Rarely, at 6 AM when the day begins, the character will experience significant morale loss for no reason.
I was spamming tanner's drinking barrel in Mannshire when it occurred, but repeating the same steps didn't allow me to reproduce the issue. Another user ran into same issue before me but I don't remember who, one or two hot fixes prior. It seemed to occur at exact moment of sunrise.
Reloading the save I made at 4 AM seemingly eliminated the issue for now.

Yeah that happened while I was walking towards a dungeon. I think it happened at sunrise for me as well.
I tried to reproduce it on some of the nearby tiles but couldn't. I was in Mannshire when it happened and couldn't reproduce after loading the save. Where were you exactly?

I didn't backup the save where the issue popped, and reloading prevented it from occurring anyway...

Exactly 10% situational morale
everything else was the same as they were when I woke up at 4 AM, two hours before the drop occurred

I guess it could be possible that the script remains running in the background and the fail was triggered after the 4 days had passed since I took the previous contract (which I completed successfully). But I'm also fairly certain I didn't accept that contract at 6 in the morning.
6 contracts completed, zero failed, 17 quests completed, zero failed.
having a drop in morale at 6 am if you've been awake for awhile would be a pretty cool feature though imo, punishes irregular resting schedules
Rest morale is already there for that purpose. Somehow, I've actually suffered greater drop of rest morale than rest sanity also...
I want to report that I just got another one of these. They seem to be consistent. This is the first contract you get from the Osbrook elder so there's no way I could have another contract fail. And according to the UI I still have 1 day to deliver the contract. Again it happened a little bit after sunrise.
One note is that I chose "I need more" and I got the "You have to finish this in one day version".
I never thought it would be a bug but i had the exact thing happen in my jonna electro(or hilda arcane spear, i dont remembe slept at the harbor tarvern in brynn to wait for restocks and woke up with thirst and hunger and a 10% morale drop. While having lots of money on me.
I've been seeing and experiencing these random, out of the blue "Morale decreases significantly" log messages since the closed testing phase - as reported by others it always happens around the same time of the day outside of combat, no drug aftermaths and no failed contracts, just completely random. Would be great if a dev could look into it and fix it.
Seasonal depression?
I thought so and Would see it happens like at -50 morale but it dosent quite make sense when having 90% morale and being optimistic 24/7 in safe places and having stuff like that out of the blue

Another time i remember around of beast and sages i got that sudden morale drop on my arna while chilling in the caravan around the day
Yeah this post was mine. I experienced this multiple times already, across multiple characters. I thought it was because I missed something so didn't think much of it at first. I'll keep tabs on it from now on, now that it is a reported issue.
Just fyi, I also got the same morale incident when I slept inside the watermill, on the bed. Not sure if that is a bug though.
That's not a bug, but a feature! While sleeping in the bed found inside of the:
- Burned Watermill
- Leprosarium
- Plague Village
- Abandoned Homestead
the player character does not recover:
- morale
- sanity
- fatigue (and sleepiness)
at all. In fact, it actively decreases your morale and sanity by:
-2% (morale) and -1% (sanity) PER SLEPT HOUR. Brutal!
thanks, I had a feeling it was a feature. But nonetheless, the other ones I experienced were certainly the bug, just clarifying. Anyways. 🙂
