And IIRC the testing and grading methods that guy uses are pretty weird.
And to then say; windows + defender has more malware than system with kaspersky.
I just looked at date of video and saw 1 year ago.
But that doesn't matter, it's still recent.
did you click "show more" in the description?
It's just ... I am missing extra information. I can toggle all extra features of Windows defender off and turn windows defender itself on, and make a video about how good Norton is. Not saying that is the case. 😉
I just gave it a quick glance before I started the video because I wanted to know how old it was. So, no I didn't click description, I just checked video 🙂
i wouldent be surprised if thats the case
im pretty sure windowes defender would warn you if you have features disabled
like in this menu
so if that was the case we would be able to see it
it does for certain stuff but yea you can tell it to go screw off
then i was wrong
You get a warning.
But there is a button dismis and then warning goes away and turns green.
Can't reproduce because it saved the dismissed messages 😦
either way lets try and fix nanazip
RIP.
now which is the one that instals it????
None?
maybe
It's either MS store or MSIX package.
But no idea what might be going on.
Don't remember doing anything but installing via MS Store myself.
On two computers.
Not sure, 3 week old bug report.
Select any files or folders in the root of the C drive, right click, Nanazip, and attempt to create a archive.
no still dont work😀🙂😕😶 😕😐🙁☹️😭😤🤬😡👺💀☠️👻
(repost)
If it's a bug, nothing we can do. You can create a ticket on github if you really want.
I fixed it
So what was it?
that
(im99%sure that im EXTREMLY stupid)
FINALLY
i think its slower than winrar right now but that could just be from being more tourough at compression
but the compression ratio seems to be a lot better
but i havent yet gotten to the UCAS file('s) yet
And lot of options for compression.
If you just put default 7z from right-click menu, it is pretty fast method with not lot of RAM used for decompression, and Level 4 from 1-9.
1 is Store, 9 is max
and its using 1 less thread RN
its on level 9 right now
Ok, but with LZMA2 and default dictionary etc. sizes?
yeah i havent touched those because i understand literally nothing when it comes to that
UUUHHH that doesnt look normal (IIRC it was a flat line with winrar)
CPU & RAM limited, not disk, with that max setting.
There is reason the default is just 4.
Dictionary size is basically how much data is analyzed in memory while the file is compressed. This mostly impacts how much memory is used, larger dictionaries improve compression ratio but greatly increase memory usage, especially for compression. Never set this so that the amount of memory needed is more than is available!
Word size sets the longest length of repeating data it looks for during compression. Raising this improves compression ratio but reduces compression speed, going above stock doesn't help very much on most files, just slows down compression.
Solid block size sets how "far" data is analyzed between files in the archive. This improves compression ratio but changes how much data has to be decompressed to get access to files. If you set this to 1GB but want to extract just a single 100KB file, your computer will still have to wait to decompress 1GB (or the entire file) to get that single file. If you set this to "Solid", the entire archive will need to be decompressed to get any data, but compression will be higher. If you set this to "non-solid", each file will be entirely seperate, and you can easily add or remove files from the archive.
(bc my SSD is the WORST that money can buy)
And not going to even try to go into those different Compression Methods.
OOHHHH Ok im going to save that for later (in case it peaks my interest again)
If it was SSD bottleneck, wouldn't the SSD max out?
but extremly usefull info
this time it isnt bc its CPU and RAM limited But it was with winrar
Kind of wrong with that Dictionary size.
That isn't the total RAM use, but the size of the compression dictionary that will be included at max.
"This pattern is decompressed to this series of bytes" stuff.
How large that can be.
With that default 8MB Dictionary Size, on otherwise defaults, 7zip/NanaZip uses 63MB of RAM per thread when compressing, and 10MB when decompressing.
My question was IF it was SSD bottleneck, should that show as SSD maxed out?
Yes
yes it would
And with max 3840MB Dictionary size, compression uses 24GB per thread and decompression uses 3842MB.
And each compression block is 16GB by default.
And seems that Compression Level selection just is set of predefined settings for the rest.
Level 4: 8MB Dictionary, 32 word, 2GB block.
Level 9: 64MB Dictionary, 64 word, 16GB block.
it seems to have stopped being CPU limited(or maybe i assigned 5 cores and not 11 threads)
Lightning, yuo can also play around with windows explorer archiver a little bit:
And that explains why you only got low core count usage.
As that Level 9 needs 9303MB of RAM per thread, and by default the number of threads is limited to use at max 80% of RAM.
Not as advanced as 7zip and co, but if you are testing it out.
9GB of ram per THREAD?
Ah, sorry, seems that was combined.
Yeah, sorry, my bad, just 704MB per thread.
That was for 16 threads.
i was gonna say if that was the case i would need 216GB of ram
Is that some w11 feature because I've never seen it in win10?
New in Win11 24H2.
"just"
I only discovered this window today 😄
I was also suprised, was clicking around and found it. "Wow, neat!" 😂
ahh w11 only... too bad w10 is my last wandows os
And only the just released latest version.
16896MB seems a lot more reassonable
So I don't have that yet, as I'm still on Win 11 23H2
Haven't bothered to try to force-update yet.
what force update?
im on 23H2 aswell 24H2 isent available
I just receive regular normal updates and I got it? 😒
oh wait i need some rest,i thought that you wrote 7040MB instead of 704
They do rollouts. So not everyone gets it at the same time.
Those are spread over about 2 months for consumers.
And I'm on Enterprise version, so even longer.
So you just got this months cumulative, not 24H2.
I just update my PC.
soo i should have assigned 8gigs of RAM instead of 6
Ah, yeah, it was in there, just looked into wrong place.
Because I know what is comming, and I am not updating my PC for a while.
Looked into "New -> Compressed", and not Compress To
Although I don't think the recall feature will be that bad after all the backlash.
Windows promised it will be opt-in and not opt-out.
keyword:promised
Installed Photos Legacy, and uninstalled the new "Improved" one.
You can always test it out, it's in the Windows Insiders atm.
Also, they promise us we can remove recall totally from our system.
Just that MS couldn't just make that Photos Legacy be normal listed app in MS Store.
Need to use button inside that new Photos to get to it and install instead....
Before you can uninstall the new one.
I'm fucked then 🤣
How so?
I uninstalled the photos app without installing the legacy app
I don't follow?
You can reinstall that new Photos, but still absolutely stupid way.
Just open photos in paint
true
Good old paint never fails.
Now that's a piece of software standing the ages of time 😂
Ok, the URL being shared elsewhere:
https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nv2l4xvmcxm?hl=en-us&gl=US
i would just love if we could use a GMAIL account to log into windowes stuff
That's the one thing I dislike about proton mail.
How large is the legacy app?
In order for it to work with mail.app on mac, you need a bridge (software) but for that you need to pay 😦
Can't be arsed to dl it either 😄
So, proton is amazing for privacy and freeware, aslong as you use the browser service.
And now the current version of that Photos Legacy doesn't work without the new Photos installed anymore...
💀
Talk about shooting yourself into the foot.
Kit, look into immich.
open source, cloud photo library.
Think of iCloud photos, but then fully open source and self hosted 😄
just got to the UCAS part
No!
❤️
You can run it locally if you want 🙂
docker 😉
I am really happy with it. They are working super hard on the project.
Adding a lot of features. Really great community and developers.
immich.app/blog
I think it was Kade who recommended it to me.
When you cannot migrate, when there is no install to migrate, maybe just continue instead XD
also, what does switching compression from foregroung to background do?
Ok, installed Photos back for moment, ran Legacy, uninstalled new one and still works for now, but will see when it stops again.
Probably CPU priority.
If it is at same level as normal stuff, or at lower priority.
because both CPU and RAM usage stayed the same
Difference would show if you used something else CPU intensive at same time.
i think i know exactly what im going to do then
actually maybe no,i much rather torture my laptop
i LOVE torturing my laptop
How do I get wandows to see my custom photo app as a photo app?
Don't forget windows likes to spread stuff out:
So there you can also find "legacy" stuff like windows media player.
I know where to select default apps
but I can't chose my app that took 30seconds to make...
and here you can even find more:
So maybe they moved photos legacy to one of those.
Mhhh. 🤔
You mean in here?
This
No clue, W11 is different.
You have to select default app for every single file extension.
Nice one 👌
Legacy photos is actually in the new app under settings > Photos Legacy
you probably need to meet some API requirements
which opens the MS store it seems
Another fucking reason I hate windows
Can't just set my custom app that has no bloat whatsoever
Mac isn't better I am afraid 😦 On that front.
There is a reason why I'm switching to linux with my new pc.
I am rooting for you 😄
Because. Fuck. Windows.
Why? Because it has a minimum requirement to work with another program?
Also, maybe it has to be an installed app in this ui. you can always try changeing the registry directly
Photos app opens the image based on the commandline argument when clicked
I can do the same with my app that took 30s to generate.
I dont see why I can't select that one.
It needs to be registered in Windows stuff to appear in those lists.
go to a picture (or any other file) > right click > (advanced view >) open with > other programm > other programm on my pc > navigate to our app > set as default
Sorry, I though custom app = self written code.
It is. I shouldnt have to sign it? I guess I can try though...
I think you have, but I never have done it because well... this shit ...
Need to add right registry entries via some method.
Or that manual add per extension via File Explorer, and not via Settings menu.
☝️
Again different.
Literally, they said it was their own code.
Code signing is a cryptographic operation that can be performed on an app in order to verify its contents and publisher. Smart App Control considers apps signed with a trusted digital certificate to be safe, and allows them to run on a protected computer.
Yes, and unsigned code runs fine for most parts still.
Let's test... assuming I can sign with community...
Yeah, I see that 😂
Unless Windows has been configured to be paranoid or you want to use specific high security APIs
I can run my .py script fine. That doesn't mean I can run an .exe or .app
It is only kernel mode drivers that need to be signed to work at all (without lot of extra steps)
Code signing is a cryptographic operation that can be performed on an app in order to verify its contents and publisher. Smart App Control considers apps signed with a trusted digital certificate to be safe, and allows them to run on a protected computer.
Note that "Protected computer"
Doesn't say only kernel mode drivers?
When Windows has been specifically been configured to not allow unsigned programs.
Which isn't default, except for Windows S
We don't know what Kit has enabled. Or do you?
It's also disabled here. Already checked.
And the point is, apps need to REGISTER with Windows to be shown in those Settings "alternative programs" lists
So Windows knows they exist and can handle specific file type.
W11 let's me pick the app.
Because almost all normal programs DO register as part of install.
Yeah, I understand that part.
I though the problem was if you select it directly (see screenshot "choose an app on your PC"), it wouldn't work. And I also know this is W11 and not 10.
No, just that it wasn't shown as ready alternative in Windows 10 easier selection, that applies the specific program to work for bunch of files in one.
Which Win11 removed as option as it made too easy to switch away from MS defaults.
And need to either register, or do it by extension with that manual pointing to executable.
side note: google and someone else filed complain about that this week. About the Edge browser being "forced" and market manipulation etc.
Early in Win11, you didn't even have the current "per program" selections.
Where you see all the possible extensions the program has registered as alternative handler for.
And only had raw extension list...
And it was about MS defaults and how easy/hard they are to set. Not sure what will come out of it. Because it was easy for me to set Firefox as a default. During the installation, Firefox asked me to set as default, I clicked yes and that was it.
I remember that
I was ranting about it.
But it did change fairly quickly I believe.
Was blocked for long time in Win11.
And those could just open that Settings location for you to select every one manually...
But the thing is, they filed a complaint now.
Browser Choice Alliance Formed to Raise Awareness of Microsoft “Dark Patterns” That Limit Consumers’ Ability to Use an Internet Browser of Their Choice
New Group Calls on The European Commission to Include Microsoft Edge as a Gatekeeper under the Digital Markets Act
So even after Microsoft loosened up, it seems not enough to some.
I looked into the registry option. I don't know.
This screenshot showed you had to do it per file type.
Signing wasnt the magic key
So somewhere in the registry...
blaah can't be arsed anymore.
Just use that manual browse?
.
So, when you switching to linux?
When I get my new hardware.
and have you picked your poison?
Like distro?
uhu
Ubuntu most likely. Maybe arch... haven't decided yet. Depends on how much hell I want.
might be alright
remember that if you update something on arch and it breaks, you will be considered the problem
Ready-Made NAS from Synology, QNAP and co. are Pretty easy to set up, don't use much power and offer many functions with packages.
But most of the models don't offer much power for functions other than file shareing.
If you go the DIY route it offers much more felabilit. You can use NAS-OS like TrueNAS, UnRAID, or other as a base and then install dockers/VMs with additional Software.
Or you can go with a VMM OS like Proxmox and build everything from interconnected Containers/VMs
Use nixos
The amount of WTF in Proxmox...
Starting from using heavily customized kernel, that ISN'T based on long-life major version...
ProxMox VE 8.0 uses Linux 6.2.
ProxMox VE 8.1 uses Linux 6.5.
Neither of which are supported by mainline anymore.
6.1 and 6.6 would have been mainline LTS...
4th monitor confirmed
ngl i've been tempted to find a way to do 4 monitors & my tv
i'd need like $400 worth of mounting hardware
and a desk remodel
im still gonna be rocking 3 just there all gona be the same instead of having an od one out
having a 24 inch next to two 27 inch monitors was driving me nuts because of the scaling being wack
The irony, I just cashed in my seldom used Citi points for a discounted Apple gift card. Now to find out how to spend $55~
scaling between 24 and 27in works fine on kde
Not gonna go to 3 just yet...
2x32inch is plenty of space.
you're mostly safe if you learn the safety mesures :
- check wiki home page before updating after a while, to see if there is some breaking changes that need manual addressing BEFORE RESTARTING
- apply .pacnew config files if you didnt modify the old default one, for things you are using default, so it is updated default (that's part of how simple arch is, it's sometimes is too simple, like this)
- if kernel update, close important apps and restart before starting any new service/system app
if you want a install and forget, you probably better off using mint
mint is currently a kind of tradeoff as it seems between arch edge and unbuntu stable
yeah arch is what you use when operating systems are your hobby or your profession
if you want to actually use your computer with your OS getting out of the way, arch ain't it
i know that design of something is meh when it needs quiestionable workarounds
i work with shapely lib, which passes polygons to plotly that draws tham as lines with color filling area inside
it is displayed fine even when crossing lon -180
I used it before to union polygons, uniting them together
but... now that I used geographiclib to computae accurate land distances, I have some polygons that cross that lon -180
and looks like it causes union to break (at least, the only thing i changed was going from growing point to a polygon with margin in degrees to the more natural distance in km)
Looks like what i need is to find such polygons and break them by -180 and then run union...
ok new idea - I could just look for every pair of points in polygons if diff is something weird lik more then 180 degress...
no, i can't because that condition would trigger around poles (and there are points in greenland and antarctic)
it looks stupid problem but LLMs to be clueless about it 🙂

my first thought whenever i see something like this is "why isn't everyone screeming that this breaks laws of thermodynamics?"

Interesting stuff. Didn't know such torpedo's ever existed. 1877 Was before my time though.
its been fine. I have only had arch break once, and that was me accidentally turning off my laptop before the update could rebuild the bootloader config after updating the kernel. I just needed an arch usb to run the command and it has been fine ever since
arch is nice as the AUR allows you to install pretty much anything with a package manager
(tho you do have to be careful with AUR as it is not official and may have dangerous packages)
How did you manage to turn off laptop before update could rebuild the bootloader?
i started an update and did work while it updated in the background
i forgot i started the update and shut down the laptop
i realized what happened when the konsole window popped up with dracut still running XD
and then it shut down
Oopsie.
havent done that again lol
But, you learned from it. And it was easy to fix (or you make it sound like it was easy fix). So win-win.
yeah was not that bad, just had to ask if anybody had an arch USB drive (a classmate did)
I am more lazy. I have seperate USB sticks for different installations 😂
yeah i started carrying an arch drive after that
on the plus side, i learned how to chroot
🙂
I would also start with Arc tbh.
Been hearing for a long time how "hard" arch linux is. And then other people say it really is easier now with the installer. So I want to see what's true and not.
mechanics are pretty simple stuff (not talking about pendulums though...)
and if there's a way to simply construct mechanical advantage, without any external power source etc, it makes me wonder... if there are alternatives to that in managing heat and electricity
Got my new mouse, VXE R1 Pro, love it so far. Crazy value.
interesting idea i had at some point that earth is like a gigantic dynamic spherical (ellipsoidal...) layered capacitor
sun provides it with photons and other stuff with the wind
we see some kind of discharge happening with thunderstorms and volcanoes (referring here to when ash clouds erupt and have lightnings inside)
there's a lot of potential there
question is if it can be used in controllable manner

not even talking about how bad it is for environment, toxic, expensive, needs maintenance, depends on weather, can't be utilized and hard to manufacture
any fun steam sales?
I came away only getting CP2077 Ultimate on Steam. I was on the fence about Anno 1800, but then I saw it would still require an Ubisoft account.
Tevi, but people stay away from bullethells 😦
Hilariously, CP2077 is still cheaper on Steam than GOG.
The same for all sony games right? I wanted God Of War, but I believe you need PSN asccount or whatever.
I think so. We'll see if companies learn from Helldivers, but I doubt it. And this isn't even unique to gaming. People are sick of needing new apps and logins for everything they do.
Sony Laughs Off PC Review Bombing Over PSN Requirement - November 12, 2024
“By offering them [PlayStation accounts], sometimes, that tends to invite pushback,” Totoki said. “But for live service games,** in order to maintain order of the gaming**, so that anybody can enjoy the game safely, we need to create environment conducive to that.”
I am not sure if I agree with that logic.
I don't have extra accounts for some games and they have the best online communities.
Ah, trotting out the safety/security argument. So many companies have cried wolf there it's impossible to take seriously.
And we already log into steam.
And talking about Live Services Games, when the game in question doesn't have any and is purely SP without any microtransactions AFAIK.
Interestingly, Totoki only mentioned live service games in his statement. He didn’t explain why Sony requires PSN accounts for single-player titles.
We want to create a safe environment for single player games
"So if a NPC harrasses a player, we can ban the NPC PSN account."
I don't know, this is very weird reply to the communities pushback, and feels a bit bs.
Or all the concern trolling from annoying mod users about official mod support and Steam workshop being necessary, because otherwise they need to go to the big scary Internet. When in practice, that means Nexus, Thunderstore, etc. and are perfectly safe.
Why do so many companies point the finger at communities when they push back.
The same happened for Escape From Tarkov. At one point the developer blamed community. Few weeks later, after a good % of playerbase left, they appologised and changed course of plan.
4-5 years ago EFT made a special edition. And promised there will never be another special edition. Was around 100 or more euros that edition. And then years later they made a special special edition. So everyone with the previous edition was pissed off. And after a month of drama, the developers promised to give bonuses from the "special special" edition to special edition.
And the same kinda happened with blizzard and that phone accident.
"Don't you have phones?" is also a jab at the community. Just because community didn't react the way they hoped they would react when they announced their mobile game.
Ooh, I rmemeber that 🤮
To be fair, I think the person on stage kinda panicked and tried to jokingly defuse the situation.
But in that fraction of a second to make up a joke, he picked a wrong one 😂
RDR2 - 19.99 instead of 59.99 euro. If you don't have it yet.

still?
Ok, I was under the impression sony wanted it for all games. Also once already released. But I don't know the details.
no. the end.

Tomorrow or Tuesday, whenever time allows really, I'm gonna be testing out my new camera setup by refurbishing a Japanese iPhone SE 2022 as a christmas present for my mom. Here's what I WILL be doing:
Replace battery, including spot welding, keep original core as spare
Replace speakers and speaker meshes, keep originals as spare
Replace charge flex, discard old one because lightning is a stinky connector
Now for you guys to decide, should I also replace the back glass and screen? I've given this phone the full run-through, and everything is perfectly functional. The back glass appears to be in perfect condition, but I already have a new one. And the screen is covered in small scratches, but you have to hold it at an angle to see them. If I do the screen, I will also be doing IC transfer which is almost guaranteed to result in a dead original screen due to underfill. Reminder this is a christmas present for my mom, perfection is preferred over preventing waste
New camera setup is a wall mounted facecam mk2 from elgato as a deskcam, with microscope on a capture card I can change OBS scenes to focus on. Microphone is modmic wireless bc I'm not buying a separate mic for my work desk
You might as well do it all
Kinda disappointed in HUB's Q&A seemingly ranting that you need to spend $500 on a GPU. But the RX 6800 has been and still is a great deal at $340 last I checked? For a long time now. $200 market sucks, though.
Cannot be had anywhere but US probably.
And HUB is Australian.
Weird to not even mention it though
Because HUB is Australian and doesn't deal in US only things?
They always use Australian prices etc.
The entire Q&A series uses USA prices.
Ok, then I was misremembering.
That tends to be their default for all occasions, to mention the USA price and not even always mentioning the AU price. Maybe even mentioning it less than 50% of the time? Not something I've kept track of.
Making content that needs to be seen by people on every continent is hard due to those marketplace realities of course. So this isn't necessarily anything new. Something about the way they didn't mention the 6800 feels weirdly exceptional though.
Not even an 'if you can get it.'
I love it when teachers give me two articles to read, one is behind a paywall and the other is a dead link
what's astounding to me is how close the 6800XT & the 7800XT are performance-wise
like, OC a 6800XT & congratz, you now own a 7800XT
minus av1
true
i do like HUB because they talk about things in both AUD & USD, & let us americans know what the global market is kinda like
also as an american it's kinda weird seeing other countries using dollars 🤣

50 euro for a gaming mouse is nothing.
yea, the scoll on the M913 is the weak spot. no side buttons on it or infiniscroll, it's just a boring scroll
Only feedback I have for the G5, is that it's a nightmare to keep clean. Too many edges for dirt to get stuck behind.
If you see it fromt he side you know what I mean.
it's big, but it doesn't feel chunky
All those gaps around the buttons is for dirt to get stuck.
I need a mouse, that is easy to open up fully and reassemble 😄
& dpi up/down with the 2 buttons near the scroll is nice
i do keep a detailing brush nearby for general cleaning, but yea, the M913 does collect a bunch of crap between the side buttons
but also, i've never had a mouse with side buttons where that doesn't happen
yea, i used the G602 & G604
until the switches died after a year in each
But look at this one for example:
You can see, the space between the side buttons is smaller, less area for dirt to get stuck.
Just totally different design than G5. That just wants to look cool.
that makes it hard to clean when dirt does get in there
But be a little bit more impractical for cleaning
That too, but also less chance of dirt getting stuck into it 😄
So I guess it's win/lose situation? 🙂
tradeoffs, yea
for $30 i took the risk
sensor is great, i can use it on a couch or a bed & not have it drop out 🤣
I wonder if this one is easier or harder to keep clean 😄
yea, i figured even if the redragon only lasted a year, it'd still be cheaper to just replace it every year
nah, everyone has their own preference
peripherals are way too personal of a choice to me to poke fun at. my only criticism is with people who don't try out a variety to see what works best for them
i wish keyboard companies would agree to include a universal mounting point on the sides & back for someone else (or themselves) to make attachments for standard keyboards
I had completely missed that Corsair had been looted by venture capitalists, before that was mentioned in that GN NZXT video.
same
magically whenever you see a company's quality go to shit, it tends to be because they went public
I still got a K70 corsair, few broken keys
If I go with a vacuum cleaner ovey my keyboard, half my keys get sucked in.
Even going public, and being looted by venture capitalists etc. are two different things.
I think the problem is, we pay 90% for the body, and the rest 10% goes to crap.
I got a k95 but it's in the cupboard, a few of the (brown) switches just register multiple times, can't have that in coding and especially not when those keys are needed for passwords.
true, but it seems like going public is some kind of tipping point. VC's taking over a company & keeping it private is rare now
Get replacement switches and change them?
(Needs soldering)
right, the VC looting can happen to private companies too -- I work in one -.-
doesn't sound like that's worth the trouble for corsair keyboard
i like my keyboard because i can take all the keycaps off & just brush it clean
In Corsairs case it happened first, then the company was put to public market as last step.
this is my first mechanical keyboard, & i get the hype now 🤣
that's usually how they make their money... get in, inflate the value, pass it on.... passing on can be public or the next "investor"
I am really not that happy with my corsair keyboard.
the lamer one -- with only one column of extra keys
200 euro's and it's pretty crap.
There are cheaper more durable gaming keyboards out there.
With better software support too.
I currently use a logitech G815 with clicky switches
I am also looking into Logitech for keyboard.
i love mine so far. Hexgears X5. $100, wireless with usb-c. white backlight, clip on wrist rest, red box switches. such a step up from all my previous keyboards
$$
Steelseries Apex Pro TKL
that way they can make keyboards cheap, and sell you a macro extra side pad thing
nah
Anyone games on 60%?
i used to
Was it doable?
takes some getting used to
I mean, most used keys are w-a-s-d 😄
for my mmo, it was decent because to hard target party members, you use f1-f12, and having it be closer helped
I think I am done with MMO's 😄 I just play casual atm 😛
i even tried this monstrosity
the main thing is getting used to the tighter scale. it's like going from a laptop to a netbook
but I am thinking about going from Viking to a Stalker.
After 6 years gaming on this keyboard, I just notice that I don't use 25-30% of the keys.
yea but that's just how games are designed
And my left hand is left on keyboard, my right hand on the mouse, I am not going to get my hand of my mouse to use right side of keyboard while gaming.
And my left hand going to the right side of the keyboard is akward too.
i like having the numpad for non-gaming stuff
I though so too.
But then I got so used in programming with 60%, that I never use the numberpad 😄
I think I might try gaming with a 60-75% keyboard.
I just explained my reason.
it'd give you more mouse space
It's just something I discovered for myself.
Also that keyboard, if it was not white, looks interesting.
yea, having ultrawide & with some of my games i can hop out and do other stuff at the same time, where having a full keyboard is nice to have
Anyone every heard of NIZ?
sounds like one of those "you can't afford it" brands that i don't pay attention to 🤣
shocker 🤣
swiss keyboard with 4 frickin languages on it sounds like a bit much
I only want the build quality of those countries.
🤣
I still think this is dope AF.
i'd want the old american build quality. clearly overbuilt and simple, but will last a long time
I have nothing against. It's just the insane import taxes we pay.
And I rather invest in my local economy 😄 (europe is local to me)
also easier for insurance, and better for the planet, cheaper, ... so many benefits
Maxeek for you:
everyone's trying to chase the feel of that old IBM keyboard
I don't know, watched it when it was on way way back.
The DIY keyboard is interesting, they send you a keyboard. Without caps and switches you need to assemble yourself.
And then you buy the caps and switches you like and you got a keyboard that you can dissemble fully.
if i had a 3d printer, i'd probably experiment with making my own
could add in your own custom macro sections
Have fun getting a printer with that much buildspace

build the chassis in sections that clip together 😛
do a 60% that's just the main keyboard, have a right side that's a detachable arrow/numpad
And even then, to reduce it being too flexible, you'll need good filament and a lot of it. Carbon fiber PETG would be best. Thats another 50 bucks on top. At that point just buy one lol
Oh no
Welcome to flex city
or stick a piece of cut out aluminium under it to give it some weight & stiffness
Who poked me?
side pads that hook in with usb-c, a few rare earth magnets to keep it stuck together
Bruh... its impossible to find inbox on phone app 💀
lol, that escape button
Why...
To escape ofc?
I still recomend this
https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/product/uhk60v2
The UHK 60 is fully programmable, impeccably built, 60% split mechanical keyboard designed for extreme productivity and ergonomics. Make the most out of your UHK by reading its interactive onboarding manual! Key switch type Key switch type is the defining factor that determines the feel of any keyboard. We offer the following Kailh switch types;...
And then after your third filament roll is done because some some tolerance didn't line up again you're out 150€ of filament, 40€ out for power and 100% out of your mind.
They have an 80 version but that looks too chonky.
🤣
Git gud
yea screw it, i'll just make it out of wood
Thats the move
If I want to have two pieces keyboard, I can turn my K70 into that right now.
I want blank wood caps on mine one day...
But I would have to get those custom made tho...

I see you like suffer?
I don't.
I'm thinking about getting blanks to learn blind typing
Took a week to learn layout, then I used caps with labels for a year, then I removed labels.
That is correct.
Tbh half of the caps were incorrect to begin with.
Now I can tyoe without seeing the screen even... (no glasses => everything is a blur)
120 euro atm.
- 60%
- detachable USB C.
- RGB
- MX RGB Brown
- Hot swapable.
I think my bro has one of those. Or a similar one.
Yeah, I've worked on them before. Was happy with it.
never gamed on them though 😛
"No RGB software" - that's a pro 😄
You don't need blanks to not look at them
But i guarantee you will hate blanks as soon as you need some special character or encounter password field that you cannot reveal
Uhk has that built into its firmware, and the uhk-agent uses usermode driver to flash, so nor shitty drivers install is needed to use it.
That's why you got software keyboard
Pretty much.
I've got a 60% keyboard that you change the RGB by pressing a certain key combination.
the keyboard is programable, but you have to do it by key combinations. Which is tiresome and confusing.
Yup, thats what I love with 60%, they have additional layers to account for the missing keys.
Uhk can have like 20 layers.
So I have a game layer 😁
I don't recommend the trackball module. I had to clean the ball on the regular, tbh could be my fingers covering the ball in fat.
Oh my god, is that the ThinkPad knob?
Knob...
We all know its the thinkpad nipple.
knob sits right between nub and nipple
So Gelsinger getting replaced by some new pure MBA CEO that has just jumped out from another crashing company with Golden Parachute?
https://www.intc.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/1719/intel-announces-retirement-of-ceo-pat-gelsinger
Before anything that Gelsinger might have been trying to do has any chance of making a difference?
Well, after 40 years you deserve to retire.
Well, that's unforutnate
I did like an awful lot of his plan for the company
joystick is perfectly formal and informal
holy shit they are cooked
i bet there will be some AI anouncement
they are fucking cooked
18a won't be good enough
they're gonna get bailed out by the US governme... okay i honestly don't know if that will happen because of you know what
maybe they will make consumer-grade pure-AI gpu (tpu (npu))
but that's it, they're done
Will see what happens in next few months.
But doesn't look good at this point.
I'm looking for a ddr4 quad core or better platform to build a nas box
I think 9th gen core is my move, right?
pat scrapped off everything in the company, sold a lot of shit, begged for cash, did everything possible to make 18a great
i never had faith in the plan but that was the plan
this MBA suit idjit taking his place will fuck it up even more than it already is
Just two internal people set as co-interim-CEOs for now, and board will start looking for new permanent CEO.
But that is what kind of person is probably brought in.
I'm aiming for sub $100
exactly the kind of person who already killed intel from within
Yup.
it's cooked
And one of the interim CEOs is Finance, another is Marketing.
oh fucking ew
Yup.
"we need to do some cuts to make number go up"
no investment
that's it, intel are done; possibly even bankrupt if the incoming administration doesn't help them
AMD will place bigger orders from TSMC to fill the new demand
server CPUs will get stagnant again
desktop won't see greater than 8 core for gaming
at this point the only competition is radeon/geforce and AMD already doesn't put their back into it
though UDNA might be great iunno
i mean "now we make smartphone cheaps that will be best to run Copilot" or something like that
intel cannot smartphone
they have multiple products to try to compete in the server AI space, where nvidia are making all of the money
none succeed
server AI is a two horse race with amd and nvidia
nvidia are £40 billion of sales, amd £5 billion, intel said they would hit £0.5 billion but missed the target
there was ponte vecchio, a mega chiplet design
ok, this does look bad.
came 3 years late and the successor was cancelled
there's gaudi 3 which breaks compatibility with gaudi 2 and underperforms
there's falcon shores which iunno what even happened to
If he was CEO from 2001-2009 and had good revenue. But then 2021 untill now, less good quarters. I don't think it's the CEO.
it's the whole rotten structure of middle management
they're a fossilised company, they blitzkrieged their way to domination and froze in place
Takes years to turn company size of Intel around, and again in semiconductor company, again takes years to make any actual effect, as the product cycles take 5+ years.
pushing out gelsinger now was the worst thing they could have done
And the previous people fired all the experienced people.
Baldur — Today at 4:46 PM
Will see what happens in next few months. 🤔
or he may have ran away
But Gelsinger also did some of that, very weird layoff stuff.
Because when you said that, I was thinking the same. "I don't think a company can change in months after new CEO."
But those might have been board forced.
yeah cancelling everyone's bonuses was a shit terrible idea
all the smart people fled
But in few months, we will start getting some information what the new planned direction might be.
Not that it will be put into action in any way yet.
the next years going to be interesting, a lot of changes recently.
It took Boeing 10 years to get bad, and then another 10 years to start suffering from that.
Intels fall was similar.
Gelsinger was first time they actually seemed to try to fix stuff, but he also did lot of weird stupid seeming stuff.
And this seems to me that board forced him out for one reason or another.
But basically fixing Intel would have taken 10 years as minimum.
stuff like that. Interesting to see what will happen with all these shifts
Germany just added 2 billion euros subsideries to attract chip makers.
because Intel and ZF/Wolfspeed changed their plans to open factories in Germany.
Look what's available on the used market in your area
Well of course 💀
Unfortunately, I live in a rural area with no used market
So that's not an option
Its gonna be an ebay buy or something I find through my personal connections
if you find something reproducable let me know. I want to find the same thing
Will do
Gonna buy 4x6tb recertified drives to put in I think
Maybe 8tb
1 drive of parity
I'm retiring my i7-8086K Home-"Server" to my dad this xmas
I have an old optiplex but its sucks and theres no hdd cages
Ahh
I already have a case that held my old server machine, just ancient Xeon that's too slow to be useful
I dont need 18tb of usable storage
Pcie gen 1 or 2 on that platform
I only need like 8tb
1tb for photos, 2tb for backups of computers, the rest for personable media
I desperately do
I'm at 1.2tb of stuff on my boot drive that should be in a nas just from the last 6 months
good grief
how big are your projects
I also want it to be useful for 4k jellyfin live transcoding
I know the feeling... more space will find a justification to be used by itself
started with my first PC.... 540MB harddrive (the times when you'd still use 3.5" floppy disks for everything, CD-ROM wasn't a thing yet) --- back then we though "we'll never fill this up!" -- now that would hold maybe 8-20 pictures from my DSLR
Lots of photo raws and stupid amounts of misc data
Photo raws are the big culprit though
Yeah, I got a few TB of raw photos + .psd files
I have 300gigs of raw photos since getting my drone and 15pro
Heh
Oh, nice
Yeah, I'm giong to need a way to back up personal photos from my phone too probably
But main use case is going to be for photography raws
when iCloud is full I export and import to NAS.
refuse to pay 1 euro for more space 😛
At some point in 2025 , im going to get the full v1s pro kit, some nand stencils, and upgrade the storage on my ip12 to 512gb
Because if I can pull that off I can offer the service or upgrade my gfs ip14pl
if you do any system stuff
remember to reorganize regularly
purge too old and too close stuff
and remove duplicates
this alone can give dozens of GB at least back
Yeah agree.
She uses google photos and she’ll won’t be able to send emails soon if she doesn’t pay for more
I got a good program for finding dupe images/screenshots
Gdrive
Photos on macOS does this for me
open-source awnd can run in docker.
The tool has more tools that's all.
You can set % of similarity it has to look for etc.
storage must be categorized as critical, unique data, reproducible data, external data (hard to recover), external data (easy to recover)
when you need space you can usually give up external data and reproducible data
So you can say, a dupe is a image that is 80% similar. So you can find stuff with watermarks etc.
Im gonna set up immich as my preferred photo library manager
I like running fdupe
Main reasons I picked this tool:
- open source
- runs in container (docker).
- "It has a special Picture mode that can scan pictures fuzzily, allowing you to find pictures that are similar, but not exactly the same."
Gelsinger has stepped down
Without a CEO that will treat GPUs as a pet project, Battlemage is going to need to rock the world.
tomorrow will tell
Tomorrow is just the announcement, reviews are later, right?
battlemage gotta be good
I would actually say Battlemage needs to be incredible. If it doesn't become an obvious choice in its price range, including against used options, that's going to be very bad for its future.
battlemage will not save us
this is what i think is most important for battlemage :good DAY 1 drivers (or else im not buying ARC EVER)
if it were somehow performant with good drivers (which will not happen) it will be expensive
we are not the target market
acer, dell and hp are
I'm amazed Intel has removed all the CES 2022 press materials from their website. Or gone back and fudged them. They had already gone back and removed all mentions of a Q1 Alchemist release from everything they put out. Though according to them, Alchemist still did release in Q1 2022.
the fuck it did
tomorrow announcement, release on 12.
reviews somewhere between
Sure it did! To one laptop in South Korea! That counts right? Otherwise known as a Cannonlake launch. 🙃
it did! like one card for a specific model somwhere i asia
but it did release!
exactly enough to stop them being done for lying to shareholders
This is also an interesting release cycle because probably all next gen GPUs are probably just going to be monolithic on some flavor of TSMC N5/N4. There's no way Intel is getting better deals than AMD/Nvidia, so that's also working against them.
Nice one herg
For the discussion you can go here: #off-topic-tech message
really? i mean sure nvidia, but AMD too? they just switched to chiplet based gpus
No chiplets for RDNA4.
anyone uses Kaggle here?
Chiplet based high end RDNA4 was cancelled. Probably due to cost. I know people don't like to trust rumors, but in 2024 the idea that you can keep an entire design team quiet when their project is cancelled is preposterous.
I might run into a bunch of Intel employees on Thursday night, I'll be interested in some scuttlebutt about Pat.
Only one i might run into are real estate investors and i just want to BITE BITE BITE
buy them a drink. they will need it
Yep. Employees love Pat, in part because he has had a lot of personal touches and interactions with so many people in the company over time, from the top all the way down to the lower levels.
One person in particular I'm sure could go on and on it, they're also taking one of Intel's buyouts.
guys i need some help i want to revert back to a older version of the game so i can join a server that isnt updated yet how do i do that?
Thanks
@flint garnet That "FICSMAS not working" person is running outdated game version.
Sorry, wasn't my mistake
"i spend so much time using widows" wdym ?
the nvidia drivers problems depends what card you have
any pre 10series or even 20series will be garbage yep
Nvidia at least open sourced the SHIM code fully, so it can actually be compiled per kernel by distros, and don't have to use DKMS
Finally
the thing is everytime you want to do something with windows you have to fiddle and pirate your way through
the "but it just work" is a fake one, because as soon as you actually want to do stuff it does not work anymore
linux is more of an investment, it takes time to set up as you'd like, and get you used to the new uis, but once it's set up it is MUCH LESS annoying to maintain, unlike linux people try to say, because they forgot windows is not XP anymore, and that testing windows fresh for 1 month is not going to show as much problems
i mean
probally they will be harder to launch
but it should have better performance
idk if the game is working bc vulkan shaders are loading
/ downloading
the most difficult part as beginner is figuring out whhat you are needing on the wide linux spectrum actually
so that you can actually learn something useful instead of learning unlinked too far things
linux things expect you to already know linux things
starter explanations are mostly either utterly incomplete, or critically outdated
I recommend you start by learning commandline and linux device and system file structure
then it will be easier to learn everything else, because everything else either use, define, or rely on this directly
it didnt really ruin it
it just scammed it, like usual corpos do :
claiming to revolution the tech, by simply re packing someelse work
satis factory still not working

Why ask and then delete
Cuz not tech talk?

I can't help but think it was specifically graphics that got Pat axed. The timing is eerie, even if it's a coincidence. It makes me think that Battlemage is going to be technologically unimpressive with regard to the silicon it's using, forcing Intel to take bad margins as the only way to compete.
it's always officially the stock price
Well, losing 40% discount per wafer is going to hurt a lot.
When so many of current Intel products are done on TSMC wafers.
they could declare that garbage products plus too much investment in GPU hurt them too much. plus as a publicly traded company, by law they're supposed to take the greediest path possible. if he's the CEO, any departure from that gets him fired
The rumor mill is going crazy 😄
Here I though I was famous with the 3 pings 😦
Was reading tweakers.net comments on Pat Gelsinger news. And it didn't take long for it to escelate in rumors and opinions.
Told you to buy it 🤷♂️
so, "retired"
Intel Corp. Chief Executive Officer Pat Gelsinger was forced out after the board lost confidence in his plans to turn around the iconic chipmaker, adding to turmoil at one of the pioneers of the technology industry.
As expected. But probably very bad take from the board.
That confirmed by Intel?
Of course not, officially.
But that he lost the board seat pointed towards that it was firing.
If he was retiring or like, he would almost certainly had retained that board seat.
assuming he wants that.
Ok so now my mind is stimulated

They tried for some reason to not to it at first, probably because the cost and being
"unknown" tech.
Bit them into the ass, hard.
Because they do one thing and that thing only: produce silicon based on other people's design
But same thing as with 10nm being so long in development, major brain drain and lot of leadership level fuckups.
One might consider TSMC to be highly specialized
And put the necessary resources into that R&D, which Intel tried to partly skimp on, partly try to do too much in one change, and because the FAB people were being "ordered" around by CPU team with impossible requirements.
TSMC never had that last problem, and their leadership knowns they must do lot of R&D and development to get the new nodes in, to actually make money.
Nah, takes both lot of untargeted research, to get idea where to do the targeted research, to start developing idea for what to include in new node etc.
And so many companies try to skimp on the early steps.
TSMC from what I know doesn't design silicon, they only produce it
Yeah, but still need to do the same work as any other fab company.
And both Intel and Samsung have been shaky on that, and Global Foundries etc. have stopped even trying.
Part of Intels problems were product side having too much say in what to try to include in next node etc.
Tail wagging the dog.
But not all.
when i analyse data,
at first it's about throwing in what i know worked before to get high level view
then to implement a bunch of idea of what to do with specific data, quick iterations
and then it's much more clear where to dig, what to polish
guess it's pretty much the same
We do?
And are getting more?
Just not currently on latest nodes.
it's almost like having more control over production makes for worse product... because people start taking shortcuts withut having to consider more generic cases?
Intel postponed their plans for building fabs in Germany
idk about WD/TSMC or whoever else was going here
Tesla can go eat shit
- Buy up promising EV company
- Use your reputation to make them famous
- Stop them from following good ideas and make them do whatever the fuck you want
- ???
- Profit.
CyberTruck, yeah
Lot of other stuff in earlier ones too.
The camera focused "Autodriving", removal of lot of controls etc.
why on earth sorted(some_dict) returns sorted of it's keys only?..
out of possible behaviours this one seems weird
funny that I see teslas around here. with all the problems with power - that's like ultimate show off
hybrid cars are so much better at being EV
they do and they don't; they use DTCO (design technology co-optimizatiom)
TSMC's guys will talk to apple's guys, and they'll figure out ways they can both improve
TSMC makes transistors better suited to apple, apple designs processors that are easier for TSMC to make
then TSMC does this for AMD, Nvidia, everyone
meanwhile
intel is so dysfunctional their design team didn't cooperate with the fab team at all
sapphire rapids design was finalised, sent off to manufacturing, they couldn't get the chiplet packaging working
I mean, that's just optimizing your supply chain and having a supplier that allows for said optimization
progress update on the laptop: they dont see a point in diagnosing it and are directly offering a RMA so thats good atleast
As expected.
altho im still blaming windows primarely for this since its partially windows's memory management at fault and not 100% hardware
it is sadly a unique thing in the fab world
Fair point - but that isn't anything you can hold against TSMC.
A business doing good business because of good business practices
intel are allergic to that entire concept
samsung are some weird hyper corrupt dynasty
intel needs to be broken up at this point. it's proven it's too big to innovate
Nah, that is purely Exec level problem, which then gets the rot into middle management too.
break it up, don't break it up, it's cooked
battlemage seems fairly well priced but they can't be making any money off of it, probably part of why they forced pat out
And point is, you cannot split it up for multiple years.
As Intel foundries are only set up to be used by Intel.
And the change to that is only coming in 2027 or so.
The point where someone else can even start to really design a chip to be produced on Intel foundries.
also the chips act funding has a stipulation to prevent splitting it up
Yeah, lose lot of the benefits if they don't keep at least 50.1% stake.
Holy shit, DPG, company who owns most media in BENELUX is going to test out if people want to pay 4 euro if they don't want cookies.
So EU is like: these cookies need more transperancy, add cookie banners and allow users to deny cookies in EU.
Companies: ok, pay us per month for no cookies. WTF?!?
Only article I was able to find in english:
www.belganewsagency.eu/dpg-media-tests-4-monthly-fee-for-cookie-free-access
I hope they get sued to hell for this.
yeah that's illegal
It's already common practice for sites to give you the choice of ads or cookies
Which I also deem non-compliant with EU regulation
EU DSA is very clear on this, it's not "pay to not be tracked"
But paying for no cookies? 🤔
Also, what if I just block cookies in my browser. Then I can't use their website. Unless I pay 4 euros.
You need to set a cookie to save user's cookie data
I don't get what EU is doing with cookies. First they are against cookies. And now they allow companies to ask money for no cookies?
Also: how does that payment work? How do they track where to not track you?
*user's cookie preferences
But oh well
That's what I don't get. And apparantly meta was doing the same and a court ruled that meta was allowed to do that. But needs to provide alternative service for the users it's blocking and can ask money for that service.
Enshitification continues.
Well, see, it's like this:
You have the consumers. And you have the companies.
One of them is licking your boots. The others you technically rely on for being employed but not really - and your bootlickers would probably help you out if you're just nice enough to them

ngl, this is cool:
Two navy ships guarding the Yi Peng 3 because it's being investigated.
I didn't know we could follow this live on a map. Pretty awesome.
Well, that ship almost certainly did intentionally cut two underseas communications cables with its anchor.
Is that even confirmed?
One of the anchors was damaged, and the ship was at right positions at right times, and had speed changes and turn to the side of the damaged anchor over both.
Not officially, but all the data matches.
No.
From public sources.
Including that AIS tracking.
It even tells type of ship: law enforcement 😄
Figured 🙂
Right side anchor is damaged, it slowed down and turned right at the times the cables got cut.
Cause last thing I heard it was still speculated, and they are being investigated.
Traficom's Cyber Security Center has investigated the extent and impact of the incident. The case has affected about a hundred business customers and there have also been effects on consumer connections. Both cables seem to have been broken during construction work, so it was a normal damage situation. The repair work has been completed. The police have not started an investigation in the case.
Different thing.
different cable accident?
That was for hoe damaging ground side cables.
Near Helsinki.
Just cut internet from 6000 people.
Because nothing official will ever be said unless the case is 110% certain.
The ship thing could be an accident, but Im running an
on that.
Wait and see for now.
Same with the previous case, where Russian owned, Hong Kong registered ship cut stuff intentionally, and even lost one of the anchors in the case.
But cool website with real time ship data.
Like before, the anchor was raised in between the hit-points.
Yeah, three ships (2 war ships and 1 law enforcement) guarding your ass. You know you in trouble 😂
In the previous one, with that other "Chinese" ship, the anchor was lowered about 10km before the stuff getting cut, and then raised few km after for the first one, and lost on the second.
So absolutely intentional, and the nominal owning company was traced to be actually owned by Russians.
And this has all the hallmarks of being repeat.
Including the AIS stuff.
Anchor dropping could be fault, but dragging it for long time, then raising it, and dropping it again few hours later isn't.
I am going to sit here and watch this all evening.
Maybe I get to watch a boat chase 😂

Although I think this one will win.
That ship has been stopped since less than day after the cuts happened, not going anywhere.
Although it seems not to have many battle capabilities.
At one point there were Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and German ships near it IIRC.
What are the Germans doing there?
Because one of the lines cut was between Finland and Germany?
Ah. Was thinking, they are a bit far away.
And the other was from Sweden to baltics, don't remember which exact country.
It was stopped once it entered Danish territorial waters.
now it's only german law enforcement and 2 danish ships.
And wasn't in international waters anymore.
weird they didn't send warship either.
also, last known position for website was 76 days ago MURMANSK*
Last port it left was one of the Russian ones little south of St. Petersburg.
Outgoing to Egypt IIRC?
Not sure what the official last port is, I just discovered the website also has a last known location.
So left Russia, almost certainly cut couple of seafloor communication cables, then got stopped in Danish Straights before heading to Atlantic.
Depends what that AIS is set to report, or what some other sources say.
More like left Russia, went blank for two months. Then caught 😄
No, it had done run from Egypt to that Russian port in meantime.
I wonder why it isn't on myshiptracking
Ok, so don't know where it came to Ust-Luga from, but was heading to China via Port Saud and Suez Canal loaded with coal.
Ust-Luga, just outside of St. Petersburg.
Interesting ... mhh.
Undamaged anchor on left, damaged anchor on right:
we love deep sea cable cutting
And AIS showed the ship turn right about the time the cuts happened, and slowing down momentarely.
Not sure, I read account of people who boarded the ship and found not out of the ordinary.
Why would there be anything out of ordinary?
Person gets orders from ship owners to do thing, they do thing, and continue normally?
However, Russian maritime pilot Alexander Stechentsev, who boarded the ship to guide it out of port, told The Guardian that there "was nothing unusual about the vessel." He added that he took the ship to a receiving buoy located 11 miles offshore before disembarking.
And that happened before the cuts?
And why would he take a look at anchor condition at all?
Point is, that the right side anchors prongs have been bent outwards.
With pics taken after the cuts happened, but before it dropped that right-side anchor at the current position.
If they have pics of the ship before the cut, and the anker isn't in that state. That would be a solid case.
If the ship left port of Murmansk with that anchor already in that condition, different story.
But even if they have the proof, China is not going to cooperate as they hope.
Even the cause is pretty clear.
Happened very shortly after Ukraine got permission for long range strikes into Russia with Western weapons.
No, only for very limited range strikes before.
Two weeks. And not everyone gave permission.
Also this is why I believe China will not cooperate:
This isn't the first that a Chinese vessel is destroying an underwater asset in the Baltic Sea. In 2022, the Chinese container vessel, the 'New New Polar Bear' had damaged a gas pipeline after its anchor dragged it across the seabed. China acknowledged the incident but claimed that the vessel accidentally damaged the pipeline due to stormy conditions that were prevailing at the time.
They can acknowledge it, but if the cause is out of control of the ships captain (stormy weather) ... 🤷♂️
Time to start protecting sea infrastructure more and more. Because they are clearly a weak point. And fragile.
When the markings at bottom of the sea showed the anchor was raised between the two cuts...
Or find an alternative.
They released pictures/videos of the ocean floor?
And that the owners of the company were found out to be Russians, just Hong Kong company.
