Trains and drones are kinda fiddly and not everyone wants to engage with those parts of the game.
they're more effort than conveyors and don't do anything conveyors can't
drones need fuel and don't carry a lot. Trains require you to build train lines, which can be a lot of resources and stuff.

They need to be supplied with fuel, yes, and recording the route in a way that's "good" can take some practice
Several reasons:
They work well when you dont have them rendered in, but if you have a lot of them, and you are in the area, the bumps start happening
Second, Trucks and Tractors are good for stuff in a single biome, rarely will you cross biomes with them. With that in mind, you're better off building belt highways to factories within the same biomes anyway.
They also use fuel, which is another logistics chain to have to worry about, and by the time you scale up to the point where it aint a big deal, trains are a thing
Though personally I'd rather do that than run kilometers of belts. :)
I have yet to find the button to make conveyors honk 
when i last played (a couple days ago) there was only an option to rotate the branch but not flip it, leading to it only being possible to split front and left but never front and right (also leading to it only merging front and right but not merging front and left, and i dont believe you can rotate around an axis that would flip it either
Plus then you get lots of fun vehicles trundling around the map on their own. It's great!
I will say though, again, @swift kernel showed me their world and the trucks/tractors DO work very well

I think Satisfactory collects a lot of players who are very strong-willed do-it-myself organise-things-obsessively types. And we don't all play the same way.

Vehicles partially get a bad rap because there was a period in EA where vehicles could deadlock, which made them not great for reliable production lines. That basically can't happen nowadays, though.
true, belts should honk if they get stuck
theres 2 kinds of rotation:
before you click once and after you click once.
after clicking once so it snaps to the hypertube, you can scroll to rotate it around the pipe.
that way you get front and left or front and right
Train states "there is no path" despite having already gone said path and the path just being "forward". It's a two-headed train.
(Just make sure to delete any blue "pause node" after recording a track, if you accidentally paused for a bit while recording. Vehicles can deadlock on those)
Maybe the game needs geese, to add more honking.

every buildable in the game that needs 2 clicks to build usually has a seperate movement mode that becomes active if you click once to lock it in place
you can try using valves and buffers
I would strongly recommend never making single track trains, there is no repathing and you can easily deadlock trains

There is a clever signalling solution to allow two trains to operate on the same single-track system, though I don't know if you can scale it up to three+
any way to get more of em
(though yes, I'd also recommend dual-track solutions. :)
you can technically scale bi-di as much as you want, but eventually you're gonna end up with one train every hour. the throughput of bi-di is terrible

I have 100's of hours of working with trains, have helped a ton of people, and STILL occasionally run into glitches with trains
And, without fail, anyone who does single lane tracks who has asked for help, it hasnt gone well to say the least
single track being a loop? or a single track being a single train that runs on a single track with an empty hold?
When you build tracks, I highly recommend making a BP that allows you to place two lanes next to each other, so any number of trains can go in a single direction, both ways.
This model allows you to scale up the number of trains in a given network with little to no interference.
Just ensure you place block signals going in both directions each time you place a BP down to keep trains moving and grooving

And by next to each other, I mean 1 foundation of space between them. So the BP would have 3 foundational widths with the middle being blank, and the outer edges being where the track is
you can do 2 foundations wide, but the turns need to be tight
correct, though I like the extra width for newer players to avoid those kind of hard restrictions
Once you get good funamentals down, you can play with the tight tracks, which look awesome
Iβll just ignore that and keep malding whenever my trains stop to stare longingly into each otherβs eyes
just don't put signals on the bi-di parts
I did eventually just separate the tracks way sooner and it works so far
my slooping is working perfectly other than for project part. Any one else having issues here also? Put in enough parts to make 1000 of the smart plating (500 reinforced iron plates and 500 rotors with sloops doubling it), came out to just shy of 900 made.
sloops only take effect after one cycle has been completed. but <900/1000 sounds like you didn't put in enough

Whatever, once I finish my nuclear setup and quadruple check if it works, Iβll automate the shards
if you pick the recipie after you have the shards in there it will double the first one also
you should've gotten 999 if you didn't have the assembler run a cycle with sloops in before making the smart plating
agreed, should have. it was working like that until i went to build my coal power plant that is far from where i am. when i came back it was way off. just finished at 877
still will take that over having to supply the 1k of each but was seeing if any one else was having this issue. my pc has a lot of ghosts in it and prob just something on my end.

I'm playing 1.1 on Linux MInt, through Steam/Proton, and there's no game audio or music at all. I have checked that the audio is enabled in-game and turned up, and audio works in other programs, including other Windows games run through Proton. When I look in the system audio mixer, it also does show FactoryGame as an audio source, that just doesn't play anything.
Any suggestions to what might be the cause, or ideas for fixes?
if you turn your support pillars into blueprints with rails on top, you can auto-connect the rails and speed it up

The front refinaries (a) take 600 water, the back refinaries (b) makes 420
plus the 180 water from extractors (w) should even out.
Yet for some reason the buffer fills to full and the production stops...
first probably wrong guess: a misplaced mk1 pipe
without dynamic supply, any fluctuation in scrap production for any reason will cause the buffer to fill slowly

First, everything except biomass can be 100% automated (and even biomass can get very close)
Second, your priorities in this game, for the whole game, will be as follows:
- Power Grid, isolated and ideally a little ways away from factories
- Aggressive MAM research, you should be nose deep in the MAM at all times pushing unlocking stuff and scanning hard drives
- Whatever you want

There is an alt recipe that ||allows you to take just iron ingots and make it into screws, called a Cast Screw|| and by collecting alt recipes, you can be much, much more efficient

yea going to have to try reinstalling satisfactory, not only do i have that sloop issue, but also destroyed rock debris doesn't go away and hatchers dont attack (have them hostile).
Think kinda like in the real world, liquids will flow along a pipeline, and only need help when goign up elevation.
Recommendation to you is to bring solids, such as coal/quartz/etc TO water, versus water to them

For example, spoilers, ||Assuming you mean the grasslands when you say beginner area, there is a lake to the NW in the biome, it has 4 coal nodes and is right next to a lake. You should be building your first real power plant there, then running power back to your "main" area||

Hope my comment about belt spaghetti wasn't taken too harshly, I follow a pretty strict aesthetic.
Belts and pipes at the center of foundations, splitters/mergers almost every time a belt needs to turn.

i find myself compelled to collect slugs if i see them, particularly early game, so i never have an issue
check if the machine has the No power message, then check the imput pipe
I unlocked jetpack before parachutes
also you can sloop them now and get twice the shards

There appears to be an off-by-one error in version 418783 when loading a color preset for new map markers. i.e. Selecting combo box index 1 will load the values for index 0, and so on.

Your coal plants stay as they are. All you need is to connect them with wire.

you can start with one pure node in a zone for power, the rest for resources, keep the coal power and make compacted coal

if you can't make it yet, you can use wood and leaves until you learn a recipe in the constructor. If you dont have the recipe, then you need to complete more HUB milestones/
For a starter fuel setup you can do the basic Crude oil -> fuel recipe and then you just feed that fuel directly to the generators. Remember that you need to deal with the polymer resin byproduct in one way or another: either by stuffing them into an awesome sink or turning them into rubber or plastic with the residual recipes.

Also a quick tip: craft a big stack of portable miners. You can place down several of them on the same node. And then just periodically go and collect their yield and then hand feed it into the machines. If you use a container for input you don't have to do it often.
It can save you some power in the beginning and makes it easier to set up parallel production lines with splitters

that I already do, all my factories are made from raw (holdover from Dyson Sphere Program), but my question was for the resouces you will use to build the factories to begin with, do you also have a factory that just make them or you steal from the production line of a factory
Dont you need to finish the game in the tutorial zone before going to the next biome, then rinse and repeat to unlock each successive one?
It's all one big map, and there are several areas good for starting over that you can go out and explore.

I normally mainly build in the west part of the map but for my 1.1 playthrough I wanted to try something new so I started in the eastern part of the northern forest. And ohh boy the monsters in the titan forest are scary when the most potent weaponry I have is the basic rebar and nobelisk

Fauna will always respawn if there is no powered structure close by afaik.
I've gone full circle and I'm back in the Grassy Fields. I'm using tractors everywhere here because it's so flat. Amazing

But you could try running a line through the road over where you are having the spawn and try.

Btw speaking of combat. Any tips or tricks for getting better at dealing with the most dangerous enemies? I normally use either explosive rebars, homing ammo rifle, or basic nobelisk.

That's about it. Some like to make "combat huts" or whatever,
Hit them with a stun bar and cover them in explosives.
Homing ammo isn't that great for damage, turbo is much better at a medium acceleration

I usually whack a leg with a zeno zapper and they scamper off. Unless they don't. THen they just seem to be completely stuck and 15 more whacks take care of it :/

boombox has a turbobass trigger which is great for getting rid of the beans
stun is just kinda slow and obnoxious. Just use homing ammo and use terrain to your advantage
And for popping flies!

Turbo just feels so slow at the beginning. And my aim is horrible. But could be worth trying out again
2k hours in and just last week I realised that I can sneak up on them and they don't activate at all

I remapped my crouch to control because I refuse to get with the times.
Only issue is then you need to remap a couple other things, but it's much easier on the hands.
