You can be better to split the rplate / rotor into seperate factories. Then combin the outputs to make smart plate.

So like take an iron node, make as much rplate as you can from that node, repeat the same for rotor and then build the smart plate factory between the two factories
Finally found Sam and got my uploads working 💪 makes life so much easier

Its ok if they are far apart, but in th elocal area they need to be on a consistant grid...
if it's just the same factory or a couple factories right next to each other I'll zoop out a foundation to line them up when I build the second part
but if my factories are all the way across the world and I want to line up a skyroad (I'm a skyroad enjoyer) then global grid makes it a lot easier
world grid of course gives you a simple way to make it consistant on x/y but not z
the other trick I like assuming you're already doing global grid to line up skyroads is you can turn on debug to see coordinates and make the height line up from both end correctly
i try to avoid sky ramps etc..
i try.. to stay close ot the ground.. mostly failing of course

i find different build approaches works in different sections or areas of the game. There isn't a one rule fits all sort of deal
you're right there are at least three rules that fit all situations
- Use as many vehicle as possible
- Use lots of colors everywhere
- Pick recipes at random using a dice, coin, etc
Use good abstractions, Isolate problems, Make buildings (or floors, or groups) that do one thing well
factory carts are what enable all 3 of your rules so they fit under number one

im gonna start a new save thats for the whole Christmas vacation and see how long in the game i get
I did T9 in 80 hours (not rushed) to give you something to aim for

imma try but itll prob go to like 100 hrs or sum
with deconstructing crash sites and stuff like that now I'd think you could go really fast with some dedicated explorers

yeah that made it a lot simpler... also if you didn't notice in the above screenshots, oil was brought to grass fields rather than then plastic / rubber
the speedrun meta already used a lot of the debris around sites and with tearing them down now you get tons of stuff to scale early-mid faster too

The trick to a fast game is nailing rplate, rotor early and also being able to jump to solid steel ingot

So. A late game impure node will do 300/min. So if you hvae 2 its 600/min. Which is hte same as a normal node late game

Also in early game, keep collecting leaves and wood for fuel (the obstacle clearing milestone in t2 will help with its unlocked tool, the chainsaw)

So see early game concrete for example... if you have a normal node (60) and a impure node (30). and the machines want 45..... whats (60/2) + (30/2) = 45 + 45 ... this is also an example of node pureity...
If you get obstacle clearing, convert all that biomass into solid biofuel to make your biomass burners even more efficient

What changes is peoples building style ends up completly different and as you progress though the game you use resources in the wrong places messing you up

Also I would recommend getting either some power storages, or use priority switches to make sure power keeps flowing to the pumps/mines for the coal power, and the fuel refineries

There is many options... depends on where you are
When you’re just getting started on oil production
If you do a standard plastic/rubber you have 10xref each and you have like 7.5ref's for HOR -> Pet coke -> Sink this.... initially
Oh I did HOR->res. Fuel->powerrrr
Getting starts is 300/min crue -> plastic + 300/min crube -> rubber = 300/min HOR -> Pet Coke -> Sink (This unlocks most things for you after a while in the awesom sink)
Flipt he ref's that deal with HOR -> Fuel -> Fuel generators when done. Now you entire oil setup is self sustaining on its own power supply
You can also split some off to make packaged fuel etc...
Useful for trucks, jetpack etc.. (but biofuel better)
Or turbo fuel

Trains are good, I suggest double track, pick a consistent side to drive on eg left / right.... the rest can be mixed eg back and forth or loops
Yeah I have a bunch of point to point tracks at ground level rn but converting them to double is too much of a pita. Building an elevated track that goes around the outside of the map and then I can build offshoots that go into the map

so yesterday I was told most players don't make trains that carry more than one item. So a train just for copper sheets, a train just for circuit boards etc.
For those that do that, is there a point of making a railway circuit? Or do they just have one railway that goes back and forth with two locomotives

a train car carriers 32 stacks. So if the stack size is 100. You get 3200 items in a train. So at 300/min This takes 10 minutes to fill.You loose 32 seconds per fill and 32 per unload. So you loose about 1 minute. So 9 minutes/2 (both direction of travel) is about 4 minute travel time for the train. Which means 300/min with 100stack size = about 2 bioms worth of transport
So its not as nonsensical as @hard ivy thinks

- none of my trains have even close to a 10 min rtd, and some go halfway across the map
- not everything you transport stacks to 100

But the ramp... it would take up (there is 6 layers in that) so about 70 foundations long
I think I normally use a 7x7 cross for supporting my spirals but I'd have to go actually find one and check to be sure
Im trying to merge 8 furnaces with a decently high output, but normal mergers are too clubky with the way they merge, generating alot of stoppage, any idea if smart mergers are better?
if you have more inputs into the mergers than output somethnig is going to get stuck

The most likely issue is that the belt you're using is too slow. In that case, priority mergers won't do anything

Its floating point... its for the same reason in computers if you sorts a list of numbers from high to small and from low to high and sum them you get two different answers

nope, floating point numbers are an approximation and they often don't represent whole numbers very well so you get fracitonal error. So when you keep adding numbers you get the wrong answer... this is very well understood in computer science / programmers

Very simple example of finite maths. Is 1 / 3 (splitter). Gets you 0.333333 reoccuring. You join them you get 0.999999 you never get back to 1. So if you do a calculation like this at 25 times per seconds. The error soon builds up. This is of course a laymans eplanation, Floating point has more complex problems where the combination of the exponent and mantissa can't actually represent certain numbers.

We see it in the game all the time..... like if you take a mk3 miners and hook them up to a sink and drive the belt at full speed. You will end up getting a stack in the smelter... "some of the time". We have known this about the game for a long time, it doesn't make the game unplayable because it runs to the 99.9% of whats needed to make the game work, but it does tend to bother people because they have a backlog on a machine and don't know why and thats because the belts don't do what they state.

Yeah, Its too dynamics to have do a complete design. Tool are not good enough, cloest thing that would come to simulation of a design tool would be circuit board design tools.
gotta love that moment when you overbuild your modular factories so much that they're near enough to eachother you realize you can just... belt stuff over pretty trivially, and accidentally made a megafactory...
in that regard your only option is to use something for the ratios and then plan out the factory by blocking

eg Cirtcuit board design tools follow multiple layers, no overlapping belts(wire in the case of a circuit board). and you have ot get things like power, information channels to every compeonts (machines)

It can but rocket fuel is a hell of a lot simpler to provide power needs because with nuclear you pretty much gotta pipe, conveyor, train, or drone in nearly every resource in the game just to power the nuclear reactors, more so if you want clean nuclear without waste.

1 product per train, 1 source 1 offload station each, train only leaves when empty/full, most efficent setup

I'm setting up a train back and forth between 3 base. First of all it's bigger than i though, secondly do i need to set something up beside stations? cause my freight isn't filling up or loading the train

steam deck is a PC internally so you'd be able to play together if they buy it on the steam deck, but not if they buy on PS5
or at least I'm pretty sure the steam deck counts as PC for crossplay since it does use steam

WHY DO MY VEHICLES NOT WORK I'm trying to use factory carts to deliver resources between factories, and I recorded two paths, one for each item I'm trying to deliver. The carts are supposed to stop at different truck stations, but they always stop at both stations.

clean energy by definition is one that doesnt produce a hazardous byproduct as a result of generation, a common misconception is that nuclear is clean, its not, and as someone said earlier, in theory it could be, but its not anyway

Nuclear has been studied to be a lot safer than people think it to be, its just that people clutch on to past incidents way too hard. The biggest pitfall in an accident is bad management.
Hell, Nuclear has its own safety requirements as part of standards when it comes to equipment acquisiton, which are stricter than any other generation

Depends if you want the hub to be connected to your factory or not. I have mine near my prospective Space Elevator location. But everything is coming in by train or drone, so it's more about making it accessible to that.
this playthrough im planning on just getting some roads up and using tractors to transport materials to the central storage
personally I think that central storage is outclassed by dimensional depot

Not necessarily, there's a few opportunities for it to be cached. First opportunity is any gif hosting site will likely be behind something like cloudflare, and there's also a high likelihood that discord itself pulls the file and presents it directly for preview, so the source only gets hit if someone clicks it

It took me soo long to learn how to build good in this game... the pieces are so huge compared to like minecraft. Modular blueprints and building large scale cracked the code
