Also check for windows updates
still going @twin dew
I did not understand that sentence
Yeah clonezilla should be able to do that
Oh really? That's weird
You can use the system restore feature to backup to usb
Yeah I'd use clonezilla for that
you doing alright maxeek?
You sure?
That's funny... I think that all things considered it's good that we ended up with it
standards that don't match.. and if or when the port breaks, throw your device away. This is the first and last one I do for under $100usd
Micro. When they broke they were easy to find. and you didn't need a reflow station to replace them.
They say it's supposed to be better or more durable.. but why do the fingers in the connector peel back like a shitty hdmi port?
if having lots of charging cables was an issue for phones, they should've required wireless charging lol
ohfinwell. it keeps devices out of the trash
stable @jagged snow
Cool

Might be the OC, might be just that the tightening of the mounting was made in uneven fashion and the cooler is little crooked when contacting the die.
So probably nothing to do with the RAM and the general all-core and all E-core stability seems to be fine right now.
The screw thread stopped so I assume the mount is even (if I want to trust alphacool with their tolerances)
And under normal gaming load the Hotspot doesn't get that hot. This was during timespy
Did you screw each one down individually to completely down, or one turn per screw alternating?
... Alternating
It's probably that. But I will check later today if I might have not tightened a screw properly and also give it a little wiggle
It's too early for your riddles Maxeek
I'd get banned
Getting finally to the meat of things again.
And after the primaries are tightened I need to see if loosening the TrrdS will bring gains, as tightening it caused loss.
Intel Memory Latency Checker results not shown.
I should just configure Windows to always boot to Safe Mode right now to get more consistent numbers...
But cannot be bothered anymore, because I would need to redo all the previous numbers.
The first and last Aida bandwidths are hitting the Infinity Fabric speed limit for single CCD.
Need to do that Safe Mode testing once I have the good settings confirmed and going back to see if loosening something helps.
Started with horrible 42-42-42-60-100 main latencies.
Last time got to down to 30-38-38-50-88, but didn't fully complete the testing.
Raphael IMC can read and write 32B/FCLK cycle to IF, but each CCD can only do 32B read and 16B write per cycle.
So single CCD Raphael is RAM write speed limited by the CCD to IMC IF link.
yea id say so
function purist +form purist/neutral all the way
form neutral if on a budget, form purist if you have no budget
I'm form neutral
Xerox printers literally use ftp so I can count them as a server
And they have internal file storage capability
But CL 30 reached...
CL32 got full memtest pass while I ate.
If this passes quick Windows side tests then time to move to other primaries.
Yep
Ok, CL 28 trained in normal time, time to run pass of Memtest86 on it.
Yeah, got single error already, so no-go it seems.
Still no-go I mean.
its been like forever since ive encountered a virus on PC ... so, is 'just downloading a zip' that is infected enough to infect the pc, or does it need to be 'run'
Usually no.
like can i download a zip, and then run checkers on it... without being at risk "just because i downloaded it" ... i know seems prolly a stupid question
but its literally been decades since ive encountered one lol
Unless there is some very weird new 0-day they can use.
Yeah, that's safe in 98% of cases
i wonder if MalwareBytes on a mac, can detect pc virus's in/on zips
Windows defender beats every free service and many paid ones in terms of detection rates & successfull quarantines
they are the kind who WOULD have a virus on their pcs lol
I never got hacked but installed a virus twice - my brother fell for phishing once and installed malware once.
Haven't heard anything from my parents or my sister
my parents are the kind of parents to tell me to be safe on the internet then get a virus 10 seconds later
Amd pulled the anti-lag+ driver
30-36-42-60-90 in Memtest86 right now...
Couldn't get the tRCD 36 stable previously IIRC...
But that was with VSOC 1.05V.
Perfect example of it wasn’t my job
You mean a static one?
I wouldn't be able to move the rock to save my life though 😛
get some mechanical advantage
It’s a rock that they put a pipe really close to
I doubt it
tRCD 34 was step too far, as expected.
Expected that for even the 36.
I would mind more about pushing my GPU in testing today's update, but it's been a cold weekend and having a 500w heater at my feet has been quite nice.
So I had this amd 23.10.1 driver on USB stick from official amd website for RC 6950 XT. Today when clean installing, the driver suddenly didn’t work. (Also note PC is not connected to internet). It wouldnt install. Went back to amd website and see that 22.9 is only available. I was very confused. After an hour I find this: gameishard.gg/news/valve-warns-counter-strike-2-players-of-amd-graphics-driver-issue/350907/
So AMD reverted the driver. But the confusing part is, why didn’t the driver execute? I had 23.10 and no internet. How did my pc/windows know to not execute it without internet connection. A mystery.
Probably something unrelated.
Doubt it.
It worked fine 3 days ago. (The file on USB stick)
Now it executed but got stuck at 100% and then did nothing.
22.9 on stick without internet worked like a charm.
I mean… could be… has to be?
Still weird.
Also when my PC booted up. I got this. So WU dowloads what feels like bloatware.
It dowloaded some steelseries shit without my permission. Wtf Microsoft?
Yes, autoinstalled the "drivers" for your hardware.
"driver", not driver.
It was in the "critical driver updates" category inside WU, even when it is bloatware.
But the second is bloatware diguised as driver and shipped with WU
This should be illegal.
If it was just in "Driver updates", it wouldn't have autoinstalled AFAIK.
Yes. But. It shouldn’t be. This is very sketchy.
Image every company using drivers to ship bloatware to your OS. Have fun.
Yes, the system is fucked in what is allowed to be included in that.
Every morning will be russian roulette. You dont know what your Os will boot up with.
Oh here we see you put in a USB stick from samsung. Here some “samsung drivers”

But this pissed me off so badly. That I went windows pro.
And have group policy working.
And now I can disable most drivers.
Also tell windows to not just download updates. And not to restart either. And a bunch of other cram.
Power to the user ✊
Maxeek, I spent days/weeks writing scripts. Editing registry. Micosoft put a lot of effort to make sure home users have 0 control over updates. Pay up for Pro they say.
Don’t treat me like a kid MS.
You can still partially set it to that with Group Policy.
That it won't autoinstall.
But with Win10 and Win11, pressing "Check Updates" manually also means "Install anything found straight away" which is very annoying.
You wouldn’t believe how frustrated I al at the moment.
Yeah I noticed. I hate it too.
I put my mother on Linux Mint. It's worked out great so far. :3
In macOS we can pick our updates to dowload and install. More control.
Not sure why windows had this all or nothing approach.
My mother's laptop is running Linux Mint with auto-updates enabled, and btrfs root with snapshots. So if an update does break something, 5 minutes and I'll have it all good again.
Win7 didn't have it, addition for Win10 where MS wants everyone to be on autoupdates and broke the group policy setting partially.
It's more that most people don't want to understand how computers work. Apple, Google and MS are happy to oblige and hide as much of the workings as possible, even when it provides a worse experience to anyone who does want to understand.
They have this: auto download and NOTIFY for install. NOTIFY for download and auto install. But what they dont have is. NOTIFY for download and NOTiFY for install.
Now I am also disabling auto restart after update b
It makes sense. People use smartphones without any tech knowledge. And funny enough people brought up on phones now can't do basic PC tasks..
Like I said, those Group Policy settings are from older OS versions and don't completely work in Win10 and Win11 anymore.
They used to work much better.
They work for me?
Its just lacking options.
But MS has taken stance that to control the WU updates, you need to deploy local update server.
The "Check Updates" didn't mean "install them too before" etc.
They partially work, but not like they used to.
And then they'll sell businesses a cloud server for this.
They always did, but before Win10 the Group Policy etc. was enough.
And those entries haven't been updated how the settings actually work with Win10.
And just tell how it used to work.
My neighbour at least had a legitimate problem.
They had two apps for SMS, one provided by Google and one by Samsung.
One was configured for SMS-only, the other to prefer RCS.
Somehow both were registered for different protocols, but only one was default.
So it only allowed them to send/receive SMS messages to devices that didn't support RCS. Anything that could send/receive RCS instead just failed to communicate.
I dont understand you
They seems to work on my W11
Yes, and like I said, they only work partially, and not fully like they used to before Win10.
But not sure yet. Just testing it out.
It's a hilarious case where an OS update pushed by Samsung just broke their texting capabilities entirely.
🤦
Gotta love auto-updates..
Microsoft tells in documentation which on works for which W version.
We all moved over here and now #satisfactory-experimental chat is dead. 😛
Which isn't actually always up to date or complete.
I have been using that specific setting since Windows Vista IIRC.
That specific one in Windows 10 is marked as:
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 or At least Windows 2000 Service Pack 3
Option 7 only supported on servers of at least Windows Server 2016 edition
Have you tried a clean install
I mean, if you do gpedit and regedit chances are high you broke your os
I mean that the Win10 intentionally broke the "ask for install" part for most of that stuff.
Compared to Pre Win10.
So that specific entrys settings are much less useful and user friendly than before
My experience: regedit is a mess. Half of the shit doesn’t work on home. You have no way to know which keys work on home from pro. People claim they can copy paste a pro reigstry to home and it all works. But after weeks I haven’t seen any result on home with regedit pro/gpedit values
So community: you can get pro features on home with regedit. My experience: no.
Might have worked in older edition but not anymore
I googled for this year. And found all sorts of wild claims.
Anyway, regedit is not a rabbit hole I will jump in quickly.
gpedit seems way nicer.
the most annoying part of apple 'dumbing things down' for users, is they simply rip it all out and dont even leave hidden power-user configs and stuff available to continue using
i like both... i use my macs for 'work' and personal file management ... but i use my pcs for 'fun shit'
they should just have a “not a lifetime apple user” mode where stuff isn’t dumbed down and they don’t remove stuff
I just want to play games 😭 But everyday something happens on this W11 crap that makes me clean install.
Why?
Because I just want a clean OS that dont install steelseries and shit?
Not really possible? Why isn't just uninstalling enough?
We’ve been over this.
How do I uninstall something, when it installed without my consent?
Through the normal menu for that?
you right click it, and click delete
It gets added there.
What did it add to registry? What are all the directories?
The control you seem to want over your OS just isn't possible with todays Windows.
And not really needed either.
Haha 😂 I like your optimism Baldur. Haha the uninstall menu. Yeah… that leaves behind 0 crap.
i need windows to add a “remove all traces of this mfer from my computer” feature so i can remove mcafee and razer software from my computer properly
had some damned mcafee files keep me from deleting them even acting as an administrator
never did manage to delete them
I whish windows did it like Linux. Opt in instead of this opt out bullshit.
Steelseries probably left traces all over my system with a uninstall. The fact is. i am not at fault here.
Windows shouldnt just install bloatware as drivers.
if it was a completely fresh install it shouldn’t be possible for steelseries to install itself
Or better yet. Ask users before installing? What a crazy idea.
Read up.
WU installed steelseries as “driver” is the short of it.
Stuff like that is included in "Critical Driver Updates" in Windows Update, that gets autoinstalled even if you set WU not to be allowed to install Drivers.
needing software for peripherals is dumb
If there has ever been security update need for that specific "driver" package.
that’s what firmware is for
Just needs the HW manufacturer send MS a "driver" marked as critical, doesn't actually need to include something that is needed.
my keyboard, mouse, and headphones all don’t need software, and that’s how i like it
Same.
People pay for an OS that just does whatever the fuck it wants with 0 control.
sounds like apple and chrome os
Because that is just a listing?
And they go into the normal side of uninstalls.
i had to remove razer software entirely from my old pc cause it triggered the cheating mechanism in an online test my dad had to take
microsoft teams also triggered it
Normal listing, the old listing, or the "View installed updates" extra button in the old listing for Win10.
No idea about Win11.
I wouldn’t be so frustrated if I could uninstall the steelseries bloat with 2 clicks. I wouldn’t be frustrated if windows asked me to download drivers for steelseries. But MS choose for an UX they know people would piss off. And don’t want that? Pay for pro.
It is in a way meant to update driver software versions that have major software vulnerabilities automatically.
But there is hole where it does that even if there isn't previous version installed that would need the fix.
Sorry, normally I try to look at things from multiple angles. But no matter how I look at it, I hate microsoft for this. I don’t see a “but…”. There is no but. This is unacceptable.
Rofl. Yeah my steelseried headset had major security flaw… yeah right…
The SteelSeries software itself.
Like I said. There is no but. This argument is so dumb.
Give home edition gpedit. And problem solved.
There has been some 0-day with the SteelSeries Software.
Power users know what to do. Normal users are protected.
Privilige escalation attack in it.
Bro… i dont have software of steelseries. CLEAN install.
Tell me why push it to my PC?
Like I said, the functionality has reason.
And there is bug/feature/hole in it that doesn't consider if the security update is needed or not.
In that it doesn't check if older version is installed or not.
So MS is actually pushing software to our os with vulnerabilities.
All bullshit.
You can 100% protect newbies. And 100% give power users control.
No, they are pushing the fixed version if they don't have marking that fixed version is already installed.
But that check has the hole of not checking if the software isn't there yet at all.
It’s a balance. MS wants money. Thats al.
Causing your issue.
i have a gmmk keyboard that’s controlled just from function keys thank god
It is good for most users.
But there is that bug that causes it to be problem in specific cases, like yours.
mouse and headphones both have no rgb
Man, I hope MS installs all kind of shit on your PC
Hope you like it.
i have a 100% keyboard i got with my pc as a backup
And have fun cleaning up.
also uses function keys to control rgb
And remember: it’s all for your security. So when you spend hours cleaning up the system. Send love to MS for protecting you.
And when I have said that the bug isn't bad?
Just trying to say WHY the functionality is there.
And what kind of mistake MS coders have made, causing your issue.
Nah, I hate it that people defend MS
don’t have enough experience with other OS’s to have an opinion
For really sketchy and bad UX. Call a cow a cow.
Either protect most of the population and cause issues for few power users.
Or satisfy the power users and leave lot of people with unsafe software.
They should satisfy both, but they don't currently.
haven’t had many issues with win11 other than them keeping me from fully deleting mcafee
Baldur.. you forget. They offer this! If you have pro. How can you not see the irony?
And like I said multiple times, with Win10 and after they broke the control functionality partially.
Even with Pro or Enterprise.
If you don't set up local update server.
It works here. I blocked drivers.
My sister and brother-in-law are both big Apple users.
They are also exactly the kind of consumption-happy people you'd expect, jump on fads and use techology because it exists rather than because it's actually useful..
No more steelseries installed.
They also have constant issues with WiFi at most places they go, and continue to blame everyone but the manufacturer of the devices struggling to connect. 😛
It works on my end. W11 pro.
Without a local update server.
Yeah thats fine. If you dont pay 150 for an OS
Ok, so the block drivers counts for even the "critical" ones at this time.
whos paying 150usd for windows
idrc that much about data collection
i ain’t that interesting of a person
you can get legitimate licenses for less
I stopped using Windows. That's about as far as I could go.
As for stuff online, I configured my browser to only store cookies for whitelisted sites. It's only a partial solution, and I have to hope the data protection laws help me on the rest.
Maxeek. Thats why I am so pissed. Because aslong as people are like “this is fine” , microsoft will keep dumbing down OS and removing settings. Consumers need to start pushing back in my opinion. But I know I am a lone wolf in this one.
And even Linux and package managers don't save you from the "shit left over from uninstalled things" problem.
Because not all packages include the necessary data about what extra files they create during use.
(Also I just outright lied about my personal details on my Google account. Illegal and yet feels safer.)
can i move my m.2 with the os on it from one pc to another and not have to deal with licenses
Using a Microsoft account today? Probably.
Atleast they do a better job by TRYING
Windows doesn’t even try…
I love brew package manager for example
At least it's 2023 and everyone's on an SSD, so those extra files don't impact disk performance any longer.
i’ll prolly jankily plug in my current hard drive to the motherboard so i can transfer files to the new m.2
i have a memtest86 thumb drive i can use to test the ram too
Still available if you mean the hotswap things?
i’ll prolly upgrade to 64gb ddr5 6400mhz
If you don't already, consider Ventoy.
Why have a USB for memtest and a USB for OS when you can have both on one? Make it a compact SSD while you're at it. 😛
I just got HW solution, 2.5" SATA drive caddy that has Optical, floppy, USB stick etc. emulators.
Just put the image files to specific directory and select what you want to show out.
I ended up reverting my RAM back to stock 4800MT/s.
Two failed boots due to power issues fried my board's settings and I had to use the CMOS jumper pins to reset it..
Still exist. Just harder to find.
Baldur. What group policy didnt work for you?
Was talking about the changes to the Windows Update "ask things" one.
Where now the "Check for Updates" also means "install them" etc.
Compared to before Win10.
I wonder if I will get message for W11 updates.
you killed your keyboard?
i’d cry if my keyboard died
it’d be 134usd and 2 hours of work to replace it
i threw some tape on the back of my keyboard pcb and it actually helped
feels better when typing
i custom built mine
custom built keyboards ftw
more expensive but you get exactly what you want
macro keypad off to the side
If only this could be for OS 🤣
just learn how to solder and you can throw in your nice switches too
Soldering doesnt seem hard
don’t think hotswappable macro keypads are much of a thing rn
my dream keyboard would be like 250usd
65%
I could use wireless keychron one a bit bigger
My current one is a bit hatd to move arrows.
browns hurt my soul
they just sound and feel so bad
silent, thocky, clicky, whatever browns counts as
ranked in order
opticals seem gimmicky to me
no way people can actually tell the difference in responsiveness
i want a stream deck, but jesus are they expensive
so i’ll prolly go with a little macro keypad
don’t have a job rn so….
not at the age i need one
still a minor
stream deck, not steam deck
goodluck ever trying to find a stream deck by searching stream deck
like 180usd iirc
like 12 keys with lcd screens
i dont even want it for streaming
just macros
Use ahk, bind macros to ctrl + fn(or num)
well i looked specifically on amazon
Ah, so Amazon's search is bad. 😛
i love you
I'm likely going to cancel prime after Christmas.
Next year they're putting ads on their prime video.
I'm flattered
on amazon, nah, on tik tok, to an unholy degree
I don't know if my ad block will block them, don't really care.
I'm avoiding amazon as a market place these days, it's turned to crap.
A billion Chinese knock-offs and nothing quality to be seen.
I am having a better time finding decent stuff on ebay at this point. x3
amazon is too convenient
Convenient crap is still crap.
I mostly use it for <£10 purchases at this point. Anything substantial I can get a better deal elsewhere, and I don't need next-day delivery.
I'd rather spend 20% more elsewhere and have something that lasts twice as long.
I'm gutted that we lost Wilko. I was going in there several times a week.
still convenient tho
i don’t mind spending the time to comb through the chinese crap
i mean i do mind
but not really a great alternative
The problem is the Chinese knock-offs will put the good brands out of business, and then all you have left is the crap.
And so instead of Amazon, I bought myself a beanie from Carhartt.
It cost me £3.50 in delivery and I still prefer this to Amazon. 😛
Seriously..
I'm quite limited in what I can spend, but I'm still not going to buy crap. I'll save for longer and buy something decent.
Speaking of which.. heat pump tumble dryers.
A little more costly but the clothing comes out so soft! Great for towels.
First off.. England. I can put clothing on the line to dry and in this weather it'll take days to finish drying properly.
And then the clothing can end up creased.
If you're in a hot climate, not an issue. In England? You want a dryer.
Michigan? Dryer.
Heat pump dryers use about 1/3rd the energy. They don't use the heat pump just for heating (though they do partially), but more to create very dry air and draw the moister out.
A combination of warm-and-dry and it does a wonderful job.
I tend to do a combination of air dry then 30 minutes in a dryer to finish off.
Anyways.. people use dryers because they dry fast. And sometimes fast is better than cheap.
Also, fossil fuel dryers are cheap and fast
Cheap? Have you seen the price of gas over here?
I think I pay $0.03/m3
I..can't give you a comparison in those units.
What is your gas charged by?
Our gas is piped in and it's charged by the kWh.
They're relatively uncommon
Oh really?
Interesting
Or sometimes a Therm of gas.
If I find one of my bills, I can get the exchange factors..
If you go with propane it's a lot more expensive to have it trucked in
My power is all government-subsidized hydro
So it's cheap
Gas is a very standard thing to be piped here in the UK.
Only recent homes in the last 5-10 years will forego it, or very rural areas. Since we all have gas heating.
Gas heating is common here as well, especially in my area a lot of houses have it
gas heating is common where i’m at, but it’s mostly via tank
we’re too far in the middle of nowhere
Propane is convenient
no city sewage or water either
population?
~18k people live in my town
And there's no water/sewer??
yep
We're barely at 2k and we have water, sewer, and gas
mostly septic tanks and wells
Our entire county is a fair bit smaller than 18k lol
next town over who does have city sewage and water has a pop of 36k
Our town of 2k has had city water for almost 80 years
Based on this, 900ft³ becomes 25.47m³
And at a cost of £20.21 pre-tax and convert to USD...
$0.96/m³?
Well water is the best to drink
Your mayor is waiting to reach the next milestone and unlock the clean versions
You just have to replace your showerhead every year
don’t think it’s safe to drink our well water
not entirely sure they truly passed the reqs
you probably could, but i wouldn’t recommend it
Assuming my numbers were right, my natural gas costs ~32x more than your propane. 😛
(And before tax too)
power outages are also super common
That's my cost for natual gas
Propane is much more expensive
And to be fair that number is a few years out of date
if the wind blows too hard the power flashes
Part of it is because some crazy guy in a pretends-to-be democratic country decided war was definitely a good idea and nothing could go wrong.
only half joking
Aboveground power - cheap to construct, fast to build, unreliable
That's how we like it
And now energy costs twice what it did here as compared to 2021.
pow-wah
mine still works
It probably won't for much longer. since youtube has been doing that I've cut back on how much time I watch videos on that platform
above ground is more efficent. - lower losses for AC current.
for a small neighborhood.. or those diguesting suburbs we love in the states, it's fine underground. you woudn't want to bury a hundred miles of 220kV transmission lines tho
So here in the UK, they're turning off the copper phone network apparently by the end of 2025.
And all major ISPs support VoIP, but only on full-fibre lines.
So I'm just wondering.. given how it's taken them over a decade to reach not even half the country, how are they going to finish the entire rollout in the next ~26 months? 🤔
Yeah, I was referring to local distribution lines
transmission lines rarely have issues. although we had a hurricane awhile back that actually destroyed them.
transmission towers broken in half or laid down completely.
most of our ISP's support some kind of voip on cable here. I think there's still alot of DSL internet though.. maybe that's what they're reffering to.. no more analog copper lines.
The UK is mostly ADSL if not on fibre.
dsl will get you up to like 30 - 50 mbps now.
ADSL and speed of 19 up, 75 down.
(Realistically at least. It's sold as 80/20 or 76/18)
It's fibre to the cabinet and then ADSL to the home.
the first time we got dsl I was so happy to have 128kbit
But anyway.. unless you're on a full fibre connection over here, you don't get VoIP. And so.. what're they gonna do at the end of 2025 when probably still 40% of the country is on analogue phones?
It's a pretty mad oversight right now.
If they're just shutting it down.. then they figure you already have a cell phone.
Legally they can't do that for a bunch of reasons. Some people are still outside service range, some people rely on the phone system for medical devices.
if you don't and you're a business.. then you'll have to use a third party service like magicjack
And also the contracts people have which include phone line access.
Found a perfect ringtone for my phone

Some sneak peek
#OnePieceLiveAction #TransporderSnail
At least he has a style compared to Helmeppo
It it, the character that doesn't appear in the video isn't though
a.k.a. a shithead marine with a bad haircut
welp i'm definitely cpu throttled
8 cores are at 100% utilization
gpu is at 60%
there we go
at max settings gpu is at 97% with no decrease in fps
I don't have problems with a CPU (yet...). I do however have problems with my internet connection and epic launcher
Had to limit upload speed in order to prevent loosing internet connection
I do hope I get fiber asap
why, are you backed up ?
Epic launcher kills my internet if I don't limit upload speed (I have 43 mbit/s download and 7 mbit/s upload)
So I have to limit upload to 5 or 6 mbit/s
This happens only when I want to start a game and epic starts syncing
I haven't tested if this happens on other games though. So far I tested it on cyberpunk 2077
i had the same issues with upload capping, causing a total crapout of download and accessibility
back when my upload was like 3mbit
now its 400mbit, and i like my fiber 😄
sure it does
I like fiber too (including the edible version
)
did you know if you pick enough fiber, you can learn how to make a starship engine?
probably not the best channel, but ... its like ... tech related ... you know, earn enough xp gathering plants, to use to learn how to make technology
makes perfect sense in some games ...
i'd play too many games if i had insomnia
I've been working from 08:00 and stayed in the office until 19:20 today ☕
Usually, I don't stay that much but I wanted to finish as much work as possible
Hey so is this like computer tech talk only or also physics talk too?
Cuz I want to ask if an engine design i thought about would theoretically work
Basically, we get a small (but powerful) particle accelerator, we pump UF6 or vapour uranium into it (or just small pellets) accelerating particle to ~50% speed of light and at the end they would be hit by a wave of electrons, ensuring fission, and at small scales it’s a bit of an overkill, but we can pump trillions of Uranium atoms thru accelerator, creating a stable fission reaction
I know Radiation and Light from this basically atomic bomb would travel at speed of light, but if we use it in space, we wouldn’t need to worry that much about thermal radiation, since 1. There isn’t really a medium for these atoms to divisors heat 2. We’re moving too fast (if ship can achieve this theoretical 50% speed of light speed)
I don't know enough to say why that wouldn't work, except for the extreme demand for electricity
If this would be symmetrical, and we had enough battery power (Helium-3 reactors perhaps?) then reaching Mars would be a 40 minute trip, and Alpha Centauri- 9 year trip. Of course, the electric wave and the accelerator would need tremendous amount of power, but that’s a problem we will either fix in near future or we will all die due to CO2 emissions, making our air toxic, and dead people don’t care bout anything
This engine wouldn’t allow for fast inter-stellar travels, but it would allow for fast inter-planetary travel
how do i figure out where amazon music is if i can't for the life of me find the exe file
i specifically need to find where the exe file is so i can run it via ahk
i found the file location, but it's 265 folders and none of em are named anything sensical
oh nvm i found it
how in the world do i use this
i'm trying to run an application via a hotkey but i have no idea how to get it to work
You're using ahk v2?
mhm
Just using the Run function
i have no idea where to put that command
yall saw the new amd fluid motion feature released on the experimental AMD drivers?
I was wondering how it compares to RSR
One sec, I'll give you an example
It did and then they rolled back that driver
nope, its here and they have a download
they probably fixed the issues and re-released it
Download the ahk devkit and just put this in a file. Change the path to the program you want to run, and change the keybind to whatever you want(currently bound to ctrl + 1)
^1::
{
Run "C:\Windows\notepad.exe"
}
That's my favorite part about ahk
Absolutely no boilerplate, just straight to the point
where do i download the ahk dev kit
yeah i'm there, but i don't see a devkit
You just click download
oh you just mean the normal application
The software you download has everything you need to complie to an .exe and then you can just set that to run at startup in windows
Yup
Once you create your scripts, they're a standalone exe
So it's incredibly lightweight, negligable resource usage
Basically no cpu time and just a couple mb of memory
Once you're at the dashboard
i made the script, went and converted it via the compiler, then tried the keybind and no dice
It works for me
I just double-checked
It should show up as a service in your system tray - is it there?
^1::
{
Run "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AmazonMobileLLC.AmazonMusic_9.5.2.0_x86__kc6t79cpj4tp0\Amazon Music.exe"
}
the exact code plus what it looks like
yeah it's there
oh it worked now
it was just having a moment
if i want to run multiple apps can i just copy paste that same format multiple times
perfect
that makes my life so much easier
now i can run translucenttb, rainmeter, and wallpaper engine from one keybind
Yeah, it's an amazingly powerful tool
do i have to open the application upon a computer restart or will it send to system tray by itself
so this will work once i fill in the info for paths?
^2::
{
Run "C:\Windows\notepad.exe"
}
^2::
{
Run "C:\Windows\notepad.exe"
}
^2::
{
Run "C:\Windows\notepad.exe"
}
You can make it run at startup by going to run(win +r) > shell:startup > place a shortcut to the exe there
Yep
If you want to do multiple apps off the same keybind you can just put all of the run commands inside the same set of brackets
says there was an error
by in one bracket did you mean like this
^2::
{
Run "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\28017CharlesMilette.TranslucentTB_2023.1.0.0_x64__v826wp6bftszj\TranslucentTB.exe"
Run "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\wallpaper64.exe"
Run "C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Rainmeter.exe"
}
nvm it worked
alright i'm set, that's the two things i wanted to do
Yup
Here's a page explaining modifiers if you want to use a different keybind www.autohotkey.com/docs/v2/Hotkeys.htm#Symbols
and it worked on restart, perfect
Glad to help 👍
Thank you so much!
This guy really hates Mac for some reason lol https://youtube.com/shorts/2Ca6zFEaJQI?feature=shared
Besides using a mac too, not sure if there is something else I am missing
i'm chalking that up to "he a lil confused"
Maybe he is mad because the coworker got a laptop which can be carried around while he is stuck with iMac lol
The joke is that MacBooks are unrepairable
Oh 😅
The newer generations can't even have the screen or the hinge sensor replaced without calibration
Even laptop manufacturers that make laptops for windows/linux make terrible hinges
I have 2 asus laptops at home and webcam is no longer working because of the hinge or broken flexible cable somewhere inside the hinge
why the hell do these shithole games make my gpu go brrrrr in the fucking main menu
but in game its like fine
why the fuck are you wanting to push 400 frames in main menu
could I write a scipt with that that'll do the same thing as my powershell script for my satis dedi?
lol..
how do i see what processes are using vram
my computer is using 9GB of vram with nothing running
You can enable the cram column in task manager and sort descending
Probably could
i don't see that as an option
.bat is equally suited to the task though
Oh 🤔
Didn't you also have insanely high system memory usage?
can I corrupt my file if i load and had mods before?
yeah...
my computer is currently using 17gb of ram with just task manager open
is ur hard drive full?
like 11 of that is wallpaper engine, which is fine
it'll disable itself if i need that ram
thats it haha
omg it's wallpaper engine
If that's the case it might be wallpaper engine hogging vram as well
when i ended the task i jumped down to 1.5gb of vram
Lol power virus much?
weird that it was telling me i exhausted my vram even though it was the one using all my vram even when not actually showing my animated wallpaper
ram usage is down to 6gb
time to play with settings to reduce resource consumption
that ain't right.. I'm using 21GB... satis dedi, astroneer dedi, minecraft dedi and a VM running a NVR x:
what kind of background do you have?
Having launched Borderlands 2 in fullscreen instead of borderless window, I can tell you that the 7900 XTX can play it at 1440p ultra at 500fps.
So if anyone bought a 480Hz monitor, rejoice!
amazon is going to offer internet.. based on your browsing histroy, you may enjoy these products
They are going to force their way to be the only option
They're going to sell that data to market ads in your suggestions on your amazon prime for sure
so next time you're looking to have a good time to yourself, you'll be reminded of what you watched on prime
checks notes basically just wallpaper engine
11gb with wallpaper engine up, 1.5gb without
what the hell kind of wallpaper you got
tRP 36 had 3 errors during the night...
At least hopefully it was that and not the tRCD 36
Seems I need to run some more memtest passes with 30-36-38 next.
You don't consider waiting for computer to test RAM fun?
Fortunately I have two other computers to do fun stuff while I wait.
So 30-36-38-60 worked for 5 memtest passes, time to continue to tRAS.
So next from tRAS of 60 to work it down to 48 if possible.
tRAS 50 was the previous limit.
30-36-38-48 seems to be stable.
So then to tRC.
Let's see what the secondary and tertiary timings will turn out to be
On the Buildzoid ones, did them to that first.
Will recheck once the primaries are done.
Trying tighter ones first, which probably won't work for most, one at a time.
And after that trying looser ones for each and seeing what the performance difference is.
In several different tests.
Because you can get better performance in some specific one with some latency looser if it causes the IMC to use more optimal interleaving.
But will then cause worse performance in another.
Got data:
Intel Memory Latency Checker results not included, but saved as per run .txts on the machine.
tREFI and tRFC:s are custom, from previous testing.
Which included heating the RAM modules with hot air gun until the reported RAM temperature (PMIC has the temperature sensor) was 80C or so.
And needed to pass the Memtest86 bit fade test.
The tRAS 30 and tRC 68 are much lower than is actually used in the Buildzoid Hynix timings.
So as the tRAS 48 worked, I could just put the 30 in too and the actual result would be the same.
And now to test the minimal tRC of 86.
For the current settings. of 30-36-38 with tRTP 12.
36+12 = 48 which sets that limit, and then 38+48 = 86 which sets that limit.
Will see if going below has any effect at the end of the process.
XP as well.
So the current timings.
Need to do more secondary/tertiary testing next.
But first need to run night of memtest on current set and do larger set of performance tests under Safe Mode.
So just set to tRAS 30, tRC 68, which shouldn't have any difference from that set, and will set Memtest86 to run until tomorrow.
Nice
And without Gear Down Mode, on 1T, with dual-rank RAM.
I know a couple of people in the PCPP server that'd be quite interested in following this journey
So the primaries are at minimum for current voltages with this RAM.
Need to do more testing on the secondaries and tertiaries.
Really hate that AM5 AGESA doesn't support ECC RAM error reporting yet, only does correction.
So currently testing with ECC disabled, so the two extra dies aren't tested.
So with ECC on, single bit errors are just corrected and swallowed, and dual errors lead to automatic UEFI initiated reboot.
And all the RAM ECC related AGESA settings beside the enable/disable toggle are missing.
But it was the same with early AM4 AGESA versions.
@twin dew holy God. My man is like I'm confused asf here holy shit I get what your saying. Damnnmn dude.
But I'm off to bed early.
that there are all these 'universal' plugs, and they are all different sizes and shapes and even specs in some cases (where usb-c could be a charging spec, or not)
Well what is USB so far?
Up to 100w power, devices, storage, audio, video..
Do you think in 20 years time, people will be plugging their cars into the wall with an oversized Type-C connector?
USB-PD is up to 240W now, but still a bit low for car charging😁
A few more revisions and we can all throw our bulky PSUs out of our PC cases.
A GaN charging brick and some voltage control circuitry and you're done.
(How long until we have DC from the wall as standard instead of AC?)
I wonder if you could log in to a citrix server from a smart fridge - and that way work 100% from home with no difference to any other work from home setup
it might be time for an upgrade soon
it was up for 30 before.
Yeah, 5 isn't bad
can't really keep windows 10 up for longer than that due to updates.
I usually shoot for a week+
my pc restarts nightly
along with disc defragging for my hard drive, and driver update if needed
I've got too much shit running to let it do that.
iirc it won’t restart if i have something running
I had a windows xp machine that did nothing but act as a print server and samba file shares that had almost a year of uptime once.
but like what’s wrong with your utilization
not a single core is even close to 100% utilization
That'd be a good thing how?
well it’s not bad per say for it to be at 100% utilization
I'd say it's not bottlenecked (:
Gpu is optimal, will give the smoothest experience
in a perfect world every component would be right at or near 100% utilization, but we don’t live in an perfect world
both my cpu and gpu are right around 100% utilization in satisfactory tho
If I hit 100%.. I'll be sad, and my wallet will be sad too.
i hit 100% regularly
if you don’t hit 100% you either spent too much on your pc or you don’t use your pc enough
because I'll be building another machine to offload something to.
If that's a server then yeah
I thought we were talking about a gaming rig here though
it being a server makes more sense
it does host my satis dedi tho.. so in that way it is gaming
satis dedi is pretty cheap on cpu, at least right now with a 5mb save and 200 hours although it is using like 60% of one thread
what would be the best cpu for hosting gaming servers
assuming you have all the budget in the world
a gaming cpu.. higher ipc vs server cpu's
so 7950x3d?
what kind of stuff is threadrippers good for?
don’t they have a stupid amount of cores?
epyc and threadrippers are server/work stations cpus for highly multithreaded applications... ie not games
ah
Threadripper not so much
It's a dead platform now, they haven't released one for two generations
so according to that.. there's no difference between the amd 7950x3d vs intel i9 13900k although fight or flight makes a very valid point.. the amd cpu will host more servers
when i upgrade my current pc i might turn my current pc into a server for hosting stuff
They took top-end gaming cores and crammed 32+ of them into one chip
I mean, mine has an i7700 and it's working just fine. most of the cpu usage is a garbage tier NVR program that's eating 50% since I added 1 more camera -.-
before it was 5% for the nvr.
currently have an i7-12700f, 32gb ddr4 3200mhz, 3060
something I learned though.. if you're planning on building a headless server with consumer hardware.. make sure it has intergrated graphics.
looking to upgrade to the 7800x3d, 64gb ddr5 6400mhz, 7900xt
I was going to use an amd althon x2 system to build a pfsense box.. and after installing an OS and removing the gpu it wouldn't boot lol
i’ll just leave the gpu in it
cause uh, no integrated graphics
now it's wasting power D:
not a big deal
that’s like a couple penny’s a month at most
dropping 1 quarter a month would cost me more
it is for me. it's hot here and we run AC almost all year round.. so I'm paying for everything twice
finally cooled down where i’m at
had to add an extra blanket on my bed, i don’t mind tho
i like a cold room with a warm blanket
speaking of, i should sleep
at that point you might as well mine bitcoin. free* heat
Got Zen 3 version, was just Lenovo exclusive for a year.
Now free for all.
And Zen 4 version is coming pretty soon AFAIK.
And the point of Threadripper is also the higher amount of RAM channels, for more bandwidth to feed the cores.
But 11 passes and 12h of Memtest86 completed.
Time to continue forward to retesting the secondaries and tertiaries.
After I eat something.
Oh, they did get a zen3 version?
That's really cool, didn't know that
ThreadRipper Pro 5000 WX series
aaaaa
neat
Hello herg
Aren't you supposed to be asleep rn?

That'll be a cpu I'll never be able to afford.
Rumored to be October 19th for the launch overview.
Not that I have a need for one anyway
But the 7950X3D is pretty much the ultimate combined heavy work & gaming CPU right now.
But needs project lasso or like to control game threads so they go to the right CCD depending on game.
Tiny bit worse than 7950X non-3D for heavy work, but significantly better for games that like the extra cache.
Limitation vs. Threadrippers is the RAM channel amount.
And amount of PCIe
No, just 8x high-frequency Zen4 and then 8x lower-frequency Zen4 with V-cache.
They have the Zen4c now, but it is identical to normal Zen4, just smaller size and lower max frequency.
Performance at same frequency is the same
128 lanes of pcie 4.0/5.0 depending on which gen TR
Small Phoenix mobile CPUs are the first ones to mix.
2 Zen4 and 4 Zen4c.
So not E-cores like Intel, just smaller die area, lower frequency and lower power, but same cores.
by the time different core types come to amd, hopefully OS's and drivers will be better able to task those cores.
Maybe less so drivers but more task scheduling.
Zen4 is performance optimized original variant, and Zen4c is just die-size and power optimized later variant with exact same functionality.
But the optimizations make it so it cannot boost to as high frequency.
The first minute is great 🤣

The Intel Core i7-14700K CPU is part of the Raptor Lake Refresh family, and we're reviewing it today. These benchmarks including gaming tests vs. the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, R5 5800X3D, the i7-13700K, and...
I watched that
The jokes about very large numbers throughout the video are also very funny
Yeah, but I'm only 4 minutes in.
Ah
It only gets funnier
I listened to it on my drive this morning and had to stop and laugh
It can, just that easier for people to watch the first minute as taste.
Will comment after I have watched it all.
TrrdL 6 worked for single memtest pass.
But now to get the baseline numbers in Windows safe mode.
Nah, the rest wasn't anywhere as good and in no way worth it to watch just for them.
Nice addition if you want to watch the whole thing for other reasons.
Hmm... Turbo isn't active in Safe Mode, so the CPU sits at constant 4200MHz.
Was wondering about some results compared to before, but that explains it.
But the whole point switching to safe mode was to get consistent results.
So that works fine.
I expected safe mode to not interfere with the cpu at all lol
You learn something new every day huh
Now to see in how many ways I can make the RAM training fail.
First is tRTP 10.
Wow, that booted.
But going to get much slower from here, because need to do 1 hour run of Memtest after each change before booting to Windows for performance tests.
Then tRTP 8...
Corrupted Asus screen and stuck.
Tras 46 booted fine, now some memtest for it.
1 pass ok...
Weird to see how changing single timing causes the memory performance for one program to go up and go down for another.
Because how the IMC interleaves the memory accesses changes.
And how there are at times exceptionally bad and exceptionally good runs, even in the Windows Safe Mode.
(0.2% difference?)
As in 0.1-0.2% difference from the average in either direction for the outliers.
TrrdL 4 was step too far, gave memtest errors, but 6 seems to work.
And how the hell am I running TrrdS 2?
Made through a memtest pass...
Ah, it was Activate to Activate Delay Time, different bank group, the different group being the important thing.
L was the same bank group.
So probably anything under 4 doesn't actually do anything?
Or some other timing is masking it still?
Yeah, seems Asus just allows to set values that don't actually mean anything?
Not me avoiding powershells execution policy by just encoding it in base64 and running it via cmd hihi
The weird thing is that ZenTimings does show the officially invalid timings values for tFAW, which is supposed to be min of 20 on AM5, and several other MB manufacturers UEFIs don't let you to set it lower, but Asus does allow and ZenTimings does show the set value.
But probably IMC just upping the value to minimum actual supported one?
UnPossible Timings of Baldur!
Cool!
So the tRAS and tRC could also be anything below.
And I did test that last night.
But seems that the tRRDS cannot really be below 4 and tFAW is officially minimum of 20 (minimum time to do 4x tRRDS) on AM5.
4 and 16 was the tightest you could get for those on DDR4 in any RAM OC guide.
TwtrL 14 gets errors, so back to 16, and then to see if TwtrS can be lowered from 6.
Got into Memtest86.
And no immediate errors, time to try to have a nap.
Final results?
Also, how about increasing frequency - and how's before/after benchmarks?
Nah, just after putting in those timings that should be impossible, the tRRDS 2 and tFAW 8.
Max frequency I can do with those voltages stable.
Will work on FCLK later.
So on the real side got the tRP down 12 -> 10, which allowed to get tRAS and tRC down by two too.
Then tRRD_L 8 -> 6, tWTR_S 6 -> 4.
And then those impossible tRRD_S and tFAW.
tREFI could be raised to max at the normal operating temperature, but have been keeping it low to work at very high RAM temperatures if needed, will need to think and test that at the end.
Ok, seems there is some limit to how low some of those can go, doesn't train right now.
Booted with tRAS 1 and tRC 1.
Too bad ASRock doesn't specify the minimum timings in their BIOS guide...
OK, the AGESA side specifies them, in hex.
Time to get those into documentation and into decimal.
So 22 min for CL, 8 for RCD and RP, 30 for RAS, 32 for RC, 48 for WR, 5 for RTP, 4 for RRD_L and _S, 20 for FAW, 8 for WTR_L and 2 for WTR_S.
Rest had minimum of 1.
And so the TwtrS 2 didn't boot.
Ok, might boot, seems that the RAS and RC don't like to be that low?
Time to do some checking on them..
tRAS 30, tRC 34 works, tRC 32 doesn't.
Even when anything below 84 shouldn't do anything in this case, and 32 should be the minimal value for the IMC settings registry.
And TwtrS 2 boots.
30pin
And these final test don't actually mean anything mostly.
Might give some performance boosts to programs that have very weird and inefficient RAM access patterns.
Mainly been keeping eye out that there aren't any significant drops compared to previous results.
Need to do the full tuning to tight as possible, then raise the IF, then do sanity checks where I loosen specific timings that seemed to have counterproductive results in the initial data.
And see if they still give better results while looser.
Meaning this trying to get the secondaries and tertiaries to absolute minimum below the BuildZoid numbers.
Failures in Linpack... Need to see if it was TwtrS 4 or something else...
Possibly the tRAS and tRC?
Need to test more...
Man I wish I could understand what all the tNAME was meaning
it's so hard to find detailed documentations on these
not everyone have friends that work at Hynix or MSI
oh
And Micron has public datasheets which show how the stuff relates to each other to some extent.
wait reddit don't want to load, it says bad upstream
I'm going to try on my pc latter
thank you
how is old. the trick
Because I was using old. and just changed it to www., which used to work.
Hmm... tRC 34 was unstable somehow?
In Linpack and Memtest test 7...
And tRC 36 seems to work?
How can that be relevant at all?
When something in computers seems off, just assume fairy magic.
tRC: Row Cycle Time. The minimum amount of time between activation commands to the same memory bank. Just like the name suggests, this is the amount of cycles that the IMC has to wait before it can send another activation signal to a bank of memory.
Overclocking guidelines? : By definition, the lowest this can go is tRAS + tRP. The reason is as follows: tRAS is the number of cycles from activation to precharging, and tRP is the number of cycles between precharging and the activation of another row. Thus, tRAS + tRP is the number of cycles between activating one row of memory and activating another. If you’ll think back one paragraph, that’s exactly what tRC is for.
Well, need to move back few steps then.
To last tested config before I dropped the tRAS and tRC below the "this should be the minimum" values...
And actually test those changes.
So might put in tRAS 30, tRC 36, tWTR_S 2 for the night with memtest...
And then do the performance tests one step at a time tomorrow.
So would cost me 200e to replace?
Because that is my home insurance premium for accidental damage like this?
ouch that hurts
Gosh could you imagine dropping all that money on a monitor and breaking it like that
i’d contact the company you bought it from, but they might send you to the courier
I'm way to cheap to buy that
The guy who did buy it already ordered a replacement
i wish i was rich enough to not care about the price of a monitor and just replace it
Same here
It took me three years to save up for the gpu & cpu I wanted
Oh well
Really isn't that important in the grand scheme of things
Insurance is a thing.
Like I commented on mine.
Yup... those kind of policies can get pretty pricey though
And many of them are typically only avaliable to homeowners, not renters
Not here?
They're pretty much banking on the hope that most people won't cash in on the policy
easier to talk to the company you bought it from instead of going through insurance
if you bought it fairly recently just say it was damaged in shipping
probably illegal but who cares
Mine is 136,81e/year.
That's not bad at all
I'm assuming that's not bundled with homeowners insurance then
Wide coverage home insurance.
Wow, that's a very good price on that policy
For apartment and personal property.
Most us homeowners policies are an order of magnitude more expensive
Ahh, that's the difference
Rental, not homeowner
Makes a lot more sense
Yes.
But also covers up to 500 000e any damage I cause to the apartment etc.
The actual building insurance is separate and paid by the "building", so part of the rent.
Yup, that's typical for US as well
The actual insurance is up to 46820e of my stuff etc.
God only small amount one to keep the cost low.
With expanded coverage and lowered yearly downmarkings.
So for computer stuff, it is insured to full value for 2-3 years, depending on when you bought it and when you broke it.
Calendar year you bought it, one year in middle and the year you broke it don't devalue, any additional years do.
This was for computer stuff and electronics IIRC.
Different rates depending on category etc.
But for anyone who can afford 1500e+ monitor, I would expect them to have some kind of general home / personal property insurance.
But that insurance is required to rent basically.
Because most landlords want that liability insurance, for obvious reasons.
Paying little extra to have those better deprication schedules.
So Renters Insurance with combined personal property insurance and limited legal assistance insurance (up to 10ke of lawyers services, which goes pretty far over here).
But that liability insurance works for other things too IIRC.
Anyways, off to bed.
I still don't understand what's the difference between debit card and digital euro.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNJis8BEieo
Whether it's buying your morning coffee or paying the babysitter, you could pay with your digital euro wallet. The digital euro would be available for any electronic payments in shops, online or from person to person.
More on the digital euro project
https://ecb-internal.ecb.de/paym/digital_euro/how-it-works/html/index.en.html
Like, if you paid with your debit card, you paid with "digital" euro
Only advantage I see is splitting your bills with friends
debit is money you have to have to spend, no credit
I dont like this
so digital euro is ......
So digital euro is very similar to using a debit card, you can only spend what you have
so basically its someone else trying to step into something thats been cemented in society forever ...
kinda like venmo vs paypal ... like who the fuck cares
or that other one... pyypl ...
Yeah, there are like dozens of digital payment systems, we don't need payment method number 101
and then on top of the standard credit cards, theres ways to use them ... google pay, amazon pay, apple pay, samsung pay ... geezus
And by free payment, not sure if they meant businesses don't have to pay merchant fees like when a transaction is made with bank card
also... when i come across a webstore that supports 50 different ways to pay ... i immediately think of them as sketchy/skeevy/pron hosted
yeah not sure on the free payment bit .......
someone is gonna want their 'fee' for doing the service
we lose about 7% on every transaction due to all the payment processor/merchant fees involved by the time the money reaches our company bank account
I had an argument with my sister since she uses apple pay. Basically, for me it is much more convenient to simply grab a wallet and pull out a debit card
Takes 3 seconds literally
Or more if you are an old person
well, if you already have gone through the anal probing setup of apple pay ... doing it is as quick as mashing your tumb on the sensor
I like having physical representations of my stuff
I don't lik3 big data buying my purchase history so I use cash for all
I currently pay cash for the majority of my in-person purchases
oh, "in person" i never use any of those digital solutions... i yank out my debit card and swipe it over their sensor ... its on top of my wallet, which opens without velcro, and it is yeah litteraly 3 seconds total
i cant handle cash, cause i cant do maths in my head anymore 😄
I mean do I bring case of cash when I buy a car no. Use cashier check but credit is a scam for people who must have it now
plus i absolutely hate 'coins' for change back
My sister is working for the bank so maybe she is encouraging me to use google pay/apple pay so the bank can secretly "enslave" me
lol
Conflict of interest here
Lol
ive had Discover since 1992 ... and ive paid them $0 in interest / fees over the years
my MasterCard is the same, have had it since 2001 ...
basically my rule is: dont spend money i dont have to cover it
so ive never been late on a payment and had to pay interest
those interest rates are CRAZY HIGH LOL
Ya I don't gt that seems like why have it if you don't use it.. seems like a theft waiting to happe
what, 20% per month overdue? or some shit
I avoid paying with cash because I rarely have an exact change and pissed of several store cashiers this way lol
Crazy high.. higher then snoop dogg
Once, I had to pay around €0,60 for some cheap stuff I bought and gave the cashier €10 bill. She started swearing 😅
i have credit cards, because its much easier to pay with things in person with them .... and they are also a safety net in case my entire life is upended and i DO need to go into debt
also, having them, and having paid them off all this time, means my credit score is insanely good
im in the mid 800s last i checked
I Have a shit fund and go bag for that case.
Lol. Important things.
Seems like having enough coins to give an exact change is the biggest issue why a lot of people avoid paying in cash here. Not to mention store owners don't have enough coins too
I'm also a techno hippy that lives in the back woods of New England so how I live is radically dff from the progressive world.
So the issue is people unable to do math lol..
I usually pay it forward. Keep the change. Or give it to one of the 0an handlers
Pan*
coins weigh so much
I keep my coins in a cup in the center console of my car, and then just a few of them in my wallet
Good for the forearms
Last time I emptied the cup there was almost 20 bucks in there
also there is the part where i just dont like handling cash/coins ... my card stays with me, and no one else touches it
I feel sorry for the cashiers who work in the bakery. Imagine someone buying a baguette and giving you a €100 note lol
hehe i have a box in the closet with so many coins from the days i used to use cash .... i'd come home, throw the coins in the box cause i didnt like carrying them around
thing weighs a beast
and ive never gone through and put them in rolls to turn in cause .... time ...
i'll pass it off to my grand kid's kids to deal with
Take them to a coinstar
I love when I see a train ticket inspector wearing this around his hip. Would be cool to buy one
amazon probably has one
I printed a coin sorter on my 3D printer but It's not tall enough for all the coins
And I'm too lazy to monitor the printing process
If I get a new 3D printer, I will definetely buy a model that has a camera for detecting errors/mistakes in printing so it stops printing before the nozzle clogs
Can't remember how many times I've left my 3D printer unsupervised for an hour or more only to return later and see a clogged nozzle and a big mess
oddly i cant find any 3d printer disaster gifs
heh
WOW what a bunch of whiny bitches
I get a different message than that
Also I already figured out how to bypass it
hw media keys will play the video in the background behind the popup
Also, you can just filter by div class and block the popup
how do i do that
Chromium browser?
bruh, they should much rather scan ads for compliance with community guidlines
im scared to see my yt page
or at least check that it's not fucking malware
people get their videos flagged for using footage from ads because it violates the community guidelines
like wtf
You using chromium ?

or some erotica scams
Okay haven't gotten that with FF yet
im trying to play as many videos as I can to see if I get it
i heard that youtube was tossing that shit up on firefox using ublock now
Yeah I get adds for cracked games on a frequent basis
& yes, i have adblock plus & ublock
Maybe only use uBlock
I think
i also heard if you use both, its more prone to bitch, than just using ubluck
ABP is corrupted af
ublock my beloved
ABP deals with some companies letting their ads through
lol nope, ublock didn't stop it
firefox time :)
FF then
looks like it
but i like getting ethots, chinese manufacturing, & weird gun shit in my feed
I love the last part tbh
isnt google doing detection of installed extensions kind of a violation of some privacy rights in EU or some shit
They're just using normal adblock detection
time for the arms race to continue then
Yup, I'm expecting a rollout of new adblock that bypasses youtube's block soon™️
Either that or paid plan from the likes of apb that does it for $2/mo
i do find it hilarious that it magically doesn't apply to shorts
🙏 ⏸️ 🔥
who is apb
Adblock Plus
looks like malware
lol
I'm saying that because they already have a freemium model
ff users know whats up
You have to pay erxtra to actually get all adds blocked
abp ... og on the block ... went sour and corrupt ... ublock ... new kids trying to be hip and righteous... but will eventually turn and be corrupt
Ooh, quick google shows this from abp
whats alarming is .... its only 6 million users on one, 4 million on another 2 million ..... that is still a TINY fraction of people using web browsers
ok, still a tiny fraction of people using firefox
