I'm running into an interesting issue when trying to create a fully automated high tech factory. In short, I need a LOT of high tech items to build it. Especially trigons and time cubes for Mk6 belts due to it needing HUGE amounts of raw materials. Luckily I had a bunch saved up from my hand fed micro factories when doing phase 5. But if doing a full start from scratch... I can see that being a much bigger roadblock, requiring a bit of annoyance in having to make a smaller high tech factory to build the larger one.

what's the point of nodes having purity classes if i can just circumvent them with power shards
you cant
you're still limited by belt speeds, and it takes shards and more power.
Because that 60/m normal node can do 120 with shards and so on. They still retain their levels all the way up
the point is you can still use crappy nodes later in the game
like when u need 500 iron per min its just an impure node
a little more than an impure but about the same
for most of the way up the tiers your real miner limit will be belt speed. Except for impure nodes, often it'll be less than your fastest belt
can the output from a truck station be used to load to the space elevator for stage needed items?

Just now I am belting up 4800 coal and I'm having to use 3 pure 1 normal and two impure to get it all in a relatively small area.

If you overclock at 200% that's 2×30 (base) = 60
If you had put that on a normal purity miner you'd get 120 ore/minute...

well that's what happens when you mix items. There's nothing to 'disagree' with, you need a sink for mixed belts to work on delivery like that

the only way to avoid this sort of thing is to not have a mixed belt
but even in that case eventually your production line will back up if you're not sinking production
Depends on the case, in come cases you don't care of the machines just stop working till you empty the storage, other cases it's critical that they never stop working and you need to use a sink to absorb the overflow.
i make sure all my stuff is 100% efficient.

resources are infinite in the game so either you'll sink items and not have a paused factory, or you don't sink items and the factories will be paused and still not making those items you could have sunk

if you're main production continuously runs and goes to sinks, not only does it generate a lot of sink points but it also allows you to plan power use, detect factory problems, etc a bit easier
Cause you never know when you'll need extra stators
even if youre making exactly as many stators as necessary for motor production
if your motor storage fills up then the input will back up

theyre only used as an intermediary material in some recipes
if the sushi belt isn't being delivered by vehicles once it's stablised you can remove the sink though

The industrial storage and sinks are designed to stick out so that they can be fed to the next process easily

Heh yeah always upcycle if you can, after a while sinking things like plats or frames becomes worthless. EIther use them to make more of something else or underclock you machines so you are not making any excess at all.

Loaded into 1.0 world in 1.1 server after upgrading, and the respawn menu is stuck, even after I relaunch game and server

not like other games unfortunately, no infinite research or resource sinks for factory beyond the awesome link, factorio and foundry have better endgame content mechanics atm

No and no. It doesn't take that many resources to just finish the game. Just don't overbuild.
And the reason it's 2 biomes is that no single biome has all the resource types (at least not that I could find)
you are forgetting the awesome shop, you could easily pick up items there that you can't get in your single biome challenge
It would probably go against the spirit of the game to actually implement "end game", as other factory building games have it.
Though I think it would be fun to have objectives to continue to send resources into the space elevator, this is a factory building game and I would like other objectives besides running things into awesome sink to get more points and coupons

I wish they did because the current post-endgame is a joke. Ficsonium that's way too expensive to ever be worth it? Ionized fuel that's a net negative in terms of power compared to the rocket fuel it's made of? Matrices that only become worth it after 0.5 TW?
The problem with this game is that unlike other factory building games that do have endings, they also have end-game content past that, this game however basically doesn't have it, meaning even though the factory most grow, we aren't exactly given any reasons to do it.
I'm hoping the devs eventually give something, they have already said 1.1 isn't the end, so I want to remain hopeful that end game content might eventually come at some point
That doesn't necessarily make anything bad though.

I don't have an issue with the lack of a practical incentive to do anything after phase 5. My issue is that there's no real reason to do anything.
I can put this into contrest to factorio, where you do have reason for the factory most grow past end game, because it actually has end game content, whereas this game simply put does not
There are a lot of games that are like that though. Finish the "goal" set by the game. Then you are free to do whatever you want to the game in however way you want. If you can't make end game goals for yourself... then just make a new save or play something else?
The only thing you can do is build ridiculous factories. Which is fine for items, but if you want power, none of the endgame options are useful. It's all rocket fuel, and maybe uranium, both phase 4 power sources

You could probably get by on fuel if you use all the oil right but late game machines get pretty hungry. Nuclear just becomes the better option

As for satisfactory, you can really benefit from starting over a few times and trying diff starting areas. The world is the same, just very large

Yea my favorite route is east though. Bit longer but better view. Always build a hypertube network from grassy to the blue crater. So shouldnt be too bad to continue that to the swamp>dunes
yea, and swamps will be a good stop later game for nuclear productions
Ig kinda depends too, if you want to build in a central area of the map or if your main base will be in grassy
would it be realistically possible to make satisfactory basements in this game? by somehow having the visuals for the earth be removed by some method or when building a certain way.
it's not an issue building below the map, but you would have issues with seeing the grass and rocks when taking an elevator down below ground right.

i usually dont have a main base realistically, i have a factory for each phase, im starting a new one soon for T 5 and 6 so ill prolly just do a kind of network with stops around it
but you want an elevator, and that would clip through the ground visually
i adressed that, i know, the building part is very easy, but then you see the earth still, and you could not make a staircase that looks nice from above.
No map editing as of yet. Its always possible modding may have some way but probably not

u can just use train that clipped to the underground
again, i know, it's easy to build underground, the issue is the collision and visuals of the ground every time you wanna go below.
My underground structures are enclosed, and surface access is via shaft.

I tested elevators in experimental, you can't transition the ground layer in either direction, you get bumped from the lift car and get stuck in the shaft.

Hypertubes have been my default access, and floor holes through an 8x4 metal grip foundation at the transition spot, not brilliant but I do what I can.

Regardless, no clipping and seeing through terraign goes back years. Even MC has a way of doing it. But its not usually something a team would implement on purpose. Quite the opposite usually
The change to UE5 made going under the map marginally more difficult, the old aim a tube directly at the ground stopped working and you could no longer freely pass through the ground from below, not that it stopped me 🤷♂️

They should avoid it happening by accident, but by design and intention it is fine in a PVE sandbox game.
imagine that glass floor in a world where you have removed the ground visually, so you can see the whole basement factory from the first floor, so cool

yeah so i made sure its got 8888 and 7777 port forwarded and i restarted but it stil is showing the respawn screen ui over the game even after i load in from the dedicatged server
Use the new -ReliablePort=8888 to explicitly set the new port.

Because that 8888 is often used by something else and the game switches automatically to use some port up from that.

Point is that they could have selected ANY port between 1024 and 65535.
And they chose 8888, which is somewhat commonly used.
Where the 7777 for the older port is UE default.

If you make random folders to store unrelated server files inside a server, does that affect anything?
Or like if I want to store different versions/informational/ini documents, can you have say... engine.ini and TESTengine.ini in the same location without them interferring?
For example
Unless specific directory has millions of files, no effect outside of the disk space used.
And even for directories with way too many files, only effects trying to access that directory.
Not anything else on the same drive/partition.
Appreciate it, i run some game servers where I need some version control, putting them inside the same file structure would save some headache Lol

Hey guys can train have 2 stations and go from A to B back and furth without making a loop at the end of the station? like go backwards?
Yea. Makes sure the stations are both facing the opposite way - round part out.
Then build a loco on each end of the freight cars so they can push and pull as needed.
The issue im facing is i can move the train from A to B but when it comes to B it says A is unreachable i tried to flip the direction of the station

I'd need three, and the setup would look like crap, is one shaft really too much to ask for, the bloody lift car has buttons for 20 floors, but I can't use it in an 18 floor structure 😡

That said, the individual floors aren't excessive either, that's why I don't get the lift shaft limitation, yet allows for 20 stops, it just doesn't compute.
The one structure of mine where even uncapping the lift shaft wouldn't work is my support tower 🤣 , that thing has alien power augmenters on the grond floor, and 24 floors of power stores, too many for the lift controls 😄

Hey, i can't seem to figure out how the blueprint autoconnect feature works. I am in the right build mode, but it places the blueprint down instantly upon left click instead of the auto connect mode

- you need belts sticking out of mergers/splitters/machines, so the game knows which tier of belt to use
- you need to bring the blueprint close, but not touching, and have link icons show up to initiate the AC
- click with link icons showing to confirm connections, click without icons to place
Yeah i had teh sticking out of mergers, but it seems you also need them in to mergers as well.
And how do i get cables and power poles to connect?
I think its possible, after all I have seen some evidence in the past the collision with the world geometry and tied to the save file structure itself. Though I never got down into the real details of these cases but I have seen examples of saves in the past, where certain saves did have permanently broken terrain collision geometry that wasn't present in other save files. So it might be possible, but I couldn't say for certain without really looking into the details.

there is enough hdds to get all alts, you can just keep the recipe in queue, that allows you to get the recipes you want faster
so i dont need to pick the reward now and leave it for later when i actually need alt recipes

pipes are weird. are you trying to move fluid between different heights? Base headlift is only ten meters
no it is a straight line after some headlift but it just has a spinny thing where it normally shows that fluid is in the pipe

I know they added blueprint autoconnect in general, but I wasn't sure whether rail always could.

Well, its GLORIOUS. Makes railroad building actually fun rather than fairly tedious.
It unfortunately causes the rail to lose its "electric" property so if you're using the hoverpack you just drop when you build the next rail section
part of the new patch and probably the best part of it

Last night I was building a train around the desert biome, and I got halfway done which took about 3 hours, and I was thinking to myself, I'm not sure how people manage to do these huge rails networks across the entire map without getting very tired lol. Then after I figured out how to rail autoconnect, I did another quarter in ~10mins.
yeah, it must have taken much longer before. I did build some raillines back in the day but never a big network
and i didn't realise until recently that there's two auto-connect modes, default and blueprint. With the latter you can have blueprints go up against each other and connect belts/rails to the edge of the blueprint. So good!

It does, but Steam is still by default in mode where it converts any controller input into emulated mouse & keyboard.
Need to disable Steam Input for the game to disable that.
As the game didn't have controller support before 1.1, and Steam defaults haven't catched up yet to the new state.

so i'm not far in, i'm at the tractor phase. when i upgrade miners and belts that knocks production numbers all off. so is it viable to put all smelted ore into containers and branch out from there? In theory it sounds easier
what i personally do when i get mk2 miners especially is rebuild my factory, sounds tedious but imo it makes the management and usage of raw resource easier

It was a factory that had plenty of backlog of inventory going out, its output didn't dry up until recently.
Still not sure how you end up with a factory output and inventory mixing up
btw do you use steam or epic
Let me rephrase, then: The output was being collected in a storage container. That is what I was labelling as inventory. The container was quite full, then eventually, because the quantum computers were holding up the process, the storage dried up.

I just use 300 inventory slots, infinite nudge and utility pak for flying
you dont need mods for extra inventory slots
you can do that using calculator
and some extra handslots
theres now vertical nudge so there isnt too much need for infinite nudge
utility pack sounds a bit cheesy to the game progression
nudge limit removal and vertical nudge helps me so much with building railways
vertical nudge is built in
