There are some nodes in the early game near certain starting locations where they spawn with a destructible rock on them, but you can still use portables to tap them if you don't mind it only being semi-automated until you get nobs.

you need to put them over foundation, or else their respawn points stay same (probably where you got them)
I got 7 doggos that never moved away or fell down
they even clip through foundation. i have 3 levels of foundation for them to safely fall through to now, and i guide them back up and around when they fall through.

ive done that before adn im fine with it but when the train track length limit is reached, i need to place the end on something and ive always placed that end on a level foundation, making the track slope up then go level and back and forth. I want to know if i can make the foundation point up so the track doesnt go up then level a million times

You can set up an extractor on each one of the oil nodes that are pure and extract 600 ^3m per minute from each If you fully overclock it. That's enough to power 4 fully overclocked refineries producing fuel, then you can set up 7 refineries producing turbofuel

It can be. But rarely needed.
I use it for a belt that I need to keep maxed out. If I use a normal merger, it will take 50/50 from primary and secondary source. That can make the primary stagger a bit.
But with the priority merger, it only takes from the secondary source if/when needed. Keeps the primary running smoothly.
Perhaps I can convert turbofuel to rf without stealing more sulfur.

Honestly, I just dedicate a factory build strictly to recycled plastic and rubber... that's all the fuel goes towards for that. And then will do diluted again for a power plant.

Dunno, But a train carriage holds 32 stacks... So if you need 500/min you get 1 stack a minute in the carriage. So you get 32 minutes. 15 minutes in each direction If you have something run at 500/min and it stacks at 100 you get 1/5th this time.. cause its hold 1/5th the count

kinda relieved that heavy copper modular frames aren't a thing

Irl they only use about 200 Megawatts but in game, a normal cyclotron will consume 5 times that much for a basic recipe like creating diamonds, so if we had an irl like particle accelerator in game then going off of the power consumption rules the game has, then we would need to be able to produce full and multiple Terawatts of power to run the machine

Best bet would be to check %localappdata%\FactoryGame\Saved\Crashes, look in the latest folder and check the FactolryGame.log. Scroll to the bottom to find the crash reason.

try turning off pre cache shaders in steam then delete shader folder for game then tum it back on

If you're trying to run a straight "deadhead" manifold, don't. Put your fluids in a loop. Either feed from both ends and distrobuted throughout if using >1 extractor, or, if only 1, provide a "loopback"

Does anyone here who plays on Steam Deck have a controller layout that supports the infinite nudge mod? I have built one but wondering if anyone has a layout I can compare it to, to see if it might be less complicated than the one I made. Right now, my setup is using K&M (that closely matches Coffee Stainโs official gamepad layout) with an action set for Nudge Controls.

I have never tried IN on the steamdeck. But I know on PC, it can be tricky as there are some times where the nudge direction changes depending on what side of the part you are on
So, imo, sloshing happens when pipes are not full. and, In long straight manifolds like that, typically it gets worse as you go towards the end of the manifold. What happens is when a pipe segment isn't completely full, it kills the flow rate to the next pipe. When you keep fluids in a loop, it seems that this allows the "main manifold [feed line]" to stay full, and so long as demand is not greater than the supply, the main line should remain full and provide an evenly distributed "pressure" to each machine.
Well, good to know itโs a pain in the arse on either side lol. I have been playing for 700 hours before I finally broke down and attempted a few mods. And now Iโve wasted all day fiddling with them when I could have just been enjoying my game ๐ญ๐คญ๐
There are, however, arguments against that I believe. But those "principles" have served me extremely well in every build.

On macOS the window is displayed as FactoryGameSteam-Win64-Shipping.exe, which is weird because that's not what it displays as under Linux in DRP
by loop, do you mean i connect the pipe network into one large circle/whatever shape then have a junction on one of the corners and feed the output from that junction? even putting a pump there aswell?
On macos itโs just the internal executable name being shown
it's pretty level with the source but the pipe does have to be full for the water to go over the small rise (I'm guessing)

So, firstly, remember, Pumps are "primarily" only for headlift (pushing fluids up). The also can be used to sort of "direct" flow, but that's a bit more tricky foo than needed imo.

Secondly, It can be "looped" a varity of different ways. Typically, my favorite "style" is very similar to the first suggestion for pllumbing on the Coal Generation page:

Yeah, give it a bit of time of course. Sometimes fluid issues can "sneak up" on you. Especially after "pre-filling", and by the time it shoulld be "balanced", there could be flow issues.

It's very easy to do so. Imo, start with small goals. Going massive and trying to build big can be enticing, but can get overwhelming very quickly.

I know this won't sound encouraging, but just do stuff. Every new thing you unlock, build the production chain from start to end. Even if it's dumb and the math is totally off, do machine into machine into machine. You'll internalize the steps and that forms your baseline for making much bigger projects
Be more concerned with starting out with one machines worth of an item. It may seem like getting 1000 of x item is taking forever, but that's because you're watching paint dry ๐คฃ . Go explore, decorate, play with all the tools/parts to build. You don't ever really "loose" anything in this game except time and items only when you sink or trash them.
I follow along a good playthrough with explanations, it really helps me understand the game fast.
I can say, no matter what ADA says, there is no achievement for speed running other than bragging rights. The game is meant to be "chill" and at your own pace.

The crashes are definitely more frequent than they ever have been. Iโve done all of the standard stuffโฆ and nothing helps. Soโฆ Iโll just put up with it, and reloadโฆ and hope future updates reduce crashes instead of making them more frequent.
Are you by chance working on bigger builds as well as utilizing the blueprint designer a lot more?
That's where I started noticing it. Though, admittedly a bit more with using the Mega blueprint designer mod as well. Main reason I use the Uobject counter mod, so I can know when to save and reload.

If you have Global Illumination / Lumen enabled, the other main option is using signs; remove text, set emission high.
Though they don't light as well with default engine config nowadays as they did pre-1.0

(If you don't have GI/Lumen enabled, they'll still look cool; signs can make for great decoration regardless. But they won't actually light things without GI)

See my second graph; since you're in Phase 4 you've got access to the Blender version which doesn't require the packaging loop

For reference, you actually need far fewer canisters than you might think for the packaging loop. You can do them in "closed" loops of 2x Packager + 1x Refinery, and each loop only needs like 20-30 canisters at most
where the wiki says to look.
But since you're in Phase 4 anyway, I'd recommend using the Blender version where you don't even have to worry about that. :)

quick question, im using satisfactory modeler on steam but, if i have a node that is 4.5 of a bulding and i overclock it and it says "112 1/2" and now it says 4, does that mean one building is overcocked to 112% or half of the 4, or all of them
It will be 112.5 for the clock rate for all four machines
A "trick" I use to figure out the least amount of machines needed is to just overclock to 250. If not a whole number, I just hit the minus once and it automatically rounds the machine number
what you can do is separate it into 2 nodes, one that is overclocked efficiently and the other non overclocked, not necessary but can be helpful later
I personally don't like that it displays fractions though. Just want it all to be decimal rounded to the ten thousands.

I don't view it like that. I just look at total input of item (Or maybe total output, but I usually work backwards) and just figure out the lleast amount of machines to make said amount. Use modeler to set whatever max clock rate, and then copy paste among the machines. Also, for almost everything, I tend to merge in the center of the machines instead of manifolding to just one end.
Like, for max pure copper from a pure node, I don't remember how many refineries atm, but i know it works out to like a perfect four sections of like 750 or something . So can do it with mk5 belts.

๐คทโโ๏ธ This is definately more of a "second playthrough" mentailty maybe. But, I just go "big" on power right out the bat, so it's never an issue for me.
Like, on my second playthrough, as soon as I unlocked solid biomass, I already had like 4 sloops and some sam, and I get slooping unlocked early. Build a two story Biomass farm of usually 12 burners, two floors. And sloop biomass production so I have to gather much less. And then go hearty on coal in the lake just north of the grass lands, and then big oil power, etc. Again, i like to explore and collect early and make sure power isn't ever an issue any more. (Sorry for wall)
so with heavy oil alt and diluted fuel you can have 64 gens
with just a fuel recipe you can have 16 gens
with just heavy oil you can have 21.33 gens (26.67 refinerys)

Like, an example would be fore extractors.. we know that a typical CG plant with 8 gens takes 3 extractors, but, if you wanted to be frugal with power, 4 @90% is more "economical"

@sullen gullive used similar software for factorio, and you can select key nodes, which if you dont supply hem with what they need it shows red connections as an error that neeeds fixing, modeler just says "well cant do that, not telling what you did wrong but il give yo uthis much instead of what you asked for"

Point is, however you have the rest of the chain setup, you are trying to force it to do math it can't do. You need somewhere for the "excess" to go.

I'm like 50 smth hours into my save. Still on tier 3 trying to get things to work better. Just expanded my coal power grid to go around making more dedicated factories. Just tore down my old builds, (what was I even thinking back then???), and made better stuff.
It also frequently leads to burnouts because people tear down inefficient designs and rebuild their better idea just to do it again in the next phase with better belts
