Is the space elevator important
it is the major part of the game's progression
Basic progression, yes
Endgame, no
only if you want to progress through the games tech tree
we should be able to see grass beyond 3 character models of length on Ultra. xD
So I should complete the first phase of it
You should complete them when you can
im sure its not hard to force it, b ut still
go through the tutorial, learn the basics with ADA's guidance
Unlocking more stuff to get at camp is good
space elevator is the default main goal of the game so yes
and start working towards automating ore processing and power generation
it's not just important, it's paramount
563 iron is a lot
well... that's why it is paramount to progress towards automating iron and coal power generation
the requirement is there so you are forced to research to automate your production
Should I just do all pures or go overkill with it
All pures, extra crafted parts from machines, less energy consumption...
Man 1.2 is gonna be really really good
Is there any way to mine iron faster early game
the only concern with 100 warp drive/min run is the amount of lag with that many machines
turn on cheat engine speed hack :brain :
and mine it manually, beat mk3 in record time
I really recommend you to go through the tutorial with ADA's guidance
How do I start it
your compure will catch fire before you can use the base resources in a normal map, pure nodes doesn't really get you anything
start a new game and dont click skip the tutorial :p
I didn’t click that though
you might have to start a new save and don't skip tutorial
#screenshots message any1 got ideas for how to put away the residue with it looking cute
and then you follow ADA's instructions
But I’m already 6 hours of gameplay in
Ada is the goat
Watchu unlocked.
you can play the tutorial and switch back , its not a huge deal
its oddy ou never got it though
The entire point of the game is that there is no real "point"
It'll still be fun to try different ideas
very
yes. But what I'm sayign is there's no effective difference between pure nodes and regular map, since you can't use all those extra resources
nice
it does not increase the 'go big' aspect of the game
Fair
You can't make use of bauxite for 75% of the game
a lot of the fun in Satisfactory IMHO comes from vanity builds post space elevator
You don't have to leave space elevator up after its built, right? The space station itself stays there
yeah you can bring it down
chat gcmon any idea
pretty sure I don't have mine up anymore in the current run
do you have residue to rubber or plastic unlocked?
I'm doin all 3 of em
I js dont know EXACTLY how to belt them
time to maths!
Cause ion want it to look messy
also you can use straight mode of belt placement 🙂
more splitters into slower belts going everywhere making your factory look like a 3 y/o tried to wrap it in ribbons
how do I determine train throughput? (i.e. trying to move 3600 iron/m)
480 god damn residue
throughput?
one train, four freight cars. split it evenly across all four frieght platforms. If you need more throughput, add a second train
Finally phase 1
what's your belt speed?
is there like a resource/m number for freight cars or is that just to simplify it?
480 at the moment, but I'll be upgrading soon
it depends on stack size and return time for the train
that is a simplification.
if you want the hard math the wiki has your back
you can usually depend on 1 belt per car, but that changes with mk6 belts
The actual in-game throughput of a Freight Platform can be calculated if one wishes to be that precise. The most important variable in this determination is how long it takes a train to do a complete round trip, called Round-trip Duration (RtD). This is measured between the first and last departure...
thank you
Quick question, cobalt
OH MY GOD IF I PRESS Q I CAN MAKE MORE THINGS
Is making 900 m cubes of rocket fuel a minute good
😂
Progress!
Now I can make miners
We talked about nuclear pre beacon removal, and at the time the spire coast delta was the spot to do it
That still true?
still fairly true, they've removed a few nodes so you have to bring a little in but it's very convenient to make uranium rods.
just drone them to the ocean to burn after
although the mk6 belts means more options open up as pure nodes output more now
why did no one tell me u can have more than 1 hotbar
alt plus scroll wheel for ten ^_^
yeah well ur telling me after i discovered it
i genuinely thought that 1 beside the hotbar was a level or something
is there a way to put items with colors in the hotbar? like 2 concrete foundations but for different colors
I know you can but I rarely use it
thanks mr 🐌
not sure. but you can put color swashes
ooooooo
for jetpack fuel do u gotta have it in inventory or can it be in dimensional depot?
ive never used a jetpack but my wisdom says inventory is a must
gotta be in inventory
dang alright
that being said it will switch to any fuel in your inventory when your prefered runs dry.
yeah ik that
did u really know that tho?
As @rough shore has expressed somethings allude attention. Just sharing info that is relavent
I like having a hot bar for fluids and a Hotbar for trains
how do you"activate" the somersloop
You need to research a thing in your MAM to be able to use them in machines, if that's what you mean
yes?
alr nice
not hard to figure out
I CAN use it but uh I put in a yellow powerslug and now i got 2 instead of 4.
Ah, the first cycle through, the machine will use the pre-slooped settings
thats how somers and sloops and slugs work
The next one you send through should double properly
I SHOULDVE knew that.
is there a discord where i can justt chill with othrs while playing statisfacory
ok im not very smart ive read that i got 4 instead 2
It's basically because the production cycle has technically already started, so it uses the "previous" settings. You can see the same thing with clock settings and such; your changes don't actually apply until the next cycle
you research it in the MaM after you do enough research you can || place them into machines to double output at teh cost of power for no additional resources, or make a Alien Power Augementor which gives you 500MW of power plus 10% of your grid as a bonus||
What am I meant to do while I wait for smart platings to finish
explore, build more factories, research the MAM
explore, build more
btw, if you hold E while building an object it'll bring up a radial menu of similar objects
really compreses your hotbars
that ik but i just forget everytime and instead press e until i get it and then press one more e by accident and have to redo the loop
you can also right click within the menu to swap textures if the objects have dif skins
that i didnt know
thanks for the additional useful and brilliant knowledge CobaltOfDoom-Talk Circles To me
More implies I've built stuff
Using multiple hot bars helps a ton on gamepad, as the build menu is a little clunky on gamepad
sure does. it is a automation game
@long patio (re: #screenshots message ) - That's an April 1 easter egg. That's a creature from Sanctum, one of CSS's earlier games
its called a walker no?
You'll likely notice a few other things like that if you're playing on a session started while your system's clock is on April 1
(I believe you can turn that stuff off with the "disable seasonal events" setting from the game's main menu, if you don't want 'em there)
A fuse just blew what do I do
fix it.
probably build more power
How do I fix it
there's a big lever if you press e on a power pole or generator. if that doesn't work do what cobalt said
what's your power source right now?
The hub
ok either you went over your power limit or you ran out of biofuel
That happens when your machines require more power than your generators are generating. That's generally either due to overbuilding, or if on biomass, because one of your bio burners ran out of fuel
It is empty
flick on a power pole
lol, it's midnight where I am so didn't even notice, thanks for the heads up
better get more 😉
turn leaves to bio mass, turn biomass to solid biomass, it'll burn longer
I havent unlocked solid biomass yet
yeah no problem cuz ive obviously done all the work of telling u what it is
get more leaves then 🙂
Ill just cope without power for a while
gotta get chainsaws asap
go and punch like... 10,000 leaves. Sprint and hold E. Will take a few minutes but you'll have enough power to get past the phase
you'll regret not automating things
I want to automate its just expensive
Wood lasts longer than leaves, btw. Can also process alien remains into a lot of biomass
But yeah, it helps to prioritize unlocking the chainsaw/soild-biomass
it's just leaves and wood
Soild Biomass gives you the best "bang for your buck" for power. Though if you don't have Solid yet, you can still make things last longer by processing into just plain ol' Biomass before burning it
I'm mining iron though
have you unlocked powered miners?
I mean hand forge a few things, but power a powered miner after
Once I can afford it
use more biomass burners the ones on the hub arent enough
ok wait are we talking resource epensive or power expensive
woaaaah u can color belts
I finally made a 4x4 belt blueprint I'm going to bring every ore node on the map to one spot whats the best place to make a factory
If you insist on doing that, the location really doesn't matter; you'll have a ton of logistics no matter where you go. Just pick somewhere nice that you'd like to build in
- your computer will catch fire before you can process them all
- if you're moving everything anyway, build where ever you want
Though fair warning: your plans are a lot more difficult/impractical than you might think
I think ive said this to you B4, but NOT doing that is ideal.
If you insist on it i suggest near water, oil, and nitrogen so you dont need to ship as much fluids, The spire coast fits this
also, 3. there's basically never any 'best' in this game unless you're really specific what qualities you're looking for
Flat/easy to build land is my main critera if I'm shipping everything.
i feel like the best is only if it fits a design ur visioning other than just pick space major space
like humungous gigantic space
you can build vertically in multiple floors - infinite flat space everywhere
The coast far left of the map with the beach and stuff?
And you haven't said that before.
spire coast is the north coast that is not the desert.
westr coast has all these options and so does the Blue Crater (south east corner of map)
Yeah I'm currently near the West coast and I think it wouldn't be terrible to just extend my current base upward and outward.
im feeling kinda stupid, but how tf do you pull up the to do list when its not appearing
how much power hypertubes use
build one and find out?
you just need the entrances, so just 10mw
thanks im trying to see whats hogging all my power lol
lol, whatve you got running?
can i disable snapping totally? Like, if place a foundation on another foundation, and hold CTRL, i get a smaller snap grid. But can i make it not snap at all as if i placed it on terrain?
i remember when i only needed that little power
it might just last me through phase 2
everything i have rn, if it were running would all need abt 5k
its steady at abt 2k atm
im making about 3.5k
a lot rn, iron plates, iron rods, screws, copper rotors, quickwire, coppeer sheets, wire, cable, stitched iron plates, steel beams and pipes
or snap to belts, i cant even snap stuff to belts
mergers and splitters snap to belts, im not sure what else does tho
I'd brace yourself to probably 5x that at minimum over phase 2 unless you're willing to keep your production of stuff pretty low
they cant be placed on most "curved" belts tho, even if i could snap foundations to them
which i cant
i wish we could do roads the same way we do belts, with curves. its impossible to place good looking foundations as roads on curved surfaces
fiscit disapproves, you must work at max efficiency
Some frequently-linked-to videos about building curves, btw. You can actually get quite good results in vanilla:

Why does stage 2 require so many more materials
I have some bad news for you about Phase 3 + 4 + 5. :)
If you had an automated production line for Smart Plating from the first phase, btw, then you can just let that continue to run while you go through the rest of the Phase 2 stuff
But 950 more smart platings it cant get any worse right
It'll be done with the 1000 Smart Plate goal long before you're done with everything else in the phase
you have no idea
I have it completely automated other than making it
Again: I have some bad news for you. :)
So yeah, just let that run. It'll be done with 1000 of them long before you've got everything else up and running
All I need to do is automate it
I'd recommend getting elevator stuff automated and leaving it running even if you're not actively using it. Worst case you can sink it for points but otherwise you'll have a container of it ready when you need it
many Phase parts are needed to build future phase parts. Automation helps ^_^
I want to automate its just expensive
Even just getting a trickle of it coming in is going to help a lot. Doesn't have to be some crazy number right away
The only hard part is concrete
what you think is expensive will shift overtime, same thing for distance and scale. As you gain knowledge and get comfortable with the game it gets easier
yeah you get more tools to deal with the big numbers and distance and whatever other challenges as you explore/unlock stuff
Should I automate iron or concrete first
You'll want both automated early. I'm not sure there's a huge difference in which order you do them though
concrete is the simpler build of the two
it aint too hard for concrete, you just need a miner, constructor and some form of storage
(besides power ofc)
So I have to automate iron first because concrete is way too expensive
Man I just found out about auto connect blueprints. AFTER I built my whole rail line to the NW corner from the grasslands. Yep. That's how it goes. Coulda made a nice railway and not a snake. Haha.
but snakes are good in grass
It's in the water mostly:(
get that Ghibli vibe
what's the max four cars can handle? I decided to keep it simple for now x.x
with mk6 belts they can input/output 1200/min minimum
Sure taking my time here. Would hate to see my hrs and I haven't even made one part for phase 4. But am messing around exploring too for hard drives etc. Map opening and so on. Sure seems like a big map.
really it depends on belts used and distance
it is a big map just shy of 50km squared
I overdid the train to see what everyone was talking about(The 4 car thing) and am clueless as to why that is a thing. I have big trains and they work good.
🇫 Holy
I'm also trying to figure out how to spread the load out because I would rather have multiple train stations than a bunch of long iron lines all running to the same station but if a car can definitely handle 2 480 belts I can work around that number
this is mostly confined to the dune desert, so distance (hopefully) shouldn't be an issue
DAMMIT! Devs got me. I totally forgot about the date. #screenshots message
A single freight car cannot handle a full 2x-max-belt-speed throughput, btw, since the station pauses material flow for 27sec or so while docking
You can definitely approach 2x-max-belt-speed, but how close you can get relies on round-trip times and such
Though obviously if you need 2x-max-belt-speed throughput you can just add another freight car/platform. :)
This automation is faster than I could have ever imagined
is there a way to disable it?
The throughput you can get depends on two factors, basically: round-trip-time for the route, and the stack size of the item itself. What I tend to do is just set up a route with whatever number of cars "feels" right, and then I watch it for a cycle or two. So long as the sending station is reliably getting empied out, I've sized it properly. If not, then I may need to add another car
"Disable seasonal events" from the main menu settings (has to be main menu, can't do it in-game)
thanks. They are escaping containment now that they are big
Oh heh, oops!
ngl. It got me good. I was immersed in building the initial multi-factory and did not expect to come face to face with that.
as long as it works it's a nice railway 😄
@void gorge you DID A RAID WITH Verified Accounts Only Chat 🙁
@void gorge WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what came out in the new exp patch?
check tomorrows date
1/4?
yup..... also known as April Fools
oh so no patch? 😭
I lose entire evenings exploring.
it will come today laater
I spent like 2 hours looking for resources, got lost found myself above where I was before. Confused.
or tmr its like 6pm for devs so they probbaly eating dinner
that makes sense. thank you
Somehow I have to make Steel.
oh no we actually dont eat dinner here in scandanavian countries
everyone just gets off work then walks around the city and drinks beer and smokes cigarettes
Sounds like me in my 20s.
Fr though. The eternal dilemma, do I take the Coal to Iron. Or the Iron to the Coal.
Or take both somewhere else.
i only moved here to denmark a little over a year ago but im shocked how many ppl smoke cigs
and how young they start. and snus, people throw their snus and cigarette butts on the floor and its so sad to see, so much plastic just being thrown everywhere
I thought cigarettes were paper
the filters use plastic
i just discovered the cyber wagon lmao
if I play on experimental and then new version comes out, am I going to have same worlds?
Yes -- you can always take a save created in an "older" version and load it in a "newer" one. Once v1.2 gets released into Public, your saves in Experimental will still work
when I make purple power shards with a somersloop it's not actually doubling them
What you can't do is take a save from Experimental and bring it back to the current Public, since that'd be going "backwards" in versions
you should be getting 10 from 1 purple
how many do you get
the first time you make smth it doesnt apply the sloop also, its only on the next one
its annoying but nothing you can rlly do ab it 🙁
If you're really anxious to maximize your slug production, you can set the recipe to something other than slug processing for that first "cycle" and then once you've produced one of Something Else, switch the recipe back to slugs
That way you don't "miss" the first one like that
But really there's so many slugs on the map it's not really worth worrying about. :D
I wanna save as many as possible
i tried doing that so many times and it never worked, i just have 3 constructors specifically for making shards now
never get moved or anything so its not reset
that worked, tysm ^-^
Heh, I admit I've never actually even tried that myself. Not worth the bother -- even without slooping there's more than enough slugs on the map to get me the shards I want
And you can automate shard production in the lategame anyway, so eh
I'm not gonna miss "wasting" a single shard in the early game. :D
They don't anymore; their gift pool was updated in v1.0
no update today for experimental?
Oh noes.
there will be
So Slugs are finite in 1.1
time?
Or they don't give me nuclear waste xD
no clue, whenever they push it. more bug fixes thats all
and the seasonal event is already live
Doggos will still give you slugs. They just don't give you nuclear waste anymore
?
how to get those?
Excellent. I need slugs
have seasonal event turned on (it is by default) and play. you'll see them
is it at experimental 1.2 branch?
asfar as i know, I dont play 1.2
how come there's no official info about such event? oO
its april fools thats why
not April 1st here
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/April_Fools'_Day <- It honestly hasn't ever really changed much. Kind of Old News™ at this point (though obviously there's plenty of folks who have never known about it). :)
the world spins and trains keep running.
@thin ember
this is the real Annoucment today ^_^
depends on the theme. if you are going for Tentacle monster you nailed it
nope unfortunately its the only way
How could it possibly be done any better than that
Any advice on Steel Production before I yolo spaghetti 😄
This is giving me ick xD. So well done.
Like my brain doesn't like the organic nature 😄
make a lot of steel
so you dont have to go back and spaghettify whenever you need more production
If you do want to math it out, calculate round trip time, add roughly 1 minute total, multiply the number of minutes with how much you consumers are using, divide this large number with the number of cars, lastly, add a car or two extra
So unlike a starter where I focus on what I want at the end, this is more like, make a big Steel Plant that's extensible.
And worry later xD
Extensible designs are overrated :p
I'd say so
Or on top.
Excellent now to find Iron Ore.
It's usually easier to just build a new factory if you need more, with extendable designs you have more work by way of fitting the new in with the old
But I suppose it depends on how you build, if you are more production than design minded and not bothered by uneven rows of machines, it's totally fine
But even then, I think it's easier to build a new factory instead
Just finished my oils refinery set up. It got all recipes for fuel.
For me it kinda depends on if I'm adding new items or just upping production.
Like usually I'll just make a design that can scale up production as I unlock more miners and such. But I won't start adding production for new items and space elevator parts and such as I progress
Sometimes I like having Production in place for expansing. I tend to enjoy centralising facilities.
Especially if the place feels chill and pretty.
Amen
I always have my factory’s close by
Like I'm in the Rocky Desert and I'm itching to build a power plant at the top of the waterfall next to the Coal.
Can you disable inventory loss on death without disabling achievements?
yes
I'm going to be converting my biomass burner power plant to a rocket fuel power plant, any suggestions to make it look cool?
I now use the respawn button and a hyper tube cannon for transport around the map
Pulse nobelisks are useful for getting back, combined with the jetpack
Biomass to rocket fuel?? I can’t build anything that looks good but using reference images could help?
lol yeah. Respawn faster though
Everything Pink.
Ooh I like that Idea
you spelt "peak" wrong
lol
I think they meant to say pink
pink = peak. thats the joke
No no no, you have to switch it around
Joke went right over bros head
as you can tell by my discord avatar/icon I am the core example of toxic masculinity.
Mmm hmm
I mostly use pink with quartz related stuff #design-and-architecture message & #design-and-architecture message , not everything but plenty enough 🙂
aaaaa trynna deal with the math involved in aluminum aaaaa, gotta get the numbers sitting pretty
im a giant helmet pink pioneer
Fun times. How bad is aluminum? I haven’t got that far before
its alright
just trying to figure out how to make up these refineries so i can get pretty numbers to work with
keep in mind not only can you feed the water byprodcut back into the system, but you can use it to make silica or copper ingots
im trynna make two wet concrete factories here to deal with the water, just wanna get the pipes in a way that lets me do that cleanly without leftovers
i planned out where all the piping would go before construction this helpd
Centralizing I can understand to some degree, but leaving stuff open and unfinished would drive me even more crazy than I already am, if thats even possible
Like I have centralized some things like aluminum and circuit boards, but those are still pre-planned finished units in and of themselves
#screenshots message im done
Like the building process for me is like, the machines and conveyors and stuff is a paragraph of text, but if I don't wrap it in something, it's like the punctuation is missing and its all wobbly
Neat, I like the lighting
umm i just built a (relatively) large factory but im still only making 8 smartplates a minute, when i need 1000. do i just wait 2 hours for it to produce or what?
8 is a decent chunk per minute
ya, go explore. there is 118 harddrives to find, alien artifacts and the MaM needs research
Waiting for your production lines to finish the quantities required by the Elevator is, indeed, often the case. :)
is it cheating to use an interactie map
Yeah, just go and keep busy :p
I personally tend to shoot for about a 2-hour completion, though for Smart Plates in Phase 2 I just make use of whatever I built for Phase 1. By the time I'm finished up with all the other Phase 2 stuff, that original line will have finished the 1k quantity long ago
I'm sure there are some purists out there that prefer having radar towers everywhere but fr, who cares, I use the map, it's convenient, go nuts
Its a sandbox game. do Whatever you are comfortable with. You dont need me to tell you whats right or wrong. go have fun
yeah fair idk why im asking you lol
Smart Plating is generally the first of the Phase 2 requirements I've got completed, since it's technically already set up from the instant I enter the new phase
Might take a bit, but there's a lot to do in phase 2
3 tabs always open in my browser - wiki, map, and tools
Unless you build on the ground. That's always wrong.
The more important question is: who would care even if it was?
no dirt factories can look cool too
(I mean, if the answer is you, then yeah, I suppose you'd have to decide how you feel about it. :D)
See how easy it is to be wrong??
lmao
I still have a constructor sitting on the sand, after 1400 hours haha.
For myself I actually do kind of consider external tools like SCIM + sftools + such to be "cheating," but I also DGAF if I cheat on my singleplayer games, so eh. :P
Although that honestly is partially why I actually use my own bespoke solvers rather than sftools most of the time. Feels less like "cheating" to me if it's a thing I wrote myself
(I mean, that plus I get a visceral enjoyment out of that kind of recreational coding, to the extent that's often more fun that even playing the game (depending on mood), so there's that too)
Added a "randomize recipes" feature to my own solver which I'm still rather considering using for my next playthrough (presumably in v1.2); should be a good time there. :D
lowkey what i did was i let it do its thing while i built my new factory
a good way to think about it is like, you wouldn't allow a run that used the interactive map on speedrun.com, but who cares if some guy shows off their factory they made with the help of SCIM
Did you load it up with somersloops?
Yes, we must be careful not to anger the competitive satisfactory scene
I think speedrunners probably don't even need anything like that
Heh, not sure I agree with the first half, honestly -- I don't think there's any stigma against external references in speedrunning. By the time speedrunners are in WR-attempt territory they've probably internalized a lot (or everything) but I'm sure speedrunners often have references taped up or on a second monitor or whatever while doing runs
i think it would probably be against the rules on most speedrun boards but honestly i'm not sure. i wasn't saying that i would care for the record
Even though I sort of consider stuff like SCIM to be "cheating" it's definitely not in the same category of "cheating" as anything that actually directly affects the game
Oh sure, I'm just talking in the abstract too. :D
yea :D
What if they wrote info gained from the map down on a piece of paper? Or what if they figured it out on their own and used that piece of paper? Is there a difference?
uh idk
Is writing stuff down cheating?
i wasn't making an argument for why speedrunners shouldn't use maps lol
But my own impression is that speedrunning in general wouldn't be at all opposed to using external tools for "lookups" and such. If you're not affecting the game itself I expect it'd be fair game
Real rabbit hole here
Yeah, lots of real fine lines there
i was just saying it probably wouldn't be allowed, i don't really know
yeah
i wonder if there ARE satisfactory speedruns though
oh there is
thats so funny that the game tells you that youve been playing for too long
(And, importantly for speedrunning in particular, it'd be something that's literally impossible to police anyway, even if the speedrunning community cared. How in the world could you even know if someone had a browser open on the next monitor over)
The lone Concrete maker.
In the vast desert.
i can't imagine speedrunning satisfactory
Well, suppose only if it's live, like GDQ
Any percent speed run record is 11/min 32/sec
The lone slug processor.
okay, you know what, I have an idea to make this factory run, time to do 2% effort math and underclock these refineries
Hey (hope this is the right channel), is there any mod that lets me build like a control room where I can monitor all my constructions and power sources?
Learn all about modding and join the community here!
<3 @ornate saffron
Ty 🙂
how tf
you need to unlock so much stuff from thje milestones, what abt the spaceship thing timer
tis like 25 mins at the end of the game
any% means glitches are allowed
idk i just read the chart on speedrun.com lol. There is a video attachted
there are glitches?!??!?!
of course?
oooohhh yeah there's glitches
you can glitch under the map of course there is glitches lmao
how what
hypertubes or trains
ohhh
you can also get lots of resources through blueprints.
bruh
the satisfactory rabbit hole is real
mercer sphere duplication
first time ive ever had to whip out a notepad for this game
any item really
yeah but with non-renewable finite resources like mercer sphere or somersloops, can come in pretty nice
how to duplicate items asking for scientific research purposes so i can avoid it
honestly just enable creative mode
if anyone wanna tell me in dms
I told you in public
i believe you just put something in a storage container in a blueprint
that isn't a solution
huh, and that just duplicates it?
is there a way to remove items from dimensional depot list?
uh yes double click
or drag them
ive never tried it out tbh with you but im pretty sure it's something as simple as that from what i remember
thank you underclocking for making my life so much easier with this aluminium factory
ok from what i searched up it seems to be a bit more complicated than this nvm
clocking is the games bread and butter
now that i know sloppy alumina and electrode scrap have a lowest common multiple of water production to consumpion has made this SOOOOO much easier
its not hard by anymeans. But harder then using Advanced game settings or SCIM
285 heatsink/min factory begins...
how could you possibly need that many..
He brings the heat. The game brings the sink
cooling system, turbo motors, plutonium rods
5090's for AI data centers
I tried placing automated gates and offsetting them and they stayed open permanently
I thought they squashed that, there have been bugs with the gates for a little while now
Ah the good old days when you didn't have to cheat to duplicate spheres/sloops/slugs and the devs did it for you, not once, but twice
If I was going to redo all my factories. Where on the map is a good spot. (That has the most stuff like oil, copper, water and coal, iron etc)
Why do you want to do that
There isn't really a single spot with all the resources
Swamp has a lot of those close by
why redo?
yet...
Is it fine to buy parts with the AWESOME shop, or is this a trap? Will tickets become so expensive lategame that I can't afford anything?
satisfactory calculator has a map that displays all the nodes, as well as slugs/sloops/etc. I'm currently setting up my huge factory for space elevator in the dune desert. I also have a turbofuel plant in crater lake and want to build my nuclear plant in the swamp
Ah, quite
I need a lot of stuff and my base location is running out of space
There is a cap on ticket cost, if you're buying stuff just to finish milestones I dont think that's all that costly
Basically you'll be OK as long as you don't overdo it
Ah cool, thanks. 🙂 I'm sinking all of my production lines with smart splitters.
I bought some stuff to finish phase 4 milestones so I could use the things they unlock to actually produce the items
Just spread your wings, you don't necessarily need to cram everything into one location
The game naturally pushes you to expand
Ditch the idea of a "base"
The whole map is your base
The answer might depend on whether or not you're interested in buying the "trophies" from the shop.
Those serve no gameplay purpose, but some folks want to get them all. If you do want to get them, you'll thank your Past Self for not buying "parts" from the shop
What's a couple hundred coupons here and there :p
It's true that there is a cap on coupon cost, but that cap is quite high. If you want to go for all trophies from the shop you may find it's gonna take you a long time
If you don't care about trophies, though, go for it -- it's not hard to buy out the shop otherwise and still get coupons pretty cheaply
Just play the same save for 1000+ hours and that problem goes away on its own
100/min BWD would also do it
You could leave your existing factories as they are and just build the new stuff elsewhere, btw. No need to tear anything down unless you really want to
It'll be easier to build new factories if your old ones are still running and producing construction material for you, too
I maxed on Runescape, so I can max this game too. I don't care if it takes the next decade of my life
you build up then
did you get sailing to 99 too?
No, I quit years ago lol
Coal checked.
Iron and copper checked. Oil stuff I can train around like im now
Nitro fine
Limestone fine
Is there anything I’m missing?
A lot of people have this overwhelming urge to build everything in a single location and as though its a 2d game.
you have 2km of airspace before the deathbox and the map is 47.1 km2
caterium, Sulfur
if i dont get diluted packaged fuel soon i'm going to kill somebody
Bauxite, sam, Uranium, water
when you are behind on harddrive scanning its a bummer trying to find the one recipe you want
act like u dont want it
works with cats
backfires when ur allergic
I am, I still put my stupid face in there stomachs
sneeze
Sulfur and cat good and checked out. Water is by oil and nearby to coal. Uranium is by the coal. Baxuite kinda far but I can train that in
Has anyone ever experienced.....train station contamination? Like, I have a train station with 2 platforms of coal, and 2 platforms of copper. They are not sushi'd whatsoever. For some reason, very rarely, at the destination factory copper ore has been mingled with the coal line and the factory grinds to a halt.
has anyone killed the big blue thing that flys about
I don’t think I’m missing anything else
no go pet it instead'
it doesnt have a hurt box. Flying this is friend. Give head pats
This should only be possible if something is lined up (freight platform/wagon) wrong or you are combining them somewhere with a merger
Worth mentioning that the train station serves several trains
Time to go over everything then, I guarantee you that there's an error somewhere
I "fixed" it with making sure that the train only picks up coal, and the other only picks up copper
There is no error. And this has happened to me before. And I fixed it in the same way. Reanimated SAM got mingled in a bauxite line (again, a mixed station)
Multiple platforms in a single station can't interact with each other in any way afaik
Not on their own anyway
that is a setup issue, either you're loading copper at a terminal where coal is or vice versa
I think setting the train to load and unload specific items is always a good idea regardless
I know, they should not, but it has happened to me on several occasions (i have a VERY large factory, and have had to raise object limit quite a bit)
I could just make alots of mini factory’s. Train across the map back to my “main” base location HMMM
If it's a large system, it may help to also have smart splitters act as a filter where you're offloading
Better safe than sorry
i've a save with around 80 stations and 150-ish trains. and i've never ever seen any co mingling of resources.
I mean it's fixed, but it's just weird
Yeah 100+ trains here and running out of resources that aren't iron/limestone...probably user error then
like if i want two trains to drop off items from two sources. i build the stations and trains with it in mine. like pickup point 1 is a station with two terminals, and train is engine+cars. then pickup point 2 is a station with two spaces then two terminals and the train is 3 engines and 2 cars. and they both unload at a station that got 4 terminals
But if what you say fixes it I guess not
Yeah that's how I do it
The coal was never outputted at the pasta plant, only the copper at the time crystal plant
not to take out items but remove that listing entirely
no
I'm about to give up on this save anyway because I can't reach 100 BWD/60 AI/60 Biochemical sculptor without majorly re-factoring my factory :(
ohh, then no sadly
i would love to get rid of some things on there lol
you can just pin the things you might actually wanna manually take out, like nobbies, sloops, gas filters etc
and they'll be at the top, theres not really any reason to take out other materials since they get auto used when building
is there any way to get rid of coal gen smoke
or am i stuck with smoke coming through my floor
kind of
play with high graphic settings and place a thick foundation above
lower graphic settings does make the smoke just go thru
does a train being opposite to the direction of where its going count as the 4/1 ratio of locomotives and freight cars
yes
k thx
Hm, the question could be taken a few ways... In terms of acceleration power, I believe it's only the locomotives facing in the direction of travel which produce forward thrust, so "backwards" facing locomotives would be dead weight
A locomotive doesn't weigh the exact same amount as a freight car (and freight cars weigh more when they're filled with stuff), so it's not really exact
the only downside is the weight affecting climb speed on an incline
4:1 is more of a guideline anyway, though. If your trains aren't accelerating fast enough (or are having trouble with hills), just add another locomotive
You can get away with a lot more freight cars for the same amount of locomotives if your rail is perfectly flat (and you don't mind a slower start), etc
You can't get rid of the smoke, but you can get rid of the floor
didnt smoke get blocked by floors at some point, it would go sideways instead
or was that only from smelters..
Any man that stays behind, is left behind
Oh wait, wrong guideline
Not that I've ever seen, smoke is just some basic 2d sprites going wobbly
i was today years old when i found out ADA yells at you if you spam reasearch tasks
any way to fix machines becoming invis on joining a 1.2 server
I see a lot of people exactly as old as you here every day, it's a pretty wild coincidence, anyway, happy birthday
God I wish we had ladder access holes like we have conveyor holes. It'd be nice for enclosed vertical systems to have access to them when I need to
Without leaving a huge hole in the floor of it
fill 3/4 of the hole with catwalks
or fill more of the hole with beams
I have nowhere to hide the clipping. I made glass containment boxes for my machines, and anything else outside the box will show. The beams is a good idea tho
I'll look into that
With asphalt floors to hide clipping and beams, that may just work 😮
it's always beams...
what ammo do people prefer
Turbo rifle and cluster bombs.
turbo? isnt that storm trooper accuracy?
Only if you hold down the trigger. It gets faster and crazier the longer you fire. The first 5 or 6 are perfectly accurate
You can fire in ~5 shot bursts and be accurate
Pop the trigger to be accurate, hold it for panic mode.
I like homing ammo because I can jetpack and spin in a giant circle
do we prefer the new one #screenshots
I go turbo over homing for ease of production.
is there a way to make it so i can keep some stuff running if my fuses blow?
like a one-way power pole or sum
Priority power switches perhaps
Beams drawn into curves like old LineFlyer tech for ramps
is turbo fuel the best for power? is it worth the hassle?
If you set up a temporary production and feed it with one industrial container worth of high speed connectors, that makes 96 stacks of homing ammo (2 industrial containers) - that's more than you could probably reasonably use in a single playthrough
If you want lots of power for little effort, rocket fuel is a much better return on your time
If you just hold out until you unlock blenders
I just want to ask if the oil to fuel/polymer resin recipe is more useful than the oil to heavy oil residue recipe or not?
I'm gonna do it
I'm gonna make my first blueprint
200 hours in
👍 i just built a large rubber and plastic plant but i don’t think 4gw is gonna beable to supply it and give headroom for another power plant so i might have to do that first https://discord.com/channels/370472939054956546/1487194888670941184
cooling device alt my beloved
HOR starts to shine once you also have diluted packaged fuel or regular diluted fuel
What's your max consumption? Do you have machines going idle sometimes and then waking up again?
should i just continue with normal recipe without water for rubber and plastic?
max cons 1093.5mw
capacity and production 1,200mw
If you're just starting out, the normal recipes are fine
can somebody explain load balancers for me? i currently have like 8 mk6 belts that output like 934 of smth, and i wanna basically just minimize the belt amount to the most necessary so all belts cover the most possible which would be 1200, is that what load balancers are for? or can anyone give me a simpel solutions without having to do too much math
Once you have blenders it makes more sense to use the recycling loop setup
blenders don't change much tbh
why are you blue
why not
and yes i know that i would need 6.2 belts, but i don't know how i would connect that ingame
Suppose you could do it with the packaged version, just be a bit more annoying
blue moulded
turns out i just had to reset the breakers at the main part of my base instead of at the coal generators
Its at the beginning of this world (like my fourth world now) but can't choose between those 2 recipes
i have no clue why that was the issue but its fixed so i dont care
spend a billion years making a factory for something using a specific alt
check mam and see hard drive i forgot about
get better alt
hunt for recipes before planning a factory
when do i get rubber because i need it to open this pod
only very slightly. Basically the extra "annoyance" comes from having to:
- make one blueprint
- automate canisters into depot
so use the water recipe in mid/lategame?
after that, it's practically the same
phase 3
its like the first tier petroleum power
Rocket fuel is a gas, right? I can't remember
yeah
I thought so, thank you
i think you can find rubber at other drop pods though in the loot that it drops
Quartz crystals are worth more per unit
But silica is slightly better per unit of raw quartz
15 raw quartz can make 25 silica (worth 500 points) or 9 quartz crystal (worth 450 points)
Using only the base recipes of course
so if i have cheap silica i should do that?
every once in a blue moon I'll wan to build something and it won't, showing an '!' icon with a swirly blue circle around it. if I save and reload, then it goes away. Anyone know what's going on here?
The game is stuck thinking you're pressing alt and pinging
ahh, ty
whats priority merger do
I want to say you can hold alt while clicking and make it fix itself? There's some trick
is it like an overflow gate in reverse?
Haven't run the math but seems reasonable. Though concrete is also quite good for early tickets
"My sink was forced to eat 16 tonnes of concrete 😔"
should i just go exploring and hunting for hard drives
i just got the hard drive scanner
It allows you to prioritize while belt a merger takes from more commonly. It's generally much more niche than smart splitters
kinda what it says. If you have goods A and B going into a regular merger, the game will alternate between them - one A, then one B, then one A, then ... Priority merger let's you give one side, say A, the priority - then B's will only go through if there is nothing on the A line.
wait whats somersloop even used for
what about you play the game and figure it out?
that sounds convenient but i dont know what i'd use that for icl
Cool things
should i hunt for that too
it's pretty niche. I've never wound up needing it.
Alien artifacts are so fun. I rarely have to hunt for them though - you'll find plenty just scrounging around for HDDs
priority merger and programmable (specifically) splitters are generally pretty niche
im broke on mercer spheres 😔
mercer sphere economy dried up RIP
I've only found myself using programmable splitters once, and I could accomplish pm the same thing with a smart one lol
Yeah, Programmables are just a space-saver for the pioneer who's invested heavily in sushi
is the radar just a longer range object scanner?
Anything you can do with a Programmable you can accomplish with smart+mergers
But it's nice to save space, if you've got a lot of item sorting going on. :)
sushi belt is the one and only time I kicked someone from the server /jk
Plus they look neat, of course!
You gathered and used all 298? Or just ran out of spheres on hand?
i got all the ones in my general area and i have to go out really far to find more
Radar towers will tell you how many are in its range.
The radar tower will persistently show you the locations of all resource nodes within its range, and give you counts of things like spheres+sloops and such that can be found in the area
After your first few spheres A.D.A. tells you to submit a brain damage compensation package but it's unclear who to submit it to
is earth like destroyed or something cause the ficsit hq NEVER responds to my complaints
Your resource scanner technically has a longer range than radar towers, since it'll show you the three nearest "pings" regardless of how far away they are, whereas radar towers have a set radius
don't sleep on radar towers though, very useful.
should i be bringing power lines with me wherever i go
ive been using them to zipline back and forth but like is there any reason other than tht
Would FICSIT be so heavily invested in the ||Save the day|| project if there was no one to save? (phase 2 spoilers I think)
I always figure I'll probably want some power over in that corner of the map anyway, eventually, so I may as well drag power along with me. :D
In the end it's up to you though
Don’t forget you can always mark stuff on the map if you wanna find it later
But yeah, ziplining is a pretty great transit method for much of the game
do you guys remember the days before power towers... just huge jagged strings of powerlines spiderwebbing across the map?
should i save hard drives for when i unlock later game resources so i can get alts for those instead of "iron wires"
man this game would be perfect if my blueprints werent weirdly stuck in each session. don't the devs know we want the blueprints to be free and not have to do weird file manipulation or keep making the same BPs just because we are on a new server?
I have just recently discovered that they can be very handy for feedback loops
for what
Don't take me back there, those were dark times
It’s intended to just make new blueprints, buddy
Your pool of available recipes gets bigger and bigger as you unlock more and more stuff; I personally like to "keep up" with my hard drive research, more or less, so that when I unlock a new milestone, my next hard drive scans are likely to be recipes for the newly-unlocked tier
that is just so lame...
i kinda ran out of good alts for my stage i think cause im more interested in the computers and stuff i find around crash sites than the actual hard drives
whatever reason they came up with not to follow factorio's example of how to handle blueprints, it's gotta be lameeeee
should one automate motors and stators at tier 4 ?
An example: a sushi-fed high speed connector production with an oversupply of circuit boards that gets merged back into the feed before taking new ones from outside of the system, basically prioritises the boards already in the system (note, image is out of date, silica and quickwire are merged before they enter the loop) #1487064678642487296 message
I mean, that reason is almost certainly just "we're making our own game, and this is how we want to make it"
the game is completely different from Factorio. It doesn't scale as much, and the feeling is supposed to be more minecraft-y, where you place everything block by block
The only DNA Satisfactory shares with Factorio is "make factory"
I mean, plus mutual admiration between the dev teams. :D
this is an argument not to have blueprints at all, not to make them transfer poorly
we also don't have any construction bots or anything, and pasting a whole factory instantly is kinda... not fun™
You're free to play the game without blueprints if you like. :D
this is not even what im talking about
I do think that it'd be nice for there to be a way to "natively" transfer blueprints between saves, though, if only for console players. PC folks can just copy some files, ezpz.
not really. Blueprints for small sections are very useful. And the puzzle is in making them fit into each other
Perhaps that's on a TODO somewhere at CSS HQ. :)
I've always just made fresh blueprints for each playthrough, though
it's merely a matter of being very inconvenienced when i want to move my blueprints around
That way I'm not bound to my past decisions, etc
it can be done, but they dont support it in a proper way
i kinda got used to this cause i play a lot of modded minecraft with create where the schematics dont save across different packs
its really not that bad idk
Yeah, it doesn't bother me personally
Though I do think it'd be nice if console folks had a way of moving 'em around
i mean didn't the game only recently get console support
Yeah
glad at least there is one person here not glazing such a lame design decision
ah, I missed your previous msgs and was replying to "why blueprints are not like in Factorio", didn't see you were talking about transfering the BP files
honestly, I think it's good, as it incentivises more to make your own blueprints, though afaik there were technical reasons for this choice as well
we can do it, but why do they make us have to pull out the files and move them around? it makes the game feel half-finished
I mean, I do disagree that it's a "lame" decision
It's just How It Is -- as-built, blueprints aren't really intended to be moved save-to-save
why did nobody tell me hatchers could respawn...
i make my own blueprints, but i play on other servers. now my blueprints are gone. now i cant use my blueprints. see the problem?
Just 'cause I think it'd be nice for the game to get blueprint transferrance as a feature doesn't mean it's a "lame" decision
yeah, problem is that you expect to play in same way everywhere 😛
the game has the same challengen everywhere
can someone explain simpler how does radar tower work? does it need line of sight or not
not really (and definitely not with 1.2)
no line of sight
it's asinine that you think we should all have to make different blueprints every time
it just displays everything in X range
Nah, just place it down and provide power, then check your ingame map. It'll show you a bunch of stuff within its scanning radius (ignores Z-axis entirely)
otherwise underground shit would never be shown
for those that want to, yeah great go do it, but for those of us who dont we are getting stiffed
You can send Questions, Feedback, Suggestions, and Bug Reports
https://questions.satisfactorygame.com
<3 @white dawn
embrace different playstyle and have fun in different ways rather than spamming the same thing over and over in every save 🙂
^ well, if you want to suggest features and such to the devs, there's the site for it
what nobelisk does the most damage on detonation
And yeah, partially because the game's challenge is essentially the same with every playthrough, it really doesn't bother me to make new blueprints for each playthrough
i make new blueprints every playthrough... you do realize there is nothing stopping anyone from making new BPs just because they still have access to old ones?
this whole argument is lazy
'cause I'm generally trying to play in some way differently each time
If I just played the exact same way every single time I'd get bored. :)
i will start using something else, once i come up with something better
if you've come to complain, expect us to have our own opinions and voice them
if you've come to suggest change, you're in a wrong place
I mean, we're just talking about why it doesn't bother us. There's the questions site if you want to suggest things to the devs. Not sure what else you expect us to do. :)
why spend time recreating the same shit ive made 5x before
cos that's how poopin works.
why play in the same way if you can play in a different way

because thats the optimum for me
is there anything important in the red bamboo forest place cause its REALLY laggy when i try going there
until i find something better
because the game gives me the same challenges...
And if you do want to use the same blueprints, at least on PC it's a simple copy->paste.
obviously some things are going to be the same
then imo the playtrhough of "doing the same things again" is kinda pointless 🤷 but you do you
Well, anyway, gonna disengage now, 'cause I think you just want to vent/complain a bit. :) (Which is fine! Welcome to the internet, etc. 🥳 )
What is the belt setup people have a name for that starts with an S and is not a sink setup? Can't think of the name
As I say, if you want to actually give suggestions to the devs, you've got a link to the place where you can do it
Nuke
spaghett
Not that either 🤣 I already have too much of that 😅
i'm sure the devs have got this request 10000 times but they just wanna be 'different' and not officially support blueprint transfers
Sushi
if you're doing the same thing, the same way and without any change, then why do it at all. You've already had that experience. I wouldn't have much fun beating a game by doing literally the same thing as I did in my last playthrough
YES thank u
search the QA site instead of doing assumptions
and how many times have you seen someone complain of this exact issue?
yes, because complying with data protection regulations and silo'd platform controls is something that no other game studio has
like... three times since BPs came out
including this one
Neuron activated 🐒
musta missed some of em
I'm here quite often, so I don't really think it's many players bothered by this, no
I could really go for some AYCE sushi
Always.
I've seen a lot of questions about "How", but very rarely "why" or "this needs to be changed"
bizarre... you spend time making these blueprints. why would you want to just toss them?
sushi is always expensive, but it’s always good. Better to leave satisfied than to leave broke and hungry
A lot of us toss entire saves
would 17 electromagnetic control rods be hard to make once i unlock them or should i just sink these?
because of the size of BPs, they are usually designed to solve one specific case for that specific save (and most likely that specific factory/architecture)
They aren’t hard to make later, but they can also show up as hard drive unlocks, so aren’t bad to keep some around
so i should keep at least 1?
1 stack
i only have 17
I view BP's as custom assets for the world i use them in. Often for architecture not machines. If i copied them from world to world, Everything would look the same
Then save until you get 100
to get to the new stuff quicker
im sure youve played through the game a lot already
some have never gotten there
Lizard doggies can drop the electromagnetic rods, though. So not too hard to get more
that makes a lot of sense for architecture. for machines it's the opposite case
you can just... continue the save?
is having gigantic bridges in the sky a good way to explore
My architecture is generally always bad, so no point to copy a BP to a new save anyway. It’s a 5x5 cube, they aren’t hard to remake functionally.
not if its not my save
should ia utomate encased industrial beams
You use them for mk4 belts.
how much do mk4 belts transport
480 I think
Chainsaw to fungus is easiest. If it looks like it may not be a plant, its probably fungus.
oh my god i never thought of that
so THATS what those huge blue mushrooms are
does the lichen on cave walls count
Try it caves are generally i good source
Beware spiders
that's no more true, parachute is a full time equipment now (since update 6 maybe?)
does it make me move faster horizontally too like a real parachute
not really but you can cheese and climb cliffs and the likes
Those are mycelia which is used for fabric production
is there a way to resist radiation cause holy shit
im trying to search for recipes but ALL these crash sites are surrounded by radioactive mobs
So, moment of truth, i should eventually start seeing 285 heatsinks/min
Yes phase 4
#screenshots message slowly.....
guess i gotta let the feedback loops stabilise and monitor it from there
If you just want to teleport back to your hub, you could intentionally die (there's a "respawn" button in the menu which does that, I believe). Can switch your game settings to keep all inventory on death beforehand
but is there any way to leave myself a way back cause im like really far out and im not done here but my inventory is loaded with stuff i kinda need
OH WAIT WHAT IF I PUT DOWN A DIMENSIONAL DEPOT
AND PUT MY STUFF THERE
swim around the coast to avoid getting nommed on
im a genius yo
i got gassed out and died anyways
which rebar hurts mobs the most?
Either explosive or shatter
does explosive rebar break the rocks?
You need a hazmat suit and iodized filters
I have the filters already automated
Yes
is the explorer actually worth using
#screenshots message welp, cooling systems soon
Idk how your pc doesn't explode with all that glass
glass is performance intensive?
i didn’t think so
i know lights can be slightly
It is kinda yeah
never noticed that
What's your Gpu
4070S
4060ti
where can i see how long my powerlines are
satisfactory tools website probably
hmmmm how long do i wait before i decide "its not the manifolds, theres something actually messing with my throughput here"
the interactive map part where you upload your game file
If there are multiple blocks, you could compare them?
i just hope the feedback loops stabilise relatively quickly
i have 73km of powerlines
should i get automated speed wiring?
i think i need automatic wiring later too right
i dont have the high speed connectors yet
it’s quite easy so u may as well
automated speed wiring or rescan
i rescanned and got quickwire stators
100% worth it ngl
how to sleep
i am not sure but you will (probably) get every recipe by the end of the game anyway
close eyes
i just got copper rotors 🔥
load up my save: april 1 jumpscare
what does overclocking coal generators do? is it worth it
Not worth it
I'm into the "need to find crude oil" portion of the game. Well, I found it but goddamn I'll never get near it with all those spitters
i'm hosting with steam and everytime that one friend joins my game crashes
my other friends can join but this one guy crashes the game
100000% worth it, saves on build space, if you care about that. or allows you to expand your power grid without building another plant (provided you can supply the required coal/water)
worth it when you FIRST get to coal? eh, probs not
helpfull towards the end of coal phase though
everytime i join friends server the server crashes how can we fix this
PLEASE SOMEONE ANYONE
ah i know why my heatsinks aren't producing fully, damn you mk5 belts, youve made me forget once more
i'm gonna produce your heatskins fully
What does css do for the 1st
Load the game up or just go through #screenshots
People in other timezone have been posting them a lot.
Happens every year and we take a shot every time we see one on the QA site as a "bug"
So I hear that theres a calculator in the game, where is that exactly?
press N
doesnt work i keep doing so
close eyes...but longer
instructions unlear, am dead
I've never seen anyone put the miner inside of their factory, so I'm trying that for the caterium in my computer factory
And decorated the area like it's any other spot of my factory
I do that
I like to build them into a little ramp divot in the foundation
sometimes I do but not necessarily by choice, I find a cool spot for a factory and there always happen to be a node there lol
can an oil extractor on a pure oil node fuel more than 8 fuel generators? (Using regular fuel and regular fuel recipe)
can someone check my universal path issue please, ty
depends on your recipes
huge doggo
how do you guys deal with placing railways over huge distances
blueprints
(posted this in the console channel by accedent the first time) is anyone willing to join me on a new satisfactory server im starting, my dms are open
they don't generate with supports so if you need to bring them up you have to build a whole concrete pillar first
i don't think even the mk2 designer is big enough to hold a meaningful amount of track
even then you're still stuck building the support pillars by yourself
and building in only short segments because the designer isn't that big
okay, sure, you don't have to build supports for your railways
but i think it looks bad without supports..
I don't understand, how would you even do it without supports? What are you saying here
if you do build a section of track in the blueprint designer so that you can autoconnect it (for things like straight distances or max incline/decline)
the size of the designer does not limit the length of a given piece of rail
it does if you're using blueprints like they suggested
cause they can only be as big as the designer
???
no, thats what auto connect is for, i do mine like this, its just a 3x3 in size #screenshots message
you use blueprint auto-connect build mode, line it up, then lock it, then nudge however far you can
the blueprint itself only has a small stub of rail so the auto connect feature knows whats up, it doesnt need to be long at all
you could make it even smaller, whatever the shortest piece of rail is that you can make,
wait whaaat
what
what the fuck i feel so stupid..
i didn't know that was a feature!!
i thought they meant literally manually snapping blueprinted sections of track to each other
its still kinda new, 1.1 patch from last summer
i have to try this'
incredible feature, i can imagine the pain building rail was before this
well this, vertical nudge and the removal of nudge limit, all huge features that we got with 1.1
i tried building rail before that and it was fucking annoying
it really wasn't much of a pain
you printed towers and then quickly just snapped rail between two far bits
it was in fact very fast
i had a hard time getting my rail to the right height, the annoying fiddling i had to do to get the blueprints to the correct height ughhh
um coming from someone who already built 3 train lines like that
that was fucking miserable!!
amen, i know for me i couldnt do it without these features
well maybe i could without auto connect, but vertical nudge is huge
that's wh yyou zoop a line of foundations along the path first
zoop a line of foundations the whole path first
then print 'towers' on top that hold rail
connect them as you go
it's great for planning AND keeping everything tidy #1487321875922030722 message
suppose if you fiddle around long enough you figure out how to do just about anything
bro signals are too confusing
train signals i kinda get the purpose of the block ones but pathing ones are just too weird
path in, block out
yeah i heard
Quick question, do asphalt roads increase tractor/truck speed? Or just player speed
is anyone here familiar with systemd i just want somone to check my config
soo wtf is the weird runny thingy and why are all the animals resized rn t-t
is it an april fools thing?
you can also jsut do blocks everywhere. Paths are totally optional
I'm so excited for this first real attempt at a super aesthetic factory I learned how to use the photo mode lol
The photo mode is awesome
shouldn't increase speed in any other way that it's often easier to drive straight and flat?
asphalt is cosmetic in the game. any foundation can just make your ride smoother because of flat train but not actually increase the speed
do u not need paths for multiple junctions at the same place?
it pains me to have so many leftover space elevator parks
need? no not at all
just turn the intersection into a block
why do people use them then?
mostly they like the look of them I guess?
sometimes it means mroe than 1 train can use a junction at the same time
but conversely ALL trains always slow down at a junction even if there's no reason to
but very few people ever have so many trains they need anything like that
you can, w/o much effort, never ever use path signals
why build any train signals when you could build a lotus interchange
i c
Im starting in satisfactory, currently at phase 2, but i dont know if its worth it to keep the materials for previous Convenyor mk's stored. Should i just store the mats im using for my current Convenyor mk and redirect the rest back to the factorys?
the materials that make old mk belts are used for other things too
Like im not using reinforced iron plates but i dont know if i should keep storing them while using half of it or use my full stock on the factory
it's good to automate them, have them go to a storage container, and have the overflow go to an awesome sink. you use them for stuff occasionally
automate everything. whatever you dont automate, you will need automated eventually with few exceptions
you think is better to have an overflow rather than using them for more complex recipes?
if you siphon off of your existing production to produce more complex items, you'll find yourself backed into a corner typically. you'll run out of resources quick
I'm still new but so far it seems like automating one machine worth of everything is good so you have them on hand, then later on when you use them in production lines you keep those separate and just make more of whatever it is
I tried to siphon off my automation and it made my starter factory a shit show lol
you can always over flow it to things you are also making - just don't sink them and it'll all back up and store
oh so you have a dedicated production line for each item?
easier to just automate iron plates, iron pipes, wires, copper, etc. and have a storage container full so you can use them when you need them. extra goes to the awesome sink so it's not a waste
for me? while going up the milestones?
the opposite xD I just smoosh all the items together
lol you make me feel better about trying to use my leftover parts to container feed the phase 3 parts
this is the way
It's a good method for just unlocking things and focusing on other things
I literally have like 4000 each of smart plates and automated wiring, it feels stupid to make production lines for them again lol
but I'm sure later I'll be like shit I should have automated the phase 3 parts cause I need them later
and do you use an exclusive node for each item too?
typically, i do, unless i make a specialized plan for that specific resource
ok i think i get it
that seems kinda awkward to do early game
you think so?
maybe I should plan my phase 3 parts factory based on node outputs
don't listen to me I'm a newb too lol
there are more nodes than you need to beat the game. do what you need to do that makes sense to you to stay organized and grow outward
also, is there a more efficent way to travel than hypertubes?
do you know about using multiple entrances?
a cannon to launch you across the map is probably faster than a bunch of entrances going into a tube but I just use the tube I'm too lazy to set u pa cannon
maybe i should start moving everything in trains so i dont have to move around an pick everything up
