For a packaging loop you need about 3x the amount of packages as can be processed inbetween the round-trip times, btw. One set for packaging, one set for unpackaging, and another "in transit" set

Valves will block liquids from entering a pipe the wrong way. This doesnt stop sloshing, but it works excellently to keep an output pipe empty so a machine can output into it. Valves are also good for limiting flow which can cause stability in a pipe, or just limit how much goes into the pipe after it.

Satisfactory doesn't, in general, place nicely with busses. Keep in mind: we have infinitely-producing nodes which generate at a 100% reliable rate, all consumption is likewise entirely constant, and the fastest belt in Satisfactory is slower than the slowest belt in Factorio (at least with Space Age)

In Satisfactory you can basically always know exactly how much material of something is on a belt. Direct A->B transfers tend to be a lot easier to manage

(You can, of course, make bus systems if you want, but you'll be in for a hell of a lot of extra work which doesn't really get you any gains)

And moving towards more general advice: Forget everything you learned in Factorio (at least for the duration of playing in Satisfactory). Despite both being "factory automation" games they have practically nothing in common gameplaywise

One other preemptive bit of Factorio-player advice: trains in Satisfactory are much simpler. They only ever take the shortest path, and do not route around congestion. :)

If you've got a handy coal node near where you need to fuel vehicles, then it's often awfully convenient. I'm not sure how quickly Trucks burn through 'em, but for tractors coal is a surprisingly good vehicle fuel

Nah, it's a huge map with a ton of resources. What I tend to recommend is just having smaller factories right near the nodes they need.

I personally try to avoid transferring ore at all, really.

My logistics tend to mostly be either intermediate products (from a "dedicated" subfactory to its destination) or consolidation to Central Storage, if I decide to do that (which I tend to do, though there's mechanisms in the game which more or less makes that obsolete)

you decide on what you want to produce (final product), calculate the whole production, build the whole factory near node(s) it needs. Repeat for every other product

It's a very common impulse to try and centralize production into one area, but it's a bit of a trap. Centralization is hard mode in the game. Entirely viable if you're willing to put the work in, but you're creating a lot of extra work for yourself
