be the astronauts who leave the solar system for the first time
it was only from time to time that it was useful for me so i downgraded to 600mbit to save money lol
everything gonna be low poly
I mean it came in handy... but only like maybe once every month tops
Makes a difference when you are downloading a 50+ GB game tho for sure
like, you only need to download games once -- I had 28mb ethernet speeds and just left devices on overnight (crunchyroll would sometimes crash mid downloads but i think that mightta been my phone overheating)
oh yea downloading forza again was more of a benchmark than a internet speed test
patch day enters the room
guess what my first "broadband" speed was ๐
I own 2 copies of FH5...
well in that case you should be aware that its fat as fuk
yeah forza is another whopper isn't it
naw shite sherlok
somebody needs to put these games on a diet lol
honestly forza is reasonable compared to DCS
well forza is also a super fun awesome game... in my opionion
atleast forza looks like its being played at a higher resolution than 480P
I need a good F1 type game
talking about diet - the only reason my ADHD remembered to eat today is because I went to drink some wine (with tea by the side) and was like "shit, can't drink on an emtpy stomach"
i really enjoyed it but it felt quite short
tsk tsk
the graphics thooooooo
I drove 90% free and 10% actual races
cruising around is surprisingly enjoyable even with the fairly small map
it was so fun (while i could play it on my brother's pc that is ;-;)
i literally hopped on just to screw around not long ago
the rain was actually relaxing
I only messed with it briefly on my main rig upstairs
yall wanna play once i get the pc??
i've been out here so much enjoying the weather and doing cloud streaming and light gaming
I love this time of year lol
i mostly used it as a free test bench to improve my video editing skills lmao
because its dang near passable as real
that's how FS is now if you can crank it up
that game is just nuts now heh
and the physics are still top notch
MS has always had good flight sims tho... some better than others but always at least solid
hell even cranked up as high as i can go with a good framerate it's gorgeous heh
forza is good stuff. i should get back into it. i dont' want to buy any of the DLC though. i stopped playing cause every event i found while exploring was like, something i had to buy with real money
i wouldn't buy dlc for that particular game either, not quite that into it
yea same i couldent care less the buy the dlc
if i don't own a dlc it shouldn't show up in game AT ALL
i have been known to buy planes in flight sim lol
the game shouldn't be a store
its microsoft after all and they love stores
if it's like it used to be years ago a lot of the stuff is 3rd party anyhow
and that's where the best stuff was anyhow
imo steam proved the market for micro transactions. i blame them. as much as i love valve as a company, they're a big reason why microtransactions go so hard
as far as i know you can still drop content into a folder and bam
more or less... ya know
package it in an installer, call it a day... i suppose
i'll find out eventually when there's a plane i really want to fly not avail in the base game ๐
good night/morning guys, it's 2:30 for me - about bed time
but you have to stay awake longer and think about your new pc
thats so real tho

lol
I usually pass out around 2AM lol
real
then get up around 7-8
sometimes earlier... depends on how much i want those eggs, bacon and a nice hot buttermilk biscuit
I'm tempted just to buy the parts now in this adrenaline
I litterally, scientifically, only need 4-6h of sleep
im like 5%ile
Oh I don't get all of that time as sleep... not even close

for sure for sure
My doctor has me on that good good Lasix
fine, byyyeeeee
pcp challenge FAILED
yeah and just think you could be hulk lifting the fridge to clean under it...
the body makes some pretty crazy stuff like addrenaline.. that stuff can have people performing crazy feats of strength in a high stress scenario
it's like the body turns on the superman mode
people have liften stuff that did damage it was so heavy but that stuff had them going hard
like ripping muscles and shit
Rough delta
seems a 100mv undervolt drops power a bit
900w well doing this so ๐คท

Can someone help me with a network issue
Basically the network tab on my pc says โunidentified networkโ under my Ethernet connection
Data hoarding is kind of thing...
All but the Optane are RAID-1 mirrors or equivalent, so the raw storage is double...
Stuff is HDDs, Profile is SATA SSDs and Windows + Games is 2TB NVMe SSDs.
But 256GB is perfectly usable for just Windows and smaller games.
Larger game installs can hit 150GB for single game at this time.
So 2x 2TB NVMe SSD, 2x 512GB SATA SSD, 2x 6TB HDD, and 64GB NVMe Optane.
But I need to do some housekeeping there.
Third party defrag and then first party shrink for that System partition, then third party move and first party expand for that Games.
please stop showing me gore
XD
Also, I think imma just go for this --->> https://de.pcpartpicker.com/user/jennytime9/saved/#view=qwYJmG
Saved Part Lists
But basically for basics + Satisfactory, 128GB would fit, until WinSXS bloated up over time etc. or needed to do Windows major version upgrade.
Anyone got experience with Windows sandbox?
I got a questionable file here, ran it through virus scanner, only 1 hit. Was thinking about opening it in sandbox.
I think I might just going to write script to scrape it off a website that datamined the game instead of messing with some sus .exe and dig into the game files myself ๐
Machine learning based detection from Acronis.
Mainly that it is ML based heurestic detection, so the lowest possible validity expectation.
On reddit, a lot say it gives false possitive. But I wonder how they can be so sure.
And Acronis is Swiss apparantly.
So either false positive.
Or intentional work to get it past virus scanners and actual problem.
Cannot say how probable either option is without knowing file and source.
But if you say Reddit, then the chance of intentionally hidden goes up.
Scaping the website is going to be pain. The id's don't make sense. It goes from 0-1000 and then picks up at 10 000 - 20 000.
I could just loop through the id's and get the data I need. But if they have a brain, they got security in place to stop my script ๐
No file I got from github. The actual .exe.
I was just looking up the actual reported virus and other experiences with Acronis.
I also scanned with windows defender.
Oh wow, virustotal has a behavior tab.
but it's unclear what is being done because of sandbox mode. And what the file is doing.
Like Windows Media Player?
Why would a .exe thats meant to extract game files access windows media player ๐
Ah, so Mitre is just showing what the file does in a sandbox that can be questionable. Like an overview of everything it does.
Yes, and lot of software open registry keys and/or files as read-write, even when they just read.
Which is very annoying.
Those cmd.exe <things> commands trigger that.
You know what? Fuck it. Not gonna risk it ๐
They (other tools/websites) datamined the data from the game ๐คทโโ๏ธ

I should optimize and check if id's exist in json before executing the REST call. But it's still fresh code, and it's more that I just want a db.json so I continue the application itself.
A means to an end.
and I need a lot of data to see how the search engine holds up ๐
I always just ran questionable shit in a VM
But unless you're going to break out some tools to investigate you'll likely run it and it appear nothing weird happened
A good example is from a long time ago... the only virus I ever actually had an infestation of in my life. TaiPan, one of it's variants.
It wa totally silent and the only indication anything was weird is any executable below a certain size had some junk data added so those files got a bit bigger
And yeah the variant I had that is literally all it did was spread, no dangerous payload and since most executables were larger than it touched it didn't even infect nearly every file.
might have been com files even back then, can't recall exactly but it was either .com or .exe's
iv had 1 virus and it imediately installed mcaffe and exposed itself in 3 seconds ๐
a lot of people have never even seen a .com file i guess.. these days
younger folks anyhow
it was just an dos executable
same as .exe... but different ๐
like DOS's man command program was... command.com
lol
anytime i see talk of old stuff it makes me want to try and revive my first pc
but its been sitting outside for like 10 years lmao
if you boot up some old dos floppy in a vm you'll for sure see one
can't say for sure but no way there isn't a bunch even on the boot disk for dos
i still have my first "real" computer
you assume iv ever seen a floppy disc in person
I say "real" to mean IBM (or compatible)
A Tandy 1000EX... 8088 CPU
still works...
hell i don't think i've seen a floppy disk in person in at least a couple decades heh
don't see discs for computers now either really
i dont know why but to me everything is post win10
well thjat's a lie because within the last couple of years i touched one... a 3.5" in a closet with a bunch of old computer software and manuals
anytime i see anyone working with older windows versions than that it seems so distopian
windows before 95 was pretty clunky
i cant comprehend how the world worked before than
which is ironic because i used a good few of the windows version before that
most home users didn't use windows before 95. In fact an extra step was needed to have a computer back then boot right into windows
yea i know about that
had to call it from the batch file, by default it would boot to DOS prompt
the era where windows was esentially just a running program
yeah it was lol
Guess what... so was 95 though really
Same (modified) kernel, one not meant to do more than one thing at a time when it was designed.
they should have bit the bullet and switched to the NT kernel for 95
if i dident suspect that my old pc is coroded to oblivion (and know the psu cables are cut) id probably have tried to revive it already
but people would have been pissed because a bunch of DOS software wouldn't work
They did manage to perform some kinda voodoo to get that kernel to work for all that though I guess.. so hats off heh
if it's old old stuff you really gotta keep an eye on the board... unfortunately
i inspect my Tandy every so often for good measure to make sure a cap isn't gonna pop or something
its probably not dinosaur levels acient cause i think it did support windows 7 although i nerver did the upgrade but its not new for sure
pcs out of the store back then could be wild too... packard bell was nuts
we had 3 of the SAME model opened up once
they all had different hardware for various components lol
one even had an entirely diferent mobo
but its been sitting in a unisolated garage for a decade so it defedently has element damage
3 differnt psu's
