It already takes up a lot of inventory. There's no reasonable reason for it to be destroyed and it's annoying task work to have to provide a rope and then get a pelt each time. Trope wise in fantasy fiction people don't destroy their 'bed rolls,' throughout the night. If mechanically it is somehow to advantageous for it to be repeatable, allow us to repair, or let us craft better ones that stick around. However given the the resources you are depriving yourself of by taking it, I think it's more than fair that you get to keep it instead of destroying it.
#Allow the bed roll to be picked up

The reason behind it is to stop savescumming
Because if you can use it multiple times many people will buy one, place it on the dungeon entrance and kill a room, save, kill the next room, save, rinse repeat ad naseum
If people are gonna save scum they can do it anyway, it's pretty easy
Its a deliberate choice
How so? save exiting and then coppying the saved file?
Yea I think the enforcing of rules is actually hurting the QoL of the game in this instance
you just take the last save you had and come back, you don't need a bed roll to do it
just alt f4
if it's that easy to cicumvent, it might as well not be in place at all if that's the reason
stoneshard takes 2 seconds to load on my godawful laptop
The wording of the devs is that quicksaving mitigates the consequence of dying and people will just spam shit against a boss until they get lucky instead of trying to engage the boss in an inteligent manner
Doesnt mean the devs want that included to the game
If i modifie a T1 weapon to have insane stats doesnt mean the game should be change
What typa argument is this, "oh if its cheesy why not add more cheesy things"
I hear you, but my point (which stands from our earlier conversation) is that we are free to say hey, this rule you made kinda blows and can we change it please?
It's an appeal. They are free to make their choice.
Yeah there is also the devs choice and what they have said
breaking a bed roll by laying on it is way cheesier than anything I'm suggesting
And i think the point of quicksaving or savescuming mitigating the consequences of death is a great point
they are also capable of changing their minds, no?
that's what the process is all about I would think, but maybe I'm wrong and we have no say
There are some absolute things
You don't really have the authority to make that call bud
Like no co op, no necromancy or sanguimancy for the player
No but the devs have that
I don't get the point here, do you want to make the devs add a more easier save scum method
And as I said they are capable of changing their minds
so stop speaking for them as if it's absolute and just let people post suggestion without making a fuss
Not making a fuss, just said why its not the case
I'm sure that's why you spam piggy emotes, because you're just a reasonable guy
you didnt even argued agains the point i made, making death less impacting since you can just savescum until you win in luck
Dawg what is this guys problem🙏😭 he's just sharing the devs thought on this
Yea man
Thoughts that they have shared multiple times
you have zeor class
"zero class" didn't you say he was a n*zi?
As a joke, i asume
a poor taste one
He might be one of those trolls surely
Or those rage bait dudes
Did he leave the server?
Lol
no way bro makes a steam forum post about this
He blocked you
I guess he got mad when i called him out for the N*zi thing
Oh wait no he did
He's still in the server
Discord lagged
He really doesn't like larry the lobster

I don't blame him
I guess Larry struck a nerve
I mean i just say what wont be implemented
make a smaller bedroll for inventory
There is usually no need for that since you place it at the start of the dungeon before you even loot
Even early game i havent had issues with that, you arent filling your inventory with food, meds and supplies
You generally take a bedroll in order to use it
Thats the point of bringing it?
maybe u figure out it wasnt needed afterall and u wanna save it for next dungeon
I usually save before entering the dungeon
im permadeath
Then why bedrolls?
fatigue?
Fair
I mean I like the idea, but save scumming.. instead as a compromise maybe you can make limited use to 2 or 3 instead of 1
besides if it doesnt get added.. im sure someone will probably mod it into existence
There is a mod that makes them re-usable, but not to Pick them up currently
No reusable bedrolls. Learn from your mistakes, and die less often.
Preparing for dungeons is part of the gameplay - if you’re not coming in strapped to the teeth with nets claw traps potions and whatever else you’re setting yourself up for failure.
It’s not about preventing it. It’s about communicating to the player what is and isn’t part of the intended experience. Easy, on demand saving is not part of the intended experience.
The bedroll as a whole is an artifact from before when we had the caravan.
It’s purpose was to allow you to sleep off fatigue when searching for lategame dungeons out in the wilderness. Without it you physically couldn’t clear them because the nearest inn is a quarter of the way across the map, and you’d enter the dungeon with 20% fatigue just from walking.
It’s not meant to be a moving save point.
That being said, Sleeping bags could be made reusable if they did NOT save the game for you
In any single player game, even if you play HC, you can always save scum by making a backup of your save when the game isn't open...
By that logic, maybe no dev should make HC a thing because it is never a thing. Or somehow, they hack your PC and automatically delete your backup if you decide to save scum.
Yes. To be clear. My argument is not that save scumming should be impossible - it should never be part of the intended gameplay experience.
Pretty sure that second option is illegal, so I was just jesting.
No prob, I wasn't replying to you, dw. 🙂
There is no practical way to do that
hack PC? Nah, that's just me jesting. That is illegal and impossible.
There can be a way... like, if someone makes a local save but that save must communicate with the game server to be validated before it can be used, etc... But that's not single player anymore.
or if your save file isn't exactly local...
anyway, keeping to the topic... picking up a bedroll is a definite no.
There is a way to implement that legally but it would still be pointless because the user can store backups on a removable storage like a flash drive, and insert the backups into the game while the game is off. As such this is pointless to implement
I’m fine with it being reusable if sleeping in one doesn’t save the game. I agree that bedrolls being destroyed by sleeping in them is nonsense. I know some people are rough sleepers but damn
