That, and it's not explained in-game at all
(not that I recall, anyway)
My biggest problem was the sloshing, but if that can be mitigated, then it means I'm free to do almost whatever I want within the boundaries of the physics engine.
You just got to approach it like the adaptous mechanicous in warhammer 40k.
Perform the proper rituals and praise the machine spirits
I'm sorry for your [fluid] loss[es]
Make it a 590 power plant and 0 issues.
Really my biggest gripe is that there just isn't enough information given to me when I'm trying something funky, so I've gotta wait for a couple hours while it settles and stabilizes, before probelms start cropping up
The fluid dynmaics physics is fine in the game, it's just that it's mostly invisible to the player
mostly sloshing is mitiged by loops AND full pipes AND lack of buffers
But damnit they gave fluid gravity, and I'm going to use it. The buffers are just my peepholes, regular pipes don't tend to give me enough information.
you look at a set of machines using fluids - are they always up 100% of the time?
you have all the info you need
no? work on the flow or math
I do understand that - if a fluid buffer fillls up where it shouldn't be filling up, you've got a problem
But it introduces issues in other ways
except the issue with that is that it's often because the buffer exists that that happens
AGreed
and you can tell the exact same thing if your outputs on your producers are clogged
it's like shooting someone and then going 'HUH! this person has a bullet hole in them, glad I checked with this GUN'
I'm curious why all the buffer hate. You're telling me if I use pipes to fill a 2400m3 water tower and gravity fill a column of pipes... I'm gonna have issues because the game treats water out of the container differently?
I've not used them enough to notice an isssue
I can do that with belts, that's easy. But 300m³/sec doesn't always mean 300m³/sec, and sometimes I've gotta find out why. The more I mess with it though, the easier it becomes to mess with the fluids.
they either do nothing or cause problems.
That's the whole thing
yes that's why you look if your machines are running right
Because people think it solves problems when it doesn't. There is no difference between a pipe and a buffer, game wise. They're the exact same thing to the game's code, just that a buffer holds much more and has a different UI
except buffers give variable head lift and can cause flow issues by existing
pipes don't do that
Buffers are for
......
....
Buffering trains
Unless you're either stockpiling liquid, or using the buffer for wacky headlift tricks, there is absolutely nothing they do that a pipe can't.
I would instinctively think a buffer would apply continuous head pressure, whereas water extractors are discrete, if you watch the pumping animation .
No comment on how it's coded backend just visually and irl
yup, their headlift depends on how full they are
also if the yaren't always full, huge sloshing issues
not just huge sloshing issues, WORSE sloshing issues than if you had just pipes with sloshing issues
basically
i love mindlessly plopping down machinery only to realize it's all backwards
1400+ hours and I STILL do this.. aggravating.
Idk, only 2 things I've noticed are that 1: buffers are pipes with large vertical cross-section, and 2: buffers can be more prone to sloshing in large amounts because of the way pipe sloshing is treated combined with their capacity. But honestly, once I figured them out, it was never the buffers that gave me a problem. It was always the pumps (or especially check valves, on the rare occasion I used them).
I want to know the game logic that always breaks the pipe immediately after the pump. It's always that spot.
also if you are pumping fluids up to a buffer for a water tower you don't actually need the buffer
I recently did that with FORTY smelters
3200 fucking hours and still doing it
we should start an "Ass-backwards" club
ADA and the spheres are getting a little freaky
or something like the decon button, but of a "flip this around please"
run towards the voice!
HARVEST
I'd love to have the cut/copy/paste mechanic of Alchemy Factory
they're flirting man which is a little weird for an AI model and a disembodied voice buuut I do need more dimensional depot space
That... already exists!
well, for the machine settings that is. Then for the actual copying of machines you have the blue print
I don't mean blueprints. I mean I click, drag out a square, and everything above it is selected. Then I can cut it, or rotate it and re-paste it as I please.
i still kinda don't like using blueprints
I kinda wish they had never added blueprints
Especially in those moments when everything was accidentally placed one square off
i just can't think far enough ahead to to a pre-setup thing like a blueprint 🤣
I can't blueprint, because I build, and figure things out as I go. No two builds are ever the same.
same
i just did a mass run of 10 nodes to the center of the map without blueprints because i changed things about a dozen times
Lol, sounds like stuff I do
I tend to make stuff up on the fly also, primary issue tends to be the large scale at which I build.
I wish conveyor stackable poles where able to zoop right and left not up and down
Having the patience to go through with the large builds is hard. Especially after the Sushi Factory.
That mentally cooked me.
You mean at 40m intervals or something?
like in a line for easyer placement
Should see my spire project that I onlined recently, that took more patience than I could truly afford.
That would be kinda cool actually, a super zoop that auto-calculated the poles for you
I am curious to see. My stuff took so much out of me that I stopped playing for 3 years half-way through the build. And for several months afterward.
Where's the best spot to sloop for copper powder for pasta
Is it ingots from foundry or the powder itself
Here's an overview of the spire project #design-and-architecture message , its basically 23 oil platforms and a resin refinery at the end, total output 6460 plastic & 3660 rubber.
Lol, the numbers say a lot
Another large scale one #screenshots message , this place puts out 12300 aluminium ingots.
Does anyone have a guide for nuclear power I can read?
it's basically like any other process
decide on recipes and location
decide how yo uwant to deal with waste.
what did you want to know?
All the worlds SAM #design-and-architecture message 🤣
I suggest feeding the waste to doggo and the toilet on the hub
More numbers here #design-and-architecture message , look at the pic just below the clip 😂
That's basically what I was doing, more just wanting to know best ways to set up the plant and whether it is worth it to go straight to plutonium or not
like everything best is subjective
you can jsut quickly blueprint storage for the waste, never have to do plutonium.
I generally do plutonium to feed into my drones
do y'all like to max out the amount of smelters per node at the highest level of miner & belt rate before you've unlocked it and keep the extras on standby, or expand as you go
do you guys usually use guns/rebar gun? i never bothered and just make nobelisks for combat, but since i just started over, i was thinking of getting rebar gun
the rifle is good stuff
Other than that some tips
you don't have to make the rods and burn them in the same location
very easy to drone the rods to the water
I would have all the logistics, drones trains everything on a dedicated grid completely split from the rest of yoru world, don't want to accidentally delete a rail or power line and crash your nuclear system
i do nobelisk until i get explosive rebar
nuclear weapons are good fun too, just enough kill, definitely not overkill by any means
when is explosive rebar? is that on the sulfur mam
Yes
gotta get to refineries first
oh dang
i dont even have steel going yet, just pipes from crash site
im taking it slow 🙂
i play a couple hundred hours then take a 6-12 month break then play again lol
the tradeoff is with nobelisk you can drop one at your feet and be ok, explosive rebar you accidentally hit and it goes instaboom
C4 vs M79
But bigger boom is better boom
How long do these builds take
Do you prefer massive builds vs say "how much can I fit creatively in a 48x48x48 cube
Due to work eating up a ton of time, sometimes a couple of weeks.
however much your system can take before it melts
Thinking of how to do belting all the way for a straghit line
(hit R)
The sushi factory is probably less than 1/10th that size.
The hard part for me was routing, figuring out what to make before routing, and trying to feng shui 30 different resources and minimize belt backtracking in a small space with as few belts as possible, without making everything super cramped.
I still haven't properly figured out aesthetics yet.
-what are you going to do with 1.21 Jigawatts of power?
Sounds like the fun and games that is the helix bundle underneath the resin refinery, it's job was to cull resin before consolidating the rest onto fewew belts for distribution, send the resin upto the refineries, and combine the outputs with the rest, all within a six metre high space at each end of the structure.
transport satisfactory back to 1985 and then when I get home I'm immediately jumping into a new game of satisfactory 10.0
lol i wonder what kind of mid-80s system would be needed to run SF on minimum settings
Thats a them problem
i bet max settings would take the entire planets' worth of computing power from back then
You'd need to convert everything back to at least 16 bit first, maybe 8 bit. But a Gateway 2000 would probably barely manage at 1 frame per 10 minutes
lol gateway, haven't heard that name in a long time. i remember the cow theme
there existed 32 bit systems in that era, theyd have to translate it off of intel though
The only 32 bit-type systems I'm familiar with all cheated by pasting something like 8 + 8 + 16 bits together.
Time to expand your horizons then 👍
i wish that steel beams were conductive
lol i dont
I'd be okay with it, if touching them caused electrocution, with damage scaling with the amount of power flowing through it
what point is shatter rebar
to shotgun blast multiple rocks
It's rebar. That shatters.
no shit xD
Pretty much a shitgun blast for hitting in an area.
thank you. lol
I prefer the explosions to shotgun hits though, more useful to me.
same
dont have oil
For a shotgun though, it's rather underpowered
i'm too incompetent with any other type of rebar
Explosive all the way
i do wish that regular rebar would pin players & mobs in place on a kill
I mean, there is stun rebar.
dang it I think I'm going to need a second bauxite node
maximizing density without clipping sucks
Aye. Wanna see some screw magic?
Lol. Not in the way you think though
i'm currently working on 6 pure iron nodes almost side by side
i'm starting to think i should invest in screw manufacturers irl
First two steel items, and all iron items up to that point, and copper. Done.
And I don't have a proper building yet, rereeeee
Free range machines. They never see a cage their whole lives
Are you familiar with Frankenstein's Monster?
The goal was to make everything as compacted as possible without anything clipping. And I succeeded, but at what cost?
They have the whole field to roam in. They can eat grass freely
your sanity?
It was a much earlier build, from back during 0.6
-it was a lot of fun to build, but it wasn't until I finished, and finally took a look at it that I realized what I had created
Still gets a lot of use too
In its current configuration
Further upgradeable with upgraded belts & miners, and shards, it's currently pushing out a modest:
20 iron plates
55 advanced plates
135 iron rods
1,260 screws
at least we don't need flowers and a color gun now 🤣
how much steel beams/pipes yall normally make at the start>
as much as the belts will allow, that's usually your bottleneck for a long while
i was thinking 270 iron/coal was enough for now, but i dont think thats enough for all steel items
it's enough to get you started, which is what you can focus on
then as you unlock faster belts you can expand further
I didn’t even notice they went missing until i was reading random things on the wiki and noticed the removed content tag
when can you get smart splitters now adayas
caterium tree
i mean, they do blind you to a lot of stuff until you're 1/2 nodes away from it
Afaik no mam tree has ever been removed
If you don’t count ficsmas leaving and coming back every year
flowers got removed.
Flowers aren’t a mam tree
they were
They were?
Huh
The flowers tree (more of a line) was removed in update 5 which was before i started playing
wow you have been playing for a long time
lol ive been playing since U1, just not super consistantly, i play and then take breaks
which unfortunately means i own it on epic 😛 im considering rebuying it to get it on steam, tbh i probably would if i could move my old save data to steam cloud
You kinda can move it to the steam cloud, copy the old data over, load it, then save, steam will sync it.
i may do that then
I forgot all about that thing
I've had other peoples save files end up on my cloud by loading them and trying to figure out the problems they had.
and yeah its so much nicer not to, although changing the texture still costs material
that is good to know
A good chunk of my steel is fed from oil byproduct
I ended up with thousands of steel just from power station byproducts 🤣
Petroleum coke
ohh okay
i thought you turned it straight to steel or like plastic into steel or something weird lol
i didnt know if there was some new "weird" alt
Idk about that, but my stuff was rather diversified
good!
thats my favorite parth of this game, seeing the things people make that are super unique!
Heh. Working on aluminum atm, want to play with quartz purification
yeah, the one thing i was always bad about was bringing resources from other areas, for some reason i had a bad habit of either belting it across the world or trying to move raw resources, i shouldve condensed and such wouldve made moving things easier
Belting ftw
you spelled "trains" wrong
What do you mean? My belts are resource trains
dude im so tired i reread my mesage 4 times trying to see where i spelled trains wrong
I was being silly about trains (I love trains)
i like the old trains
not the new confusing ones 😉
(i understand them for the most part, but the old ones just went where they were told)
that is still the case
Satisfactory - How to train your resources
no, you have to deal with signals and logistics, you cant have multiple trains on the same rail
Logistics and paths they take are the same. Just need block signals so they don’t collide
you can. train logistics follows several very simple rules:
- The engine decides where it is going. nothing else.
- The engine will ALWAYS take the shortest route.
- Block signals only tells the train if the next rail segment is available to be occupied.
i know. i was just joking because they used to clip through each other so it was nothing
AH! Fair. that didn't translate well, my apologies. I try to explain for any lurkers or newbies reading
honestely, i appreciate it, it is helpful even though I knew more or less what you said
Half-clipping a belt to a lift was always amusing. I think it's called side-loading in Factorio
AND, its really helpful that you do that because there are a lot of things you learn from experience, and sharing your experience could really help people!
for sure. and you probably don't remember me. I started in U6 I believe, seen you pop up from time to time. I know I did as well
Actually, one feature I think the devs removed, that I really wish they hadn't, was the ability to place a track curve, then walk way beyond the range of the track, pick a spot, and it would still build out as far as possible. I used to use that trick to make giant bends, and I can't anymore.
yeah i think i joined the server a few months into playing, the wealth of information ive gotten on here is outstanding! like back when fluids were added i could never get my water to work, mcgalleon saved my butt
McGalleon and Greeny have saved so many players' sanity regarding fluids, newbies still come on here to argue with them
lol
sometimes i like to argue with Greeny, but he is amazing lol
i use his tool all the time, sometimes i consider making my own, just because there are some features id like to add to his, then i realize how much work he has put into it and give up lol
hahah the only time I "argue" with Greeny is when I'm being facetious.
well, yeah... maybe im being stubborn some of the time 😛
We play satisfactory, we are all stubborn to a fault...
it doesnt help that im about to graduate with degree in engineering so I have to be stubborn there too 😛
(Why is it 'fuh-SEE-shus', and not 'FAH-setis'?)
well tbf, it's not a professional degree anymore, according to certain, cough people cough
you're legit asking a deaf person, so according to my expertise, it's neither.
wdym its not a professional degree?
serious question: you don't know?
i mean, i dont pay close attention to politics, im about to graduate with bachelors in EE and will get masters in a few years, but i mean medicine, law, and engineering seem like the 3 main professional fields to me
Uh. Does it count as a professional trade then?
huh
yall im so confused, why isnt it a professional degree lol
and if it isnt... what is?
ima laugh my freaking butt off if you say buisness or some shi because that is a party degree
You don't have to convince me. My wife's a special education teacher and it's not considered a professional degree either. Nor is my counseling degree "professional" either. This is all according to Dept of Education.
thats so stupid.
Sounds like somebody turned Engineering into the Breakdancing Raygun of Higher Learning
-because it's so easy
engineering isnt easy?
i mean, i enjoy it, so its not like its hard but its not easy
oh right no links here
I'd imagine that to be the mindset that demoted things
I was making a joke about it. The Trump admin made a list of degrees they do not consider "professional" anymore for the federal Dept of Education to exclude from higher student loan borrowing limits.
nothing to be confused bout on your end Dylan.
honestely, most policies of the DoE are dumb, they barely fund schools, then get mad when most teachers dont care enough and it shows on the students. there are some amazing teachers, ive met a handfull, but most of them are so worried about making enough money to live they cant focus on teaching. (I dont blame the teachers to be clear, I blame the gov)
this is a little off topic! Sorry!
I don't disagree with you at all. I was being fah-see-tis...
It's a solid distraction while I tear the whole factory down
i didnt realize that greeny had all his src code available on github 🤨
Teachers in my country live off of a measly 1k-1.5k USD a month xD it's bad
geez... what is that compared to other professions though?
Other professions are no better only engineers make around 5k-10k
i made double that working at autozone with no required education 🙁
thats wild, i guess cost of living is lower where you are? I dont know... i live in the US and the economy feels ...yucky at the moment
ok, so im upgrading my storage area to have the dimensional depos, I automated so muich stuff that i ahve nowehre to put it
DD are soooo amazing!
question for smart people. what distance do you consider too long for belts
When it starts to bother you
before packaged fuel i find supplying tractors with coal to be tedious
yeah that's annoying. I just belt lol
If you're doing that, bake in a dump chest. Something that will send to every dimensional depot (it works much better if you place a storage chest or two prior as a buffer) via smart splitters. That way you can dump everything, especially the high value items back into storage, without having to sort it yourself. The setup does require a sink for overflow prevention.
oh i am
the sink hungers
all of that is connected to one sink
amnesite your build you posted in SS looks soooo amazing
my builds never look that good
i yearn to make my builds that pretty
About the length of #screenshots I put there
It's a good start
how long did that build take
The screws?
are you talkign about my screenshot?
hell yeah the steel screws
i didnt realize it was just screws, it looks so amazing
I wouldn't say it's great by any means, but the belts are mesmerizing to watch
it looks very cool lol
ah, i also plan on replacing my tractor system with trains, the tractor system works i jsut freaking lvoe trains, anyone have advice/
trains take up a lot of room
@west jackal it's not just screws, but that is the bulk of it
i know
if it proves impossible or too miuch work i was gonna make a train to take stuff from the oil factory and bring it to me
yeah after you said screws i looked closer lol. do you have like a texture pack or something? the steel looked sparkly
Nah, everything's vanilla on Ultra. It might be lingering Photo Mode settings though
yeah im on ultra, your game just looks so nice haha, maybe it was just the lighting
Ultra?! what are your specs?
Uh, it's been a minute
i guess i have on upscaling
its set to quality tho, so it renders 90%
im playing on 4k240 with 4080super and 9800x3d, but i onlyhave 32gigs of ram, shouldve thought about this game when i built the computer
3080ti mobile, i9-12900H, 64GB of ram, 2x2TB drives set up in Raid 0
if i had, i wouldve added 128gigs, 32 is fine for everything else haha
i also play on my laptop that has 3060ti but its on like medium settings with performance upscaling
The cpu, hard drive speed, and enough ram to load every texture is important too
i found the issue amnesite! for some reason the conveyor quality setting was turned down
i have 3 gen4 nvme drives, they are fine
I've heard lower belt quality settings causes load issues
Me on laptop with 1060 3gb i7-7700HQ 16gb ram NVMe ssd
damn, my gfs little brother games on a laptop with iris integrated graphics, its so awful.
i wish you top of the line pc specs in the future ❤️
Yeah I'm currently saving up money, should be enough to buy prebuilt pc with 4060 in the upcoming winter
why prebuilt and not building yourself?
i think for the most part prebuilts (from small companies) are around 200-300 usd over the parts, so if you built you could put that money into more ram/gpu
For the same reason people use other peoples' blueprints
I wish you could build laptops like desktops though
yea.. i bought a laptop back in 2022, ill never buy a gaming laptop again, i only really game on it when im at my gfs house but i think by the point i need a new one, ill be living with her soo
Especially because I can't truly upgrade a laptop, that's why I overbuilt the hell out of mine. Planning on running it to obsoletion
yeah i wish i got one with better gpu, but it was on sale, and lowkey the battery life is already SOOOO bad
Battery life on mine is also trash, but that's to be expected. At least it's portable.
same here, bought mine on sale from lenovo. it's decent, not terrible, not great. but it does the job and outperforms my PC it replaced which was about 7 years overdue for a replacement lol
I travel for work now so a gaming laptop is a must
when I'm home, I just hook it up to my 34" curved monitor. although tbf that's probably what is taxing the laptop the most lol
I play on a Rog Xbox Ally X when I am traveling .. runs very good … at home I connect a RTX 5070ti to the ally and play everything in ultra settings on a 85 oled
the laptop was better than my old pc, but i was coerced into giving that to my older sister that has never held a job, so she now has my old monitor and computer, i built a new one and got a 32inch curved 4k oled, so im happy, but out like a grand from the old system
anyways, it works for gaming on the go, as long as the system knows to use the gpu, sometimes it struggles and tries to use the integrated
yeah that sucks. I had to turn that off in bios settings. drove me crazy
the problem is that i want the integrated off when im at school, it just struggles to know when to use integrated or not. its supposed to use integrated on battery and dedicated when plugged in, but it forgets.
works well for the most part. Unless the charging pack is wiggled just enough so the battery thinks it's not charging and then it keeps tryinng to switch to integrated in order to save battery
not buying lenovo again.
i will say, i like the square power plug it came with WAYYY more than the round ones from other laptops
I used to be able to run this game in 4k at ~150fps (with Vulkan mind you), but between updates, Vulkan breaking, and The Factory Must Growing, I'm down to 50~60 @ 1440p
lol, what do you use to check fps
At least it warns you that the charger disconnected
im scared to load my old spaghetti mess
I leave the Nvidia fps counter running in the corner, real small. But I think Satisfactory has its own
It does, open the console and type: stat fps
what is the best use for trains?
everything
got it
I think I'm about to start using them. I need too many resources to build the aluminum stuff otherwise
which recipe are you using?
anyone good with fuel difficulties https://discord.com/channels/370472939054956546/1473209148534554765
what's up?
A lot of alts. But crystal purification is going in there too. Considering whether or not I want to move materials locally to make all the subcomponents on-site.
But I'm currently ripping into the floor to make a bit more room for things.
amazing burn time and return on energy
and it's GAS
GAS?
yup, gas, not fluid. don't have to worry about headlift
oh
low value high volume stuff, build locally if you can.
@tidal dock you can always pick nothing - then you won't get this again
-# #screenshots message
Making honk noises going 65 knots
Most likely going to. Just annoyed I had to rip everything out.
It's ~10 hrs down the drain.
At least I get to keep the already assembled aluminum bits.
this is the satisfactory way
Currently debating on adding floors
i need to automate motors and versatile framework, but its 1am and i have school at 8am...
it was good talking to you guys! goodnight@!
Tchüss
hey guys is the experiomental update worth trying or too many bugs? cheers
1.2 is not on there yet
ok, i learned the hard way that oil power doesnt jsut take crude oil, and now i look liek a total dumbass
hey if anyone wants to try my simple modpack I put together, it adds a few things but keeps the vanilla feel of the game
does packages oil residue serve any real purpose?
thats how i mainly get rid of oil residue
i package it then sink it
im about to use tio for the fuel generators, didnt know if packaging it had any real purpose
whats the most amount of freights that can be on a train until it slows down
Guess who just hit tier 9 🥳
nice
Also, oil is sort-of the introduction to aluminum shenanigans, and then probably uranium in turn
Oh load balances..what would I ever do without you ❤️ ❤️
The residue can be refined. Dumping it is honestly a waste. Depending on which route you go, everything can be turned into:
Plastic
Rubber
Petroleum Coke
Fuel ( -> Turbo Fuel with compacted coal)
Fabric
I have a few favorite mods
Faster manual crafting redux
vanilla upgrades
glass fluid buffer
inventory slots 150
awesome points x100
balanced craftable power shards
power towers plus
fuel chainsaw
elevator icon pack
awesome artifacts
these are the mods I play with
While I've been running Vanilla, whatever mod overlays the base onto the World Map is something I'd love to have
there is a minimap mod
if you want mods but still want the vanilla feel, I would recommend trying these 10 mods
it still feels a lot like vanilla, but with a little twist and a few little quality of life things added and extra features
wow no messages in over an hour...it's quiet
europeans working, americans napping
"Americans". Yeah keep trying to make me think they exist. Brain rot
I left my factory on overnight for the first time. I need reinforced plates. But I know it'll be clogged with screws
I didn't feel like disconnecting the screws
rekt, sounds like you need a better factory
irregular reminder that idle crafting is paying microtransactions to your energy provider
My roommate pays for the electricity and also I hate them now so it's cool
(not even sure if this is a /s, I'm moving in like two weeks because they suck lol)
It's basically just highest safe number in the language the website uses. Practically ot's "infinity".
(Also cc @cunning glade )
Graveyards are awake!
When 10 modular frames a minute lines up perfectly witb a pure node 😩
JuSt MaNiFoLd It!
I see ty very glad I pinged figured u weren't on and neat
Even though I am American, I don't identfy with them
I have a strong dislike for other Americans
I'm nothing like them
America is a joke
just wait for the shock what will happen when China becomes #1, Americans won't be so proud anymore
Here's the list of mods for my little vanilla + modpack
Faster manual crafting redux
vanilla upgrades
glass fluid buffer
inventory slots 150
awesome points x100
balanced craftable power shards
power towers plus
fuel chainsaw
elevator icon pack
awesome artifacts
It has its uses, it still researches stuff
inventory slots are basically pointles once you hit depots anyway
I have been doing that for all of my saves, I'm just trying mods for the first time
it's super fun
||same, I'm just coping with this joke. It feels like our country has been destroyed by lack of education, but I'm neurodivergent and learned some things slower and some things much faster, and thought everyone was on the same page as me generally with a few bad apples, and easily tricked people. Then 2024 elections happened and woof. I feel like there's a lot of neurodivergent people "waking up" in the last 10 years and going "oh they actually meant that shit, and there were more than I thought huh"||
I mean I like power slugs me irl
I want power shards creatable without the slugs, but I want the slugs to still be a bottleneck early game because I like them and think they're cool. Does this still allow you to use power slugs, and you don't unlock the other method until later?
is it normal to feel burn out on this game because i just finished phase 3 and phase 4 feels like a lot 😭
I take breaks with factory games often for this reason. RPGs (and a lot of other games too) I suck at coming back to, but factory games feel like a new game when you open them up after a week sometimes. I think it's easier to come back to because the big machines are like, active records of what I've been working on (unlike other sandbox games). If it's been a really long time, I treat the save like those "half done" saves in some simulation games where in, say, roller coaster tycoon, you have to figure out what's going on with the park and make it better. But then because you did it you're like "who put these pipes here?! Oh yeah me lol"
Especially if you hit a road block. I try to have a story-narrative game or a simpler grinding game ready for it. If you have a strong computer (or a second rig), you can turn your settings down and let it auto craft while you play a different game, too. That way it still feels like you're playing.
||Sorry if that's not the advice you wanted lol||
good news, this is already a thing in vanilla
and given that there's over 5000 shards worth of slugs on the map, you're unlikely to run out unless you're actively trying
😂 i just moved out of the usa in 2025 and im so happy i did
Hope 1.2 gonna be peak
they said theyre gonna announce the date when 1.2 goes on exp on 27/2
vacation?
Yh in France/europe i think theres vacations rn
idk for europe but for france it is vacation
thas me 😭 forgot not everyone got a job
lol its okay
Holy
paycheck gonna be fat tho 🤑
which diamonds alt should i use?
ye i make good money n its a rlly good work environment, everyones rlly nice
If u like it thats the main point
whichever one makes the most sense for your current situation
Anyways i thibk im gonna rewatch that 8h 100% of satisfactory
wont be my long time career but rn im def learning a lot
how do i disable a single mod without uninstalling it?
best to ask that in the modding server
cant believe ada considers exploiting the planet as a "behavioral defect"
Ada seems to see most of what we do as defects
me: "time to make a big building to wrap my phase 2 factory in"
my power grid failing: "lol, lmao even"
Mayhaps power should cone first
Always power first, you can't build much if the whole thing eats a black out.
#screenshots message Time to rest till 1.2
251 hours? how far did you get
100%
Power exists in Create Mod and this (the two factory games I'm playing rn) to make me sad. MineMogul exists to free me from the shackles (and put me in different shackles, physics simulation on the belts)
The point of factory games is to make me passively pissed off until I switch to the other factory game to cool off
I'm healthy I swear
priority power switches >>>>
finished phase 5?
Platinumed the game finally. Time to mess with my system clock and play ficsmas
Yea I got every trophy. Including the fuckass golden nut
They're useful for remote controlling, but if you build your grid solidly, in the first place they're not needed.
I’d been saving tickets my entire playthrough and apparently I stored some outside of the depot at some point too
B-But there are aesthetic things to buy 🙁
Think it’s time for a challenge run or maybe just a break till 1.2
why are you being cranky about the best statue?
I bought everything besides the factory floor prints
Hi! Throughput monitors for pipes will likely never be a thing, right?
I'm running my factory while I'm at work. On my lunch break I'm putting all the excess into my Sink. I feel like a real gamer™
I’m gonna sink that damn statue!
smth you can also do is have a weapons factory (sulfur, coal, etc) and remotely turn it on/off and you can keep using it for fuel or whatever else
The environment is proud of you
there's "Advanced Game Settings" if you don't want to actually play the whole game
I tend to fire and forget with ammo, the depots make it even more leave it be, as you have a permanent on board freshing store of things that go boom.
The environment can die, it keeps my ores from me until I pummel it into submission and then I burn the coal to dab on it
Nah, this is just how I play automation games :p
I was thinking more of our actual environment
I bet you would have loved cookie clicker
yeah i use a LOT of nobelisks and tend to run through a full industrial storage once a week, so i just use that sulfur and other stuff for fuel normally. whenever i need to reup, i just turn the weapons on and adjust for the power loss
You can craft them with computers with mods. With the balanced power shard mod
Once I finish this side project of my copper basics to depot factory, I'm part way through running the numbers on feeding an ammo.
(fair, I only do this every week or so tho so like, eh)
Tell me about it, I had to switch to snowballs as I'm out of nobelisk and I still haven't finished running the numbers for the replacement ammo facility.
once you unlock the synthetic power shard recipe in the MAM you can buy them with AWESOME sink tickets
I moved onto revolution idle
my favorite idle game back in the day was a tower defense game called "Ant Buster" on Addictinggames
I like idle games. They slot into my automation game schedule very nicely. But I'm waiting for the next update for Revo Idle and others aren't enticing me lol
ahh flash games were my childhood, I didn't get my first video game console until I was 10
it was working for a bit... then some of my other factories came back online from me picking stuff up and it pushed it over the edge LOL
all I had was the family computer, still to this day I haven't bought anymore games on consoles after Wii
That feels like it would be too much though
I'm a PC gamer
I play PC like 90% of the time but I dabble in Nintendo because childhood. And I do more than dabble in Zelda but like I'm a super fan so
A lot of Nintendo shit has better fan games than the actual games now though. Like Pokerogue. I don't feel like playing a regular Pokemon game now lol
I just added 3 new mods to my modpack:
Glass fluid buffers
Megaprojects: power domain
awesome artifacts
I was soo poor I could only play real games at friend's houses all I had at home were yugioh cards, board games, and flash games
Hello, I've been having a problem since this morning. I can't launch the game, and every time I click "Continue" to restart my game, it crashes and I get an error message that says: "An Unreal process has crashed: UE-FactoryGame". Could someone please help me? I've tried everything and I don't know what to do anymore 😢
I remember the first time I played a playstation 2 and I was wowed by it so much
only absolute goats remember guest defense on roblox
I remember so many good flash games
my favorite flash game was on Nick.com those were the days, I played a Danny Phantom game called "freak out for all" and I sucked so bad at them, I didn't end up beating most of them until I was an adult
My all time favorite computer game, before I realized how much it sucked, was Wizard 101
I did end up beating it
I'd probably try starting with forcing it to launch using a different option of dx11, dx12, or vulkan
4 years ago today I beat Wizard 101
if you're on steam open game properties and you can add something like -dx11 to launch options
February 17th, 2022
Unfortunately, I've tried absolutely everything and nothing works.
okay enuff about me. let's talk satisfactory
ahh ok, in that case you might try posting in #1038092680493801533 and list off what you already tried and people might know of something new
I recently upgraded from a 970 to a 1060 to a 3080 ti and an AM4 Ryzen and I gotta say the game looks beautiful now
Especially with lumen. But RIP my electricity bill 😭
good for you, it tends to do that yes
Okay, thanks, I'll see if someone can help me out of this.
I'm running a Ryzen 7 5800X Overclocked to 4.8GHz and a RTX 2070 Super Overclocked to 2070 MHz
yes I overclock my PC, deal with it
wdym
and I have 32 GB of RAM
Why should anyone take offense with OC?
I get a lot of hate for that in the computer groups, because apparently it's bad lol
I disagree
I OCed for years
Same here, been doing it since 2020
Ooook
I've never seen hate for over clocking lol
Yeah strikes me as odd too
indeed, except my stupid CPU is a DUD and it only wants to overclock just 100MHz otherwise it always gives me a BSOD
Ah well my old sandy bridge i7 was an OC monster
Actually made a significant difference in factorio
if you want more FPS, overclocking your GPU is the way to go
your GPU is special, it can take a real beating you might be able to get as much as an extra 300MHz of core clock speed out of it
I won‘t because my current build is liquid water cooled and it’s not able to dissipate all that heat
It’s in a mini itx case which was not made for this at all
I bought it used like that
i could overclock tbh
i have a ryzen 9 5950x and use a 360mm rad mounted on the front of the case
Between the ryzen and the 3080 there is so much heat output that the thin 2x radiator can’t cope
I never thought it was worth it
and the case sits on the floor by my balcony which is always open
And I am afraid the water temps would exceed 60°C
and its like -5 celsius outside rn
Are you not worried about condensation?
wdym
look it up 🙂
Yeah fr
look up what? condensation? 😭
depends how much you like your PC 🤷♂️
i know what condensation is but idk how it relates to this 😭
Then you don’t know what condensation is
would you care explaining why its such a big deal then?
instead of acting like im commiting some unspeakable crime
Go look up sub zero CPU cooling
There are videos from LTT
That demonstrate it very vividly
Better than I could explain on the phone right now
I messed with it myself in the past, way long ago but it was an expensive mistake, no thanks haha.
Yeah
My computer kinda made this anticlimactic piff sound, and it was all over.
Sounds about right
it's either that or a battery fire for most electronics so you got the good outcome 🤣
I've had that with my 2016 iPhone SE, made a lovely orange fireball + sparks.
I'm not good at explaining things but
If it's cold outside and the windows fogs up, that's condensation
and fog is water and water makes electronics sad 🙂
As long as it’s not directly sitting outside and thus the air it draws in will mix with room air and be above 0°C you should be fine but I already don’t understand how one could leave open the door to the balcony in winter
i like the cold lmao
and i live in a 20 sq meter apt so its a pretty nice temp inside
a ryzen 9 5950x and a 3090 gets pretty damn hot
Do you not heat your apt then?
nah i think the only times ive actually used heating was when i had friends over
As long as your computer (talking to pretty much everyone here) isn't on carpet? you're chill
oh god no id never put my computer on carpet
wdym, are you worried your PC would fly away?
It's a fire hazard
it can heat the carpet
and most people dont clean the fans and stuff on their computers often
Depends if you'reblocking the vents or not. It's not so much a purely carpet thing
im guilty of that myself 😭
same reason you should clean your case out now and then
I mean my PC is in a cold basement (yes, it's out and I can play games on it)
why does it say the orange block is occupied?
#screenshots
is there any way to report a game bug does anyone know?
cheers
I tend to do maintenance every six months, though I have been running a crazy overclock for several years so making damn sure the machine is in a good state is wise.
My current case has screens backing the vent covers so I'll just hit em with the vacuum when I'm doing the floors and then blow out all the inside stuff a bit less frequently
Mine, less so, I'm using a fractal design meshify 2, great for airflow and cooling, less so for dust so I pull the machine apart and blast it out.
getting rid of dust is waaaaay less effort if you don't let like the whole heatsink get crappified so I think it's worth it to do it regularly
vents and stuff are super easy compared to once it starts getting on actual parts
True
I get that, I don't take many chances, I super won the silicon lottery and don't want to nuke my cpu so I'm meticulous with its cleaning.
those meshify cases are nice though. All that fractal stuff is so pleasant to build in
Which vehicle can go the deepest into water ?
well the cyberwagon can function as a boat for short periods of time so I guess anything but those
Are you trying to dive down for something?
I want to know which vehicle is the most fitted to cross shallow waters like rivers or sea between islands.
factory cart for sure
Oh right, not sure on that front, I thought you was trying to get a death crate off the sea bed or build there.
See yes but I just never know what too make and also I feel I build different each time so idk
No, I don't want to sink
build a bridge 🙂
I don't really want to build bridges everywhere I want to cross a river.
Have you tried driving across a river yet? You might not need it for all of them
you're asking a very broad question including "rivers or sea between islands" so it's hard to say what you need
does jetpack count as a vehicle, cus pretty sure that'll be the winner
I did but sometimes my vehicle get drowned and I have to dismantle it and rebuild and put back the inventory.
yes, that'll apply to most vehicles
that's nature telling you that you need a bridge 🙂
this was a serious suggestion btw, jetpack is a great way to get around
a less serious suggestion: trains dgaf about where they're driven as long as they've got rails, go underwater as much as you like
can those charged boosters work 2 ways or do I need separate lines?
the what
hypertubes
you can have entrances on each end, yes
I mean when you group entrances together to boost
Anyone here accidentally pissed on a vape before?
My discord was broken sorry
I was trying to fix it and it said it was in a different tab
what the fuck kind of down bad shit is this?
the type best ignored
Yeah as a certified vehicle enjoyer I'd still say the main reason to use vehicles for exploration is just fun/RP. It's almost always easier just bladerunner+jetpacking around
natural roads exist but it's pretty often going to take you out of your way to use it
I spent a long time exploring with just pockets full of concrete building ramps where needed
or ziplining between power poles
I think that's how I found my jetpack on a hog
but all I had was solid biofuel and anything I found at crash sites
that was an excellent time
gosh this game is really pounding my PC now lol
late game is heavy AF on resources
if ram wasn't an arm and a leg I'd upgrade to 48GB
Pissed? 😭
At that point you might as well smoke THC cause you must’ve been high asf!
like are you that poor you can't replace whatever cheap vape?
vapes are notoriously cheap
So I'm making a base, not really just 1 factory
It's gonna be these compact 4x4 builds but they make 10MF, 10RIP, 10 Rotors all per minute on a massive foundation
For stuff like quarts, caterium and sulphur, should I just do that into one factory?
Are you that addicted to keep buying them? I was on them for a few years and now stopped!
this too
(as I'm actively vaping)
quitting is for losers
Trying to quit?
no
"quitting is for losers" say that when ur 6 feet deep from Vape Lung
It was just my test message to my wife because my discord was broken lol but it sent here
It was meant to be funny. I don't vape lol. Aside from occasional THC but I prefer to smoke or eat that anyway
Or if a friend offers a hit and I didn't secretly think they're disgusting
i found something amazing
👀
epic the musical
Anyone know how to turn of this crackling sound of the radiation specifically? I've been building a waste recycling plant for the past 2 hours and the constant geiger counter noises are starting to make me go insane
can you make a free dedicated server?
Guys whats the best way of dumping water from my battery factory
usually you run it back into another circuit that needs water
find some way to use it in another machine, perhaps in an earlier step, or wet concrete can consume lots of water, so can coal generators
I am thinking of using it for wet concrete and sinking the concrete
doesn't batteries need alumina solution which means water?
I have a full oc pump for that
just turn it down a bit and run the water into that intake
that's what I did pretty usre
hey i have the architctural mods and more buildable item mod but where can i foind it ingame? no in the build menue or in the shop
awesomeshop?
idk about mods myself
It'd be cool if u could drag a conveyer thru a line or splitters and connect them all
Connecting 100s of splitters sucks
Hey I have experienced a strange bug , my inventory was full and I was dismanteling some storage unit and it didn't create a dismantling crate . I lost like 4 mercer sphere
. I searched on the website if someone already experienced this bug but didn't find anything . And also now every time I dismantle with a full inventory no dismanteling crates spawns...
There is one on the map
That one will have everything in it untill it fills up
Yeah use the interactive map too find it if u need too
U can filter the whole map for just that and upload ur save too it
Thanks
Ofc:)
If I build out past the bottom of the map using foundations, is there an outer limit?
You can download the free dedicated software on steam and run it locally
The death box. When you feel pain you have reached the soft limit.
At that point you can use the hover pack and hover just above it. Your reach into the death box is the hard limit
should I move my base to the dune desert or should I stay in the grass fields
you should do both
You can build your factories where ever you wish. I disassemble my hub and move it to where my current focus is
What if I want a mega factory
Gotcha. I was hoping to use the open space as a way to expand without hitting anything, but I'll build in towards the rest of the continent instead
How do i make smelter factory with mk2 belts....?It aint gonna move enough raw materials no?
is there an achievement for collecting all the slugs?
I got a console achievement for collecting all 3 types
Your belts are always going to be your through put limit. If you are using four iron nodes run 4 mk2 belts feeding 4 manifolds
Idk tho
So basicly make bunch of mini factories in that big factory? until i get better belts?
The manifolds can be in one factory or many. The choice is yours.
Gocha, ty
Are your miners outputting more than your belts can handle?
Is so clock your miners accordingly.
yeah all the way to 250% then get better belts!
What are yalls opinions on making interstates of train tracks as soon as I unlock them? 🙃
Like having them span the map so I can always get where I need
I’d like to play another run of the game but I dislike the thought of dealing with those nasty nasty spiders without nuclear bombs again
trains are fun just keep an eye on your power graph if you build it out super early like that
Plus my first run took over 250 hours..
Maybe like 4 vert 4 horizontal tracks, then they can branch out from there
... you're saying 16 rails in parallel basically?
Lol I keep resetting, I don't think ive officially beat the game yet (although I have many times before they added the end of the game)
Honestly with how much I stressed about feeling slow to progress I’m not too sure a 2nd run is the best for me mentally
Uhh not in parallel, 4 in parallel and another 4 in parallel that intersect the originals with ramps to join the others, like irl highways
hey me too ... I literally wiped all my old saves, started a fresh called Endurance Challenge with the intent to make it all the way, lol
I have had to slow down and not rush, and just enjoy it again
I'd stick to 2 rails going in opposite directions (IRL road style)
you probably won't need more, if you do build it then
So 1 central rail just with branches?
I think my main issue was wanting to make a new factory for EVERY item. I would have already made a 12 RCU factory and I’d need 2 for a new factory so I’d completely remake 2/min instead of just.. taking 2/12 from the main factory
wow, I got yeeted OUT of my hypertube part way through it
Maybe I can try a mega or more close together set of factories for another run
It can happen if you go too fast, edit- used too, I assume it still does
this intersection is fancier than necessary but kind of shows how I'd do 2 rails #screenshots message
lucky was wearing the hover pack, lol
Looks quite nice. I assume those roads are used by trucks too?
And does that fit on blueprint machine?
yeah I use a big of each vehicle type, there are carts, tractors, trucks on the road
Shi
I think im gonna try to do something like that. I just need to figure out how to make the road look nice
what is that monstrosity brotherman of century
The intersection is very large so if you wanted to try to BP it you'd have to do it in chunks. I do have BPs for the roads now #screenshots message
I used to play a lot of cities skylines
Shi those look nice but if I was driving explorer on it, id feel like i was in mario kart 😂
Is it supposed to be like that I can get the turbo fuel alternate recipe before I even unlocked the normal recipe for it?
no you shouldnt have access unless you already unlocked it in the mam
Weird, because I got it before I even unlocked it in the Mam
unless you have an old save from before it went into the mam
(i believe it was U6 that they went into the mam)
yes i remember back when they updated to U2 i think, the cost of it went up a lot and broke my fuel plant, and then (checked the wiki) U6 is when it went into mam
I wish the steam achievements retroactively unlocked. I don't want to make a new game and spend the time completing phase 1 and 2 again just to unlock the achievements for them
Or completing the entirety of onboarding again
do you have the blender
No
Then there's the "gather somersloops, mercer spheres and hard drives" achievements too
then idk
I don’t have any other safe and never unlocked it before. I mean my save was created a long time ago so I don’t know, maybe it was something with an update which made the game think I already have it
thats very weird
What had been confirmed with the new qna?
Well, there's two avenues of thought you could take here: 1. You unlocked it a long time ago and don't remember, in which case, you're all set. Or 2. The game randomly has given you the recipe without the need of spending a hard drive, in which case, you come out net positive so no sense in worrying about it
its also possible if you were mucking around with the interactive map that you gave it to yourself on there, there is a setting to do that
can you use items out of dim depot without putting in inventory? (i know this works for building) but does it work for jetpack or radiation/gas masks?
does ammo/nobelisks work in this same way
aw, okay thank you
Rain
Nice
I finally Unlocked aluminium production NOW THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS!!!
aluminum is fun, as long as you can deal with all the water
Make it rain wet cement
See that's the part I know I am going to mess up
If there was only an awesome sink that accepts fluid inputs looks at pc modded satisfactory
I have all my concrete needs coming from one impure node atm. I trying to hold off til aluminum
Naw that just removing challenge
Ooh that's a nice idea
Are you on pc?
Yup
it's just such a limited use case that can be handled in other ways using vanilla sink
Yeah but at least your not wasting iron in packages(or whatever they are called)
Why the f can't I find a single pure bauxite node all of the ones I find are either normal or impure
Hey guys,
having all recipes. Either oil + water into fuel and polymer resin --> polymer resin + water into plastic + rubber
Or standard way and get fuel as a byproduct
What is better?
I am like overwhelmed by how many possibilies there are 🙈
It's not wasting if it enables your factory to run how you intend. You're not going to run out of available resources on any normal kind of save
just use two normals
or OC a normal to 200% if you're not depending on an OC for the pure
presumably you'll get different output numbers for each of those chains, so whichever gives you the ratio you want
if you do use the fuel-based one though, make sure it's set up in such a way the resin can't back up (easily solved, just something to bear in mind), otherwise your power'd also go out
there are almost always better ways to deal with fluid byproducts (usually recycling into the same production chain they come from).
the only thing that really comes to mind is the very first oil-based setups people do where they just flush the byproduct, but you can also convert that into more useful products (usually folks recommend coke for either sinking or power)
how do you guys transport plastic/rubber from the production area back to the main factory to be used? trains?
that's one option, though at that stage of the game you should generally stop thinking about having a "main factory"
Trains can do it. Personally I try to just use them where they are produced.
I made a giant oil products factory and have trains delivering from there to wherever the products are needed
Why does my train not use its second Freight Car? It always uses the first one and leaves the second one empty
@fresh quail can you send a screenshot of the train in the train station
You need a freight platform for each car, which is usually the problem
They need to make a more advanced item sink
One that is specifically smaller
That’s all it needs
I'm sure there's a mod for that
No main factory here, not everything has to cross country journey to some big factory
it is my first oil prod. i figured it out to go with 240 crude oil into 80 rubber, 80 plastic, 80 fuel
half the plastic is for empty canisters to fill the fuel. with that i can fill up my fuel gens when i get this milestone. or do i need unpacked fuel for those gens? 😄
Oh thats the problem then. I have two train station and thought if the train has two freight cars, it uses one for each train station
Nope, you need a freight platform for each car at each station where you want it to load or unload
If you have a three station train line it gets more complicated
Happy to help you more in DMs if you want to send pics of your train and talk details of implementation
i just got electromagnetic control rods unlocked, is making 100permin reasonable based on its usage or no?
💀
Is there a mk3 blueprint machine
fuel gens use liquid fuel, so you won't need to package it
yes
it's only slightly larger
48x48x48 vs 40x40x40
do you guys prefer doing stuff and then see what you can build from there, build the stuff just for a specific thing
wat
I do a mix of both
I prep a few ingot factories and then build my stuff out of that
do you mean like, make 100 rods and then work out what to do with those, vs making a plan for modular frames right off the bat? if so, definitely the latter
trying to predict future usage is impractical, and building a giant facility (that you may not even need) early on means you can't tailor your production to new recipes and local resource availability
I often plan which item i want or need. Plan where and which resources are closest/more efficient. And plop down a remote factory for it
yeah vibe production is the way
I just kinda bumble along and shit gets done slowly
break it down into as small of chunks as you need to
it helps when you can use the blueprinter to scale your production and kinda print various blocks of production and hook them up
I also definitely benefited from realizing that 100% efficiency is basically impossible in some of the higher tiers and you should be happy if you can reach like 80% efficiency in your process and get some output rather than none at all
I pick a number that I think is good or doable, and then work backwards. I try to always produce more than I think I'll need so I can sink whatever I don't use. While also thinking about how I can scale it up further if I miscalculated and need to make more later
tbf, you'll never be like "I wish I already had made the 50 modular frames I need rn, that would save me a lot of trouble"
is there anyway to make custom to-do lists?
press equipment/codex, and click on the right most side
what button T-T
ahhh
equipment is tab
i was being stupid mb Thanks!
Im having some issues with water flow at my coal generators, wondering where I can post a diagram ive drawn of how my pipes are layed out? Its a very small one, 3 water extractors feeding 11 coal generators
#off-topic-media or #1038092680493801533 depending on whether you're wanting to open a thread.
unless it's a diagram doodled over a screenshot, in which case #screenshots
i don't think 3 water extractors is enough to feed 11 coal generators, i use 1 water extractor to feed 2 coal generators but i believe it can feed 3. using a 1:2 ratio is the easiest way to go
#off-topic-media message The relevant diagram. It might not be the right ratio, I can fix that later, but its currently only feeding like 4 of them properly, with flow issues to the rest, and Im only getting like 130water/s at both ends of the system as it enters the coal generator area, so its definitely not right
I put the generators above the extractors
hey guys im looking for a blueprint for conveyer buses to carry stuff around and look cleaner than just travelling along the ground
i mean wait until all generators are filled with water then start the process, also use power shards and with some math u can equally divide how many generators you can feed
try looking on satisfactory calculator
I did prime the water and coal properly, this is definitely a water flow issue. From the second my pipes hit the first junctions where I bond the 3 pumps together, I am instantly getting 1/2 flow rate, so ive done the junctions wrong, i just dont know how
I thought piping 1 to each end of the system and splitting the third between the 2 would balance things, but apparently not
can the pipes hold that much water?
Are they pumping to the generators fast enough?
keep in mind ur pipes can only move 300 cubic meters of water maximum
Most of my pipes are less than 10% full, so it doesntmatter
Water extractors are pumping at full efficiency
I would say add more water extractors
Doesnt matter, ive tried
Ratio 1 extractor : 2 generators
see the diagram above for pipe layout, its a flow issue, i just dont know how to diagnose it
Make them go directly to the generator instead of combineing
Extractor - > Generator
Extractor - > Generator
Extractor - > Generator
if ur on playstation slide me ur id i can send you my layout
you mean pipe 1 extractor per generator? that seems horrifically redundant and seems more like avoiding my issue
Extractor to 2 generators
I appreciate the bypassing solutions, but Id much rather figure out what I did wrong so that its not an issue im back in here for every time i touch a pipe :/
Im a fucking moron, at some point I must have missed while disassembling stuff and cut the power line to 1 of the water pumps after priming everything 😂
totally done that
!wikisearch cg
The Coal-Powered Generator is a power generator building that generates power by burning Coal, Compacted Coal or Petroleum Coke and Water. It is the first fully automated power source the pioneer has access to and also the first power source to use a mined resource.
One Coal-Powered Generator produces...
i extractor gets 120 cubic meters and 1 generator need 45 cubic meters so use 1 extractor for 2 generators or use power shards that way you can power up more generators per extractor it's really up to you. Simplest way is 2:1 ratio
No you're not. Welcome to satisfactory. Lol.
In my first playthrough idk why but i wanted everything in my base so I DID THE PIPE FOR 700M TILL MY BASE AND GOD KNOWS HOW ITS HARD TO PIPE ON LONG DISTANCES
it's easy to pipe stuff long distances with blueprinted pipe and autoconnect
my advice is line out everything perfectly to avoid getting problems like this mid to late game it will be a nightmare😂
I was a little dumbass that doesnt use blueprint
And autoconnect is new isnt it?
Im familiar with the ratios, its a non-issue, this is just a quickly snapped together first automated power, and even if my ratios were right, it was 3 extractors feeding 4 generators, so it was still an underlying flow issue 😂
i spent like 4 hours doing that😭
We could js build there..
might be, I'm newisht too
yeah fr i just wanted all my power sources in 1 place but thats so dumb
thanks for the feedback fellas, im gonna leave it going while at work and we will see what kind of disaster i come home to 😂
Next playthrough ill go into dune desert
can someone spoil me how hard tier 9 is?
I do the 3rd one in all my playthrough
Quantic time fucking new temporalities are created
And wormhole
Idk if my grammar is good im not native
Not hard, if you do a lot of automation utilizing mk3 miners and mk5 belts. Much easier if you use mk6 belts.
Phase 5 is taking everything you've learned from tiers 1-8 and combining them into 1 production line
lemme get an oh-way-oh
Sorry dumb followup question. When you say 48x48 - how many of those units is one foundation
Is it 8?
I assume the unit is meters but I'm not positive lol
I'd say phase 5 entirely depends on the groundwork you've laid in phase 4. If you've done your homework, phase 5 should be pretty short
yeah foundations are 8m wide
Ah ok tyvm
Hey guys,
first oil prod. 240 crude oil into 80 plastic, 80 rubber and 80 fuel. fuel into 4 fuel gens. sounds great. But how can I fix a full container of rubber/plastic? if they are full there will be no more heavy oil residue --> no more fuel --> losing 1000 MW power
Sink solution? But i do not wanna lose all the plastic/rubber 😅
😏 I also new
Can you like smart splitter one way until full and then it will automatically go to the other way once it's full or something?
yes
IDK how it works, sorry
common setup to have, storage+sink
How do you use the smart splitter to do that sorry, I haven't used them much
set the sink side to overflow, and the storage side to Any (or the specific item)
I have a fast question I got a hard drive with the recipe for charcoal on it. This is my first playthrough, so I have a tier list of all the recipes ready to go. But charcoal isn't on the list is charcoal good it seems good other than the fact that it pins me to going out and getting resources on my own
Thank you
obligatory "tier lists are questionable at best and definitely not universal as they tend to be biased by the author's preferences and ignore downsides"
but yeah, needing a hand-obtained resource for any sort of ongoing automation isn't usually something people are interested in
The other option was iron wire, which I find very interesting for the ability to ignore copper until later and set up a sub part production facility with on iron almost exclusively
You can also leave the options in the queue and not pick either. This removes them from the pool until you select one
which would you have more of a use for in your upcoming factories? if one jumps out, pick it
I guess I get them all by the end anyway right?
There are more hard drives then recipes. So yes you can get then all
I did hear about this, and I have been doing it. I have a couple of hard drives with just pure garbage on them
Its mostly opinion based as mentioned above. The biocoal option is great in some cases. For example I use it for weapons ammo
you never know, they might come in handy at some point
not only are alt worths subjective, but they change depending on what you have to hand. Iron Wire's a good example there, it's a tad less efficient in raw ore counts, but if you've got iron and no copper, it gives you options
Iron wire is part of the chain that lets you make motors of iron only
Big fan of that chain personally, seeing as iron is the second most abundant resource on the map
What’s the most abundant? Are you counting something like leaves?
Water
probably water
Even better, you can combine iron and water for motors
I guess I ended up in a not so great starting location then? I have to pipe water kinda a long ways
Just dont move the water. Move the parts to the water ^-^
The game is designed around you spreading out like a infection
you're a long way off being able to do that water+iron recipe anyway
If you want to do something that needs a lot of water, you can just do it where the water is, that's easier than piping water long way
Well, not that long :p
but yeah, it's almost always better to move solids to fluids if you have to move either
(but better to just build in place where you can and not have to move anything a significant distance)
start of T3 to somewhere in T5 is a fair way yet
You can get through phase 3 like that, for the most part, in phase 4 moving stuff around is inevitable
My base in the very bottom left corner of the map, near the pure coal node that's on a little island. I built the coal power plant right there since I needed Mk2 belts for it, and I didn't have enough reinforced Iron plates to send it all the way up to the water just north of there. So I ended up piping the water down to that island
think outside the box: 2 mk1 belts
if that's where I think it is then that particular piping probably isn't too bad luckily
Yeah. My sense of scale is really small since I just started. Everything seems far away now, but I know I’m just in one tiny little corner
The good part was, even though the water had to travel a distance, it was almost all down hill
does someone know how much MW you get with the 2100 uran into fuel rods and then into plutonium fuel rods? (not making those ficosnium rods or what they are called)
depends what recipes you use, naturally
if you prioritzie the uranium
Consider this spot, its not that far #screenshots message
It's quite popular
without looking I'm guessing that's the enclosed lake
Yeap
anyone know if the global rail networks made for 1.0 still works fine in 1.1?
Anything made in 1.0 should have no issues in 1.1
1.4GW
TW
Is there a difference in power consumption between putting a machine in standby or just letting it get backed up so it can’t produce anything?
not really, no
I think idle machines miiiight use 0.1MW and standby ones not?
if there is a difference it's negligible
I just looked it up on the wiki. It says that whether the switch is flipped or there's a logistical issue, it both counts as "stnadby mode" and both draw 0.1 MW. The only way to draw no power would be to disconnect it from the grid.
makes sense. still negligible either way, even a tiny coal power setup could handle 3000 of those
Ramming through progression now tho what up
Finished tier 3 and 4 pretty much as soon as every pod returned
Found a quartz node and I'm making glass soon, so I'm allowing myself to build now you see
Yeah I’m not worried about that at all. I was mostly just asking if there was a reason to turn a machine off if I ran out of storage or something like that
ah, nah not really. Though generally beyond the early stages, you'll have permanently active production lines that send their excess to a Sink instead of shutting down
(and may retrofit the old iron/copper setups to do so)
I completely replaced my old iron/copper very recently to free up the nodes for heavy industry.
Retrofit be a good looking puff jacket ayyye
What do yall use to get awesome shop coupons? random items, or do you set up a factory with something to feed it?
what is the best heavy modular frame recipe?
It depends on what you have an excess of
i mean i prefer to have a lot produced
Look at your recipes and look at your factory and make a judgment call
There isn't always a best clear-cut recipe
thanks
the ones that don't use screws
the vanilla recipe is the best one
got a recepie where screws dont need rods, sped up the process but screws still feel slow
there is one that uses encased beams and steel pipes and you can also get a recipe for making encased beams from concrete + steel pipes so you can use steel pipes at both steps
wait does that use screws😭
ya most of the HMF recipes do
wait which one gives the most output idc what the ingrediênts are
so then it becomes concrete, steel pipes and modular frames basically
this one uses the most screws per HMF though
I'm planning to produce 10 adaptive control units per minute. Should i use caterium based recipe for the computer?
even with that recipe of 20 ingots?
Just produce the screws next to the machine that uses them, I don't see the issue.
again, the recipes that don't use screws have significant parts overlap
the new player hivemind has decided screw recipes are literally unplayable
havent seen that one actually
wait does it also require screw cz theres 2 of them
steel pipes + concrete + modular frames becomes encased beams and heavy modular frames
its so good tbh
no, the one I use doens't use screws at all
only if you're using bolted frames which is the best mod frame recipe
sounds neat, last time i played i have a vauge memory u could completely remove the usage of screws, is that still a thing?
it's 2026 we're out here screwmaxing like champions now
i see cz it also uses rubber...
With me scaling up computers etc, I need to be mindful of resource efficiency because I don't need to be hailing basics across 6km.
buddy is screwin around
steeled frame + encased industrial pipe + heavy encased frame
thanks
those all overlap considerably
so you make steel pipe mostly and you're 75% of the way there
I wanna. Ah chocolate factory. But I uh cannot get that
