Have you seen the massive price hikes on Covid shots?
biotech
it still amazes me how we can wander around with high tech TOYS in our pocket which can do AR, photos, phones, and all manner of other things....... yet when i walk into a doctors office, they still use super clunky and achiac devices to check you out.
where are the hand-held scanners n shit already ?!
We have non-contact thermometers now!
But still use a records system straight out of the '50s
We all carry a device with us that records every audio it can find and every step we wake
im amazed my doctor accomplishes anything on the computer he uses where the software looks like its running windows 95
Hopefully for a long time
My chiropractor still uses vista
5g has insufficient range for a lot of situations
when they killed 3g here, net10 sent me a free new samsung smart phone that does 5g ... and my phone service is STILL $20/mo
From what I know it's similar but they each perform better in different scenarios. 4g has significantly higher frequency range, but is also allowed to use significantly higher transmission power
oh then rip
Pi hole etc triggers it as well afaik
I just loaded up ublock on firefox
played some videos in succession and no blocking
www.phoronix.com/review/amd-zen4c-laptops make it make sense
idk if pihole works on YT ads, iirc it shouldn't
nzxt.com/collection/h6 did they just copy hyte π€£ but in reverse?
I like the design
Also, at $110 it's a nice pick for anyone looking for a fishtank
And I also think the angling of the fans helps with airflow
nzxt was like can I copy. Hyte was like yea just don't make it too ovbious
hyte has the y70 now, pretty cool concept
Except hyte forces you into vertical mount with GPU fans close to the glass
D41 Mesh Screen for that
I hope there is a transaction in SAP which will allow me to download more than 250 invoices at once. Don't want to do it manually....
*and a script to rename pdf files (invoices) based on reference number
mmm paper
at least when you opened up a new piece of paper... it was on your desktop where you want it... and not 'cascading down' from some other piece of paper you have =p ... fuck i hate cascading windows
first world problem
"Updating Steam...

Verifying Installation..."
*... well which is it! you silly app! *:D
its a macoass12+ issue ...
Imagine if there was no internet and you had to share documents inside a corporation that has more than 200.000 employees around the world. It would be a complete nightmare lol
Oh right. I was born too late π
Didn't have to deal with that
Meanwhile, we have delays in fiber projects because of labor shortage
I am not a fiber technician but I would assume there is labor shortage because of low pay and increased workload
Sadly, I am not in a position to fix that issue
Fiber connection making is automated now.
Only need few higher skilled people to do the cabinets.
For large area.
I should do a field day to learn what fiber technicians are actually doing. Only thing I know is that they have a fusion splicer with them lol
My colleague told me a story about some employee who got drunk, crashed a company vehicle into a fiber distribution node (cabinet) and got fired lol
*and he had to cover all the damage he caused
And he is lucky he only got fired and not sued
None, copper ethernet has 100m max distance.
Here is an example of street fiber cabinet in my city and GPON inside a central office (during installation)
The fiber versions have max distance up to tens to hundreds kilometers for the long distance versions.
Whops, read that as 5km.
5e
Cat 3 might work, Cat 5 might work, Cat 5e will work for 5m.
Isn't 5e gig at 100m?
Problem is that 5e isn't official spec AFAIK.
But IMO there's no point in going with anything less than 5e or 6 as it's all crazy cheap
No, seems to be real.
I recently did a test on my cat6 cables between rooms https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/457105940844380160/1165229051749859419/image.png?ex=654f519e&is=653cdc9e&hm=887bd0d67ffb5b28d54a5ee1b66e701d586a2a7702beda7be6e435c7890be0e1&=
There are some unofficial versions of the cat6 spec
Ok, 1000BASE-T is only up to 62.5MHz, so CAT5 non-e fits too to that 100m distance.
At least I know I actually have CAT6 and not some fake cable
Manufacturers will literally label anything CAT6 these days
*even though it's legally questionable
And it's pure copper I believe, not CCA
So, you have cable instead of fiber?
Oh, I misread your previous message. Missed the part where you mentioned it's the parents who have cable, not you π
Well, at least older people don't care if they have high speed internet so you shouldn't be worried lol
that's fast
How does 50 millibits/s work with TCP?
We couldn't deploy fiber to a lot of older residential buildings in large cities because most apartment owners are old people who don't care about fiber
And you need to obtain at least 51% consent from all apartment owners
I hope we completely shut down copper infrastructure by 2030 or 2035
And if those older people in residential buildings refuse fiber, we will simply shut down their phone line and they will have to use cellphones....
voip has been available for a long time
The "phone" over cable is already VOIP etc.
is there a pc part picker like tool for server racks
There is still true analog phone lines in the us
Yes, ADSL, VDSL.
You can find VOIP ports on your modem, it's the port where you plug in your phone (usually it's a green port)
and DSL port is gray
My understanding is that at a provider level it still gets converted to digital for transmission though
Before VOIP, we used dsl splitter/filter
For DSL, it isn't VOIP.
Just analog telephone and xDSL running on same cable on different frequencies.
But it's quite common to have pots still avaliable
Correction: doesn't need to be green, could be any color
The "splitters" are just filters.
Don't remember if they filter the DSL out from the phone output.
Or phone from the DSL output.
Analog to phone operator stuff.
ISDN was fully digital.
It's likely filtering the phone from the dsl... it's possible for a phone to inject high enough frequencies to mess with dsl, but not really the other way around
64kbit/s per channel, with two channels.
If I remember correctly, the input was the phone line and the output was dsl (modem) and a phone
Yes, put between the wall and the phones and DSL modem.
But just didn't remember if the Phone output or the DSL output contained the filter
Hope dsl filters are extinct by now
And only 64kbit/s if you wanted to keep the phone working while you were on the internet.
Or some systems could switch on the fly if call was coming in.
Btw @twin dew I met the most famous finnish person Ahti the janitor again π
Yes, it's still alive
Not sure when 3G is going to be shut down though
Since even modern IoT devices use 3G instead of 4G
2G will probably be shutdown soon but I am not so sure about 3G
ISPs are keeping 2G in Finland but 3G is going down next year.
And keeping minimal support doesn't need much bandwidth either.
4G doesn't support voice calls at all.
It is VOIP over 4G on VOLTE
4G and 5G are data only.
Yes, but the phone needs to support VolTE, and that is pretty new thing.
From near end of 2017.
It has replaced 2G and 3G calls for phones that support it.
But not all LTE phones do so.
And lot of old stuff around with only 2G or 3G modems in them for IOT type things too.
Or even new stuff that still hasn't updated to LTE modem.
As in old designs that are still for sale new.
2g will probably work till the end of 2025 here
seeing how your online Baldur i would love to see your toughts on this (im not looking for help i dont care about the 1660 super anyway)
that happened from letting the card sit unpowered for like 3 months
That definitely wasn't the root cause
That is the one you killed by overclocking too much?
uh that was overclockless but yea its the one whit the factroy damaged board and then that i overclocked because it was allready broke anyway
has no vga or DP output from the factory damage and then lacks performance in general from the overclocking
that video is the DP output lol
i dident technically kill it from overclocking it destroyed itself from thermal expansion which i kind of expected but yea the overclocking dident help
Thermal expansion?
Based on what?
Never heard of anything electronic dying from that really, aside from the switchover from leaded to unleaded solder.
When there wasn't enough support for the early unleaded solders to handle the thermal cycling.
room temp may be like 20C+ but the floor temp defedently isent
well yea the card would just go from like 0C - 90C in like a minute
cuz the case inside was full metal so the case temp stayed at whatever the floor temp was
which basement flooring especially basement ceramic flooring is everything but warm
yea thats why i originally tought it was just insane wear from the overclocking
because the die wasent the failure point the board ended up being the failure point
Based on what?
the fact that half the board shorted itself to death and looks like charcoal
π
You can popcorn a pcb... but that involves moisture in the pcb, and reflow temps
my best guess is it simply shrunk enough from the cold to short itself on startup
You probably blew a mosfet.. those can either fail open or close
Yeah, that was VRM mosfet that failed into short.
Open is good.. closed sends 12v to your memory and gpu die...
What gpu is this
the scuffed 1660 super lol
at this rate your gonna need a new pc in 3 months
ehh not 3 months maby like a year
But usually that kind of VRM dying is from ESD.
realistically i give myself like 6 months before i break a game so hard again that it takes my gpu down whit it
Almost no-one in PC space uses straps...
And MagicZ IIRC lives pretty far north in Canada?
I use an antistatic mat
So low air moisture content, that makes ESD generation much more potent.
Compared to for example Florida etc.
in a few months i might airdust my pc
Use a vacuum
normal vacuums are pretty great at generating ESD.
I wonder
Could i try undervolting my gpu again to get the hotspot temps under control
well then how would it have died of ESD on its own because the case had nerver been openned up (and it wasent broken from the factory) until it broke itself where i then oppened it up for the first time like 3 months after and decided to check if it was even in one piece
You touched it when intsaling yes?
Prebuilt?
By who?
why would a R11 not be a prebuilt
I think esd damage is rare as long as you handle the boards by the edges. That's just me. I'll touch the case and anti static bag the part is sitting on. That's about it
realistically the very start of the root cause is probably a half as card shortening job
cuz the board is shortened
Or you overvolting and asking too much from the VRM of the OEM Dell card?
If it was one?
yea its a OEM shortened
Because that is the other possibility.
i mean idk
Because Dell cards often have cut down VRM to just be enough for the stock.
the highest clock i ever ran on it was whit +20% Core Voltage +250MHZ Core Clock and +200MHZ Memory Clock
but for like 60-70% of the runtime it ran clockless
or whit 150MHZ memory and 200 core whit none or 20 on the voltage
well it was banging the powerlimiter so i dont think it really mattered
it was hiting it on the base clock allready
so only really the core clock and memory clock where working
So again just doing stuff without thinking or checking then?
voltage yea
Also raising the voltage too much will nerf the actual performance.
Because you hit the power limit sooner.
ive found Undervolting actually helped get better overall pref
something i did learn is that its more stable on the power limiter than when it isent
1.1V yeilds 70Fps furmark Heavy test 1440p
but then again the power limiter on it is lower than the average power draw of a not OEM 1660 super
That reduced my Power consumption from like 260w to 232w with removing the added 15% and undervolting
the power limiter is only 110W
well only its high for a single fan card but not that high
i lost about 5fps
@twin dew Lost 3-5fps with a undervolt. BUT SIGNIFIGANTLY improved Temps and power use
went from 220w With cyberpunk bench to 184 and kept Hotsot Under 90c
its allready underperforming quite a bit so im curious to see how its gonna be in like 3-6 months especially if i do another megaproject or something like that
consitently allready 15% slower than the average on prettymuch all benchmarks
its still plenty fast but it is declining
allright im gonna get back to being somewhat productive
How. The fuck
@pure karma
Have you done that
My 6700XT is subject to heavy loads and shit
And overclocking
And hasent degraded one bit
Are you not keeping temps under control or someth
Like I've reduced my hotspot temps by 10c from a undervolt
Lost 4fps tho but no biggie
if like 60C isent in temp for a 4070Ti then theres a problem somewhere
What's the hotspot
idk
Im just confused on what happened
freight cars happened lol
Bc it's probably my 6700XT is taking more abuse but able to deal with it bc I have everything with proper checking and shit
Snd keeping therms under control
Like I run 230w peak without throttling on a 180w GPU
Fans actually maxed and it's undervolted and overclocked
all it took was 2400 difrent instances of braking particles at once to make the gpu crash count go from 0 to 1
well not just the gpu game froze then the entire system crashed
You probably just ran out of memory
was only at 22Gb out of 32GB
I'm still astonished my PC is more reliable so far
well i think the difrence is im trying to break games and your not
It's lesser preforming but like ever since the new kit of ram I've only had one bsod and that was bc of a outdated driver
What's the point in breaking games
idk fun
But sacrificing reliability. And longevity of your parts to do so
whenever i get bored of a game i break it before i move on
@jagged snow man I love having 300fps in certain titles at 98w GPU power
In certain areas I'm getting more GPU power
Higher fps from the OC + uv
@jagged snow I gained a 4% on 3d benchmarking with a OC plus UV
Vs just an oc
try just UV
I don't see why I'd need to as I'm keeping temps way under control now
Hotspot rarely even hits 80c
I'm curious if it's just the extra thermal headroom you got from the UV that made the card boost higher
so if it's the same 4% increase with just UV, the OC was practically meaningless
And you can't really overclock and uv at the same time. The idea of an undervolt is to push voltage as low as you can at a give clock speed, wheras an overclock is aming for the highest frequency regardless of voltage
I can understand the layman's approach:
UV = decrease powerdraw at a given clock
OC = increase clocks
So if you combine them, you get higher clocks at a lower power draw
until you can no longer provide sufficient voltage to keep up the clocks
I think that most people really aren't aware of the dynamic and complex nature of modern boost algorithms.
Yup
Just look at pbo, boost algorithm will take you quite far if you just move the limits and voltage curve
I may try Justa UV soon
i can Get 2770mhz OC with the UV and OC
i know it negates the effect of a undervolt
But it keeps thermals down
Not afaik
got that replacement sabrent ssd enclosure in .... guess what, missing caps.... this one doesnt even ATTEMPT to mount though .... just does jack shit when plugged in
im gonna try contacting sabrent support and see what they have to say for themselves
canadian internet best internet π
I still have my ipod shuffle from over 10 years ago and am still using it
i have 0 packet loss
i must be lucky
and 63ms of ping
ngl in places that actually have water in the ground, i'm surprised i don't hear more about internet or electricity dropping out
It's all in conduit
oh i know but conduit loves to fail in the most inconvenient spots
True
my sister's house had the sewer system partially back up, turns out the tree in the front yard had broken thru the pipe. not even at a joint, was just like "I KNOW THERE'S WATER IN THERE"
That's normally because the pipe leaks
if it's a single cable it's fine
it's not air copper
but if a joint is in water then yes it is problems
for long distances fibre is better though
how would you hear about it, they don't have internet to tell you lol
Starting to get it too π¦
for some reason when i yanked out all my adblockers/antitrackers, & then only reinstalled ublock, that worked
Idk I got a shit load of privacy extensions and still haven't got it
Firefox and uBlock is an unbeatable combination
oh yea i guess i should say that's on chrome
No problems so far with Chromium Edge and uBlock Origins.
which to me feels even more shocking that it works
Ublock updates their filters daily to combat youtube doing the same, if ublock ever stops working just go to settings>extensions and themes>ublock>options>filter lists, then purge all caches and finally update to get the new filters
Yup, cat & mouse games with YouTube.
That YouTube will always lose
except one side is corporate programmers who couldn't care less, and the other is millions of induviduals with limitless free time and pettyness
Few hours a day where it works probably, right after each change.
pretty much immediatly after youtube makes changes the minds at ublock have fixed it lol
They are just changing the name of the same script AFAIK.
Hidden in randomly named scripts where the rest are needed.
So just a whack-a-mole.
until someone in ublock finds something deep in youtube that's not immediately changeable by them π€£
someone needs to make a script to automatically update the filters through firefox itself imo
Also, YouTube will just kill their ad revenue by forcing people to watch ads
might have a weekend project lol
Every adblock user won't interact with the ad anyway - so the click through rate plummets
half of youtube ads are obvious scams, almost porn, or news site rage bait anyway
Also, there's adblock now which just opens a sandbox in the background, clicks every ad and closes the sandbox again
amazing
i honestly don't mind sponsored vids from the channel host itself, but man youtube ads can be outright malware
Making the ads also super useless
creators get most of their revenue though sponsors anyway due to youtube's shitty monetization
But might be that VDDGs aren't really tuneable with 7000X3D CPUs...
Even when the AGESA says they had been changed...
& as LTT made clear, buying 1 sweater from them is the equivalent of watching 40k ads
One guy made a video about the problematic ads on YouTube.
This video was striked for violating community guidelines - the problematic segment was an ad actively being shown on YT
SponsorSkip rules
oh i have left & right hotkeyed on my mmo mouse π€£ makes skipping forward & back really easy
Some sponsored segments are very well made, I actually enjoy watching those
Fuck ads
the double standard is crazy, youtube must not even show a captcha to people trying to buy ad spaces, tons of porn ads for mobile games submitted by the organization of "aa26jhu46"
Ads are fine if they're done without tracking, aren't invasive and mean the service can be provided for free
it'll remain the wild west until governments feel like ending that mentality
I think duckduckgo used that approach:
Advertisers put certain keywords on the links they want advertised and if someone searches for something related, it shows up
If you search for "buy car in LA", it'll show you links to LA car dealerships that paid DDG to promote them
Yeah... I'm not running 2200 FCLK with VDDG 0.700V...
Without any performance degradation from VDDG 0.850V.
AMD has disabled the control for VDDG on 7000X3D probably.
Because the V-cache runs on the VDDG-CCD0 voltage IIRC.
Anyways, current status:
Need to up the tREFI later.
And need to drop the tRRRD_S to 4.
6 gives higher max bandwidth, 4 gives lower latency.
But that higher bandwidth is probably just because IMC hit more optimal interleaving of commands.
Moar Testingβ’οΈ
I get it sometimes on uBlock + Firefox. Need to figure out why before I'm in phase 4 :P
So still need to test the following again:
TrrdL 8 -> 6
TrrdS 6 -> 4
TwtrS 6 -> 4
TrdrdSd 8 -> 6
TwrwrScl 4 -> 1
TwrwrSd 8 -> 6
Were 2 pass Memtest86 stable before.
Anyways, set all of those and now running Memtest86 again for today.
So i just encoutnered a really weird issue. I can use right click and left click on the right side of my desktop just fine, (i.e rmb causes the dropdown menu to appear and dragging the mouse around while holding lmb does that selection box thingy.) However, those inputs no longer work on the left side on the screen. Theres an invisible cutoff point down the middle
This behavior has only been observed on my main display, the secondary screen has working clicks regardless of location.
What even-
Some weird overlay layer in there catching the clicks.
What could this be?
It only happens sometimes tho, doesnt persist between reboots. It will happen one boot, and wont happen another boot
And you can probably do select box from right side to left side while that is happening?
Correct, it can be dragged across but can only be started om the right
Some program you have running making such overlay on the left side, blocking everything "behind" it.
I have one suspect
The driver for my drawing tablet, but the only thing i did with it was forcing the tablet input to be limited to a single display cuz it originally mapped to both displays at once. Could that be it?

I don't think you limiting an input device has something to do with your issue of a limited input device
Shouldn't affect the mouse, and being only half a screen is weird.
But cannot know.
Never heard of issue like this.
A drawing tablet is basically a glorified mouse
Yeah ik but thats the only overlay like thing i am using
Lot of software create overlays.
Usually to display data on top of anything else like with some hardware monitoring software.
But also Steam and Epic stores create ones, not just for when you actually "open" the overlay.
Meant to be non-interactable most of the time, but bugs can happen.
I see, i'll try reboot when im home
But see what you have running when the problem is there and try closing things to see if any of that helps?
As far as im aware its only steam, discord, spotify, the driver and the browser tho cant check rn
Noticed that I could pay Mindfactory 3β¬ to giftwrap the GPU.
Excited to open it
After having my pc on hibernate for a few hours and launching it back, the left side now works alright
Yeah, I was super surprised.
Actually looks like someone did that by hand
Amazon just throws your stuff in a gift bag
So if you use copyrighted music on YouTube shorts youβre still monetized because itβs not just a blatant rip?
idk if thatβs how it works or not
It's not long enough to be theft of intellectual property
So then why tf do normal length videos get the entire video demonetized for using the same length
Depends on what the specific copyright owner has set?
Because YouTube copyright system is fucked
Nobody should be able to take 100% of the revenue of my 60m video if it's only 30s of their content
But I have seen sections of shorts being blurred/muted for copyright reasons
not seen it yet myself, but there is some tinkering going on with Youtube and Adblockers currently
Hopefully my pixel works out

thatβs insane
Damn... Memtest86 was stable for 8 passes, reboot in Aida in the bandwidth test.
and it really wasn't a small thing
Yeah, in the RAM copy tests...
@upper plinth
heh, at least Sabrent support asked for a photo comparing both cases to show the differences (and missing capacitors)
Hey man, I know you are a Pole (from dms) and I'm also a Pole, but ya just joined the server and already pinged me and dmed about playing :P
I don't even know who you are, and I'm currently playing solo mostly :P But thanks for the offer :D Just.. probably the best to go onto #looking-for-group-old lol

(I have even worse background for tech people)
nom.
Anyways, I'm off to bed
how come every 'wireless' mouse ive tried... they all have this stupid delay to them after what seems like everytime i take my hand off the mouse to type ...
Very aggressive power saving
indeed
I'm not a fan of wireless peripherals
i need to find a new wired mouse for my mbp ... all my current mice are usb-a
The one exception is for my laptop, I do carry a wireless mouse w/ dongle for that
Get USB-C to USB-A dongle for few coins?
yeah, was pondering a wireless one .....
well, thing is, all my old wired mice i dont use ... are all end of life exhibiting issues, so i might as well just get a new mouse
USB-C is backwards compatible with -A with simple passive dongle.
forgot to bring my usb-a to c cable ... so im sitting here going 'grumble' cause i was gonna play a game, but now i have to do it with my trackpad instead... so now im just like, meh, maybe i go read a book
but it got me to thinking ... maybe i need a new mouse anyways, instead of the convertor cable and this old logitech which has issues (maybe?) where holding down the left button sometimes ... on occasion ... lifts up (lets go)
so then i was like... well, maybe wireless? but ... my track record with those have been 'delays' and 'unresponsive' ... so ... hrm
a mouse is an extension of the hand, and its really a pivotal part of a computer interface .... a bad mouse can ruin your day
WITH THAT SAID .... any recomendations on brand???? is logitech still ok? macalley? microsoft (lulz) ?
wtf is this 'Lenovo" that amazon keeps suggesting as best picks lol
heh, i actually have one of these (popular pick on amazon) .... and while the button pushes are very nice, and it feels good in the grip and is light .... the scroll wheel is HORRIFICLY noisy/clacky/rough .... https://www.amazon.com/usb-type-c-mouse/dp/B08G1YLFQM/
A must have workplace accessory. Tired of using your laptopβs trackpad? Need better mouse movement? Or simply looking for a better way to point and click? The Macally UCDYNAMOUSEB (TYPE C) Wired Mouse is for you! The Macally UCDYNAMOUSE is an easy to use USB Type C mouse that offers comfortable h...
And that tREFI 60k wasn't stable even in first few self tests of Memtest.
Now on 45k and will leave that running for the night, night.
I'm currently using a logitech mouse
I had an EVGA mouse before this, slightly less comfortable but functioned well
Keychron M3 Mini.
And wireless can actually have lower delay than wired
Cuz lightspeed >>> wire speed
An equivalent-quality wired mouse will match wireless
One mouse, two modes, wireless was faster
Some razer mouse, idk which one
That doesn't mean anything, they likely just have a poor wired implementation
Again, that means the mouse is poorly designed
It was consistent
Or you are just stubborn
The actual transmission of the data occurs at such a similar speed that the difference will be immeasurably small, and on the pc end they're detected exactly the same
hmmm
It's perfectly realistic that wireless tech is fast enough for the transmission delay to be more relevant
The difference was small, but still measurable. Wireless was slightly faster on average
On one mouse?
So again, design "flaw" in that one specific mouse
the parts about a mouse speed that bother me, is when i go to move the mouse, and it doesnt immediately respond ... that seems to happen a lot with wireless mice ive tried
Because for wireless mouse the signal path looks like this sensor > microcontroller > convert to wireless protocol & transmit > convert to usb > pc
And wired eliminates two of those steps
wired also doesnt normally have to 'wake up' if my hand hasnt been on it for a minute or two while i was typing π
i mean i guess a wireless mouse could do that too, but then i would be charging it daily like my phone
wow, logitech is really big on their wireless ... its hard to find one wired
one that isnt $90 ... lol
Why are you so convinced the mouse must've been faulty and not that proper wireless can be faster?
news on the Sabrent sata enclosure: they are going to send my photos and notes to their tech lab for a response
Because that's not how conventional physics work
It eliminates two of those steps - but wires are significantly slower than lightspeed
They're actually not
see: wireless must be faster because there is no electron friction in a wire to deal with ... flying through air is effortless and therefore much more fast
That's literally 9th grade physics, lol
Electical changes propogate at the speed of light lol
Basically this, but a bit more complicated
That video by Veritasium?
wait, wireless signals are lightspeed?
.... no
Yeah, all rf travels at the speed of light
That difference is >10% for the vast majority of cables
no, they travel at the speed of radio waves
It's literally light - just at a different wavelength which the human eye can't detect
Of which light is one
hm ...
I constructed the Veritasium electricity thought experiment in real life to test the result.
If you were watching my community posts a month ago, the day that Derek over on Veritasium posted his video about electricity misconceptions, you saw me obsess over that problem a bit too much and immediately use it as the excuse I've been looking for f...
but ... like ... even so, the different in response from wired to wireless cant be humanly noticeable ....... given polling rates are the same between
Polling rate isn't delay
its an imposed delay though
only at the times of polling does it measure the motion/change
If I ask you 1000 times per second, that is completely separate from how long you take to answer
I'm aware that the difference is there, but it's going to be lower than a single clock of the controller on the mouse, so not the most important factor
I can just be sure that it's at most 1ms between you responding and me hearing it
yeah heh ...
but with all the other things in the mix... cpu lag, gpu lag, display lag, lag between all those items ...
1ghz = 1ns per cycle
the only thing I as a human DO notice... is "i began moving the mouse, and the cursor didnt move for a half second cause the mouse wasnt even awake" ....
or in some wireless mice ... a full second ... and some need a 'jiggle' it seems
when it comes to reactions, you might not notice being quicker or more accurate, but it can still affect your performance
Btw, a lot of mice support higher polling rates over wireless
1000 polling rate, and 10,000 dpi seem plenty for this old geezer
some games dont support 10,000 dpi though, i have to bring it down per app ... (their sliders dont go lower than 1% sensativity)
like "The Forest" i have to bring it down to 2500 dpi, and the in-game setting is at 1% .. and its still a bit too fast π¦
(but thats just the game being stupid with its mouse controller)
10k DPI? You doing 3,600 no scopes?
no idea what that is ... so, probably not ?
I'm at 800-1,000
I think I'm at 800 rn
the higher the dpi, the smoother fine movements in FPS games are for me ... less 'jumps per pixel' ... hard to explain
360 no scope: spin your character 360 degrees and somewhat blindly hit your enemy
3,600 no scope: spin 10x
That's cuz your mouse teleported across the screen
but yeah, that drawing kinda explains it .... its 'jittery' moving the camera at a lower dpi, than a higher one
Let's see a precision test but you have to navigate your cursor through a maze
So high DPI low sens?
i dont know of any the science or essays about it ... its just what i kinda discovered on my own fiddling with settings
High DPI, low sensitivity is my way to go
yeah, high dpi, and then lower the sensativy really low... means you still turn 180 with the same travel on the mouse pad... but the 'smoothness' of it doing that is much ... smoother ?
what is all this? Who cares if you mouse makes shaky lines or less shaky lines on high DPI? You aim for the head*and kill people. Not draw lines.
Interesting, TIL
It's the difference between chest hit and headshot
Use a scope
Or headshot and miss
what game?
Some games have breathing mechanics while scoping. So even then DPI doesn't matter.
hehe ... when aiming through a sniper rifle and trying to hit a head 1km away ... those low DPI 'jerks' is either to the left of the head, or to the right of the head π
but, its not so much aiming hit that i like it... i just like how 'smoother' just slowly looking around with the camera is with high dpi low sense
I see. Talking counter strike (twitch shooters I guess it's called?) and not tactical shooters / milsims π
cause when im in the thick of it ... im whip shooting anyways, and its not about dpi at that point
My DPI is pretty low for ages, never noticed issues for FPS might look into it more.
right
Competitive shooters you mean?
Anywhere where split second precision is key basically
same ... i always had a low dpi cause i was like "how can people control the mouse when its high dpi, this is way too fast!!!!!" .... until i realized you had to turn down the senativity in windows/games if you raise the DPI ... then it all became clear to me. told my brother and he was like 'whoah... this is actually nice' ... kind of a 'oh really?' moment
nah, because that overwatch is also a competitive shooter
Will definitely try
and it's a different beast than CS
its not for every game .... i set my razer synapse per game that benefit ... like far cry's really benefit from it... but something like satisfactory or factorio doesnt
but kinda I guess. Anything not milsim I guess? I mean the moment you scope and you have breathing mechanics and you need to press shift to hold breath etc. DPI is the least of your worries π
R6 is a tactical shooter and falls in the category of "twitch shooters" (whatever that even means)
the last shooter i enjoyed.. sorta was destiny 2.. and I didn't really understand how the game worked lol
twitchy (fast)
i actually turned my DPI WAY UP for "Sniper Ghost Warrior" games, even though they had scopes and breathing mechanics ... the smoothness of camera control really helped
interesting
I change ingame DPI and all is good π - I still use a little trick someone thought me when I was about 12 π€£
ingame DPI ?
What trick?
its all personal preference though, what it all boils down too. do what feels good and looks right to you
360 degree.
I keep changing the mouse sensitivity untill I can do a 360 degree turn with little effort. So I can try to duel if I get attacked in the back (but if attacked from behind you are already in a disadvantage).
you can still achieve that with a high dpi, and low sensativity settings .... the only difference is that the camera movement ticks are smoother
I never bother with DPI
every game handles sensitivity of the mouse different by default.
its a hassle to be sure, especially if you dont have software to manage/change it on the fly per program
So why set the DPI if ever games does it different anyway. I have to change mouse sensitivity.
and I never noticed a difference between the two untill I read this discussions
its like .... uh ... its like seeing a game on a 144hz monitor for the first time after years of 60hz ....
if you dont notice or tried now, dont ruin yourself and try π
why do rally cars set different settings on different tracks? Because that is the difference between a nice and a great setup and will change the time you get on each different track
so for me it's worth the bit of time to find the right DPI/sens settings for each game
so I assume even the pro's aren't really arsed with it
clearly someone either trolling, or completely clueless to what dpi/sense do π
or someone who doesnt like 'enjoying' the game/world itself while playing a game lol
heh!
nah second video shroud: "dpi doesn't really matter, man"
June 2018.
Shroud explains obvious things. Again and again. And again.
i bet you anything he also has a video about 144hz doesnt matter and 60hz is fine
Just want to know what the pro's think about it tbh π
ie: someone to ignore, completely, because they dont have a clue
since they spend days perfecting their craft
they also turn down every graphical setting, and turn off shadows, and disable all manner of things to get speed over visuals
haha shroud says the same as me π€£
I can totally see them not doing that.
They pick something they think feels good and then just train with that
for me: i like to visually ENJOY a game ... as much as play it
Constant changes need constant retraining
euh what Fireworker? Pretty sure they find the sweet spot in every game and then start practicing.
Which is also why a lot of RL pros and coaches tell you to not constantly change camera settings
but if i was in a esports, competition ...... i would be trying to find whats the fastest way to kill another player, and not give 2 shits about anything π€·
I think they find a local maximum, but I doubt they bother with checking for other local maxima or even a global maximum
and calibrating the mouse can take days.
and also, who the hell doesn't do this incremental in small changes?
I don't go from 1.0 -> 2.0 for mouse sensitivity. I play a day with 1.1 and then 1.2 untill I find a sweet spot.
this is why i tweak each game to 'feel' the same as each other game. which requires adjusting the dpi/sense that works ... so they all feel the same to me
Small changes and your muscle memory should be able to adjust quickly.
it was like when i launched up The Forest, and its mouse control was JACKED, and i had to adjust the dpi down because the game itself couldnt support it with its in-game sensativity settings
also why i change keybindings so that 'crouch' is on 'C' instead of 'ctrl' LOL
couch? π
crouch to the couch, correct π―
and 'R' is for 'R'eload damit ... not F or G
Wanted to know what game you are playing to bind the couch to C haha π
Maybe the Sims haha π€£
That'll bring you to a local maximum, not a global maximum
crouch ...
my base setup is to be able to do a 360 without moving my arm
I always move crouch to ctrl
my pinky doesnt work with ctrl enough to have it as crouch ...
same here, more or less π
I ain't that fckn flexible
x = prone, c = crouch, ctrl + mouse wheel to adjust my character height in Tarkov. (you can set your character between standing and crouching with fine control)
for me its a 180 without reaching the end of the mouse pad ...
if i have to lift to 180 .. then i got it set wrong
I work in IT, Ctrl-commands and Shift for typing are super natural already
Tho I do put spring on shift and crouch on Ctrl for Minecraft
Have you played Arma III? π
I work on a mac, so its all Shift and Command π
So many keybinds that you have little options to play around with.
every key combination does something in that game. I never got into it. Too high learning curve.
I work on a Linux notebook.
(That just acts as a thin client for Citrix and ultimately ends in a windows VM)
thats ONE benefit to crappy "console ports" ... they dont have enough keys to work with, so the game is dumbed down already, so rebinding a keybinds on PC port is easy π
True, but also sometimes console games limit the potentional of a PC. But I agree with you. It just works in both directions imo.
FTB wants to have a word with you
dumbed down or made unnecessary complicated
true there... some actions can be the same key, you just hold for longer to do it ...
Anyways, time to mount GPU and SSD
tap R to reload ... HOLD R to change ammo type ...
have fun fireworker
have fun π
Yeah, that sounds like a console port to PC
playing a lot of RDR2 and I notice that it's a console game first and PC game second.
"hold e to interact" ... guh, seriously? when tapping e has no action to it? just let me TAP E to interact !!! ... thats the thing that is annoying. Haha, its like in No Mans Sky where you have to CLICK AND HOLD left mouse button on basically everything in the game, wtf
RoDeoRider2π
some stuff is just a bit weird/janky on the PC, and I have a full keyboard and only a few buttons are used since well... it's made for a controller
yeah, rdr2 is also a rockstar game, and their UX has always been shit across everything they have made
Oi! No dissing RDR2. This game is a masterpiece π
never played it myself, but it does look awesome
you just 'get used to it' ...
same, buddy of mine was playing starfield. I watched and was thinking... this is just fallout/elder scroll but in space. Same engine. Same controls. Same facial expressions. Everything is the same. Except. Spaaaaaace
but for sure, i have to invest my time into a rockstar game and not play ANY other game at the same time because of how screwy the controls are in rockstar games. it messes with the muscle memory
still the same engine? that would explain it
Yeah, they keep using the same engine π
I think it's the engine from fallout 2 or something haha.
They are trying to get modern era out of an old engine and it shows...
starfield is a space based rpg ... its good, but its not like the end-all-be-all space genre killer game of a lifetime ... just go into it as 'space rpg, it will be fun, just dont focus on the silly things'
I was interested in it, but after seeing my buddy play it. Fuck that. It looks boring. Faces are zombies / ugly. Character don't even look at you when they speak.
the gamebryo engin is ancient, but always get a ton of makeup to be pretty enough for the next deal
but if you wanna go into a game where you spend all your time shooting lights out, and bashing computer screens, and breaking windows .... no, starfield is not for you, go play gta4/5
You don't get any vehicles when you land on a planet.
so you have to walk slowly over the planet. and then walk all the way back to your ship.
π€· its an rpg
maybe I'll give it a try when all the dlc are out and it's on sale for 10-20 bucks
Well, have fun with it frigid, I am not going to waste my time π
i basically walked everywhere in Hogwarts, cause it was fun to do ... only used the broom when needed, and generally avoided fast travel .... cause like ... it was an rpg adventure
yeah, if they patch up some of the issues it has right now I will play it too.
But Tod already said they don't want to add vehicles to the planet.
Because ... the engine can't handle it π€£
not all games are for everyone π
sometimes i like to just waste 200 hours in an RPG ....
True, but there is talk on the internet Frigid. Something something overhyping a game... something something not delivering (again).
and I just agree. They overhyped it again.
i dont care what people think about a game, i care what i think about the game and if i personally can find enjoyment in it π
(plus it was free, so, no complaints)
I listen to other people, just to get a feel.
Only live so long. Can't waste all my time testing out stupid shit.
Like if a movie is 0/100 (10000 critics reviewed it), would you watch it?
yeah, i try to avoid hype or 'buzz' about a game ... its more fun to go into something completely unawares with zero expectations or notions
but I also understand you, sometimes you have to give something a try and maybe you will really enjoy it.
the only time i read reviews, is for physical stuff im buying like hardware, or appliances
Oh, I look up reviews for almost everything. Especially movies.
movies, books, games .... to me seem so subjective, its hard to know what "I" might actually like. I mean... people raved about ELDEN RING, and i tried it, and i absolulty think the game is 100% shit
Too many crap movies/games. So reviews help me weed out the bad ones π
hehe weed
my last 'just give it a try, well that was rather unexpected but nice' was into the coreπ
Yeah, it's not that a average review score is a garantuee you will like it.
But it does increase the chance you will like it.
Again, if a movie is 90/100 with a lot of reviews. Then the chance is just higher it's a good movie.
while i do glance at the '5 star rating' on amazon prime video .... and if something is 2 stars overall ... i might pass ...
depends on what it is though ... if its made by Gravitas ... yeah, definitely pass
but then i cant go by 5 star overall either, cause it could be some pile of shit feel-good-current-issues BS that actually has no escapism at all in it, and i will give it a 1 star when im done watching it having wasted 2 hours of my life
but again, liking something is subjective so not a science. But my philosophy is, I try to avoid wasting a lot on time on bad stuff π
yup
im finding a lot of things I absolutely dislike... are what a lot of people "like" (because they feel forced to like it or they are shunned publically) ...
some things are very special and will not be for the most of the casuals, but will be worth soo much for a small niche of players.
Hard to find, but totally worth it if it matches the personal taste
True.
yeah ... and some have a cult following, like elden ring
A lot of movies that are shown on those festivals, like Cannes, I don't like them always π And they do win prizes π
its a niche player, but everyone in tht niche felt like they had to give their thumbs up and make it an 'overwhelmingly positive' reviewed game π
I am in that cult π
hehe
nothign wrong with that...
i gave it a go, but i just didnt like it at all, from performance, to functionality ......... i'll go spend 200 hours in rdr2 instead LOL
It's natural, FromSoftware earned the cult with all their previous games. So the hype for Elden Ring is big. I haven't played it. But I am looking forward to it. After RDR2 it's probably elden ring.
who knows if i will ever play Starfield .... maybe in 1-2 years after they 'fix' and 'add' to it
And then you have that writer... from Game Of Thrones. He worked on Elden Ring too. So even more hype.
but 'right now' the game runs too sluggish/crappy
That's why I beefed up my PC π
doesnt matter! even 4090 players gripe
Oh noes π¦
I am so happy with RDR2, upscaled, all ultra graphics (+ ray tracing) and 60-100 FPS π. 1080p though.
then you have blind fanbois all "but 20fps in the big city is fine, you dont need 60fps"
Transistor was a nice game for me because the story and art was great
but wth, doesn't it run at 60 FPS on PS5?
yeah, rdr2 ran quite well for me when i played the intro sequence.....
I though all games had to run at 60 FPS on PS5
yeah, thats a console though.... port to pc is shit
so they butchered the optimization π
same was with Hogwarts... was fluid and fine on xbox, but the pc port was a stuttery fuckfest
jeez, that's another title I wanted to play.
easier to optimize for fixed hardware
Maybe by the time I play them they are patched. #copium
Yeah, and I guess they don't want to waste too much time/money on the port.
with Hogwarts, i just avoided the town during the day, and the castle during the day .... the problem is the NPC code is bad, and the more NPCs 'awake' and around, the worse the stutters get
company doing the console2PC port
LOL!
When was that frigid?
but i 100% hogwarts.... it is a very fun game, with voice acting and cutscenes you actually want to sit through and not skip
when did you play it?
maxed settings except ray trace (i personally saw no different with RT on, so i turned it off) ... it runs smooth/good when there arnt many NPCs around
its the NPC code which has nothing to do with the graphics
can you kill NPCs? π
only enemy NPCs
i was 120-144fps most the time, but the 'hiccups' (or stutters) were in areas with npcs, and didnt affect the framerate, but more of just ... hitching ... annoying glitch, most like npc pathing issues with the cpu or something i dunno
Hogwarts Legacy offers players the option to reduce population density. And doing so will assist in reducing the stutters that players face.
Now I am curious. I am going to wait for steam sale though. Not want to waste too much money on this game after hearing this.
but Hogsmede is filled with npcs regardless ... and that town is a hitchfest during the day
I will keep you posted. Wintersales probably.
π
afterawhile i got used to it ... turned a blind eye ... went about my way
total time i spent though to get 100% achieves/completion is 110hours
I know that feeling (my old PC). But I was hoping to have a smooth experience with this new build.
my main character was Ravenclaw... then i had to make three other characters for each house to get the last 3achievements
I might try to 100% rdr2 but the online ones pff
my main π
that hair looks beautifull
was a fun game
it's so sharp you can cut steel with it π€£
im messing in the forest right now, but then i will head into rdr2 .... i expect rdr2 to take a year to finish =p
maybe you will not like it
i liked the intro
it's a different beast of a game, nothing like the intro.
i'll still enjoy it
wait, that's not true.
The intro is only a part of the whole experience, let me phrase it like that. Don't want to spoil.
im a sucker for 'pointless things to do in an open worldish game'
Oh, you will love it then I think π
i mean, i enjoyed gta4 and 5 despite the playable characters were all trash
Well, this game is more rooted in nature. And GTA is more a city game.
but other than that, mostly the same yes.
heck, even if it doesnt have fast travel, i would prolly have fun in it =p
but if im dying every two minutes from just some random npc, and having to start the game all over each time ... naw, i wont enjoy it
but western
Did you finish 100% hogwarts with a guide?
guide????
like a steam guide, achievement guide.
uhh .... π€
because RDR2 100% blind looks very daunting to me π
i think i looked up one achievement .... uhhh maybe, maybe not, i cant recall which one though
no, maybe not ... i think i looked up "cant get into girls side of the dorm" ... cause there were treasure chests showing up over there i couldnt reach because i was a boy character
if you want to run it blind, prepare to spend a lot of hours
but if you play a girl character, you can reach all chests even on the boys side because they are allowed
yeah, i usually run all games blind
unless i hit a point where its like 'is this broken?'
like in The Forest i had to look up why I cant seem to move a piece of furniature ..... turns out you just CANT
sorry, i know all of this is NOT tech-talk
I sometimes look ahead in quest choices on a wiki to not run into unwanted arches / use the optimal path.
"consquences be damned" π
that's why I abuse saves π€£
the consequence is that I spoilerd myself
lol
some games in the past i was so hell bent on choosing the 'right path' that i would look up the questlines n stuff so i didnt 'make a mistake'. ..... but nowadays, im like ... well, screwit, im doing this, and if it bites me in the ass, i'll just deal later
i have to try and put my moral compass on the backseat
"just enjoy the game... fly by the seat of your pants!"
really curious what sabrent is gonna say about the missing capacitors and apparent unstability of their new version sata enclosures
hoping its like 'a bad batch' that went out ... cause the two i got were only 16 digits different in serial number
and you get shit accuracy
if you can't trust the game calculation, just set the game to 1:1 and tweak your mouse "dpi"
but no software can make up for the dpi
especially for small movements, and especially if it's real dpi (not fake f/real_dpi)
I know way too many people who would be very happy with that 'crappy' connection
Literally my internet beffore last contract change. Just had a tiny bit higher upload back then. Lived with that for like 5 years
here on vacation, crappy Telekom
Still not as bad as network on my vacations lol
Just for context,I can't load discord on the holidays
and even at home 200/20 is what I get, 400/40 would cost 15β¬ more, but could be worth it. 1000/50 would cost way too much for the gain
I would say 200/20 isn't that bad for general use
ouch
im just surprised by the '10' upload with a 230 download
major lopsided
my original dsl when i moved to where im at:
9/20/2012
Download Speed: 8453 kbps (1056.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 844 kbps (105.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 33 ms
it then ended up as:
7/7/2022
PING 20 ms
DL 27.7 Mbps
UL 2.8 Mbps
before i moved to fiber ...
so yeah .... i guess 230/11 isnt really all that bad considering
i guess my perspective got blurred when i went to:
7/30/2023
PING 1 ms
DL 651.1
UL 326.4
I mean... I have 750 download with 40 upload
wow
I'm going to fight soon with the IPS to get higher upload, hopefully I will get somewhere
trade some dl for ul ?
Probably. But we will see
i know with 300ul, i can actually process files and videos at my own home office now with ease... not having to VNC to a remote machine (that sits on a fat pipe) to do them
it was excruciating uploading a 100mb video on a 3mb line π
"TIME FOR LUNCH!"
Enjoy!
(im not really eating lunch right now, it was a turn of phrase for what happens when you have to start something and wait a long time for it)
I love that chrome tells my my default gateway is unsafe. makes me feel so safe
Wish mine was like this
well i generally have 0 but only when connected to stuff in north america
this is my wifi at home download sucks cuz half of it is unusable (this is Canadian fiber optic btw its complete trash)
well my download speed is supposed to be way faster than what i actually get, the best i ever got was 30mb/s on steam
comunity internet?
im asuming just public wifi networks
yea i dont have data tho...
Fun fact, my local speedtest server won't even do a full 100 megs
one thing i did find out is i download a lot more stuff then i tought i did lol
I have 400 gig of use in the past 30 days. But it wasn't that heavy month for me
500 gigs is often in my case
123 GB of usage here
Majortiy for me is steam, 79 gigs out of 123
i need barebone keyboard makers to add hotkeys
ahk isn't working for you?
oh no itβs nice
i mean a little finicky
sometimes doesnβt launch when my computer restarts
but definitely nicer than not having it
Oh weird
dedicated hotkeys would still be great tho
I haven't had a script fail to start in the five years I've been using it, wonder if it's an issue with v2
Some keyboards do
this is good yes?
Reviews say yes
If it were me I'd spring for another 10 dollars and buy an evga 500br
Currently have it running some 12v systems on my workbench
I need the side fan
Ah
also my internet usage lol
I think that's the last 24 hours.
or the last 7 days. I'm not sure xd
I'm looking at getting this chassis.. and while it has the top vent for a normal psu, where it's going it'll be blocked by another server
You could just do sfx with a mounting plate
If you don't want to trust off-brand psu
I like usba
400W should be more than enough. no gpu.. The system is an i7 4th gen that'll be used as a proxmox server for my cameras, and whatever else
it's just I'll be very upset if it dies and takes out my server.
In that case it should be plenty
til you break one and realise damn.. I wish I had usb a.. I could change that with a dollar store soldering iron
Instead of needing a hot air station
Power requirements are not a concern.. only catastrophic death of the unit. the SFX adapter plate is a good idea though.. that's probably what I'll do
I'm starting to become less enamored with it, the port on my phone is starting to go bad
I've got way too much shit to trust a $20 to.
So I don't mind seeing usb-a stay on my desktop
and a lot of experience soldering too. hot air station alone is not enough
True
There's 12 conductors in that standard
Is that why you were worried about the induction stove?
That's what I said when I bought my new gpu
Titanium is not ferrous
normally referbished is better then Simply used
Nope
It's like aluminum in that sense
There are titanium alloys which contain iron, but that's the exception
I should have bought a 2 tb SSD
2tbh is nice to have
gang shit
more
all SSD tho
yeah for only 160β¬
I just looked them up... they're what a paid for a 1tb samsung 980 nvme a couple years ago lol
PCIE 4.0 too. Isn't the fastest or something but is 100% okay for game storage
Finally found the cause of why Youtube anti-adblock was still catching me on uBlock + Firefox combo
god damn other extension for yt was actually yeeting ads without my knowledge, and that was the thing being catched by youtube. Disabled that option and it works
it's headless.
that doesnβt look like a barebones
neither does that
You could strip it
Keychron has some
@wintry harness what was your question?
Durgod Taurus, Monsgeek M1
i didnβt see if they were hotswap
Are there any good recent mp3 players out there?
If it counts, the LG V60.
Is that a phone?
I dont want a phone. I want a device specifically for playing mp3 files, music.
gonna be weirdly specific, but do you know of any wireless 65% metal casing barebones keyboards, if they have hotkeys it'd be amazing but not a must
I don't
65% with hotkeys is unlikely
there is in fact no such thing as too much storage
Yes, wired signal will be tiny bit slower than wireless signal over same distance, if you discount the transmitter and receiver processing latencies etc.
But the difference over less than 5m distance the mouse will have is so insignificant that it isn't relevant.
And if the wired mode is noticeable slower, then it is implementation fault.
Well, it doesn't matter when it is high enough.
Not going to watch the video to see what was the minimum value and what was the resolution used.
My mouse DPI is set to be fine at 1:1 on Windows desktop.
Because the Windows mouse "sensitivity" slider is just stupid on how it is implemented.
If you go one step down from the default 1:1 (1 pixel of movement per 1 tick of mouse movement), you will have your cursor movement start ignoring some of the ticks, and moving single pixel on others (ratio depends on the setting).
And if you go up, you will first IIRC start to move 1 pixel on every other tick and 2 pixels on the others.
And then to 2 pixels every tick, and so on.
So everything but the default 1:1 is just unusable.
Well, expectation is that anyone buying that thing will not have that many servers.
So you can have two next to each other by putting ones PSU upside down and one right side up.
But most rack cases use flow through design for reason.
Whops, read wrong, not bottom but side cooling as the other option for PSU.
But there is reason why rack cases usually don't use standard ATX etc. PSUs
And on that need to remember that USB also has transmitter and receiver in the mix,
Just wired ones.
One possibility is that the wired connection was running at USB default 125hz polling rate, and the wireless was 500+hz.
Interesting
took a photo on my 15 pro max at night in raw
opened it in light room and cranked the exposure
that looks like a mattress that you just pulled out of a swamp
if you were moving you'd be able to see which way the shutter moves
it's very likely
especially on windows which does not go up in polling wired for some (probably stupid) reasons
but you can boost Bluetooth connect very fine
Nah, if the USB dongle could go to higher polling, it was just implementation problem.
My wired mouse can do 125Hz, 500Hz or 1000Hz by just selecting on a button under the mouse.
?
it is on windows side
and it's Windows to deliver
Yes, and it delivers fine.
not in windows 11 on wired apparently
Ok, no idea about Win 11, works fine on Win 10.
yes
Windows on GUI computers (so my desktops and laptop), Text only Linux on the server and firewall.
except for graphic driver
Seems to have been fixed in KB5028185 in May
Some mouse polling testers don't work properly in Win11.
forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?t=12157
but they really said "combined result"
do they mean stacked in one packet
or are they stupid enough to shut down the resolution
this is effectively making it 8ms latency
what I experience is 3.2ms on any device running windows 11
the only way it can report it with packets without lowering the effect too much is embedding mouse event timestamps and putting them as a list
anything else with greatly shut down the actual resolution
and for games 125 is very much too low
so I expect they were talking about "background events"
but they also decreased it for foreground events as it's only 3.2ms now instead of 1ms
the only polling rate that is fine is 1000 and maybe 500
250 and 125 is only ok for not mouse focused applications
like editors and web browsers
Something VERY weird happened!
The UEFI booted in safe mode because failed memory training!
First ever on any AM4 or AM5 system I have seen.
The only really notable differences i noticed were on win11 were basically just visuals and I.. really like the middle oriented tool bar
I would like to get the backend changes without the UI changes.
When those are almost completely separate.
But with the 23H2 re-adds I can actually switch if I want to.
Features in Win10 that got removed in Win11 until now.
I wll be honest, im not a computer smart person so i dont know what changed beside the UI
Mostly UI things they removed
You cant open task manager by right clicking on taskbar anymore iirc
Taskbar cannot be moved
i open task manager from taskbar
yeah it is still possible
ctrl + alt + delete or win key "task"
my taskbar looks a lot like it did in win10 too ... things are on the left, icons on the right ... although i DO have it on the bottom because thats where windows taskbar has been for me forever
didn't know right click taskbar did it too on W11
same, windows menu was always left, since I used 95 can't change that.

but yeah, im always right-clicking the taskbar to bring up task manager so i can adjust affinity for those games that cant understand my e-cores lol
I just found out about right clicking the toolbar to bring up task manager, i always been bringing up the start menu to open it, thanks guys
wait until you find out about rightclicking the windows icon
now, something i found i DONT like about win11 ..... is general right-clicking files, a lot of the more useful stuff is under a secondary 'more shit' selection, which seems pointless to me why they did that
yeah
That I agree with, I tried to react with βοΈ but i cant do that
microsoft likes to do stuff like that
same with the settings vs control panel
even in W11 you still have two places to configure it.
i can never find where to ajust sound settings right ... how many different panels or windows are there π
hell, you can probably configure windows in 100 seperate places.
Right click a file > show more options > rename
why?
Why not just right click>rename
or properties under those, or extra settings, or mixer, or
doubt even Microsoft knows em all.
problem is if they got rid of any one location to consolidate them all to a nice organized singular location ..... ALL the people who recalled how to configure something in any of those many other locations, will bitch
that's a stupid argument to keep legacy features forever.
yup !
microsoft does it too with powershell, they keep older versions (with security risks) installed because of backwards compatibility of scripts.
Microsoft: "Eh, it all works... leave it in. We dont want to remove functionality or remove backwards compatibility and be like Apple"
In my opinion, they should do that for a year or two and then pull the plug. Python 2 made the same mistake. It took YEARS untill they pulled the plug out of python 2 and force people to switch to 3.
if they keep doing this illogical stuff, we would still have features from the 90's for "backwards compatibility".
and all these security patches MS pushes out each day gives a false sense of security since they have all those old features enable making the attack vector for windows massive.
yeah... but ... things still work even in win11 that were released back in win95 days π
try saying that for the 80% of apps that have all died on macos because apple was like 'meh, backwards compatibility'
Yeah, and it's leaky AF. Like I said few days ago. The printer service can give hackers root access to a PC. That's how leak this ship is.
You cannot have good security + backwards compatibility. Because old code is just insecure. Technology changes.
printer service is allowed by firewall, it's a microsoft/windows service. Default.
