time for a dumb windows question: is there a way to have files and folders in the same folder, but have them ordered differently?
i'd like to have the folders by name, files by date or size
I think you do that by clicking that field in file explorer
Closest you can get is setting group by type and then sorting by your desired method afaik
There is probably a tool to do it though
@jagged snow on cold air 5800x achieved a max score of 19120pts cinabench r23.
At 5.29ghz all core static
Sadly I didn't get the Benchmade save in time before cpu overheated
I have very narrow windows before cpu just crashes
So it is the monthly reboot day again...
Reminds me of the guy that asked me why his Rocket League was acting weird.
Turns out that ever since he built the machine like over a year ago, he never rebooted it even once
Well, there is a reason why MS went to forcing security updates and reboots after them...
Yeah
At my old job I learned that the most bizarre and seemingly unexplainable issues arise from having windows run for too long
Programs not handling the "time since boot" counter being reset back to minimum value just before overflow.
Bad memory that that happens every 36 days or so?
But as general idea.
Or might now be 64 bit and not be issue anymore?
yea i noticed a few from even just running it for a week for the fun of it
@jagged snow why does lowering the voltage give me even higher stable clocks wtf. 5.1ghz is stable on just ambeint at 1.32v
Lower temps
I went from 1.36 to 1.32
And it might actually not be stable
It's so far holding stable for the bench I'm running
It’s lower temps from the lower voltage
Temp scaling is higher than voltage at a certain level
Which bench are you testing on
Cinabench r23 multicore
If the bench doesn’t stress the instruction sets it should be more stable
Yeah so cinebench doesn’t really stress instructions so the cores aren’t working at their top
I test stability on ycruncher, uses every instruction set it can
That is low, you might just have a good sample
My a8-5600k can do 6400mhz 1.85v on cine r11.5 but can’t do 6000 1.875 on ycruncher
What are you using to monitor?
Hwinfo64.
Repeated boots so
Rn I'm haveing trouble repeating it for to the aircondiner not being on
If your stability depends on ambient temps it’s not a good stable oc tbh
No it's not stable lmao. This is I'm going for benches
Stable oc is 4.8ghz all core with pbo
I also don't have proper cooling for these oc speeds lmao @charred willow
I'm running on an aio and getting to the point where people are using like phase change cooling
If you don’t have proper cooling you are putting lots of faith in the silicon holding up long term
Damn
Ln2 or dice isn’t that expensive
This ain't for a long term oc. This is like a one time go
bro got Frost III on his CPU
Well yes but voltage kills or degrades much much faster if you are stretching your cooling
I'm in relatively safe voltages for daily use but really stupidly high core clocks been watching current and voltage readings
I suppose it's time to decase my setup and try to oc it that way
Rj is back
Just a little bit
Me and fight or flight doing some irl colab
Brought me back a bit, did some xoc while he’s staying at my place
Yep
A used f1 or venom is like 75$
Yes you just have to post on the oc forums
My venom was 40$ and I got it from Canada
How’s the heat
Too warm
I made this one ages ago, is there someghing I should change now? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qVCjHG
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Deepcool CH370 MicroATX Mid Tower
October 2023
should I wait for newer parts to come out?
It gets you about 10c in bios.
Oooj
Ice bucket is good
This mobo should handle 10c in bios fine unlike my other b450
That bugged out at 10c and below
Or washer fluid from the freezer
No
Kidding but yeah might ice bucket it
its the one i got, and its still going strong 😄
I was told to replace the 7800x3d with a 7600x, is that a good idea? tbh basically the only reason I picked the x3d is for satis and to be "future proof"
The verge needs money I guess 🤣
Noooo
i love the underlying hate about google seo in that article
What makes air conditioners in trains so bad?
1 they are freaking cold
2 they freaking dont care
3 they have ability to make you want to sneeze and your eyes hurt
4 they fail as soon as it hits 25°
and make your packed train stop in the middle of the sun on a 34° cloudless day for at least 2 hours
I also have a Brother Printer.
Looks the same model, but it's probably older. Have it for 10 years or so
Way better than my HP experience.
yeah, mines like 11yo ... im still on the original starter cartridge 😄
its why i picked laser... the ink never dries up like stupid inkjet printers (i dont print often)
i got sick of replacing ink everytime i wanted to print two pages
It's just solid stuff. Normally, in the lifespan of this printer, I would had to buy 2-3 new ones 😄
I have some old printer, just recently ordered and put some Chinese chips and powder in it
Laserjet CP1025 smth
laser also makes document lasting longer and more resistant to weather problems
without abusing ink aggressive chemistry
Replacing the powder was quite a messy job, mainly due to my inexperience
you're cute
im chillin
itl get warm soon got some 30's on the way
I love the desert
i guess American trains do at least one thing better than European trains
They might get you there an hour late but at least it's somewhat comfortable
Amtrack is actually pretty comfy
lots of leg room
nice seats, 120v outlets
will find out about how good the overnight trains are soon
i've been told you want a bed that's sideways & not front to back
This can't be in Celsius
yup
Is this Australia? How the freak it can get this hot?
it's arizona
I like the neighborhood of Sun City and. Surprise
Maybe it wanted to be that uprooted kind?
You know, one that looks like a materialized ghost if a tree
So no speedtravel with sudden bumps?
at 3 am i got turned from "washing face over the ..." to "jojo posing while grabbing anything to not get sitted on a toilet" in a split second
that's what speed™️ trains do to you
at least they make less stops on the way
That's a DB issue not an AC issue
True
How badly would a Ryzen 5600g limit an RX6800 in games like Satis or Valheim?
When I got back from vacation, after a 4 hour flight. I needed to get from Brussels to my home town by train. It took me another 4 hours. Kid you not. So from Africa to Belgium was 4 hours. From Brussels to the North of my country another 4. Every train was cancelled, or didn't ride normally. Like they only did half of the route and not to where I needed to be. I was so pissed off.
NMBS is the worst train company in the world.
That really sucks
something wrong in eu
I suspect some conspiracy
because every train companies are the single worst
talk to Germans
talk to Italian
you'll see
the train management is not simply bad
it's absurd
everywhere
maybe Sweeden have ok train
but I'm not even sure
Depends on your resolution and settings
At 1080p I'd say a lot, 1440p it's manageable tho not ideal and 4K you're Gucci (CPU is more likely to be the bottleneck)
maybe its from having too many railroads?
btw, which countries don't have government monopoly over railroads?
In many cases the major problems started when the national railways had to be converted into for-profit companies, even if still fully owned by the governments.
hey guys, my former ISP advertised similar hight speeds of 900mb down yet most I ever got when downloading from steam was about 30mb/s
the new one can do this from anywhere I try to download from ... I used to think it was Steam restricting peoples downloads
You mean 900Mb/s and 30MB/s?
MB/s for both
Which would be 240Mb/s?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loqudG71uBM
i noticed one small thing:
its stated that helium was named by somone not familiar with naming conventions - hence the suffix "um"
but here's fun part - in eastern Europe (i checked a couple of languages) it doesn't have that suffix
its "Heliy"

Almost no-one is selling 10000Mb/s Internet, and that would need 10Gbit/s cards etc. anyways.
oh no
The speed you buy is almost always in Mb/s.
confusing the two I have!
And most software use MB/s to show the download speed or like.
either way, my former ISP sold GB internet as my current one does ... yet my current on downloads at 115MB/s and my old one never passed 35 or so
this is my speedtest
But this is about at the theoretical max for 1Gbit/s Ethernet.
the 115 figure?
Yes
so my question remains, my old ISP, advertising GB internet never passed 35MB/s
Gb, MB.
8 fold difference between b(it) and B(yte).
I understand that, lol
I am saying they both advertise 900 down
but downloading games from steam never gave me anywhere near that
But ISP advertizes what you get to their network, not what you get to Internet.
oh?
Countries have had to mandate specs etc. for that kind of marketing.
they're sneaky mofos
one things for sure, I am much happier with the new service
Oversubscription is name of the game.
yeah, the new company are running on their own hardware
How many times over the actual bandwidth they have they can sell.
Often 10-100 times.
something installed on "top" of the other poles
not using the same network, literally
To account for not all users using their connections fully at same time.
same poles in the street but different network
But then crap ISPs can go way over.
my new ISP doesn't even shape at peak times ... maybe they will eventually
worse then, 10 100 is pretty high spec
Remember that Internet is just series of tubes, and you get the speed for the slowest section.
So if the ISP has 100 customers who have been sold 1Gbit/s connection between 10Gbit/s connection from shared point to their network, that is 10x oversubscription.
And then they might have 10 of those sets behind 40Gbit/s connection, and so on.
now I can download 100GB game in about 15 mins 😄
And then the whole ISP only has X amount of bandwidth at peering point to connect to one or more of the big backbone Tier 1 ISPs etc.
could that be why in the uk, the upload speeds are always super small?
I am on 1000/900 ... my old one was 900/100
That goes partly into how the payments between ISPs usually work.
Residential ISPs don't want people uploading because they would have to pay more for the peering.
well, I am loving the new company more and more, lol
looks like they're fully embrasing streamers
its literally part of their advertising
oh, and I am paying half the price now too!
saving about £450 a year
Buy 1000/100Mbit/s 5G connection, the fine print says 10/3 as minimum guarantee.
For Elisa in Finland for example.
YouFibre has a crazy high guarantee
compared to mainland europe ours always sucked tbh
so what makes internet in Europe so bad?
i heard that eastern Europe is just basking in good deals in comparison (including to US)
Get 1000/500 fiber connection from Telia, the spec is 500-1000 down with 600 to be expected as norm, 250-500 up with 300 as to be expected as norm.
Most of EU is still way better than US.
But same problem, big old companies that aren't really trying to compete.
Just keep the level of service just high enough that new small nimbler competitors don't have space to enter because of the infrastructure costs.
As there wouldn't be enough takers to build alternative cabling.
I’m on the middle one. Top one is complete overkill. So is mine tbh.
my ISP sells gigabit for about 1/5th of that price
but they are terrible at maintaining network 🙂
Bit on the bottom is British Telecom. Bit on the top, their own tech is YouFibre
wow, super cheap!
Also the legacy ISPs got into the EU law that new fiber companies that get public funding (even as loans) cannot compete in areas where there are already option(s).
Even if those options aren't fiber IIRC but not completely sure about that.
So no building fiber networks in cities with semi-public money...
laws are always anti competitive
And where they can build, it must be "open access" rentals to all ISPs.
that's not true
in the UK we traditionally had 4 ways to access the internet
ADSL, Cable
Mobile Phone, Satellite Phone
Not always, but in this case the ISP lobbyists got those "public support must not be used to deposit us" provisions in.
now we have 3 land based
and that's why there are us laws being discussed for us network
always does not mean 100%, lol
but that's still not true
maybe my wordage is wrong on that one actually, lol
but I meant much of the time
it's understandable that corporations want to protect what they have already invested in
and these companies can afford to lobbie the goverment
does not mean it should always be success lobbying
you went from "always" to "it happens"
yes!
I also acknowledged that I may have chosen the wrong word
you might be surpised how much it happens
the usefulness of the law is exactly to promote sane competition
it's just that some nasty corporations got to workaround it by lobbying for "seemingly promoting competition" laws that in the end actually refrain it
like the current patent laws
which is a complete scam btw
yeah, there is a lot of scary shit going on out there
I am gonna give Cyberpunk another try ... apparently is a really awesome game these days
Ayo, wtf?
Symmetric speeds at those prices?
yeah bud ... I was surprised too
what do you pay?
40€ (Germany)
1Gbit download (realistically ~750 Mbit)
50 Mbit upload
DOCSIS
That DOCSIS explains the low upload.
"Expensive" to get good upload with cable modem tech.
Both in hardware and in bandwidth needed in the cable, which would mean less download and TV channels.
Fritzbox 6590
Not the user modem, at the other end of the cabling.
Oh
Yeah, symmetric on cable is very rare because of that
In the US, 500/50 and 1000/100 are common
I'm on cable cuz I don't even have fibre as an option and VDSL only does 250
your upload is low bro!
Fucking tell me about it, welcome to German internet plans
even on fibre in the UK, 10% ratio is common ... I was surprised with the new system
I always thought you guys had a much better deal than us in the UK!
I wonder what upload speeds would be required for the average 1080p twitch streamer?
cos I know there are many popular German streamers
50Mbps is fine as long as there's nothing else on the network
so my 900 is overkill afterall, lol
I can't believe it
first subscription service where I have never felt ripped off! lol
I'm currently paying $20/mo for 100/100
My parents pay $80/mo for 1000/1000
Price is set to double in about a year
yikes
Twitch IIRC doesn't accept more than 6Mbit/s in?
And this for a very rural area
I am sure mine will after the 2 year contract ends
Something like that
twitch doesn't do 4k?
No.
And the spec on Twitch pages still tops up at 1920x1080@60Hz, with 6000kbit/s bitrate.
8500 seems to be actual max for video + audio + overhead.
maybe higher for partners?
I believe they have different tiers
I was only affiliate I think it was called
I really should get back into it
Ah, that actual max depends on where you live.
"crappiest" regions can only do 6500 total.
ya know whats wierd?
in real life intereactions, I do not sound like I have a speach impediment
online I sound like I have a minor one!
so minor that most do not notice
Twitch only does 8 Mbit max, so you don't need any more than that
On paper yes. Tho you can give it eight (which it says is for partners only) and it'll still work
Source: that's how I have my ob's set up for esports broadcasts
Seems to be region based.
Western countries get up to that 8500, but parts of Asia for example are just 6500 max.
For the total bitrate, not just video.
These are EU/US numbers
Ah yeah. 500 for audio then. Makes sense
There is the video, then audio, then the container format, then some additional overhead over the container.
Heh, so yeah, I dunno -- I feel like LibreOffice just got bad somehow
I dunno when it happened exactly
@hardy compass Google Docs are definitely the best Linux office suite, but I need something that can seamlessly handle downloaded files (from emails and such)
I used to use that thing back in the StarOffice days, even. :D
Wasn't it something else even before StarOffice?
tried OpenOffice?
I guess not
LibreOffice feels sluggish, it can't do seemingly basic features (or do them in a convoluted manner), and on top of that I had the document layout explode more than once
I have tried OpenOffice too, could hardly notice a difference
idk I've used it a few times for some basic work and it was fine
never had an issue with it but also never used it for anything more than a few minutes of checking a document and maybe making a few changes
I'll give OpenOffice another look, it's been a while
They just said they dont like the libre pack
missed my message? @stray badger
isn't libleoffice openoffice?
Yeah, I thought that libre was the "alive" fork from Open
It's been awhile since I've actually looked into it though
they're both derived from StarOffice, so look and function really similarly
It was forked in 2010 from OpenOffice.org,
Apache OpenOffice (AOO) is an open-source office productivity software suite. It is one of the successor projects of OpenOffice.org and the designated successor of IBM Lotus Symphony. It was a close cousin of LibreOffice, Collabora Online and NeoOffice in 2014. It contains a word processor (Writer), a spreadsheet (Calc), a presentation applicati...
^ looks like Apache took it over eventually though; interesting
New versions as recently as last December, so presumably still active
anyways. Libre sucks aswell
Yeah. I really wonder what happened, 'cause I remember it being quite good originally
I suppose maybe it was just OpenOffice.org which was good, and then Libre just kind of chipped away at it?
i think it got bought by oracle
libre office has worked well for me
Just out of curiosity, what's bad about these suites?
Like many folks, it's been ages since I really had to deal with that kind of document, so I haven't really kept up. I just work in Markdown mostly nowadays. :)
I just use the web version of 365
I don't have anything specific to point to personally, just that every time I do have to boot it up, I seems I'm presented with bizarre problems and overall jankiness. Like it just doesn't feel "right"
A very helpful bugreport, that. :)
"Your software feels kind of Lynchian. Plz fix."
Huh that's interesting, I also have to boot it very rarely, and its usually the spreadsheet but everything feels okay to me
^
I remember pasting data into a spreadsheet wrecking the formatting, not splitting the cells or otherwise interpreting the data incorrectly
Besides the nonspecific jank, it just feels slow, not just by the time it takes to do something, but also by the time the program executes a task
I do, alas, tend to just use Google Sheets for spreadsheet stuff nowadays. It doesn't help w/ that that when I am using that, it's generally in the context of wanting to collaborate with other folks (or at least easily share a "canonical" source), so the web functionality is hard to beat
Not that I like giving my data + time to Google, but c'est la vie
Open Office was good, then the devs had a disagreement, libre office was split off, open office fell behind
I should give Apache OpenOffice a try, though -- perhaps they've been handling it better
Honestly true, 99% of the time I need to use an office suite is to then share it with folks, hardly ever the online version of m365 isnt the only viable option
but MS Office isn't perfect either, I had Word freeze/crash after changing paragraph styling, plus the online version is a nightmare
Like apocalyptech said, the online functionality is a big positive
the online version, is like, astonishingly bad
Hah, yeah, that is true re: MS. I do have to interact with those occasionally for work and it's sometimes shocking how incompetent Microsoft seems
We've entered the long dark teatime of the office productivity suite in general, I guess
in windows, is it possible to reverse the left and right speakers? I am thinking about putting my JBL Partybox 110 behind me
one of the family computers due reinstallation has Office 2003 which works flawlessly
for when I game
ah right the link protect
nice find, thanks
unfair
blue name privilege
lmfao
how does my fiber isp go down so much?
isn't that 10k a minute or something because fiber runs off the government?
iirc apache openoffice was better for a while, but it flipped back recently and openoffice got stall
now libreoffice got most of openoffice features
It might just be their residential fiber but still 99.99% reliability my ass
hey at the very least you are not alone, my fiber optic would also go down often when it was new
it got better over time tough, nowadays the wifi is down rarely, but it still happens a good few dozen times a year
this fiber isp has been around since 1969
By new i mean it was freshly installed in my neighbourhood but fair point regardless
I'm paying for gigabit but if I do a speed test thats not in my state it goes to 160 mbps down and up
USA try not to be fucking stupid challenge impossible
just stick AI into it... its half right half the time
i mean the reassoning is about as brainwashed as it gets but i dont particularly hate the possible outcomes
hmm
our store still sells to russians ... are we fueling the war effort by selling steam games to russians??? US gonna put sanctions on us !
at first i thought you were posting a pride tank =p
Coolers for computers and other processors, such as those used to design parts, or even those actually found inside of weapons
And since the point is to hurt their economy, we dont want anything to be getting shipped there
which it isnt working out too well
I still find it really stupid as the sanctions really haven't done tons to them
And normally if they don't have business in the us
They lose buisnes in Canada too.
And with trudie I sence he's gonna sanction it too
Upscaling or ssaa?
That would be why then
I do know it was just the "performance" preset
Oh then def not ssaa
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I know it aint metalFX
is there a save that would bring most machines to its knees, im tempted to try it
do you care about pure sine wave stuff?
lol
i couldn't get down to 21C right now if i tried
27 in the house right now, & that's with the AC on
at least it's on the box
should tilt that rad up tho so it's not just sucking in carpet fuzz
OH
i see it now 🤣 nice
dirty cheater
i'm used to vents near the ceiling
Hehehebe
i'm still thinking that there'll be some kind of heat exchanger or tap-in in houses in the future for cooling PCs
If I get a house I'm getting that
or like a straight precooler duct
Connect your PC to the fridge
how big is the difference between a 7600x and a 7800x3d? should I just bite the bullet and go for the x3d? that was my plan originally but someone on another discord told me the x3d would be overkill
asking here because my main concern for choosing the CPU is satisfactory
ngl i'd wait a bit to see what the reviews of the 9000 series look like
hopefully its good
yeah it wont be
but good or bad, i'm expecting a price adjustment on the 7000 series after
you'd think... i mean they arnt nvidia
already started
7800x3d is much better than 7600x tho
oh definitely
you should get a 7950x3d /j
no joke do it !
i thought we were sticking to 7000 series
I never have had benched 7k series
no just need stuff to power off safely
car battery
(kidding btw, don't do that)
For Satisfactory specifically, the difference from the large cache is huge.
For many other things the difference is not that meaningful.
In HUBs Factorio benchmark, the 7800X3D was almost twice as fast as the rest of the 7000-series CPUs.
(Including 7950X3D as the game was running on the wrong cores by default).
And Satisfactory is in same ballpark.
Still difference in normal games too, but not as large: (doesn't include Factorio in this one)
We see regular AAA titles become cache reliant too now - this is for Baldur's Gate 3
5800X3D casually matching 13900K
I don't second this advice.
9000 series was announced without an X3D product stack and we already know that Satisfactory is super cache reliant (see above)
So unless we know when 9800X3D will be a thing, my advice is to go with 7800X3D - or even 5700X3D if they're on AM4 right now
X3Ds will probably again arrive half a year later.
i forgot that they didn't announce any X3Ds this time around. yea, 7800X3D if you can afford it
Neither did they last time around.
The initial 7000-series stuff didn't include any mention of X3Ds.
Those were mentioned only much later and actually launched only 4-6 months after the normal 7000s:s
i always forget because i tend not to consider the initial announcement as "the announcement" since nothing they say actually matters until it's in the hands of independent reviewers
so my memory's always off by at least a couple months
7000 normals were in fall 2022 IIRC, then X3D:s were mentioned in january 2023.
7950X3D was out in february, 7900X3D was one month later IIRC, and 7800X3D was two months later?
So the 9000 V-Caches seem to be in the works based on interviews with AMD people, but will be released later than the non-V-caches (again), with rumors being CES in January 2025 as expected reveal.
it scares me
it would be heat exchanger to prevent contamination
and on closed loop for such low load, you can easily do small heat exchanger that's performant enough
People always post this but don't notice that this image is 32 times the size of the lunar mission’s memory
79.3 KB when compressed.
About 2,13 MB when uncompressed, like it is in RAM for display.
Iirc the gamers Nexus coverage mentioned something about 9k x3d coming sooner than usual it that was likely just rumor
My recommendation would be to wait for 9000 release and then buy a 7800x3d
misquil
first time i'm seeing it, but i'd say "my squeal"
uhhhhh i don't
its how i was brought up whem SQL was always pronounced "See-quill" in the company
i don't work in the industry, so i have no idea
but some people say "Ess Que El" ... which is just too much effort
seequill is easier
unless it's a really obvious jump to a "normal" word or a well-known industry term, i'll just say the letters
sequel yeah ... definitely close enough
more 'ill' than 'all' though
but then we have butchering of the english around theres tharn murican parts
& my brain would jump to "sequel" faster if it was CQL
CQL to me looks like "cockill"
🤣
zed squee all !
it's like reading some of those vanity license plates that you need to decode
haha
oh yes
if a website is running apache and php, its a good chance its also using mysql
its a pretty tough n tumble database, free license too, so its pretty popular
what, COBOL too good for you?
all i can say is apache+php+mysql is 10000% better than iis+tango+oracle
and costs 10000% less
mongo gang
but really, if you know SQL, any SQL based database is just ... the underlying tech.
tbh idk shit about mongodb. My unify stack is usung it. It's still planned to switch it to postgresql
i self taught myself perl in a weekend for an intern job at motorola ... used the O'Reily book on perl
motorola used a unix system, with a filemakerpro database ... so i ended up just writing my own data storage in flatfiles 😄 they used that fricken project management website I built them for TEN YEARS before finally moving off it
and no, i wasnt 'that good' either, i was an intern, thrown into something ive never done before and cobbled something together 😄
i also didnt make any money off it cause it was an internship =p
but it was cool ... they gave me executive level security clearance and i could go anywhere in the plant, and do anything on their unix systems LOL ...
first day, the exec was like "to make things easier, just gonna give you top level like me, use this badge" and handed me a badge ...
oh how security was more lax in the days when hacks n malicious shit wasnt so rampant
social engineering is all the rage now... its crazy how people click things in emails without thinkin
Our IT department always manages to fool everyone lol. They do phishing simulations randomly and create really convincing emails
or someone looking at their passwords on windows 11 when they had Recall running
Last phishing simulation was about euro 2024 jersey with company logo and everyone went crazy lol
someone signed up to our site, and took the 'welcome' email body, then slapped a new subject on it and spammed a bunch of people who had their emails stolen (haveibeenpwned) ... changing the link in the welcome email to phishing malware ....
one person actually was kind enough to email us about the 'odd email, i didnt sign up?' ... and sent us a copy of it.
sure enough... total bogus. didnt even have the right 'from' and such.
such low effort to accomplish nothing
Wish more companies used anti-phishing code so registered users can define their own code and know if a company email is authentic or not
the issue we find with adding more ways to secure your account ... most people never bother. and when you 'force' those ways on... a lot of people complain
My bank still doesn't support single-use virtual card so I need to use revolut sometimes
its SO FUN testing apple pay integrations .... gotta have a valid iphone, and bank linked icloud account, and jump through hoops LD
i'm sure they'll switch over to dogecoin soon
paypal .... you know ....
yeah got nothing else other than that and my bank
there was a time they had serious hacked account issues ... but the last solid YEAR there hasnt been a single case with us
fuck the CC industry
Our company vending machines support google/apple pay but for some weird reason, they don't always detect bank cards properly
paypal sucks just as much just so you know
and fuck their ridiculous transaction fees agaisnt merchants
but I need something easy sometimes. Not every website supports SEPA/Giropay
solution... don't have a phone to begin whit
i hear 'venmo' is popular among gamers
My bank completely ditched Visa and offers Mastercard only, guess I have no choice....
never used it, seen it, touched it
then dont pay and use the money to buy the phone instead
yea no but to be honest i think paying by swipping your phone is just a great way to get scammed
yea i dont have a phone and i dont plan on getting one anytime soon
we used to have a gateway account where they charged us 20 cents for every API call ... every api call ... even a call to say "delete this vaulted card" .... we moved to a new gateway =p
lol
i dont pay with phone ... its a phone ... not a credit card
i just whip out my platinum titanium verbranium credit card and wave it over the reader ... then while i wait, i lightly tap it so it does a 'tink tink tink' ringing of metal sound ...
and then it declines
😆
to me a phone is as valuable as a plastic bottle left on the side of the road... just wasted material only good for the trash
gimme cold hard CASH
err: Insufficient Funds
tbh I have nothing against paying with a card. It's just shitty that banks invented timezones
WOO OOO DST RULES WOO DOOO POO
I need a time machine in order to travel to 2025
Check out the reveal trailer for Little Nightmares 3, yet another spooky, yet oddly cute entry in the darling indie series. Coming in 2024!
we should restart the computer industry starting at punch cards
I would travel backwards
The gaming industry might be getting worse but at least there will be some good games in the future
*although rare
the Little Nightmares games always gave me 9 movie vibes
i've watched them on streams/highlights, they look like fun
side scroller mystery/horror/puzzle
The game has some creepy and grotesque monsters
Few days ago I read there is also a new civilization game in the make.
need a PSN account for it?
yet another paradox civ game coming yes
they already have 20 DLCs lined up
oh wait
Sid Civ isnt paradox ... its 2K .. eh, same thing

Wtf steam 🤣
gold bullion
Graduated today.
got a linux boot in but it died time for attempt 2

windows bluescreened trying to restart 😂
actually i have an idea on whats likely interfering
ok apparently nothing was interfering it was just trying to keep launching windows while in the bios and getting insanely confused
thats probably because i nerver changed boot 1 from windows to disabled
should i do alongside or just wipe the drive i doubt il really need 2 windows pc's for the summer
man has not heard of a vm
Is there any word on the Steam Deck being able to run the 1.0 build?
true i havent
ight its installing
i actually accomplished something for once
welp I'm likely gonna be here all night
its downlaoding everything at 0.1MBPS
leave it to linux to be the only thing to have given me a instruction manual in the last year
im guessing if steam dosent give me a This PC option the game isent supported on linux?
ok dam like 90% of my steam library doesn't support linux 🤣
more than 90% actually i can only play 4 out of my 61 games
so what i just get proton 9.0?
odd, almost all of my games work just fine on linux
Installing openwty be like that
not enough loose flux & solder
The mess of progress
he didnt enable steam play
theyre all grayed out cuz of it
honestly i dont think my wifi has ever felt slower
and the worst part its downloading stuff faster than normal because the Alienware has a better wifi card 💀
Ever since my fiber isp went down for 10 minutes every 20 minutes its cut out and in very annoying for downloading a game or playing an online game
this is what you need.
the sad part is its probably still better
$95 minions IP fee
why is it 10 dollars less than the original axe5400 lol
and also you pay premium because "the bandwidth is costly"
while they run ads on their own bandwidth for 4 times less money than premium membership
that is straight up malignant
I mean if they want to restrain people from subscribing premium even though it would get them more stability to make premium closer to ad actual revenues
is straight malignant
it's not even good for the holy dollar directly speaking
i.e they want people to sub premium by coercion
/ keep other business control over ad flow management
hey guys, I have been using a whiteboard to plan my daily activities, I am thinking of literally switching to a large monitor and putting that on my wall ... does anyone know how can work out the cost of running that monitor x hours per day?
stay with the whiteboard
lol
I want something I can easily edit, and panels that cycle with inspirational quotes, reminders, etc
trying to manage my lack of action (ADHD thing)
take the wattage it pulls from the wall and then do the math based off your price per kwh your city charges
you'll also need a large monitor with touch/pen support for it to be useful.
just mount an old iPad next to your whiteboard
don't have an ipod but I have some spare android tablets
so now I need to consider a good app for that too
that's enough. You'll spare yourself the self hatred once you realize that your "digital whiteboard" project you've already spent 400€ on actually kinda sucks compared to your old whiteboard
and there goes all the DeepCool products from our local MicroCenter
i mean.... is that really a loss?
wernt their stuff good? .... trying to think if i ever bought anything of theirs
seems i got Arctic Cooling stuff, and Thermalright stuff ... NZXT .... nope, nothing deepcool
i mean deepcool made some decent budget cases
remember how youtube changed their algoritm recently
the masterpieces I get recommended
Chickenburger and cheeseburger combo is underrated
time will tell
I might just drive it off my PC as I am here a lot of the time
I am telling you right now. No need to wait for time to do that
lol
I'm just trying to save you from that disappointment. It's an expensive project
budget is not my concern bud
German citizenship test: Currywurst or Fish & Chips
If you say Fish & Chips, you get deported
lmao, we love that meal in the UK
now I am tempted to go pick some up too!
fast food ... mm
bro I work in Frankfurt. Try getting lunch without inevitable going for fastfood
goodness me ... this costs the same as a replacement remote for apple TV, lol
also currywurst is healthy
I can't believe I lost my remote
also if you're ever in germany and you have the chance to go to a bestworscht, do it.
I bet @dire igloo can confirm
is that a sausage place?
I can neither confirm or deny these allegations.
yeah you can pick your spicyness and flavour
I really need to go and live in germany for a while ... maybe next summer for 3 months or so
Never had bestworscht, so no clue
But places like these are all over the place
you gotta. Go for a B+ with Cheezy and ask for some fresh onions on it
Get yourself a Currywurst from a place that offers variable spicyness
MS Whiteboard ... LFG
Bruhhhhh, they got one place in Munich and the rest is lumped around Frankfurt
Darmstadt, Aschaffenburg, Mainz
Aside from Munich, that's pretty much as far away as it goes from Frankfurt
Oh, one in Gießen too.
Might actually check that one out at some point, always wanted to visit alternate so I can combine the two
wait there is a physical alternate in frankfurt
oh nice I'll go through there on my trip to marburg
Has some "we got Microcenter at home" vibes but honestly, after seeing Mindfactory in Wilhelmshaven, I'm kinda stoked
man I'm so sad that all the hobbyist stores are going out of business...
Mükra still exists, so I'm happy
I'm a majo guy personally
all the microplastics are slowly replacing the bad organic shit, so we will evolve into synthetic beings
the way my pla prints break idk if I want that
make me out of petg at least
That comes with the stick
idk if this is in your country but try to find a similar listing that doesn't include the streaming device
laughs in 40C
Except UK houses are built without AC with the main focus to trap heat inside - and they usually have a high humidity level too
Omg. I miss global warming.
I really do, lol
We have highs of just 15c at the moment
only a bit above room temperature
its gonna hit 28c today and i consider that to be "eh kinda warm i guess"
They are going to unveil the robotaxi project here in 10 days, I wonder how robotaxi AI is going to figure out our roads lol 🤣
Even humans can't understand our illogical roads and traffic signs, AI is going to struggle too
There’s no patterns for of our illogical road design for ai to follow
AI car software is going to crash here in the first 5 minutes lol
There is no amount of intelligence or experience which will help you navigate our roads
yea they just recalled all the waymos around the valley here
The neural network or programming isn't again context sensitive, just cares that there is a "sign" that it recognizes.
Wait till someone decides to wear a t-shirt with 130 km/h speed limit
there's a big issue showing up where the self driving & emergency assist stuff hasn't been trained to follow traffic cop orders, so they'll just see a pedestrian in the way & sit there
lol
i love chatting with people who think that companies don't exist to make money
Lol, the first lesson we had back in college is that the main objective of a business is profit maximization
Although it was obvious back in elementary school
oh yea this person's bought into the corporate "personal motivation" BS as if $$ isn't the thing that it's all dependent on
but, but, what about ideas? patriotism? making lifes of employees better?
lol
get paid enough and assistance with problems to show employees loyalty and they'll stick around
shockingly
Not sure if it's true but people say companies used to pay trips to exotic places 40 years ago. Today, that is unimaginable
i was trying to understand that sentence but it simply messes up subject
🤣 lemme rewrite
if you pay employees enough and help them out when there's a problem, the company gets their loyalty
either they'd pay & basically write it off on taxes, or they'd pay employees enough to be able to afford it outright
my parents owned their first house at 28, free & clear, & they were considered middle class in the late 70s
Yeah. Back in the days, you could afford a house and a car on a single income.
Today, a single person can barelly afford to pay rent
some of the places in my neighborhood go up on the market, & the pictures of the interior for the prices being asked are just hilarious
30 year old untouched bathrooms
honetly ... why spend $20k on a bathroom reno that 'you' may think looks good, but then the new buyer just reno's it anyways after they move in cause they didnt like it
just leave it a blank slate for them to do it
there's that, but when they're asking the prices they're asking for, to me it better be fucking updated
hehe
ive seen dumpster fire homes going for high amounts, and people still buy them because they live in a dumpster fire house and dont think anything of it
it took me a long time to find a house i would move into... because the vast majority of them were trash ... beat up, bad paint, terrible fixtures, broken shit everywhere
and its like 'normal' it seems to the majority around here
the value's just not remotely there, at least to me
my bathroom needs a remodel ... but since its just me, ive not found the real urge to do so since as is, it works, and im not in my bathroom more than the minutes i need to shower and get ready, or go to the bathroom .... its not like a day spa =p its a bathroom
especially when it's cheapo 2x4 stick houses
yeah
developer homes
some farm sold, and they come in and throw up matchstick homes for pennies
they dont last, they fall apart, people try to sell them and they are just a mess of problems
just checked on the house i grew up in in the early 90s. was like $110k at the time, it was basically untouched last time i drove by it, showing up on zillow for almost $500k now
its why i hunt for 100yo homes ... they been around, they stood the test of time 😄
house im in now is 99
100yo in 2025 🙂
and its been so solid compared to every other home i been in that was 'new built'
around here 40 years counts as old
yeah? so not even a 60s pale brick house?
that'd probably be on the historic register if it's not too run down
i never signed up for the historical society because they come in worse than a HOA demanding all manner of shit be done/redone/changed LOL
the city around here will sometimes just declare it for you
"this tree isnt historical period, take it out!" ... but but its a 80yo tree!. ... "NO! its not the right breed!"
they walk up with paint swtches, and if you are even a shade off, they want you to repaint the whole house 😄
there's really 2 types of "old houses" around here. historical, well maintained, insane price, or run-down, impossible to maintain, and impossible to live in because of no A/C
... but paint fades ...
ooof
yeah, the well maintained historical places are crazy cost
it's 38C headed for 44C today
oooooooof
so yea, A/C is beyond a necessity here
Reminds me how cars in EU have mandatory braking now if you go above the speed limit.
Some asshole wanted €300 here for a 12 square meter apartment. The apartment is very outdated....
i need it for the 90° F days here that happen randomly through summer
Put a sign that says 10 KM/H next to a freeway, and watch chaos unfold. It's the most stupid EU ruling I heard in a while. And I can't wait for shit to hit the fan.
Average rent price here is €15 per square meter and the apartment above is €25 per square meter....
¢25 ?
but if my car has that shit on it, I am buying a device to hack it. Forgot it's name.
25 euros per square meter
😄
depending on what's around it, that might not be too bad
still at 300, thats very cheap compared to what rent goes for around here (renting is more than my mortgage)
here you need a car because everything useful is driving distance, & mass transit is garbage
My colleague at work gave up finding a new apartment because he couldn't find a decent one for a normal price
and then theres that .... so many apartments are just general trash to begin with
bad landlords, bad upkeep, people who rented it before dont care, so its just run down
Here, we calculate how "expensive" rent is based on price per square meter since it's a more accurate measurement
if i could build a "proper" tiny house, i'd do it
here you need a car too because public transportation is crap.
👆
i'd go for a small house, on a big lot .... the further away neighbors, the better ... then just build a small home of just the things i need! although Peanut would object, because i would leave out her entire floor of open wood floors to romp around in
i kinda want to build a tiny house in a shipping container. have it look like crap on the outside so that nobody thinks it's valuable & leaves it alone
self braking cars... oh, is that what you were on about with the speed limit sign
Yes, they read the signs. If you go above, they hit the brake. Or the gas pedal stops working.
ha
right 😄 camo house ...
This technology detects the speed limit in force in the zone through which the car is travelling using cameras and sensors that work in conjunction with the vehicle's GPS. The ISA technology has already become widespread, as it has been compulsory on all new models since 2022.
And GPS can't be trusted either.
More shit that EU is forcing upon us, but we are free 😉
yeah, a lot of times the GPS in my car thinks im on the side road next to an interstate or freeway
i liked the idea of mandatory backup cameras, but yea, some of this tech still needs to be worked on because it's a solid 10 years off of being ready
Eh, I will buy a obdeleven.
obdeleven.com shit is confusing.
But something like that, that allows me to enable and disable features.
Drivers can also switch off the system, but it will automatically reactivate the next time the vehicle is restarted since the system is connected to the ignition.
It's like auto start/stop feature. I can disable it. But it always enables again 😂
🎵 "Hey teacher politician, leave those ~~kids ~~ cars alone!" 🎵
i did like seeing LTT do the modernization stuff to that 2004 civic a few weeks ago
I don't watch LTT anymore 😄
it kinda felt like the old days
janky as fuck, but really useful
if the AI stuff associated with sign & pedestrian sensors wasn't crap, it'd be nice
my car has been trying to make me blow out my tires on potholes, because i have to swerve to avoid them. but it thinks i'm "leaving the lane" and yanks me back
Really, I want to have control over my car. At all times.
There is enough stuff happening while I drive (other drivers, pedestrians etc) if my car has a will of it's own, that doesn't put me at ease.
full self driving or lemme drive it
I once saw a BMW, make a full stop (from 70KM/H) in front of a orange light. Like it was the car itself, because the back lights started to blink for danger. When I pulled next to the driver, I could see he was in shock.
i did finally figure out (now that i have a car with the features) why people are just crap on the road. the lane departure & emergency brake assist stuff shuts off at 45mph/70kph, so people will intentionally drive slow to mess around on their phone to "stay on the road".
That pisses me off.
I always try to be a conscience driver, pay attention to whatever I can.
And I still improve my driving as much as I can. Because I never want to hit anybody or cause an accident.
And then I see people drive around without a care in the world.
Like, how freaking hard is it, to put on your blinkers when you switch lane?
BMW doesn't make cars with blinkers
It's literally, one finger that pushes a handle up... or down... 1 finger!
I do it on automatic pilot. I haven't blinked maybe 2-3 in my life and I immediately knew I fucked up.
Benelux has terrible drivers imo. Pretty arrogant. Don't think the rules apply for them.
cars to dread on the road:
-BMW
-Prius
-Dodge Ram
I feel more confident driving my 14 year old manual car than my parents car because their car is automatic and has all of those "security" features
And I can fully get that.
At least I am in complete control when driving my old Seat Leon
Mercedes of mine once braked, because pedestrian appeared from between cars. maybe 30-50 meters down the street 😂 I was like "wtf????"
In a 30 KM/H zone even!
The system was clearly confused, maybe the sun, maybe the distance calculation was wrong, but my car braked.
Could even been 100 meters, it was reaaaaly reaaaly far.
is there anyone who found LLMs helpful for data analysis/science/statistics?
a couple years ago Teslas were hitting the emergency brakes because they thought the full moon was a yellow light
Yes.
My former boss had a mercedes and he was a very bad driver. If the car didn't have emergency braking, we would have crashed 10 times already lol
been in use in that field for years before chatgpt
Have you seen the release system for when cybertruck charger get stuck?
oh god no
which one? cause i get terrible results anytime i ask something what i don't know /not sure math about
You have to peel back some plastic and pull a chord 😂
HA
i did have to do some exploring to figure out how to get my car to unlock & start if the keyfob was dead, that was fun
sorry, let me correct a question: LLM as assistant in doing something
the whole "let's get rid of anything mechanical & have it be a solenoid" is one of the dumbest fucking things
"the tesla is intelligent" sir, your entire post is proof that it ain't
Wait, maybe I misunderstood you. I used GPT 3.5 Turbo with Duckduckgo AI. No need for account. No data. And private.
ok. strange...
now i'm interested in hearing what were you asking, and then maybe how
The best part is, he admitted a day later, he faked the story, to show what to do in case of it getting stuck. But that's still the way to do it. On a 100k car.
ha
cause i cant help but feel like every time i try it just spits out some halucinetic nonsence that seems legit until you try it, and other 50% is just nonsence
I can't remember, some scientific facts mostly.
i mean, simple "how to do X with pandas" it does do
but when i asked how to aproximate values in 3d matrix... it was a long road to get anything functional
so he's a double moron, for faking the post, getting caught, & not even getting a check from Tesla for doing an instructional video for them
Stupid stuff like this, it does well:
Here, a car dealer would say you just voided your warranty if you did anything like the guy did in the video
"You pulled the string? You just voided the warranty since only we are authorized to do that!"
bro is that PLA??? That plastic behaved just like one of my prints I broke
it looks super cheap
intentional. the whole car is famous for being bad & expensive at the same time
my sister works in luxury retail, & the amount of absolute garbage quality is everywhere. but it has "a look" that other rich people know is expensive, & that's the only point of its existence
as long as you break both your legs in an accident and your steel side panels look untouched it's good lol
Yeah, the car industry, especially higher end models, are taking more and more shortcuts in quality. And they get away with it
how do you make such garbage quality and still don't have a crumple zone
i mean, i guess i'm glad i'm not wealthy enough to want to buy an expensive car, because then i'd be really pissed about any minor thing wrong with it
"Oh, it's mercedes so it must be quality and good and it costs 60K? Must be brilliant."
I leased mercedes A class. Good car. But still expensive to me. 30-40k.
My dream car is a BMW M3, but that's just a dream 🙂
Actually has there been cybertrucks crashed already? I want to see images 😄
had my Bolt for a while now, & i really couldn't care less that it has about 120km shorter range than a tesla. its best quality is that it isn't a tesla, and that reflected in its price, which let me invest elsewhere
Looks pretty ok no?
still totaled, but this time with none of the occupant safety!
Image might be a fake. I am double checking it.
there are plenty of articles about wrecks already
business selling salvaged auto parts from car wrecks has been accused of falsely advertising the availability of Tesla Cybertruck components using artificial intelligence-generated crash images.
The car parts seller uploaded their Cybertruck listing on social media, and accounts left comments highlighting what appear to be indications that the post included inaccurate imagery. It is not clear whether the page was aware that the images were false at the time of posting.
Ah, AI put to good use I see. What a benefit for humanity 😂
we had one take out a street light because of the gas pedal issue
It's a sad time, that I have to fact check everything now on the internet.
yes but not as many as expected. Most cybertrucks are either at a mechanic or recalled
for $100k minimum & pre-reserved, i'd want a fucking driver included
Isn't a Ford Mustang cheaper?
58.460 euro Mustang GT for Belgium.
3.000 extra for automatic
I wonder if it comes with ISA system 😂
You know what I do like about the Ford Mustang? Barely has any options.
Just configured one. It's like: what color? What interior color? You want racing stripes? Spoiler? Apple carplay? And that's about it 😄
i know it's still selling well, but i feel like Mustang was the wrong name to attach to it
They allow those mustangs over there?
technically yes, but also good fucking luck making turns in it over there
american muscle ain't made for euro roads
Yes 😄
You should buy one
Don't have the money for it 😦
I shall take a loan. Sounds like a good life decision.
calcium rocks
Anyone able to help on why my laptop fans decide to go balls to the wall whenever i turn my laptop on? I have an Asus zephyrus g14 2022
check task manager for startup apps or fan control in bios
but if you want to stop the full fan speed during post, gl with that
Im in the desktop and they are still going full speed
Im only at 50c
then set you fan speeds in BIOS
I see nothing in bios on fanspeed
then you'll need software. Although they went closed source now, FanControl was good when I used it
20€ banknotes must be bigger than I remember
Bro, you could fit more banknotes in a single cash register bill compartment than in a shoe box according to Google 🤣
for the whole "AI is awesome at math" everyone keeps touting about they all seem rather incompetent
if you do 7.4cm * 13.5cm * 0.01 cm (just making shit up)
By not giving a depth for the note, it’s assuming it’s a centimeter thick
I've seen ChatGPT mistakes but Gemini is like a toddler compared to ChatGPT
Yeah, this is stupid
I mean the google AI could've googled it
6,006/0.999 = 6,006.006. I took 0.01cm thickness.
Maybe give it a hint it forgot to calculate the depth of the note.
i might die from the moster tbh
I am actually trying to determine how many shoe boxes does it take to launder money in Croatia through buying real estate
Funny GPT has different sizes for a shoebox.
Since almost 50% of real estate is bought in cash which indicates there is some serious money laundering going on in here
Sure, let's convert the measurements to centimeters for the calculations:
A standard shoebox is approximately 30.48 cm long, 15.24 cm wide, and 15.24 cm tall. A 20 euro bill is about 14.5 cm long, 7.2 cm wide, and 0.0762 cm thick.Assuming you can stack the bills neatly without folding them, you could fit approximately 1,260 bills in a shoebox.
Ask Gemini 😂
Some american broke the record and managed to put 7400 dollar bills in a shoe box. Considering 20 euro note size is different, I guess you could at least fit 5000 in there.
So, a shoebox or two is enough to launder money through real estate depending on how much you are willing to spend
Huh weird, once I ask GPT to show me calculations it does weird stuff ...
It makes distinction between fit and fill 😄
how dare the euro be 1/8mm. i thought everything in europe was metric
I'm still kinda angry about the deepcool sanction.
But haven't heard anything about Canada yet.
ngl kinda fuckin dumb to try to evade US sanctions
Personally I like the competitivenes on their powersupplys.
But it's annoying on both deepcools and the states part
Isn't it a Chinese company?
based in china, with a US branch
it's a "if you want to sell to us, you won't be selling to them"
I read someone making the point: "Why does a Chinese company have to listen to the US?"
Ah, I don't think they have much of a choice.
they don't have to, but also that means the US doesn't have to let them in
For a Chinese company damn they make good shit
Eh, don't think they care. Rather not piss of China, the country they are actually based in, than US.
guess whose market is waaaaaaaaaay bigger & it's stupid to piss off if you like money
I don't know, China has a strong economy too.
china's claimed like an 8% growth rate for decades as if that's accurate
Well, I think deepcool can still deliver in EU 😄
they're probably double checking trade agreements & treaties
So I've pull got a few months before I need to buy the cooler and psu
Nah, don't want to get into politics. But it has other motivations.
oh i'm not touching the politics of it 🤣 just the paperwork side
US is on collision with China, economically for a while now. It's turning into an economic war.
i just hope thermalright doesn't get hit
What was the other thing again ... that app? TikTok?
Tiktok still has not been even messes with in canada
tiktok collecting user data
I mean everyone does now adays
Like Google, Facebook, X, ... 😄
So it's pick your poison
yea but this is "china" aka the party
