I have the 011 Vision and yeah they're wide

#

great for cable management etc though lol

#

You have essentially the hight of a PSU (since it goes in "sideways") then some...

twin dew
#

But doesn't help when point is to get as narrow case as possible, that can still take current MB and stock cooler.

charred relic
#

just pointing out how much wider that kinda case is,, i was surprised when i went to get it

#

at how big the box was lol

#

wasn't quite as heavy as i imagined though given all the glass involved

night girder
#

I don't hehe

#

No Icue here.

#

if I buy another RBG keyboard, it's programmable

You can even set individual button color hehe

only use it during the day when you have natural light hehe

IBM Model M ๐Ÿ˜‰

#

You can still get those keyboards brand new. Same design, tooling etc.

#

Same buckling spring switches...

#

IMO best keyboard for typing. Probably worst for gaming lol

#

Well the old 80's Model M's are still alive and kicking.

#

Ones with a detachable cord are basically forever keyboards

#

if not and you can solder it's still a forever keyboard

#

I use a mixture of compact styles and normal. Depends

#

And usually blues for typing and reds for basically anything else

#

I want to try some of the hall effect stuff though

mental oriole
#

Wut, it's the same hehe

I just need a macbook now ๐Ÿ˜„

I already have the buds, phone and tablet

i like it

i used to care about side loading and tweaking the interface and such, i just don't care about that now

glacial zephyr
#

I mean I prefer iPads and iPhones but I refuse to buy a MacBook because theyโ€™re way overpriced

#

I looked at some that weren't too bad

the higher end ones are def too much

Yeah the Mac mini base model is the best deal

#

But if you add anything the price skyrockets

Can also control my amp through it if i need to...

just make it disregard what the physical controls are set to...

well if you asked me even a few years ago i'd say you were crazy... if you told me i'd be saying this but...

#

i like the garden ๐Ÿ˜„ it's nice in here...

#

Us old people have been doing this forever

it just gets fancier...

That's kinda why I don't care about the tinkering anymore, been there done that

My last android was a Galaxy Note, it was a nice device

that's one of the things i like

glacial zephyr
#

I like iOS but donโ€™t really like macOS

charred relic
#

the most i ever do is the ordering of icons

#

and i create folders that group various types of apps

so it's all just on one screen really

#

My phone is basically just used as a phone and sms device... and very expensive meme viewer

#

I don't do much with it outside of phone stuff

but like... i can change my wallpaper and shit

NVIDIA's DLSS 4 and MFG (Multi-Frame Generation) are a big part of the company's marketing as it tries to make its RTX 50 series, especially the inbound RTX 5070, look better. Multi-Frame Generation now comes in a "4X" variant, which we'll look at today. This image quality com...

tough owl
#

I mean frame gen is kinda a new thing

#

Give it about 3 years and itโ€™ll be good as Raytracing is to pathtracing

twin dew
#

All those "100, 200" etc. Hz TVs in 50Hz countries, "120, 240" etc. in 60Hz countries use that by default.

#

One of the first things anyone should turn off when they get new TV.

#

And it is easier to do on TV or like, as latency isn't really important as long as sound is kept in sync.

willow pike
#

nvidia say you should only use it with a high input frame rate. okay but then I don't need frame gen as much

#

in practice, poor bastards with 4060s use it thinking it'll let them play cyberpunk path tracing, it doubles 20fps to 40fps, and they wonder why it looks shit

#

fsr3 is exactly the same though at least that doesn't process the UI

twin dew
#

Almost certainly marketing or exec level started thing to just get Bigger Number Better.
And then when technical people started talking about frame interpolation, and decision was to implement that, it was just renamed by marketing.

#

100Hz TVs with frame interpolation were a thing during CRT times already IIRC.

#

Yes, the algorithms and results have slowly gotten better with increased processing power.
But today those things often use 4+ frames instead of just two, and the results still are bad.

#

So computer game side is easier because you have motion vectors.
But harder because you only can use 2 frames to interpolate between, and you have very limited time to do it.

willow pike
#

they get to say the 5070 is faster than a 4090 thanks to multi frame generation and people will buy it

#

they get to say path tracing is actually something people can use

#

even though you need dlss performance and multi frame gen, which looks ghastly

#

all the while, improvements to actual performance or performance per dollar have ceased

dire igloo
willow pike
#

to sell graphics cards

#

get a 5090 and you'll just about get something playable

#

better save up!

#

a year from now we will have a new kind of path tracing that brings the 5090 to its knees and is unplayable on a 4090

#

and still doesn't look right

#

this is by far from the first time nvidia has launched a new, impressive looking, highly demanding and impractical technology only to move on when the competition catches up

#

in this case the competition includes themselves

twin dew
#

Or intentionally make game devs use new feature wrong, so there is way too high performance cost.
So that even their own older gen cards cannot run it properly.

willow pike
#

like how crysis 2 used tesselation on absolutely everything, even things you couldn't see

twin dew
#

At insane tesselation factor.

#

Which was the point, as Nvidias new gen didn't suffer as much from that as AMDs.
Even when Nvidias own older cards were no better or worse off than AMDs new ones.

willow pike
#

look at those polygons

twin dew
#

Or the tesselated water under at least any level with any sea.

willow pike
#

same goes for hairworks

#

and now, years after RTX, we're beginning to see games that mandate ray tracing but implement it really well (Indiana Jones)

twin dew
#

But has to do it at very low resolution for that.

willow pike
#

well enough that even my radeon gets 120FPS without any upscaling or frame gen

#

so what do nvidia do?

#

they concoct up path tracing that absolutely murders performance

#

there will always be a new thing that you can't run properly right now but nvidia will push hard as a way to sell graphics cards

#

as much as radeon has failed to penetrate the market, amd spends more energy working on new consoles with microsoft and sony, where the incentive is to get the most performance for the cost, not sell overpriced geforces

#

i am praying to all the gods for amd's strix halo to get put in an affordable all in one gaming PC, like a PS5 that runs windows or linux

#

because pc hardware is getting so obscenely expensive i can't recommend anyone buy anything

#

past month i've only heard the dlss transformer model is better

#

this, this shit is why i am so cynical

it appears the increase to clarity is just cause it's relying more on temporal data, but that causes more ghosting

Today weโ€™re introducing Verified Priority Access for the GeForce RTX 50 Series. It will give a limited number of verified GeForce gamers & creators in the United States the opportunity to purchase one GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX 5080 Founders Edition graphics card from the NVIDIA Marketplace.

If selected, users will be notified at the email address of the NVIDIA account they enrolled with. Invites will begin rolling out next week.

# willow pike why? iunno

Because that optical flow hardware wasn't powerful enough to work for the higher fake frame rates.
Suggesting the MFG was knee-jerk requirement from marketing once they found out how little uplift there was between generations.

twin dew
#

That first was IIRC direct from Nvidia when asked why it wasn't used.

charred relic
#

At some point I'll want to upgrade my vidya hardware

#

Although for now what I have hits my goals

#

For me video card shopping just gets tedius looking over various benchmarks from synthetic to real world

#

I got a RX 6750 XT awhile back

twin dew
#

How would you decide when AMDs new ones aren't out yet?
And Nvidias prices are nowhere near stabilized and are at scalping levels?

charred relic
#

Yeah apparently the 70Ti wouldn't be a bad value... at MSRP

#

and that aint happening right now

twin dew
#

And that comparison is only valid in US, rest of the world doesn't get the same price cuts and long tail on the older product.

charred relic
#

Well I guess it's fitting it was a paper launch

#

considering connector starts fires....

charred relic
#

At any rate yeah you gotta see what the new cards do. If I were shopping right now I'd wait and see

#

(even if the nvidia prices were stable))

twin dew
#

But in Finland, 4070 and 4070 Super are almost completely out of stock, and there will not be restock happening anymore.
And same is almost certainly true of rest of EU too, outside of some specific stores that have local stock left.

#

Checking another store, as the first didn't even list 4070 TI and TI Super anymore.

charred relic
#

wow i'll probably be able to get those 2 years from now heh

twin dew
#

Same with the TI and TI Super, almost out.

twin dew
#

It is their reality, but not reality for most of the world.

#

In EU, old gen doesn't get price drops and be sold concurrently with new gen.
Old gen just goes out of stock at last MSRP or higher.

twin dew
#

Any long tail cards will usually be jacked up in price.
To be sold to the people who must for some reason get exact model, even if it is older and overpriced.

Man, I hate when our company vendors have aggressive email filters that block our emails....

#

Only way to fix this in the past was to change their email to something like gmail and they would receive an email normally

#

They use company email and already checked their SPAM folder or other mail folders

#

Either the message was completely blocked by email server or something else is going on in here

Worst thing is when you tell a vendor it's a technical problem on their side and you have no responsibility to fix it. They immediately start attacking you and blame they didn't receive an email because there is something wrong on your side

A western from the 70's but not your typical western

With t he Jerk what was great watching it was the jokes aren't dated... and Steve was on top of his game during that period.

Well some of the jokes would butthurt somebody now probably

Some TV shows from back in the day that would never fly these days.

All in the Family, yeah you'd never get that on air now.

Younger people not around back then don't really get it though we weren't laughing with Archie, we were laughing at how corny he was lol

I never relized how big conterfiet arcade machines were until we movied to Panama City Panama when I was a kid.

#

There were arcades there with legit machines, normal price. Then there were the counterfiet arcades, 2 credits per quarter instead of 1

#

That was like... early to mid 80's

#

I always went to the pirate places, 2x the value. The games were the same.

#

I still have some Balboa's (what many called the panamanian coinage)

#

Not sure abou tnow but at the time they used US currency but did mint some of their own quarters and dimes that had Balboa on the front

#

The thing I don't like with Nintendo is they are killing preservation

#

At some point we will lose games... forever

#

I've legitimately tried a game via piracy before

#

Sorry not sorry but before I plop out a bunch of money I wanna see that it doesn't suck, specially these days.

#

But I also buy games I play. I don't mind spending the money but I do mind ending up with a shit game to show for it.

#

Most stuff you can tell from reviews and videos anyhow though

I don't even play nor buy many games.

I'd been hoping for a new even better Elder Scrolls game but... meh

I need some new keys

this board is old and one switch is wonky which i could replace but this thing has been problems from day 1 with the connection

Nah

#

I have a keychron in the garage and in here I have a 10-keyless HyperX

#

this one has cherry reds, the keychron is a nicer keyboard it has blues but the blues are so old they're more like soft reds lol

#

half of them have no tactile left

#

that one i'll just replace the switches... this one is just garbo

#

Browns are an OK in between

#

My next keyboard I want to try hall effect though

#

I have m y GOOD keyboard in the workshop because I do microcontroller code on a laptop there lol

#

I've become a fan of Keychron

#

And for the workshop I'm VERY tempted to get a Model M heh

Unicomp has them, brand new

#

A brand new Model M... 150 bucks

#

In your choice of PS2 or USB ๐Ÿ˜„

#

Believe or not I might just go PS2

#

Sexy...

#

And no software to worry about ๐Ÿ˜„

#

But I do want one of those in the shop, becuase I will be typing a lot on that keyboard

#

They have some other models, it always changes though

#

Mini M

#

They had one with a trackball off on the side

#

that would actually be super handy for me... they don't make those any more though

#

A Sun Unix Spacesaver... yes that was saving space lol

#

also those aren't macro keys they're just F keys

#

You'd have to be pretty specialty to get macro keys in that area

#

those boards were usually built for some specific task back then lol

#

*era

#

Yeah

#

Now it's basically standard, back then it was def specialty

#

kinda like power windows in cars lol

#

Go find me a new car without them now...

#

But no for typing... those keys are the magic

#

buckling spring is... chefs kiss for typing

#

And I mean they are "ok" for gaming just not great, basically most other things are bnetter except maybe rubber dome keys

#

Here's why I wouldn't use one in here aside from also not greatest for gaming.. I have my keys in my lap a lot. "Weight : 3 lb 11 oz"

I started getting the double left click on a single click... ever tried googling answers

#

bunch of dipshits telling you to change the repeat delay

#

like yeah didn't think of that pal... not to mention it doesn't help

#

because that isn't the problem

#

I've had some Reddragon stuff and last I looked it seemd their prices had gone up

#

they were good at the lower price, if they raise prices not so much... I've used them for mice for awhile

#

can you imagine spending that kinda money on a 5090 then finding out your GPU is literally missing shit it's supposed to have

#

I have freakishly... average sized hands

#

people are like man put those away they are freakishly average

#

"but i need muh hands"

#

Logitech used to just be the go-to

#

But that was a long looong time ago

#

well mice are even more subjective than keys

#

im super picky with my mice

#

One reason

#

I keepo going back to the Reddragon is the system is already sett up with the settings I like how I like them

#

I can just swap it out and have to tweak nothing

#

I'd buy a razer if I liked it... and I trusted the quality

#

My mouse is like that, side full of buttons for macros

#

They can be used for so much stuff... I've used them as OBS macros, macros in audio tools and apps... games

#

Similar

#

Mine is old, they might not sell the exact model I have now

#

Wonder how hard it is to source the switches they have in some of these mice

i'll just start replacing switches if they go wonky. That's how every mouse I've had die in the last I dunno how long has gone. The dreaded double click

literally the only thing wrong is that one switch

With Reddragon I probably can

#

It's as dark as a black hole now....

#

I will say this... regarding drivers. I had better luck with Nvidia drivers.

#

Not had any major problems with AMD. But less issues on the other side.

#

That being said being a nerd I am sometimes in Linux and AMD has always supported that better

#

looooool

#

I don't hate them because of it, I understand exactly WHY they are like that with the drivers.

#

"the secret is in the sauce".... in this scenario the sauce is the driver

#

Plus you could get 3d working with nvidia, at least back at the point I was trying to do so. But that was quite awhile back now

#

One difference then was AMD would be accelerated out of the box, Nvidia wouldn't.

#

And honestly outside of the fancy desktop stuff you didn't need it because gaming was really barely a thing on linux then

#

People did it, and would sometimes get some stuff to run via compatibility layers

don't they do optics

at some point they'll be able to give them artificial ones, that gives a control interface

#

So from not being able to walk to functional... at some point anyhow. It's not even new tech.

#

It's just evolved and had somebody pour money into the research

#

One thing that's changed is the interface itself is mor estreamlined

#

But it can still only see so much of what you're "thinking"

#

it's almost like teaching your brain to activate a new type of muscle really

#

It will eventually

#

And I mean the interface between the computer and the brain will get better too, more control...finer control

#

Sending feedback to the brain like it would be naturally tho... we can't do that much with the nerves

#

yet... heh. they have stuff that simulated that now with some prosthetics, it'll send some snesation to the nub to let you know how hard you are gripping for example

#

Plus to some degree your brain itself starts to rewire to work around stuff as well

#

like how blind people tend to pick up increased hearing

ditto for the tablet

#

Oh that's another thing I want... an apple watch lol

I'll get the watch before I get a laptop though

#

I have tons of reasons lol

#

I'd have a harder time to come up with reasons to stay on android for sure

#

I highly doubt it heh

#

But see you're hung up on the interface

#

the interface is fine, it's just not fancy and you can't just throw on a new complete skin or a new UI. Again though don't care one bit about that personally.

#

It's good for light metering, it's good for my audio needs... it does everything else just as well at least

#

Some things better like a baked in DAW that is pretty good

#

That's one thing I don't upgrade super often but when I do I get something high end

#

But I upgrade about every 5 years personally

#

I'm still on a 13 Pro Max

#

I'll probably be on it for a few more years

#

I dunno software is just different on mac in general. Like my neighbor is a musician and he has some older macs and they still run shockingly well

#

to be like 8ish years old in some cases

#

I'll go low end because I don't need more. They have some pretty powerful laptops out now. I just mostly need it for basic things, the heaviest weight it will have is some real time audio stuff

I'm going to have one or two 240's run to this room at some point

Technically at the box we have 240, they just run single phase to most circuits in the house

#

some exceptions being in the kitchen for the stove, laundry room etc

#

for big appliances

#

I run way higher wattage devices than CPU's heh

#

into the thousands of watts

#

nah I'm US, they run dual phase to the homes, voltage is handle with transformers

#

I think in EU they do it a little differently

languid gulch
#

wow. so for the moment maxxed out satisfactory, 1440 ultrawide at 144hz, doesn't max out my pc. not many other games i have will actually stress my system like SF does, so i think that's a good thing

safe trench
#

im in california

charred relic
#

that's the cheapest 18 i see

languid gulch
#

probably 480

charred relic
#

That's not a bad price really considering how much storage that is

languid gulch
#

480v in the US is 3 phase, used mainly for stuff like lathes & mills

charred relic
#

Yeah you normally don't see those outside industrial

languid gulch
#

occasionally metric & base 12/imperial do kinda line up with their uses

charred relic

which is why if I had one installed here the power company would be involved and they'd have questions I don't wanna answer

languid gulch

technically

languid gulch
#

gotta do it on the panel

safe trench

for the rtx 105090 takes 480v

charred relic

Yeah at the panel everything is 240

#

it's then split for most circuits

safe trench
#

and you have to buy transformers for them

#

dw, nvidia has innovated and they added 64vhpwr

charred relic
#

RTX 201090 will require a pellet of uranium to power it's reactor core

I dunno what ever happend with that other drama, didn't care enough. I watch LTT, I watch GN... I think they're both fine.

#

Oh and I watch a lot of UFD Tech too, he does good at going over the headlines.

#

Well when your CPU runs at like 4MHz lol

#

I was thinking earlier about how my first pentium had 8MB of memory, not GB... MB

#

And that was basically what was considered the "average" or "standard"

#

That chip was amazing though... P75. I was the only person I knew that had one at the time. Everyone else was strill stretching out their 486's, which made sense since they'd go spend 1200+ on a new one.

#

adjusted for inflation that's 260 bucks

#

*2600, my 0 keyswitch is... well i need to swap it with a less used key lol

My first "real" PC was one of these. By real I mean IBM (or compatible).

Hey that was light years ahead of my Atari 800XL I was upgrading from!

#

The nerd scene was weird back then... maybe it still is I dunno

languid gulch

charred relic
#

Well maintained records are nice though

better sound quality than CD's

I have the old Shout at the Devil record with the big pentagram on it... my mom took that one surprisingly well

I got that one from my older brother, his car had an 8 track in it hahhaa

#

It was also a Pinto...

#

I have a handful of records, nothing to play them on

#

I know one person that has a record player, my neice and her wife just bought one recently

#

but only because it's apparently trendy right now heh

languid gulch
#

the little portable ones in cases are getting popular

charred relic
#

Have it set up with candles and shit around it... it's like a shrine... kinda creepy really lol

#

I seem to remember hearing those were basically all not very great as players

#

I doubt I'll ever buy one... but who knows if I see a good one cheap enough

languid gulch
#

not great but also a lot of people never got to experience the good ones

charred relic
#

At one time most households had one

#

We had a stereo setup with a record player and 8 track

languid gulch
#

charred relic
#

I'd have to research more but there are differences in drive systems, weighting, and def in the stylus itself

#

I'd think these days direct drive would be the most reliable but I have no idea

#

Do they still need calibration?

#

I remember having to calibrate using the marks on the edge back in the day

#

That can work depending on taste... I guess

#

Yep they've gotten high

#

I have no reason to get one personally, there is one game I care about I can only play on console

#

And next year it'll probably be on PC or XBL PC

#

I pay ummm 0 ๐Ÿ˜„

#

I sub to one game service, and that's it. Select other titles I buy... like this one.

#

Even with the last price increase awhile back Live for PC is a great value for me. There are a lot of games on there I like

#

I look at some peoples Steam library and I'm like wtf mine is so smol

#

Well here is the thing

#

at 100 bucks... that's the same price as it's basically been since forever

#

well not basically... has been. adjusted for inflation our 2600 games were 90-100 bucks lol

#

That's why every time there is price ourtage I'm like yeah ok...

#

relax over there guys

#

70 is... well games havn't gone up in awhile either, lets not forget that

#

games had been 60 bucks for ages, it was bound to happen

#

I don't like seeing price increases, but at the same time I can't rage over paying tyhe same fuckin price I've always payed

#

for 4 decades....

#

And I can at least say big games are a big production now with bigger costs... a 2600 game was some guy hacking away and i doubt it took lonmg

#

I'd pay double that for a GOOD elder scrolls... :/

#

like skyrim or better game wise with modern graphics on that

#

Yep

#

If I were like... Gates or Musk or Oprah I could afford to just have it made ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

#

"stop complaining about 70 bucks for a game this one cost me 48 million "

#

these days i think in.. well maybe most cases now, the smaller studios do better

#

they produce just... fun games

#

like this one, it's ot expensive and it's just a fun game

#

Stardew is another great inexpensive game

#

And despite messing up pretty bad at the start... No Mans Sky turned out OK

#

IMO those guys redeemed themselves.. .they've continued to work on it for a long time nmow and released tons of DLC all for free

#

Can't really be mad at them ya know, they could have jujst walked away which is what I expecteda t the time

#

I am off and on with it, like most games

#

I was gone so much for ahwile every time I'd go back it was amost a different game

#

when they were doing a lot of work

#

I kinda want to just start fresh on there if i play it again

#

i also finally tried ark and like... die die die die die die

#

They should have just called it die

#

"oh I think i almost hav ea shelter and i can almost get this sleeping baaaand im dead

#

I guess I should go get that Amazon order that came yesterday off the porch...

#

Wasn't too concerned... it's 30 dollars worth of a combination of solid and stranded core 22 AWG wire

#

if ya take it have fun... not sure what you'll do with it lol

#

Yeah... in an area of town that isn't BAD but it also isn't great.

#

It's a really stupid spot for drop off lockers...

#

Well th is location it's not if somebody gets robbed it's when... can about guarantee that

#

It'll probably just be a snatch and run but still...

#

Well in this case it'd almost be worth thte 30 knowing just how disappointed those slugs will be

#

when the little roaches open it up and find wire

#

Well it's not bad here... neighbors keep a good eye out

#

We all look out for each other around here

#

And it's def FAFO Lane because almost everyone is armed and 3 of my neighbors are veterans, 2 with combat experience

#

lol

#

And that, we all have camera

#

I got some super cool neighbors

#

lol

#

I specifically avoided buying where there was a HOA

#

those things end up so toxic

#

There are regulations, covenenants. But it's all basic stuff that makes sense

#

some of it to ensure any new houses built match to some degree, a certain percentage of the front has to be brick etc

#

But it's all rules you know going in, and they're all reasonable

#

The street light at the entrance was out, we didn't need a HOA for that

#

we handled it...

#

They aren't always bad... when they can go so bad I just avoid them

#

In fact more times than not they aren't, but it's a situation where if it goes bad it can be really REALLY bad

#

The busy bodies tend to be attracted to those jobs

#

so you end up with a bunch of people who have nothing better to do than be in somebody elses business

#

And of course the power trips...

#

nothing like being fined becuase of an irrational Karen

#

But why?

#

I'd die without AC... me spoiled

#

If my AC dies in the summer I will have somebody out that day

#

(I know a guy)

#

I keep saying it... it's not where you go it's who you know lol

#

At one time his dad owned the largest HVAC company in the southeasern US. But he leaned hard on new housing and when the bubble popped so did his business heh

#

He was also reluctant to start letting people who which he needed to do much sooner, but I get it it....

#

*letting people go

twin dew
#

Until the climate change started to destabilize stuff properly.

charred relic
#

I think they had a website on it too

#

Well there is something out there in space right now reminding us that the universe isn't done fucking with us yet heh

#

I wouldn't worry too much about being hit though, as always it'll get blown way out of proportion for headlines

#

kinda like how the LHD was going to create a black hole that consumes the earth

#

Which technically it could create a micro black hole... that would insttantly evaporate via hawking radiation

twin dew
#

There is limited area where it might hit, and it would only be equal to small nuke.
No western world is affected even theoretically.

charred relic
#

And would be so small it could pass through a sheet of steel as thick as here to the moon without coming close enough to anything to consume it

#

so... yeah real dangerous stuff

twin dew
#

Line starting from central africa to after asia in pacific, around equator.

charred relic
#

Yeah plus space is well named

#

it's mostly empty space, if you hurled something into space and it keeps going it could be a million years before it hits something

#

or 10... or 100

#

It might get bent a bit around large objects but... well like the idea of launching garabe into the sun

#

obv too expensive but that's actually harder than you'd imagine heh

twin dew
#

And around 2% based on current knowledge, and will only probably know properly in 2028, unless the late observations during this pass narrow it down a lot.

charred relic
#

And there is a LOT of variables, tons of calculus going on to predict that things path

#

because it will be interacting with all sorts of other large bodies

twin dew
#

Main point is that we don't know the current orbit well enough.

charred relic
#

multiples at once,

twin dew
#

Need more observations to pinpoint where it is right now.

charred relic
#

Plus some people wills tart to freak out when it gets closer like wtf are you going to do about it anyhow

#

just ride it out heh

#

might hit the middle of nowhere anyhow

twin dew
#

We have the tech already to deflect it a little.
And like I said, we already know the limits where it would hit, which doesn't affect US or Europe at all.

charred relic
#

With any luck it'll hit DC ๐Ÿ˜„

#

that'll clean house fairly well

#

I've lived through multiple life ending events

#

it's getting tiresome guys...

twin dew
#

Ok, remembered it little wrong, the possible impact zone based on current uncertainty:

charred relic
#

And that'll be at least fairly close

twin dew
#

It could cause damage as far as 50 km (30 mi) from the impact site.

charred relic
#

Yeah it's a baby

#

Not even a world ender

twin dew
#

But as seen, no-one in northern hemisphere have to even care at all directly.

charred relic
#

Just the universe reminding you it's still there

twin dew
#

Well, in US, Canada, EU etc.

charred relic
#

Anybody play around in Universe Sandbox?

#

Playing with gravity is fun ๐Ÿ˜„

#

Good lord I own some nerdy shit

#

Kerbal Space Program is another super fun game I always go back to

twin dew
#

And if US etc. cared, we could easily have program set up so that if 2028 first spot determines that it could still hit Earth, to have impactor mission ready to deflect it a bit so it doesn't hit.
And might be even possible during the 2032 approach, if 2028 determined it would hit.

#

If I understood correctly, even standard Falcon 9 could do it.

charred relic
#

I wouldn't starve though if we played

#

(whispers) because i'd just eat you...

#

๐Ÿ™‚

twin dew

So are you not fan of Starship?
Or not fan of Musk?

You can like the product or company without liking Musk.

charred relic
#

I can't look at SpaceX on it's own and see it as anything other than a pretty amazing space company heh

#

And if somebody is willing to dump money into that sort of thing, good.

#

Same for Tesla, it's either a good car or it isn't.

#

My neighbor has one, it's older one at this point. It's a nice car.

#

I think the cybertruck is a horrendous nightmare

#

๐Ÿ˜„

#

Neuralink should be able to help some folks walk, either again or for the first time ever.

#

People worry about more devious applications but trust me if those are viable the gooberment is already on it...

#

So that's happening either way. Like Musk has AI depsite preaching the dangers of AI. Why? Because him not doing it doesn't stop it.

#

It changes nothing if it doesn't jump in too.

#

He just has multiple motivations

#

I believe he wants to help. But at the end of the day he's a business man.

#

he really will

#

Then you'd never vote...

#

k im not repeating what he just told me looool

he wants me to give you a certain uhhh salute lol

#

And I don't know about anywhere else but around here we all get along just fine...

#

It';s over 20 grand just to get a child into the world

#

that's one reason a lot of couples here arne't having kids

#

and that's just to get them to the outside heh

#

some people literally cannot afford to have a child, which is sad

#

there's always been a financian aspect to it obv but for people to be opting out becuase it's so expensive is just nuts

#

my neice and her wife are t hinking about adopting now but they were smart and went STEM so they make decent money

#

they'll make good parents

#

She's a good kid...

mine used to want me to d/l pirate music for her ipod lol

this one im talking about now in particular

she knew uncle E knew where the goodies were hidden

All my other shoes are dress shoes

and tried it again, just need a place to vent a litle, and not find a solutiong

#

in the past, you helped me with my Ram errors baldur

#

and, i saw the same crash report on forum, you assisted there aswell, i think i pinned it down to Global illumination to cause it

#

and the offtopic part of this is, it happend to me in PoE aswell

#

naw i dunno, some games make my xtx crash for some reason, in PoE it was also GLobal Illumination

#

im starting to regret the fact i got this xtx lol

#

dont get me wrong, it a good card, it runs all games i have perfectly, except Satisfactrory in DX12 with blobal illumination on

#

and PoE 1 with globval illumination

#

has been doing it since i got it, but only in select situations

twin dew
#

Something computer specific.
Most likely related to that RAM problems or like, where the computer isn't completely stable, just almost.

gleaming shadow
#

i had that in the past indeed

#

but weird part is, it is only in like 2 games

twin dew
#

Because the last tiny bit needs very specific load(s) to trigger the latent instability into real.

gleaming shadow
#

sound point

#

i did lower my ram speed to 5800, did some massive testing, and i thought i had it stable at 6000

night girder
#

Good luck Peturtjuhh finding the cause. I've been also there. One game (GW2 made my PC crash a lot). Other games didn't. Was so annoying finding the cause.

gleaming shadow
night girder
#

But Baldur told me exact same, system was stable enough for most games. And then GW2 did something to make my hardware ๐Ÿ’ฉ it's pants and shut down my rig.

gleaming shadow
#

maybe in next year imma get different MB and cpu ๐Ÿ˜›

night girder
#

I replaced my CPU. It's a lot more stable since then.

gleaming shadow
#

ia hve a 7900x should be decent enough

night girder
#

Had that one too. I had 7600X

#

replaced with 7800X3D

twin dew
#

In Letterdiefs case, it was probably VSOC debacle kill, even when the system was built months after the fixed UEFI versions were out.

#

And might be related for you too, if you ever ran that same CPU with the older non-limited BIOS/UEFI versions with high RAM clocks.

#

Or if your MB also feeded high VSOC even when RAM was still on auto-settings.

night girder
#

Eventually, we lowered the Infinity Fabric Clock. Which made my system a little bit more stable. So that made Baldur believe it was CPU issue.

#

And CPU would keep degrading (so lowering FCLK again wont matter), so I just bought a new one.

gleaming shadow
#

howed you check the stability?

#

just main in games and such?

night girder
#

Well, it crashed everyday ๐Ÿ˜„

#

and then I played GW2 for days on end without a crash. (after FCLK temp "fix")

willow pike
#

my XTX used to crash on alt tab because I hadn't cleaned my drivers in literally years

night girder
#

And after a year, it started to crash more and more again (degrading CPU stability)

willow pike
#

DDU fixed it

gleaming shadow
#

i did brand new instal of windows 2 or 3 times

#

ddu wont fix it for me ๐Ÿ˜›

willow pike
#

weird

night girder
#

Really, its a long process of elimination. I can't help you. I had help from Baldur.

willow pike
#

baldur is wise

twin dew
# willow pike weird

Not that weird if it is hardware that is unstable, and not driver/software issue.

#

But if it is CPU, RAM or GPU that is the issue...

gleaming shadow
#

kina hard to pinpoint i guess?

night girder
#

I learned that hardware instabilities can be very subtle and sneaky. It's not because your hardware is unstable, it will crash constantly. Even one crash in a month can mean something is not 100% ok with the hardware. Atleast that's what I learned from it. And it's also very complex ๐Ÿ˜„

twin dew
#

Need to remember that some GPUs come out of factory unstable.

willow pike
#

yeah I had my XTX before I put in my 350 hours in satisfactory and it ain't ever crash

Same with some CPUs.

Current CPU and GPU chips are binned, and then tested for individual turbo tables.

night girder
#

And there is no way we can reset that before plugging in a GPU?

#

It's hard baked into the GPU?

twin dew
#

One-time fixed programming into the silicon.

night girder
#

Fuck. That sucks.

twin dew
#

That is what Curve Optimizer offsets on AMD CPU side for example.

Steps in that fixed table.

same for nvidia

gleaming shadow
#

oe as soon as i undervolt my gpu, it crashes

night girder
gleaming shadow
#

in all seriousness, is ther a good reliable way to stress test stability to "cancel" out most crashes and stuff?

twin dew
#

Not for 100% coverage.
But basically any crashes isn't normal today, unless the specific software is buggy and only it crashes.

night girder
#

I understand why people just buy prebuilt machines under warranty ๐Ÿ˜›

Building your own PC is fun, but more work when things go wrong.

If you buy prebuilt from local shop, you just bring it back and tell them to fix it under warranty.
