Yep, the quickinstall is like selecing your, region, locale, gui type (KDE, etc). as well has a quickformat and partition for the drive.
Essentilally you get the bare minimum, and you get a box where you can type all the extras you want to install.

Basically seems that AMD implements some PCIe (power saving?) feature that Intel doesn't handle right.
On AX210, it causes those driver errors once a minute or so when the card isn't in active use.

And on BE-series the computer cannot boot at all.

Yeah, AFAIK there was supposed to be two tiers of chiplet based, and just lowest tier as monolithic.
And something went wrong pretty late and the highest end was completely cancelled (Navi 41?)
And the mid-tier (Navi 42?) had crash redesign to be monolithic (Navi 48)
And lowest tier Navi 44 is coming out later as originally planned.

As in wouldn't have been economical enough to produce, most likely by those interposer tech things.

The specific interposer tech used by AMD and Nvidia for their AI accelerators has been known to be completely sold out for years and in future too for some time more.

Trying to find if 7000-series and MIs use same interposer tech or not...

RDNA3 had small fanout interposer chips.
MI300 has full size active silicon interposer using TSMC CoWoS-S tech.

MI uses interposers and SoIC (3D stacking like X3D cache)

IIRC the original rumors were that RDNA4 would use another type of CoWoS tech, not that -S variant.

Possibly the same CoWoS-R (organic interposer) as MI300 was originally to use instead of more expensive -S (silicon interposer).

Which AFAIK showed major issues with temperature cycling late in development from the too different thermal expansion coefficients between the interposer and silicon chips on top.

That InFO-RDL is close to that CoWoS-R, or possibly basically same.

This is my hunch about big RDNA4 being axed. Any wafers that can go to enterprise do go to enterprise, and the only wafers that are coming to consumer are doing so because there's not enough packaging capacity.

Because there's tons of N5/N4 capacity, that's public info. If gamers aren't getting it, it's because they're not deemed a lucrative market.

HUB put it nicely recently and made an interesting comparison to regional game pricing. Because it's all digital with unlimited supply, publishers can tailor pricing as precisely as they want to each market. But the moment you're talking about physical goods with finite supply and logistics costs, it becomes a question of what market pays the most.
