IMO the objectively best way to deal with items like screws and quickwire is to produce them from ingots a meter away from the machine that is consuming them, and don't merge the screw inputs of multiple machines. That way the extreme compression/decompression of item count is working for you, rather than against you.

I've been able to fix that on buildings by making a ladder hole in foundations or catwalks, using clipping techniques, but the top of a ladder built into something like a container, machine or tower, that's just not available. Some games give you a prompt and an animation to mount a ladder from the top, that seems like a reasonable solution.

i have 200 water coming in from 2 extractors and it goes straight to the refinery about 40m up with lots of pumps. right next to 4 other pipes that all run perffectly fine

generally full screen will give you better fps in any situation, because with windowed mode the desktop and other windows still need to be calculated, even if they are behind/hidden, but if there is 1 full screen application, the rest are completely ignored for display purpose
